Third person pov:
"A thousand years ago, a man and woman fled from England after a plague cost them the life of their eldest daughter. They had heard rumors of The New World and planned to settle there to protect their eldest son and unborn child.
"They found a village in Virginia and had five more children. The father, whom was a viking, was Mikael. His wife, Esther possessed a copious amount of magic and was believed to be the most powerful witch.
"In that village, the Mikaelson's had neighbors that turned into beasts every full moon. While that was dangerous, the Mikaelson's and other villagers lived peacefully alongside them for almost thirty years. Until they didn't.
"One full moon, the middle son of Esther, had taken his youngest brother to watch the men turn into beasts. He had always been fascinated by them, even moreso than his siblings. The youngest had begged and begged him to allow him to join him. Though he knew he could get in trouble, he saw no harm in taking him along."
Athena paused as the night played before her eyes like a movie. She hadn't been awake when it happened, but she could imagine how it had played out. It was the worst night of her life and she only wished her baby brother hadn't suffered such fate.
Tig, noticing her faraway gaze, grabbed her hand in hopes of bringing Athena back to the present and a bit of comfort. She squeezed his hand in thanks as she continued, trying her best to keep the heartbreak out of her voice.
"They went to the caves where we had always gone to witness something so magical. They should have been safe, but one of the beasts had found them and attacked them. The older brother had tried to protect the younger, but he was no match for the beast that tore into his brother right before his eyes.
"For hours, he stayed in the cave, the beasts turned back into men and returned to their homes as if an innocent child hadn't just been slaughtered. The boy was shaking, completely terrified by what had just happened and knew it was his fault. He feared what would become of him when he took his brothers body back to his mother and father. But he was willing to deal with the consequences.
"When he had returned home, he had shouted for Esther. She and the others rushed outside and cries of anguish filled the air at the sight of the boy's broken and mauled body.
""Niklaus, what have you done?!" Esther shouted. He wasn't given a chance to answer as Mikael tore him away from his son and threw him to the ground. He had taken his sword and put the blade to his neck, ready to take his life.
"Meanwhile, Esther shouts incantations to bring her youngest back to life. The other's beg their father to stop. The only thing that does is his wife begging him to.
"Later, Esther and Mikael beg another powerful witch to help them save the lives of their remaining children. The witch, Ayana, declines because it requires dark magic which has severe consequences. Mikael forces Esther to do the spell that would give their children enhanced senses and abilities. They would be able to better protect themselves.
"They were given wine laced with the blood of a doppelganger and then Mikael stabbed each of his children through the heart with his sword. Esther finished the spell and when they awoke, they were bloodthirsty.
"Niklaus and his siblings fed on many of the villagers and completed their transition. They became what is known as vampires. However, Niklaus had accidentally killed one and suddenly Esther's deepest secret had come to light. Infidelity. Niklaus was not Mikael's son.
"His eyes began to glow amber gold like that of the beasts. Mikael was furious and Esther tried to make it up to him by placing a curse on Niklaus to bound his werewolf side while their son, Elijah was forced to hold him down."
Athena shook her head. Already she just wanted this to be over. So she left out some bits and moved on to herself.
"I know this because I am Athena Mikaelson,. eldest living daughter of Mikael and Esther Mikaelson. I am an Original Hybrid, half vampire, half siphon. A siphon is a with that isn't born with their own magic. Instead, all it takes is a simple touch and I can still magic from another witch or an object filled with magic. But, given that vampires are made from magic, I don't need to siphon anymore. I, myself, am an endless source." She finished.
Athena glanced at the several faces in the room and seen some shock with a hint of disbelief from the ones that didn't know her. She gave them a few moments to process what she had just told them before giving them an offer.
"If you need some physical proof, I'd be more than happy to oblige. However, I do ask that you do not be afraid of me. I may not know some of you yet, but you are a part of this club, which means you are family. I protect my family, never hurt them."
Jax and Gemma joined Tig in surrounding Athena, each ready to protect her even though it wasn't necessary. Still, it gave them peace of mind. Athena glanced at Clay for permission, which he granted with a nod. She smiled and whispered a spell, holding back a laugh as Tig began floating beside her.
"What the-" Tig wondered before glaring at his best friend. "Athena!" Everyone laughed until he was back on the ground. He pinched her side, though it didn't faze her in the slightest.
"Okay." She said. "Now for the slightly terrifying part. Slowly, her eyes became bloodshot as black spider-veins appeared like a veil. She opened her mouth, showing her vampire teeth and ran her tongue along them. Her supernatural hearing picked up on several heartbeats speeding up and she quickly returned her face to normal.
She sighed in relief. "That went better than I expected. I thought for sure at least one of you would have tried to put a bullet in me. Fair warning, it would only tickle and also not kill me."
The three stood with her subtly moved closer to her just in case. None of them liked the idea of someone trying to harm her, even if she was the strongest and most dangerous person in the town.
Athena rolled her eyes at their protectiveness. She understood how they felt though, and so let them do whatever they wished. She suddenly clapped her hands together, disturbing the prolonged silence. "Well then. Clay? Would you mind if I steal the lovely Sargent beside me?"
Clay shook his head. "We don't have anything to do for a few hours. By all means, take him away."
She grinned and laced her arms through his before placing them under a cloaking spell. Groans filled the room as Clay suddenly regretted his decision. "Oh, hell. Not again."
On to causing mischief.
What do you think? Was the telling of her past okay or could it have been better?
I'm not able to watch The Vampire Diaries at the moment, so I'm going by memory. Which may be a bad idea since my memory sucks like a vampire.
Until next time,
