Chapter 8: Intellectual Gifted
Elsewhere in the kingdom right now more importantly with ruby and company. They were busy walking through the streets of atlas right now toward their desiantion. As the teen was humming to herself with a smile on her face. With her was rogue, asani along with persia. As the mouse faunus held a leash belonging to dawn who was in her usually form. With qrow and summer right by them
But as they walked dawn kept avoiding the snow whining from it not liking it one bit
"Hey kid your dog keeps whining. What she don't like snow"qrow joked
Asani nervously tapped her fingers together"she just doesn't like the cold..i…i really hope we don't go down into mantle ever"she said which confused them that she said that
"Wait why don't you wanna go down to mantle. Granted it a little uh sketchy down their at times"persia replied speaking from experience as the girl looked very upset who was even here in mantle. As rogue relaized what she meant
"Ohhh you mean your scumbag parents who sold you"rogue bluntly said making the mouse faunus jaw dropped
"They did what?!"persia shouted in complete shock as asani hugged herself tight at the thought of running into them again. Ruby leaned over wrapping an arm around her as she flinched but leaned into it
"It'll be fine we won't run into them. Granted we might have to go down their later for something….but i'm sure your new family won't let them near you. I won't either"ruby said with a cheerful tone making her girlfriend blush
Qrow saw that internally chuckling reminding him of summer when they were younger right now. They were a little ahead of him as he sighed
"You know sum…shes alot like you at that age. Though except finding some rugged and handsome"qrow said making the women roll her eyes
"Honesalty I wonder how I ever fell for a man like you. Shockingly you quit drinking which makes you more annoying. "Summer joked back as he laughed
"I mean i dabble only when were celebrating something. Did it after we had that send off that night…not too much too look like an idiot"qrow said
"Wait you weren't trying to everyday…i thought that was just you"summer joked back making him shake his head seeing the old her slowly returning right now as he sighed smiling seeing ruby right now in awe of the place. But he knew how rotten it is in certain places
"Well lets hope that the kiddio here won't go to the bad side of atlas. The pompous jerks of this kingdom….god I hope jacque gets whats coming to him"qrow said
"He will but lets make sure she doesn't loose control. I'd hate for that to happen to her and atlas viewing her like some criminal"summer said with worry as he shared it
After maybe another twenty minutes of walking through the cold streets of atlas. They arrived at their destination that being a lavish looking building that seemed like a large warehouse in design. But it had something on it being the hayley hardwares logo on the front. As the fine owner had one small business in atlas.
"Here we are the family grocery store for weapons"rogue said with her attempt at a pun
"Bad….very bad. Though lets head inside if where lucky my dad or mom might be here. You can say hi"persia said excited right now
The group walked in being greet by a guard but they just let them right on through seeing the company heiress with them. They walked through the halls of the storage depot for a long time greeting some people for a bit. Until they soon reached a room they guessed they might be in working on their weapons and gear
As they opened a set of double doors to be met by something. A large storage room lined with several shelf that stretched far and wide down the end of the warehouse right now. But inside all of them right now where several different types of weapon parts. From autmatoic rifle recivers to heat shield for shotgus. It was like a weaon nerds dream come true right now
"Whoa! This place is amazing….look at this"ruby said zipping over to a table with some bins. Inside it were some bolas form the look of it that had a purple glow to it suggesting gravity dust as she seqeualed
"Gravity bolas. I've only seen these in weapon articles….atlas miltary made them for making it easy to capture criminals"Ruby squealed in joy like a girl in a candy store or in this case a gun store. Close by someone laughed at her antics
"Young lady how did you get in here. Because i'm sure my boss wouldn't want someone stealing our merchandise"a male voice spoke up
As it belong to a man who was in his late thirties with tan skin along with having light brown eyes with light blond hair. As he wore a simply pair of black dress pants with a yellow shirt and black tie. But atop his head was a set of big yellow mouse ears on his head
"Dad"persia cheered hugging the man who was her father as he laughed slightly
"Hello my precious little mouse. Is this a friend of yours….she better not be like those hooligans from before"the mouse fuanus warned as rogue stepped into view
"No they aren't like that mr. mora"rogue said as the mouse faunus stared at her surprise. Then he glared at her pointing a finger in her face with a glare
"Young lady what are you doing here? Your father wouldn't want you here since you decided to run away and….well lets just say do something heinous"the mouse faunus said as persia sighed
"Dad she explained to me she already regrets that type of path she was on. Also give her a break those two are her friends. Eria is here also in atlas"persia said with an embarrassed look as the man glanced at the group before going wide eyed seeing qrow and summer
"My word…well seems that my friends daughter has some interesting friends. "The man said walking over offering a hand to the two as they took it shaking it individually.
"Pleasure all mine jaki and me go way back. Though sure that guys pretty worried sick since his daughters are here"qrow replied
"Ineed he is allow meself. I'm chad mora along with being my daughter heres father. My wife unfortunately would love to meet you but she back home."chad replied
"I'm sure she would cheese boy"maria said from the side as they glanced over at her. The women was with peitro, merlot along with carmine right now. As the four where at a large table that had several parts and items on them. Along with some cases on display right now as they were surprised to see her here
"Oh maria….surprised to see you here of all places"summer said
Peitro laughed slightly"Well me and her were just talking while I got to work. Its been fun repairing and thinking of new ideas for your weapons. "He added
"Oh it has….because well whoever made this little device. Remarkable in my opinion"merlot said holding up the holographic device that rogue made as she noticed it
"Hey the upgrade I made for my partner….you…actually think its…cool"rogue asked shyly because she can be shy at times. But was surprised she impressed someone of his mind with her invention. As the man chuckled
"Well yes. Remarkable how it can function with the use of a hardlight dust"merlot paused to think his next words carefully but she continued
"That i managed to link the dust up with the katan ignitor feature. It was hard but I messed with the wires inside of it for a bit and rerouted the energy surge to travel through it. Along with using certain metal to let it conduct the dust charges. It helped ensure they aren't hurt from the backlash"rogue expertly explained as the three scientist shared some looks with one another
"Well seems someone know her way around dust. Did you all come here to check up on our work"carmine asked
Ruby placed her hands behind her back moving her feet"Well uh sort of….i wanted to spend time with everyone. But they uh had other things"She said as the mouse girl spoke up
"Jacque schnee came to the school by the way"persia added making her father scoff in disgust
"Of course that man would do something like that. God…if he ever comes back here again saying jaki made a contact with me. I know for a fact he'd never make a deal with that devil"chad said in disgust
"Well dad and uncle are probably busy talking with grandma"rogue replied which confused the mouse faunus father for a moment recalling he was dead
"Uhh dear….your uncle dravan persiehd long ago protecting you"he corrected but he was soon corrected
"Oh right. Yeah dravan went into hiding with our tribe thinking he killed his niece. But now he has a family with his wife verona along with a baby girl. Probably should get that out of the way"qrow said as the mouse faunus was in shock before laughing at that
"Well i'll be…i'm sure jaki is brimming in joy right now. Maybe I could call up ports daughter to come say hi along with my wife"chad said which some still buy
"Professor port with a daughter…yeah i still don't believe that"ruby replied
Though soon enough they walked over as ruby took a seat with rogue taking one. As asani nerovusly sat in a nearby couch as the table they were working on had everyone gear. Ruby could see emeralds sickles their with the new ones looking disassembled but brand new. Then she noticed ember ceila their in the process of getting repaired along with velvet camera right now as well. Their was also mercy their but it was still in ruin with the handles only remaining in its place
Everyone else weapons where their along with the shattered katana known as remorse. But right now it wasn't looking so broken. Because the handle was all that was remaining though a brand new blade was their just like the old blade
"Whoa you managed to fix that katana in three days"ruby commnetd surprised
"Why they don't call me atlas finest mind for nothing. Me and merlot here are experts in our craft. Me with robotics along with him, but he was far more interested in grimm biology"peitro said as right now dawn walked over booping her nose on the old man leg. As he reached down gently rubbing her head.
Merlot chuckled"well I'm happy with some of my work….are you three here to help fix your friends weapons"he asked as they nodded
"Yeah but mainly my girlfiend helmet"ruby said before gesturing to a case asani had as the girl looked embarrassed. But shyly walked over placing the case on the table then with shaky hands undid the latches on it. Which revealed her LED helmet as the three stared at it with carmine looking intrigued
The women carefully picked it up with care guessing alot of work went into this. She slowly examined the piece of work infront of her. She glanced inside it shocked seeing the amount of detail inside. Their were pads inside to make the user comfortable along with a tactical visior from what she gathered inside of it. The women placed it on the table in amazement
"This is very well done…i mean…theirs cushioning for the user to make it comfortable for the wearer. Theirs even a tactical visor in here built in with an LED display. Along with a face rig to monitor someone emotions"carmine said staring at the girl who avoided her gaze
'This is very well done….did you make this?"she asked as the girl shyly nodded
"Y-yes…i just wanted to um hide the disgsuting blemish on my face. The…people that…i…i..was forced to work for…always called me ugly"asani stutered her answer as chad noticed how troubled she look
Quickly the man walked over to a coffee machine dispenser. But the man examined the machine before pressing a button for some hot coco. Placing a coffee mug underneath it, the machine buzzed to life before dispensing some fresh hot coco for someone. The man then walked over making her sit down as he offered her
"Here why don't you have something warm. I'm sure you all pretty cold from the weather here"chad said as the girl stared at it before taking a small sip feeling some relief along with how sweet it was beginning to drink it all
"Hey you might wanna slow down and enjoy it. Its better that way"persia said as the girl went wide eyed stopping mid sip setting it off to the side looking down
"Sorry'she apologized
"You don't need to say sorry dear. Though lets have some fun appernelty doing this…."summer said because she found this a little strange. Though she does recall how much she was into weapons when she was younger seeing the irony her daughter was obsessed with them
Though some from above someone appeared landing right infront of them. That being penny with a box of parts right now as she walked over easily holding it placing it on the table for her father
"Got the parts you needed dad"penny said
"Thank you darling"pietro thanked but ruby went completed wide eyed on what she saw her friend had
"You have rocket boots! That is amazing….do it again"ruby said as penny smiled before focusing her systems into her feet. Then slowly the jets light up as small green flames where below her feet as she moved around in the air flying around like a bird in the skies. This went on for a bit till she came back down disengaing the jets with a smile across her face
"Whoa talk about an upgrade…what don't tell us you have an armcannon in their"rogue joked as pina appeared as the dingitla consutrct looked confused
"Miss polidina does not have that in her systems at all. That would take too much power along with the needed use of dust which may harm her body if that is circulating through her system"pina stated before disappearing
"Forgot about that thing….though hey kid your sister need a hand or something"Qrow said pulling up a prosthetic hand making ruby giggle at that attempt at a joke right now
"No…more like blake."ruby corrected as he shook his head. As she brought out crescent rose beginning to examine it right now. With her father joining her spending some father daughter time together. But with asani the girl was studying her older brothers katana infront of her
As she did she examined it invested it seems but carmine noticed her staring at it
"Oh dear do you want to help me fix that. I did help with part of it but I…"she was stopped as asani began to grab some radom tools. Along with necessary parts for the katana, but she quickly grabbed her helmet. Then zipping around the storage facility in a quick motion and after ten minutes of searching she found the parts needs to fix her helmet
Quickly she unscrewed her helmet with the screws on the side cracking it open like some egg. Though she quickly unscerewed some hatches on it along with undoing the burnt out parts. Then she replaced them qucikly with the indented circuits and parts needed for it to work. After maybe twenty minutes she quickly reassembled her helmet
Then she lifted it up hesitantly placing it on her head as the screen flicker. Asani then did a couple facial expressions as the helmet displayed a confused emoticon along wit a frowning emoticon. But her helmet displayed showing her everything was in working order
"Hey you fixed it nice"rogue compleimnted but asani ignored it. As she began to scan the katana as it highlighted certain things that needed to be assembled first. Grabbing all the tools needed she began to assemble it rather quickly. Carmine watched as within about two hours she managed to fix it. As the girl grabbed a dust capsule
Wanting to test it she slipped it into the slot then closed the hatch. Pressing a button the blade ignited in fire catching them by surprise
"Whoa! Thats so cool…i've always wanted to see an ignitor weapon but in action. Whoa"persia said
Carmine looked surprised how fast she assembled it"how…how did you assemble it that fast? It took me a few attempts at first with him while we tested it"she asked as asani mask display a confused emoticon
"I've…always had an easy time assembling things. Along with understanding things"asani answered simply as the women was curious. Grabbing her scroll she handed her it as it showed an IQ test
'Dear…why don't you take this test for me real quick"carmine said as she did without question. In about a half hour she was finished as carmine took it
"Carmine what are you doing right now"summer asked since for the past two our she was invested in spending time with her daughter. Carmine stared at the results of the test in complete shock
"I was curious and gave her an IQ test and…well seems she has an IQ of 163"carmine said to some surprise
"Hold on…that good or something"qrow asked
"Actually it is. Me and merlot well not to brag measure around 160 but…to imagine someone so young."pietro said surprised himself as ruby hummed for a moment
"I think mine might have been….154?"ruby said trying to recall her because despite her childish antics she pretty smart. As rogue snickered
"Nerd girlfriend"rogue teased making ruby frown at her
"Shut up….though hey maybe we can replicate the same effect of merciless. Maybe even upgrade my scythe since it has an ignitor too"ruby said as they all got to work on doing some upgrades for everyone weapons together
Elsehwere early after the litttle incident in the octopus. Pana guided them to a building close to the club which was a three story house from the look of it. But it was pressed right next to the employee housing of their staff. But the house was made of similiar buidling material like the rest of the building in mantle.
As she apporached it she produced a key as this was her home. She inserted it before welcoming them into their home mainly being her nephew with nadia and the four girls dating him. They walked inside the women home to see what it was
As it had a staricase leading up to more floors of the home. Along with that on their left side was the living room. It had a quite large lviing room with a could leather couches in design. With some chairs along with a table for some light reading even with a lamp. A mantle was their that had a tv mounted to a wall with some family pcitures their on dispaly. But right now their were two people
The first was maris who was reading a book along with her sister. As the girl seemed to be seventeen as she had fair skin with a deep shade of blue eyes with jet black hair having a big lime green streak in her hair. While she had a toned and athletic appearance
Their was also how she wore a simple pair of blue jenas with some black boots. For an undershirt she wore a long sleeve athletic shirt colroed brown with a lime green flanelle shirt with white and black patterns on it. As she had a skull embllzzed on the back with a pirates hat on it.
"Oh kendra….maris aren't you going to say his to your mother"pana called out to the two as the girl known as kendra looked up with headphones on
"Hi mom….and…"she paused seeing the random people with her as maris noticed them very confused
"Yo mom who are these chums"maris asked making eden frown at her
"Oh great you have my boyfriend crappy jokes….god kill me"eden said confusing the two as their mother dragged her nephew forward presenting him like a special guest

Along with having having pink eyes that seemed to shine like pearls. While she had a slender build with a moderate bust to her. Though he simply wore a tan skirt reaching the ground with no shoes on. As she wore seaweed colored t-shirt with a neckalce aorund her neck of a sharks fin. With her having on a silver wedding ring on her right hand
But something else was on her that she had faunus traits. With her sporting a large shark tail with some gills. She was an aqutic faunus but she had on a baby carreit carrying someone
That being a maybe bareilly month old baby who had tan skin with a big set of dark blue eyes. Along with her having tufts of black hair in a small ligth blue onesie. But she was sucking on a pacifer right now.
"Awww aren't you just the cutest little thing"nadia cooed gushing over the baby right now because it was her one weakness.
The shark faunus lauhged slightly"umm thank you…dear who are these people?"the women question as maris spoke up
"Mom…i thinks he brought that aunt who kid was on the news"maris pointed out as the shark faunus stared at him wide eyed. Then walked over hugging him putting him right near the babys face she sucked on her pacfier
"Ohhh your hel son…this is quite a shocker. God you look…huh…kinda look like azaril. But when he was younger"she commented
"I know right…shes the spitting image of that bushy beard softie"pana cooed as he felt embrassed even more.
"Ha! This is comedy gold….so let me guess you got some more kids here. Because whos this little cutie"nadia said wagging a finger near the baby face who shuffled in the baby carrier
"Well this would be dywn our newest daughter. I'm neirda…well if you all are here assuming your trusthworthy. Nerida graves"she intorudced herself sitting down on a nearby couch as maris walked over to the stairs leaning toward it

"Maris! Quit messing with them and tell them that grimm cousin is here"kendra said but above the others heard it. As several footsteps could be heard as four people emrged at the bottom of the stairs right now. But they were all well girls shcokingly
As the youngest seemed to be elven with bright red hair hair that was wavy and long. It reached the ground almost with her eyes being dark blue with fair skin. But she wore a simple aqua color t-shirt with a mermaid hairclip in her hair. But she wore a pair of purple short without any snoes on right now
But she had faunsu traits being some shark fins on her arms with some gills on her neck. She was a shark faunus
While the next seemed about fourteen in appearance as she light tan skin. As she also had dark blue eyes like the rest of the family but her hair was dark blue in color with one stripe of black and another yellow in her hair. While she simple wore a frilled black skirt along with wearing a simple dark blue sweater with a circle on the chest that showed her clevage. As she sported a tombstone necklace around her neck
Another seemed to be maybe fifteen judging by her age while she had fair skin like the little girl. She had tan hair with some seashells in her hair. Along with that she had deep blue eyes as well. While she wore a pair of aqua green yogapants with some white socks on. But for a shirt she simply wore a crop top colored crimson red showing off her stomach. While she wore a sea blue hoodie over it
But she had a large shark tail on her back just like the shark faunus with some gills on her neck
Then the last one seemed about sxiteen as she very dark tan skin like she lived in the sun. while her eyes were dark blue like the rest she had light orange hair tied into a bun with a pin that looked like a old cutlass in design. But she wore a simple pleaded maroon in color with black shoes on. Along with wearing a simple blouse colored light blue in colored with black buttons. But she sported a pair of black rimmed glasses
They all stayed sielnt for a moment till the older one of the bunch spoke up
"So your our other cousin…well uh introductions are needed i'm nami"nami introduced herself though the fiteen year old soon stepped forward
"I'm meri. I'm pretty sure i'm better than the rest of my sister"meri said making maris roll her eyes at her
"Cough almost accepted a scumbug after heading up to atlas cough"maris said making meri feel embarrassed right now. As the other girl was not even paying attention right now looking at something else which nerida cleared her throat
"Dory dear….are you paying attention"nerida asked as the girl snapped back into reality
"Oh uh sorry my bad..i uh got ADHD….kinda hard for me to focus"dory replied as she seemed to have a slight attention problem. As the last one who was the little girl stepped forward holding her hair in her hands
"Hwello…i'm ariel"ariel cutlet introduced herself as their hearts melted seeing her
"Aww aren't you just adorable little faunua"may cooed as the shark faunus smiled showing off her big set of sharp shark teeth. This caught the sniper offguard seeing that as she wander how bad it be if she bite someone
Deicidng too all get comfy they all stayed in silence right now with no one speaking up right now. Because he was the only other guy in their room which bothered him right now hoping for my male cousins but got all girls. He had a sense of deju vu right now
"So we all gonna stand here or talk"meri asked breaking the silence
"Well lets start with these five….who are you guys exactly?"maris questioned as they stayed silent for a moment before pana leaned over pinching eden on the hips as the bear faunus yelped with a blush on her face
"Oh these four are apparently your cousins four girlfriends"pana explained as the five older girls looked at him as he slowly looked away as meri and maris where giggling slightly with kendra smacking her face as she covered areils ears

"Hey he aint a perv like that…solomon girl. Also uh we treat each other fairly. I'm uh onxyia blair"oxnyai introduced herself before dory noticed her two traits

"Well i'm velvet scarlitina"velvet introduced herself to the girls surprise to hear her last name

"Their are some boys in the family but shockingly alot of girls for grandma desdemona"kendra replied peeking some itnrest on that. Before long arial brushed her hair staring at her new cousin hearing a hiss from his back
"Are you a snake your back is hissing"she cutely pointed out as they stayed silent on that for a moment
"Ah well…ughh just show the stupid bug"Eden said as he quickly removed his shirt and jakcet off. But it revealed all his scars on his body and tattoos which caught pana offguard seeing that many on him. Though the one that caught her offguard the most was the spinescar seeing the chimera grimm hissing slightly.
"Gah! Theirs a grimm inside your back…can you feel it in their"dory asked but he shook his head slipping his shirt back on sighing
"Eh its well…numb…i can't feel much of anything their most of the time. Though uh…this may come out of the blue. But um well…i didn't hear much about my mom by blood. Mars and liltih didn't mention it alot. They said you stuck around her alot"zane said which caught them offguard
Pana stared down placing her hands on her lap staying silent for a moment singing
"Mom…come on don't be sad again. I know you miss her still"kendra said as the women shook her head
"I know. Just well your mom was our youngest siblings. She always heard stories from our mother and other relatives about our family. It inspired her actually to strive to the same status they had before. But uh…me and mars shared it with her. Some of us do here but we try to stay out of the military sights"pana explained
"Thats obvious…the general would concsript as weapons. But he hasn't yet it seems"eden pointed out as the women scoffed
"I don't trust that man one bit although…i think i have something that belonged to your mother"pana said to their surprise. As she walked upstairs for a bit then returned with a dark blue weapons case with black lining it. With a skull emblem on it that looked well decorated.
"What that?"may asked
"This would be your mothers old huntresses gear…well one of her favorite weapons. She made it herself'pana said pressing a button on the case undoing it. Then she pulled out a rectangular shaped object. Gesturing for them to follow outside which they did, once outside she activated it as it emerged
As it emerged to reveal a long scythe with a curved blade as it was jet black in color. But it seemed very bulky with several little bumps or clips sticking in the middle of the pole. All of them varying from firearm types. It had a dial on the middle of the weapon. While the end of the pole had a skull ontop of it with a tombstone hanging off the middle of it. It was dark blue with black and white accent surrounding it.
"Wait…thats the same scythe we saw in that memory. But it looks different"onxyia commented
"Memory? What are you talking about?"nami asked
"Memory semblance. saw a memory of his mom who apparently lived on the patch. But was also prengnant when she died with another…..kid"eden said stopping realizing what she was saying. As pana held the scythe as the women just heard her baby sister was pregannt when she died as the women began to have teary eyes right now
"She…she was pregant?"pana asked with a shaky voice as nadia stepped forward taking the weapon from her giving it to her adoptive son. Then the tiger hugged her gently
"Look…okay that is a big slip up she just pulled. But…look miss don't start balling your eyes out. I know it hurts to hear that but i'm sure if she was here right now she tell you i'm sure that everything will be fine. Besides…"she paused for a moment sighing
"I made sure to well…this is going to sound dark but uh…i killed most of the slavers in that camp she was at.
