Marik was woken up by his phone ringing incessantly. Groaning, he kept his eyes closed as he reached behind him and started patting down the general area of his bedside table to find the culprit of the noise. On finding it, he accepted the call and brought it to his ear before barking out a stern "Whatever has happened, it's not my problem until 8 o'clock at least"

"That's how you answer the phone?"

The icy tone of voice brought Marik out of his stupor instantly.

Sitting up in his bed, Marik quickly apologised "Grandfather. I'm sorry I-"

"I expect you to have a far better attitude when answering a call in the future. What if a client was calling?"

Marik rolled his eyes and brought the lecture to a swift end by asking "How can I help you?"

"I require you to join me for dinner with a potential client in the coming weeks"

"Of course, sir"

"I expect Yami to join us as well"

Marik was so shocked at that command he forgot to form words before opening his mouth to speak. Instead he let out a string of noises which irritated the man on the other end of the phone as he let out a sharp tut before commanding "be articulate boy, you sound like a fool"

"Are you sure?"

"Would I have said it if I weren't sure?"

"Of course not, it's just that At- I mean Yami doesn't normally-

"The client we'll be meeting is an enthusiastic family man and will be hosting us at his home. He's aware of the two of you and invited you both, it would look strange for me to only bring one of you"

Of course Marik thought to himself always concerned with appearances.

"I'll let him know"

"Good. My secretary will contact you with the details." and with that, he cut off.

"Lovely talking to you" he muttered to himself, tossing his phone back onto his bedside table, before laying back down on the bed with a thump somehow resisting the urge to scream into a pillow.

"Everything alright?"

Marik turned his head slightly to catch sight of Mel looking at him from his own bed.

"Oh just peachy, just grandfather making his usual demands"

"Another dinner with clients to woo?"

"As if he'd ever want to see me for any other reason" Marik spat out, the bitterness causing Mel to sit up.

"Marik-

"He wants Atem to go as well" Marik cut him off.

"...Ah"

"He won't want to go"

"Nope"

Marik groaned "Real helpful Mel, thank you"

"Anytime"

Marik looked over to give him a dark look, but his mood passed on seeing an expression that was as close to concern as Mels features could probably handle. Softening, he stood and made his way over to the other boys bed. As he made his way over, the taller watched him with a hunter's gaze, eyes not even blinking as he continued watching as Marik climbed up onto the bed and straddled him.

"Make me feel better?" he asked with a tilt of his head.

Mel just smirked at the mock innocent seduction, well aware that his partner was no such thing. Lazily he reached up and placed a hand on the boys neck, bringing him down in order to whisper in his ear "anytime".

Yugi let out a small grunt as he lifted his suitcase off of his bed and onto the floor. Letting out a laugh, Yami wandered over and lifted it up himself to test its weight.

"You don't have to pack everything you own you know"

"I haven't, I'm just being prepared" Said Yugi, slapping at Yamis hands in order to get him to let go of the case, which he did before stepping away.

"Kid you're still going to be coming to school, even if you have forgotten something you can come get it"

"The point of being prepared is to not have to do that"

"Are you that desperate to avoid this place for awhile?"

Yugi looked up from where he was checking over the contents of the luggage in almost disbelief, but his expression softened on seeing the pout his partner was wearing. He stood and moved towards the other before wrapping his arms around him.

"You know that's not it, idiot. I haven't seen my Grandfather in like half a year and I don't want to waste any time that I can spend with him, you know?"

Yami sighed as he felt a pang of guilt shoot through him. Grasping the arms around him he pulled them away slightly before turning around and hugging him fully.

"That was dickish of me, I'm sorry"

"Don't be" Yugi giggled "I'm used to it"

Stung, Yami pulled away ruffling the smallers hair in revenge, only managing to make him laugh harder.

"Sorry...sorry" Yugi offered before smiling fondly, making Yami frown suspiciously.

"What?"

He shrugged, still smiling his fond smile, "I'm just..going to miss you"

Yami had to bite back the grin that those words brought forward, instead deciding to hide behind a casual "Like I said, I'll still see you at school...it's only a week…"

Noticing the deflection, Yugi kept smiling at him as he sat down on the edge of his bed "It's not the same though is it"

"...yeah, you're right. It's not" Sighed Yami cupping Yugis cheek. When Yugi just nuzzled into his hand, he leant down and kissed him softly. As he pulled back, Yugi instead followed him, standing up and pressing another kiss to his lips. WIth a smirk, Yami wrapped a hand in the smallers hair and forced his head into a tilt, turning the kiss into something a little bit more filthy. Without hesitating Yugi reached up and wrapped his arms around the boys neck and pulling him down and on top of him.

Attempting to control himself, Yami moved away from the others lips and instead pressed a few open mouthed kisses against the others neck, allowing himself a taste of the boys skin.

At the sound of the whimper Yugi let out, Yamis grip on his hips tightened unconsciously before gasping a rough "Babe-

When he was cut off by his phone letting out a shrill ring.

He groaned and let his head fall beside Yugis neck "fucking thing"

Yugi laughed lightly and gently pushed Yami as he himself moved so that they were both sat up

"I need to finish packing"

Leaning forward, Yami pressed one last kiss to Yugis lips before checking to see who had interrupted their moment.

"Marik...again"

Yugi shot him a look "of course it's Marik, who else would it be?"
"Bakura?"

"Would just come over and knock the door down"

"Ryou?"

"Would send Bakura"

"...shut up"

The sound of Yugis laughter wiped away any annoyance Yami felt at basically being told he had no friends.

"I'm going to go see what he wants"

"Smart"

"I know" Yami winked and blew a kiss "Later"

After the other boy had shut the door behind him, Yugi just shook his head fondly, muttering "idiot" before turning to his own phone which had just let out a sharp buzz.

...

...

"No"

"I'm afraid dear cousin of mine that you don't actually have a choice in the matter"

"You can't make me" Yami spat out, but Marik only gave him a look of pity in response. At the sight of if Yami deflated slightly, the initial anger at being told about his grandfather's request fading as he flopped down into one of the armchairs.

"Oh no please make yourself comfortable" Marik said dryly

"Shut up. When"

"Do you want me to answer you or shut up you can't have both"

"You're a child"

Laughing Marik picked up his phone and scrolled through "I haven't been sent the full itinerary I'm sure he's planning, but it's going to be most likely to be next Saturday"

Yami nodded vaguely, settling down into the chair fully. Marik turned to speak to Mel but was cut off by a quiet "Do I really have to go?"

"...Atem….I...you know I can't-

"Yeah I know" Yami signed "We'll need to find me something to wear"

"We can arrange that. It's a shame Cutie will miss seeing you all dressed up"

Yami stiffened "He doesn't need to see that. He doesn't need to know about any of this"

Marik watched his cousin carefully thinking about how best to speak his thoughts without causing the boy to storm out. Something he was lucky he hadn't already done.

"Atem, if your relationship is going to get any more- he trailed off as Yami stood up and went to leave.

"Just let me know when you need me"

"He deserves to know"

Yami span back around "no he deserves to be left out of it. He doesn't need to be involved"

"Oh come on" Marik said in disbelief "he's been involved since the first time you kissed him"

"I- choked out Yami, not quite knowing how to respond to that, knowing it was true. Marik let out a sigh "I'm sorry that wasn't fair"

"...you're right though" Yami offered his cousin a small smile in an attempt to lessen the guilt he was sure the other was feeling. "I'll admit I do not think straight around that brat" and in seeing a smirk begin to form on Mariks face added on a "if you tell anyone I said that-

"Oh cousin, it's pretty obvious to everyone who sees you together" laughed Marik, only laughing harder when Yami just shot him a look of disdain before walking out.

When Yami opened the door to their room and saw what was going on inside it, he had to take a moment to calculate exactly how long he'd been gone. After confirming that it had only been 10 minutes, he began to wonder what the hell had happened in that short amount of time.

Yugi was standing in the same spot he'd left him, but was haphazardly grabbing the contents of the suitcase that he'd been carefully packing just moments before. The boy didn't even look up from what he was doing as Yami walked fully into the room, he just kept grabbing clothes and throwing them back in the general direction of his drawers. Out of the corner of his eye, Yami noticed the present that Yugi was so excited to give to his grandfather crushed in its wrapping and shoved into the bin.

Yami tossed a few words around in his mind before deciding to broach the subject.

"Yugi, what are you doing?"

"What does it look like?"

That doesn't bode well "Okay well...why? You're leaving in a-

"No. I'm not"

Shit

"But your grandpa-

"Isn't coming"

shit shit shit "Oh"

Yugi threw his washing bag into the bathroom with a thud "Yeah. Oh"

Knowing how easily they could end up in a fight, he was trying to find the right word in order to avoid it. Though as he watched Yugi he could see that it was coming close to inevitable.

"Did he say why?"

Yugi slammed his suitcase shut "no. No he didn't say anything" the force with which he did so just made the lid bounce back open only serving to enrage the boy further

"Kid-

Yami was cut off by another slam of the lid "I got an email. Confirming the cancellation of his flight. He obviously just forgot. Either to tell that he wasn't coming or the fact that he was meant to visit in the first place. It's not like this has been the plan for over half a year" Yugi managed to get the case to stay shut and threw it to the side.

"Calm down-

"I knew he wouldn't come back. He couldn't leave fast enough after Grandma died. Never mind about Yugi, he can take care of himself"

Yami wanted to feel relief when Yugi looked at him for the first time since he had re-entered the room, but the devastation on the small boys face hurt to see

"And I can, you know" Yugi continued "Take care of myself. I had to, what choice did I have after being alone for so-

Yami stepped forward as the end of Yugis sentence was swallowed up by a gut wrenching sob, and gently grasped the tops of his arms "kid, please you're-

"Why does no one want me?"

Yami bristled his grip tightening "That is not true"

"You have no idea" scoffed Yugi bitterly "You don't even know-

"Then tell me"

Yugi shook his head, muttering words so quietly that even with how close together they were, Yami couldn't quite pick them out.

Yami moved his hands from the boys arms in order to cup his face "Yugi so many people care about you, I know you're upset but… he trailed off as Yugi tilted his head and met his eyes. He's so close to breaking Yami thought to himself as he watched the hurt swirl within the unshed tears. Not looking away, Yugi reached up and placed his hands over Yamis.

"You care about me?"

Oh, Kid Yami brushed away an escaping tear with his thumb "You know I do"

Yugi nodded absentmindedly, like he wasn't taking in the words, and stepped closer to the taller

"...and you want me. Right?"

Yamis stomach clenched at the question. Despite swallowing before he spoke, the pleading "Yugi…" that came from his throat was rough and scratchy. His breath caught, as the other boy stretched up, their lips brushing against each other as Yugi said just two words.

"Prove it"

Yami was out of his depth.

He hadn't a chance to respond before Yugi closed the minimal distance between them and pressed their lips together into a kiss. There was no sign of the bashful hesitance that was usually behind their kisses, and Yami found himself being pushed back from the force behind it.

He did his best in trying to keep them upright, but the smaller boy obviously had different ideas.

Before long, Yami found himself on his back with Yugi over him, not an unwelcome sight. In fact it was one that had entered his fantasies on a number of occasions. Now that it was actually happening, Yami did not know what to do with himself. He couldn't focus.

His hands were wrapped up in Yugis hair, soft within his clenched fist. And when he gave a little tug Yugi let out a groan that made his mouth water, the huff of a laugh he began to let out quickly changed to a grunt of pain as Yugi retaliated with a sharp bite at his shoulder before the boy began attacking his shirt.

Yami was struggling to even think of the shy Yugi who let him take the lead as the same boy who was straddling him and was pressing hot kisses against his bare thoughts were a toxic mix of finally and I need to stop this, his mind jumping from one to another in quick succession.

It settled when he felt trembling hands grasping at his jeans.

"stop"

Yugi looked up at him but didn't move away from where he was hovering over Yamis crotch. A sight that was so fucking sinful Yami knew he wouldn't be forgetting it in a hurry "You want me to stop?"

Yami squeezed his eyes shut Ra no "Yes, we can't- I can't-

Yugi sat back and looked down at him with empty eyes "...you…don't want me"

Instantly Yami sat up and grasped Yugis face once more.

"I do. Fuck you have no idea how badly I want you" he leant forward so that their foreheads touched "But not like this. You're upset and you don't want this Yugi please"

Yugi ripped himself away from their embrace and it took all Yami had to not just drag him back. Instead he just watched the boy leave.
