Night knight
There's a soft melody playing in the background, yet everything Riko can hear is the clinking of the crystal glasses filling the air along with the loud and incessant chattering of the couple of men before her.
- As I was saying, princess Sakurauchi, my son is the perfect suitor for you and…
At some point in his speech, Riko disconnects from the ongoing conversation to try and find an escape as to why she should marry the son of the man in front of her and the benefits that said union could bring to both families and dynasties.
Soon, her answers are answered as a pair of deep magenta eyes meets hers and Riko can feel her heart skipping a beat at their intensity, knowing full well their owner will come to her rescue.
- Excuse me princess, but the queen requires your presence for a matter of great importance.
The blue haired knight approaching them says with a bow, a quick mischievous smirk flashing on her lips for a brief moment, before she goes back to her serious demeanor.
Riko can only smile apologetically at the couple of men before her, seeing them nodding in return as they finally shut up, before she happily accepts the hand her personal knight is offering her, seeing Yoshiko bringing it to her lips in a sign of respect.
Quickly, they rush out of the ballroom to dart through the quiet hallways of the palace until Yoshiko reaches a large door and opens it leading them inside the room behind it.
As soon as the door closes, darkness swallows them only being slight broken by the timid moonlight.
- Tell me, my night knight, where's the queen?
Riko asks aloud trying to discern in which part of the room both her mother, the queen, as well as her personal knight are, only hearing a quiet giggle in return.
- Nowhere Riri. I've thought it could be a good excuse to rescue you from those men.
Yoshiko, her personal knight and childhood friend replies making Riko giggle, before she feels the blue haired girl's warm hand taking hers to pull her towards the large window and see the moon shining brightly at the peak of the dark sky.
Another giggle escapes Riko's lips as she looks as her friend fondly, observing how the black colors of her uniform makes her blend perfectly with the darkness of the room and of the night, reminding her why the nickname of "night knight".
- Thank you, Yocchan.
Riko says grateful, seeing Yoshiko grinning as she takes a step closer and leaves another kiss on Riko's hand, making her blush at it.
- Anything for my dearest princess.
Yoshiko answers her solemnly, her deep magenta eyes piercing her soul, and Riko can only gasp, feeling her heart beating loudly against her chest, its heartbeat quickening as Yoshiko takes a step closer and circles her body with her free arm to pull their bodies closer.
Riko feels herself about to faint as the knight slowly shortens their distance, Yoshiko's breath ghosting over her lips making her close her eyes waiting for their lips to meet, before she hears a loud laugh filling the quietness of the night, darkness slowly fading away as she opens her eyes to see the pale pink of the ceiling of her bedroom.
- What…?
She asks aloud confused, sleepily, as she blinks a couple of times and sits up letting the manga that was resting open on her chest fall to the floor with the movement.
- Hahahaha, oh my god Riri, you should have seen yourself!
Yoshiko says loudly, holding her stomach while she keeps laughing tears peaking from her eyes, and Riko can only look at her with her eyes wide open, before she notices Yoshiko teasing her by imitating her with kissy lips.
The burgundy haired girl can only let out an undignified shriek as she covers her completely red face with both of her hands upon Yoshiko having witnessed how she was about to kiss her knight doppelganger.
- Y-Yocchan! What are you doing here!?
Riko exclaims completely mortified as she throws her pillow to the younger girl, hitting her right on the face.
- Your mother told me you were in your room so I've went upstairs.
The burgundy haired girl hears Yoshiko's laugh dying down as she tells her that, remembering she did in fact invited the younger girl a couple of days ago to spend some time together, silence settling between them, before Yoshiko breaks it.
- Was this what you were reading? Who were you supposed to kiss?
Yoshiko asks amused as she places Riko's pillow on her lap and takes the manga in her hands to take a quick look of it curious about who was Riko dreaming about, much to the older girl's embarrassment who can only quickly snatch the manga away from Yoshiko's hands.
- S-shut up!
Riko exclaims even more mortified than before, hearing Yoshiko giggling, before she notices her puckering her lips for a kiss.
- Y-Yocchan, idiot!
Riko squeals as she shoves Yoshiko's face away, standing to run out of her bedroom as her heart beats loudly and fast against her chest and her cheeks are colored in a deep red even though this Yoshiko is completely different from the brave night knight of her dreams.
Yoshiko can only laugh in exchange, before she runs downstairs to chase Riko through the house.
- Ririii, wait!
- No!
Yoshiko yells the burgundy haired girl's nickname playfully as more giggles from her and grumbles from Riko fill the house.
An older burgundy haired woman can't help but get out of the kitchen drying her hands in a cloth as she watches how cute and dork her daughter and her blue haired girlfriend can be, giggling at their antics, before she goes back to keep making dinner for the three of them.
