Here's the next chapter everyone. Lost In Language, but just a quick heads up there will be some major changes to this, but only a little bit. So either way, hope you all like this one.
Chapter 9
Lost in Language
Right now it was another calm day at the Owl House. No guards, no danger, nothing it was very pleasant.
And since they had the day to themselves, Evan decided it'd be a good time to catch up on some good reading material. So for most of the day in the living room he's been reading issue after issue of different manga's. He didn't care what they were, he was just having himself a good time.
Nearby Luz was giving King a little attention, by reading out loud one of her Azura books. He did his best to try and drown out the annoying cliche story, by thinking of other different things. But ultimately he was letting her have her fun.
" 'Azura!' Hecate Began. 'Our paths have crossed only in battle. But today I stand before you seeking an ally.' She closed the book and sighs in content.
" Luz, you're getting all swoony again. " King said.
" Yeah, what he said, it's that big of a deal. " Evan said as he slowly flipped through more pages. " You like those books just as much as you like magic. "
" I can't help it. Azura is able to befriend everyone. Even her biggest rival. I wish I had that kind of power. "
" Who? Like Amity? Good luck with that... " Evan said commented.
" Luz, rivals are meant to be annihilated not befriended. " King laid down some of his 'knowledge' before his tail started wagging. " Now keep reading. I've been sucked into your awful fandom. "
" Okay, King technically your right and half right. " Evan said as he finished what he was reading and started another keeping his eyes glued on the small comic. " Rivals come in many different forms, such as differences, mutual respect, and their goals. All in all it's all in a matter of perspective. In real life though, you can't just expect to someone to give you their friendship that easily.
" Why not? You and King did for me. " Evan paused at what he was reading and looked up to her. " That's because, I'm not one of those people. Like Amity for example, you ain't befriend her overnight. That's just a fact. " He went back to reading his favorite manga series.
" Yeah, but maybe we both have something in common with her. "
" Somehow doubt it. " He said in a bored expression.
" Well, I'm sure I can prove you wrong. " Luz said confidantly making Evan hum as he continued reading. " Mmhm. Yeah, okay, good luck with that. "
" Hey! Read more! " King demanded. " Okay. " Luz continued reading outloud much to the little demons delight and one eyed warlocks displeasure. " 'Suddenly the door swung open.' "
" Ding‐dong. Ding. Hoot! Hoot! " Much to their surprise, Hooty swung right open just as she said that taking them by surprise. " Whoa...freaky... " Evan commented.
" The book has come to life! Burn it! " The little canine said but Luz ignored it went over to the door to check.
" Hmm? " Luz looked down to see a basket of some sort sitting right in front of the door. " Luz? What's out there? " Evan called out.
" I think you and Eda got a package. " Luz replied as she closed the door grabbing Evan's interest as he made his manga float back into his room. " Were you expecting something? "
" Not that I know of...C'mon. " They headed into the kitchen. " Hey mom, you in here? "
" Yes I am! " The owl lady replied. " I think we got something. Looks like a gift basket. " Luz places it on the table while King climbed up to get a better look at it. " This was sitting in front of the door. "
" Probably an offering. " Eda guessed. " Ah! Being the most powerful witch in the Boiling Isles has its perks. "
" Define your view of 'perks'. " Evan air quoted while King tied a napkin around his neck. As he reached to pull the blanket down, they all peered down to see what was left for them. Once King pulled the blanket, there was a sleeping baby?
" Mm. Fresh meat. " King said excitedly and got bonked in the head by Evan. " No, not eating that. " Luz said walking away not wanting to be apart of what can transpire.
" Witches eating babies is so 1693. " Eda commented. " Yeah, and humans wondered why people back in Salem were all paranoid. " Evan said in a flat tone as he eyed the infant. " But still, please don't let this be like one of those moments where someone leaves their child for us to take care of them. "
" It better not be. " Eda said before King spoke up. " There's a note. " He tore it off and read what was written out loud: " Take care of my child till morning. Yi Yi."
" Nope. Babies are awful. Not happening. " Eda said earning a look from Evan. " Oh, not you though, you were an exception. " Evan hummed crossing his arms, having a hard time buying what she said.
" You'll be handsomely rewarded. X‐O‐X‐O‐X‐O‐X. Bat Queen." King read more of what the note said.
" Bat Queen? " Eda's attention was regained upon hearing the name. She then grew more interested as King brought out three gold coins. " Reward~?
" Who's the Bat Queen? " Luz asked coming back in overhearing the conversation.
" Just only the most wealthiest demon on the Boiling Isles itself. " Evan anwsered since he's heard of her. " That's right. Get in with her and you're set for life. " Eda added. " So, we keep this thing alive for a few hours and we get paid? " She flipped the coin and caught it. " Pfft. Easy. "
" Somehow I'm starting to wonder now how you even managed to raise me... " Evan said.
" Our greatest adventure yet! Learning about love and life through a child's eyes. " Luz said happily.
" Not you. " Eda spoke up. " You have to return the books I checked out from the library. " Eda made a spell circle causing two stacks of books to appear falling down and got caught by Luz and Evan.
" Wait what? Why do I have to go!? " The one eyed warlock questioned. " Because you clearly need to get out of the house and get some fresh air. " She whispered to King. " I don't want them getting a cut of the loot. "
" Good thinking. "
" I can hear you! " Evan snapped. " And just for that, you can forget me buying Apple Blood when I make my grocery runs! "
" Eh, it'll be fine. " Eda waved him off. " Now, let's take a look at this little darling. " Upon removing the blanket it was revealed the baby was a bat and it looked like she made a wrong move. Because the baby started screeching like crazy, and it was loud. Loud enough to shake the whole house.
" Oh, boy. " King said falling back onto his back.
" On second thought maybe we could use your help! " Eda yelled out as she covered her ears. " Well, we better get to the library! Got to go! Bye! " Luz made her way out the door with Evan followed suit.
" Evan wait! " He stopped and looked back." Your not gonna leave your mother like this are you!? " Evan only smirked as he slowly closed the door. This was his way of getting even. " No-no-no-no! Evan Clawthorne don't you da- " He closed the door.
" We got this right!? Whoa! " The baby flew out of the basket and into Eda's face.
" You sure Eda will be fine? " Luz asked as she and Evan arrived into town.
" Yeah, she somehow managed to raise me, so I think she'll do fine. " Evan replied as they passed by the big nose prisoner carrying a book that was even bigger then she was.
" So how come she's having us return these books for her? "
" That's because her libary cards been revoked until she pays her tab. " Evan explained. " Which she has not done yet. And up ahead, you'll see The Bonesburrow public library. " Up ahead of them was a pretty impressive and decent sized building that housed most likely thousands of books.
" Whoa! " Luz could already tell she was gonna like the place. " Is it anything like in Harry potter? "
" Magic wise yes, the rest, not to so much. " Evan said as he used his magic to open the door. He then whispered. " Also heads up, the guy manning the desk here's a dick. So watch out. "
As they entered inside the books they had were all floating out of their hands towards a guy at a counter with a bored expression on his face. Each book went through a green circle turning red with the word late above it as they disappeared while beeping. " Late. Late. " He grabbed the last book that was absorbed.
" Coffee, grass and bloodstains? " He turned to Evan. " These are your mothers aren't they? "
" Oh gee, what gave it away? The possible little bone fragments that are lodged into it? " Evan retorted with a deadpan stare.
" Heh, that was a crazy night. " Luz chuckled nervously.
" Don't remind me... " Evan groaned rubbing his temples.
The guy only sighed as he made a spell circle making a long scroll appear. " I'll put them on her tab. Honestly, how you're even related to her is beyond me. By the way, we're closing early for the Wailing star meteor shower. "
" Ooh. What's that? " Luz asked.
" You're in a library. " He said with a deadpan expression. " Read a book.
" We are in a library. So we will read a book! " With that said they rush off. " Shh! "
" Kiss my ass! " Evan whispered lowly as they walked away. As they went inside, they passed by a demon decimal system. As Evan walked by Luz kneeled down in front of them and looked around making sure no one else saw her put a gumdrop into one of the demons mouths. " Bloop! " He put it into one mouth. The decimal system chewed on the gumball before gagging up the number of cards it had.
Evan picked brought Luz back onto her feet. " Okay, Luz, listen, you mind if we make a quick detour? I need to check somethings. "
" Sure. What do you have in mind? "
" You'll see... " Evan before he spotted a librarian and two of them walked towards her. " Excuse me? " He got the librarian attention. " Would you mind pointing us in the right direction on where to find books that focus on curses and stuff? "
" That'd be in our upper section area. Dark Magic History. Second floor. " She replied pointing up.
" Thank you. " Evan got his anwser and so proceeded up to the said floor where he was directed to. He looked up at the signs of what he was looking for. " Beast Ecology, Herbs and Potions, ah, here are. " He found the dark magic history section. It wasn't really much, there were only a few shelves, but enough books to fill them up.
" Your looking at curses? " Luz was confused by why Evan was doing this before it dawned on her. " You're looking for a way to cure Eda aren't you? "
" Yeah, what else does it like I'm doing? " Evan replied back retortedly as he traced his finger through the what they had. " Even if it help a little bit, I want to help my mom. "
" But Evan, Eda said she was fine. As long as she takes her elixir. "
" For long though? " Evan asked looking back at Luz. " She's had it for years, and you don't think it's only gonna get worse? Luz, every chance I get, I need to look at every possible way to help. " He ended up grabbing three different books, each one talking about different types of curses.
" They even have crystal balls that act as computers? " Luz was surprised to see this. " This place is amazing. "
" Eh, not really it's about the same as any normal public library on Earth. " Evan said as they heard a familiar voice. "What do you think you're doing?"
Luz gasped in fear. " We've been caught. Pretend to be a book. " She put her arms out in trying to shape herself earning a confused look from Evan. They then heard children laughing.
" Hold on a second, doesn't that voice sound familiar? "
" Yeah...Yeah it does... " They both got to a book shelf and poked their heads to watch. " 'We're you're friends and we wanna help,' said the Tin Boy with a yelp. Otabin smiled and paced the floor. 'I've never had real friends before.' " Much to their shock and surprise it turned out to be Amity with a few kids in front of her.
" No freakin way... " Evan whispered in disbelief in what he was seeing. " Amity reading to kids? " They were surprised to see this because their last encounters weren't to pleasant.
" Yeah, that's a shocker. But let's just get out of her Luz. " He didn't get a reply back. " Luz? " he turned to see she wasn't there and saw her trying to sneak her way over. He sighed in annoyance. " Are you kidding me? " Reluctantly he followed her while Amity kept reading to them.
" 'Then we'll be your first,' the Chicken Witch clucked. Otabin couldn't believe his luck. So, Bookmaker Otabin surrounded by friends, bound a book of friendship and that's the end." The kids all gave her a round of applause clearly enjoying the story that was read.
" Amity seems so nice and smiley. " Luz said in surprise. " Yeah, but probably not the rest of the time...Though... " Evan whispered making Luz gasp excitedly.
" Maybe I can befriend her like Azura befriended her rival. "
" Are you serious right now? " Evan asked before they both ducked for cover while the kids were beginning to leave.
" Thank you so much. " " Good‐bye. " Amity waved them all goodbye and a single kid resembling Warden Wrath hugged her legs. " Good‐bye, Miss Amity. Thank you. "
" Thank you, Braxus. See you next time. " Amity said putting a hand on his head before he ran off to join his friends.
" Talk about not judging a book by it's cover. " Evan spoke up spooking her, cause he decided to hell with hiding since they'd be found anyways.
" Ugh! You two. " She sounded very displeased upon seeing them. " Amity... Whoop. " As Luz got up she dropped one of Evan's books. " Reading to kids. Wow. Looks like this sour lemon drop has a hidden sweet center. "
" It's for extra credit. " The witch quickly replied while Evan hummed having a hard time believing that as he noticed the book she had in her hand. " Yeah right, your reading them Otabin The Book Maker. A good choice to, my mom used to read this to me when I was little myself. So that means you were read that story to. "
For a brief moment Amity looked away almost as if she was caught. " Don't get your leggings in a bunch. " She noticed the book that she had. " Huh? Curses? "
" That's one of mine. " Evan took it back from her earning a confused look from Amity before she shrugged it off and went back to where she was reading picking up books that were on the floor.
" Hey, I could help with the kids and so Evan. We could take turns reading. And do voices. I do the best monster voice. " She said in a robotic tone
" Amity slammed the books onto the table. " Human and reject! Do you see me going to the Owl Shack and bugging you while you... fry up owls? "
" You know stupid that sounds right? " Evan asked with a raised eyebrow. She scoffed in response " Okay, I don't really know what you do there, but every time either one of you come near me, I get in trouble. "
" Okay, hold up a second, Blight. " Evan spoke up having enough with her pointing fingers. " The first incident happened because you were to focused on your pride enough for Luz to get dissected. The second one happened because of my aunt or your just to stubborn to admit that? "
" Fine! I admit it! Now just leave me alone! "
" I'm sorry. " Luz apologized starting to leave with Evan putting a hand on her shoulder. " No, your not the one who has to be sorry. " He said giving Amity a glare as they walked off. " Not at all. "
Luz sighed as they walked off. " So much for befriending rivals. "
" I told you Luz it doesn't work out like that. " Evan said before they heard a new voice. " You gonna let her get to you like that? "
They both turn to see an older witch and warlock. They had Hexside uniforms that were blue indicating they were from the Illusion track. Also from the looks of it they were both twins, and of the same age. Both had green hair and gold colored eyes. The witch's hair was long tied in a bulky plait, two small gold sphere piercings and had a mole under her left eye while her brother's hair was shorter and he had a mole under his right eye.
" Who are you? " Luz asked as they walked over to them both.
" Well‐wishers on a mission. The male twin replied. " A noble quest. " The female twin added as her brother continued to speak. " Watch this. Hey, Mittens! " He called out to Amity? Even thought it couldn't be seen, but she was blushing like crazy upon getting called that name. Meanwhile Evan was doing his best to hold back his laughter.
" Wow... "
" Mom says stop forgetting your lunch. " He held up a small bag shaped like a bunny that winked. " And stop being a jerk to your friends. " She stomped over to them and grunted taking the bag out of his hands. " There not not my friends. " Luz looked down sadly upon hearing that, while Evan scoffed finally having enough.
" Ok, you know what, we've tried to make peace and you know what screw it. I probably wouldn't want to be friends with you either. Then again, who in there right mind would even want be your friend? " While it might've seemed a bit harsh, Evan didn't care one bit, and this defiantly struck a string on Amity as she glared at him.
" Okay, okay. Let's calm down. " The older girl said putting a hand on both of their shoulders. " You know this does make a little sense. They both seems too cool for you anyways. "
" We are? " Luz was surprised to hear this. " You can leave now! " Amity said in annoyance. " All of you. " She left making the older girl laugh a bit.
" Yeah, nice talking to you too! " Evan retorted back and muttered under his breath. " Bitch... "
As Amity walked back to where she was reading earlier she scoffed repeating Evan's words. " 'Who in there right mind would want to be even your friend?' You don't know a thing about me... "
" You know that was rather harsh... " A new voice said making her turn see Wilhelm reading some manga that was close by. " But then again, harsh words were said on both sides. So no one really wins anything. "
" How long have you been there? "
" The whole time. " Wilhelm then gained a small smile. " So Mittens huh? Even I have to admit, that's kind of adorable. " She in return growled in embarrassment while supporting the same blush while he chuckled in amusement. " Don't be so worked up. Wouldn't want to give those children the wrong impression when you see them again do you? "
" Don't lecture me on how to do things. "
" I'm not. I'm only pointing out the facts, that's all. "
" Well go point them out to someone that actually cares. "
The red head only sighed. " That attitude hasn't been working so far for you already. Yet you persist on hanging onto it, shoving others away won't help you in the long run. Also, that human, she seems rather nice. "
" More like an annoyance. "
" That's not what I read from you... " Wilhelm said in a flat tone finishing up what he was reading while putting the manga away. " You know the way you acted was wrong. She only tried to do the right thing and at least try to make amends. But you keep pushing her away, why is that? "
" I can't show weakness... " Wilhelm hummed at her response while he stood back up on his feet. " Understandable, but deep down, living and fear and denial will only get you so far. " He bowed his head and made his leave. " Farewell, for now Amity. "
As he left Amity could only sigh. Even as much as she didn't want to admit it, Wilhelm's words greatly affected her, and a bit of guilt that started out small slowly started to grow within her.
Near the front Evan and Luz continued to interact with these new individuals. " So, you're the human we've heard so much about. " The green haired warlock said to Luz.
" Looks like word travels fast... " Evan commented exchanging a glance with Luz. " So, who're you two supposed to be?
The girl spoke up. " I'm Emira. And this is Edric. " She motioned to the boy next to her. " We're Amity's older siblings. "
" I already figured out you were twins, but your her older siblings? " Evan asked with a raised eyebrow pointing a finger at them. " Color me surprised, I'd thought she was an older sibling from the way she acts. "
" Yeah we get that impression a lot. " Edric admitted while Emira continued talking. " We heard how you embarrassed her at the school and at the Witch & Warlock Covention last week. No wonder she hates you both.
" I know. " Luz spoke up. " But we didn't mean any of it. I thought we were as cool as cucumbers. But we're as sour as pickles ".
" Eh, that's her lost. Don't worry about it. " Evan patted her on the back.
" And you must be the infamous 'Devil Eye'. Who's also apparently the son of the Owl Lady. " Edric said earning a glare from Evan upon being called the nickname the Emperor's Coven branded him with.
" You know who I am? "
" Oh yeah. We've both heard all kinds of stories about you. " Emira said as she was circling around him as if she was examining him for a closer look. " But your not what we expected. "
" Really? Humor then. " Evan crossed his arms thinking to himself in annoyance. 'oh this is gonna be good'.
" Well, that your really tall, intimidating and some even said you have a tail. " Edric said. " But, you don't really look the part. "
" I've noticed... " Evan said in a flat tone. " And just for the record, I don't have a tail. "
" So is the eyepatch real or what? " Emira asked in interest trying to take a peak at it with Evan lightly smacking her hand away before pulling it up to reveal his blind left eye quick enough to give them a glance making them wince from the sight. " Oh, never mind. Anyways don't waste your time with Mittens. Me and Ed, we are way more fun. Follow us. "
" Eh, I'll have to pass I gotta check out these books. " He turns to his roommate. " Luz you won't get into much trouble will you? "
" No I'll be fine. "
" Alright then. " Evan headed to the front to check out the books he needed. While doing so, he noticed that a note magically landed on his small stack. In curiosity he picked it up and read what it had to say: " Meet me on the right side, in the alley we need to talk. W. "
After checking out his books Evan headed to where the note told him to go. While it might've sounded like a trap and a bad idea, Evan knew that there were only a handful of others on the island who would send them one.
Not to mention, there was only one person he knew, or at least two people who had W at the start of their name. The second being Willow, but he knew it was the first.
" Alright Wilhelm let's get this over with. " Evan said in a blank bored tone while a chuckle of amusement was heard to his right. " It's nice to see you to cousin. It's a been a while. " The red haired warlock said as he walked up to him shaking his hand.
" Yes it has. " Evan nodded his head in approval. " Not since last winter at least. Still doing those jobs of yours lately? "
" If your referring to me relocating dragons and various other magical beasts then yes. Lately, things have been rather slow, but certain other species that emerge only this time of year are appearing here and there. But nothing to serious. The last serious job was with a Thorn Boulder last year, you were there. "
" I don't remember that. "
" I do. What've you been up to lately? "
" Still working with moms stand selling items from the human world and making the occasional potion delivery's. "
" And how's that treating you? "
" Sometimes, shitty, other times not so much. How about you? "
" A few days ago, I've applied to school. " Evan raised an eyebrow in confusion. " Your kidding me right? You enrolled into Hexside? Why? "
" Plenty of reasons, main one being, it helps me not stand out so much. All I have to do is blend in with the other students, make myself not 'stand out' to much. "
" You don't say...How's Saul? "
" He's doing alright, busy as usual...Now that were on the same subject, that's why I came to talk with you. "
" Oh yeah? "
" I take it you've learned about Aunt Edalyn's curse? " Evan raised an eyebrow at this. " You knew about her curse? How long? "
" For quite a while now, as did Saul, and you can probably guess Lilith knows as well. " The one eyed warlock scoffed at this. " Yeah, thanks a lot for not telling me any sooner, cousin, because let's just say that night wasn't very settling. "
" That human girl was there with you? "
" Yes, she could've killed us to. Now what do you want? "
" I've noticed you, had books about curses and since you now know, it'd be best to let you in on something. " This drew Evans attention even further as he began to explain. " Lately, Saul's been busy, really busy. And he might know how to make a stronger elixir for Aunt Edalyn. "
" Wilhelm, please don't screw around with me. " Evan pleaded with a bit of edge on his voice. " I got enough to worry about as it is. "
" And I'm not. " Wilhelm replied in a neutral tone. " We have a job for you, and if you do, not only will you get something in return but it'll also settle my debt to you. "
" So in other words, you'll scratch my back I'll scratch yours, and kill two birds with one stone? "
" Pretty much. If you do have the time, that is. " Evan began to think on his offer. " You actually mean by what you say right? "
" I do. "
" Alright, I'll stop by Saul's place when I can. "
" Whoa! " They both stick their heads out of the alley watching Luz, Edric and Emira being pushed out of the library by the guy at the front desk. You've made reading far too fun. Now, stay out. "
While the three of them laughed, both warlocks exchanged a look with one another. " Maybe his parents had sticks up their asses to and put them in his? " Evan guessed.
" It would seem so. " Wilhelm said in an amused tone. " Well, I better leave. Good day cousin. "
" You too. "
" I see you got in trouble anyways... " Evan said as he walked up to them. " Amity's even madder at me now. I didn't think that was possible. "
" No, when Mittens gets mad, she looks like this. " Edric inhales sharply, making his face go red like he was angry before exhaling, nearly falling over. " Whoa, I almost passed out. "
" You're pretty fun, human. " Emira said crossing her arms, exchanging a look with her brother and both of them nodded. She leaned forward to them. " So, hey, we're coming back tonight. There's a certain book we forgot to check out. You can bring your boyfriend if you'd like. "
Luz blushed at that comment while the one eyed warlock himself cleared his throat. " Okay, first off, just friends, not dating. And second, why do I get the feeling there's a catch to this? " Evan questioned.
" Hey, hey, hold on. " Edric leaned forward too. " It'll be worthwhile, rumor has it the Wailing star's supposed to unlock some rare magical event. You in? "
" Sure. " Luz turns to her room mate. " You wanna come Evan? "
He hummed in thought scratching his head a bit. " On one side I could get into trouble, which almost seems to find me anywhere...But then again. the wailing star only appears every few years, so you know what. Yeah, I'll bite, I'm in. "
" Great. Meet back here at midnight. Don't forget! " Edric waved them goodbye as the twins both left. " Bye! Evan this is great. First I befriend the siblings then I befriend the Amity. " Luz squeals in excitement.
" Eh, whatever floats in your boat. " Evan said as they left making their way back to the owl house un aware that Amity was watching them the whole time. She then did exactly what Edric said she'd do. " Phew! Almost passed out. "
" You know you could possibly get a stroke if you do that a lot. " Wilhelm said popping out of nowhere again much to her dismay. " How do you keep doing that? " Her only reply was simply a smirk, showing he was pleased with spooking her.
Meanwhile back at the Owl House, the bat baby was still crying and by now, both remaining residents were covering their ears. King tied some pillows over his while Eda used her detached hands to block her ears and for some reason Hooty wasn't bothered by it. Most likely he was sleeping.
" It's been hours! How can it keep screaming!? " The canine questioned in disbelief. " How did you and Phil ever put up with this!? "
" Oh shut it, pip-squeak. Compared to this thing, Evan was more quiet, he rarely ever cried. Thank titan... " She muttered that last part. " And I hate this too, but think about the money " She reattached her hands rubbing her fingers together while the crying caused a few bottles to shatter and her frame wanted poster to crack.
" No amount of snails is worth this torture! " King fell down onto the floor. " Make it stop! "
Eda sighed in defeat. " I can't believe I'm about to do this again. " She picked up the bat baby and upon doing so it finally stopped crying, as King reappeared behind the couch. Both exchanged a look for a brief moment.
" Uh, how did this go again? Oh yeah. Rock, rock. Maternal gesture. " The owl lady did just that while at the door Luz and Evan had returned.
" I just had the best day. Cool teens like me. Call us library books 'cause they were checking us out. " Evan gave her a confused expression as he made the books he checked out float into his room.
" Okay, no comment on that. " They both turn to see Eda holding the bat baby in her arms. " Aw, Eda, you look so motherly. "
" Say that again and I steal your tongue. " Her mentor threatened while Luz walked over. " Aw. How can you say that around this cute little baby? " She lightly poked it's cheek and upon doing so it gagged up another one and the new one gagged an even smaller one making Luz and Evan freak out at what they were seeing!
They all flew up into the air chirping away and before long one of the baby's breathed fire, shooting it at the couch making everyone run for cover.
" Okay, we better get an early start. " Evan said as he passed Luz her bag and opened the door. " Yeah, parenting sure looks rewarding. E‐Enjoy your life lessons. Bye! " They went out with Luz closing the door behind them.
Both Eda and King stared on as they watched the baby's fly around throwing and break stuff from multiple shelves " Uh, for, for the money? " King questioned with a straight face.
" For the money. " Eda replied as they avoided some incoming spit.
After another long walk, Evan and Luz arrived back at the library's entrance. While they were waiting, Evan watched Luz pace around.
" What are you doing? "
" I'm trying to figure out how to be cool. " Luz replied back. " Gotta be cool. Gotta be cool. " She set an elbow on a nearby pillar. " Cool? No. " She put herself up in a ridiculous pose. " Cool. " She then squat down doing another groaning a bit.
" So I take it that you've never done this before? "
" Oh yeah, I-I totally have...Okay I haven't this my first time. "
" Why are you making such a big deal out of this anyway? " Evan questioned before it hit him. " Oh, right. You don't have very many friends back at home don't you? "
" No...I'm just the 'local weirdo'. "
" Eh, who cares. Your just being you, nothing wrong with that. " Luz only sighed shaking her head. " Not everyone thinks that way Evan...This is the first anyone else wanted to hang out with me, aside from you and King, and Eda, oh yeah Gus and Willow too. "
" Well, at least your getting somewhere, better then no where. Right? " Luz only smiled at what he said. " Yeah. "
" Keep going! "
" Huh!? " They both look over to Edric and Emila were casual clothes. " This is fun to watch. I swear your both adorable. "
" You sure your not dating? " Edric questioned with a smirk. " No were not. " Evan replied supporting a light blush as Luz did. " Well whatever. " The male twin shrugged his shoulders. " So Luz, you ready to bring this whole, uh, whatever you doing, inside? "
Luz nodded her head with a happy smile. " Mm‐hmm‐mm‐hmm. " They all headed to the door.
" So how we gonna get in? " Evan questioned. " The librayians themselves have special magic to unlock this door. "
" We came prepared. " Edrice said as he brought out a piece of paper with multiple keys on it. " The signs says no trespassing but I'm allergic to the rules. " He passed it to his twin sister.
" And dairy. " Emira added as she took it earning an unamused look from Edric. " Wow, okay. Just expose me. " The symbols and writing on the paper glowed. Emira put the paper out in front of the lock, upon doing so, it burned to ash.
" Wow! " Luz was surprised to see this as the lock expanded open much Hooty does.
" Come on. " Edric said as they went inside as the entered the lock that was wide open closed and shrunk down. As to be expected with no one else around
" Standing in a dimly lit lobby. You guys know how to party. "
" There! The Wailing star! " Edric pointing to the stain glass window and from it they saw a shooting star flying through the sky and hence it's name, it was actually crying.
" Wow. Did you know it actually cries? " Luz asked Evan who shrugged his shoulders. " Honestly, up till now I've never heard or seen it. " Everyone then browsed around like they were expecting something.
" Hmm. Nothing happened. " Edric said and it turned out he was wrong.
" Think again... " Evan spoke up as he noticed all the books were glowing as Luz went over to the nearest book she could grab. " Wow, this is actually kind of cool... " The book she grabbed was titled: Extinct Birds of the Boiling Isles. Upon opening it 'whoosh!' from the pages a whole bunch of birds literally flew out of the pages squaking and cawing to life as they all flew around in the air much to the groups amazement.
" Wow. The Wailing star magicked the books to life. " Edric said while Luz put the the book back into it's shelf while Evan picked up a different book from the same shelf titled: Weird Ancient Creatures of The Human Realm.
Figuring something cool would happen, he opened it up but immediately regretted it. The reason why was because a freakin T Rex head came roaring out taking the them all by surprise. Quickly enough Evan slammed it shut before putting it back into the shelf.
While re catching his breath, the one eyed warlock exchanged a small glance with the trio with him. " Okay, defiantly not that book... "
" Agreed. " They all said and so the group all began to have a little fun while exploring the different books the library had to offer.
First they went over to some magazines. Edric grabbed one called: Regal Couture. He opened it up and then both he and his twin were now in fancy clothing followed by a peacock flying out of it.
Luz grabbed a magazine called: Witch Wares Weekly. The result was her gaining a cool new look and a large sword strapped to her back. However it turned out to be to heavy for her, but was caught by Evan who was now wearing some heavy duty armor of his own wielding a battle axe, as result from another magazine titled: Dungeon Informer.
We now see Luz, Edric and Emira reading a comic but when they opened it. " Nothing happened. " Luz said but something indeed did happen, what she just said appeared above her as an actual word bubble making the twins gasp in surprise.
" Wow! " they made a word bubble and as Luz closed the comic they all popped with a 'Thump' word bubble appearing beside her. Then right on que, they all turn to see Evan pulling out a giant hammer from a nearby funny comic. As soon as the small demon came out, Evan bonked it on the head making stars float around it's head as it slowly went back inside, while the one eyed warlock shrugged his shoulders.
Afterwards the group splited up wielding books titled: Snowballs A History. Luz watched as Edric was on the move looking for the others to ambush but only ended up getting blasted by Luz knocked down to the floor. He quickly retaliated while she got out of the way. But as she got around the corner, she got a face full of snowballs curtousy of Emira who laughed away.
Up above she looked up upon hearing Evan imitating an Indian war whoop before blasting her with snowballs and dodged another coming from her brother and in mid air he blasted him to, he continued making the war whoop as he continued his 'war path' of snowballs.
Meanwhile back at the Owl House you'd expect that things would be better right? Well not exactly, the bat baby's were in control of the place. One was flying around with a mace, another had a potion spilling it across the floor while another was hopping around in another set of Eda's boots.
Speaking of Eda, she and King were taking cover from all the chaos underneath a table.
" What silences children? " King questioned. " What if we invent a TV network for ages six to 11? " He asked.
" That's insane. Aah, there's only one way out of this... " Eda reached into her hair and pulled a switch blade making King gasp in shock to see what she was suggesting. But instead of that she did something else.
" The same thing I used to do for Evan when he was mad when he was little. Apple slices and story time. " She sliced a few apples into pieces bringing out the same book Amity had read to the kids earlier that day.
" All right, brats. Let's do this. " She said getting onto the couch emerging from her hiding spot. " Ugh. I can't believe I'm doing this again. " Eda said just as the baby's gathered around with King to listen to her read.
"Otabin spend his days alone amongst the many books he'd sewn. With needle and thread..."
"...the pages he mend. But all the while he longed for a friend." Ironically her apprentice was reading the same book and Luz had to admit, for a children's book it was defiantly pretty nice.
" Friend? " The little creature perked up upon hearing that word. " Luz, check this out. " She turned around upon hearing Edric's voice to see the twins walk up to her.
" Look what we discovered. " In Emira's hands was a childrens book called: Quacks Eats Snacks. Upon opening it the same cute little duck came flying out quacking away going around the floor like it was a pond.
" Aw. Cute little quackster. " Luz found this to be absolutely adorable but what she didn't expect the twins to add in a little something. Edric had drawn to human legs underneath the ducks picture as it happened, the duck itself had gained legs and freaked out by what was happening to it.
" Now he's extra cute. " Emira said as she closed it followed by the twins laughing at what they did. " Your turn, Luz. "
" I don't know. "
" Come on. Don't stop the fun. " Edric urged her as he passed her a pencil. She opened the book, and immediately grew more hesitant then ever since she loved books herself and respected them. With a sigh she gave her anwser. " I can't do it. "
" Let me help. " Edric grabbed her hand and made her draw on Otabin giving him an angry look and a claw. As it was about to come out, Luz slammed it shut.
" I don't wanna see it. "
" Whatever. We didn't come here just to doodle. Come on. " Emira grabbed Luz's hand making her drop the Otabin book, not realizing they had left it open and what they had unleashed.
While exiting out of the kid's corner they spotted Evan ridding on wave of water on a surf board. " Whoo-hoo! "
" See, now that guy knows how to have fun! " Edric exclaimed as they watched the warlock make his landing and closed the book he had.
" Now that was awesome! Hmm? Oh hey guys. " He quickly caught up to them. " What's going on? "
" We need to make a little detour... " Edric replied as Evan and Luz followed them, the one eyed warlock not knowing he had knocked down was a certain book from a non-fiction shelf, the sounds of drums beating were heard coming from it.
As for the group, the blight twins dragged their two companions to the romance section for some odd reason." Oh, wow. Boiling Isles romance. That's totally lame. " Upon saying this, Evan raised an eyebrow in confusion. " I mean, unless you guys are into it? You into Evan? "
" Depending on the mood and if wanna take a break, then yes. " He replied back before turning to the twins. " So what are you two looking for exactly? "
" Well, for starters, we'll need this one. " Edric pulled a book called The Lone Witch & Secret Room. Upon doing so a click was heard, the shelf went back into the wall before sliding sideways to reveal a secret room.
" Wow...That's a good book. " Luz said surprised to see this happen. The inside wasn't dusty at all but rather it was nice, and clearly someone used this place a lot, cause there were pillows on the floor, a table with with a desk with a still lit candle.
" Your club house is like, my ultimate secret hideaway. " Luz said as she entered with Evan looking around. " Yeah, I'll say, this makes me wanna make one for my home.
" We don't hang out in the library. " Edric said before doing an impression. " Uh, teacher, I'm in love with a dictionary. "
" I'm studying the dork arts. " Emira added. " This is Amity's secret hideaway. " Upon hearing this, Luz wasn't liking where this was going neither did Evan.
" Wait, so this why we broke in the first place? Why? "
" you see, Mittens has gotten too full of herself. " Edric said as he and his twin walked over to them. " She keeps tattling on us when we cut class. " Emira continued talking. " She needs to learn not to mess with people like that. So, we're going to find her diary. "
" And then post the pages all around school for everyone to see. " Edric and Emira then laughed.
" What? Isn't that taking it a bit too far? " Luz asked as Emira put a hand on her shoulder.
" No. See, we're her family. " Emira said. " It's tough love. She needs to learn to lighten up. " As they walked off Luz shuffled over to Evan leaning over into his ear worriedly.
" Evan, we can't let them do this! I know Amity might be mean, but this isn't right! "
" I know! " Evan whispered back making sure the twins weren't watching them. " Listen, we need to find it and get out of here. "
" Right, we just have to... " Luz then noticed something caught in her line of view. Wait, are those... " The human girl squealed in excitement in what she was seeing in a shelf line labled: My favorite Books. " Good Witch Azura books one through four! " She ran over to them not believing what she was seeing.
" You get these on the Boiling Isles? So majestic. " Evan walked up next to her. " I still don't get how these books are good. Hmm? " He leans forward next to the third volume and notices three issues of Black Clover.
" What? She reads Black Clover!? " Even he was surprised to see this.
" See... " Luz said with a happy face while poking his cheek with two fingers repeatedly. " We all have something in common~ " She sung out while her room mate was growing irritated.
" Please stop touching my face. "
" Sorry! " She retracted them back and noticed something next to the fourth issue. Pulling it out she found a small book with a which that resembled Azura. " Is this cover hand‐drawn? " In curiosity she opened up the book to reveal some writing and then a little Amity emerged from the pages.
"I saw that human girl again, and that warlock. " Upon seeing this both of them exchanged a look of what they had found, Amity's diary. " I may have overreacted. I don't wanna come off as cruel. I just can't show weakness. "
" No. " Luz quickly closed it shut. " We need to get out of here.. "
" What'cha got there? " They both turned around upon hearing Edric's voice, with Luz hiding the diary behind her. " Oh. N‐Nothing. Just a Good Witch Azura 5 where she goes through her Goth phase. " Luz quickly replied as both were unaware that the book levitated out of her hands.
" Huh? No wait! "
" Stop! " But the twins wouldn't listen and opened it up to reveal another mini Amity. " It's not fair. I'm the only one who knows Ed and Em aren't perfect. Why do they keep getting away with things? "
" This is it... " They were pleased to find what they were looking for before growing confused.
" Luz,Evan were you hiding this from us? " Emira was shocked to hear what they were doing. " You see how she treats people. And how she treats you both. "
" And dropping to this level is your anwser to solving everything? " Evan retorted bitterly. " Evan is right. I know Amity can be kind of cold but no one deserves this. These are private thoughts. Let's put it back. " Luz then attempted to grab it from Edric, but soon everyone joined in on a tug of war.
" Let go! " Evan grunted as he pulled. " She needs this! " Edric grunted along with his twin. " It's for her own good! " Emira argued and finally having enough Evan ripped it out of there hands.
" You say she needs this and it's for her own good, but that's gonna happen. Not like this! " He said swiping the diary out not knowing a few pages dropped out of it. From the pages many more mini Amity's were heard. "I wish I had somewhere to go". "Why won't the human leave me alone"? "Why is that reject even with her?" "Called my teacher mom again". "Today I somehow made a new friend." "How is this manga so good? " "Sorry I haven't written for a while. Wait, why am I apologizing?"
" Crap! " Evan cursed while Luz was quick to pick up the pages.
" Really!? " They all turn to see Amity with her face all red showing how mad she was. " I- It's not what it looks like! " Luz said as her twin siblings held back their laughter.
" You two are the worst! " She exclaimed before taking her diary and the loose pages from it. " But you two... I've been trying to figure out what your deal is. Are, are you posers? Nerds? I know. You're both just bullies. "
" Amity! " Luz tried to call her out but she wouldn't listen and ran off while both her siblings were laughing at her misfortune
" Mittens killed the fun. " Emira said and as they were speaking, Evan clenched his right fist in anger. " Again. " Edric said. " Oh, well. We're headed out to go goblin‐tipping. Wanna come? "
" Are you serious!? " Evan snapped turning around to face them for a brief moment his silver eye flashed red. " Don't you both hold a bit of remorse at all!? That's your little sister! "
" Nah, don't worry about it'll be fine. " " Yeah, she'll be over it. "
" You know what, you both should be ashamed of yourselves! C'mon Luz, I think we've had enough 'coolness' for the day. " Agreeing with what he said they both went after her while both Blight twins shrugged their shoulders and made their leave.
" You don't actually think we went to far do you? " Edric said with Emira shaking her head. " No, not at all. Remember, she needed to be a taught a lesson, in tough love. "
" Oh, do tell. " A voice out of nowhere said taking them by surprise. Suddenly Emira was snared up while Edric was pulled into behind a row of book shels.
Back with Evan and Luz they finally found who they were looking for. " Amity wait! "
" Go away! " The witch wouldn't have none of it.
" C'mon just listen to us for a minute! " Evan said as she grabbed her arm but quickly got out of his grip. " First you embarrass me. Then you wanna be friend? " She then points to Evan. " You insult me today when you don't know a thing about me, and then you suddenly trying to do the right thing? I don't get either of you. Pick a side! "
" Amity, were telling you the truth, we didn't know that they came here just to get your diary. "
" Just shut up and go away! Before things get worse! "
" Okay, I tried playing nice... " Evan mumbled before getting in front and slammed his fist into the bookshelf right next to him making Amity flinch slightly.
" Now it's my turn! So you just shut up and pay attention! You wanna know what I really think about you? I think your just a selfish spoiled bitch since I first met you! " He said before sighing shaking his head lightly confusing her as his voice became gentle. " But now...now I can see that your no different then us. "
" Where are you getting at with this? " The witch questioned. " You don't even know me! "
" And your right, I don't...But, let me ask you this, everything you do is only just a charade for the real you, isn't it? " Amity was not clearly expecting this question at all. She grew hesitant to awnser but as she was, the sound of loud heavy footsteps shaking the ground were heard. And then they saw something truly horrifying especially for Amity including Evan.
" You gotta be kidding me... "
" Otabin? " Yes, the very monster facing them was indeed the beloved children's character. But instead of being the small loveable guy he was, instead the small mouse like creature was was even larger, he had long arms with razor sharp claws,, razor sharp teeth, two large back legs and a long fleshy tail. Right in the middle of his chest, was his own book. The same page where Edric made Luz draw on was present and showing, acting as his beating heart.
" With claws and fangs and breaking bones, I found a friend to make my own. " The now demonized children's character rhymed as it snagged Amity. " Luz, Evan! "
" Let go of her! " As Evan was about to cast a spell circle Otabin spun around using his now large tail to smack the one eyed warlock into a book shelf all while the creature made off with Amity.
Luz's first thought was to run over and check on her friend. " Evan are you okay? "
" I'm fine, I'm fine! " Evan managed to get himself up while groaning in slight pain a bit. " What the hell did I just see? " As he asked this question Luz lowered her head down in shame. " I know why...Edric an Emira were doodling on the books, and Edric made me draw on Otabin. "
" That's explains why, he don't look the same...And from the way he spoke, that means he's opposite of what he really is. We gotta get to Amity quickly. " He said while picking up the witch's journal and used his magic to reattach the pages, passing it to Luz.
" Let's go. " They began to make chase, but only minutes afterwards, Evan gasped as he tackled Luz to the floor avoiding a few incoming arrows. They then turn to where they heard snarling and feral growls. It was a whole group of Orcs, not a few, but many of them.
" Orcs!? " Luz couldn't believe what she was seeing as she quickly ran over to Evan for cover while he made a sword emerge. " Since when are there Orcs on the Boiling Isles!? "
" These aren't the normal ones you see every now and then! " Evan replied as he blocked an incoming attack and stabbed the attacker in the chest and then sliced down taking out another. " A fantasy book must be open. Luz, go on ahead, I'll find the book and close it before we get over run. "
" I'm not leaving you by yourself Evan! " Luz said not aware of an Orc coming up from behind her. " Duck! " Evan cried out as he created an Axe made out of ice and threw it, as she ducked down, the weapon made contact killing the orc instantly.
" This isn't up for debate! " He decapitates another incoming orc and made a spell circle creating walls of air to sepperate those who were ahead to give the human a clear escape route. " Go help, Amity!
" Alright! " Even though she didn't want to leave Evan behind, she knew Amity needed help. And the fact that with the way Evan was fighting, she'd only get in the way and slow him down while he began to search for the book, all while killing a few foes on the way.
Elsewhere at the Childrens Corner, Otabin placed Amity up against a large book that he most likely crafted himself. Holding her in place, he brought out a needle and went forward. As she looked away, fearing the worst, instead Amity didn't feel any pain. But instead, her arm and fingers were being wrapped by string?
As Otabin pulled the string, the ones wrapped around the witch's arms tightened and was becoming part of the paper itself. " Why are you doing this? I've been reading you since I was a kid. I know you're not like this. Someone changed you. "
" But friends are what I've always sought. And now a friend my claws have caught. " The monster said as sound of rumbling was heard and purple smoke came in with the shiloutte of a figure being seen wearing fantasy witch's clothing. " Azura? " Amity asked swearing it was the very character of the book series she loved, but not exactly.
" Close. Is it drawn okay? " Luz asked as she lifted up her skirt. " I kind of interpreted the descriptions. "
" Luz! "
" Ah, right. " She regained focus and taking a pencil to write. " The good witch, Luzura, grabs her trusty staff. " From the pages, a staff materialized with Luz taking hold of it. " All right. Beloved work of children's fiction let go of her. " With a cry she charged forward and tried to cast some magic, but instead nothing happened and Otabin grabbed the staff before taking it and threw it aside. Luz could only watch as Otabin grabbed Amity's diary and closed it making her clothes disappear before chuckling nervously.
" Not an Azura fan, are you? " Her only response was Otabin putting Luz on the other page next to Amity and began to tie her in place while singing. " Making friends, taking friends, never be without my friends. "
" You fiend. You can't rhyme friends with friends! " Luz commented. " Great work, Luzura... " Amity said in a flat unimpressed tone earning a glare from the human. " Hey! I was trying to save you! "
" And you could've done better and where's Evan!? "
" He's...kind of preoccupied with orcs. " Luz replied sheepishly making Amity scoff. " Well, it doesn't matter. We're gonna be stuck together forever. "
As she grew down, Luz tried to move her arm and noticed since it was attached to the paper, she got some movement. An idea dawned on her. " No, we aren't. Follow my lead. One. " She moves her legs hit the paper making the book move a bit. " What are you doing? " Amity was confused by what Luz was attempting to do.
" Two! Three! " After a bit of effort the book fell forward hitting Otabin in the forehead and noticed that since they were on the ground they were able to make a run for it while the monster gave chase.
" Come back! "
Back with Evan, he continued to brave his way through the entire horde of Orcs. While he seemed to be fine, the one eyed warlock was getting tired because his foes just kept coming.
After much fighting he spotted his target and rushed over to it.
But before he could a large arm came out of the pages, and then another wielding a large hammer. Before long what emerged was a massive troll, that greeted him with a roar.
" Oh come on! " Evan groaned upon seeing this new foe and made a shield to block the impact from the trolls hammer, causing some cracks to be made on the floor. Rolling to the side, Evan created an ice spear and threw it forward, hitting the trolls chest making it howl out in pain but shook it off as it attempted to grab him.
As it did, happen, the one eyed warlock made two large daggers appear in his hands and stabbed them into the beasts hand making it leg go of him. While getting up the troll got ready to attack him again only for Evan to make a spell circle on the ground making a series of large spiked rocks shoot out of the floor impaling the beast, and as it roared out in pain, Evan used his magic to propel himself into the air, creating a large scythe making the blade itself go into the trolls mouth killing it instantly.
While it's body fell forward Evan used his magic to make the book come to him and then closed it up making all the corpses and blood that build up in the library disappear. All except for the blood covering himself for some odd reason. Even so, Evan sighed in relief sitting down on the floor to catch his breath. glad that annoyance was out of the way and out of curiosity he checked out the title of the book before laughing a bit.
It was the first book of the Lord of The Rings trilogy. " It had to be a good book didn't it? " He said before managing to get himself up to put the book up in its shelf.
" Okay, now where are you Luz? " The sound of Otabin's snarls was heard anwsering his question. " That way..."
With Luz and Amity they had just managed to lose Otabin for the time being.
" Now what? " The witch questioned. " I don't know. I didn't even think that would work. I figured Evan would be finished by now, but I was all like 'roaaarrr!' " She imitated a cheap roar and for some reason even despite the dangerous situation they were in Amity couldn't help but laugh making Luz smile to see she was finally making some progress.
Unfortunately though, a familiar needle pierced through the book. " Friends! " Otabin had found them and started to reel them in pulling the book over a shelf bringing them closer and closer back to him.
Trying to think of something, Luz tried to get her arm loose, while Amity noticed a nearby ladder and grabbed on it. With her grip, the book stood up and getting her legs locked around it, the strings holding her arm down broke loose and was sent flying into a metal cart. " Luz! "
Otabin had the human girl back in his grasp and continued to sow her on. " You squirm and fight, yet scream and shout. But friendship always will win out. " The monster rhymed as pulled the strings converging Luz's body into the book all except for her head. As he was doing about to do so, Amity came rolling in using the cart bashing it into Otabin making him skid across the floor hitting a bookshelf, that soon fell on top of him.
While he was down, Amity used this chance to pull the strings out setting Luz's body free. " Oh. Third dimension how I've missed you. " The human said happily while Otabin got the book shelf off of him.
" We must stay friends until the end. There is no tear I cannot mend. " Otabin said but before he could try anything a series of chains suddenly sprouted out locking his arms and legs in place.
" Not today old friend! " The one eyed warlock grunted as he struggled to keep him in place. " Evan! "
" Luz! You gotta fix your mistake! Return him back to normal! " Surely enough Otabin began to get loose from his restraints. " Hurry! " Amity gasped in realization taking a pencil to write on the large book. " Luz has to right a wrong. " Upon writing it, a large magic eraser came into her arms. " Luz, here! " Passing it to the human, Luz rushed forward and erased the doodle that was made.
Instantly, Otabin returned to normal, who was caught by Luz, who let him go. Amity proceeded to walk up to him and picked the mouse up. " I'm so sorry. I don't know what came over me. "
" Hey, it's okay. We're still friends. " Amity reassured. " Same goes for me little buddy..." Evan said getting a nod from the witch and after closing the book, Otabin disappeared while the one eyed warlock sighed in relief laying down on his back.
After cleaning up the damages in the library the trio made their out. Evan groaned as he stretched out his arms before yawning. " I don't care if it's daylight, I'm gonna sleep like a rock tonight. "
Luz chuckled at what he said. " Yeah, defiantly an adventure. "
" But, no less, it's good to see you're all okay. " They turn to see Wilhelm walking up to them with Edric and Emira in tow.
" And where the hell have you been the whole time while I had to fight orcs!? " Evan questioned. " Let's just say I had a little 'chat' with Amity's siblings. Which I do also believe they have something to say, do you not? "
The twins both exchanged a look with one another before they said. " Were sorry Amity. "
" For... " Wilhelm asked making them continue. " For threatening to post your diary all over the school... " Edric said with Emira finishing it off. " For everyone to see... "
" You what!? " As she was about to lung at them, both Luz and Evan held her back while Wilhelm motioned his head telling them to beat it which they did. After calming down she turned to Wilhelm.
" Why did you come? "
" I sort of figured, something would happen. But I knew my cousin had it handled. " He said patting Evan on the shoulder making him snort not amused since he did a lot of work when he could've gotten help.
" Cousins!? " Both Luz and Amity exclaimed at the same time making them look at one another. Luz smiled for that moment while Amity just turned away returning to her usual demeanor.
" Just for the record. .Happened. " Amity began to walk off with Wilhelm in tow. As she was going, Luz called out to her.
" Wait. It doesn't make up for reading your diary but would you wanna borrow this? " She stopped and turned around to see Luz holding out issue number 5 of The Good Witch Azura. " I noticed you only had up to four. "
She accepted the offer and took it. " Thank you. " As she was about to walk Amity sighed and stopped. " Luz, maybe you aren't a bully. I haven't exactly been the friendliest witch either. I'll think on that. And Evan... " She turned to the one eyed warlock who gained his attention. " You aren't a reject, and I realize now that it'll be a long time before I ever reach the level of power you have. "
Evan smiled before shaking his head. " I accept the compliment, but It ain't about how magic you have Amity... "
" It's how you use it and you grow with it... " Wilhelm continued Evan's sentence nodding to his cousin before they walked off. While doing so, Amity glanced down at the book that was lendded to her and then over at Wilhelm.
" Shouldn't you head home by now? "
" I have nothing else to do for the time being... " Wilhelm replied. " Plus, it's a Saturday, we have no school tomorrow. I could leave if you want. "
" No, it's fine. " She quickly replied back smiling a bit feeling glad that she had someone to talk to. " So you're really related to the Devil Eye himself? "
Wilhelm only chuckled in amusement hearing that question. " That's a story, for another time. "
Back with Evan and Luz they made their way back to the Owl House with Evan using a large branch to help him walk and not fall asleep.
" I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm gonna sleep like a rock. How bout you? "
" Nah, I think I'm good... " Luz replied. " Hey, Evan? Thanks for coming with me. "
The one eyed warlock smiled. " No problemo. Also any other questions you have, could it possibly wait another time? " Evan asled as they finally arrived back at the Owl house.
" Yeah, sure I don't mind. Here let get the door. " Luz opened it up letting him inside. " Mom! King! Were...home... " Luz came in and smiled seeing how Eda was holding the bat baby's in her arms while King was asleep on her legs. Suddenly the moment was broken cause Hooty slammed himself open scaring them both.
" Hoot! Hoot! "
" Hooty what the hell!? " He didn't get a reply instead something large squeezed itself through the opening. It was a much larger human head with bat like features with long black hair.
" Whoa. You must be Mama. " Luz guessed. " Yi Yi. Mama is I. And I is the Bat Queen. " The demon began to whistle calling her baby's who woke up and happily flew into her hair. " Aah! Snuggle dumplings. " The bat queen then gagged up a red chest that opened up revealing a whole bunch of gold coins before spitting up a skull shaped whistle. " For troubles, your momma is owed one. " She said looking over to Evan before she squeezed herself out and flew off with Luz closing the door.
After doing so Eda began to stir awake in her sleep. " Ah. Sweet babies. Babies? Where are the babies!? "
" Bat Queen just came by and picked them up. " Evan awnsered.
" Oh, and I just taught Junior how to pick locks too. "
" Well it looks like your night turned out to be very successful. " Luz spoke up and gestured to the chest. " Look at all that money you made. And look at this cool whistle that scary woman gave you. I'd wash it before you use it. " Luz went up to Eda and gave her the said whistle.
" Yeah. We did it all for the money. " She said in a sad tone. " I miss by babies! " King cried into her arms. " Eh, what's done is over with. So, how was your night? Also Evan why are you covered in blood? "
" Good. Then bad. Then maybe good. " Luz replied before Evan gave his reply. " Let's just say it was long... " The door then squeaks open. " Hey, you wanna hear about my night? " Hooty questioned.
" No! " Evan, Eda and Luz replied all at once. " That's not a thing anyone ever wants! " King said
" And now if anyone else needs me, I'll be the shower and I'm going to bed. " He said before going up the stairs. Making sure he was gone Eda hummed in thought. After looking after the bat queens children, it made Eda remember all the good times she had raising Evan from an infant along with Phil. She didn't know why, but it sort of made the owl lady feel something she hadn't felt in a long time.
She then looked over to Luz with a raised eyebrow. " Wanna see Evan's baby pictures? " Her apprentice merely squealed and nodded her head excitedly.
" Don't even think about it! " Evan's voice echoed overhearing what was said.

So? How'd you like this? A bit different from normal yes, and the connection with Evan and Wilhelm's been already revealed. I know it seems a bit early, but hey, that's kind of the point.
Not to mention, more relatives have been added. Along with even more questions and possibility's.
Either way, love it hate it, entirely up to all of you. Also I've not only updated this story but also Ultraman Kiba with Chris and Kipo in The Age of Wonderbeast's. That way I've succeeded in my goal of doing a triple update, which is something you'll all clearly enjoy.
The next story I'll have my eyes set on will be my teen titans crossover, just to let you all know.

Honestly, I'm surprised no one even bothers to try. I mean geez, most Owl House story's are gay stories. I ain't gotta problem with Lgbt or whatever the hell they call it, that's just my opinion. As for some of you, don't judge me, I grew up in the times before it got serious and pratically everything you say or do is 'offensive' there's a fine line between being serious or just over reacting and destroying stuff just to make a point.
