Chapter 3: The Minish Door

(Hyrule Castle)

Link and Ty and Aryll arrived at the throne room where Zelda and Impa were waiting for them.

Zelda- Oh, I see you brought Ty along with you, Link.

Ty- Well, when I heard that Tabuu might be involved, I decided to tag along, shela.

Link- And I was helping Ty with his new inventions when you sent Aryll to find me. But anyway, what seems to be the issue, Zelda?

Zelda- I picked up a warning sign from my Triforce of Wisdom. The last time the Triforce's warning felt like this was when Tabuu got his full strength and escaped Subspace.

Link- Does that mean Tabuu really is back to full strength again?! I don't know if I'm ready to face Perfect Tabuu again!

Ty- I doubt it, mate. If Tabuu did leave Subspace, me radar would've detected it.

Aryll- I thought Tabuu wrecked it when he possessed Princess Peach.

Ty- He only damaged part of the programing. It can still detect Tabuu and his followers when they use his power. The only way for the radar to not pick up something is if any of Tabuu's followers don't have Tabuu's power active.

Link- And that was how we fell into Tabuu's trap during that Perfect Tabuu incident.

Ty- Point it, if this really is Tabuu, he would've sent some of his lackies to Hyrule to get him something he needs for a plan he's cooking up. But what would Tabuu be after?

Impa- Well, the only thing happening right now in Hyrule is the Picori Festival.

Zelda- She's right. Once every 100 years, a celestial alignment occurs and allows the race known as the Picori, or Minish as they prefer to be called, to travel to our world for a day.

Ty- A festival for a race in Hyrule…hmmm…

Link- You thinking it has something to do with the festival, Ty?

Ty- The timing seems too perfect to be a coincidence, mate. And besides, Tabuu has gotten us by surprise numerous times. Like kidnapping all those children to power a machine to drain our worlds or when he stole the instructions for the Fold of Life to resurrect Olly and Olivia to use as a sacrifice for the Origami Empress. I've learned not to underestimate Tabuu, since he is just as smart as he is strong. If he's after something here in Hyrule, it must be connected to this festival or his celestial alignment that occurs once a century. But I also know if we just let Tabuu get what he wants, it would be trouble for us all over again, mate.

Link- I agree to that.

(In the Hyrule Castle courtyard)

Vaati and the Quinking (who was still in the form of a random Hylian) had managed to slip passed the guards and into the courtyard without being seen. Vaati however was also wearing a cloak and hood to cover most of his face. After Vaati rushed to hide behind a topiary that was in the shape of a giant bird, he noticed the Quinking was following close behind, but without wearing a hood and cloak like he was.

Vaati- Why aren't you wearing your disguise?

Quinking (in the voice of a Hylian)- I'm already in disguise in the form of that Hylian.

Vaati- You know what I mean! We can't let the guards or anyone know we're within the castle walls! Even if you are a shapeshifter and are in the form of someone else, Tabuu said very sternly that we let no one know we're…

Hylian soldier- Someone there?

Vaati- Oh shit!

Thinking quickly, the Quinking turned into the form of a Hylian soldier.

Quinking (in the voice of a Hylian soldier)- Hide, quickly! I'll handle this!

Vaati rushed to hide in a nearby bush while the Quinking tried to looked like he was a soldier at his post as the Hylian soldier rushed up to him.

Hylian soldier- You there, did you see anyone? I thought I heard voices coming from this area.

Quinking (in the voice of the Hylian soldier)- Sorry, but I haven't. I've been here all day and nothing has been happening at all. Maybe you heard me talking to myself since I was getting bored over here.

Hylian soldier- Very well. Continue the…

Before the Hylian soldier could leave, he noticed there were footprints on the ground and that they were leading towards the bush Vaati was hiding in.

Hylian soldier- Hey…what are these doing…

Suddenly, a beam of energy was fired from Tabuu's mark on the Quinking's left palm, even though he was still in the form of a Hylian soldier. It did knock out the soldier, but Vaati was still angry when he jumped out of the bushes.

Vaati- Quinking, you idiot! Do you realize what you just did?!

Quinking (in the voice of the Hylian soldier)- I stopped him from finding you.

Vaati- You just used Tabuu's power to knock him out! The heroes still have that radar that can detect Tabuu's power!

Vaati pressed his thumb and index finger to his forehead.

Vaati- You had best hope that Link and the other heroes aren't anywhere within the castle walls. Then we might be able to open the Minish Door before they can catch up to us!

(Back at the throne room)

Ty heard a beeping sound coming from his pocket. Ty reached into his pocket and pulled out a device connected to his radar.

Link- Ty?

Ty- Tabuu's power was just detected! And…it's somewhere in the castle's courtyard…

Impa- Inside Hyrule Castle's boarders?!

Zelda- Link, this could be Tabuu making his move!

Link- I'm on it, princess! Ty, we need to get to the courtyard before we lose the trail.

Ty- Sure thing, mate!

(Back at the castle courtyard)

Vaati and the Quinking (who was still in the form of a Hylian soldier) arrived at this stone wall connected to the castle. It had a door frame in the middle of it, but it looked like it was all bricked up by the stone blocks.

Quinking (in the voice of the Hylian soldier)- That's the Minish Door? But it's blocked off by stone blocks.

Vaati- That's because it hasn't opened yet! It's supposed to open up once the alignment has occurred, but I can open it close to the alignment with the incantation Ezlo taught me when I was his apprentice.

Vaati approached the Minish Door and began chanting in the Minish langue. Glowing runes began to appear around the door frame on the wall as Vaati continued to chant. But while Vaati was distracted with his incantation, a boomerang was heading straight for Vaati from behind. The Quinking used the shield of the Hylian soldier to block the boomerang before it could hit Vaati.

Vaati- What are you doing, Quinking?! I need absolute concentration for this incantation!

Quinking (in the voice of the Hylian Soldier)- Uh…Vaati…we got company…

Then Vaati tilted his head back to look behind him and saw Ty catch his boomerang as it returned to him and Link standing close behind him.

Vaati- Shit…

Ty- Vaati and the Quinking…

Link- I guess that explains why a Hylian Soldier isn't trying to apprehend Vaati!

Quinking (in the voice of the Hylian soldier)- Vaati…what do we do now?

Vaati- (Grunt)…Keep them busy for as long as you can, Quinking! I need to finish the spell if I'm to open the Minish Door!

Quinking (in the voice of the Hylian soldier)- By myself?!

Vaati- Just for a minute. That's how long I need to open the door.

Then the Quinking took on his real monstrous form instead of the form of someone else.

Quinking- Well, since they already know I'm here, I might as well use my true form.

The Quinking spat out a stream of fire at Ty, but Link jumped in front of Ty and blocked the fire with his shield. Ty then pulled out his Freezerangs before jumping above Link.

Ty- Hey Quinking, you need to chill out, mate!

Then Ty threw the Freezerangs at the Quinking and they landed in his mouth. The Quinking's flames stopped, but the Quinking's mouth was also beginning to freeze and get covered in ice. The Quinking changed his form again to get his mouth unfrozen. This time, the Quinking took the form of a slime-like creature called a Flame ChuChu. The ice melted, but Link shot a sword beam from the Master Sword and splattered the Quinking across the wall, literally. The slime of the Flame ChuChu came back together and the Quinking returned to his original form. But before the Quinking could do anything else, Link struck the Quinking with the Master Sword and knocked the Quinking to the ground and by Vaati.

Quinking- Vaati…I can't fight both Link and Ty without some help for long! I need your help here!

Vaati didn't answer and continued to chant the spell in the Minish langue. The Quinking got back up as Link and Ty were ready to strike again. But before could swing the Master Sword or Ty throw his boomerangs, the runes on the door frame lit up completely and the stones in the frame vanished completely. Suddenly, a vortex opened up and began sucking Link, Ty, Vaati, and the Quinking into it.

Ty- What's going on?!

Link- I don't know!

Suddenly, Link, Ty, Vaati, and the Quinking were sucked right into the door before it closed back up behind them.
