Daphne sat in the dining room replaying the conversation over in her head. The thought that Harry loved her gave her all sorts of conflicting emotions. Her heart felt like it would beat out of her chest. Her hands grew cold and damp and it felt like a pack of cornish pixies nested within her stomach.
She thought that knowing the boy she loved, loved her back would be exhilarating. That it would be a moment full of joy. So why did she only feel the wisps of fear and dread.
Hearing several footsteps coming down the stairs Daphne did her best to school her feature. Tucking her rampant emotions away she turned in time to greet her mother and Harry.
"Is it time mother?"
"Yes I've left a note for your father. Come your wand awaits." Tora said a proud smile adorning her face
Tora made her way out to the garden. Daphne hesitated sparing a short glance at Harry who had yet to look at her. He seemed deep in thought.
"Come along Harry, mother doesn't like to be kept waiting." Daphne called out softly
Harry shaken from his musings shot Daphne a small but genuine smile. The pair then hurried out to the garden.
"Now this is a international portkey so the ride is going to be longer and a bit more rough. So hold on tightly." Tora explained while holding out a length of golden rope
After several minutes of pulling and spinning the portkey dropped them at their destination. Tora watched in amusement as Harry landed knees first only to slide another foot before faceplanting. Somehow he managed to drag Daphne with him as she stumbled before falling on top of him knocking all the wind out of him.
"Well you certainly weren't exaggerating your lack of skill in magical travel." Tora chuckled before helping both of them up
Looking around they were in another garden. He saw a pool and a two story house. The house sat on a hill overlooking a large city.
"Where are we?" Harry asked after catching his breath
"We are in Athens, Greece. This is one of my many warehouses I use for business. We're here to meet one of my husband's cousins. He is an excellent wandmaker and has made many wands for the Greengrass family as his father and grandfather before him. Now come we're off to the Temple of Hephaestus." Tora said
Harry looked over to Daphne who merely shrugged before giving him a small smirk and following after her mother. Heaving a sigh Harry trudged after them still feeling the effects of his portkey landing.
Harry had a look of wonder on his face as they walked through Athens. He couldn't wait to begin his world adventure.
"Don't worry, Harry. We'll bring you back, and you can really explore the temples and anything else that catches your eye. First, we need to get Daphne's wand." Tora said
-TGE-
When they finally made it to the temple, Harry could feel the magic practically oozing out of the walls. Tora noticed his wide-eyed gaze looking every which way.
"You can feel it, can't you? This temple houses one of the many gates to the magical side of Athens. The magical side of Athens is one of three main settlements. Much like we have Diagon Alley back home, Athens has Athina Nikitria, which means 'Athena victorious'." Tora explained
"Why is it called that?" Harry asked
"Well, to understand that you must know that in ancient times what the muggles saw and referred to as their gods and goddesses were actually incredibly powerful witches and wizards. Each which and wizard specialized in certain areas of magic and used their power to benefit everyone across the land. The muggles began to worship them as deities and made offerings and prayers."
"Makes sense."
"Now for the city of Athens, it was eventually named as such due to Athena winning a legendary duel against Poseidon. The muggle king then named the city after her. The magicals followed suit." Tora finished
"What about the other two magical settlements?" he asked
"The first would be Sparta. It was chosen due to its status as one of the major city states in ancient times. The magical and muggle sides share the same name for reasons of simplicity." Tora explained
"The other is Olympus. It's where the magical government of Greece resides. It's considered the capital of the magical districts." Daphne said
"Well, if we're all content with the history lessons, I believe it's time to take the gate and meet Hephaestus." Tora chided lightly
Stepping through a set of pillars in the back of the temple was a staggering feeling for Harry. It was like the world inverted for a moment. Then, he was able to truly register what he was seeing.
A whole separate city is magically on top of the old one. Hidden and built with magic. It was amazing. The architecture held resemblance of that from ancient times yet mixed with the modern era. The scent of food wafted through the streets. The sounds of life echoed across the city.
As Tora led them to their destination, Harry turned to Daphne with questions.
"You seemed to take the transition through the gate well. Have you been here before?"
"Yes and no. I've been to several areas in each of the magical districts of Greece, but I've never visited Uncle Hephaestus for a wand." she said
"We're here." Tora announced
The building they stood in front of was almost a near replica of the Temple of Hephaestus that they entered through. Walking inside was completely different. Wands upon wands lined the walls in glass display cases. Each careful marked not for sale.
Harry was amazed at some of the elegant designs as well as the potent magic he could feel in the shop. Daphne, too, was looking at each wand in wonder, curious how her own would look once it was crafted.
"Ah Tora, my favorite non-blood related family member." a voice said from behind them
"Uncle Hephaestus!" Daphne screamed, turning in fright
"Daphne, my favorite niece, how are you. How has Greece been treating you so far." Hephaestus asked with a smile
"I could do without the family induced heart attacks. Thank you very much." Daphne snarked before giving him a hug
Harry couldn't help but snicker at the situation. It seemed like Daphne was scared relatively easily. He noticed Tora also had a smirk on her face.
"We're here for a wand, Hephaestus. Daphne's wand, to be exact." Tora said
Hephaestus gasped and looked to Daphne, an unasked question brimming in his eyes. Daphne knew what he was asking and hesitantly nodded her head. Hephaestus hugged her tightly for a moment before letting her go and making his way to the back of the shop.
Tora followed, asking the Hephaestus a couple of questions. Harry started to follow when he noticed Daphne stood still, her gaze on the wall of wands.
"Hey, you ok?" he asked
"Yeah, I guess I'm just nervous. What if my wand is a plain as one at Ollivander's. I hate to have come all this way for a wand that could've been acquired back home."
"Daphne, if there's one thing I've learned in all my time with you and your family, it's that you are anything but plain. You are an incredibly unique and wonderful young woman, and I'm sure that your wand will be much of the same. Now let's go get that wand." Harry said, holding out his hand
Daphne took a moment, digesting his words before she took his hand and held it all the way to the back of the shop. Harry didn't even say anything when she didn't let go, even when they stood in the back with Tora and Hephaestus.

An hour had passed since Daphne had chosen all her wand components. Tora, Harry, and Daphne were sat in a waiting room towards the front of the shop. It was a similar process to how Harry got his wand but with some differences. Daphne was made to sit in the center of the room on a gold plate with several rings of runes etched into it. She then channeled her magic into the gold plate she was sat upon.
Her magic then traveled along gold rods connected to each cabinet that held all the wand components. Within moments across several cabinets components were glowing softly with Daphne's magic. Hephaestus was quick to collect them all and shoo them out of the room.
After waiting so long Daphne was starting to get nervous again. Tora had dozed off in her chair. Harry had noticed how nervous Daphne felt and had taken his wand out. He basked in the feeling it gave him each time he held it.
"Daphne come here." he said softly, patting the chair next to him
Daphne gave him a curious look before sitting down.
"Here, hold this." he said offering his wand to her
Daphne looked deep into his eyes as she carefully took his wand. She gasped as she felt its warmth rush up her arms and settle over her heart. Another gasp escaped her lips as small red and blue sparks emerged from the tip. It was at that moment Hephaestus walked in holding a velvet pillow with a silk cloth draped over it.
Handing Harry his wand Daphne noticed the warmth leave quickly. Tucking that away to think about later she was ready to see her wand. Hephaestus pulled the cloth away revealing a gorgeous wand.
"It's beautiful Uncle Hephaestus." Daphne said
"What's it made of?" asked Harry
"The wand itself is calacatta marble imported from Italy. It contains a gold spiraling that's partially inlayed for the handle with a sizeable fire opal fixated on the butt of the handle. The core is made from three separate components. The first is a dragon heartstring from a Swedish short-snout. The other two components are venom from a manticore and-"
"Water from the Blessed Pools of the North." Tora interjected
"What are the Blessed Pools?" asked Harry
"They're a sacred magical site, much like Stonehenge. The only difference is these pools belong to my family, my maiden family. The Eldens have used these pools for generations. Each child born of Elden blood is bathed in the pools before their first birthday." Tora explained
Seeing Harry's still slight confused face Daphne spoke up.
"What my mother left out is that my bath in the Pools is more significant than most. I was born premature and weak. I was practically blind in my right eye. My parents were distraught, the healers at St. Mungos said I had less than a four percent chance of survival. My mother wanting to keep to tradition and told my father that if I were to die it would be after I had bathed in the pools. They knew I would never survive an international portkey so we went by boat. All the way across the North sea to Gothenburg, Sweden.' Daphne paused taking a shaky breath, 'We were met by my great grandmother who guided us to the pools. When they dipped me in a bright magical light enveloped myself and the pool. It died down after a couple minutes and all that could be heard were the cries of a healthy baby girl. The pools healed me completely, even restoring the sight in my eye."
Tora had tears in her eyes. Those moments in her life were still sensitive when talked about. Hephaestus hung his head at the solemn story, taking a moment to process it. Harry swallowed the lump in his throat. It was an odd thought to think that both of them almost didn't get the chance to grow up. Tora spoke wanting to dispel the melancholic atmosphere.
"Enough of that. Come now Daphne you have a wand to bond with."
Daphne nodded at her mother and turned to pick up her wand. It felt heavy in her hand as a familiar warmth soaked her whole body. Orange, blue and white sparks flung happily from the tip. She could feel the wand calling to her, to let her magic sing. Spinning around she flicked her wand and watched as Harry was trussed up like a holiday turkey. Another flick and he was subjected to a tickling jinx.
Tora couldn't help but pull her daughter into a tight hug. She was beyond grateful her daughter had survived. She was even more proud that she was standing here today with her custom wand. Both Greengrass women laughed as Harry was tickled.
AN: so i know i said id skip alot of the daphnes wand bit and i did skip most the material choosing but as i was writing i was given a perfect opportunity to explore some background of not just Daphne but her mothers familial roots as well.
Now that both of them have custom wands, we'll see some more world adventures in the coming chapters as well as more relationship progression.
to answer a couple reviews as well, to who said that you cant believe they haven't progressed further in their relationship i say this: no offense doesnt matter what you believe, canon harry was a bumbling fool when it came to relationships, this harry is a bit similar. harry as a character is socially stunted imo. any relationship he gets into will probably start slow and be a bit rocky. that being said i dont want this to be some super slow burn so they will be progress soon enough
to the who mentioned the flight times all the way from like chapter 3: normally youd be right except i looked into the time differences of london and hawaii and its roughly 12hours so instead of the 1am you proposed dialing back 12 hours makes it 1pm the same day.
and just a bit of advice on the one who mention the hermoine and ron bit. dont focus too much there ive mentioned before that they wont hold much presence in the story. their reconciliation as friends is a bit open ended because 1. theyre barely teenagers not all friendships last. 2. i agree they barely hold anything in common besides being friends with harry but both characters hold many flaws imo
bit of a long note but until next. enjoy:)
