Special Events / Policy Changes

- On the way to the Peacekeepers' stables, the tributes broke into a riot. Two Peacekeepers died by the hands of the tributes.

Arena

- The same dilapidated amphitheater used for the first two games.

- Marina Matos escaped Diamond Broadbent's attack by throwing a water bottle at his head, which bounced off comically. Dr. Gaul, reminded of Simon Reeve's oddities the year prior, made a note of humankind's creative means to survive.

- The increased accessibility to the wooden shields drew the length of these games out massively.

Notable Tributes

Essence Rutgers - District 1 Female
Age: 18
Appearance: Blue eyes / Long, straight, blonde hair / Light skin / Tall and lithe
Placed 4th / Died in Hour 10 / Throat slashed with a scythe by Cropper Hedlund (D9M)

- Born into a family in the Woodworkers' Guild. She spent her youth learning the trade and, as a result, was heavily skilled with knives.

- She received Capitol interest upon being reaped due to her good looks and powerful presence. Her attractiveness alone got a large amount of Capitolites to watch the third games.

- Miles Ivov cornered her in the entrance tunnels and tried to sexually assault her. She defended herself aptly and slit his throat. After that' she retreated to the stands so she wasn't in the dark and she had a wall to her back.

- She wouldn't touch the bottles of water, fearful that they were poisoned.

- Concordia approached her for an alliance in the arena. She accepted the offer, and the two worked together until they died.

Concordia Gallego - District 2 Female
Age: 18
Appearance: Hazel eyes / Medium, wavy, brown hair / Light skin / Short and well-fed
Placed 5th / Died in Hour 10 / Knife thrown into back by Antonius Doyle (D4M)

- Concordia hailed from a long line of Peacekeepers in District 2. Her parents, Marcos and Valeria Gallego, both served in the Peacekeeper force, instilling a strong sense of duty and loyalty to her district and the Capitol in Concordia. She grew up in a military village just beneath Capitol territory.

- Concordia exhibited natural leadership qualities from a young age, often taking charge in group settings and inspiring her peers with her confidence and determination. She was known for her ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick, decisive decisions in challenging situations.

- As she advanced in her training, Concordia took on a mentorship role for younger Peacekeeper recruits. She was beloved amongst the young cadets.

- Throughout the Games, Concordia grappled with moral dilemmas and ethical questions about the nature of survival and the price of victory.

- Concordia employed hit-and-run tactics to harass her opponents. By striking swiftly and retreating into the shadows before her enemies could retaliate, she could chip away at their defenses and gradually wear them down, without exposing herself to unnecessary risks.

Antonius Doyle - District 4 Male
Age: 16
Appearance: Blue eyes / Medium, wavy, black hair / Brown skin / Average-height and well-fed
Placed 3rd / Died in Hour 10 / Stabbed in the heart with a sword by Secundinus Locke (D2M)

- Antonius Doyle grew up in the largest town in District 4. He had access to better educational opportunities and amenities compared to some of the smaller coastal communities, reflecting his family's involvement in the District 4's industry.

- Antonius inherited a collection of antique fishing lures from his grandfather. Each lure held sentimental value and reminded him of his family's long history in the fishing industry.

- When he saw how young some of the kids were, he cried for them privately in his own corner of the stables.

- Knowing the importance of conserving energy, Antonius strategically planned periods of rest to recharge his stamina. He sought out secluded areas within the amphitheater where he could rest undisturbed, keeping a vigilant watch for potential threats while allowing his body to recover from exertion.

- He hid several of the wooden shields in the shadows so that he'd be one of the few who could utilise them.

Cropper Hedlund - District 9 Male
Age: 17
Appearance: Hazel eyes / Short, straight, black hair / Brown skin / Tall and underweight
Placed 2nd / Died in Hour 10 / Stabbed in the heart with a sword by Secundinus Locke (D2M)

- Cropper hailed from a migrant worker family in District 9.

- In addition to his agricultural expertise, Cropper possessed a deep knowledge of healing practices passed down through generations of his family. He was skilled in preparing herbal remedies and poultices, drawing on the medicinal plants found in the district's fields and forests. He was seen trying to replicate some kind of paste from the weeds growing through the concrete in the arena, but he was unsuccessful.

- Cropper possessed a vivid imagination and a gift for storytelling. He entertained his fellow workers during long evenings in the migrant camps, spinning tales of adventure, romance, and heroism that transported them from the harsh realities of their daily lives.

- Despite his defiance of the Capitol's authority, Cropper formed unexpected friendships with some of the games staff behind the scenes. They were punished when one was caught sneaking him a water bottle.

- Cropper possessed a sharp eye for detail and was adept at reading his surroundings for signs of danger or opportunity.

Lillian Cunha - District 11 Female
Age: 16
Appearance: Brown eyes / Medium, long, wavy hair / Dark skin / Tall and wiry
Placed 8th / Died in Hour 9 / Throat slashed with a sword by Secundinus Locke (D2M)

- Lillian Cunha was born and raised in one of the migrant worker camps scattered throughout District 11. Her childhood was marked by poverty and hardship, as she and her family struggled to eke out a living working in the fields.

- In the arena, Lillian proved to be a formidable competitor, drawing on her skills honed through years of working in the fields. She was resourceful, agile, and cunning.

- Lillian had a soft spot for sunflowers, with their vibrant yellow petals and towering stalks. She found them to be a symbol of resilience and hope, blooming brightly even in the harshest of conditions.

- She was the youngest of eleven, and her parents were in their mid-sixties at the time she was reaped.

- She broke Miles Ivov's hand on the train to the Capitol when he tried to stick his hand down her pants.

Victor

Secundinus Locke - District 2 Male
Age: 17
Appearance: Brown eyes / Short, curly, black hair / Dark skin / Tall and lithe

- Born into a military family and raised with deeply loyalist ideology. His family were passionate supporters of the Capitol and fought the rebels in District 2 during the Dark Days. Though he was only a young teenager during the war, his father pumped him with lessons about the state of the country without the Capitol's rule.

- Upon his name being drawn, Secundinus presumed his father would be begging for the mayor to redraw a name. Instead, his father met him at the train station and told him it was an honor to be chosen. He was meant to 'rid the districts of more rebel scum'.

- He was among Dr. Gaul's picks for victor, though she thought he was a bit too quiet to be aggressive in the arena. She was surprised when he displayed astute focus in the games. When he was pulled from the arena, the only injury he'd received was a shallow cut across his left calf.

- Ran from the initial fighting and waited until roughly half the field was dead.

- Secundinus killed four: Frida (7), Lillian (11), Antonius (4), Cropper (9).

- After the games, he returned to District 2 and returned to school, training to become a Peacekeeper. In a cruel twist of fate, he was paralysed from the waist down in a training accident.

- Every year after his victory when the bodies returned on the train, he sat at the station, hoping one of the kids would step out on their own accord rather then being tossed onto the pavement in a sack. No matter how depressed he got year after year, he held out hope that someone in Two would share the same trauma he did.

- He moved into the Victors' Village upon its completion just after the eleventh games. His home was modified for his wheelchair. When victors were pulled to mentor from the twentieth anniversary onward, there were other male victors who could do so. He never showed much interest in the games beyond his friendships with new District 2 victors.

- He would never marry, but he did have a longtime partner; Caecilia Worthe. They met when she applied to be the gardener for the Victors' Village on the year of the sixteenth games. They had two daughters; Pompona and Juno.

- He wasn't friendly with many victors not from his own district, but he got along well with Divine. He occasionally traveled to the Capitol during the games to catch up with her, and they called each other at least twice a week. He was devastated upon the news of her death.

- He died of heart disease in November of the year of the fiftieth Hunger Games.
