And the prologue is finally here!
My god, the concept for this fanfic has been all over the place since I posted the intro, at least for me anyways. Every time I tried to finish this stupid prologue, I would end up not liking the direction I was taking and scrap it altogether and start fresh. I really hope it was worth it.
Hope you guys enjoy this prologue. Comment out any mistakes I've made here or anything that doesn't make sense lore-wise. Could be that I've mistaken something while researching any additional information.
Also to point out, this will be the final chapter I will post for most of my fanfics before going back to college. I might still work on them when I find the time.
I'll see you all next time.
BYE!
Prologue
High up in the sky and outside the Earth's atmosphere are a whole armada of battleships, a few smaller airships, and a few slightly larger ones. And they're all surrounding the giant space station in the middle of its armada: The Death Egg. One of the largest and most dangerous weapons ever used for the mad scientist Dr. Eggman's world-conquering schemes. Speaking of which, Eggman was on his way to the main control center of the Death Egg. As soon as he walked into the bridge, he called out to two of his well-known lackeys, "Orbot! Cubot! Status reports!"
Two small hatches, a cubed one and a circle one, opened up on the main console and popped out two small-shaped robots. One of the two robots, Orbot, is a diminutive robot with a round head composed of a hemispherical cap with a smaller black semi-sphere under it for a lower face. His lower face can separate to reveal a cover, representing his mouth, and he has two gray-framed and pupil-less eyes. He also has a ball joint for a chest and red gloves for hands. His arms and back consist of two thin bars that are joined by a ball joint. His lower body is a small semi-sphere with a gray inside and a ball joint connecting it to his back.
The other robot, Cubot, is also a diminutive robot, but slightly taller than Orbot. He has a black square head with a flattened, yet wider yellow square cap on top and a larger black square on the bottom, the latter of which resembles a jaw. His jaw can separate from his head to reveal a light blue cover resembling a mouth. He also has two gray-framed and pupil-less light blue eyes. His chest consists of a smaller yellow cube and he has yellow gloves for his hands. His arms and back consist of two thin gray bars that are joined by a black and yellow ball joint. His lower body is a black open cube with a gray inside and a ball joint connecting it to his back.
"Nothing much to report sir. All systems have been perfectly stabilized." Orbot said.
"And what about our... special guest?" Eggman asked.
"Still in the recovery chamber, sir. But he's ready to be woken up. Though, I don't think he'll be too happy about this." Orbot informed the Doctor.
"Yeah, it even sends shivers down my spine by just looking at him," Cubot said.
"We don't have spines, Cubot," Orbot commented.
"Hmm, well. Let's check up on our guest, shall we?"
Eggman walks towards the door to the left, while Orbot and Cubot follow behind him closely. Eggman opens the door, revealing a dark and empty room with the only light source being the large pod at the center of the room. As they walk closer they see a blueish-white hedgehog on the inside of the pod, both his arms and legs strapped with a weird piece of tech shaped like a flipped triangle implanted right dead center of his chest, with veins pulsating around it and the capsule was filled of some weird type of liquid.
"Time to wake him up," Eggman said before pressing a button on the control panel in front of him. Which revealed a small container holding the seven chaos emeralds inside. The emeralds began to glow as their energy was being zipped through a few tubes connecting to the pod itself. The pod begins to shake and electricity begins to surround it. The hedgehog starts to twitch and then also begins to shake and bubbles appear around him. A white fiery glow surrounded his body and his eyes snapped open, revealing emerald green irises. The pod continues to shake sporadically and the glass begins to crack.
Eggman and his two robot lackeys see this and begin to back up, but then they are launched backward by the explosion from the capsule, blinding them with a bright light in the process. The light dies down as Eggman was the first one to stand up. Orbot and Cubot followed suit, with the exception of Cubot whose head fell off his body so Orbot had to hold his head, while said body was 'running' around aimlessly.
The Capsule was completely destroyed, some of the wires still sparking with red electricity, and the blueish-white hedgehog was on his hands and knees breathing heavily. The hedgehog hears the sound of footsteps in front of him. He looks up and sees Eggman looking down at him, smiling sinisterly.
"Nice to see you are finally awake. How are you feeling?" Eggman said.
"W...Where... am I...? Who... Are... You?" Nazo questioned with a bit of struggle.
"Ah! Where are my manners? My name is Doctor Ivo Robotnik, but you may refer to me as Dr. Eggman." Eggman introduced himself. "And those bumbling fools are Orbot and Cubot."
Orbot was trying to put Cubot's head back in his body before both bots heard their names and looked back at Eggman and Nazo. Both of them quickly fixed themselves and waved at Nazo at a distance, with Orbot dropping Cubot's head in the process.
"You're also inside of my Death Egg. And it's a pleasure to meet you, Nazo."
"H-How... do you... know my... n-name...?"
"It's not that hard to know about a being made up of pure negative chaos energy attempting to destroy the whole planet. I've seen you all over the news and your battle with a certain... blue and black rodent to be exact." Robotnik explained.
It was a bit of a hazy memory for Nazo, but he cannot forget to utter defeat from the hedgehog's fused form. Being blasted into nothingness wasn't a pleasant feeling. He manages to remember the names he desperately wanted to forget.
"Sonic... Shadow... I remember them very well..." Nazo says as he slowly stands up on his feet. "And... you brought me... back from the dead?"
"Why of course I did! I wouldn't just let someone like you be thrown away to oblivion. I can see you have much use for me." Eggman said before he thought to himself. 'Even my own genius scares me sometimes from what I manage to achieve. Not that I'm complaining of course.'
Nazo chuckles for a bit before giving Eggman a smug look. "And you think... that I would just submit to you like some sort of slave? Hmph, you really must be gullible to think that I would help you."
Eggman chuckles with a sinister grin on his face, "I was expecting you would say that."
He reaches for a small remote control that was sitting on the console and presses a button on it. Nazo suddenly hears a beeping noise coming from his triangular chest piece and looks at it, noticing it was blinking rapidly. But before he could question it, he suddenly felt an immense electric shock coursing through his body as he began to cry out in pain. The electric shock goes on for a few more seconds while Eggman still smiles evilly, enjoying having a powerful chaos being under his control.
Nazo begins to breathe heavily as he feels every single part of his body feeling numb and weak. He looks at the Doctor with a cold glare, "What did you do to me?!"
"Now now, Nazo. Is this the thanks I get for bringing you back to life? I'm very disappointed in you. I expected you would turn against me after reviving you, thanks to the power of the Chaos Emeralds. But I thought of beforehand in having you on a tight leash once you woke up. And that chest piece I've implanted in you is also to restrict you from using any type of chaos energy." Eggman explained. "Now, care to listen more to my offer?"
It was obvious that Nazo didn't have much of a choice, even though he doesn't want to admit defeat. He looks back at Eggman and nods in response.
"As you can tell, I'm in need of assistance from a being made out of pure negative Chaos Energy and that has a close connection to the Emeralds. How about we make a deal? You help me accomplish my latest and greatest plan yet to conquer Mobius, and in return, I can give you the power boost you need to get revenge and defeat Sonic. What do you say?"
It was a tough choice to make. He could get his revenge against them on his own, and he doesn't trust a man that would keep him from achieving his goal. But on the other hand, the doctor could be of use to him if he played his cards right.
"Alright. And what is this "power boost" that you're referring to?"
Eggman once again gives a wide grin. "Well, I'm glad you asked! Follow me."
Eggman begins to walk back towards the exit with Nazo slowly following behind. They walked up to a slightly small-looking vault door at the end of the hallway. Eggman walked up to a keypad that was next to the door and input the code on the keypad. The door automatically opened revealing a small capsule containing a small, but familiar, red and black ruby. But looking at it closer, the colors were dull and lifeless.
Nazo raised an eyebrow at this, "What are you even trying to show me, Doctor?"
Eggman chuckled, "This little gem is called the Phantom Ruby. One of my badniks managed to find one in one of my facilities in Green Hill two years ago. I began to experiment with this mysterious ruby, and it holds a power unlike any other. Almost matching on par with the Chaos Emeralds. So I used this to my advantage with the help of a certain Jackal in welding most of its powers. But I knew that he wasn't able to handle the Phantom Ruby's fullest potential."
"Interesting. And what can this little rock do to get what I want?" Nazo questioned.
"There's a reason why it's called the Phantom Ruby. It takes control of people's visual and depth perception to feed false information to the brain creating a new reality for them, and creating virtual projections that have mass and form to interact with the world around them. This includes empowering and altering beings or creating illusory places and entities that make it impossible to differentiate between reality and fantasy. Its powers can also warp the fabric of space-time, as well as teleport entities from place to place." Eggman explained before adding, "It can even affect the Chaos Emeralds and Master Emerald as well. It may not be in its most powerful state, but with your help, you can become the most powerful being in the universe."
Now, this caught Nazo's attention. Having an artifact that is even more powerful than the emeralds themselves, he couldn't resist having a smirk on his face; thinking of all the possibilities to destroy Sonic and Shadow. Maybe this Phantom Ruby will give him the power that can go beyond the strength of a god, even more than when he used the negative energy of the emeralds.
"Alright, Doctor. You got my attention." Nazo smirks as his emerald green eyes quickly flashed a red glow.
"Then let's get this show on the road," Eggman said while smirking as well.
