The Morning After
Jiang Tian Lan is busily preparing breakfast for her husband who is sleeping soundly. As the aroma of his wife's cooking reach his nostrils he awakens from his deep sleep and walks to the kitchen to hug and kiss her. Mo Li : I can have anything
Soo Lin looks to He Li Ping for a response
Han Shi Lei: Soo Lin… just make it nutritious… we don't want to up set Tian Lan….. I'm sure she has her hands full with my son.
Soo Lin surprises Mo Lin with a Bunny face omelet… high lighted with fruit accents which puts a big smile on her face.
He Li Ping: Mo Li….. sweetie… when is your birthday?
Mo Li: Next month… I'll be 9
He Li Ping :Then today we'll shop for the 8 birthdays your grandpa and I missed….. so think of those things you want most.
Mo Li: You're like Papa… he just buys everything….. then mom gets mad at him.
He Li Ping: We don't want that to happen… we'll buy one gift for each birthday… will that be alright?
Mo Li: Why are you being so nice to me?
He Li Ping: You're our only granddaughter…. We missed to many of your's Papa's birthdays when he was younger so we want to make that up to you… because your Papa loves you very much.
Mo Li : I love my Papa a whole bunch.

Du Min Qiu and Liu Zhang Peng discuss the previous day's event
Liu Zhang Peng: I've lost my daughter… How can I compete with that guy?
Du Min Qiu: Why do you need to compete with Dr Han?…. He and Tian Lan have found a love that has been missing in their lives…. Just like you found that love with me and I in you. I'm grateful that you're treating my son as yours….. you should be so thankful that Dr Han has placed the huge smile on Mo Li's face. Liu Zhang Peng: Am I too late … I know that I've made a lot of mistakes .
Du Min Qiu: It's never to late, but your petty jealousy has to stop…. Tian Lan belongs to Dr Han… just like you belong to me…. The fact that we share a child together means that both sets of parents need to get along….. Tian Lan and I have an understanding… I even asked her to be my bridesmaid at our wedding…. Liu Zhang Peng: How could you've done that?
Du Min Qiu: Even Tian Lan knew that would give you heart failure… what we do from here on out is not about us but the child we share. Mo Li has been placed in the cross hairs between your mothers family….. our family and the theirs. That little girl now has to split her time with three sets of grandparents, two sets of parents… can you imagine how difficult that must be for her? … So stop thinking about yourself and start thinking about her. What Dr Han did at that wedding was to place Mo Li front and center and Mo Li was thrilled that she was no longer in the background.
Liu Zhang Peng: Why did you marry me?… if you think so highly of him.
Du Min Qiu: You jerk….. I fell in love with the good qualities in you….. your at times to much of a coward to offend your family that you make mistakes… It doesn't mean that your bad…. As far as Dr Han goes….. from what Tian Lan has told me….. that guy grew up buy himself and made himself who he is through his own efforts….. so he is to be admired…. Does he act like a jerk….. yes….. you have no idea what he put Tian Lan through… but he also made her find herself … while learning to love again which the both of you contributed in destroying.
Liu Zhang Peng: Should I become friends with him?
Du Min Qiu: I don't know if you can… but what I do know is that you need to learn to get along…. When you do can you find out or ask him how he is able to give Tian Lan those incredible orgasms that she's been having with him…. Because you need a little help in that department.

Chen Hui Zhen: We both need to learn from our mistakes…. Both of our girls need to learn on how to deal with their own family issues. It scared me so much in how easily Tian Qing was ready to get a divorce over some silly misunderstanding. You need to stop putting those ideas of family respect into Zeng Ye's head…. Both our girls need to live their own lives the best way they see fit.
Jiang Jian Guo: All those people from the Sunshine Nursing Home…. Kept congratulating me on how great our son in law is… Did he really build that Sunshine Nursing Home with his own money?
Chen Hui Zhen: He maybe young but from what Tian Lan has told me… he takes care of those that take care of him…. Our daughter and granddaughter will certainly be taken care of.
Jiang Jian Guo: With him being a fertility doctor expert … do you think we'll be seeing another grand baby.
Chen Hui Zhen: If they do they do….but don't you go trying to put pressure on him to do so… Tian Lan struggled all those years because of Lan Zhi's constant pressure to have a grandson… she doesn't need that coming from either of us. Even his parents are just happy in having Mo Li as a grand daughter.
Jiang Jian Guo: What about Tian Qing… will she give us a grandchildren?
Chen Hui Zhen: what's this need for grandchildren all of sudden?… Tian Qing needs to grow up some more and become a good wife before she is ready to become a mother….. right now she's to self centered… but that will change.
Scene Shift
Tian Lan asks Xiang Dong to go back to the beach … she takes his hand as they walk barefoot on the sand letting the ocean waves splash against them.
Jiang Tian Lan: This place will always be our special place….. it's funny how I was so mad at you for making me work so hard to make all that food but once we got here I began seeing you in such a different light….. This place opened my heart to you….. I will always be grateful for that.
Han Xiang Dong: Should we build a house hear….. so that our children can play on this beach?….. It can be our vacation home….. for just our family.
Jiang Tian Lan: Our children… you've seen my medical records… you know I can't have anymore children.
Han Xiang Dong: Though you refused to listen to me… I know you were mis diagnosed…. Your charts showed me that there was nothing wrong with you physically….. the stress you put on yourself because of getting pregnant before marriage and that ludicrous notion that you needed to produce a male child made Mo Li's gestation period even more difficult not only for Mo Li but your mental psyche. The more stress you were under the more your body shut down during your ovulation cycle. You started hating sex ….. unlike now where you can't have enough.
Jiang Tian Lan: You're making it sound like I've turned into a slut.

After putting Mo Li to bed… Jiang Tian Lan thoughts are filled with the words Xiang Dong told her….. " You were mis diagnosed…there is nothing wrong with you" ….. Can I really get pregnant again? … Snuggled in her husbands arms …. She falls into a deep sleep and begins having a dream that she's never had before….. a little baby boy begins talking to her
Dream Baby: You finally did it….. I was getting a little worried that I would never get a chance to meet you and daddy.
Tian Lan: Are you really our baby….. this isn't just my wishful thinking
Dream Baby: I will be in your belly for the next nine months….. I'll try not to make too uncomfortable for you….The dream turns into obscurity
Unable to make any sense of her dream…. Tian Lin remains silent and doesn't share her experience with Xiang Dong… but the thought of why such a dream happened to her still remains with her. She begins doing research on the Internet and finds that conception dreams are prevalent especially in the Asian Culture…. Koreans have often told that if they dream of fruit and flowers the gender of the baby will be a girl…..if the dream is of animals such as tigers the baby is a boy. In Tian Lan's dream she was clearly talking to a baby boy making her wonder if this was in fact her conception dream.
To satisfy her anxiety of wondering if she could be pregnant…..she goes to the pharmacy and purchases a pregnancy test kit. To her amazement when the pregnancy stick shows two red bars her emotions over take her and she begins to cry knowing that her dream was real. She goes to Xiang Dong's office
Nurse Lin Lin: Mrs Han… Your wedding was so beautiful…. All the nurses are so envious of you….. are you here to see Dr Han?
Jiang Tian Lan: Thank you…. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony… Is Xiang Dong very busy… I need to talk to him.
Nurse Lin Lin : He's with a patient….. I'll let him know that you're here…She informs him and he finishes his consultation. Tian Lan enters his office
Han Xiang Dong: What's the matter….. you look very anxious
Jiang Tian Lan: I am…. Xiang Dong…. I had a dream of a baby….. our baby….. I didn't say anything but I haven't been able to get that out of my mind….She hands him the pregnancy stick… Am I really pregnant…. Are we going to have a baby?
Han Xiang Dong with a big smile on his face: Do You want to be pregnant?
Jiang Tian Lan: Xiang Dong….. don't start teasing me….. Can you make sure…. I need to know for sure.
Han Xiang Lan: Let me take a blood sample and we'll be 100% sure.
Jiang Tian Lan: Xiang Dong… Sweetheart…. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner…. I just filled myself with self doubts…. I mean am I too old to have another baby… Am I messing up this perfect relationship that we now have… I never thought that I could get pregnant again so I threw out all caution to the wind… please tell me what's going through your mind….. do you even want another child…. You've made Mo Li yours and I couldn't be any happier….. so tell me.
Han Xiang DongCalls Nurse Lin Lin to come and take the blood sample to the lab and have them due an immediate pregnancy work up.
Nurse Lin Lin : Are you and Mrs Han having another baby?
Han Xiang Dong: That's what we want to know…. Lin Lin no spreading rumors until we're certain
Nurse Lin Lin: Yes sir
Han Xiang Dong: Tian Lan….. you haven't had a vaginal exam in a number of years… Even though I'm positive that you were misdiagnosed I want to make sure your cervix and uterus are the way they are suppose to be….. I don't want you to experience what you went through with Mo Li…. Ok sweetheart.
Jiang Tian Lan: As much as I love what you do to me orally… I've always hated having that speculum spread me wide open.
Han Xiang Dong: I promise to be a gentle as I can, but I need to do it
Jiang Tian Lan removes her cloths …puts on the exam robe and lays on the exam table with her legs on the stirrups.
Han Xiang Dong begins the exam by pressing along her lower belly to feel for any abnormalities or sensitive areas. Though he has loved looking and touching her vagina with his tongue and lips , he now has to evaluate all her internal tissues of her vulva. He places his speculum so that her vaginal lips are spread enough to allow him to get a clear view of her cervix and uterus. . He takes some cotton swabs samples to also send to testing. Finally he inserts his gloved fingers inside her vagina while also feeling her tummy for any sensitivity issues.
Han Xiang Dong: There was nothing out of the ordinary… once we get the results from the blood test we can determine how far along you are and then put you on a prenatal care schedule.
Jiang Tian Lan: So you think we are pregnant.
Han Xiang Dong: let's wait for the results.
Nurse Lin Lin brings back the lab results and it confirms that a baby has been conceived.
Jiang Tian Lan gives her husband a passionate kiss …. Her conception dream did come true now her thoughts turn to Mo Li…. Han Xiang Dong tells Nurse Lin Lin to cancel the rest of his afternoon appointments … he and his wife need some alone time.
Jian Tian Lan: Xiang Dong… be honest with me are you really pleased about us having a baby.
Han Xiang Dong: If I wasn't …..I wouldn't have tried so hard to get you pregnant… so the answer is yes….. this baby will have everything I didn't growing up….. A mother and a father that dearly love him…. You did say it's a boy didn't you?
Jian Tian Lan: He was clearly a boy in my dream… he so much looks like you… I just hope he doesn't act like you….. but we may have another problem….. How do you think Mo Li will react to this news? She has just started getting comfortable as being the only one….. sharing isn't one of her strong suits.
Han Xiang Dong: She didn't like sharing her dad with a stranger… which was primarily Zhang Peng's fault… How did you ever live with such a coward?….. In my practice … sibling rivalry has to be met head-on…. assumptions can't be made. We will show her that she is still number one and that we will need her help ….. a big sister is a very important role.
Jiang Tian Lan: I'm still worried that we may face a repeat of how Xiao Yu came into her life.
Han Xiang Dong: I'm not Zhang Peng… I've always put Mo Li's interest first….. even before yours if you remember.
Jiang Tian Lan: you were more responsible than all of us… how do you intend that we tell her ?
Han Xiang Dong: Trust me… Let's pick up Mo Li from School … bring her to her favorite chicken place ….. get her some ice cream and then she will be ready for what comes next.
Later on
Mo Li: What is it …. You and mama are trying to tell me something That you think I don't want to hear.
Han Xiang Dong hands Mo Li his stethoscope: Mo Li put these on and then I want you to listen to Mommy's belly…. Your kneed to listen very closely …. There is someone that wants to say hi to you
Mo Li with a strange look on her face: I can't hear anything.
Han Xiang Dong: Can't you hear that little voice saying… Hi big sis ….. I can't wait to meet you… I'm trapped inside Mom's belly… but once I get big enough , I'll come out and we can start playing.
Mo Li some what confused : Mom…..what are two trying to tell me?
Jiang Tian Lan: Our family of three is going to get bigger…. You're going to have a little brother ….. are you Ok with that?
Mo Li: Papa….. Will I still be your daughter….. now that you will have your own son?
Han Xiang Dong: You will always be my daughter…. You chose me to be your Papa… I chose you to be my daughter…. The love I have for you is no different than the love I have for your your mom and now your little brother when he comes to us. I don't want you to ever doubts that. We will have another playmate to play with.
Jiang Tian Lan with a smirk on her face: Now it will be three against one…..the smirk soon turns to a smile as she sees her husband and daughter playing happily with each other.
As the news spreads throughout the Jiang and Han families….. It also doesn't escape the ears of Zhou Lan Zhi…. Who immediately calls her son.
Zhou Lan Zhi: Zhang Peng… did you know Tian Lan is pregnant and the baby is going to be a boy…. How can that be?
Liu Zhang Peng: Yes mother… we know…Tian Lan told Min Qiu
Zhou Lan Zhi: Why didn't you tell me?
Liu Zhang Peng: It has nothing to do with us or you… mother just be happy for them and don't try to make an issue out of it.
Zhaou Lan Zhi: The reason you don't want any more children is that maybe the problem before was never Tian Lan but rather you… why don't you make an appointment with Dr Han since he's so good at fixing those kind of problems.
Liu Zhang Peng: This is why we didn't tell you… Min Qiu and I have made a choice…. We have a son …. I don't want Min Qiu to go through the same kind of pressure you placed on Tian Lan…. Mother be thankful with what you have.
A five year Time Jump
Jiang Tian Lan is preparing lunch and staring out of their beach house window watching Xiang Dong playing and chasing the twin boys which were as much of a surprise when they did they first sonogram while Mo Li is busy talking on her cell phone with her girlfriends about the latest boys news.
Jiang Tian Lan's content smile on her face reflects her thankfulness for this happiness that she now has….. Her mind does a flashback to the day that Xiang Dong entered her world and slowly began changing every aspect of it. His childish and obnoxious behavior turned into a love she thought she would never have. He healed the wounds and scars for both her and Mo li from the failed marriage to Liu Zhang Peng while building bridges in dealing with the opinions and problems that their extended families brought with them. Learning from mistakes and overcoming the marriage obstacles has been paramount for both of them…. They still argue due to differences of opinion but when they love they love intensely being the envy of those that know them.
