Carmilla arrived home and saw Odette with an ice pack on her head.
"What happened? Where's your sister?" Carmilla asked.
"She went to the princess' hotel because Vaggie is there." Odette said.
Carmilla's eyes went wide at that.
"What!? Why didn't you call and tell me!?"
"Because I just came back to life after getting shot in the fucking head!" Odette said, pulling out the bullet that put a hole in her head.
Carmilla mumbled words in Spanish that made Odette blush.
'Those are not words a lady should say.' Odette thought.
Carmilla started to walk towards the door.
"I'm going to go get her."
"I... wouldn't." Odette said, "She's trying to reconnect with Vaggie, if you show up, there's a chance that this could push Vaggie away, as well as Clara."
Carmilla almost had the door handle when she stopped. She hadn't thought of that.
"... Where did I go wrong?" Carmilla asked.
Carmilla thought back to when she was helping Vaggie after they found her.
Carmilla sighed as she saw the fallen angel sleep. Her back was stitched and her missing eye was wrapped up. The bleeding stopped, thankfully... but not before they collected some in order to study it. Carmilla knew she would have to keep this information a secret, otherwise everyone would be jumping at the bits to attack the injured angel.
"How is she?"
Carmilla turned and saw her daughters. She closed the door to the room and motioned for them to follow her. They went to Carmilla's room and began talking.
"I'm unsure of what truly happened to her, but her injuries are starting to heal." Carmilla said.
"Good." Odette said, "She spared us, it would feel wrong if we didn't return the favor."
Carmilla looked at the spear Vaggie had, grabbing it and inspecting it.
"This is one of the best weapons I've seen." Carmilla said, "I've seen many angelic weapons, but this... it feels different."
"I wonder where Angels get them." Clara said.
"We make them."
They turned and saw Vaggie, leaning against the doorframe.
"You should be resting." Carmilla said.
"I've rested enough." Vaggie said.
"I beg to differ."
Carmilla walked over to Vaggie and began to lead her back to bed.
"So you made this spear?"
"Yes, all Exorcists are taught on forging and training with weapons." Vaggie said, "I can tell you more about it if you want."
"Why are you so willing to tell me about the tactics of you and your sisters?" Carmilla asked.
"... They're the ones that took my eye and wings."
Carmilla went pale for a bit.
'What kind of monsters would do something like that?' She thought.
"Well, then... I guess I won't be looking for a way to get you back to Heaven." Carmilla said, "So, how about we make a deal then? You can stay as long as you'd like, but you have to help my daughters and I with our business."
Vaggie was always told to never make deals with demons... but... fuck it, she was already in hell, she might as well.
"Okay, I'll do it."
"Mother?"
Carmilla looked over and saw Odette.
"Sorry, just... thinking." Carmilla said, getting away from the door, "I'll be in my room."
Carmilla walked up the stairs, leaving Odette standing there, unsure of what to really do.
At the Hotel, Vaggie was at the bar, drinking.
"Well, looks like someone is having a rough day." Charlie said, sitting next to her, "Everything okay?"
"Yeah, just... some memories popping up." Vaggie said.
"Good or bad?"
"... Both." Vaggie said, "There was a lot of good things that happened in my past, and a lot of bad. I'm not sure what weight more in that though."
"You never really talk about your past." Charlie said, "You always said you were ashamed of it. Does it have to do with our new guest?"
"Kind of." Vaggie said, taking another sip of her beer, "Shit was crazy."
"I'm here if you want to talk about it, I won't judge you." Charlie said.
Vaggie stayed quiet and Charlie got up and started to walk away, having played this game a lot in the past year. Vaggie didn't talk about her past, and Charlie was pretty sure that she would never know anything about Vaggie.
"... I'm a fallen angel."
Charlie stopped and then looked back at Vaggie with wide eyes. Vaggie chuckled a bit.
"Yeah, I expected the silence." Vaggie said, "I... did something that... something I thought was the right thing to do. Next thing I know, I'm missing an eye and my wings."
Charlie walked back over and sat back down.
"Those scars on her back, those-"
"Were from when my wings were ripped off." Vaggie said, "I was left for dead in an alleyway. I was pretty much waiting for a sinner to come by and finish me off... Carmilla and her daughters came by, and... they helped me. They healed me, and... I worked for them for a while."
"So... that's why you know them." Charlie said.
"Yep, but... helping make and sell weapons for them... a lot of people died because of what I did." Vaggie said, "After a massive argument, I left... and that night... I met you."
Charlie understood a lot more about why Vaggie doesn't talk about her past. Charlie kissed her cheek.
"Thank you for telling me." Charlie said, "If you don't want to talk about it more, I won't push for it."
"Thanks." Vaggie said, "You head to bed, I'll be up as soon as I finish my drink."
Charlie nodded and headed upstairs. As soon as she was gone, Vaggie frowned. She left out a LOT of details, such as her adoption, the fact that she's personally met every current Overlord, the fact that she was an exorcist. She's lucky Alastor was missing during the time she was in the meetings with her mother, otherwise he most definitely would've told Charlie about it before she could.
'I don't know if I'll ever have the strength to tell you the full truth, but hopefully this will be enough.'
