Chapter 43!

This felt like a small but necessary building block for this.

Enjoy, more notes at the end!

One Day

*Itsuka POV*

Maybe she was getting too comfortable too quick.

"Shizuoka?" Itsuka repeated back while still holding the helmet out to return it. "I'm real sorry for asking you to bring me," she apologized with a swift dip of her head.

Itsuka did feel bad.

She had been wrapped up in her own bad day and made a selfish request from someone she barely knew and she had put them out of their way for it. Sure her senpai, Midoriya Izumi, had agreed to it but Itsuka still felt like she should do something in return as thanks. They had just recently arrived at Itsuka's house and Midoriya leaned onto her bike.

"It's cool, I didn't feel like going home to be honest," the greenette reassured but it didn't make Itsuka feel like she took advantage of her less.

"At least let me treat you to something," she offered but the older student respectfully declined.

"You don't have to," she tried although her answer made Itsuka shake her head.

"I'd feel bad and like I'm in your debt," she somewhat blurted out, a bit too honest for how she usually conducted herself, and it made the greenette pause.

There was a beat of silence but Midoriya appeared to give in to her forwardness.

"If it makes you happy then," she relented and the orange haired girl let a sigh of relief leave her body.

Not having any sort of plan ready, Itsuka had ushered her upperclassman into her house and quickly put on a pot of coffee and as well as some sweets. With how the green haired girl acted she expected it to just be a quick stint of small talk but she found herself refilling both their cups while getting to know the 3rd year. Midoriya seemed reserved but any moments of silence between them was comfortable and almost struck Itsuka as familiar in someway. She was certain that they had never met before but this strange feeling of nostalgia softly reared its head in the background.

"What were you doing in Chiba anyway?" Itsuka had to ask, reminded again how out of the way Midoriya had gone, and the older girl ran a finger along the side of her coffee mug.

"I like to go out for rides in the morning," she breathed, taking a sip before continuing on, "helps clear my head before school."

It was a long way to go for just a ride in her opinion but Itsuka didn't say it since she'd felt like she'd come off as too nosy. Then again, she figured that after this morning she had lost some pretense for acting how she did at school with Midoriya. They traded more small talk before Itsuka excused herself for a second to go to the bathroom and grab a sweatshirt but when she came back she noticed that Midoriya had reacted to a noise outside and the orange haired girl figured that the greenette thought her parents had arrived.

"My parents work overseas so I have the place to myself most of the time," Itsuka explained, drawing her senpai's focus back, and the older girl hummed in understanding.

Itsuka re-seated herself with another cup, though Midoriya declined a refill, and the orange haired girl noted that the fingers on the greenette's left hand were just barely trembling. She mentally slapped herself, realizing too late that others might find the temperature in her house uncomfortable since she kept it on the lower side. Her constant use of her computer, refusal to use the heating, and penchant for just throwing on more clothes made it slip her mind completely.

"Sorry," she apologized, ready to find something for Midoriya to cover her hands with. "It's kinda cold in here isn't it," she addressed but the 3rd year shook her head with a neutral expression.

"Nah," the greenette brushed off simply while rubbing the effected appendages against each other. "It happens when I use my quirk too much," she revealed which got Itsuka curious.

"Are you in the hero course too?" she questioned but Midoriya shook her head softly.

"Business," she answered with closed eyes yet her lips tugged subtly, "but I still like to use my quirk like everyone else."

"Huh, makes sense," Itsuka mumbled but she was surprised when she caught sight of the time. "It's getting late," she realized, not sure how the time had gotten so far away. "Are you gonna be okay?" she posed and a subdued chuckle left her upperclassman.

"My parents might be wondering but I'm usually out anyway," she assured. "Thank you for the coffee and snacks," Midoriya bowed, neatly getting up, and Itsuka got up as well to see her off.

"No problem," she replied with a bit of a grin. "Maybe we'll do it again or something," she added on, the words leaving her mouth without thought, and she was briefly surprised by her own offer but the greenette only gave another polite gesture.

Itsuka followed the older girl out and she watched until Midoriya had fully disappeared out of her view on her motorcycle. It had been a pretty pleasant chat but it suddenly occurred to Itsuka that she'd had someone else in her home. She almost always secretly hated when other people were over because she couldn't feel comfortable in her own home when they were but with Midoriya she had been able to accept it nigh immediately. She didn't feel the need to fully put on her 'public' self for the other girl who had, though accidentally, gotten to see a bit of who Itsuka was so her normal self slipped through during their conversation.

"I've really done it now," she mumbled.

Before she went back in though, she quickly ran to the convenience store and bought more snacks.

Notes and Stuff

I kind of like the idea of Itsuka, though still having her canon qualities, being different when she's either by herself or removed enough from a public feeling. I play around with it often when coming up with ideas for her.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and look forward to more updates from me!
