A Mother Knows Her Child
Lady Shiva moved with silent grace, her goal in mind absolute. The black coat she wore over her bodysuit fluttered behind her. Thanks to the League's many connections, finding out where her target was being treated was a simple task, but one that had it's own challenges by itself. Sprinting across a rooftop with unrivaled lightness, she made her way to the Gotham General Hospital. Recalling the information she memorized, the room she had to find was on the fourth floor, a private suite. Sticking close to the shadows, Shiva slipped by the cameras and street lights with ease before arriving at the side of the hospital.
Using a grapple gun, she fired a hook to the roof and easily scaled the side of the building. Reaching the correct floor, she slipped through the slightly ajar window of the hospital room, her eyes immediately drawn to the figure lying motionless on the bed. A young man, with white hair and a short stubble growing around his chin. Nero's face was pale, likely from the blood loss her suffered when his right forearm was torn from his body. The young man's breathing shallow as he lay in the grip of unconsciousness.
Approaching his bedside with measured steps, Lady Shiva's expression remained impassive, but a subtle furrow creased her brow as she observed Nero's condition. She stood silently for several moments, her arms behind her back as she looked down at the young man. Recalling all the information the League and the Light had on him.
In a way, Nero represented everything she believed was unnecessary for a warrior to be effective in combat. As a swordsman, the boy was brash, aggressive, passionate, and wild as shown by how aggressive he is in combat when wielding his sword: Red Queen. Not at all like her daughter, Cassandra, whom she molded to be the perfect assassin. And yet, Nero proved to be a very gifted swordsman, rising through the ranks for the Order of the Sword, becoming one of their most skilled members.
Even Deathstroke commented on how brutal, yet effective Nero was in combat.
However, she could not deny that she herself was impressed by the fortitude and willingness he displayed when fighting. That still didn't explain why she was here right now. No, her reason to see the young demon hunter was more out of character for someone like Shiva. Losing limbs was no surprise given their line of work, except for the fact that in this case, it bothered her in a way she could not explain. Shiva herself had done much worse to her own daughter, severing her daughter's vocal cords when she was still an infant and deny her learning to read, so that the only language her child would learn would be body language.
Reaching out, she brushed a strand of hair from Nero's forehead, her movements delicate yet filled with a quiet tenderness that belied her reputation as a fearsome warrior. In that moment, as she stood vigil over the injured Hunter, Lady Shiva's steely facade softened, revealing the depth of her maternal instinct beneath the surface of her serene exterior.
Could it be from the fact that a warrior and fighter like Nero had been hampered by the loss of a limb, and as a warrior herself, she felt saddened by the fact? Or was it about that it was done to her own son?

Also, next chapter is gonna be a series of interactions between Nero and several Injustice Characters. I could use some ideas on possible interactions/exchanges between characters. Open to suggestions because it's tricky coming up with so many interactions. Do have some ideas between some characters, so I'll just list the ones I am having trouble with and am open to suggestions. Atrocitus, Bane, Batman, Batgirl, Black Adam, Catwoman, The Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Harley Quinn, Joker, Killer Frost, Lex Luthor (Injustice Variant), Raven, Superman, and Zatanna. Also note, in this story, Injustice and DMC exist in the same universe, so some characters have met before. Also, these interactions will take place after Nero loses Devil Bringer, aka his right arm (It's injustice, it was bound to happen). In any case, I look forward to what suggestions you all come up with.
