Traveling in this world of gargoyles was interesting as flying in a plane did exist still in this world where everyone was a gargoyle. However, it was limited to one side of the globe at a time. No flight went around the world at least none that were commercial flights. That was considered to be crazy as no gargoyle would want to risk their life on a commercial airline that flew into the side of the world that was experiencing daylight exposing them to the sun and thus turning them to stone. After all, there would be no one to fly the plane properly if they turned to stone and no one to help them land it at the airport when they needed to land.
Children of Oberon might still exist in this world however they remain mostly hidden from the general public after all as gargoyles have taken the place of humans as the dominant species on the planet but it was more like human history was altered to viewed as if everyone was always a gargoyle. So again it was gargoyles being adapted into what was originally human history rather than humans being adapted into what was original gargoyles.
So all commercial flights only went as far as what was now known as the International Sun Line. It was different than the International Date Line which at that point where when crossing it would become the following day. Thus one side of the line it could be Sunday while on the other it would be Monday. Unlike the International Date Line which is always in just a single plane at all times. The International Sun Line was always changing cause its the imaginary line on Earth's surface defining the boundary between sunrise and sunset. Thus dictating to a gargoyle when they would enter their stone sleep.
That was also vastly explored in this new world where gargoyles learned a lot about their stone sleep as having replaced humans as the dominant species of the planet they were now seven billion gargoyles on the planet at the moment and surely there was interest in global travel so discovering a workaround for being stone for half the day was a must.
Since as long as a gargoyle did not overwork themselves they did not seem to need traditional sleep and could remain activated all night long. What became the standard was setting one's time keeping device to the International Sun Line to avoid disasters and accidents from happening when turning to stone for the day.
Things were automated to various degrees thanks to the Industrial Revolution which allowed certain work to continue 24/7 even while a gargoyle was in their stone sleep. Before this reality Industrial Revolution, things would just come to a complete halt as it was common knowledge not to keep on going once the International Sun Line was drawing near for the day. Of course, there were exceptions for things like battles though if one was prolonged enough to not be halt for the day then it could be won or lost on how and when one turned to stone. There are many a battle in this reality's history book that was won and lost like this to the point where it was a tactic that could be used but frown upon one, however.
As for the modern day, things like traffic well cars would all just come to a stop as if one was caught in traffic as the International Sun Line( the ISL for short) was coming then they knew to stop. Sure some did not this caused a unique set of accidents for gargoyles that were considered sun related. Getting involved in sun related accident would result in several things if a gargoyle was shattered as a result of their reckless action then that gargoyle could be charged with murder or worse depending on the sun accident they cause.
Trains would stop as again no one would want to risk getting shattered on the commercial form of transportation. The same would go for travel across the bodies of water and most certainly the ocean. Travel across the ocean was far harder in this reality than it was original when humans were the dominant species on the planet instead of gargoyles. After all the ISL was something they could not get around thus it took to the Industrial Revolution and station built in the ocean itself to modern day waypoint where mere pitstops grew into legit countries, nations, and kingdoms of this world. Also gave birth to a type of gargoyle who lived their lives more by the ISL than any other kind of gargoyle as well seeing as to them working with and around it was their very way of life. One that kind of left them isolated to a degree as they were the unique kind that had a problem living anywhere else other than on another waypoint.
Thus international travel was never direct as a gargoyle always stopped at a waypoint to spend their stone sleep there before more onward to finishing crossing the ocean blue.
This was just how commercial travel was for gargoyles in this world as non commercial travel was different as a gargoyle could risk having a plane or a boat cross the ISL at any moment however they were rolling the dice with their own lives and most wanted it be so that only themselves and those that decided to do so were with them(It would basically be like a human trusting pilot or a captain to fly/sail something over open water while everyone including themselves was asleep. Thus no one would be awake to deal with any emergency that happens).
And thus travel across the globe was done in spurts as one would travel for just about eight hours on the first day depending on the type of travel they were doing. Then ten for every other day after that until they managed to get to where they were going. Thus a direct commercial flight to Scotland from Japan would be roughly a three day trip at the very least. Prep time would take up at least take up two to three hours with everyone arriving and boarding the flight before sitting on the plane for the ISL to pass over them and they all turn to stone for the day. The reasoning is that a gargoyle could not take a direct commercial flight from Scotland to Japan because there is not enough time for them to fly directly there without cutting it too close for comfort.
So the first day was them getting on the plane itself and waiting for sunrise so that they take off the moment they all awaken from their stone sleep for that day. Then they would fly for ten hours before stopping at a waypoint with an hour of prep time both for landing and taking off. Then finish the trip on the third day.
