Chapter 42!
Man I just love this pair. More Itsuka x Izumi, remixed as usual, and I wanted to do some exploring of their characters in this premise as well as try a couple small but different techniques with how I write Izumi.
Enjoy, more notes at the end!
Melancholic
*Itsuka POV*
This is what she got for staying up all night.
Itsuka was already a 2nd year and while at school her classmates may have looked up to her as some sort of exemplary role model in truth that was just how she felt was appropriate to conduct herself in public. When she was at home then she preferred to be by herself, which wasn't hard since her parents both worked overseas, and she hardly went out at all except for food. If Itsuka needed things then she bought them online, if the others asked her to go somewhere she'd politely decline unless she thought she had to, and when she needed food then she went to the closest convenience store or market and would be in, out, and back home in 10 minutes flat.
She was diligent at school but at home then it was coffee, music, being glued to her computer most of the day, lazing about, and the occasional in house exercise. Itsuka almost felt like she was two different people in public and at home and she didn't really have an issue with that. However, things she did at home did have an effect on how she'd fare in public and right now she was definitely running late because she only fell asleep an hour before she normally left for school. Itsuka really shouldn't have had coffee so late, or gotten engrossed in playing a game hoping that it would make her sleepy, and then gotten lost researching and browsing for stuff she wanted to buy if it meant she was going to be late and only be running on an hour of sleep.
"So stupid," she angrily grumbled to herself, bumping into things at her house as she hurried which only served to irritate her more, and the sun burned her vision as she managed to slam her way out of the door.
Considering how poor of a start she was having to her day, Itsuka wondered if she should just take her time so she could keep her head at school, but if anything she just wanted to fake being ill and fall right back into bed.
"I swear I'm just going to buy a motorcycle this weekend," she hissed to herself.
She already had her motorcycle license and had been eyeing a few different ones for a while. Her parents didn't mind and she had the money set aside so it was just a matter of her settling on what she wanted and doing it. She had found the balance she wanted between quality and price and she could already imagine herself with it. She would probably look as good as the student just across the street on her own motorcycle. Yeah, that would...
Itsuka's thoughts flew off as she paused in place and took a double take at the girl she was certain she'd never seen before.
The orange haired girl immediately registered that the other student had a U.A uniform like herself but the minor changes in the outfit told her that she was a 3rd year. She had long green hair drawn back into a low ponytail but her semi-wavy bangs were swept and slightly puffed to one side. The ear on the side towards Itsuka had a number of piercings and the 3rd year's lazily narrowed eyes stared off absently. Her tie, though very neat, was a bit loose so she could pop the top button on her collar and her shirt sleeves were only partially rolled and somewhat baggy on her lithe arms. In fact, her whole frame was on the slender side and she was actually wearing the uniform pants instead of skirt which gave her a more tomboyish look.
Itsuka was staring, more so out of curiosity than just finding her unknown senpai cool, because she knew that this girl either just moved here or was not from here. She was certain that she'd remember her if she had seen the other girl like this. However, she'd apparently stared for too long because the 3rd year slowly turned her direction. It had caught Itsuka off guard and she tried to greet her, or say anything really, but nothing came out as the greenette gazed at her with unbothered eyes. It was certainly awkward now and Itsuka was a second from just calling it a day but the other girl pointed her thumb behind her.
"Need a ride?" the 3rd year said offhandedly, almost sounding unsure of her own offer, and instead of her usual polite refusal Itsuka just nodded dumbly.
"Yeah..." she replied and before she could really second guess herself she had already hopped on and wrapped her arms around the other girl's stomach. "Are we gonna be okay?" Itsuka managed to say, realizing that her senpai had given her the one helmet, and the greenette shrugged into her.
"Hopefully we don't get busted," she answered back coolly before fishing a black face mask out and putting it on and Itsuka gripped her a bit tighter.
"Shit," she swore under her breath but if her senpai heard her then she chose not to respond as they took off.
Itsuka had a feeling it was gonna be one of those days.
-break-
She had managed to make it through the school day with little issue but she was spent.
Itsuka just wanted to get home immediately but her classmates had held her up for a while after classes had ended and she still needed to walk to the station, take what was definitely going to be a packed train, and then make it home from there. She would have been more confident in the trip if her phone wasn't about to die since she could have tuned everything out but now she was just gonna have to deal with it.
And she really didn't want to.
Itsuka dragged her feet but something flashed at the corner of her vision and she decided to say screw it. Approaching the unaware student, the 2nd year slightly hung her gaze while making the unfair request.
"Can you drive me home, Senpai?"
Notes and Stuff
Off the bat it's 2nd year, Hero Course, Itsuka (17) and 3rd year, Business Course, Izumi (18).
I wanted to play around with Itsuka's character, somewhat like how I vary my Izumis, but in a smaller range. I try to consider a lot of interpretations of, or additions to, her character that still maintain her canon parts to a general degree.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
