(Day 39)

"Lucryn, wonderful, alright, now that everyone's here, let me explain your task." Professor Oliver happily says, gesturing for Lucryn to sit. Lucryn takes in the room before slowly walking over and seating himself beside Rye. Of the seven people in the office, Lucryn only knows the professor and Rye. The other four he's seen in passing, but never interacted with.

Professor Oliver gestures to the table where a beautiful egg is placed with a base fiery red color with yellow swirls going throughout it. Being near the egg you could feel the temperature increase, this egg clearly belonging to the fire type. Having done no research on pokemon eggs, Lucryn doesn't recognize the egg.

"Does anyone recognize this egg?" Professor Oliver asks.

A large man with a broadsword on his back responds. "It should be a Slugma egg."

"Correct Gerald, it is indeed a Slugma egg. This egg was found near a volcano by Lavaridge City and given to me for research purposes. Of course, I don't have enough time to handle caring for Slugma, so I came up with the wonderful idea of allowing all of you to care for Slugma. Should Slugma choose one of you to contract after hatching, then I will relinquish my ownership of Slugma to you in return you will add another year to your contract with me."

Lucryn notices how everyone's eyes light up, only Rye seems somewhat unfazed. Lucryn isn't very interested, he already has five pokemon to care for and train, adding another, a baby no less, is pointless if the price is an additional year of his freedom. He'd keep his freedom instead.

Rye leans over to Lucryn, lips brushing his ear. "Don't do it, I'll help you find a different pokemon so don't sign yourself up for an additional year here. You have to join my team, remember?"

Lucryn resists the urge to elbow Rye in the gut for the close contact. Turning his face, his eyes meet Rye's, blankly gazing into Rye's dark eyes, not noticing how Rye's cheeks redden, realizing how close they are. If he leaned forward just a tad his lips would...Rye coughs, turning his face away from Lucryn.

Lucryn blinks, wondering what just happened. He was pretty sure Rye wouldn't stop until he's positive Lucryn wouldn't accept the professor's deal. Shrugging, he thinks nothing more on it.

"Now, if you are still interested please stay, the rest of you may leave." Professor Oliver states. Rye stands up, grasping Lucryn's sleeve and giving it a tug. Lucryn looks at the fingers pinching his shirt sleeve, feeling his mark warm up as some not so nice thoughts enter his mind. Rising, Lucryn roughly pulls his arm back, removing Rye's fingers.

Rye gives him a sad look, indicating for Lucryn to hurry and follow him out. Lucryn does follow Rye out, not because Rye asked, but because he truly has no interest in that egg. Aside from them, only a woman left, the other three remaining behind. "Good job, I promise to help you find a better pokemon than Slugma, so don't be sad."

Lucryn emotionlessly gazes at Rye, the woman who was on her way out looks over, having overheard the conversation between the two. 'Why do I feel like he's treating the cute kid like a dog he can coax with a bone? No wait, are pokemon so easy to find and contract? Perhaps finding them is easy, but getting them to agree to enter into a contract?!'

Shaking her head, the woman walks off, treating what she heard as fools boasting. Perhaps in a few years she'd look back on this day and realize just how wrong she had been.

"Come on, come on, let's go train. Torchic's nearing evolution and I want her to be as strong as she can before evolving." Lucryn looks at Rye in intrigue. 'Evolution huh.' If anything, Lucryn had only seen a pokemon un-evolve in the case of Gallade dropping back to Ralts. He had done some research on that and had found it to be a natural condition of contracting. All evolutions would be undone and the pokemon would start back at the beginning. Of course, the pokemon would still know most of the moves it had learned after evolving.

Reaching the training fields, Lucryn summons his two Charcadets. Azrael, Lye and Cye were all back at Steven's home, training in the woods as he requested, remaining out of the sight of the two elite. Azrael is still training psychic, with a side training involving Lye that Lucryn had come up with. Azrael could use the move teleport, of course it took a toll on him to use it a lot, but Lucryn had Azrael surprise attack Azrael every now and then with Shadow Ball.

The goal of the exercise is for Azrael to sense the incoming attack through the use of psychic, and use teleport to dodge. While Lucryn can't communicate with the three due to the distance between them being too great, Lucryn can assume how it's going. 'By this point, Azrael's probably lost his cool.'

Focusing back on his Charcadet's, he commands them on how to train. All of his pokemon had made great progress, but Lucryn was rather put off by their progress. 'Only this much...how pathetic.'

Of course, Lucryn didn't blame them for being unable to learn, but himself for being unable to teach. Still, the progress is noticeable, so Lucryn doesn't think too hard on the matter.

Omni launches at Blayz, beginning to kick and punch, not using any fire type moves, solely relying on his body. Blayz defends in a similar way, without the use of moves. It's similar to a fight between humans, but with the echoing boom when they manage to land a blow, it's clear a human would be smashed to bits.

Charcadets were most attune to fire-type moves, but they also are known for learning normal type moves with the occasional ghost type moves, but thanks to Lucryn's training, both of them had shockingly developed two fighting type moves. Double Kick and Drain Punch. Double Kick isn't bad in terms of offensive capabilities, but Lucryn's interest mainly fell on Drain Punch. By inflicting damage through Drain Punch, the two recover their physical strength. This move excites Lucryn's strategist mind as thousands of battle strategies revolving around the move come to him.

During the fight, the two constantly unleash Double Kick and Drain Punch upon each other, rolling on the ground in a tangle of limbs when they were too tired and unable to care about anything but winning. Lucryn is rather amused by the two, for such laidback pokemon, they train hard. Blayz suddenly punches Omni in the chest, a loud noise sounding out from the impact, Blayz flying a few feet back and rolling on the ground.

Nursing his chest, Blayz sits up, Lucryn walking over to Omni who staggeringly stood up.

Lucryn: That was a move.

Lucryn could tell, he had sensed the buildup of energy coating Omni's fist, he knew it was a move, but it wasn't Drain Punch. Lucryn had watched many battle videos over the course of a month, having witnessed many moves being used, and he had an inkling of what the move is.

Lucryn: Use it again.

Omni goes to punch forward, the punch being completely normal. Omni huffs, trying again, and then again, and then again. Lucryn stops Omni from continuing to uselessly beat at the air. Using a move doesn't mean mastery, just because Omni used the move and has gained the move doesn't mean he can effortlessly use it. Training will be needed to bring the move out again. Omni has used the move and has a feeling for it, now it's simply learning how to use it at will.

All of his pokemon had been working hard on mastering the moves in their arsenal, learning how to cancel the move activation as quickly as possible as Lucryn requested. While the progress was slow, to Lucryn it is noticeable. Every second in battle is precious, learning to utilize every second is something Lucryn knows by heart.

Lucryn: Rest for a bit and do the stretches I taught you two. In an hour resume fighting each other. Omni, try to grasp the feeling of using that move. Blayz, watch Omni closely, don't be reckless.

Omni: Yes

Blayz: Understood

The two begin stretching, Lucryn focusing on his Z-tablet as he writes out the info he's learned about the military. There's 13 battle divisions, and 17 research divisions. These two divisions are the main divisions making up the entire military system. All eight pokemon regions fall under the overall military system with the elite headquarters and the master trainers being the leading force behind the military.

Special Units can be formed if certain conditions are met. These special units fall under the main division leader and can be known as independent forces that complete assignments of their own choosing and simply must earn enough military merit each year to remain as a unit. If they don't receive the necessary military merit each year, they will be disbanded and will likely end up joining the main division troops of the division.

Rye wishes to form a Special Unit under the Militaries Seventh Battle Division. The seventh division isn't assigned to any specific region, which makes things easier in terms of freedom of travel, but they are known as the Strike Division. 'Seventh Division, the strike division.'

In emergencies, the seventh division is almost always one of the first to appear to deal a devastating blow on the enemy. 'Also known as the Assassins of the Night.' Those wishing to join the seventh division are those without valor, those willing to get the job done using any means necessary. Of course, the Assassins of the Night is simply a nickname the division has earned, it doesn't clearly define the members. 'Every battle division has a nickname that somewhat explains their purpose.'

The First Battle Division - Guardians of Kalos

The Second Battle Division - Swords of War

The Third Battle Division - Guardians of Kanto

The Fourth Battle Division - Guardians of Hoenn

The Fifth Battle Division - Shields of Valor

The Sixth Battle Division - Guardians of Johto

The Seventh Battle Division - Assassins of the Night

The Eighth Battle Division - Guardians of Galar

The Ninth Battle Division - Healers of the Day

The Tenth Battle Division - Bloody Strategists

The Eleventh Battle Division - Guardians of Sinnoh

The Twelfth Battle Division - Guardians of Alola

The Thirteenth Battle Division - Guardians of Unova

Of the thirteen battle divisions, those with the title of guardians remain located within their region, the remaining five divisions travel back and forth wherever the need is greatest. 'Assassins of the night...not bad.'

"So you're the one they adopted. Aren't you cute." A playful voice carrying an unbridled arrogance reaches Lucryn's ears, sounding so close, he's... Lucryn whirls around, eyes clashing with a pair of ocean blue eyes. An arrogant smirk, refined appearance, an aura of power, Lucryn only has one thought. 'This person is too close!'

Rye looks over at this moment, eyes widening at the sight. Lucryn is standing straight, a man leaning in front of him to be at his height, face inches away from Lucryn's, snowy white hair, and a spade mark under the right eye. 'He's...!'

The man sensing Rye's attention on him glances over, devilishly smirking as he raises a finger to his lips. "Now, now, that would make this game no fun."

The man bends down, finger brushing Lucryn's cheek. "I'll be back little one. Don't forget me." Lucryn lashes out to hit the man, savagely aiming for the mans throat, but he's gone. Hand dropping to his side, Lucryn touches his cheek, unaware his body is trembling. 'To close...to close.'

"Lucryn, you okay? Did he do something to you?" Rye hurries over, resisting the urge to grasp Lucryn by the shoulders and force him to look up at him. The way Lucryn is trembling, Rye can't help but worry.

Lucryn remains still for a long while, when he finally lifts his head, his eyes have the normal emptiness, but Rye can sense it, sense that something is wrong.

'Who is he?' Rye looks down at the question Lucryn wrote out on the Z-tablet. Biting his lip, he debates his answer. The man had made it clear. "He's someone you should avoid. Trust me, he's not good news. He's...a devil."
