23. chapter 22

Morning

Mito fluttered her eyes opened and held her stomach, she groaned feeling a big bruise on there*

Mito:what happened last...

Mito woke up completely in a jump, a mistake really but she had adrenaline coursing through her veins to help ignore the pain, the events of last night still playing in her mind.*

She heard the man singing from outside, glanced around and got out of the make shift shelter the stranger made for them, he saw set man sitting next to a fire place cooking what can only be breakfast.*

Mito:uh, good morning?

Naruto glanced at the red hair girl and then looked back at the food*

Naruto:good morning, glad to see your alright. Relatively speaking, please sit down. Food will be ready shortly, I'm making grilled fish, with some rice, orange slices and orange peel tea

Mito:t..thank you, for the food and...and for last night

Mito said softly as she sat down and waited, Naruto gave mito a stick and to pass the time she poked the fire, looking lost*

Naruto:I'm not gonna force you into it but do you wish to speak on what happened? It might help you clear your mind

Naruto took the fish out the pikes and started serving them. And simply nodded his head*

Naruto:if it'll calm your nervousness go ahead, but remember that our nations are not allies so I might not be able to tell you much

Mito:i understand, kinda dumb question but to get the ball rolling, are you a samurai? Like from iron country?

Mito saw a sense of pride behind the eyes of the man who rescued her, the man who looked almost identical to menma apart from his blond hair and lack of whiskers*

Naruto pointed to her food, she nodded and they both started to eat while they talked, mito had to admit this samurai cooked a good fish*

Naruto grabbed the tea kettle and started pouring tea for the both of them, Naruto looked up in to the sky enjoying the birds chirping*

Naruto:then that's a common miscommunication, we don't think we're better then you Shinobi. We know we are

Naruto; while that is very much true, only 21 and older can go in go battle. Those who are in training to become samurai can go down 3 roads. Road one they quit and go live there lives as civilian be it it's too hard for them, or they found a different passion in life, there's no shame in that, this life is not for the weak of heart

Naruto:Road number two, they stay in iron country and train till they're 21 becoming monsters that can destroy armies of Shinobi alone without the need for those jutsu you all use

Naruto:and finally group number 3 that's were my two friends Mugen, Zheng shi and me fall under. We chose to explore the elemental nations be it by land or sea, to expand our minds in intellectual and spiritual knowledge, once we reach the age of 21 we return back to iron country and start our life's as samurai's but lower rank samurai's since we focus more on the intellectual, tactical, political side of our line of work. We can rank up but it requires patience, something we all have in strives

Naruto:what other reason do I have to be here? I'm samurai not Shinobi, we do not want nor do we need any of the secrets techniques of your people. We see them as dishonorable to use nature for the fighting affairs of human

Mito:i guess that makes sense, I saw how you swapped your weapons. How good are you in fuinjutsu?

Naruto took out the fuinjutsu book he found long ago and gave it to mito, who looked at it impressed, this was the kind of book her mother kept in her private collection*

Naruto;that's the only book I've been able to find on the subject, I've finished and re read it numerous times so I would like to think I'm at least decent at it

Mito: I'll say, this is a level 6 book. Fuinjutsu comes in 10 levels from beginning to master, to master a level six is quite impressive. I'm only at level 2, and my mother at level 9. The only person I've heard of making it all the way to 10 is the woman I'm named after, mito uzumaki the wife of the first Hokage

Naruto"hm, is that the lead miss Takeda talked about? If it is then this trip really will be just a vacation trip, still I might find a book or something that belongs to her"

Naruto:both aren't mutually exclusive, it is one's honor to die for the emperor. It is a samurai's greatest mission to make sure the will of the emperor is followed

Naruto said in a completely calm voice, it made mito a little uncomfortable how happy he looked saying like that*

Mito:still, you don't have any dreams apart from what your emperor tells you to dream?

Naruto:dreams are for the civilians. Samurai sacrifice our dreams so that civilians can live out there own.

Naruto thought off all the stories he was told as a child of grand warriors following the will of there respected emperor, and Naruto wishes to be remembered the same way, as a samurai who followed the emperor's will.*

Mito:but you just said that a samurai sacrifice there dreams for the emperor not the civilians

Naruto:correct, and the emperor's dream is to protect those who can't protect themselves, he wishes for peace so that the civilian can live there life's without worry

Naruto's smile was getting bigger thinking of just how kind the emperor was, mito being more of a free spirit couldn't really understand Naruto's perspective*

Mito; doesn't that make you sad? Don't you regret that this is the path you've chosen?

Naruto:how can I feel regret for the only life I've ever known?

Mito didn't have much more questions after that and they ate in silence. Naruto finished his food first and looked at mito finishing her orange slices*

Naruto:now do you wish to talk about it?

Mito:yes...yes I supposed I'm more calmer now, thank you for that by the way. I...I screwed up, and I screwed up big, I...I didn't graduate the Shinobi exam, I couldn't make a clone. My mom says that's because our clan has too much chakra so it takes extra hard work to make a clone. So my sensei Mizuki, the person you killed. He told me there was still a way I could be a Shinobi if I did this secret test of his. I'm so fucking stupid for believing him

Mito said as tears of frustration started to fall from her face, she rubbed them off furiously*

Naruto:i don't believe you're stupid. You trusted the words of someone your supposed to trust, if you can't trust your own teacher who can you trust?

Mito started thinking of what her parents will do to her, will her father be merciful or will he place his role as Hokage first? Mito is terrified of the answer*

Naruto:answer me something, how can you blame a soldier for following the orders of his commander?

Mito:I know what your saying i...i just don't know what am I gonna do...

Mito hugged her legs legs, Naruto got up and sat next to her, he rubbed his back and spoke In a kind voice, it was still firm but there was a softness do it*

Naruto:go home, and tell the truth. It's your only hope to regain the honor that was stripped from you

Mito:I'm scared...

Naruto:if it helps I'll accompany you till you reach the door of your home

Mito looked up at the stranger and nodded, they both got up, Naruto poured water and dirt on the camp fire and they walked towards Konoha. Even though this samurai is arrogant and looks down on what she and her family does for a living, mito couldn't explain it, she just felt safe next to him. She felt as safe as the few times menma had time to spend with her, it felt nice*
