Summary: For the first time Mitsuru wakes up before Kikuno. Drabble
Birthdays and Bellflowers
Morning sunlight shone through the blinds. There were light chirps of birds that weren't true intrusive but provided a nice morning atmosphere. As conciseness immediately hit Mitsuru realized she felt warm, comfortable and more importantly well rested. Well, thanks to her birthday she took a few days off to rejuvenate. The sun rays slipping into the room made the petals of her bouquet resting on her night stand a more vibrant purple color. Her bedroom was the same as always, the same mattress and blankets. Her focus shifted towards the other side of the bed her lips tugging upwards. Same sleeping partner.
The empress turned ninety degrees onto her side with minimal movements to not disturb the sleeping girl. It was surprising that Kikuno was still in bed. The scion couldn't remember if that had ever happened before. The redhead was a morning person who didn't need to rely on an alarm and the attendant was the same way. Had she ever seen Kikuno so defenseless? Mitsuru really must've tired out the smaller girl last night.
The maid tended to be a stomach sleeper so her back was pretty much all the empress could see right now. The view was still amazing. Her short hair splayed out revealing her pale shoulders lightly littered with affection marks from the night before. A flood of passionate memories of the night before flashed in the front of her mind. Kikuno had completely succumbed to her will yesterday. Enrapturing her assistant in pleasure till she could no longer stay awake. Mitsuru felt a bit of pride from that. She redoubled her efforts and was able to complete her main objective yesterday.
The persona user rose up on her arms stretching her spine and trying to get a peek of her face. Kikuno's breathing was slow and steady and her vulnerable expression peaceful. The movement caused the blanket to slip down to reveal a bit more naked skin. A completely naked body except for the new gold band placed on her ring finger. The shiny ring made a twinge of giddiness fill her chest. In her mind it felt like there was a difference of waking up next to her today with the ring on verses waking up next to her prior. It was just a dose of Oxytocin being released in her body.
Mitsuru shifted closer wrapping her arms around Kikuno's middle spooning into her back. Their bodies molded together, filling in every curve with her own. Mitsuru nuzzled against her nape breathing her fragrant skin. Vanilla and lavender mixed with sweat from exertion surrounded her. She placed opened mouth kisses on the arch of her shoulder sucking over the mark she made yesterday. The slight perspiration from yesterday's night evaporated and chilled her skin to Mitsuru's lips.
Tenderly her teeth nipped against her throat wanting to leave a fresh mark. Mitsuru knew fully well that the maid was now awake. The smile on Kikuno's face gave it away. The smaller woman woke up the second she was cuddled. If she was going to continue to feign being asleep then the persona user was going to take advantage of it. The redhead's lips caught her earlobe causing a small gasp and a hum to escape her throat. The continuing gentle torture of breaths gusting onto the nape of her neck made Kikuno's eyes fluttered opened. The maid craned her neck to use one hand to bring the heiress down for a real kiss.
When they broke away they greeted each other warmly. "Good morning, my love." Mitsuru smiled at the pet name loosening her hold so Kikuno could flip sides and lay facing her. Once facing the taller woman Kikuno threw her arms around her to hug back. The sun hit the ring causing a glare to hit her right in the face making her flinch.
Kikuno's eyes widened her lips parted slightly in disbelief as she brought the hand closer to her face. Her fingers hesitatingly ran over the ring as if unsure it was real. A few seconds of pure shock then unbridled joy flashed on her face. Mitsuru could've sworn she saw her lover's eyes become glossy before she blinked it away rapidly. Finally she laughed. "I don't remember falling asleep with a ring on my finger. And I remember -everything- that happened yesterday night." She emphasize with amusement. "Is there something you wish to say to me?"
It was worth it to propose this way. Going all out to make sure Kikuno fell asleep before slipping the ring on her digit. Mitsuru's lips twitched upwards trying to appear nonchalant. "I merely took what I wanted for my birthday." Kikuno wanted to tease and try to make her fidget. She took a breath and scooted closer. "Will you marry me?"
"Of—" Kikuno shivered, a ghosting hand trailed down her side towards her hip. Mitsuru even knew exactly how to propose to. Accidentally overhearing a 'girl talk' type conversation Kikuno was having with Yukari. Her perfect proposal was followed to the T. 'I don't need someone to plan a special date or anything. Just in the afterglow of the throes of passion would be prefect enough.' "—of course. I figured that would be implicit when we started getting physically intimate with each other. I wouldn't share my body with someone I wasn't going to share my life with."
"I'd rather it be explicit." Mitsuru wanted everyone to see the ring and know that this special woman was hers; it was concrete proof.
"It's explicit, then." Her fingers tangled into the red locks pulling her closer to connect their lips once more. The heiress wasn't worried about being rejected; they were more than ready for the next step in their relationship. She just wanted it to be a memorable and wonderful surprise; something to look back on fondly. Mitsuru's arms wrapped around her back, she pulled the smaller woman on top of her. Chest to chest, legs entwined, Kikuno's head tucked into the small of her neck. Silently basking in the presences of the other.
"Thank you for the flowers. I had a wonderful birthday with you."
Kikuno closed her eyes her expression warm as if remembering something. "Thank you for being born." She spoke routinely. Every year even before they became a couple the maid gave her the same thing. A vase of Bellflowers while voicing a simple sentence 'thank you for being born.'
She knew why Kikuno acted this way. It was something Mitsuru did when visiting her in the hospital. There first birthday together, it was probably Kikuno's first celebrated birthday period. It was something the redhead often heard from her mother on her birthday. So she just naturally said it to others she was close to. Mitsuru wasn't expecting her friend to start crying over her words or the slice of cake she bought. Slight panic had hit the little heiress so she pulled the child close and let her cry hoping it was comforting to her. A few days later Kikuno was discharged and began her new life with the Kirijo family.
It was a sweet memory. As for the flowers she recently learned why they were always Bellflowers. Carefully she reached up and plucked one of the flowers leaving a bit of stem. The movement lightly jostled the assistant's curiosity as she lifted her head to watch. Mitsuru brushed a strand of Kikuno's silky hair out of the way and hooked the flower behind her ear. Well, they quickly became one of her favorite type of flower. This species of bellflowers had light blueish purple petals had a nice contrast to Kikuno's hair. "You know, I can speak multiple languages but flower isn't one of them."
Bellflowers: unwavering love.
Her hand caressed her earlobe before trailing down her cheek and jaw. Kikuno grabbed the wondering hand wanting to entwine their fingers, leaning in. The redhead could taste there shared breath as they pressed together. She couldn't get enough of it as sparks ignited in her chest. Before the sparks could become flames and settle into the pit of her belly. She spoke up. "Where do you want to get married?" The redhead didn't really want to bring it up immediately but once they got back to work they wouldn't be enough time.
"I don't need anything extravagant. I don't think we should spend months trying to reserve a venue. It would be better just to elope. Something small, you only want your mother and the shadow operatives to attend anyway." Not to mention to simple get hitched without the majority of the Kirijo group knowing sounded rather enticing. They didn't have any real control over Mitsuru anyway. So why not get married in secret? On the off chance they do find out then there loud barking could just be ignored.
"They would certainly throw a hissy fit wouldn't they?" There was slight exasperation in the tone of the redhead's voice. While the disapproval of people she barely recognized didn't mean much. However, it was possible they could somehow ruin it... Still she was sure that some would support her. Such as Yukari's mother on the Foundation Council and Takadera on the Board of Director would be enough to silence any of the distance family members.
There was a slight pensive look on the attendant's face. "You just proposed. I'd rather not think about the logistic right now while we're still in bed and the rush of dopamine is still surfing through my body. We have three days off so I want you to focus only on me." Planning could be done later; surely it wouldn't be that hard to schedule something between operations. There was something else she wanted to do with their time together.
"My apologies, I'll make it up to you." Kikuno had a point, why ruin the morning. Now wasn't the time to be thinking of other people when her fiancée was half on top of her body. "Allow me to shower you wax poetry till you're satisfied."
"Save it for our vows. I rather your mouth do something else now." The maid spoke in a whispered husky voice. "Cling to me and allow me to fully pay you back for yesterday." Mitsuru felt the hungry tone reverberate throughout her spine. Mitsuru swallowed hard feeling the twinge of anticipation. The maid began to kiss her furiously, wasting no time picking up where they had left off before. The blood in her veins picked up speed till she could no longer focus on anything other than her partner. Her legs parted subconscious inviting Kikuno to settle between them.
"No more talking unless you're panting my name." Her touch ghosted over her stomach.
"No more talking." The empress agreed; the only sounds escaping her throat were cries of pleasure as delicate aching flesh was masterfully explored. Sensory overload caused her to lose the ability to speak entirely the longer they continued. And for the next twenty minutes Mitsuru was reduced to only cries and whimpers.
