"Day Off"... oh boy. I think we can all relate to Jayden here. Not giving ourselves any time to have fun or just what. Sometimes us workaholics just like to work or at least get out there and do our jobs. At least that's how I'd view his training with the Beetle Disc for the cannon the team receives. But enough chitchat! Let's get this train wreck a-rolling! (grabs the Fire Smasher and swings at the screen)

Disclaimers: I don't own Power Rangers, as it is a product of Hasbro as of May 1st, 2018.

(Bekah's POV)

Morning time at the dojo meant - once again - another day of training, and this time I was working out with Kevin, doing some sit-ups on the ground and thinking about how much Bulk and Spike were already learning from their first encounter with me. I had assigned the two of them to practice on their swordsmanship and ensure they got plenty of exercise and a well balanced diet. So far so good, it seemed.

Suddenly we all heard Mike come in and call out, "Hey, guys! Guess what?"

Kevin got up and guessed, "You overslept? Again."

I flipped to my feet and shook my head. "Something good happened, more likely."

Mike nodded a bit. "Yeah! Ji just told me he wanted us to take the day off." He got his helmet off as the rest of us looked at each other in surprise.

"Really??" Emily seemed excited.

"Is this a joke?" Mia was confused.

"But... we just started our workout," Kevin said in disappointment.

I shrugged and looked at Kevin. "Well, I don't know about you, but I'm actually interested in experiencing more of modern day things."

He chuckled slightly. "Obviously."

Mike shook his head. "Dude, don't joke about her age. Trust me: Been there, done that. Still got the tender area on my face to prove it."

I smiled sheepishly at Mike. "Sorry."

"It's cool," he smiled back and punched me in the arm lightly. "You got a heck of a right swing."

I chuckled as the girls started discussing plans for the day off, Emily mentioning, "I was thinking Rainbow's End! I've never been on a rollercoaster before!"

"I'm all for that one!" I agreed eagerly. "It'll be my first amusement park I've ever been to!"

"What??" Mike sounded surprised by our admissions. "Neither of you have ever experienced those?"

I shook my head. "I was often traveling too much to notice."

"And they don't have any rollercoasters where I'm from." Emily smiled a bit.

"Then it's settled!" Mike agreed with us as he smiled. "Rainbow's End, here we come!"

Even Kevin was smiling at the opportunity to get out for fun, and we all headed for the door, but I stopped us once I noticed Jayden coming in with Kevin telling him, "Hey, Jayden. We're going to the amusement park."

He simply smiled and said, "Have fun." As he passed us, Emily frowned slightly and asked, "You're not coming with us?"

Normally, I would have been feeling conflicted about my love for him, but right now I was feeling more worried about him and what he had in mind.

(Flashback)

A couple of days ago, I was playing my shamisen outside the dojo and I heard Jayden's footsteps coming close to me.

I looked up at him. "Hey, what's up?"

He sat beside me and held a box out to me, revealing an orange disc that had images of a hercules beetle on it. "This. Ji thinks it's about time we start looking for the auxiliary Zords. The Swordfish and Tiger Zords were lost in the previous battle against Master Xandred, and the Beetle Zord is the only one we have as of right now."

He pulled the Beetle Disc out as he continued, "Not only that, but if I can master it, I'll be able to unlock a new mode for my Fire Smasher: A cannon that utilizes all of our Power Discs in order to destroy the Nighlok's first form more easily."

I made a face and looked at him. "Are you sure you'll be able to handle the power?"

He looked at me and sighed softly. "If I can't, I hope you will be able to help me."

I smiled softly and placed a hand on his. "Without question."

He smiled back, both of us knowing we had the other's back.

(Flashback End)

(Bekah's POV)

Jayden looked around at Emily. "Not this time. There's something I need to do." He turned and kept walking into the main room.

I twitched my nose and sighed softly as Mia patted my shoulder, speaking with a tone of agreement: "He's so mysterious sometimes. I wonder what's so important?"

"Guys!" Mike popped his head back through the door and caught our attention as he said, "Our day off is a-wasting!"

I bit my lip slightly, looking at the others and shrugging. "I'll put it this way: What he's got going on, it'll be beneficial for the team." I headed after Mike quickly, ready to enjoy my free time with the gang.

(No POV)

Rainbow's End Amusement Park; the destination our heroes were heading to enjoy their free time, and Bekah was in awe of the many attractions and curiosity that were around her.

"I wonder why Jayden didn't come," Kevin spoke curiously, catching Bekah's attention.

"He seemed like he had a lot on his mind," Mia agreed.

"We'll bring him back some cotton candy to cheer him up!" Emily smiled happily.

Bekah smiled a bit as she nodded slightly before she bumped into Kevin's back. "What?"

"Maybe this is a test," Kevin said cautiously, looking at the others. "A samurai never takes a day off." He went to head back, but Bekah caught his arm.

"Come on, Kev. Even I've had some days off during my lifetime," she told him calmly. "I mean, who could blame me? The life of the samurai is stressful and there are some things we could do to get our heads cleared from the stuff we deal with. If Jayden wanted to come with us, he'd say something. Besides, if any Nighlok comes knocking, I'll most likely be the first to know." She looked around at the others, who were looking at her curiously. "What? I developed a way to tell where they'd be coming from."

Mike shrugged slightly and smiled a bit. "I guess that's something that's more convenient than a Gap Sensor sometimes. Seriously, I'm not gonna be surprised if the Gap Sensor is down and you're the only one who'd be able to see them coming, Bek."

Bekah chuckled slightly as she smiled at him. "Well, my curse did come with some good benefits."

Kevin nodded a bit. "I guess I'll stay for a while."

"Let's go then. The rides are a-waiting!" Mike said happily before he headed off, leading the others quickly.

Bekah laughed excitedly as she joined the others quickly, eager to experience what the amusement park had in store.

Back at the Shiba House, Jayden was in the training grounds with the Beetle Disc, placing it on his sword hilt and spinning it before he swung his weapon around and held it in front of himself, straining to keep control of the flames, but it didn't take long before he was knocked back, his sword hitting the ground a few feet away.

Ji picked up the blade and looked at Jayden. "You're not ready to use the Beetle Disc yet. You're literally playing with fire." He stood up and reminded the struggling Samurai, "Jayden, you must be prepared to give 100% of yourself, not just physically but mentally."

Jayden panted slightly and glanced over, waving it off. "I'm giving 110%."

"Yes, but you're lacking balance in your life. You're pushing yourself too hard. That's not letting you be at your best," Ji responded, removing the Disc from the sword and letting the weapon disappear before he walked over to the Red Ranger and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know you were showing Rebekah the Disc yesterday as well. I've seen the way you both react around each other and work together in training. You balance each other out both physically and mentally."

Jayden thought it over pensively; there was a solid connection between him and Bekah that he still didn't understand well. She was like the Yin to his Yang, knowing every thought he'd have and any idea he might come up with, just as much as he understood her thoughts and plans. They pushed each other to be better and without one, the other wouldn't be able to function fully.

Looking up at Ji, he nodded. "Maybe she'll be able to help me balance out the energy for the Beetle Disc too."

Ji nodded in confirmation. "Darkness cannot exist without light, and a small spark of fire balances everything out, just like you and her balance each other out."

Jayden smiled and retrieved the Disc from Ji, knowing exactly what to do next. "I'll ask her tonight to help me with training. With both of us working together, I got a good feeling it'll be a better turnout."

Ji smiled back. "The responsibility you have is great, but in order to master the Beetle Disc, you must master balance in your life."

Jayden nodded as he looked at the Disc, confidence pouring into him.

(Bekah's POV)

After we had fun on the rides, we sat down at a table to relax and enjoy some of the park food, and I was savoring the taste of deep fried Oreos. "I can't believe people actually deep fry sweets for a carnival or amusement park. That should be like a culinary sin or something."

The group laughed as Mia smiled at my joke. "It's not healthy, but it's such a good taste and texture regardless."

I nodded before I swallowed the bite in my mouth, my mind going back to Jayden and concern filling my thoughts.

"What's up?" Emily picked up on my concern right away.

I looked over and sighed softly before I put the cookie in my hand down and tried to process how I could explain my thoughts to the group.

But I had no time because at that moment, my hackles went on end as I immediately got up. "Guys, get ready! Nighlok incoming!"

We heard a few terrified screams, the others getting up quickly as Mike said incredulously, "Man, when your Nighlok danger sense goes off, it is not wrong!"

"Move it, people!" I commanded, leading the team to the site as we morphed quickly and I shouted, "That's enough!!" I slashed at the Nighlok as he tried to block me. "You're going back in the crevice of hell where you belong!"

"Heh! Ain't likely, little missy, but I'll let ya have a good whack at it!" Dreadhead taunted me, blocking my blade with his gun, but when I actually landed a hit, it phased through him like nothing and I finally got a good look at him. "Oh crap. Why'd it have to be you?" I yelped as I got knocked back to the group.

The others rushed forward and tried to attack him, but they got the same results I did.

I saw Dreadhead aim his blaster at us and quickly activated my Lunar Hammer, blocking the attack and standing in front of the group. "Our swords aren't gonna do much damage. I know this Nighlok's moves front to back. He's a long ranged fighter."

Kevin nodded a bit. "Then let's see how he deals with some long ranged attacks." He activated his Hydro Bow and shot at Dreadhead, actually landing a few hits.

Emily followed suit with her Earth Slicer, not doing much damage, but distracting Dreadhead long enough for Mia to strike with her Sky Fan attack.

Mike chuckled slightly. "Guess that works out!"

"Not bad, Rangers! Ya may have figured out a good way to scratch me, but yer weapons don't have enough mojo against me!" Dreadhead shouted as he tried shooting us again, but I blocked it quickly and got the group behind me.

"What do we do?" Emily asked worriedly.

"There isn't much we can do!" I responded, all of us ducking as we got shot at again and my Hammer deflected it. "We just gotta stay on our feet and hope Jayden comes!"

"Ha! Your leader's gonna be about as useless as all of yous!" Dreadhead said, firing at us again.

"Oh yeah?!" Jayden jumped in and slashed through Dreadhead, continuing to slash even when he couldn't hit him. "Hey, what gives?"

"Jayden! Get behind us now!!" I shouted at him quickly, catching his attention as Kevin and Mia shot their attacks at Dreadhead again from behind my back.

He regrouped with us and panted slightly. "What's this Nighlok's deal?"

I looked at Jayden quickly and reported, "Dreadhead is completely invulnerable. No blades can touch him. Only ranged attacks work so far."

He nodded before seeing Dreadhead readying another blast and summoning his Fire Smasher to help me protect the others, all of us staying behind our barrier as I panted slightly and looked at Kevin. "Kev, keep him distracted with your bow for the time being!"

"You got it!" Kevin nodded and stood up, shooting between the gaps the weapons made before getting down to dodge some shots.

I looked at Jayden quickly. "Got any ideas?"

He looked at me. "One, but I'm not sure if it'll work for me alone." He pulled out the Beetle Disc from his belt and held it up.

"Whoa! What is that? I've never seen that before!" Mia asked curiously before we were struck again, Kevin shooting at Dreadhead again to try and make a bit of pain, and it looked like it did something to the Nighlok, finally.

"Oh, feels like I ate cactus needles! Ya made me dry out!" Dreadhead held his stomach in pain as the familiar drying hit him. "Next time ya won't be so lucky! Later, Rangers!" He left us quickly.

I sighed in relief and shook my head slightly. "No way we're gonna be able to use old tactics." I knew this was far from over.

Back at the dojo, we conversed about the situation, all of us agreeing that we couldn't rely on our Spin Swords. As far as we knew, Mia's wind energy slashes, Kevin's shots, and Emily's Earth Slicer blades (when thrown) were pretty much our only shot at this point.

"We need to think about how we can beat him," Emily spoke up, catching my attention as I remembered what Jayden had told me yesterday about the cannon, which made me get up and head outside quickly.

I could hear the others asking curiously about why I was leaving, all of them wondering if I had any ideas, but it was fair to say I did have an idea, one that had come from an unlikely source.

I saw Jayden readying his Spin Sword and crossed my arms slightly. "You knew something that you didn't say back there. You know you can't handle the Beetle Disc alone."

He looked over and nodded. "It's why I didn't use it earlier. The Beetle Disc needs twice as much samurai power and since darkness balances out a fire like light, it only makes sense if both of us work together on using it." He walked over and held the Disc out to me.

I looked at him with hesitation clear in my eyes. "Jayden, I don't know if I can do this."

"Yes, you can," he spoke softly to me. "Ji told me that a samurai needs balance mentally and physically. We balance each other out better than we do when paired with the rest of the team individually." He gently took my hand and guided it to the Disc. "I need your help to master the Disc."

Normally, I would have felt slightly flustered, but as I looked up at him, I saw the trust in his eyes. He was putting his life in my hands as much as I would put mine in his, and he was right. We did make a good duo.

I took a deep breath before I nodded to him, placing my free hand on his hands. "Okay. Let's get the Beetle Disc mastered and kick that Nighlok's butt when he comes back."

He smiled at me as we shared a single nod before he headed to the courtyard and I followed after a moment before stopping as I realized what had transpired, my blush hitting me hard and making me smile and giggle to myself like a schoolgirl.

(No POV)

As the moon rose up that night, Bekah stepped outside in her training gear, basking in the moonlight momentarily before she walked over and stood by Jayden, giving him a single nod to start.

He nodded back and locked the Beetle Disc on his Fire Smasher, swinging his huge blade around like before, but when he stopped and held it straight ahead, Bekah placed her hands on the weapon as well, both of them struggling against the immense power. For Bekah, it was like she was drying up from the inside out, her face showing a pained expression of determination as she fought to see this through.

But their teamwork was cut short when they were knocked back and hit the ground with her landing on top of him.

She looked down and blushed fiercely upon realizing their position. "Sorry!" She scrambled off him and straightened herself out in a fluster.

He smiled as he sat up. "Don't be. We actually lasted at least half a minute there together." He stood upright and walked over, placing his hands on her shoulders. "The important thing is we don't give up, no matter what happens in the backfiring."

She looked up at him and nodded a bit, clearing her throat slightly. "L - let's try it again." She picked up the sword and handed it to him.

He took it and they got back into position, both of them doing the same thing and holding on as much as they could through the pain and struggle, but they got blasted back again, this time with him landing on top of her.

Her blush couldn't have been more fierce at that moment as she couldn't help but think to herself, 'Oh great Sanzu River waves, if this keeps up, I'm gonna get a massive nose bleed and die from embarrassment before Dreadhead comes back! I just seriously hope none of the others are watching!' She let him get up and took his hand, straightening herself out again.

He took notice of her flustered state and chuckled slightly behind his hand, a wry smile coming to his face.

She looked at him in confusion. "What?"

"Nothing. You're just adorable when you blush," he responded.

She felt her heart skip several beats as she looked at him in shock. He thought she was adorable with her blush? That almost made her mind crash like a race car.

She snapped back to reality when she heard another laugh from nearby, spinning around and seeing Mike watching them in amusement. That moment could have made her faint from shock if she wasn't so mortified by that point.

Quickly she grabbed the Spin Sword and refocused, trying to calm her breathing before she glared at Mike. "Abuse this knowledge and you're so going in the Sanzu River!"

He held his hands up in surrender. "Hey, my lips are sealed." He made a zipping motion across his beaming lips before heading back inside.

She sighed softly before she looked at Jayden. "How much do you wanna bet Mike's gonna say something to the others?"

He laughed in amusement and grinned. "Knowing him? There's a solid ten to one chance." He accepted the blade back from her and they refocused on their task at hand, pushing through the pain of the overflowing power to master the Beetle Disc.

(Bekah's POV)

The next morning, Dreadhead was back, just as I had predicted, and while the others headed out to confront him, I braced myself mentally for the task at hand.

Jayden walked over to me and gently took my hand in his. "We can do this. We have to try for the team."

I looked up at him and nodded confidently before we headed out the doors quickly, running to our destination and morphing along the way.

Just as we arrived and saw Kevin about to get a face shot, I let my Owl Zord attack Dreadhead with feather shots and caught it as it came back around.

"That big blade of yer boyfriend's ain't buying youse two any respect! But if y'all wanna tangle, help yerselves!" Dreadhead told us, jumping back and waiting for our move.

I responded by pulling out the Beetle Disc and looking at it with hesitation, but I remembered what Jayden told me. If we truly did balance each other out, we had to prove it here and now!

I locked the Disc in place and gripped the Fire Smasher with Jayden as we swung it around, the flames knocking Dreadhead back before we held it in place, shouting together and summoning all of our mental and physical power to control the Disc.

It changed before our eyes, spreading levers that we each grabbed on one side while holding the cannon aloft with our other hands together. It finally worked this time!

The others were sure amazed as Mike spoke up, "Now that's hot!"

"Hey, guys! Load in your Power Discs!" Jayden told the group, holding his own up for emphasis.

The remaining four quickly ran over and placed their Discs behind mine as they spoke one after the other: "Sure!" "Hope!" "This!" "Helps!"

Dreadhead got up and saw our weapon. "Whatcha got there, runts? Rainbow pea shooter?"

"Not even close!" I retorted before speaking with Jayden in unison: "Multi Disc Beetle Cannon!"

The others kneeled down behind us as Dreadhead scoffed. "Useless pile of junk!" He fired at us, but we were definitely ready this time, Jayden and I pushing the lever forward as we shouted, "Fire Strike!" Our attack projected a flaming beetle surrounded by shadows as it pushed past the blasts and struck Dreadhead dead on!

"What in the world?! My dreadlocks feel like lead locks! This can't be happening!" The Nighlok shouted before he exploded.

I sighed in relief as Jayden shouldered the Fire Smasher and spoke up, "Guys, hold up on the celebrating! This Nighlok's about to get a lot bigger!"

And of course Dreadhead came back. Round two, which meant our Zords had to combine, and combine we did.

"Time to give Dreadhead a mega haircut!" I declared as we made the Megazord swing at the mega monster, but just like before, our sword wasn't able to touch him.

I made the Megazord get our shield out and block the shots, thinking quickly as Jayden mentioned us trying something else. Then I had a brilliant idea, looking at him quickly. "Maybe there is something else we can try!" I took the lead and grabbed the Beetle Disc from my belt, spinning it on my console. "Beetle Zord, activate!"

The Zord came out from flames wrapping around the Mega Blade and landed in front of us before I teleported into the cockpit and locked my mega blade in place. "Time to put this puppy in drive and return fire!" I pushed the controls forward and started heading at Dreadhead.

"Don't think you can bug me with your new mechanical contraption!" He tried shooting at me, but it missed.

"Well, guess what? Things are gonna get real buggy for you, pal!" I let the Beetle Zord grab Dreadhead by his leg and spun the Disc, letting the Zord flip him over and send him crashing to the ground.

As the Zord rejoined the others, Dreadhead got up and looked around. "I'm bringing in the exterminators! Giant Moogers, move in! Give them the business!"

As expected, Moogers appeared. Archers, to be more precise. As they drew their bowstrings, I pushed the controls and let Beetle Zord blast them first before I drew my Mega Blade out. "Now for the true battle." I spun the Beetle Disc and held my sword up. "Samurai Artillery!"

The Zord separated as its legs attached to the arms and the head became the new helmet for the Megazord.

I rejoined the others and spoke with them, "Beetle Blaster Megazord, armed for battle!"

"Let's see how useless you think this is, Nighlok!" I taunted Dreadhead while locking my Mega Blade back in place and put the Disc on the pedestal.

"Jayden, Bek, what's going on?" Mike asked us curiously.

"Explanations later! Focus!" I responded quickly and we got ready as we pushed our controls forward and shot down the archer Moogers, slashing the bladed Moogers back before blasting them next.

"You're next, Dreadhead!" I snapped courageously.

"Haven't ya sussed it out? Your sword's useless against me!" He responded in kind.

"Who said anything about using our sword this time?" Jayden quipped, pushing the controls forth and blasting Dreadhead before we all activated our Mega Blades for the finisher.

"Rotating Beetle Blaster!" We all spoke in unison and spun our discs, the Beetle head making a giant ball of energy that it fired at Dreadhead and struck dead on.

"Oh shoot! Next time, use less! Cause you just made me useless!" Dreadhead groaned as he fell over and exploded.

I sighed softly in relief and let Jayden speak the finisher phrase, "Samurai Rangers, victory is ours."

I wiped myself forehead slightly and smiled a bit as I looked at him. "That was a real blast."

He chuckled slightly and smiled behind his helmet, placing a hand on my shoulder. "I couldn't have done it without you."

(No POV)

Back at Rainbow's End after Bekah had suggested it for their next day off, she walked alongside Emily and Jayden, bringing the group some cotton candy.

Kevin accepted his while shaking his head. "This really isn't aligned with my training diet."

"True, but it's cool," Bekah told him, shrugging slightly.

Jayden nodded in agreement. "Cotton candy and a day off can be good for you. Ji reminded me that keeping balance in our mind is important. It lets us be at our best."

Bekah nodded back. "Sometimes we also need someone to help us with balance." She unabashedly held Jayden's hand this time as she spoke.

Kevin smiled and bit into his cotton candy as Mike told him, "Come on, you stick in the mud! The rides are this way!"

The group headed off as Emily spoke excitedly, "Gosh, my first rollercoaster!"

Bekah chuckled slightly and looked at Jayden, letting him put a little bit in her mouth as she did the same for him.

The team loaded up on the roller coaster as soon as they finished their cotton candy, Bekah sitting next to Jayden, and they cheered excitedly as they threw their hands up on the fun ride.

Whew, this was pretty good to see happen for the gang! A day off is always nice, especially when it comes to work. And amusement parks are pretty fun. I still remember my first time in Hersheyland and my own first rollercoaster. Ah, good times. Anywhoozles, read and review as per usual. See you guys next time!
