Here's the next chapter for Mysterious Magic and thanks to all of you, this story takes the number 4 spot for the most reviews in The Owl House fanfiction itself. I'm super stoked, after learning about Season 2's debut next month on June 12th, Saturday, with over at least 21 new episodes!

Not to mention they green lit the series again for a third season! With the debut of season 2 and new episodes, it'll give me way more material to work with as this story progresses. Make no mistake, there will be at least a few more updates of this story. So without further ado, let's get rolling!

Chapter 13

Escape of the Palisman

A few days had passed since Gus's scheme involving sneaking in Luz and Evan which ended in disaster. The douche bag he was trying to beat, found out there secrets, and so the human girl was brought into detention while the devil eye himself had an all out brawl with the school guards.

So after a bit of chaos here and there, one thing led to another. Such as Eda enrolling both her son and student into Hexside. The only down thing about it was Evan objected in attending, but reluctantly decided to go, but only because Luz would be there with him.

Shortly after that whole fiasco, Gus rapidly apologized not just to Luz but to Evan especially. But even it didn't stop the owl ladies son from punishing him. He wanted to something 'special' but after listening to Luz telling him to tone it down a bit, he gave in and found a different way of punishing him.

He made Gus watch The Thing. Making the young warlock terrified by top quality horror was more then enough enjoyment to him. At first he was gonna pick Alien, but Luz suggested next time much to her roomate's pleasure and Gus's misfortune.

and now see the group sitting a bench at the Boiling Isle's version of a playground titled: The Slayground. Like everywhere else, where usually something was alive there indeed were things there that stood out. Such as octopus tentacles moving around in the sandbox.

Sitting a park bench, Evan was sitting right in between his mother and Luz reading manga. But he was having a hard time doing so, cause Luz was acting up all nervous.

" Luz, c'mon calm down already. " The one eyed warlock said looking over to her.

" I can't help it Evan! " Luz replied back frantically. " What if he gets hurt? What if the kids are mean to him? " She gasped. " My parental instincts are freaking out, man! "

" Luz c'mon it's to early for those to kick in now. "

" Hey! " Luz exclaimed pointing a finger at him. " It is never to early to develop parental instincts! "

" Evan's right Luz " Eda agreed as they looked over to King who was trying to climb up a slide. " Plus he's fine. Look at him. "

" It does look like he's having fun. " Luz admitted.

" Aw. I wonder what cute little game he's playing. "

" Probably something to satisfy his ego. " Evan said in a bored tone as he continued reading his manga.

" Stand back, cretins! " King cried out as he continued climbing up the slide with a few kids watching him. After a little more he got to the top. crying out in victory. " Yes! Yes! This is a throne worthy of a tyrant. Bow to me you snotty underlings! " The canine demanded. " Bow! "

The two kids at the bottom of the slide exchanged a look with another. " Okay! " They did the opposite and did a few silly antics. " Yes...appease your master. "

" This isn't for standing... " A little kid with a trail of snot said from behind him. " It's for sliding. You try. " While the kid was only trying to push him down the slide instead King came tumbling down it instead and wailed over to the trio like a little kid.

" Eda! That monster took my throne. "

" You mean the baby? " Eda asked in amused tone.

" No, the usurper. " He pointed to the by was a springer. 'Note'I don't know what there called, that's what I've always called them:('

" I want you to go over there and blow him up. Kaboom! "

" Kaboom! " The kid mimicked what he said.

" Yeah, I'm not using Owlbert to blow up a five‐year‐old. " The Owl Lady twisted her palisman making the little owl hoot awake. " He's got better things to do. Like this... " She scratched the little owl's side making him warble showing he was enjoying it greatly.

" Aw, what a sweetie. How did you get him?

" Get? " Eda repeated what she heard. " I made Owlbert from the branch of an ancient tree. " The little guy jumped into her open hand lifting him up so he could perch on her shoulder rubbing up against her. " Oh, he's my palisman and we're bonded for life. I'd annihilate anyone who'd hurt him. " Evan sighed sadly for some odd reason confusing Luz for a second and as he did it Owlbert went over to Evan to cheer him up which was something he appreciated.

" Evan you'll help me right? " King asked pleading for his help, he got no response, only the one eyed warlock lowering down what he was reading for a brief second and went back to it ignoring him completely.

" Fine! Don't help. Revenge will taste all the sweeter if they fall by my hand alone! " King laughed evilly unaware that the same little kid from earlier snuck up behind him. " Tag, your it! " The kid pushed him into the ground laughing again and ran off.

" Ooooh! Oooh! It's coming! Mom it's coming! " Evan said excitedly tapping his mother's shoulder. " Oh yeah, here we go. King's squeak of rage. " They watched as the little canine grunted standing back up straight before throwing a tantrum while making an extremely high pitched squeal that easily anyone could laugh at. He ran off continuing to squeal making both mother and son laugh.

" He is like a little teakettle. " Eda said wiping away a tear.

" Are you kiddin'? " Evan commented. " He sounds an angry little gnome that sucked in some helium. The little guy's voice would've been squeaky enough, so just imagine how it'd sound afterwards! " Both of them continued to laugh some more. As they were doing so, Luz noticed there was some sort of symbol on Owlberts foot.

" Hey, what's that? "

" That's his interlock. So he only fits under my staff. Every palisman has one. " She explained and suddenly everything became dark and grey much like in her dreams. She could only gasp in surprise as she stood up, as she did the bench and her staff faded out.

" Luz? Evan? " She called out to them, her voice echoing and full of panic. " Hello?

" Eda! " Luz's voice echoed.

" Luz? "

" Mom! "

" Evan? "

" Mom! " Evan's voice echoed again and all of the sudden something came from behind her, knocking the owl lady down it was the same monster Eda has saw in her dream, the very same creature she the night when she revealed her curse. It had her trapped in it's grasp ready to finish her off while all the owl lady could do was snap her eyes shut.

At the same time, Evan was lightly tapping his mother's face, it all just happened so fast. One minute she was explaining how palismans worked and then blam! She just fainted.

" Has she ever done this before? " Luz asked in concern.

" No, I've never seen her do this. " Evan replied as he continued trying to wake her up. " Mom...mom...c'mon mom snap out of-Whoa! " Without much time to react, Eda lunged her son of the bench knocking him to the ground and much to their shock, she had already made a knife made out of ice. The way she was acting it was almost she was being attacked and was fighting for her life. Slowly things started to calm down as she was catching her breath and even despite his position Evan put a hand on the same hand where she was holding the knife.

" Mom...It's alright...It's just me... " He spoke in a very calm and reassuring tone despite completely still in shock for what his mother had done while lowering down her weapon. " That's it... "

" Wha? " She had now come back to her senses and gasped in shock getting off her son. " Evan...I-I... " As she tried to apologize she grunted shivering a bit and Evan had already put it together.

" The curse is acting up isn't it? " He didn't need an anwser but instead helped her up. " We need to get home. Now! " Eda said as she bent down to grab her staff.

" King we have to go! " Luz called out as they made their way out. The little canine was in some sort of little showdown with the little kid. " Five more minutes, please! " . The demon called out

" Now King! " Evan firmly yelled back much to King's dismay. " Ah, man. " He pointed at the boy. " This isn't over. "

" Okay, let's play again real soon. " The little kid said as he walked towards the canine holding out his arms. " No, no. Keep those sticky hands away! " King screamed out and his voice became louder as soon as the boy hugged him. " Oh, no! He's touching me! Aaaaahhh! "

After arriving home the first thing Eda did was throw her staff forward, yawning as she faceplanted into the couch.

" Just hang tight mom, I'll go grab your elixir. " Evan said only for Eda to wave him off. " Don't worry about it. I'll get it myself in a bit. "

" Do you need us to stay home and take care of you? " She gasped in excitement gaining an idea. " I could fit King in a little doctor's outfit. "

" Eh? " The canine heard what she said. " No one wants to see that. " Eda said in a bored tone.

" I do. " Luz said and immediately afterwards Evan lightly smacked the sides of his head with a light blush on his cheeks. It was the result of something imparticular coming into mind.

" Okay, moving along now. Mom, I'm gonna go grab it, right now. "

" Evie relax. Look, I know how to take care of myself. I've had this curse long before you were even born. "

" So, how'd you get it? " Luz questioned.

Eda grunted as she put her face into the couch muffling an anwser. " I don't know. "

" You don't know!? "

" How do you not know mom!? This is serious! "

" Somebody gave it to me. I don't know who and I don't care because I'm fine, all right? " Eda said as she stood up and raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

" Anyway, don't you have plans with Tweedledum and Twerpledee? "She asked as Owlbert retrieved her staff and allowed Eda to plant him back in place.

" Well, Me, Willow, Gus, and Evan are going to the Grudgby game between Hexside and Glandus High."

" Since when are you into sports? " Eda asked and Luz got into her mentors face.

" Since I found a little something called "Hexside Pride. To think that Glandus, whoever they are, would dare face us. But if you need me to stay... "

" Gross. Sympathy. Go! Go have fun at sport. " Eda commanded pointing to the door. "Hooray! Hooray for sport! " Luz cheered. " Evan are you coming!? "

" No thank you! "

" Okay that fine! " As she got near the door she stopped kneeling down to King who was drawing plans to face off against the little kid. " Hugs and kisses, King. Mwah! " She kissed him and ran out the door singing. " Don't spend all night plotting revenge~! "

" That drooly‐faced heathen will know my wrath. " King replied back as Evan came into the living room bringing his mother one of her elixir vials.

" Aren't you going with her? "

" No. Sports aren't my thing. Drink. " He gave it to his mother who began to do so.

" Evan, just go with her. At least you make sure she stays out of trouble. "

" Fiiiine! " Evan groaned as he went out the door.

Despite Evan's annoyance of him not wanting to go, he left anyways and after a while of speed walking, Evan had arrived at Hexside where he heard the sounds of drums being played.

As he was walking the bus which was more like a six legged dragon that was more shaped like a boat tried to take a bite at him.

" Don't even think about... " The one eyed warlock said glaring at 'the bus' who quickly backed up in fear. " Sheesh, for once I wished everything around here didn't try to eat you. " Evan groaned as he rubbed his forehead. For some weird reason every time he went to Hexside he always felt something was off with the place but could never figure out what it was. " Okay, let's get this over with, now where the heck are they at? " His question was anwsered upon hearing cheering and he knew who they belonged to.

" Ah, there they are. " He spotted the trio and started to walk over to them.

" Happy game day, fellow, uh... Are we Hexidians? Hexies? " Luz gasped. " Hexoleos?

" Actually, most people call us winners. " Willow said

" And who might that be? " Evan questioned as he came up much to Luz's surprise.

" Oh cool! Now the whole gang is here! " Luz happily said putting her arm around his shoulder. " Evan, did you change your mind? "

" Yes and no. That's my only response. " He said in a flat bored tone as he gently removed her arm off him.

" Grudgby games are the best. " Gus said. " The players go through these action‐packed trials. And the audience gets to wave flags. Look, I practiced. " He did a few a twirls with the said flags.

" Is it weird that I'm not wearing anything Hexside? " Luz asked looking at her usual shirt earning a worried expression from Willow. " Um, it's weirder that you're wearing Glandus colors. " The ground suddenly shook as a giant student walked right by them.

" Get ready to be creamed, Glandus nerd. " He said pressing a finger on Luz's head.

" Hey! I'm a Hexside nerd! " The girl replied back. " Gotta change out of this shirt. Where can I get a Hexside one? "

" I know. " Gus spoke up. " There's a lost‐and‐found box in the cafeteria. "

" Ah! The lost‐and‐found. Where mouthguards go to retire. "

" And many other shameful items... " Evan commented making himself chuckle and then Luz tugged his arm. " Wait, what are you doing? "

" I figured we'd both get our hexside on. C'mon. "

" Ok, but just for the record, I'm only going because I wanna see what I can find. " Evan said as he followed her inside.

" Evan, what's the matter? How come your not pumped up about this? "

" Luz, it's just one sport, and honestly I just don't find it exciting. Plus, if I want some action, then I can find it myself, not to mention Dungeon Diving puts whatever they got to shame. "

" You know Evan, this could actually be fun. Maybe you just need to give it a chance. "

" Eh, we'll see. " He said before they spotted the the lost and found.

Minutes later after Luz finished decking out on dressing up and Evan finding some good he could take home, the two of them emerged from the doors.

" Yes! " The human girl cheered Goooo, Hexside! " Luz cheered as she did the splits but upon doing so a sickening cracking sound was heard making Evan cringe slightly.

" Uh...Luz are you alright? That sounded like it'd hurt. "

" It...did..." Luz replied back slowly allowing the pain to slowly subside. " But now I know not to do that again. Uh, where is everyone? " She asked cause aside from her friends, there were no signs of the other students or the bus.

That was until they all looked up into the sky to it flying off and for some weird reason the giant student was holding onto the banner yelling out. " Hexside rules! "

" Oh, no! Come back! " Luz yelled as she ran up while Evan didn't feel the same vibe. " Yeah...no...There they go... "

" Why didn't you guys board the bus? "

Willow smiled over to them both. " We weren't going to leave you behind. "

" I was. "

" Gus... " Willow elbowed the said warlock in the side.

" Can we walk to Glandus? " Luz asked.

" We'd never make it in time. Glandus is... " Gus did a few motions with his flags pointing outwards. " All the way out in the middle of the island. "

Luz scoffed rolling her eyes. "Typical Glandus. "

" You've never even been there though... " Evan commented glancing over at Luz.

" And my parents are working, otherwise I'd see if they could give us a ride on their staff. "

" Well guys, we don't have to go the game, we could always just improvise. " Evan suggested but Luz quickly spoke up. " Actually hold that though, I can get us a staff. " She then slowly turns her head over to Evan and as did Willow and Gus.

" No. " Evan had said that one two letter word for who knows how many times on their way back to the Owl House. He's used it show much he lost count.

" Evan please! " The three of them said all at the same time. He turned to the trio leaning in very close narrowing his eye while they leaned back. " For the last time, read my lips! N-O. No! "

" C'mon it'll just be this one time! "

" Luz, Owlbert's not a taxi... he's another one of my moms 'precious's' right next to me. "

" Okay, okay understandable. " Luz said and gained another idea. " Alright. How about this? You do us this favor and we'll owe you in return. "

Evan hummed in interest crossing his arms going into thought. " Not just one, but all of you. "

" Absolutely. "

" Well, I guess it'd only be fair if we did. " Willow agreed while Gus was nervous. " Just please no horror movies. "

" Alright fine. " Evan threw his arms up in defeat and pointed directly at Luz. " But you'll be asking mom for permission to use him. Not me. "

" Deal! " Luz ran into the owl house to go find Eda leaving Evan alone with Willow and Gus.

" So...You looking forward to attending Hexside? " Willow questioned trying to start a conversation with him. " Eh, not really. "

" It's not that bad of a place once you get used it. All newcomers are like that. " Gus joined in before pausing. " Well, except for Luz. "

" And that's the only reason I'm even going. " The one eyed warlock said in a matter of fact tone. " If not, then I'm out. "

" But, we'll still be there... " Willow said hoping that fact would put him more at ease only for Evan to move his right hand a bit. " Eh...I don't think it'd work out. " Hearing this both Willow and Gus exchanged a look of concern which diminished upon hearing the door open.

" To Glandus High! " Luz cried out not knowing she woke up the Palisman. " Oh! Sorry, Owlbert. It's okay. We're just on our way to help some friends. " Both witch and warlock gazed at Owlbert in awe.

" Who's ready to board Air Luz?

" Whoa, whoa. Time time out. " Evan spoke up. " I think it'd be best if I took the reels on Owlbert. "

" Evan come on, I handled Owlbert pretty easily when we were at the conformitorium. "

" Yeah, but you haven't used him since then. " He replied back and turned to the little owl. " You sure you'll be fine with her? " He got a hoot back in response. " Alright. If you say so. " He got behind Luz while the others got behind him.

" Feel that power‐to‐weight ratio. " Willow commented.

" Boys, prepare to fly. " Gus spoke to his flags for some odd reason.

" Next stop, Glandus High. Let's go. " She commanded as Owlbert took into the air getting infront of the eye shaped window. " Step on it, Owlbert. "

" Luz wait don't do th-! " Evan didn't get the chance to finish cause Luz taped underneath the staff making the staff shoot forward and Luz had no control. They ended up crashing through the forest, bumping through trees and everything. If things weren't bad enough they crashed falling off of the staff, both Willow and Gus landed on some bushes, Luz's sweater got caught on a branch making her fall bearable which didn't last cause Evan had landed right on top of her.

What they didn't know was nearby, Owlbert landed on his head and groaned in pain seeing a crack had formed.

Luz groaned as she got up. " Is everyone okay? Huh? " She turned over to Owlbert, and watched as he twisted himself off detaching himself from the staff.

While this happened, Evan finally regained his senses and his eye widened in shock. " Owlbert wait! " Evan tried to call out to him but the palisman ignored him and continued flying off and could only watch as he flew up into the tree line.

" Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no! Owlbert, come back! " He ignored her plead, and nearby Evan slammed his right knuckle into the ground and sprung himself back up onto his feet.

" I hope you three are happy now! " Evan shouted out on the top of his lungs angirly as he gave chase while the others followed after him. The chase went on for what almost seemed like forever and

" Man, humans can run. " Gus commented. " Must be their dorsal fins. "

" He went through those trees. Come on. " Before she could go inside Willow stopped her. " We have to be careful. It's really easy to get lost in this part of the forest. "

" This is Eda's Palisman, Willow. "

" And a member of my family... " Evan firmly said as he pushed past them walking forward. " If we don't get him back, I will never speak to either of you again! "

" Evan we didn't mean to- "

" Save it, let's just get this over with... " Evan didn't let Willow finish what she was trying to say much to their shock and surprise as they followed him inside. As they entered, there was a large amount of crunching noises being heard.

" Wow. I keep stepping on a lot of crunchy twigs. "

" Those are bones, Willow. " Luz said making the witch look up above. " Not if I never look down. " After she said that something flew right by them, they didn't see what it was but whatever it could've been it could move.

" This isn't any kind of forest I'm used to. " Luz said as she poked a large amount of webs. " That's because this isn't a forest. " Willow said making the group look down to see three humanoid bat like children walking towards them. " It's a nest. "

" Hmm? Luz don't these three look familiar? " Evan asked getting a nod from her. " Yeah, I remember. There Bat Queen's babies. "

The babies then screeched and upon hearing the name, Gus and Willow grew fearful.

" Wait. The Bat Queen? " Gus questioned as they backed up into a large web behind them. " I think I'd rather take my chances with Eda. "

" The hell you are! " Evan snapped back at them. " We started this together and we're seeing it through! "

Luz knelt down holding out the staff. " Uh, we're looking for a little owl and‐‐ There he is. " Upon being spotted the little owl whimpered in fear backing away a bit.

" Oh geez... " Evan saw the crack on his head and how scared he was. " Owlbert I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let them used you like that. " Evan said getting a knee looking the palisman in the eye. " I mean it from the bottom of my heart, I do. So please, come back home with us. "

As he said this something had landed on the ground making it shake, Evan got back back onto his feet locking eyes with none other then Bat Queen herself.

The large bat hissed upon seeing Luz. "Hello, small human." She looked over to Evan. " And hello to you as well, Devil Eye. "

" I-i-it-It's the... "

" Bat Queen. I know. " Luz finished Willows stuttering sentence. " We kinda babysat her kids once. Don't worry. I got this. Hiya, BQ. My, your hair is looking greasy. And your kids... " She chuckled. " they're as hideous as ever. "

" You know, that could've gone worse. " Gus said but hearing this made the Bat Queen growl making Evan sigh as he stepped forward.

" Bat Queen, the whole reason this happened was because my friends wanted to ride my mothers staff. Something of which I regret now letting them do... " He said glancing a quick glare at them. " But, understand, they never intended to hurt him, nor did I desire for him to be hurt at all. "

" I am aware. He told me all. " Bat Queen started. " To be careless with a staff is very serious. Your mother was careless and so were you. However, he forgives you. But not human girl. " Suddenly Bat Queens eyes glowed bright yellow as did Owlbert's.

" Owlbert, I never meant to hurt you... " Luz said as she got on a knee. " Please trust me. " The owl hooted as he flew up and landed on Bat Queens head. For a brief moment there eyes glowed yellow.

" Trust must be earned... " Bat Queen said as she and her babies flew up backwards, landed on a rock with a large amount of treasure behind her. " Through...trials! "

As she said this fire sprouted out from three rocks on the ground lighting up the nest giving it some light.

" Trials? " Gus grew excited and slowly started to wave his flags.

" Luz, the Bat Queen is well‐known for her impossible trials. I've never heard of anyone winning against her. "

" But I have to get Owlbert back. " She turned around to face her and glanced over to Evan who had his arms crossed waiting for her awnser. " I accept your challenge. "

" And we'll be right there with you. " Willow said with Gus backing her up. " Let the flags raise you up. " As he said this the two of them were ensnared by webs. While Evan sat down crossing his legs.

" You don't have worry about me. I won't be helping this time. " Evan said in a blunt tone.

" Good to hear, no helpsies for her. " Bat Queen said raising up her wings making the flames shoot up. " Now, let the trials begin! " She gave Luz her first trial by giving her a bucket.

" Milk the spider demon. " The said demon was apparently the islands variant of cows with an utter and all making Luz shutter a bit and glanced over at Owlbert who titled his head and Luz grew more determined to finish the trial.

" All right. Come here, pal. Let's do this. " As she tried to reach for an utter the spider jumped over her and started running away. " If you run you'll just make this harder for yourself! " After a while of chasing and making the spider tire itself out she milked it while the whole time Evan covered his eyes shaking a bit.

" Wait, Evan are you-? "

" Please be quiet. " Evan told Gus as the first flame extinguished and Bat Queen gave her second trial.

" Remove bees nest. " She pointed to a large tree where there was a nest hanging on a branch. So Luz climbed up high enough to where she could knock it down. But immediately the nest turned out to be a head of an actual bee monster spooking Luz off of the tree and started to chase her around.

As this happened, Gus was using his flags to try and free himself with his flags.

" Come on. Almost got it. " He succeeded. " I am free! Bat Queen. You will rue the day you tried to trap‐‐ Ah! " Batqueen merely trapped him once again, making him hang up making all of his efforts wasted.

The second flame was put out and the Bat Queen gave Luz her final trial. " Give babies a bath! "

The trio watched on as Luz struggled to clean the three bats who were biting and struggling a bit.

" Go, Luz! " Willow cheered her friend on while Gus looked over to Evan. " Evan why aren't you helping? "

" Yeah. If you cut us free. We can get Ed. "

" Not happening. Luz has to do this. "

" What!? "

" No, guys Evan's right! " Luz said as she strained to wash the babies. " I was selfish and I hurt Owlbert. I need to do this alone so he knows I care about him! " She picked up the half a barrel full of water and splashed the them finishing the job. For a brief moment they were adorable before becoming monsters again. Afterwards the third flame was put out and Gus managed to break his restraints.

" Yes, I am free again! " The warlock cheered landing on his hands upside down only for him to get ensnared for a third time making him groan in annoyance.

" Okay, Bat Queen. " Luz said grabbing the staff and wiped sweat off of her brow. " That's the last one. I've done all your chores. And I've proved my dedication to Owlbert. " She walked up to the palisman. " I'm so sorry for the pain I caused you, Owlbert. I promise to be more careful. Will you come back home? "

The little owl hooted nodding his head and flew down to her. As it all seemed like it was finished, Bat Queen raised up her talon ensnaring Owlbert.

" No! More trails. Last trial. You must face me. " A larger flame erupted from behind the Bat Queen much to Luz's surprise. " What? " She didn't get any time to react as the large bat roared flying over at Luz only to be stopped by a barrier.

" This wasn't part of the agreement Bat Queen! " Evan said getting back up onto his feet. " Luz did your trials fair and square! Let Owlbert go!

" You will never get him back! " The bat roared as she broke through it flying over to Evan who rolled to the side.

" Luz, get us out. We can help! " Willow called out and quickly Luz rushed over to free her and Gus. " Look out! " Right behind them the bat babies were all snarling and flying towards them.

" I'll hold 'em off with my flags! " Gus cried out and drew there attention and started flapping around him and Willow. " No! That was a bad plan! "

Back with Evan he made a spell circle shooting a large fireball that was easily knocked back by bat queen and started to go after Luz who went through some trees to make a run for it with Evan running as fast as he could to catch up to them.

" I won't let you imprison Owlbert! " Luz cried out as she was using the staff to try and swat her away, and didn't pay attention to her footing causing the human girl to trip getting caught in some vines.

Bat Queen roared as she flew down and all Luz could do was hold up the staff to keep Bat Queen off of her. She didn't stay there for very long cause Evan came running up using his magic to make a large wooden hammer that he used to bash the bat off of Luz making her crash into a nearby tree.

" Enough Bat Queen! Don't make me hurt you! " Evan said as he prepared another spell.

" No...I won't yield... " Bat Queen grunted as she tried to get herself up and while that happened Luz gasped upon noticing something on right talon.

" Is that an interlock? " Hearing this made Evan stop and spotted the symbol. " Bat Queen, you used to be on a staff, didn't you? You were a Palisman! " Bat Queen gasped as she got back up on her feet, her eyes widened in shock. " You were once a Palisman, weren't you? "

Bat Queen only raised up her foot glancing at the very same symbol that all Palismans had before closing her eyes looking away now knowing her secret was exposed a secret she had been keeping for a long time.

" Yes, I was once part of a grand staff. A staff made for a giant! But I was broken, discarded. "

" So, that's why you're so protective of Owlbert. " Luz said now gaining a better understanding. Bat Queen then turned around

" I protect... all! " Her eyes glowed bright yellow and as this happened there were dozens of other eyes that came into view glowing away much to Luz and Evans shock, the eyes all belonged to Palismans. There were so many of them, each were all different animals, not just birds, but snakes, insects, frogs and even a monkey with four faces all of them had scars. " I made home in forest. I'm here to take the lost. The forgotten. "

" Bat Queen, we understand now. But Owlbert isn't forgotten, and he never will be. I've known him since I was a baby, he has those that love and care about him very much. "

" He will not go back with you. " Bat Queen said turning around and started walking away.

" That's not your decision to make! "

" No it's not! " Evan finally backed her up. " She earned his trust back and you can't force him to stay! He's coming back home with us! "

" I won't let him! " She replied back and was about to attack with Evan reading a spell circle. But before anything could happen Owlbert landed in front of the duo holding out his wings hooting away as his eyes glowed yellow appearing to communicate with her. " You...You care for them. "

There eyes stopped glowed and Owlbert nodded and hooted turning around to walk over to Luz who kneeled down holding out her hands so she could the owl could be held.

Bat Queen watched as Owlbert warbled rubbing himself against Luz's cheek while Evan gently petted him with two fingers while smiling. " Very well. " Bat Queen admitted defeat. " Go. And take your friends. " Bat Queen motioned just as Willow and Gus came running towards them. A baby was latched onto them, Willow had one on her shoulder, while Gus had one on his arm and head. But with a whistle the triplet bats flew back to their mother.

" I don't think I'll ever be clean again. " Gus said as he started to clean himself while Owlbert flew to pick up Eda's staff giving it to Luz.

" Bat Queen, do you know what happened to your owner? "

" It has been thousands of years. " She admittedly sadly. " I've forgotten. "

" If you ever want to search for the truth, I'll help you. "

" And so will I. " Evan added making Bat Queen smile. " Thank you. Before I leave, young warlock, I have something for you. " Hearing this made everyone exchange a look of confusion looking to Evan who shrugged his shoulders. For a brief moment her eyes flashed yellow and everyone watched as a small little palisman resembling a woodpecker came flying by dropping something on the ground in front of him.

He picked it up and inspected the item. It was a some sort of dark blue jewel with a silver swirling symbol around it. Evan's eye widened in surprise knowing exactly what it was." A Warp Key? How did you get this? "

" It was left to me, many years ago. Only a note was left with it. I remember it reading: Should the son of the Owl Lady lady come to me, give this key to him. He'll know what to do with it. "

Evan gained a solemn look listening carefully what was just told to him just now. " Thank you very much Bat Queen. Sorry for the trouble. "

" It is ok. Goodbye for now. " With that said she flapped herself up into the air, her babies holding onto her air and soon she flew off, disappearing into the leaves of the tree they lived in.

" I can't believe you took on the Bat Queen! " Willow said excitedly and hugged Luz.

" And we're not dead! " Gus happily added.

" Thank you for helping me get Owlbert back. I'm sorry we missed the game. "

" Are you kidding? That was better than any grudgby match! " Gus exclaimed. " There were action‐packed trials. I got to do my flag wave, and I'm slightly traumatized. Hooray! "

Luz chuckled at what he said and looked to Owlbert who was perched on her shoulder. " Let's get this little guy home. " Luz said happily while Evan starred down at the gift Bat Queen had just given him, his expression showed he was deep in thought.

With the whole mess sorted out, they arrived back at the Owl House. After arriving, and apologizing to Evan, Willow and Gus departed and started making their way back home.

On the couch, Luz was peeling a bandage gazing at Owlbert. " And now you're a part of the boo‐boo buddy club. " Luz said as she placed the band-aid directly on the crack on Owlberts head. The little owl hooted, most likely as a way of saying 'thank you.'

" Owlbert? " Luz grew fearful upon hearing the familiar voice and turned around to see Eda had just entered with King behind her. " Why are you off the staff? " Owlbert hooted as he flew over to Eda land on her shoulder and warbled.

" Luz took you to get ice cream? Aw... That's a horrible lie. " Eda said glancing over to her student who gulped nervously at the scolding she was going to get.

" Well, lucky for you both I don't care right now. I'm going to take a nap. "

" I'll, uh... be at the playground. " King said walking off leaving Luz by herself before Owlbert came flying onto her shoulder. " We'll keep this one to ourselves, shall we? " The palisman warbled in response nodding his head. Just then Evan exited out of the kitchen going to the stair well.

" So Evan? What makes that Warp Key so special? " Luz asked but Evan just ignored her and went up the stairs. Luz sighed already knowing what was happening, and rushed up the stairs to catch up to him.

" Evan? " He kept walking and ignoring her. " Evan? Evan wait! " She finally stopped him by grabbing his wrist making the devil eye turn around revealing he was not in a very good mood. " Evan, c'mon talk to me. "

" Luz, just leave me alone for a bit. I need a little time to myself. "

" L-Look, Evan I'm sorry okay? I really mean it, but everything's okay now. We got Owlbert back. "

" No it's not. " Evan shook his head. " I already forgive you for what happened. " For a moment he paused before continuing. " Luz, I have been supportive of you since the day you arrived and I always had your back. I went on a fake quest with you, despite it turning out to be a plotted ambush because you lacked confidence. I snuck in a school where you almost got dissected. You took my mothers elixir ignoring what I said. You convinced me to hold a moonlight conjuring that nearly cost my home. And I was stupid enough to actually let you convince me to let you use Owlbert just so you could impress Willow and Gus, where we nearly lost him. "

" Evan I'm sorry, but what's the big deal? It always worked out in the end. "

" That might be true, but your missing the point. "

" How am I missing the point? " Luz was confused. " Because your playing! " Evan suddenly snapped at her much to the human girls shock, since he'd never done it before. " Luz you do not taking anything serious at all! "

" What!? I do take things seriously! "

" Hardly half the time. " The one eyed warlock retorted. " The isles is nothing like your world at all. And already there's been plenty of times where you nearly got yourself hurt and even killed. How do you think I'd feel knowing if something happened to you, huh? "

" Evan, I don't try to make you worry on purpose. I swear! "

" Oh yeah? "

" I do. "

" When the last time you did something and not think on ahead? " Evan asked crossing his arms. " When was the last time you ever considered what if things don't go as planned and the possible end result that could very well possibly effect those that care about you? You name me one time and I'll take it all back. "

For a moment Luz was about to anwser but stopped lowering her head down in shame.

" Uh-huh. I didn't think so. " Evan said before walking off into his room closing the door behind him leaving Luz with a lot to think about what he just said.

That same night Evan had finally went to sleep, but something was very wrong as he was tossing and turning like crazy.

Inside his dream, the one eyed warlock was walking through some sort of hallway only lit with torches on the walls and at the very end of the hallway was a large fogged up mirror.

Slowly and with very little hesitation he walked up to the mirror and drug his right hand across it.

After clearing off the mirror he saw something was right behind him. He quickly turned around to confront whatever it was. However upon turning around, whatever was there just vanished.

Evan turned around and gasped in shock because something was wrong with his reflection. His blind left eye was glowing bright red and something curved was stuck out of his head. Then without hesitation his reflection sprung out emitting some sort of ungodly shriek making Evan freak out immensely.

Evan shoot up awake and fell face flat onto the floor. " Ouch... " He grunted getting himself up and headed into the bathroom quickly turning on the faucets and slashed some hot water onto his face.

While drying himself off he gazed at his reflection in the mirror. Whatever was in his dream was still fresh in his mind lowering his head down sighing a bit in confusion, lifting up his eye patch, and saw that it was still clouded indicating it's blindness before glancing down at his hands.

" The hell was that? Crazy..." He muttered to himself as he exited out of the bathroom turning off the light as he made his way back to his room, he was unaware that for a brief moment, underneath his eyepatch, his blind left eye for a moment gave of a brief glint of red.

Well, everyone hoped you enjoyed the chapter and a heads up. The next one is gonna be something original, that's been bound to happen for some time now. This thing might not've ended the way some of you thought it normally would and how I cutted out all the important stuff with King and Eda especially when she discovered a horrible revelation.

But that's just how it is. And for the record, no matter what happens in the series itself as season 2 progresses, it won't affect this story any bit. Be it if 'Lumity' becomes more of a thing. I don't, and still wouldn't care. And I'm telling that those that think I'm homophobic just for making my story the way it is.
