A/N: Daisy POV chapter. A slow and short chapter.
Chapter 5: {Some Dreams Feel Real} (updated)
/
(The Next Morning)
Daisy was getting ready for work. The mirror on the dresser was being occupied by Daisy as she compared and contrasted her various options of how she wanted to fix her hair for the day.
She had already showered and had her dark blue short sleeve scrubs on with a black undershirt on underneath, the thin threaded sleeves poked out from the short sleeves of her standard scrubs attire that all the receptionists and nurses wore at the doctor's office.
Her naturally zigzagy blonde hair always took up a lot of her time in the mornings, when she had to go to work or look decent for being out in public. But most of the days that she and Jason would just stay home, she usually didn't even bother with fixing her hair and bundling it up in a ponytail or bun or anything else.
Today she decided to she decided to leave her hair hanging unsupported. Daisy always had her hair cut to the length where it lightly crinkled up as the tips just barely touched her shoulders.
Sometimes, I wish that I wore my hair like this more often. But ponytails And hair-buns have always been my thing.
Having never had asked her lover what his opinions were on the hairstyles that he thought looked best on her, she could only assume. But she had the inclination that Jason liked her hair in its natural, unfixed, disheveled, I just woke up and screw spending any time of my hair, I'm just too lazy to deal with it today type hairstyle.
Thinking of Jason, Daisy shifted in her chair to take a quick look at the sleeping prince charming. He wasn't scheduled to work that day, so Daisy knew that he was probably going to sleep in until around ten or eleven or maybe all the way until twelve.
Daisy smirked.
He'll need all the sleep that he can get, as I plan on the two of us having a little, no, a lot fun tonight.
So rest up Jason, you'll need it.
Jason was completely naked under their blanket. They both had slept nude last night, even though they hadn't fucked. Sometimes both Daisy and Jason only wanted to cuddle and nothing more. Which seemed to be more just fine for both of them. As long as their bodies were close, that was all that mattered to either of them.
Daisy knew that she snored when she slept, as Jason had mentioned to her that he'd heard her snoring on a couple of occasions. And Daisy thought that it was both odd and sweet when he told her that she sounded so cute when she snored, as she snored softly and very quietly.
"You sound so cute when you snore." He had once said to me while we were having breakfast, probably about a year ago now. Don't remember exactly how long ago it was.
Okay? Thanks… I guess… that's uh… sweet of you to say. That's what I remember thinking.
Jason never snored however. Something that Daisy noticed whenever she would get up in the middle of the night to pee. And she didn't understand how someone could be so quiet that you might have never known that they were only a few feet away from you. Jason was so quiet while he slept, that if Daisy didn't know that he was sleeping next to her in the same bed, she would definitely have been startled half to death when she woke up to find some strange man laying next to her.
Sometimes Jason would randomly wake up in the middle of the night and think about things for several minutes before sleep took hold of him once again. Daisy never tried to pry the information out of him about what was going through his head after he woke up from hours of sleeping.
She was currently employed as physician's assistant in a local doctor's office.
Although she didn't have any completed or formal medical education, this in no way made her a hindrance at the doctor's office. As she had interned there as part of a UCLA extracurricular program to provide practical experience for nursing students. And after her mandatory time for the program had ended, the head physician having seen a lot of potential in Daisy, had offered her a job as a physician's assistant. A job that didn't legally require an individual any license to practice nursing or medicine. He had offered her the job with the understanding and implication that Daisy would be hired on full time as one of his nurses once she completed her formal education.
But even after her continuing to leave her nursing education unfinished, the doctor still continued to keep her employed.
Was it because he felt sorry or pity for me after what happened to me? Does he think that if he let's me go, then I will become a hysterical basket-case? Or it as simple as he still finds me useful even without being a real nurse?
Before her misadventures in the Rook Islands two years ago, Daisy had been studying nursing at UCLA for about two years. But after she made it back home, Daisy decided she needed to take go on a hiatus from college. And two years later, her hiatus is still in progress. And while Daisy had always been an excellent student who got A's in every class she took, she just couldn't focus on her education after everything that had happened to her.
Mundane schoolwork weren't enough of an escape from her atrocious memories from the Rook Islands. Unpleasant memories of violence, the heartbreak of losing Grant, and her rape by Jason.
Even though it wasn't his choice to do so, those perverted pirates forced him to either fuck her or they were both getting killed. She didn't hold that against him.
She also rarely, but vividly, sometimes remembered when she had killed that pirate Jay with a knife. Her hands covered in blood. But she never felt any guilt over taking that human life.
And she didn't see those pirates as humans anyway. No sympathy was given to them on Daisy's behalf. Daisy wasn't naive, she understood than during war, there are always two sides to the coin. Both opposing factional parties have both good and bad people in them. Sometimes the soldiers had no choice but to fight, regardless of their personal views and opinions.
But the pirates were different, they chose to be vile commit atrocities. Each and every one of them was a willing combatant, and always made a game out of seeing which one of them could be most cruel. Every pirate always tried to one up their fellow pirates by proving that they could be worse than their competitor. Just like the radical and extreme sadistic units in the Waffen SS that she had learned about when she was a young girl.
So I might be just a little bit of a dork for learning European history. It's not like anyone would ever suspect that of me. Only Jason knows that I'm somewhat of a nerd.
She then thought about her future regarding her furtherance of her education.
Someday, I will go back to school.
Maybe?
Maybe everything is fine just the way it is.
All getting my degree would do for me is allow me to make more money as a nurse. But the two of us are doing fine money wise. We don't live above our means and we don't spend too much.
But I also don't want to keep putting it off until I'm too much older.
Come on Daisy… make up your mind already!
Daisy glanced over at the alarm clock on the nightstand that was next to the side of the bed where she always slept.
She still had about five minutes before she had to leave the house to make it to work on time. But something compelled her to want to lay down beside Jason for those precious few minutes.
And there was the one little thing that she wanted to tell him. And it made her feel awkward and embarrassed, even though it shouldn't have made her feel uncomfortable, but it always did. Daisy always got jitters in her stomach when she thought about bringing it up to Jason.
It was something that she didn't know if he'd already known for a long time, but she really hoped that he did.
Her lightweight body moved silently across the carpeted floor. Fortunately for her, Jason was out cold. She gently laid down as to keep from waking him. She had to resist her desire to cuddle with him as she didn't want to wrinkle her clothes or hair up. And she also didn't want to wake him up.
He was usually a heavy sleeper, and the only things that would rouse him from uninterrupted slumber, were the nightmares that came every now and again.
His nightmares weren't as common as the previously were when Jason had first moved in with Daisy almost two full years ago.
In the first few months after he had made it back to America, Jason had been a nervous wreck. It looked as if he was in conflict with himself over the man that he wanted to be.
No one in Santa Monica, including Jason's own mother, knew the truth about exactly what he had done in the Rook Islands. Only those individuals that had left on the boat, knew the reality of everything that happened.
Jason had the idea to gather all his friends, ex-girlfriend, and his little brother together at the hotel in Indonesia that they stayed at shortly after their escape.
He came up with a story that would both protect him from the public scrutiny and intriguingly poking Jason for a news worthy story. But would also do well to honor his deceased brother Grant. The story that he created lacked specific details, but he must have hoped that no one would ask for all the details.
Grant was the real hero that gave his life to rescue his friends and keep them safe. He had escaped from the pirate's camp, thus rescuing his brother Jason. He then found Daisy after she had escaped from the pirates that were transporting her to another location. And he continued finding and rescuing his friends and finally finding his youngest brother Riley. They all hid from the pirates inside a cave under an old British colonial mansion built in the years after WWI. And they happened to find an abandoned boat down there that must have been left behind by its previous owners a few years ago, but there wasn't any trace of them.
After about a month of fixing the boat, everyone was ready to pilot it out of the cave and find some kind of military or law enforcement that could help them. But unfortunately as the were leaving, a group of pirates had discovered their location and attacked them, attempting to apprehend them, or kill them if they couldn't take them alive. Grant decided to try and fight off the pirates with an assault rifle that he'd kept with him after he took it off the pirate guarding him that he had killed during his escape. The boat was having difficulty with the engine as it wasn't starting. But the hero Grant, managed to keep the pirates at bay until the boat got started. Unfortunately, Grant tried to make his way to the boat as it began to leave but he had been shot to death on his way to the boat. No time to go back for his body.
He had been given a hero's funeral with full military honors. But only an empty casket was buried. Grant's body never made it home.
Daisy laid with her hands underneath her head as she stared at Jason.
Sighing, she began speaking in a whispered and hushed tone as to not wake Jason.
"Hey there prince charming." Daisy gave a short laugh and wore a small smile. "Can I tell you something? Just a little secret?"
Why is it still so hard for me to say this? It's been two years since we've been together. I shouldn't feel so embarrassed to tell Jason this.
"So you know that I love you right? And well… I've always sort of kind of… loved you." Daisy said.
On the right tack to finally tell Jason the way she's felt for a while, Daisy still hesitated.
"Yeah… do the truth is, I guess… is that from the moment that I met you, I think that I fell in love with you. I didn't know that it was love that I had felt at first. For the months after I had met you, I tried to convince myself that it was just some fond feelings that I had for you. But after months of denying how I felt, It became harder and harder for me to ignore that I was in love with you." Daisy came clean.
Realizing that she didn't have much more time to talk to her sleeping boyfriend, Daisy had gotten herself up and sat on the edge of the bed.
She rubbed her face, trying to compose herself.
"I wish that I would have been honest with you. And with Grant. But I kept convincing myself that my feelings weren't real and that I still loved Grant. And I did love him. I was in love with him." Daisy whispered.
Then Daisy sighed. Upset with herself as she thought about her regrets over her having this love triangle that she felt for the two brothers.
"Please don't think that I didn't love Grant, I did, a lot. He always treated me really well, and we had such good times together. And I was in love with him, up until the moment that I had first shook your hand during the double date that you went on with Liza, me and Grant." She continued.
Looking at the alarm clock, she only had one minute before she had to leave. The bright red pixelated numbers of the clock acting as her timekeeper, counting down her inevitable departure, not reuniting with her paramour until she returned home.
Maybe by then, she would muster the courage to tell Jason her embarrassing secret of her history of love for him.
The red digits on the alarm clock changed, and Daisy stood up from the bed. Straightening her clothes as to avoid wrinkling, she took several steps towards the door, but then decided that she had to at least kiss Jason goodbye.
Turning around and silently stepping across the room, Daisy leaned on the bed with her arms supporting her body as she stretched to give herself just barely enough room to reach Jason's head.
Her sweet lips gently and quickly kissed the side of Jason forehead. And because she couldn't resist, Daisy then gave him another kiss, but on his ear.
After her kissing, Daisy moved herself off of the bed. But just as she was ready to go, she heard a quiet voice.
"I knew that you always loved me." Jason said with his eyes still shut, but in a sure of himself tone.
Daisy didn't know for certain, but she thought that she might have had her cheeks flush and blush red in that moment.
"Huh?" Daisy was thrown off guard.
Jason opened his eyes and looked around until he met Daisy's eyes.
Jason chuckled when he looked at her, probably because she had a dumbfounded expression on her face.
"Don't feel embarrassed or ashamed Daisy. You already know how much I'd loved you even before our time on those islands. I've never hid that from you. And I've never stopped feeling that way about you." Jason said in a soothing way.
Daisy wanted to both talk to Jason but also avoid discussing this topic with him at the same time.
"Uh… oh yeah. Maybe we can talk about this more when I get back from work." Daisy said, grateful that she had the convenient exiting excuse of work to get her out of this awkward situation.
"But I got to get going. I don't want to be late." She said trying to make her exit.
"Okay." Jason responded.
She turned around and walked away.
"Hey. Wait up a second." Jason grunted as he quickly jumped out of bed and walked over to Daisy as she stood under the doorframe.
"You're not seriously going to leave without giving me a goodbye kiss are you?" Jason grinned at her.
Daisy responded with a bear hug. Her left ear pressed up against Jason chest as his beard tickled the top of her head.
"I already gave you two kisses. Just check to see if your ear is wet, that will prove it." Daisy giggled.
"Oh no, no, no. That doesn't count you know that." Jason said with giddiness.
"Fine then. Let's make this one count." Daisy planted a big kiss on Jason's mouth.
Giving zero hesitation to take it further when she shoved her tongue in his mouth, letting him taste her minty flavored mouth which was a result from her toothpaste which she used earlier while brushing her teeth.
"Mmwaaww!" Daisy exclaimed in an exaggerated fashion as she pulled her mouth off of Jason's.
"Thanks for brushing my teeth for me." He joked as he put his arms over her shoulders.
"See you later. Love you." Daisy said.
"But don't go, I'll miss you." Jason said with joking puppy-dog eyes.
"Sorry about that. I got to go to work. But you'll be seeing more of me when I get back." She smirked and shocked Jason when she reached down and gave his penis a little squeeze.
"That's all you get for now." She chuckled.
Jason lifted his arms off of Daisy's shoulders. "Alright, I guess you can go. I'm sure that I'll be fine."
"You will be." Daisy grabbed his cheeks and gave him a last kiss on the lips, before departing, waving bye to Jason.
Well at least now Jason's know the truth about how long I've been in love with him.
Now I shouldn't feel embarrassed at that anymore.
Glad I got that off my chest.
Daisy made her way to her sedan that was parked beside Jason's car.
Driving out of the driveway, she made her way onto the road.
As she drove down the largest interstate in Santa Monica, Daisy felt at ease. Happy that she was with Jason.
She knows that he has a good heart, and that all his killing and mayhem on the Rook Islands was only due to his determination to save his loved ones. As well as that wicked woman Citra's influence over him, which he had been broken when Jason chose his friends over Citra.
And she knows that Jason will not ever have to kill again.
As he was safe.
And she was safe.
