Chapter 39: Peace Is Achieved At Last! Rayquaza Returns To Her Slumber!

Michael slowly floated over and picked up the Ultra Ball that Groudon had been caught in and picked it up.

Girls - "He did it!"

The citizens of Sootopolis City cheered as the sky fully cleared, giving Hoenn the peace it deserved. Michael slowly carried Swampert over towards the Pokémon Center, where Nurse Joy wheeled him inside on a trolley.

Nurse Joy - "Both of them will be just fine."

Michael then floated over to Rayquaza and Kyogre, bringing out Groudon to join his sisters.

Michael - "Well Lady Rayquaza. I guess this is the final time I'll see you for now."

Rayquaza - "Yes for now. But when the time comes, I know you'll come seeking me. And again. I do intend to have Delcatty as my opponent."

Michael - "Yes ma'am."

Michael then watched alongside Kyogre and Groudon as Rayquaza flew away, back towards near earth orbit to calmly watch over the planet.

Kyogre - "So now what do we do?"

Michael - "For now. Just relax until my gym challenge."

With that, the party got together in the Pokémon Center and had dinner. After dinner, Michael walked over to the viewing window and sat on the couch. After a few moments, he walked over to one of the rooms he checked in, then back over to the couch with a blanket and pillow.

Twilight - "You aren't sleeping in the room?"

Michael - "No. I want to stay close by to Swampert and Delcatty. Let them both know that I'm here to support them through everything."

Twilight couldn't help but smile at her shared boyfriend showing his concern for his Pokemon. She then walked away, followed by returning with a sleeping bag. Michael then saw that the rest of his girlfriends were doing the same.

Michael - "You girls don't have to stay out here with me."

Clair - "On the contrary Michael. We WANT to keep you company while also helping you make sure Swampert and Delcatty are ok."

Michael - "Thank you then. I'm very grateful."

Soon they all got comfy and settled in, ready for a long night of peaceful sleep. During the following morning, the girls woke up to see that Michael was gone. They returned their sleeping bags to their rooms for the time being. Then they walked over to Nurse Joy at the front desk.

Clair - "Pardon us Nurse Joy. Could you tell us where our friend went?"

Nurse Joy - "Ah you mean Michael. Delcatty and Swampert had fully recovered sometime during the night. Then Michael woke up earlier than you all and took the two of them for a walk around the city."

Weiss - "At least Delcatty and Swampert are ok now."

Flannery - "But then just where are the two of them and Michael?"

? - "I can help you with that answer."

The girls turned to see Steven, along with Lance and Leon, walking over to them.

Weiss - "You know where Michael, Delcatty, and Swampert are?"

Lance - "We do. There's one spot in the city we never got to show you girls due to what was going on at the time."

Ruby - "Where's that?"

Leon - "Wake up the others first. We'll wait for you all outside, then lead you over."

The girls quickly got the rest of the party together. Then they met up with the male Champion trio outside. Soon the girls were led over to the giant tree that was a good distance in front of the Cave of Origin.

Roxanne - "Do you know what this tree is Ina?"

Ina - "No. I had always wondered myself when I was younger. But never bothered to ask."

? - "It's a gift."

The girls looked to see Michael, who was meditating in front of the tree. Delcatty and Swampert then walked over and quickly joined him.

Flannery - "A gift?"

Michael - "That's correct. Roxanne. Due to your position as a teacher, you should know about the Kalos-Galar war that took place 3,000 years, don't you?"

Roxanne - "Yes, I do. Despite the fact that I could explain it, I'll leave that honor to you."

Michael - "Thank you. Now then. 3,000 years ago, Kalos and Galar went to war with each other due to disagreements between the two regions after the empire that was based on Seliosan City of Impome collapsed."

Weiss - "I've read that the empire collapsed due to unknown reasons."

Michael - "That's correct Weiss. Due to the rushed nature of its downfall, both regions constantly disagreed on who would rule the area that made up Kalos AND Galar. As such, both regions made an empire of their own in the vacated land and went into battle."

Michael paused for a second before continuing.

Michael - "The war itself was destructive, taking a major toll on both regions. Several humans and Pokémon alike killed, along with numerous settlements ruined. Both sides were at a constant stalemate. In the midst of all of this, AZ, the king of Kalos at the time, had also lost his dear friend Floette."

Ruby - "I'm sure Floette was his his dearest friend."

Michael had paused before continuing.

Michael - "She was. Along with the fact that she was also a rare kind of Floette as well."

Flannery - "What do you mean by that?"

Michael - "During sometime before I became a trainer, Akira and I, along with our parents, were curious to find out just what kind of Pokémon this Floette was. But to our complete shock, we couldn't find an answer at all."

Leon - "Not a single one?"

Michael - "No. We WERE able to determine that it wasn't a regional form. But as for a divergent form, we couldn't find enough evidence for that."

Lance - "Was this form for Floette given a name?"

Michael - "Yes. The form is called 'Eternal Flower Floette'."

Steven - "I guess this has something to do with the Ultimate Weapon?"

Michael - "You hit the nail on the head Steven. Enraged at the loss of Floette, AZ had set out to build the Ultimate Weapon. In AZ's eyes, the Ultimate Weapon alone would end the war and bring Eternal Flower Floette back to life."

Clair - "But he didn't realize the consequences using the weapon would bring, did he?"

Michael - "Sadly no, he didn't. Due to firing the weapon, millions of humans and Pokémon were wiped out. All to restore the life of Floette. Along with granting AZ with immortal life. But, despite his efforts, Floette was shocked and ashamed of AZ's actions. This in turn caused Floette to disappear, which made AZ become distraught. Afterwards, AZ's brother UZ buried the Ultimate Weapon. But the millions of deaths weren't the only major consequence from the Ultimate Weapon being used."

Bea - "What do you mean?"

Michael - "Several Pokémon species across both Kalos AND Galar disappeared, some of which had migrated out of pure fear. Then you have the nearby Floron Region to the north, which caused the Region to gain Delta Pokémon. The northwestern areas of the Selios Region were completely devoid of Pokémon until a resettlement plan was carried out during the contemporary era. Even in regions like Johto and here in Hoenn, several Pokémon species had disappeared. But that's not all."

Rainbow - "There's more?!"

Michael - "Sadly yes. There is. Leon. You and Bea are familiar with the Darkest Day legend in Galar, right?"

Leon - "Yes, I am. Why do you ask?"

Michael said nothing for a few moments as he let Leon connect the dots.

Leon - "Wait! You're not saying..."

Michael - "...that the firing of the Ultimate Weapon is what caused the Darkest Day to happen in the first place? Then yes, I am. When the Ultimate Weapon was fired, it alerted an alien Pokémon named Eternatus. This also caused Eternatus to crash into what is modern day Mittleford University. Along with the fact that the energy released by Eternatus is the entire reason behind Dynamax and Gigantimax in the first place. However, there's also a bit of good to out of this as well. Gura. Have you ever heard of a pair of Mythical Pokémon named Meltan and its evolved form Melmetal?"

Gura - "I may have heard about it a few times before."

Michael - "Well due to the firing of the Ultimate Weapon, both Pokémon, who had been extinct since the prehistoric period, were brought back to life through its energy."

Ina - "That truly is a good thing then."

Fauna - "Wait a sec. Why is nothing stated about this then?"

Michael - "That's mostly due to ALL records of the Ultimate Weapon's firing being kept secret in Kalos and Galar. However, three other regions actually have their records of the Ultimate Weapon's firing known to the public. These regions are the aforementioned Floron and Selios, along with the third region of Jorigu."

Calli - "But then how does it tie into the tree here?"

Michael - "This tree, called the Great Tree, was a gift from AZ."

Twilight - "It's one way of him wanting to prove to Floette that he's changed."

Michael - "That's correct. And I fully believe AZ is still out there somewhere, waiting for Floette to return to him at last."

Kiara - "Do you think we'll come across him in Kalos?"

Michael - "Yes Kiara. I do. Although the main question is not where, but when. Anyway. That's enough of a history lesson for now. So may I ask while you all are out here?"

Steven - "The girls were worried went they woke up to find you gone."

Michael - "I do apologize for that. I should've left you girls a note before Delcatty, Swampert, and I made our way over here to the Great Tree."

Ruby - "Don't worry about it Michael. We're just happy to know that you three are ok."

Steven - "I also have something for you as well Michael."

Steven walked over and handed Michael a ticket.

Michael - "A Meteor Shower?"

Steven - "That's correct. The event will last for three days, which is also how long we'll extend the Registration period for the League."

Michael - "That's good to know."

As Michael continued to look at the ticket Steven gave him, he quickly realized that something much more sinister could happen during the event as well. Weiss noticed Michael's expression.

Weiss - "Something wrong Michael?"

Michael - "It's nothing Weiss. Don't worry about it."

Weiss wanted to say more, but quickly decided against it for the time being.

Delcatty - "Well what are we waiting for? Let's get over to the gym already!"

Delcatty then suddenly sped off towards the gym.

Michael - "Wait for us Delcatty!"

Michael, Swampert, and the girls quickly ran after Delcatty, while the Champion trio of Lance, Steven, and Leon took their time following the party.
