Alright! It's my first foray into writing fanfics for a fandom other than Helluva Boss. Well, kinda anyway. It's mostly going to be Octavia in the Boiling Isles, with a few rare apperances from Stolas. Don't expect I.M.P. to show up anywhere here.

This who fic idea spawned from a Twitter post I made a while back, where I suggested the possibility of Octavia & Luz becoming friends if they had meet. To my overwhelming shock, it became my most popular tweet of all time, and soon I was starting to get ideas on actually turning it into a fanfic. Unfortunately it's currently on hiatus as I focus on my other fics, but I'm hopeful I can return to it and get it finished at some point.

I admit this one's not fully original, as it's loosely based on a HB/TOH crossover Idea from the YouTuber Mr. Multiverse who did a video (which was actually requested by me, who gave him the general premise of Via ending up in the Boiling Isles over on ). I did ask for his permission to use the idea for it, and he gave me the go ahead. And I will say it will NOT be a one-for-one of his pitch.

With that all said, hope you all enjoy:

"You toad-sucking fucktard! How DARE you try to STEAL my daughter from me, the ONE time I get to have to myself!"

"It's hardy stealing when she requested to stay here this weekend now is it?! Perhaps if your brother's home wasn't as cold as Antarctica's frozen anus, she'd reconsider."

"Don't you LIE to me, you star-hugging ASSHOLE! I know you're turning her against me! Who the FUCK do you think you are? You had me for 18 FUCKING years and you go for the first imp, that barges into your bedroom?!"

"Well, it's not my fault that he was far better a lay than you ever were during our entire bloody marriage!"

"How DARE you, yah plebian breeding WHORE! Do you even care about the embarrassment you've brought upon this family? UPON ME?! I can't even show my face in public anymore after your sex-deprived mind completely humiliated me in front of my friends!"

"Oh, do you mean the brown-nosers, too busy sniffing at your unwiped asshole, to string along two creative thoughts together? Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't leave you sooner, considering your lack of even one somewhat decent quality."

"Oh fuck off, you cunt. At least, I HAVE friends! The only company your pathetic, disgraceful hide can keep are the disgusting plants that eat our food and the wretched, putrid imp you have to blackmail, just to get him to stand you!"

The screaming match between Prince Stolas and his soon-to-be Ex-wife Stella, went on for what felt like fucking hours. Even after the swan had effectively moved out of the castle, spending most of her days with her brother Andrealphus, the shouting between the two had become quite a regular occurrence for the citizens of the Pride Ring. The shouts, the screams, the cold stabs, and the merciless digs at one another had become the subject of gossip, controversy, and scandal, reaching new heights now that they had finally entered the divorce phase.

In some ways, these fights were an improvement. At least now the amount of broken furniture, abused staff, and messes needing to clean up had all but ceased. But that didn't make listening to their constant screaming any easier. Especially for one young owl girl at the age of 17, soon to be 18, who had been standing by the door for a good long while now, just wanting to spend time with her father; only to endure another ugly fight. A fight she had witnessed FAR too many times recently for her to bare.

"You'll be lucky if you ever so much as get to see Octavia after this is over. She deserves a far better parent, than some pitiful excuse for a Goetia! When my brother and I are through with you, your disgusting fucking ass will be lucky if you'll have one feather left on your whore body!"

"I'd like to see you try, you illiterate hate-filled witch! Tell that arrogant shit brother of yours, he can suck off to his father for all I care!"

Stolas slammed the phone down, ending the call, taking long, tired breaths as he was finally rid of the banshee screaming in his ear, and looming over him, even on the other line. He reached for the spare bottle of absinthe he kept in the cupboard, fuck knows he could use a good drink right about now; not even realizing someone was watching, until when he was right in the middle of taking a sip. Only then did he finally notice Octavia, standing there by the door. And just how tired, bitter, and angry she looked at him now.

The prince's eyes widened in horror, absolutely ashamed of himself for not noticing her sooner. "Oh my Via, I'm so sorry you had to hear that. I swear, I didn't-"

"Shut. Up."

Octavia's shaky, cold whisper cut him off, her voice was hoarse as if she had screamed at him as well. The prince stared in shock, as his daughter glared venomously at him, even as her tired, longing, broken tears started to fall. "I…don't want to hear it…not again…I'm done."

Octavia ran out before her father could stop her, ignoring his regretful pleas and apologies as he struggled to catch up to her.

When her father had told Via the painful news that he and her mother were divorcing, she had been devastated. She couldn't bare the thought that the family she had known and loved for over 17 were now splitting apart, having apparently hated each other for years now. It made her feel like everything she knew her whole life was just one fat, stupid fucking lie, just to screw with her or something.

The only positive thing she had expected out of this was that at the very least, things would get better. The constant screaming fights would cease, the furniture would stop getting ruined and she could finally be done with all of this crap, be a regular teen once more or at least try to mend her shaky relationship with her dad.

But nope! Octavia couldn't even get that! Now the furniture was being moved rather than smashed, her royal duties were increasing as she was growing closer to 18, and the fights had turned into long, tiresome, and furious phone calls between her parents. Honestly, her father was spending more time on the phone than with her, often forgetting his promises and that she was even there on occasion; even after their heart-to-heart in the Living World, she was a fool to think things would change. Via was starting to feel more alone than ever, not helped by the fact that her mother wasn't even at home anymore.

So why was she still living here?

At that moment Octavia had made her decision.

As soon as Via entered her room, she pulled out her empty backpack and began stuffing it with as many of her things as she could. Clothes, makeup, a few books, her wallet, brushes, and anything else she deemed essential. Sadly, it had meant leaving behind her many taxidermy displays, but she'd get new ones.

Just as long as she was away from here.

Enough was enough. All Octavia wanted was one day when she and her dad could have a good, happy day together. Going to Stylish Occult, go stargazing together, and maybe check out the Bleeding Star, said to be viewable throughout the realms. No mom, no fighting, no messy divorce, and no more being FUCKING ignored all the time!

But apparently, that was too much to ask for. So she was done. Octavia didn't want to spend another miserable second in this crumbling apart shithole! She finished packing her things, her backpack nearly bursting at the seams, and made her plans to run away.

But where to? Certainly not to the damn imp who had started this whole mess! She still hated the fucker, despite getting along with his daughter, and it'd be the first place her father would look. There was no way she'd go to her uncle's. Princess Charlie's Hotel was another definite no. None of the other Rings of Hell suited her too much and the living world would've been too obvious.

No, she wanted to go somewhere FAR away. Somewhere not even her dad with all his power and the Grimoire would ever be able to find her.

And fortunately, she had a pretty solid idea of how to do just that.

Creeping through the hallways of her castle, making sure not to get caught by either her father or any servant that could potentially be around, Via made her way to her father's private study, where she knew he kept all of his most powerful and ancient books of magic. She had rarely been allowed inside his secret room; barring a few times when she was young and wanted to learn more about his powers, but the young princess knew that if there was any chance of her finding a key away from Hell, it would have to be in there.

Octavia went for the knob to the study, and to her relief, and surprise, it was unlocked. She carefully maneuvered over to one of his many bookshelves, filled to the brim with different spell books and old tomes; sources of magical power that Stolas once practiced with long before he got his Grimoire.

With many spellbooks here, there had to be at least one of them that could act as the gateway she needed. Octavia scanned through the numerous tomes, having trouble recognizing most of them, as many were written in old Hellish. "Let's see here. Resurrection. Transmutation. Elemental Control. Cosmology. Realm Travel-Yes! Perfect!'"

Octavia pulled out the large tome; an ancient thing written in a mix of New and Old Hellish writing, that was thicker than a dictionary. Via nearly dropped it, from how heavy to felt at first. It seemed she had critically underestimated the number of realms besides Hell, Heaven, Limbo, and the Living World.

But no matter; that just meant she had more options. Via wasted no time looking over the pages, trying to pick a good one. Which was no easy feat. The limited translation, the many different realms, and just how bizarre so many of them seemed, it was all overwhelming to an amateur spellcaster like Octavia.

After scanning and reading for a good 15 minutes, looking through the many odd and kooky worlds, including one that seemed to be inhabited entirely by frogs of all things (that had to be a mistranslation), Octavia finally found one that caught her eye. A plane known as 'The Demon Realm.'

From what she could gather, it was a place far removed from Hell, while still being full of magic, and demons and having a somewhat modernized society. The latter part was especially important to her. Sure she was running away, but Via refused to live in a society that didn't have wifi yet. Though on the other hand, there seemed to be a few warnings on the side. Something about an emperor?

Pat-Pat-Pat-Pat

The sound of someone's footsteps growing closer pulled the owlet back into reality. Shit, her father was coming! No time for second guessings, she had to go before he caught her in the act.

Working quickly, Octavia summoned up every ounce of magic inside of her, as she spoke out the words and demanded to be brought to this mysterious 'Demon Realm.'

Her world turned into a blinding light show of yellows, purples, blacks, and browns, as Octavia felt the air twist and crackle, tearing open a cut between realms, powered by her will and longing for escape, that started dragging her out of Hell and into somewhere far beyond its normal reaches. The last thing of her home she saw, was the doorknob of her father's study beginning to stir before everything turned white.

Her entrance was not a smooth one; the portal all but spat out Octavia onto the rough ground, the book clattering only a few feet away from her. The teen groaned as she picked herself up, thankful at least, it wasn't as bad as her first trip to another plane. Thankfully this time she hadn't killed anyone.

Besides, what mattered was that she had done it! She had successfully performed the spell and was transported into a completely new realm. The sky wasn't red, the air was different, the ground felt less twisted and the overall atmosphere and lay of the land was nothing like either Hell OR the living world. This was somewhere her dad, her mom, or any one of her royal family could never hope to find her! Octavia could feel it. "Yes…I'm free!"

The demon princess was smiling ear to ear, she had a whole new world to explore. Away from the chaos of her family or the responsibilities of her role. Here she could be free to do whatever she wanted! In her excitement, Octavia raced onward into this new world, wanting to get a better look at what this realm was like. And was quite taken aback by the scenery.

At first, it seemed to be a regular, medieval-like village, with houses, and a market, surrounded by a thick red treed forest and gothic architecture. Nothing too bad; heck Octavia was loving the goth look of the place. And then she started to notice the more…eccentric traits. How many of the buildings were covered in horns, teeth, and blinking eyeballs. And the skulls that seemed to be around every corner. And the giant bits of bone sticking out from the Earth like the place had been built on a giant carcass. Even the people here unnerved her. Sure, Hell had plenty of weird, gross-looking citizens, especially the sinners, who often had appearances bizarre even by demon standards. But this place had people who were just a bunch of eyeballs glued together. Or a giant glob, with gummed teeth at the center. At least in her part of Pride, it was mostly imps or hellhounds who looked decently like each other, with the occasional sinner. Here, it felt like half of the crowd was its own odd species.

It was all starting to be a bit too much for the newcomer, who had rarely gone outside of her house on her own. She hadn't expected it to be so…different.

The runaway took a deep breath to calm down. "Okay, okay, so it's a little weirder than expected, but I can get used to this right?" Octavia tried to assure herself, stepping amongst the locals and doing her best to get a barring on her everything. It was a bit weird, but surely she could get used to it right? "First things first, let's just try to find a place to stay. Maybe a motel or one of those shelters, where the homeless live." She sighed, still feeling completely out of her element even after just arriving.

But that proved to be easier said than done. Being a complete stranger to the realm, who couldn't tell any of the odd buildings apart, Via had no idea what to even look out for. After accidentally walking into another monstrous bathhouse, the stressed-out princess was practically trying to bury herself in her beanie, to cover herself from the embarrassment.

"Um excuse me, sir-" She tried calling out to one of the people, a goat-man who resembled a Baphomet without the candle, only for him to rush out of the way before she could finish. "I beg your pardon but-Could you please show me where-I could use some help finding-Where is the-" She was continuously ignored, the numerous odd creatures going about their day as if she wasn't there, or even rudely shoving her aside before walking off. The already lost owlet was starting to give up when a seemingly friendly face flew up to her. A small, sweet little fairy with an innocent smile.

"Oh hello there," Via greeted with a small smile back. "I'm a little lost, can you tell me where I can find a motel?"

"I WANT TO EAT YOUR SKIN!"

Via screamed, slapping away the fairy, whose mouth had turned into a row of sharp, disjointed, and animal-like teeth. Okay, already it seemed like coming here was a mistake. Damn it, she should've gone to the frog world, this place was starting to feel like a chaotic nightmare!

Her thoughts were halted by the sound of her stomach growling. She hadn't eaten since breakfast and had skipped dinner coming here. Via groaned in frustration; now she was both lost AND hungry. Great! So that was another headache for her already awful day!

Via let out a long, tired, sigh. Well, at least a snack would do her some good right? She figured, once she was rested and full, she could maybe resume her search for a place to lie down. Or more likely try to find some other realm to travel to. Some place better than this.

But good lord, what was she supposed to choose? It wasn't that there was anything available; if anything the whole market was busting with stands selling various foods, that the public was more than happy to consume. But from the different-looking people and all the food on display, the young girl had no idea what would be remotely edible for her. Some of it was just a bowl full of eyeballs, fingers, and toenail clippings. And she was pretty sure, it had eaten the guy who had purchased it. Octavia nearly gagged when she saw that.

Finally, she found a stand selling something that seemed reasonably edible to her. Kebabs of barbequed rats. At least, it looked like a rat… apart from the extra eyeball on its back.

Oh well, it was better than nothing. "How much?" she asked the vendor, some kind of five-eyed worm man.

"5 Snails for each Rat."

Snails? That was an odd way to say $ouls, but Via didn't question it. She just handed the man a single 10-dollar bill, and took two of his offers, taking a bite while he expected the money. Surprisingly, it wasn't half bad. A bit more sour than a regular rat, and the eyeball was still weird, but-

"HEY, THIS AIN'T SNAILS!" The man exclaimed in outrage, grabbing Via roughly by the arm and pulling her back, glaring at the owlet as the worm crumbled up the dollar in his hand. "What kinda fake currency is this? Are you trying to rip me off or something?!"

"Guh, get OFF me, you asshole. I gave you your money, didn't I?" Octavia squirmed as she tried to fight off the man pulling at her. What the fuck was his problem? She had paid for the food, hadn't she?

"You call this counterfeit load cash?!" The five-eyed demon shouted as he placed her $oul dollar down on the counter, next to a different bill, one completely different from hers. "You can't even get the symbols right, you lousy thief! What kind of a Snail is this?"

Via's eyes widen as she saw the different bill and a realization suddenly struck. Shit! Of course! How in Hell did she not think of this? This was a completely different realm from Hell! Of course, her money wouldn't be accepted here! Gah, she was such an idiot! She had been so eager to get out, Via hadn't considered that very likely possibility of that. Stupid!

"Give me back my rats, you little thief!" The worm man reached out towards Via's hand, wanting to reclaim his ill-lost rats, only for the runaway to stretch out of his path. Even after technically robbing him, Octavia was getting very hangry at the moment and wasn't about to lose her meal just yet. The struggle continued for a short while, attracting a small crowd before Via reared her arm forward as hard as she could. Perhaps a bit too hard, as the worm with his noodly weak arms was tossed into another vendor, resulting in both him and the shop being turned into a broken mess by the street.

Octavia recoiled at what she had accidentally caused, dropping her snacks on the ground as she started panicking. "Oh shit! Oh fuck, fuck, fuck, sorry. I'm so sorry that was-"

"Hey, you!" Her panic was interrupted as two odd-looking men dressed in white cloaks, wearing bird-like masks and holding what looked to be spears pointed at her. "You're coming with us!"

One of them reached their hand outwards to grab her, but Via recoiled and bolted, the guards giving chase.

SHIT! Shit! Shit! This was all falling apart! Well, that was it; she wasn't staying here a second longer! It was bad enough, the whole place was weird, the people were jackasses and her money wasn't good for shit here, now she was being arrested for an accident! This place was fucking awful! She had to find some other realm to hide in, hopefully somewhere less hostile than here. Not bothering to turn, she pulled out the book and started to open-

ZAP!

"Gah!" Octavia exclaimed, as a bolt of lightning arced from behind her, just barely missing her body…but hitting the book dead center. The owl demon ceased to run, as she looked in terror at the remains of the tome, now sporting a large, smoldering hole in the middle, as pages started falling off. "No! Nononono! Not now!" She scrambled to recover the book, batting away the embers and collecting the pages before they flew away, hoping that she could still fix them despite their state.

She was stopped by someone roughly grabbing her by the wrist. Via turned to see one of the guards, preparing to cuff her up. "Warden Wrath's gonna be very interested in you, kid."

Octavia couldn't muster up the strength to struggle. After an already stressful morning and now this, she was all but ready to give up. She was gonna spend fuck knows how long in a cell, trapped in a confusing as shit world, with seemingly no way of escaping or returning to Hell. FUCK! It wasn't fair, she just wanted a normal day for once! Now that was all over.…

"Okay, King I think that's everything accounted for, but let's do a quick rundown to be sure, yeah?"

On the other side of the market, everything was seemingly peaceful, as a human girl and the young and cuddly demon, who had become her surrogate brother, were just about finished with their grocery shopping. A mostly unremarkable chore, but at the moment, it was a very welcome relief to the young girl, after recent events.

It had been a while now since Luz Noceda the Human Witch, had been briefly reunited with her mother. A moment that still weighed heavily on her mind, as she could remember her tearful mami pleading that she stay with her, and never return to the Boiling Isles once she came back. She had never meant to hurt her mom like that; even after talking about it with Amity, the guilt still weighed heavily on her. Not helped by the increasing threat of Belos, and the Day of Unity approaching.

But she could worry about that later. For now, they had groceries to check up on, so she placed her bags down to check the contents, King doing the same, nearly dropping his in the process. Luz had offered to carry all of the bags, but the little guy had insisted on carrying at least one, wanting to do his part in helping…and showing off his mighty strength to everyone. She had to admire his dedication, even after struggling with the load.

"Apple Blood?"

"Check!"

"Griffin Eggs?"

"Check!"

"Chimera Meat?"

"Check!"

"Eyeballs and Goo?"

"Check!"

"The veggies, the fruits, and the bug parts?"

"Check, check, and Check!"

"Ice scream co-wait a minute," Luz paused at that one, not remembering it on the list when Eda had handed it to her. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to have been scribbled in by someone else given the vastly different and childish handwriting.

She turned to the likely suspect with a bemused frown. "King…are you trying to sneak in snacks again?"

"Awww come on, please?" King pleaded the little guy giving her such an adorable puppy dog look as he held his hands together while looking up at the human. "Just a little one? I promise not to tell Eda if you won't."

The human sighed and shook her head in amusement. "Bud, you know, we gotta stick to what's important. The Selkigris money's not going to last forever. Plus, if you keep gorging yourself on sweets, your teeth are gonna rot…I think. Still have no idea how demon teeth work down here."

"But, I haven't had a cone, in like forever!" The little guy insisted, like a stubborn little toddler, wanting to stay up one hour longer before bed. "I'll let you scratch my belly before bed!" He offered in exchange, doing his best to look as cute as possible.

Even after all her time here, poor Luz didn't have quite enough resistance to fight off her little brother's cute little bribe. Especially a belly rub. He hardly even let her pet him like that anymore. It made her genuinely conflicted for a moment. "Aww come on, King, you know that's-"

A sudden, loud commotion from the marketplace, brought the matter to a halt. Both King and Luz turned to the source, just in time to watch a tall bird demon running for her life, chased by a pair of Belos' Coven Scouts. The human witch frowned at the sight. "Let me put a pin on that King, we gotta help that girl!"

She immediately started running in the direction of the chase, leaving her groceries on the ground, already reaching for her glyphs, while poor, little King was struggling to follow, still carrying a heavy bag of groceries. "H-hey, wait for me! My mighty demon legs, aren't as long as yours."

"That's okay buddy, you can guard our food! I'll be right back!" Luz called out to King, pushing her way through the crowd, leaving the little demon with the task of watching over their wares. It a bit of effort to catch up, given the sizeable crowd that had started to form, but after a few rough squeezes and near trips, the human witch was able to make it in time to see the defenseless owl girl about to be cuffed by the Coven Scouts. She seemed to be too scared or stressed to fight back, against their efforts to arrest her; desperately holding onto the remains of a ruined book.

"Warden Wrath's gonna be very interested in you, kid."

'Crud,' Luz knew she had to act quickly if she wanted to save the strange demon. But given the amount of trouble she and Eda already were in, she couldn't risk getting caught now. What to do?

Then she had a thought; with how many people there gathered to watch the spectacle, likely no one would notice if she were to activate a glyph or two amongst the crowd, right? It was risky, but at the moment it was the best she could think of.

Luz backed into the crowd, blending into the masses focused on the arrest, then pulled out a trio of glyphs, hoping her plan would work. First, she held her breath and turned herself invisible, fully disappearing amidst the crowd. Then she slapped the remaining two on the ground, and immediately a large vine and a pillar of ice erupted from her spells. The crowd parted as the spells raced towards the Coven Scouts, the masked soldiers turning around just in time to be thrown through a window by a slap of a vine and the burst of an ice crystal.

Everyone gasped and cried out at the sudden twist, and even the shaken Octavia had been taken aback by the unexpected rescue. She lay there on the ground for a while, the remains of the book still held tightly in her arm, unable to form a good response, before she felt a gentle nudge trying to push her away from the crowd.

The princess let out a small gasp at the touch, especially, when it seemed it had come from nowhere. Then it felt like an invisible hand, gently touched her shoulder and started leading away from the scene. Octavia was still a bit too shaken to resist, and honestly just wanted to go as far from here as possible, before more people tried to arrest her. She was led into the nearby alley, as the Coven Scouts recovered and the crowd dispersed before they would get the blame for this.

Octavia followed the lead of her invisible guide, through the alleys and the market, all the way to a mostly vacant part of town, at which point the invisible force stopped…and a small, human teen materialized in front of her, looking very out of breath. For what felt like the twentieth time today, Via recoiled in surprise, nearly dropping the book, as she just watched the girl take a deep, panted breath. "Oh my gosh! I can't believe that actually worked." She panted a short while longer, before nearly doubling over on top of Octavia. "Ooooh boy, little too long without air there…"

Via had managed to catch her, but this seemed to finally snap something in the owl demon, as she soon tossed her off and let out a pissed-off groan: "Gah! I can't FUCKING take it anymore! Home's awful and here's awful too! Just one goddamn mess after the other!"

Luz was rather surprised by the goth owl's frustrated exclamation, not expecting this reaction at all. Still, she did her best to try and comfort the poor girl, clearly on the verge of a meltdown. "H-hey, now i-it' oka-"

"DON'T!" Via spat at the human girl, causing Luz to flinch, as the demon stared daggers at her. "Don't fucking use that word, it's bullshit, you hear? Nothing's okay!"

The owl demon said the last part with venom practically dripping from her voice, before storming off; not even caring having no idea where she was going or what to do next. She just wanted to be left alone and was riding solely on the fumes of her anger to guide her through her path. Luz, however, was not about to let her go, quickly rushing after and grabbing her hand. "H-hey wait up!" Via glared at her upon contact, but the human girl didn't back down. "Sorry, but you really shouldn't be going alone out there, especially with the scouts looking out for you. Trust me, they're probably sending more guys after you right now."

Octavia was about to push her off until she considered the girl's warning. She had a point. Those men were probably still after her, and she did not want to face them again. Especially if there were more of them looking for her. So, Via stopped and nodded in agreement, much to Luz's relief. "Fine…but where in Hell else, am I supposed to go? Nothing in this damn place makes any sense!"

That caught Luz's curiosity. How was it that this person didn't seem to know much about the Boiling Isles? Was she a foreigner of some kind? Maybe a demon from a different island than this one? That had to be it right? "Well, do you have any home, maybe some friends or family somewhere close?" She suggested, the subject making Via uncomfortable. "I can help you find them if you like. I think I'm pretty familiar with this place by now. Plus, not to brag or anything, but I'm kinda used to dodging Coven men these days." She said the last part with levity, hoping to brighten the situation a bit for the girl. It didn't work much, as Via snorted bitterly.

"Heh, not anymore…" She answered with a quiet, almost sad chuckle, causing Luz to grimace ashamed.

"Oh, sorry, didn't know," Luz apologized softly, feeling guilty at having brought up a potentially sensitive subject; fearing she had only made things worse. Tentatively she asked. "A-are they dead or locked up in Conformatorium?"

"No, they're perfectly alive and well. Probably busy screaming at each other again, to notice I'm even gone," Octavia muttered darkly, grimacing at the thought, as she crossed her arms and turned away from the now worried human girl. "Doesn't even matter, I'll probably never see them again, anyway. Not now that this is in fucking pieces!" She threw the now useless book on the floor in anger,

'Woah, that's a lot to unpack there,' Luz couldn't help but think to herself. Despite having just met her, it seemed there was more to this stranger than first thought. She sounded so angry and yet from her posture, her mood, and her wording, it seemed so tired and sad. From what little she could gather, she had been through a lot. Through things that seemed…oddly familiar to Luz. Family troubles, a desire to escape, her ending up here due to a book, things that hit a bit too close to Luz. The human couldn't help but gently ask: "Did…did you run away from home? Is that how you ended up here? You tried to run away?"

And just like that, at the small bit of sympathy from this complete stranger, Octavia finally broke down, tears overwhelming her eyes, as she hugged herself and cried into a pitiful stupor. "I…I just wanted a fucking break for once! I just wanted some place, where I didn't have to deal with all the fighting, the screaming of my damn parents, all of the cheating, divorce bullshit." She muttered the last part darkly, yet sounded so tired and defeated as she sobbed, sitting on the dirty ground, beside the ruined book. "And now, I'm stuck in some fucking nightmare world filled with weird creatures, bones coming from the ground, and a bunch of assholes trying to arrest me! I just-I can't…"

She couldn't finish the sentence, as Via just wept quietly, all the while Luz just stood there by the sides, unsure what to say. When she had gone to save the girl, she hadn't expected such a sudden twist. What on Earth had the poor thing gone through? Did her parents do something to hurt her? Was she abused? And what was that about being trapped here? She said it as if she was from another world. Like her. Wait…that book. Did it send her here? Like how the door had led Luz into the Demon Realm? Was she like her? Other than Philip this was the only other time, she had heard of people coming to the Boiling Isles from some other plane. Could it be possible that-

Luz quickly shook away those thoughts. Right now she had to help the still broken-up demon, not geek out over how she got here or what her issues were. Carefully, she approached the crying Octavia. Sitting next to her, Luz gently started stroking her back. It seemed to do the trick, even if only a little, as the owl demon's cries seemed to slow for a short while.

"I'm sorry all that had to happen to you. If it helps…I know a thing or two about what you're going through. Especially the trapped in another world part…"

Via's sobs came to a stop, as she eyed the human curiously. Luz gave her a small, comforting smile and offered her a helping hand.

"You need a place to stay for the night?"

I hope I did a good job writing Luz, King, and the world of The Owl House thus far. It's been a while since I watched Season 2, but I tried my best to make the characterization and status quo as closely to memory as possible. Hopefully, I can manage the same throughout the rest of the story. Assuming I ever get around to finishing it XD
