Minutes ago, as people ran and buildings fell, up in the sky a single human observed what was happening below. Hanging on tight, feeling the wind rush past his face and going through clouds, Tokiomi Tohsaka felt his stomach drop. His eyes twitching at what he saw below, at the absurdity of it all. It felt so unreal that the man pondered if he's in a dream.
Or a nightmare.
"We've arrived." How good that would be, if it were true. Reality said otherwise, with Tokiomi breathing in while also doing his best not to realize just how high in the sky he is. Focusing on the problem at hand and the catastrophe that'll come.
"Thank you." Giving his gratitude, Tokiomi thanked Archer before looking back down. Witnessing what could only be described as a futuristic war machine piloted by no doubt a Servant. A Noble Phantasm if he's ever seen one.
"Don't give your thanks yet." Archer may have brought Tokiomi on his request, but that was all she did. She had yet to do anything to stop this machine from continuing its attack on the city. "If anything, the real problem has just begun."
"I can't deny that, I suppose." Much as he desired this was all a nightmare, Tokiomi has no choice but to face the facts. The rules of the Holy Grail have been shattered. A Servant revealing themselves and their power against the public and the secrecy of magecraft itself. The Clock Tower will soon know about this, bringing their Enforcers and other high ranking magus to deal with everyone involved.
'Even if I had nothing to do with this, I will still be held responsible in some capacity.' He's the Second Owner after all. With such privilege came responsibilities. Responsibilities he sometimes shared with close allies for more efficiency. Doing his absolute best to secure his territory and prevent anything from going wrong.
That turned out so well, didn't it?
"Just where is Ruler?" She should be dealing with this situation. A rogue Servant and Master clearly went against the sanctum of the Holy Grail War. All it would take is a single Command Seal to end this offense and finish it. So either Ruler is on her way, or something has occurred.
As Tokiomi held onto Archer's back so he wouldn't fall, the Master of Archer came to a decision. One he hoped would work out, disinclined in doing nothing as the situation deteriorated further and further from the ideal. Action is required.
"Archer."
"Yes?"
"I…Can your 'other' deal with this?" Saying his words carefully, Tokiomi had an idea. It wasn't the most subtle, nor will this suddenly make his position in front of the Clock Tower Lords any better, but it was something that could help.
"An attack, I assume." Tokiomi nodded at Archer's words. "True, Blue-Eyes is more than capable of annihilating the works of man. Especially when they're turned against her." Cannons. Ships. Armor. It didn't matter how well-made or durable these creations are, all fell against the fury of White Lightning.
"Then," While Tokiomi still felt he shouldn't have to ask, as he is a Master, now isn't the time for pride and honor. The situation won't get better if he acts as he did before. So, "May…May you please ask Blue-Eyes if she will help?" Sucking in thoughts that said he should just force them, Tokiomi held on.
"Mmm." Archer looked away, patting Blue-Eyes in the back. "While I'm grateful you asked, such a request shouldn't go to myself. I have no power." She was defended all her life. She wasn't superior to anybody when it came to a battle. In combat. "If you wish to ask for help, ask her."
Tokiomi didn't expect this. Then again, maybe he should have. His encounter within the mindscape made it very clear that Blue-Eyes wasn't some beast that could be ordered with a snap of a finger or even through a command spell. No. She is a dragon that could think, feel, and get along with humans in general.
Just as some dragons were vicious or full of vain, others are benevolent and wise. Stories of dragons who gifted mankind with their knowledge are well-known in the eastern part of the world. Where some have worked alongside humanity simply if the people in question asked for their help with honor.
For Tokiomi, he couldn't deny that maybe a part of him still saw Blue-Eyes as nothing more but a beast of burden. A creature tamed by Archer, even if he already knew the truth. One's prejudice and personal views that they'd been taught all their life are more difficult to shake, even when proven otherwise.
"I…I apologize." It was best Tokiomi pushed past that, if only for the city's sake which included his own life. "Erm, Blue-Eyes." As he called out for the dragon, he saw its head turn toward him with its blue eyes observing him. "May you…help out…please."
He wasn't used to asking for help. Unless it's a difficult problem, Tokiomi could usually handle most difficulties on his own or simply ask any allies he has for an assist. So it's rather awkward to ask a dragon for their aid, who could easily refuse his demands.
"Gruagh." Blue-Eyes turned its head and looked down.
"She agreed." Filled with relief at Archer's words, Tokiomi felt he could see the light at the end of the tunnel. He already saw what Blue-Eyes could do before. Combined with the fact that dragons are powerful phantasmals that put most mystics to shame, it felt as if victory was already assured.
"Ugh!" His stomach flipped when he felt Blue-Eyes fly higher. The city, which already looked small, looked even smaller as they passed by a few clouds where not even birds could be seen. Ignoring height, Tokiomi realized what the dragon was doing. Keeping itself hidden.
"We shouldn't be so easily spotted now." Even Archer didn't wish to disrespect the rules. "Blue-Eyes can attack and nobody will see her."
"Can she strike at this range?" Tokiomi sounded incredulous.
"Of course she can." There wasn't any uncertainty in Archer's voice. Blue-Eyes roaring in agreement. "And no need to worry about the range. Blue-Eyes has very good eye-sight."
"Well…if you say so." With the power he saw, Tokiomi could at least accept that a direct hit would indeed harm, if not destroy, the Servant in question. But considering the power unleashed… Tokiomi recalled the incident at the park.
Breathing in, Tokiomi looks at his sole remaining hand. The one with Command Seals.
He has three.
'I only need one, and in this type of situation, I shouldn't be stingy.' Holding back would be foolish. If he truly wanted to take responsibility, then he should use what he has at his disposal. "Archer," So without waiting any further, Tokiomi gave his command. "You and Blue-Eyes will destroy the Servant." From his hand a Command Seal flashed and vanished away.
Archer and Blue-Eyes felt great mana filling inside them. Not only would this enhance their strength, but it would also ensure their attacks won't put as much strain on Tokiomi as last time.
"Thank you." Such an action deserved praise, Archer conceding to that.
"As long as you destroy the Servant, I need no thanks." As Blue-Eyes got into position, aiming her open maw to fire, Tokiomi then found himself the urge to ask Archer something. Perhaps he was nervous, a last minute worry, making him ask out of reflex before they fought.
So from nowhere, Tokiomi asked, "Why do you call it-her Blue-Eyes White Dragon? Aren't her scales blue?"
"..." The second he asked the question, Tokiomi felt the urge to slap himself. What was he thinking?! Asking such an idiotic thing before battle, he should slap his forehead with his one good palm. Only relenting from doing so since he needed one hand wrapped around Archer's waist and not fall off.
"That…" Tokiomi then noticed that Archer's ears look a bit red. Her head turned revealing even her cheeks had a small shade of the same color, looking bashful at his question. She coughed. "Um, yes, that." Her eyes refused to meet his. "You see…it's suggested that the first maiden summoned a dragon of white scales and blue eyes."
Tokiomi didn't miss that single word she mentioned in her sentence. "Suggested?"
"I mean, there might have been a chance the first dragon was white." She didn't sound confident. If anything, she seemed rather indecisive in speaking of what should be a historical moment in her home's history. "Though, truthfully…after the first maiden and her dragon, it became a tradition to call all other dragons as the first title, so…"
"Ah, I see." Tradition. While Tokiomi is a believer in such notions, the magus couldn't deny that at times, traditions could be either warped, forgotten, or stagnate. For Archer's case, involving her dragon's name, it just happened to stick with safe assumptions that nobody had the idea (or courage) in admitting they should change the title out of tradition itself.
"Ruagh!" Any further talk is interrupted when Blue-Eyes finally decided it was time.
"Hold tight. This might get bumpy." Tokiomi listens and leans down onto Archer's back. A bit glad his wife couldn't see this, as he didn't want any misunderstandings between them.
It was a good thing he did listen, the two riders feeling Blue-Eyes shift her body and raising her head high. Her mouth opened and revealed not just all her sharp and numerous teeth that could pierce even the sturdiest of Servants, but was now forming a ball of blue electricity that escaped her throat.
"Blue-Eyes! Burst Stream of Destruction!" With a shout, Blue-Eyes shot her head down and on Archer's command, a beam of blue light bursted out and was sent downward towards where the giant machine was rampaging at.
Tokiomi, despite having used a Command Seal, still felt a bit drained as he realized just how strong the attack was. It could obliterate an entire row of buildings and vaporize them without a problem, let alone a rogue Servant and their Noble Phantasm. If anybody looked up, they would see an attack akin to a falling star as it made its way down without problem.
If only it had ended then and there.
With the sound of air exploding, even from this distance Tokiomi then saw the machine move. More specifically, a floating piece of metal that immediately covered the top of the machine itself. Being so far up meant it was tricky to see the exact details happening below, even when he enhanced his eye-sight through magecraft.
"Damn." Still, even with that limitation he recognized a shield when he saw one. One that not only protected the massive machine but also allowed it to survive.
Because of the distance, neither he or Archer could tell just what response the Servant would have.
"Potential counter-attack from Karma. Preparing immediate combat response." With the faceplate of Zeke looking up, unlike normal human limitations, Zeke was able to fully spot and identify the exact area where the attack came from. Roze's hud reveals some kind of unidentified flying object that wasn't registered in its database.
It didn't appear like any normal machine Karma had.
[Reviewing data file…Done.]
[Karma Sky Strike - Raye - support weapons identified.]
However, Roze did explicitly remember Raye using support items that took the shape of animals. Dogs. Birds. They gave her assistance during battle.
[Activating offensive weapons.]
Whether this is a strangely designed Karma weapon or not, it didn't really matter as the AI in Zeke immediately had Roze activate the Noble Phantasm's weapon systems. With a growl, from below Zeke's armaments revealed themselves. With a simple command, countless missiles shot out and flew towards their intended target, the flying object.
"Die!" Roze shouted from within Zeke as the missiles made their way up to their target. Locked onto them where they would explode upon impact, flying at speeds comparable to a fighter jet. After all, Zeke had been designed to face someone who was much faster.
Back up above, in the clouds, all three saw the missiles coming right at them. While Tokiomi certainly didn't bother with the advancements that the ordinary world made, it wasn't as if he's blind to the dangerous weapons the military had at their disposal. As for Archer, thanks to the Grail she knew what was coming.
"Blue-Eyes!"
"Ruagh!" Energy once more formed in Blue-Eyes' maw and from there, short but deadly bursts of energy escaped Blue-Eyes' throat and flew down. The first shot obliterated a single missile where upon destruction, the missiles closest to it also exploded. But there were still more missiles incoming.
With a flap of her wings, Blue-Eyes flew in away so she was not hit by the enemy's missiles while also firing back as she did previously. Destroying any missiles that got close that would endanger her human-half and the other human riding on her.
Anybody watching would see blue flashes of light followed by explosions up in the sky. Where some would come under the belief that, combined with the few who heard what Zeke, that someone is fighting against the unknown terrorist.
"This is our chance." Both Saber and Waver knew otherwise, the young Master now seeing an opportunity. "Saber, while it's distracted, let's attack it."
"Understood." In normal circumstances, Saber was unlikely to win against Rider and her Noble Phantasm. But now that she's distracted…
"Let's go!" Grabbing Waver, Saber leapt over to the next rooftop across from them, then another and another. With Rider distracted by whatever Servant is attacking her, it no longer bothered registering Saber as a threat. Good.
The two made their way and got closer to their target. As they did so, Waver decided to ask a question before it's too late. "Saber. You said you had a trick. Care to explain."
"Gladly." Rider continued to fire missiles above without even noticing them. Too focused on destroying whoever is attacking her, occasionally moving around whenever a short blue beam of light attempts to damage her machine. The shield looked more and more damaged with each hit it took.
"I have a Noble Phantasm that isn't necessarily powerful, in terms of damage, but very useful all the same."
"And that is?"
"I think it's better if you see it in action." Saber grinned. "The most I'll say is that it's the one Noble Phantasm that gives me pride. A reminder that I'm not alone, even in the field of war."
"Not alone?" Now Waver is more interested. What kind of Noble Phantasm was this? Admittingly, he could use his status as a Master and view it himself, but it felt rather insulting if he did that when his Servant was willing to already show it. Plus, he wanted to trust Saber's words.
"Signature targets in range."
Assuming Saber even had a chance. Once the two landed in the ruined open area where buildings had fallen under the might of Zeke's blade, without even looking down, Zeke spoke aloud. It continued firing missiles and subtly moving around at the target above, but its words made it clear Rider knew they were here.
Its sword is then lifted up and aimed in their path. Its advanced radar technology giving it the precise location on where they were in Zeke's range.
"Shit!" The two men cried as they realized what would happen. Saber immediately prepared to throw Waver at the side, only for the blade to come falling down with an arc of wind bursting out and coming right at them. It would obliterate them without leaving a trace of their existence. Made worse when following the arc of wind, heavy-weight discs with serrations tips at their end came alongside the sword's attack.
If the wind didn't get them, the saw-like blades will.
"I got you!" Only for a light voice sounding off with the figure of a small person coming from nowhere. She stood in front of Saber and Waver and took the arc of wind's attack. With a slam, dirt and dust rushed past the two men while the blades slammed themselves into their protector only to fall helplessly on the ground.
Closing their eyes as the dust whipped around them, once it settled the two opened them and saw their protector. Ruler.
"Ruler!" Crying her name out, Waver got off of Saber's hands and called her attention. "Your-your alright!" That kind of attack would have killed even a Servant. Or if not that, then heavily injured them.
"I'm good." Ruler didn't even look the slightest injured. "That first attack nearly got me, but I'm alright." First attack? Didn't she mean the attack she took now? Before Waver could ask to clarify, Zeke's voice spoke up.
"Re-applying battle tactic." Zeke at last noticed Ruler, who should have been gone already. It's impossible that she escaped the first blow unscathed.
Which normally would be true. Except…
The sword slammed where Ruler was and a white light lit up the surrounding area. The ground cracked in half from the force of the blow and when the light settled, all that's left is Zeke and a destroyed mall.
However…
"Dogmatika Call!" Just mere milliseconds before the blade had even swung down at her, Ruler had unleashed her Noble Phantasm. The power to call anybody within the Dogmatika order, if they wished to help her or come on out.
"Haha." A man with long blades known as Dogmatika Ashiyan then came out, a chuckle coming from behind his mask. "To think that yo-" Whatever Ashiyan had to say, Ruler didn't care.
Because she kicked the bastard forward, then ran to the right.
"Eh?" The sword then slammed down on him and banished him from this world before he could say anything else.
'I never did like that guy.' Ruler thought, recalling the crimes the man did in life. As such, she had no problems summoning him as a meat shield. But his sacrifice wasn't in vain, as it allowed her to escape from Zeke's attack.
An attack that needed to be corrected from such an oversight. This time Zeke launched missiles along with more of the bladed discs. Another attempt in seeing if maybe it could wipe out Ruler while still defending itself from the attacks above it.
"Hehe. Won't work." With a grin, Ruler simply stood where she was, not moving an inch to dodge the missiles and blades slammed into her, the missiles exploding, thus preventing Saber and Waver from being able to tell if she was alright. Quite frankly, both were shocked at not just her boldness, but how she didn't even attempt any form of defense or utilize a protective stratagem.
Then again, she didn't even need to.
"Hah!" From the smoke where the missiles had exploded, Ruler came out as fine as day with her war hammer appearing.
This time, Rider looked down with a snarl as she realized Zeke's attack had done nothing. Forcing Zeke to lift the blade, the weapon attempted to slice Ruler in half for her insolence in attacking Rider.
Ruler only lifted her war hammer, not looking the slightest worry. Her reasons were good, as when the massive blade made contact, instead of slicing the war hammer and its owner, it instead found itself stopping where no amount of force could move it down any further. At most, Ruler only felt the weight of the blade's momentum cause the ground below her to crack and her muscles feeling a bit winded.
"Incredible." Saber could only feel awe at how Ruler survived.
"How?" Waver just wanted to know the reason for how Ruler managed it.
"Guh!" All while Rider growled while split in what to prioritize. The attack from above, or the one in front of her. Becoming indecisive at what course of action she should take, it cost her dearly.
"Now!" Even if Rider couldn't hear the voice from above, Blue-Eyes heard Archer's words and fired perfectly down. No more missiles bothering her with the blue beam of destructive light coming down full force.
"Nuh!" Immediately Rider had Zeke have the shield positioned and protect her from the attack. The beam of light once more slammed into the shield, only now those on the ground can visibly see the strain the shield is experiencing. If anything, it was amazing enough that it even lasted against such a strike in the first place, no matter how well-made it was. The only reason it wasn't destroyed the first time was that Blue-Eyes was attacking from so far up that some of the force of the blasts she unleashed had lessened after finally reaching Rider.
Not that it mattered to Ruler, who finally saw her chance.
"Rider!" Ruler called out, no longer playing around and lifting her right arm, her left holding onto her weapon. Behind her, Waver sensed Ruler's magical energy rise while recognizing what it was. "By this Command Seal, kill yourself." A Command Seal. The absolute command on any Servant, no matter how strong-willed they are.
Even if she's being brainwashed, her words will reach Rider. While a bit distasteful that Ruler had to do this, the Servant knew she had no choice in this matter. Whether Rider did this willingly or was forced, she had already toppled countless buildings and took many lives. And while her Noble Phantasm may not be something that would reveal magecraft in a traditional sense, it still risked it in general.
So a Command Seal will be used. There can be no doubts about it. Perhaps if Ruler had been summoned as her 'other-self', one who isn't a Ruler, she might have employed another option.
"Good-bye." Here and now, Ruler didn't seek any such alternatives. A Command Seal flashes away, as she feels the power of her order make its way into Rider's mind whose eyes bulge at the command.
"Ruuuu!" Zeke then lunged forward the second the blue light ceased. The shield crumbled from Blue-Eyes's attack, but now it would take a few seconds before Blue-Eyes could strike again. Over a dozen missiles were launched up into the air while Rider had Zeke attack Ruler with its blade.
"Huh?" Ruler barely had the time to react as she adjusted her weapon which took the force of the blow and sent her into the nearest building and even further after she blew past the building's walls.
Leaving Saber and Waver stunned at what they witnessed. A dawning horror birthed as they realized that Ruler, someone who could end a Holy Grail if she chose to, had been swatted away like a fly.
"No way." Waver heard Ruler loud and clear. She commanded Rider with a Command Seal as clear as day, ordering Rider's own death. Suicide. But Rider…She ignored it. How did she manage that?
Saber gulped, but kept his eyes on Rider. Something was off. Wrong, even. Did Rider's strange weapon, her Noble Phantasm, allow some form of mental defense? An ability that protected her from being commanded? Well, he supposed it didn't matter now.
"Targeting."
Since Rider is now coming for him.
"Master! Stay back!" He still had time. As the machine loomed over him, readying its blade, he saw his Master falling back. While Rider would clearly try and kill them both, Saber had a feeling she would target him first, the Servant.
As Saber readied his final and greatest Noble Phantasm, he then felt his body warm up. Magical energy surging through him, all followed by a single voice. A single command.
"Saber!" Not looking away, Waver made his declaration clear. His hand raised and shining brightly, as not one, not even two, but all three Command Seals shone. Perhaps it might be a waste, but Waver wasn't going to hold back. He won't let Saber hold back. Saber may have claimed he only had a trick, but Waver was willing to put that to the test.
"By these Command Seals, WIN!"
As the mana from the Command Seals flooded him, Saber smiled.
"I will." Rider is upon him. Her eyes showed a hazed anger as she looked at him. An impulse to kill him, yet an equal aspiration of confliction. Like she didn't want to kill him.
'Sorry, Rider.' Seeing her expression made Saber wonder if perhaps Rider truly wasn't in control. 'But I can't let you kill me, or Waver.' Such feelings were then pushed aside.
"Noble Phantasm!" After all, if he died, then Waver was next. And that wasn't something he would allow. Not one bit.
"Diee!" Rider roared as she swung her blade down. It was fast. Very fast.
But to Saber, he's seen faster. 'On the field of war, when all fall and collapse, even on the verge of defeat, together all rise and see from behind-'
"Reinforcement of the Army's Troops!" His body shone as brightly as the Command Seals did before. Memories came to the foremost of his mind, of the days he walked into the battlefield. Where once, he fought on his own. For it had been every soldier for themselves when fighting against whoever was in front of them.
The tyrant who commanded them cared little for teamwork. Just results.
Yet on that one day, after so many battles, when Saber found himself running where he knew his comrades were at…
He wasn't alone.
Zeke's blade at last hit someone. Rider, in her maddened state, found herself grinning as her eyes twitched. Believing that with Saber gone, she could now focus entirely on the enemy in the sky. Leave the weak, pathetic human Master for later. Zeke moved to adjust its position, the blade coming with it.
Rider found that Zeke wasn't moving as it should.
Blinking, Rider looked down, wondering if perhaps the blade had lodged itself into the ground. She had swung it rather hard. Using more strength than necessary against Saber, who she easily killed.
"...Eh?" So it came as a surprise when she saw not her blade stuck in the dirt but instead someone else altogether.
A beast of some kind. Taller than a human, having bulging muscles and had a toothy grin on its face. It's hands on both sides of the flat edge of her own blade, holding it in place. Rider was taken aback. Where did this thing come from?
It was only then she realized that Saber was actually still alive, grinning as wide as the creature. Breathing heavily as he turned to the creature and said, "Thanks for the assist, Gagagigo." The creature grunted, yet Saber wasn't finished speaking.
"And thank you, everyone else."
"Then maybe get us a drink later. Well, assuming we even can." At that moment the hud attached on Rider's helmet began blinking wildly. Suddenly, multiple energy signatures were being registered. What had been one dot in front of her had risen to two. Then three. Then four. Rapidly climbing with numerous dots all around her.
While the brainwashing aspect of Zeke certainly cost Rider parts of her sanity, with the addition of aggression, it didn't make her stupid. Turning her head, it was then Rider suddenly saw what was around her. Ruined buildings. Pieces of rubble cut cleanly with overturned cars, wrecked shops, and the bodies of many people with debris atop of them.
With soldiers surrounding her with disgruntled expressions that had armor with swords, axes, and spears by their side. Strange creatures with green skin wearing armor like Saber with their own blades. A woman is also spotted next to Saber and the creature, who wore a brown tattered cape and a green outfit which exposed her midriff and a small skirt with a born hat atop her head. A male with blonde hair like Saber comes up from behind her.
"I agree with her, oh good captain." The blonde man chuckled. "Really. Summoning us to fight some kind of machine-thing. Yeesh. We never had to face this type of weapon back home."
"Speak for yourself." The woman placed a hand on her hip. "The Different Dimension has loads of things like this." She paused. "Mm, kinda. Does look more advanced than what I've seen, I'll give it that."
"Hehe, I apologize." Saber said as he slowly got up. "But as you can see, I cannot win on my own. Which is why-"
"Ah, ah." The blonde man held his hand, stopping Saber from speaking any further. "If you truly are in need of help, then you need not ask." He placed his hand on Saber's shoulder. "We're here for you."
"I've been itching for a fight anyway." The woman agreed. Taking out the blade from the sheath tied behind her. "Shame I can't get rid of her like my older-self, but whatever." Plus, it would be fun having a battle than making a single attack only for her and whoever she fought vanishing away.
The lizard-creature grunted in satisfaction, then tugged as hard as it could, causing Zeke's grip to loosen and let go of the blade where the creatures tossed it onto the ground and then got into a battle-position. Giving a wild smile that showed off its teeth. Relishing the idea of battling Rider.
"Ugh!" Gritting her teeth, Rider pulled Zeke up and only now realized the situation she's in.
All around her the various soldiers and green-skinned creatures - Goblins - lifted their own weapons. Some looked worried, others determined, a few scared. Yet all had the same look in their eyes, a resolve that wouldn't let them give in. It would be dishonorable for them if they gave up before the man who asked for their help. Insulting him and themselves.
It didn't matter if they were facing a woman in a machine more advanced than anything they faced, let alone challenged. Because if their friend Saber, the Marauding Captain, was willing to stand by them even when he didn't have to in the most troublesome of days they had, there was no reason they shouldn't either.
It was an action that warmed Saber's heart as he took out both his blades. "Hahhah! Thank you, Master." If Waver hadn't given him this much mana, he would have only been able to summon just the normal soldiers. But with this, the situation is different. "Seems we have a chance now. Comrades! Charge!"
As one all the soldiers, the goblins, and precious friends in the form of Freed, Warrior Lady of the Wasteland, and Gagagigo made their way towards Rider. Who, deprived of Zeke's sword, with none but herself to face a small army, caused the brainwashed Servant to grip her head as messages flooded her mind on what she should do.
"Uhnnn!" With a scream, the only action she could take and see was just killing them all. Outright forgetting about the attacker in the sky, Rider focused instead on all the enemies around her and from below Zeke launched countless missiles and serrated discs at everyone.
The area becomes full of explosions, screams, and even roars.
Meanwhile, watching from a safe distance, ensuring he couldn't be caught in the crossfire, Waver watched with awe as he bore the visage of countless loyal people helping Saber face-off against Rider. It was rather inspiring, seeing that a single Saber, with little strength and renown, is supported by those who weren't any stronger than their summoner, yet reinforced him all the same. Even monsters were helping him. From the goblins in cheap blonde wigs, to a lizard monster that he was pretty sure is called Gagagigo, Saber's friend.
And maybe, what made this more incredible is that the ones fighting weren't even those who'd be considered famous in history. Instead, from the view Waver is seeing, it was just ordinary soldiers with no special powers fighting. Because that's what they were.
Not a single one of these people, with the exception of three, qualified as Servants. They were simple soldiers with average strength no different from any other army in the world of man. If anything, as the missiles fell upon them and discs sliced them in half, the humans here knew they would likely die. Especially to a foe this mighty.
But if Saber, the Marauding Captain, was willing to enter a fray with little chance of survival, then why not them? After all, for as weak as Saber had been back home, he was someone who managed to convince countless soldiers through simple words and charisma to join him and reinforce the main army back when they were all alive. Even if it meant Saber once more put himself at risk of dying on the field.
They wouldn't hold him back.
"What in the world?" At the same time, Tokiomi, Archer, and Blue-Eyes could see the battle below. From nowhere, countless men and a few creatures had appeared from thin air and were now joining against the assault on the enemy Servant.
Normally, such a thing might have made Tokiomi happy.
'I can't tell if this is good or worse.' But to the magus, he could only feel anxious. While the details are difficult to pick out, it's clear that people would become suspicious by the help that arrived. The soldiers were one thing, the green-skinned ones are another matter entirely. While a part of him understood that whoever called this makeshift army was likely done in order to stop Rider, it did little in concealing magecraft as a whole.
'Unless…' They were all wiped out at once.
They were distracted. The rogue Servant wasn't even attacking them anymore, more focused on the small army around her. Plus, any news chopper that could expose the army below are keeping their distance away still. Meaning if Blue-Eyes struck now, all evidence could be wiped. Without the shield the rogue Servant alongside this army will be wiped.
'All I need is one more Command Seal to empower the dragon's blast to finish the job.' Then all the current problems would be vaporized.
Just one command is all it took. One that needed to be said now rather than later. Opening his mouth, Tokiomi was about to give his order.
Shiiing.
Only for something small and fast to come and pierce directly into Blue-Eyes' left wing.
"Ruaaaa!" With a shriek, Blue-Eyes began falling from the sky. Unable to move her left wing as something is lodged into it. Before gravity took hold, Tokiomi turned and saw that piercing directly beneath the wing is a spear.
'That's…' A spear he recalled Lancer showing him once.
"Hagn on!" Tokiomi immediately latched onto Archer even tighter while the Servant screamed out to him. All three falling down just under maximum velocity into the city below.
"Haha. Finally." While waiting with a lick of his lips, Kariya gave a rather maniacal grin as his target fell. Appreciating how that priest guy gave 'Berserker' a weapon that she could throw up into the heavens where Tokiomi blindly thought he belonged. As if he was some God.
Such a shame the devil decided to force the wannabe God from his place among the heavens and down into the ground with him, bringing the bastard where he belonged. It would be so nice if Tokiomi died, yet another part of Kariya hoped the man lived. After all, if Tokiomi lives, then Kariya can deal with him personally.
"Come on 'Berserker'." Kariya called out to his Servant, ignoring the sounds of battle coming from Rider and whatever she's facing. "We have a weasel to catch."
Oh Kariya. Can't tell if I should thank him for stopping Tokiomi from killing everyone, including poor Saber and his allies, or believe he's making this worse by allowing Rider to rampage just so he could continue his grudge against Tokiomi.
And hey, Ruler is good and well. She just used Dogmatika Ashiyan as a shield to escape, sending the poor dude who knows where. But considering he betrayed the people and worked for a monster, no sympathy for him. And hope you enjoyed the guest stars Saber summoned.
