Chapter Nine:
Time to Wake Up and Visit Peach
A late afternoon breeze swept over the Mushroom Kingdom, flowing through the lush, colorful landscape, and the wind passed over the house of one Super Mario. Bells chimed and a mustached man in red-blue overalls stepped outside, taking in the view. He stared out at the castle in the distance, his mind focused on a certain individual; Princess Peach.
In all of the years that he'd fought Bowser to save her, Mario was very fond of Peach and could never stop thinking about her whenever she came to his mind. All of those cakes, every kiss she gave him, and the times they'd spent together were all very special.
"Man, I wish we could have a vacation." The heroic Italian plumber remarked, "Not to mention potentially taking another trip to Isle Delfino."
Mario started to think, he cupped his chin and glanced up to the sky in a thoughtful manner, then the thought of Princess Peach resurfaced and an idea instantly clicked. Mario snapped his fingers and remarked, "I got it."
Perhaps today felt ideal to see her, Mario didn't mind that at all. But there was no way he was visiting the princess alone. Hopefully Luigi wasn't too tired after working on his broken kart following the race with Waluigi, Mario was willing to let him sleep, but his little brother couldn't just sleep in bed forever. He had to get up at some point, perhaps it was time he woke up.
The intrepid Italian plumber headed back inside the house, shut the door softly, and went upstairs to the bedroom. Luigi lay in bed, sleeping soundly, Mario could hear him muttering something along the lines of "mama mia" and something about "ravioli."
Brothers were so alike sometimes, even though Luigi was younger and a little more timid compared to his big brother.
Mario looked up at the picture of Peach on the wall by his bed and he let out a soft dreamy sigh, thinking about the princess made him feel very happy. When he snapped back to reality, the heroic spaghetti-loving plumber moved towards the side of his sleepy little brother's bed, then he tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey, Luigi?" The red hat-wearing plumber said, "Wakey-wakey, bro. Yoohoo!"
Luigi began to stir, hearing the sound of his big brother's voice in his ear. He opened his eyes and let out a groggy groan, the green-clad plumber questioned what time it was and rolled over to look at the clock on the bedside. As he took in the time, Luigi then noticed Mario standing next to him.
"Oh, hey, Mario..." The green Italian muttered, "What is it? It's 5:48 P.M. People do need their sleep."
"Sorry to wake you up, bro, but I was just-a thinking." Mario told his little brother, "You interested in what my idea is?"
"Okie-dokie, what is it?" Luigi asked curiously, despite feeling tired.
"Well..." Mario explained, "How about we go visit Peach at the castle, then we can head to Fuji City with Toad and Yoshi to see E. Gadd? I heard they made some sort of new special secret weapon that can help us fight Bowser the next time he attacks the Kingdom."
"Eh, why is this weapon considered a secret?" Luigi inquired.
"Because if Bowser found out about it and he got his hands on the weapon, the entire Mushroom Kingdom will be doomed."
"Mama mia!" Luigi exclaimed, "Now you're telling me that? Okay, then lets-a get going."
The Mario Bros made their way out of the house, breathing in the fresh air as they journeyed along the dirt road leading away from their home. They came upon a green Warp Pipe outside their front lawn and leaped inside to make their journey to the castle, where the princess awaited.
As they journeyed through the twisting warp within the great green pipe, it almost felt like the Mario Brothers were heading off on another adventure, and neither of them knew that the world would truly be facing danger again, very soon...
