Chapter 2: Disdain
Sasuke's sleek Mercedes-Benz glided through the bustling city streets, its polished exterior catching the glint of the midday sun. He adjusted his designer sunglasses, shielding his eyes as he navigated the sophisticated machine through the urban maze.
As his phone buzzed, Sasuke smoothly answered the call, "Hello?" His voice held the refined tone of someone well-versed in command.
"I'm almost at the office. Have the documents ready for me as soon as I arrive." His tone was assertive.
A pause followed as he listened intently to the voice on the other end. "Yes, tell him it's urgent," Sasuke added, a hint of impatience seeping into his words. "I need those papers on my desk the moment I step in. Understood? Good."
The conversation continued briefly as Sasuke confirmed details and set expectations before his departure. "Alright. See you soon, Karin," Sasuke concluded, a touch of professionalism in his tone. "Make sure everything is set." With a swift motion, he ended the call and refocused on the road ahead.
Moments later, a car pulled up beside Sasuke's, its occupants exuding an air of recklessness. Before Sasuke could react, a bottle of beer sailed through the air, crashing against his car with a splatter of liquid. Instantly, Sasuke's demeanor changed, his irritation bubbling to the surface.
"Fools!" Sasuke seethed, his voice tinged with anger. "You maniacs! Learn to drive properly!" He lashed out, his words a venomous volley aimed at the unruly group in the adjacent vehicle. His composure shattered, replaced by a flash of indignation as he berated the thugs for their reckless behavior.
The thug's vehicle, a battered and imposing sedan, lurched forward and positioned itself directly in front of Sasuke's elegant car. With deliberate intent, the thug abruptly hit the brakes, forcing Sasuke's vehicle to an abrupt halt.
Through the front glass, he caught sight of several figures stepping out of the vehicle.
"Stop that rich snob!" One of the thugs yelled, their voices laden with malice and aggression.
"Out of the car, you jerk!" The thugs' aggressive commands pierced the air, accompanied by a chorus of vulgarities.
Before he could process the unfolding events, the main thug lunged forward, seizing Sasuke by the collar with an iron grip. With a forceful yank, he dragged Sasuke out of his luxury car,
"Get out, you stuck-up brat!" The main thug barked, his voice dripping with menace as he gestured aggressively, signaling Sasuke to exit the vehicle.
As Sasuke was forcibly pulled out of the car, a whirlwind of aggression surrounded him. The main thug, his grip still firm on Sasuke's collar, leaned in with a threatening sneer.
"Listen here, rich boy," the thug snarled, his words dripping with venomous disdain. "We've had enough of your kind in our territory. If we see your face again, you'll regret it. Got it?"
The other thugs chimed in, their voices laden with hostility. "You think you're better than us, huh? Well, remember this encounter next time you wander around here!" Their taunts echoed amidst the bustling city sounds, a stark contrast to Sasuke's poised demeanor.
Sasuke, though seething with indignation, maintained a stoic silence, his expression a mask of controlled anger. Unable to retaliate against the overwhelming numbers and threats, he clenched his fists in frustration.
As the thugs released their hold and retreated to their vehicle, Sasuke watched them vanish into the urban chaos, his jaw set in a firm line.
As the thugs' car peeled away, with a keen eye and a calm demeanor, a figure silently noted the details of the escaping vehicle—the license plate number, a crucial detail that glinted in the fading sunlight. This observer, obscured by the urban backdrop, memorized the sequence of letters and numbers with a sharp focus, committing the information to memory.
The mysterious figure sat hunched over a keyboard. The soft tapping of keys reverberated in the enclosed space as the figure meticulously entered the license plate number into a search engine, navigating through databases with practiced ease.
The screen flashed with information—the address of the thugs who had menaced Sasuke. Swiftly transcribing the crucial details onto a scrap of paper, the figure folded it neatly, clasping it firmly between their teeth.
Emerging into the bustling street outside, the figure mounted a sleek motorcycle, the roar of its engine breaking the urban silence.
Arriving at the address , scrawled on the paper, a huge mansion, the figure parked the motorcycle with a smooth flourish, the engine's hum fading into the background. With a swift motion, they retrieved the paper from their mouth, unfolding it to confirm the details of the location
The figure stood before the door of the building, pressing the doorbell firmly. Moments later, the entrance swung open, revealing the thug from the earlier altercation, his scowl deepening as he eyed the unexpected visitor.
"Who the hell are you?" the thug growled, his voice a rough demand.
The figure's gaze bore into the thug, unwavering determination resonating in their eyes. "You're Mizuki, aren't you?" they asked, the words laced with a hint of authority.
Suspicion clouded the thug's expression, his eyes narrowing as he regarded the stranger. "What's it to you?" he retorted, a defensive edge to his tone.
In a swift move, the figure brandished the paper with the car details, thrusting it forward. "This car," they pointed out, their voice stern, "it's yours, isn't it?"
The thug's eyes flickered over the details on the paper, a momentary glint of recognition crossing his face before he gruffly admitted, "Yeah, what about it?"
As the door widened, the stranger stepped forward, concealed beneath the shadowy silhouette of an unruly mop of yellow hair. His piercing blue eyes held a steely determination, gleaming with a silent resolve in the dimly lit corridor.
His attire exuded an air of rebellion and ruggedness, the faded leather jacket draped over his broad shoulders, Beneath the weathered outer layer, a faded black t-shirt, Worn jeans, torn slightly at the knees.
Naruto brings down metal rod he was carrying onto Mizuki's head. Because of the sudden hit Mizuki falls on the ground onto his butt , checks his forehead where he was hit was bleeding. All the companion thugs rush to his help. Naruto swung the metal rod he was carrying with all his strength, aiming for Mizuki's head. The rod connected with a loud thud, sending a jolt of pain through Mizuki's skull. He staggered back, clutching his forehead, where blood was trickling down his face. He fell on his butt, groaning in agony, as his companions rushed to his aid.
"What the hell, man? Are you crazy?" one of them shouted, glaring at Naruto.
"Get him, get him!" another one yelled, grabbing a nearby chair and hurling it at Naruto.
Naruto dodged the chair, barely avoiding the impact. He held the rod firmly, ready to strike again.
The thugs charged at Naruto, their faces twisted with rage and fear. They swung their fists, knives, and bats at him, hoping to overpower him with their numbers. But Naruto was faster, stronger, and smarter than them. He used the metal rod as a weapon, blocking, parrying, and striking with precision and force. He also used his agility and reflexes, dodging, jumping, and kicking his way through the mob. He knocked out one thug after another, sending them flying across the room or crashing to the floor.
Naruto looked around the room, surveying the aftermath of the fight. The thugs were laying on the ground, groaning in pain, some of them unconscious, some of them bleeding. The furniture was broken, the walls were dented, and the floor was littered with debris.
One of the thugs, who was still conscious, looked at Naruto with fear, He gathered his courage and asked, "Who are you?"
Naruto's eyes fell on a gold fish that had fallen from the broken aquarium, flopping helplessly on the carpet. He quickly found a plastic bag, filled it with water, and scooped up the fish. He tied the bag and held it gently in his hand, hoping the fish would survive. All this while having a gentle smile on his face.
Naruto glanced at the thug, his smile widening. He held up the plastic bag with the gold fish, as if to show off his prize. He said, "I am Naruto, Sasuke's friend."
Naruto tucked the plastic bag with the gold fish under his arm, ready to leave the place. He was about to head to the door, when he noticed some thugs still standing on the second floor, watching the scene from a safe distance. He frowned, wondering why they hadn't joined the fight.
He asked them, "Who are you guys? What are you doing there?"
The thugs exchanged glances, trying to come up with an excuse. One of them spoke up, "We're... we're Mizuki's friends."
"Yeah? Yeah , that's right. We're... we're his friends."
Naruto's eyes widened, displaying mock surprise. He said, "Oh, really? You're his friends? How are you his friends, what kind of friends are you when you let me beat him up like this?"
He then proceeded to beat them up, until all of them were lying on the bruised and battered.
Naruto was sitting in a cell, wearing his unruly attire. He had a toothpick in his mouth, and a plastic bag with a gold fish in his hand. He looked bored and restless, as if he was waiting for something.
He then heard a familiar voice, and his face lit up with a smile. He said, "Sasuke! You're here!"
He spat out the toothpick, and jumped up from the bench. He ran to the cell door, and saw Sasuke signing some papers at the reception desk. He said, "Sasuke, hurry up! Let's go!".
He then saw a police constable walking towards him, holding a key. He said, "Hey, you. Open the door. Open the door, now."
The constable unlocked the cell door, and opened it.
Naruto ignored the constable. He ran to him, and hugged him. Sasuke reluctantly hugged him back, and then tried to move out of the embrace.
Naruto raised his fist, and both do the fist bump, He then bumped his fist against Sasuke's fist, a little harder than necessary. Sasuke felt Naruto's fist, and winced.
As they approached Sasuke's car, his words were laced with a coldness that conveyed his frustration. "Say whatever you want, but I won't keep you with me. Because of you, I had to come to the police station. Nonsense."
Sasuke moved to open the car door, However, before he could claim his seat, Naruto swiftly slid into the driver's side, gesturing for Sasuke to sit beside him.
Annoyed and exasperated, Sasuke's frustration grew. He hesitated for a moment, contemplating his next move, before relenting and begrudgingly taking his place in the passenger seat next to Naruto.
Once settled, Naruto reached for the car's dashboard, cranking up a heavy metal song that grated harshly on Sasuke's ears. The discordant melody added to Sasuke's annoyance, his agitation evident as he slammed the car door shut.
Naruto, seemingly unperturbed, started the car with a reckless acceleration that sent a jolt through Sasuke. The sudden burst of speed caused Sasuke to grip the seat, his frustration boiling over as he braced himself against the car's forceful movement.
Naruto sped up the car with a carefree demeanor, a cigarette wedged between his fingers. He extended the cigarette towards Sasuke, who hesitated for a moment before accepting it.
"Whatever you say, I won't keep you with me," Sasuke asserted, a firmness underlying his tone. "I'll give you whatever you want. You can go and do some business on your own."
Naruto, seemingly indifferent to Sasuke's words, continued driving recklessly, the wind tousling his unruly hair as he let out a careless laugh. Sasuke, growing increasingly agitated by Naruto's disregard, tossed the cigarette out of the window before addressing him directly.
"Hey, I'm talking to you," Sasuke called out, his voice tinged with frustration and urgency, attempting to break through Naruto's seeming indifference.
"Check your appearance. I can never call you my friend," Sasuke spat out in disgust, feeling repulsed by Naruto's demeanor.
Seemingly indifferent to Sasuke's words, Naruto took an abrupt turn at a roundabout, careening onto the road with an unsettling lack of concern. Despite Sasuke's growing discomfort and agitation, Naruto continued driving recklessly, disregarding traffic regulations and causing chaos on the road.
Sasuke's revulsion intensified as he turned to Naruto, his voice dripping with disdain. "I always feel disgusted whenever you're near me. You're dirty. If you stay with me, not only me but my company would also lose its reputation."
Suddenly, Naruto careened into a line of red traffic cones, veering into the wrong lane where vehicles approached from the opposite direction. The car, now navigating abrupt turns and erratic movements, sent Sasuke lurching uncomfortably within the vehicle, struggling to maintain balance.
"Stop! This is the wrong lane! Hey, Naruto, apply the brakes!" Sasuke's panic surged as he tried to regain control of the situation.
Naruto's response was far from reassuring. "Brakes? Where are they?" he retorted casually, a hint of amusement in his voice.
In a state of panic, Sasuke questioned Naruto, his voice tinged with disbelief, "You don't know driving?"
"Nah, this is the first time," Naruto admitted, laughing carelessly as the situation escalated, leaving Sasuke in a state of shock and dread. The car's reckless movements and Naruto's nonchalant attitude painted a picture of impending disaster, causing Sasuke's apprehension to soar.
Naruto's reckless driving on the flyover reached a catastrophic climax as the car spiraled out of control. Sasuke, jolted by the sudden chaos, found himself hurtling out of the car, teetering dangerously on the edge of the flyover, a sheer drop separating him from the road below.
With lightning reflexes, Naruto lunged forward and managed to grasp Sasuke's hands just in time, preventing him from plunging to the road beneath the flyover. Sasuke dangled precariously, his life hanging in the balance as he struggled to maintain his grip.
"Hey, what are you looking at? Pull me up!" Sasuke demanded, his voice betraying a mixture of panic and frustration.
"I will stay with you," Naruto responded, his tone resolute despite the dire circumstances.
"We'll talk about that later! You don't even have a degree First, pull me up!" Sasuke urged, a hint of desperation in his voice.
Naruto, unwavering in his resolve, produced papers from seemingly nowhere. "Take the degree," he offered calmly.
"Hey, is this the way of discussing?" Sasuke retorted, incredulous at Naruto's unorthodox approach.
"I will stay with you," Naruto reiterated, his unwavering determination unshaken.
Growing increasingly frustrated, Sasuke was about to unleash a torrent of anger. "You—"
"Okay, I agree! Pull me up!" Sasuke interrupted himself abruptly, his tone shifting as a sense of urgency overtook him. "I'll employ you in my company, goddamn it! Pull me up!"
As Naruto managed to pull Sasuke to safety and they both landed on the road, a fit of uncontrollable laughter overtook Naruto. He sprawled on the ground, his laughter echoing like a maniacal burst.
Amidst Naruto's uproarious laughter, Sasuke, visibly frustrated, questioned him. "What's so funny? Why are you laughing like that?"
Still chuckling, Naruto managed to speak between laughs, "You're my best friend. Even if you hadn't agreed, I would've pulled you up." His laughter continued, punctuating his words.
Sasuke, taking a more serious tone, warned Naruto, "But I have one condition. If you prove to be having bad manners detrimental to the company, I'll remove you from it."
In a sudden shift from his laughter, Naruto dramatically sat up, adopting a mock-serious expression. "If I'm proven to be bad, I myself will leave the company," he declared with exaggerated gravity, his voice filled with playful determination.
Naruto, seated with his diary open before him, penned down his thoughts. His words flowed onto the pages: "Now I have to be good with everyone."
After closing the diary, Naruto rose and walked over to a nearby mirror. With a heightened sense of self-awareness, he examined his appearance meticulously. His gaze focused intently on his reflection as he inspected every aspect of his appearance, starting with his unruly hair.
Naruto scrutinized his locks with a dramatic flair, ruffling them slightly to check their disheveled state. He adjusted a few strands here and there, his actions portraying an exaggerated sense of concern over his appearance.
The sound of applause filled the air, as the announcement echoed through the speakers. "And the winner of this year's Best Employee Award is... Naruto!".
The employees cheered and clapped, as they watched Naruto walk up to the stage. He looked different ,he had his hair neatly combed, had glasses on, his white shirt tucked in, his suit and tie fitting him well. He looked like a professional, a successful, a respectable man.
He reached the stage, where Sasuke was waiting for him. Sasuke was the CEO of the company, and the one who had to present the award to Naruto. He looked at Naruto with a blank expression, hiding his resentment.
He took the award from Karin, his secretary, who had brought it to him. She smiled at him, and said, "Present it to your friend Sasuke."
He then turned to Naruto, and handed him the award.
He then received another round of applause, as the employees cheered and praised him. He then stepped down from the stage, and was greeted by his colleagues, who congratulated him. He thanked them, and accepted their compliments. Sasuke walked away, and thought to himself, "I always thought of him as an enemy. I always used to think how to remove him from the company. But he is becoming everyone's favorite".
Sasuke walked away from the hall, where Naruto had received the award. He felt a bitter taste in his mouth, as he tried to ignore the applause and the cheers. He felt a pang of jealousy and resentment, as he tried to forget Naruto's smile. He felt a surge of anger and frustration.
He walked through the corridor, where the employees were busy with their work. He walked past them, without showing any emotion or any weakness.
But as he walked, he heard a voice. He heard a voice that pierced his ears. He heard a voice that belonged to Obito, the HR manager of the company, that was gossiping about him.
He heard Obito say, "Sasuke is nothing, you know. He just wears the title of CEO, Naruto is the one who influences people here. "
Sasuke walked away, took a cigerette out and thought to himself, "Even after having everything, it feels like I have nothing. It feels like this company, this car, even this cigarette, feels like it belong to Naruto. Even when they are mine."
He walked to his car, which was parked outside the building. He opened the door, and got in. He took out a cigarette, and lit it. He then started the car, and drove away.
