Chapter 1: The Picori Festival

(Tabuu's palace in Subspace)

Tabuu was in the library in his palace and was drawing several runes on the floor with a piece of chalk. Tabuu seemed really focused on whatever it was he was preparing.

Tabuu- You might think you're safe there…but just you wait…because I happen to know of a backdoor that even you aren't aware of…my old friend…just you wait…

Eventually, Vaati and the Quinking (in the form of Vaati) enter the library and they both seemed a little scared to approach Tabuu.

Vaati- Master Tabuu looks busy! Maybe we should…

Tabuu- Actually, I was the one who called for both of you. And believe me, what I need you to do is just as important as this.

Quinking (in Vaati's voice)- So…what is it you want from us this time?

Tabuu- Tell me, Vaati…do you remember your old master?

Quinking (in Vaati's voice)- My old master…?

Tabuu- I wasn't talking to you, Quinking!

Quinking (in Vaati's voice)- Wait…you know it's me?!

Tabuu- You might be a shapeshifter and can imitate the form of whoever you transform into flawlessly, but there are some things you can't mask. Like your soul, which I can see.

Then Tabuu turned to look at Vaati.

Tabuu- As I asked before, do you remember your old master? The Minish Elder…Ezlo…

Vaati- Of course I remember Ezlo. He took me in when I was found left on his doorstep as a baby and raised me like I was his own son.

Tabuu- Yet, you still stabbed him in the back to gain those powers you now have. Anyway, he has something that I require. Once every 100 years or so, the realms of Hyrule align and allow others from that realm to meet and interact with each other. That is also how you first left the Minish world after all. And the next alignment is in Hyrule tomorrow. And since you know the Minish world so well for being a former Minish yourself and for being old acquittances with Ezlo, I figured you were perfect for the job, Vaati.

Vaati- Master Tabuu…I am not welcomed in the Minsih world anymore! And I'm sure you are very aware as to why!

Tabuu- Yes, but I think the Minish still believe you to be dead after Link cut your head off. Doubt even Ezlo knows I've brought you back to serve me. Not that you have a choice, because you know what will happen if you disobey.

Vaati- Y-y-yes…Master Tabuu…

Tabuu- Good boy. But I also must insist that you stay focused on your mission and not get distracted with your vendetta against Ezlo or with Link. In fact, do everything in your power to make sure that you are not noticed by any of the heroes from the Super Mario Brothers' Team! The last thing I want is for Mario to catch on to what I'm working on!

Quinking (in Vaati's voice)- And why am I here?

Tabuu- To be Vaati's backup in case he does need the extra help and to make sure he doesn't let distracted with anything else.

Then Vaati and the Quinking looked over Tabuu's shoulder and saw the runes and hexagram Tabuu was writing.

Quinking (in Vaati's voice)- A back gate dimensional portal? Is this what you've been working on?

Vaati- Wait…you want that sundial?!

Tabuu- The Celestial Sundial. And yes, I do. Good to know you haven't forgotten the teachings as Ezlo's apprentice.

Vaati- But why are you trying to open a portal this way when you can simply open portals to just about anywhere you want using your god magic?

Tabuu- I can't tell you…not yet, anyway. But let's just say if I am to finally defeat Marco's decedent once and for all…I need someone out of the picture…and the only way to get to them without drawing attention is through this unconventional means.

Vaati- Could you be more…

Tabuu- NO! If you or the Quinking know any more, you might slip in front of the wrong person. But don't you worry, because once I've gotten everything prepared, both of you as well as all of my other followers will be joining me on this trip. And as I said, I require the Celestial Sundial. Now go and do not get sidetracked by your history with either Ezlo or with Link! That goes for you too, Quinking!

(Castle Hyrule)

Princess Zelda was standing by the window balcony in her room. Zelda looked down at the people in the Castletown as they were preparing for the Picori Festival. But for some reason, Zelda looked very concerned. After a moment or two, Zelda heard a knock on her door.

Zelda- You can come in, Impa.

Then Impa opened the door and entered Zelda's room.

Impa- Your grace, the Picori Festival is almost upon us. Yet, you seem troubled. Is something troubling you?

Zelda- I'm not sure. I feel as though something bad happened during this festival a long time ago. But the Picori Festival happens once every 100 years and none of us were around during that time.

Suddenly, Zelda's left hand began to feel like it was burning as the Triforce of Wisdom lit up.

Impa- Your grace?!

Zelda- The Triforce…it's burning…it must be a warning…

Impa- Is it Ganondorf again?

Zelda- I don't think so. The Triforce is detecting a trace of…Tabuu's power…where is Link?

Impa- Forgive me, your grace, but Link is currently in Buramudgee, where his friend, Ty lives. Link said he agreed to help Ty test a new invention of Ty's. But he said he'd return before the festival began.

Zelda- Well, I need Link back here in Hyrule as soon as possible. Send a message to Link that I need to speak with him.

Impa- But how do we send a message all the way to Australia?

Zelda- Is Aryll still in Hyrule Castletown?
