Chapter 2

"Give it up, ninja! You can't beat me!" the Mechanic yelled. He yanked the steering wheel to the left, and Nya almost flew off the van if there hadn't been a handle on the edge. She pulled herself onto the van. An arm lunged at her, and she rolled to the side.

"Sending robotic arms instead of facing us yourself makes me think we can defeat you!" Nya replied. She brought her spear down on the arm, cutting off the hand mechanism. Suddenly, Lloyd's voice came through her radio.

"Guys? You almost done? We could really use your help, right now."

"What? What happened? Where are you?" Nya asked, ducking as the other swiped at her.

"There's...something attacking us," he replied. He was breathing hard, and she could hear the ninja's helicopter.

"Yea, I think I know what," Kai said.

"Don't we all," Jay commented. "Could we get some help, here?" he asked.

"That still doesn't answer my question, Lloyd," Nya said, irritated. "Can you tell me what's attacking?"

"They're like shadows," Cole replied, "with a mind of their own-except no, real, actual, physical people are in here!"

"What?!" Lloyd yelled. "That's not what's attacking us and PIXAL!" he said. "These are actual people! They're wearing all white with helmets," he added, "and the've got laser guns!"

"All right. As soon as we're done here, we'll come help," Nya said. She switched off her radio. Suddenly, Zane came tumbling out the back. He sent a burst of ice at the truck and walled the back.

"Nya, look out!" Zane shouted. The Mechanic had swerved off the road and was about to ram himself into a building. Zane froze the back tires, stopping the van. Just as he did, Nya flipped off. "Ninja, fall back. We need to help Lloyd and PIXAL," Zane ordered.

"Roger that!" Kai replied. Seconds later, one of the van's doors opened, and Kai jumped out. Cole and Jay followed him.

The ninja were in the Monastery's library. Master Wu was looking through some of the books. "I've spent some time looking into yesterday's events. I have not found anything matching either descriptions," he said. He turned to Lloyd. "What did these people say, exactly?" he asked him.

"The only useful thing I heard was "All hail Lord Vadar!'" Lloyd recalled. Master Wu pulled out another book and searched it.

"I do not have anything related to that person, either," he said.

"So both of these are new enemies?" Nya asked. "Lucky us," she said.

"Based on what has happened, I predict that there is a low chance of us winning against them," Zane said. "We will have to find someone that knows what these forces are, and how to defeat them."

"So, what? Just spend all day in Ninjago City asking 'Do you know who these people are?' and give a description of them until someone says 'yes'?" Jay asked scarcastically.

"If no one else has a better plan, then yes," Lloyd replied.

"That seams like a lot of work," Cole complained. He had a sandwich in his hands and took a bite.

"If we split up, it will be less work," Zane scolded him.

"All right, all right, I'll do it," Cole grumbled. He shoved the rest of the sandwich in his mouth and swallowed.

Just then, they heard someone knock on the Monastery gates. "I wonder who that is," Lloyd thought.

"Oh, oh! Maybe it's people who know how to defeat these guys," Jay said, excitedly, but also scarcastically.

"I find that highly unlikely," Zane replied, frowning.

"Wow, Zane. You are very good when it comes to sarcasm," Kai said.

"Come, ninja; though Zane might be correct, there is a slim chance not," Master Wu said. The ninja followed their master to the gates. He opened them.

"I am Lord Vadar, and I come to you seeking the one in gray," the person announced. He wore a black cape and sleek, black, protective armor and a helmet.

"Yea, dude. I have no clue who you are, and absolutely not," Kai immediately said.

"Poor choice. All of you will soon see the true power of the force!" Vader said, clearly unpleased with the response. Just as he was about to say something, Master Wu cut him off.

"Forgive me, but what, exactly do you want with us?"

"Your foolish students-I suppose- told of me the location of this place. And as for what I want, I will get."

"What?!" Master Wu exclaimed. He turned to Kai.

"Don't blame me! Not everything is my fault!" he said defensively.

"I do not want all of you," Vadar said. He pointed to Nya. "Only her."

"You're saying 'want' as if we're lifeless, inanimate objects. We're not." Nya said. "And, by the looks of it, I'd guess you're a cyborg," she retorted. Apparently this had offended Vader. He holds out a hand and all of a sudden Nya's eyes go wide and she clutches her throat. "I-can't...what's-happening?" She felt her throat tighten. "Can't-breathe-" She willed herself not to black out, but spots were beinning to form at the edge of her vision.

"Hey, cut it out!" Kai yelled furiously at Vadar. Vadar thrust his hand forward, and Nya flew backward, hitting the steps. Kai, Jay, and Master Wu ran over, and Lloyd, Zane, and Cole took battle stances. Nya rolled over on her side, coughing and gasping for breath.

"Nya, are you okay?" Jay asked. He helped her get up.

She coughed. "I'll-I'll be fine." She wheezed. "Remind me not to do that again," she added.

Relieved, Jay said, "Will do."

"Now that you have seen only a part of what the force can do, I hope you will join me," Vadar said.

He turned and started the tiresome walk down the mountain.
