Chapter 4: Searching

They flew until they landed at their safehouse and retracted the suit. The vigilante sat down on the couch and took a few deep breaths. He has had a tangle with the police before, sometimes they cross paths when stopping a huge criminal organization or the police finding his work and they come to clean up. He thought about what Jenny said and his mind went to a very... terrifying day something he wished he could forget. What snapped him out of this thought was his partner Ninetales, she is the world to him and without her his world stops.

(You can't blame yourself for the things that happened,) she told him.

"Either things happen around or I," he thinks a bit before continuing, "cause a little bit of ruckus, that one time, THE one time I did and now some see me as trusted, and the others wish I wasn't here."

(You're doing what you have to do,) she puts her paw in his lap, (weather you act tuff or not. Just do how you do.)

He put his hand on her paw with a smile, "Thanks." He stood up and went to his computer in his room.

That encouragement was something he needed and to help him think and start looking for the cosplay band.

He boots up his computer which displays most of the cameras all over Kalos and locates the ones near the concert at Anistar City. A couple of login screens flashed quickly through, and he has access to the whole camera systems which showed all around the city from the beginning of the day. He fasted forward it to the night of the concert and eventually to the point of the battle but then a problem came up. There weren't any other cameras close to the stage so then he had to move the camera close to where the guitar player fled to.

"Well, this is going to be a problem. When he used explosion, he blinded the camera view so I can't track where he left," he also pulls up the map, "routes connect to it and it's not like they have security cameras in the woods that often."

Then his computer spotted something near the stage close enough to where it may have clues to the villain's whereabouts. A camera close enough to the stage but looks destroyed from the explosion, however in his view, there was a door no doubt to the security room.

"Here," he pointed on his screen, "we need to go back and get into that room, it may have the recording I need."

(Wouldn't officer Jenny still be there?) She asked.

"Crud," he cursed, "you're right and I don't want to deal with them, so it looks like I need to get close and hack in. Meaning we need to go back."

They arrived at the site again which was very destroyed from the attack. They moved to an alleyway, and he suited back up again, pulling up his mask revealing his H.U.D. It showed a map of the area and red dots on the screen that represented a person, lucky they had tech on them so it was easy to track them. The dots moved and had arrows showing which way they moving.

"From the looks of it, we got to sneak around. Just follow my lead," he told Ninetales.

She nodded and they both went into the "restricted area" site, which appeared as red letters on his HUD. They crouched behind structures big enough to where they wouldn't be caught by the police. Then they encountered a problem, an officer standing in front of the security room, and it seems like he will not be moving anytime soon.

"I got an idea."

He reaches into his pocket and takes out a very small device that looks handmade, then tosses it somewhere beside the office. From this HUD, he activates it and it played a sound that caught the officer's attention.

"Come on, take the bait."

They went over to investigate which was the perfect opportunity for the vigilante to move in. Ninetales and the vigilante slipped by and made it into the security room and locked it behind them. The room looked damaged, mostly wires hanging out from the various controls and panels.

"Everything is destroyed and the systems," he types on the keyboard, only get a spark in his face, "also destroyed. Let's keep looking, there is must be something here."

They dug around the ruins and only found more and more junk, until his HUD beeped. He scanned the room and a small light lit up under some rock. He investigated and removed the rocks and what they found was a guitar pick. He picks it up and analyzed it more and found small amounts of tech inside it.

"He used this to attack us, the way he can fire electricity from his guitar. It is fried however," Ninetales came up and sniffed it.

She coughed a bit, (It doesn't have a pleasant aroma.)

"That's it, can you track him with his scent?"

She nodded, "Alright. Now let's get out of here."

They made their way quickly and quietly out, sneaking past any of the police that were still investigating. But before they were in the clear, the vigilante heard a conversation going on between two officers. He couldn't hear from far away so instead he hacked into their comms.

"Status update on the wreckage."

"Nothing, pretty much all evidence is destroyed. All we have is whoever attacked, has pretty good usage of sonic blasts and electricity."

"Looking through the data base, not many fit those criteria except for one, someone named Major Roth."

"Major Roth," the vigilante said to himself.

They left the area away from the stage and backed out onto the main sidewalks in Anistar city with his mask and hood down. They walked for a while, and he made a phone call.

"Larry, can you run through a name for me?"

"I would've expected a "hey Larry, its good to hear from you again, sorry i've been away", but I guess you're easy to get right back into the action.

The vigilante laughed a little, "I know I was away for a while; I needed some time to recollect and regroup."

"I can see that, you know when you made your new suit, I got a swarm of data that came in."

He thought for a minute and remembered, "Oh yeah, I forgot about that feature."

"Anyway, Major Roth, he was a guitar teacher that offered private lessons, and stopped about a year ago due to stress. He was once a good person, but I guess doesn't have a good outlet."

"So, someone who's just mad because he didn't get a ticket," he puts his fingers to his chin, "a bit over the top."

"You could say that. But check this out, apparently his guitar has a unique energy signature," a bit of typing can be heard, "I've traced it, and it shows that they're in a old music store but in the lower parts of it."

He chuckled, "thanks Larry."

"Hey happy to help, also welcome back."

The call ended and the vigilante chuckled. Larry is the computer guy but also his friend he trusts in case his systems are down like a physical computer but human. They've been together for a long time, but Larry doesn't leave his screens or y get together, none-the-less they work with each other.

He sat down at a bench and Ninetales followed and looked at his HUD to see the location which was a shop that from the reports is run down but still intact in Lumiose City. His sights were set and it was time to get the cosplay band back.

"We found him, you ready to go?" he asked Ninetales.

(Yea, Let's go.)

With that response, they both walked to a secluded area then flew away to Lumiose City.
