Chapter 1: Prologue.
Our story opens with an aerial view of a movie studio zooms into a hallway.
MAN (off screen): You're slaughtering me! I'm being butchered! I can't take this torment any more! I'm dying! You're killing me!
The scene fades to an executive's office and we see DUCK STONE, a struggling filmmaker pleading for his career.
Duck: I'm telling you J.R., you're pigeonholing me to death! Comedy, always directing Comedy! Ha ha, Hoo hoo! Hoo hoo! Yack yack! Honest, J.R. – you just gotta let me do my own piece.
Duck flutters his eyelashes at the executive and leans on his desk
JR (off screen): Well, I –
Duck (jumping off the desk): I just knew you'd see it my way, JR! And it just so happens that I have with me the very script that we've been looking for.
Duck pull out a script and pats it.
J.R. (off screen): Yes, but I –
Duck (mutters): Lets see, now where to begin... oh yes! Page 1 (clears throat)
We see the cover page:
Snow White and the Peanuts By: Dumas "Duck" Stone
Duck (reading): Snow White and the Peanuts by Dumas "Duck" Stone.
Duck turns to the next page.
Duck: Chapter 1. Once upon a time – great opening, huh? –
New Scene: The office fade into a storybook where Duck continues narrating.
Duck (voice over): Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom, there lived a brave and noble king and his lovely and kind young queen...who lacked but one blessing to make their joy complete--
The page turns and reveal Snoopy.
Lucy [annoyed and yanked the beagle of the page by his collar: Not you, you stupid beagle. Get out of there!
Duck (voice over): People, please. I'm very sorry, J.R.
J.R. (Voice over): No, no, please continue.
The page turns to a young queen sewing at her window. Duck continues his pitch.
Duck: Ahem, as I was saying before I was rudely interrupted... (Reading) Then one day in the middle of winter, when the snowflakes were falling like feathers from heaven, the good queen sat sewing at her window, which had a frame of black ebony wood. As she sewed, she looked up at the snow and pricked her finger with her needle. Three drops of blood fell into the snow. The red on the white looked so beautiful, that she thought, "If only I had a child with skin fair as snow, lips as red as a rose, and as hair as black as night."
Turn to the next page to see Lucy van Pelt admiring herself like a big ham but Peppermint Patty humbly dragged her off the page.
Peppermint Patty [extremely annoyed: He didn't mean you, Lucy.
Lucy van Pelt: At least my hair is black as night.
Peppermint Patty: How about I give two to match those eyes of yours, get outta there.
Lucy van Pelt [being yanked off the page by Peppermint Patty: Hey wait a minute, I thought I- -. WHOA!
Peppermint Patty [to the Narrator: You may continue, Mr. Narrator.
Duck (voice over): Thank you, Peppermint Patty.
The page turns and see baby Snow White and a saddened king.
Duck (reading): Not very long after that, a beautiful baby girl was born with skin fair as snow, lips as red as a rose, and hair as black as night, and she was named Little Snow White. Unfortunately, when she was born the Queen died. After a year had gone by the King took another wife, a beautiful woman, but so proud and overbearing that she could not bear to be surpassed in beauty by any one.
Page turns towards QUEEN HILDA who is glaring at her magic looking glass.
Duck (voice over): She had a magic looking-glass, and she used to stand before it, and look in it, and utter these words.
Queen Hilda: Slave in the looking glass , come from the deepest depths of space. Through wind and flame I summon thee... SPEAK! Let me see thy face.
Pig-Pen as the MAN in the looking glass, appear before Queen Hilda, dress in a dirty two piece suit and confront her.
Man in the Looking Glass (Pig-Pen): What do you wish to know my Queen?
Queen Hilda: Looking glass upon the wall, Who is the fairest of us all?
Man in the Looking Glass (Pig-Pen): Queen of loveliness, you're the fairest of them all by far.
The Queen laugh with contentment knowing that she's the fairest of them all.
Duck (voice over): Yes, she was contented, for she knew that the man in the looking glass spoke the truth. As long as he said she's the fairest of them all everyone is safe from her wrath for now.
The camera zoom out of the castle as Duck concludes the opening narration.
Duck (voice over): However she fails to reckoned one possible competitor for the title of fairest of them all. Whom, even in infancy show the promise of a beauty... that would one day far outshine the queen's. And that maiden name is...
The Peanuts Gang consists of Charlie Brown, Sally Brown, Linus, Lucy van Pelt, Schroeder, Peppermint Patty, and Snoopy fighting over a roast chicken.
Lucy: Come back here, you! That belongs to me. Give it to me!
Duck (voice over): People! People! Not in front of the audience!
Schroeder: No, you don't.
Duck (voice over; sighing in annoyance): A thousand pardons, J.R.
Sally: Hey, wait for us!
Page turn to reveal the Peanuts Gang greeting Snow White as Duck finishes the prologue.
Duck (voice over): And if by now... you're wondering what on earth the Peanuts gang have to do with the fairy tale of Snow White? It's very simple actually. In this version, we're telling the story of... "Snow White and the Peanuts".
