Little One, Little Danger
(The Revision)
Chapter 10:
"Beautiful, isn't it?"
Three days had passed and the strange vision was still haunting Raven's thoughts. She was restless, lying in her bed with her gaze to the ceiling in the early hours of the morning. Raiden had spent the night in Robin's room in case she had any nightmares after the guys let her watch this horror movie despite Raven's warning. It didn't bother her much but…the two figures in that vision she had entered her thoughts…it was a memory…but that couldn't be possible. Nothing like that ever happened, but…
"Richard…"
…would it? A sudden knock on her door interrupted her thoughts. She turned her head in the direction of it and informed whoever was standing out there to come in. The door slid open to reveal Starfire. "Good morning, friend Raven." She smiled, "Do you have a moment to chat?"
Raven sat up, "Sure, Starfire." The alien princess flew into the room sat at the foot of the bed. "So, what's going on? Everything okay?"
"Yes, it's just…friend Bumblebee and I had talked during the last few days on the topic of decompressing and stress relief."
Raven raised a brow, "So you and Bee have been stressed lately?"
"Oh no, not that I'm aware of I think." Star chuckled, "But I've learned that the body itself can become tense and stressed without us even knowing it, isn't that interesting?" Raven had no idea where this conversation was going, but she continued to listen. "So friend Bee and I came up with a most glorious idea to relax the body."
Raven folded her arms beneath her chest, "Which is?"
"An all girls' trip to Gotham's Island spa!" Starfire threw her hands in the air as her face lit up.
Raven's brow twitched, "You two want to take a trip to a spa…on an island in Gotham?"
"Yes! Is it not a great idea?!" The girl brought her hands back down and settled them within her lap. "I know you do not favor things such as these…" Star lowered her gaze with a soft smile, "…but I feel like it has been a while since we have done the 'hanging out'." She lifted her gaze again with a bigger genuine smile, "So please come with us?"
Raven felt her heart ache a little at Star's words and it changed the original reply she wanted to give her. She gave her a small smile with a slight nod, "Okay, Star. I'll go."
The girl immediately embraced her in a bear hug, "Oh thank you so much!"
"When do we leave?" Raven adjusted her pajamas after Starfire released her hold.
"Tomorrow morning!"
Her dark friend's brow twitched again, "A bit short notice don't you think."

Robin found it hard for him to sleep and it had nothing to do with Raiden taking up half of his full-sized bed…it was something else. He slowly and quietly got out of bed and left the room to head to the living room. As he passed Raven's room, he didn't hear the girls and assumed that everyone else was still asleep. He soon plopped himself down on the couch and placed a pair of earpods into his ears, connecting them to his phone. Music begun to blare and just as he started to close his eyes and bob his head to the music, he remembered something he forgot to do. "Oh crap!" He hurried to get to his feet, almost running into Starfire, "Whoa! S-Sorry Star."
"Oh, it's okay. Good morning." She smiled shaking off the feeling of being slightly startled.
Robin composed himself, "Morning. You're up early."
"Yes I uh…*ahem*…I was talking with friend Raven about something."
"Yeah?" He leaned over to look towards the hall, "She's up too?"
Starfire shook her head, "Not anymore, she had decided to get more rest of the beauty."
"Right. That makes sense." Robin decided to sit back down on the couch, Starfire joining him.
"You were quite in a hurry just now, did something happen?"
He removed his earpods, "No, not really. I just happened to remember something I was supposed to do but forgot."
"I am sorry. Was it something important?"
"Well…to tell you the truth…I'm not sure." Robin smiled sheepishly with a faint blush.
The girl always enjoyed seeing his smile. It filled her with warmth and always brought a smile to her own face. "You have a dash of a smile Robin, I love it."
Robin turned to her a chuckled as he figured she probably meant "dashing" smile, "Thanks Star, I love your sunny smile as well."
The two faced forward and laid back on the couch, the sun was starting to rise over the horizon and it was a nice view from where they sat. Starfire leaned over to Robin a little, resting her head on his left shoulder, "If I had a wish to make at this moment, would you like to know what it would be?"
"Sure, why don't you tell me." His head tilted slightly and ended up resting on her own.
Starfire blushed with a soft smile, "I wish-"
"Daddy?" a little voice came from the hallway.
Both Robin and Starfire sat up and turned around to look behind the couch, "Raiden?" The girl's eyes were puffy and red as she rubbed them.
"I had a nightmare."
Robin stood and made his way over to her, crouching down to wipe away her remaining tears, "Hey, it's gonna be okay kiddo, don't worry. We'll go straight back to bed and I'll read one of your new books to you alright." Raiden sniffed and gave him a nod before he took one of her hands and walked with her out of the living room. Starfire watched them leave until they were out of sight, her heart breaking a little. She turned around and faced ahead again, this time alone as she sighed. The sunrise had continued, still beautiful but not as fulfilling as it would've been moments ago.

The next day…
"A trip?!" Beastboy, Cyborg, and Robin replied simultaneously after hearing the news.
"Yes, for us girls only." Starfire smiled while giving them the peace sign.
Robin looked over at Raven who was sharing pancakes with Raiden, "But who's gonna help with Raiden?"
"Stop freaking out Robin." Raven spoke without turning his way, "She can basically take care of herself better than either of you three."
Starfire giggled, "And it will only be for two days."
"Two days is long according to dude time man." Beastboy nudged Cyborg.
Raven poured Raiden a glass of milk, "Besides, this trip wasn't my idea. If you want to complain, do so to Starfire and Bumblebee."
"Thank you mama." Raiden's mouth was full of pancakes and Robin couldn't help but chuckle while Raven grinned slightly with a "you're welcome".
"Wait…Bee's going too?" Cyborg's heart skipped a beat just as the doorbell chimed.
"I got it!" Beastboy ran to the door.
Robin shook his head because the green boy tripped on his way there, "So when are you girls leaving?"
"This morning actually." Both Raven and Star answered.
"This morning?" Robin's eye twitched.
"And you're just NOW telling us." Cyborg shook his head.
"Hey hey hey everyone!" Bumblebee strolled in with a suitcase in tow. She was greeted by everyone and she turned to the girls, "Y'all ready to go?"
"I am done with the packing so yes! I will go retrieve my belongings and return." Starfire flew out the room towards hers.
Raven used her dark-telekinesis and phased her suitcase through several walls until it was near her, "Ready."
Raiden pouted, "Mama…are you leaving?"
"Not for long Raiden." Raven pulled some of the little girl's hair behind her ear. "So be a big girl until I come back."
Robin approached the other side of the girl, "Besides, me, Cyborg and Beastboy will still be here and we'll have loads of fun."
Raiden smiled wide, "You are pretty fun."
"Heck yeah we are." Robin picked her up in his arms and spun her around once, getting a giggle out of her.
Starfire came back, two suitcases in her possession; Bee raised a brow, "Girl, we're only gonna be gone for two days."
"Yes, I know." Star cocked her head to the side in slight confusion.
Bee shook her head with a chuckle, "Whatever makes you happy Star. Alright…" She clasped her hands together, "…we better head out if we don't want to miss the free body massage that comes with our treatment package." Starfire's morphed into stars and she immediately flew out the front door.
Raven walked with Bee towards the front, "I didn't know a free massage was included."
"Girl let me tell you." Bee chuckled.
The guys walked the girls to the front door, Raiden holding one of Robin's hands. Before Bumblebee stepped out, she told them goodbye while Beastboy mumbled beneath his breath about how lucky they were. Cyborg agreed and decided to head down to the garage leaving Raven, Robin and Raiden by an opened front door.
"Whatever you do…" Robin gave Raven a serious look that got her to raise a brow, "…enjoy yourself and relax." His facial expression change as he smiled.
She rolled her eyes but gave him a subtle grin, "Yeah, thanks for the tip." As she turned to walk away, she then remembered something, "In case you're wondering, Raiden's clothes have been laid out for the next two days."
"Okay, thanks."
"There's also some gummy snacks in the cabinet is she's hungry before meals but be firm and let her have no more than ONE."
"Okay, Raven."
"During her bath, use the sensitive skin for children that's resting on my bathroom counter because she'll breakout if you use anything else."
"Got it."
"Also her shampoo is—"
"Raven!" Robin placed two fingers over her lips to stop her from rambling. "Relax, I think I can handle it. Now go on and have a good time, whether you want to or not."
Raven was taken back by him but then blushed slightly at all the nonsense that came out of her mouth, like she was…an actual mother. Her gaze traveled past him and saw Raiden flying off to the kitchen. "S-Sorry…I don't know where that came from."
Robin smiled, "Don't worry about it, Raiden's in good hands." Suddenly he felt Raven's arms wrap around his neck, quickly embracing him. Though before he could return the gesture she had already let go, just as quickly as she made the move to hold on. She faced away from him, cheeks feeling with warmth as that internal growth happened again, but this time they didn't notice it.
"Take care of her." Raven's phone begun to vibrate as Bumblebee sent her a text message.
Robin lowered his gaze with a sheepish smile as he blushed, "Yeah, you can count on me." As he lifted his gaze, he saw the girl exit the front door out of sight without looking back to his dismay.

That late afternoon…
Beastboy and Cyborg had taken Raiden to go swimming while Robin stayed behind to catch up on some work, that consisted of sorting some of their mission files. He skimmed through documents on the supercomputer unable to concentrate because he kept thinking about how cute the little girl looked in her bathing suit.
"Look at me daddy!" she had said.
"Wow, don't you look pretty." He smiled.
"Daddy I'm a fish! Guess what kind of fish I am?"
"Umm…a mermaid?"
She stuck out her tongue at him, "Boo! Wrong! I'm a shark! Rawr!"
He fell over laughing, "A shark?" Too cute!
"Yeah and I'm gonna eat up Uncle BB and Uncle Cy." Raiden then begun to mimic a well-known killer shark theme song.
"Ah, it's baby-Jaws!" Beastboy pretended to be scared as he ran away.
Robin grinned at his thoughts, but then shook them out so he could concentrate more fully.
"Daddy? Aren't you coming with us?"
"Not this time kiddo, got some work to finish."
She pouted, "But, you said we'd have fun…"
"I uh…"
Robin's face dropped as he remembered how disappointed she looked when he told her that he wouldn't be joining them…it made him feel like crap. He left the room coming to realize that he was not going to get any work done. Robin walked through the living room over to the overlook window. He could see the park in the far distance where the sakura trees stood year round. They were so-
A woman was running between sakura trees, a smile on her face while someone ran behind her laughing. The voice sounded like a man's but…he couldn't be seen and even the woman herself seemed like a blur. "You're falling behind." She taunted him while she got closer to her destination.
"You do know that I'm holding back and letting you win."
The woman came to a stop at the edge of an ocean's shore. She stood, staring at the massive body of water while the man crept up behind her causing her to stumble. He chuckled as he grabbed her before she fell and pulled her close to him, his arms around her waist. held her "You better be glad that I didn't fall." She grumbled beneath her breath as she rested her hands on top of his.
"Sorry, I couldn't resist." He grinned. Together, they looked out over the ocean at the setting sun on the horizon. A cool breeze passing over them that made the woman's hair and dress flow with it.
"Beautiful…isn't it?"
The man pulled her closer, "Yes…but not as beautiful as you." The woman in his arms felt her heart flutter at his words and she titled her head upward to gaze into his eyes. He released a hand from around her waist and brought it up to cup her cheek, pulling her face to his so that he could kiss her.
Robin came out of his trance trying to catch his breath confused to what just happened, "What the hell was that?!"
{ }
The next afternoon…
Robin was stretched out over the couch, an arm across his mask. Since yesterday, he hasn't been able to shake that strange vision out of his head.
"Yo Robin." Cyborg entered the living room.
"What is it Cyborg?" He didn't move.
"Have you seen Raiden anywhere?"
Robin moved his arm and lifted his head slightly to look over at his friend, "No…why?"
"Well…" Cyborg chuckled nervously, "…I just haven't seen her in the last…hour."
Robin's eye begun to twitch, "Tell me you're joking."
Cyborg shrugged, "Uh…my bad?"
"Cyborg!" Robin groaned and quickly sat up, "Raven's gonna kill me!"
"Maybe we're just overthinking it." Cyborg thought to himself, "She could be with Beastboy."
Robin got to his feet, "Why, has he gone missing too?" He soon headed towards the green boy's room with Cyborg right behind him. When they approached, Robin banged on his door, "Beastboy, you in there!"
After another knock or two, the boy's door slid open and he was met with the faces of his two friends, "Dude, who died?"
"Is Raiden with you?" Robin walked into the room and scanned the area.
Beastboy shook his head, "Nope, but she's—"
"Right here daddy." Raiden levitated behind them in the hallway.
Robin turned around relieved before hurrying over to her, "Raiden, where did you run off to by yourself? You had us worried."
"I-I'm sorry…" The stern tone in his voice made her feel a bit timid, "…I just went to the garage and…please don't be mad." She sniffed while holding back tears.
Their leader sighed as he rubbed his temples, "No…I'm not mad kiddo just…let one of us know where you are so that we make sure you don't get hurt or anything." The girl gave him a light nod with an "okay" as he gently rustled her hair.
Beastboy rolled his eyes and approached them, pushing Robin aside, "Your DAD here is just being an overprotective parent." He crouched down, "Want to go get some ice cream?" Robin narrowed his eyes at the boy as Raiden gave him a nod and he took one of her hands, leading her back down the hall towards the kitchen.
"Man, we dodged that bullet." Cyborg chuckled while he playfully nudged Robin, "You know…Raven's wrath."
Robin sighed as they left Beastboy's room and headed to the living room, "Yeah…but I lost my cool for a second. Not sure what came over me." The internal growth occurred again without his knowledge. He sat back down on the couch with Cyborg.
"Don't sweat it man, you're just…oddly starting to act like her DAD." He chuckled.
"Am I?"
Cyborg grabbed the remote and turned the TV on, "Yeah, it's cool but it's freaking me out."
Robin leaned back into the couch, "Me too." The vision he had the previous day came to mind, "Hey Cyborg?"
"What's up?"
"Something weird happened to me yesterday."
"You mean weirder than usual?"
Robin sighed, "Yes." The images flashed in his thoughts again, "Yesterday I had this memory…or vision of some sort-" He was interrupted by the sound of his phone going off.
"Who's that?" Cyborg looked to him.
"Raven." Robin answered the call, "Hey."
"Hey. How's things? I had this weird feeling that something was wrong."
Robin's grinned nervously, "Uh, I don't know why because things here are great!" Cyborg raised a brow at him.
"Where's Raiden?"
"Oh she's in the kitchen with Beastboy having ice cream."
"Not too much I hope, or you'll have one hell of a time getting her to sleep."
Crap. He'd need to check on those two, "No, never. I have the situation under control." He chuckled nervously, "So uh…what're you girls up to?"
"About to head out to this Lebanese restaurant. You guys?"
"I think Cyborg is trying to find us a movie to watch. You want to talk to Raiden?"
"No, that's okay. I just wanted to check in and let you guys know that we should be back around noon tomorrow."
He nodded, "Ok, we'll see you then."
"Bye."
"Bye." The call ended.
"What she had to say man?"
Robin placed his phone on the coffee table, "That they'd be back tomorrow about noon. She also mentioned that she sensed something was wrong, can you believe that?"
Cyborg chuckled, "Women can sense these things."

That night Raiden slept in Beastboy's room since he happened to be her best friend for the day. She was excited that Raven was coming home the next day though. Robin just finished relating the vision/memory to Cyborg. "Wow. That is strange."
"Tell me about it." Robin sighed.
"Who do you think the people were?"
He shook his head, "Beats me. All seemed like a blur."
"You think it's a clue or something?"
"A what?" Robin raised a brow.
"You know, a clue as to what's been going on with you, Raven and Raiden."
Robin chuckled, "I wish it were that simple."
"Sometimes it can be you know." Cyborg chugged a root beer.
"Like why you keep trying to hide how you feel about Bumblebee?" Robin grinned.
His statement caused his friend to have a coughing fit and ended with a blush across his cheeks, "I…why are you bringing that up?"
"Why don't you just talk with her?"
Cyborg placed his bottle down on the coffee table and sighed, "I don't know man. Could have something to do with being rejected I guess."
Robin shrugged, "Never know unless you try right?"
"I guess." He smiled softly, "You know Bee said the same thing when it came to Aqualad."
Robin raised a brow confused, "Why Aqualad?"
"Well apparently he has a crush on Raven." It was as if the words came out on their own and Cyborg just realized he let the boy's secret slip.
Robin's eyes widened, "Aqualad…likes Raven?"
"Uh…" Cyborg chuckled nervously, "…forget I said anything."
"Yeah…right." When did Aqualad start…Robin shook the question out of his head. There was no need to get worked up over the fact that someone else…erm…someone developed an attraction to the girl. They were all friends and had the right to be interested in anyone they so please. So why was his right temple beginning to throb out of irritation?

The next day…
It was well after five in the afternoon and there was still no sign of the girls. Raven pouted, "Daddy? Where is mama and Auntie Star?"
"I'm not sure kiddo, but they'll be here soon." He turned to her on the couch as she tugged on his shirt. The four of them had been watching TV and no sooner than he turned his attention back to the screen, than the doorbell chimed. Raiden immediately got up and flew towards the door, phasing through it.
Cyborg chuckled, "Anxious little thing ain't she."
Beastboy answered the door and found their two friends standing in wait, Raiden in Raven's arms. "May I help you ladies?" He grinned.
Raven rolled her eyes and pushed past him, "Just move."
"It is nice to see you Beastboy." Starfire gave him a smile before he stepped to the side to let her in, door closing behind her. She entered the living room moments after Raven who already greeted Robin and Cyborg so Star did the same.
Robin waved, "You two enjoyed yourselves?"
"Oh it was most wonderful!" Starfire clasped her hands together."
Raven shrugged, "It was…okay."
"Did you miss me mama?" Raiden snuggled her.
Raven smiled slightly, "You have no idea how much I missed you both." She then caught the words that came out of her mouth, "Both as in your oddly adorable face and free personality…that does not really match my own." Raven placed the girl down, trying to hold back an ever too eager blush, "I'll go unpack my things. When I return, I have something to give you."
Raiden flew back to the couch and sat between Robin and Cyborg, "Okay! I'll be right here."
Starfire nodded, "I shall go put away my things as well." She yawned, "And perhaps turn in for the rest of the evening, it has been a long day."
"Okay Star, we'll catch up on your trip tomorrow." Cyborg waved as the girl flew over to the couch and placed a little wrapped gift on Robin's lap and then headed towards the hall to her room.
Robin looked down at it, a little in disbelief as Beastboy popped his head from behind the couch, "Oooo! I wonder what it is?"
"Me too." Robin lifted the little box.
Raiden smiled excited, "Oh, open it daddy!"
"Marbles." Beastboy nodded, "A new collection of marbles."
Cyborg looked at him a bit dumb founded, "Man in that little box? Get real."
"Maybe ONE marble?" Beastboy grinned.
Suddenly Robin remembered something and stood to run to his room while he placed Star's gift on the coffee table. The three he left behind simply watched them and sweat ran down the back of their necks. "Jeez, it's not like he HATES marbles or anything." Beastboy shrugged.
Raven soon returned and held something behind her back, "Raiden."
"Mama!" Raiden the little girl jumped on the back of a tiger-transformed Beastboy.
The dark-natured girl levitated something from behind her in Raiden's direction. Raiden grabbed ahold of the box with her small hands and shook it near her ear. "What is it?"
"I believe the trick to finding that out is to open it." Raven took a seat on the available comfort chair. As if on cue, Raiden attacked the little box (literally) and opened it. Inside was a miniature iron nameplate with the girl's name on it.
"Wow Raven, a label." Beastboy rolled his eyes unenthused, "Just what every kid wants."
Raven ignored him, "Raiden, do you know what's that for?" The little girl shook her head, "If you head to the garage, you'll find a brand-new bike that should fit you perfectly."
"R-Real-!" Raiden didn't even finish the word before flying out the room.
Sweat ran down the back of Raven's head, "At least take someone—" Cyborg and Beastboy were already on the move to follow the girl, probably just as excited as she was. "Right."
"Wow, a new bike huh?"
Raven turned to find Robin, arms crossed over his chest as he leaned on one of the walls right outside the hallway, "Too much?"
Robin shook his head, "Not at all, it's great. It just might outdo my gift is all." He grinned.
The girl turned back around and stood, "It's not really a competition." She walked over to the outlook window and he slowly followed behind before they stopped to peer out of it. "That spa…between you and I…I did kind of, enjoy myself."
"I'm glad to hear that."
Raven glanced his way and noticed that he was clutching something behind his back, "What's that?"
"Huh?" He then realized what she was referring to and grinned, "To what are you referring to?" He tossed the object into the opposite hand out of her view.
Raven raised a brow, "Seriously? You're going to be all secretive about it?"
"Maybe." Before he could chuckle, Robin felt the girl retrieve the box from him with her dark telekinesis, phasing it through his grip. "Whoa, that was a weird sensation."
Raven let the box drop into the palm of her hand, "I don't take too kindly to the game 'keep-away'." She examined the box a bit curiously that was wrapped in shimmering black wrapping paper. The girl removed the paper and opened the box only to find a silver ring inside; the letter "R" engraved in the center.
"I know it's not really your style but…" Robin smiled softly, "…I saw it and thought of you."
Raven could feel the warmth building up in her cheeks as her chest tightened slightly, "Robin…why?"
"Just to say thanks for being such a good friend." Raven closed the box, causing his smile to drop, "You hate it don't you?"
She shook her head, "To be honest…no. Which is weird for me. I just…don't know what to say."
Robin moved her way, taking the box out of her hand and removing the ring inside. She watched him place the ring on her middle finger, "Just say, thank you."
"T-Thank you." The warmth in her cheeks increased as he released her hand. Robin then pulled out something from beneath his shirt, a chain that had a gold ring hanging from it. She noticed that it matched the one he gave her…the corners of her mouth curled slightly. Both of them turned back towards the outlook and the sun was beginning to set. Robin clenched the now empty box within his hand.
"Beautiful…isn't it." Raven spun the ring upon her finger.
Robin smiled softly, "Yeah…but not as beautiful as you, Raven." The girl's heart nearly stopped at his words as she felt him grab her hand, slowly interlacing their fingers. Her reaction was to do the same, feeling the warmth from him pass onto her, their focus still on the sunset in the distance. The internal growth occurred within them both once again.
From the hallway, Starfire had been watching them the entire time. She wanted to know what Robin thought about the keychain she had gotten him but…ended up witnessing a tender moment between the boy and Raven. Her heart ached and felt like it was slowly cracking at the display of affection between her two friends. She thought they were simply friends but…was there something more there that she wasn't aware of? The feeling of jealousy was rising in her again and she did not care for it. Starfire turned her attention away and placed a hand over her heart to exhale. She needed to go to bed, sleep would help calm her mind. Things could not be what she was thinking them to be.
