Mystic Force: Song of the Siren
Prologue
Love was something she never thought she would experience, not when her very being was designed with one purpose- allure.
Her beauty knew no bounds, and would entrance any who would lay their sights on her, and her voice would enchant any who heard it.
Perfection came naturally to her, and though it seemed to be the best thing that can happen to anyone, to her, it was nothing short of a curse.
Everyone loved and adored her, but how much of it did she truly deserve?
Others with the same gift as hers were unbothered and why wouldn't they be when their allure could fulfill all material desire they could ever want?
But she was different, and she had been reminded of that every moment.
Her ancestors were remembered as monsters seducing sailors to their doom, and much of those myths were borne out of wariness and jealousy of their gifts. Her people had stopped trying to prove that they were different, instead leaning into their false portrayal to fulfill their own needs, but as much as she had tried, she could never be like them.
A siren is a being of perfection.
However, what was that perfection worth, if it robbed her of the one thing of the one thing, she truly desired…
She never believed that she would get any real friends, let alone true love… How could she, when she could get people to trust and believe her without earning it?
And her elders had warned her one too many times to mistake the lust of mortals for love.
For sirens, love was an impossibility, even amongst their own kind.
Yet, by a twist of fate, she had managed to find people who enjoyed her company for her mind and heart, not her beauty.
More astonishingly, she had found a partner… a true soulmate, who saw through her allure and did not care for her perfections, instead loving her for her flaws.
Lyra smiled at her husband, a brave and valiant knight who had claimed her heart. A man, unlike any other, and certainly not someone her sisters would have chosen as their mates. While handsome, he was not built like the Greek Gods of ancient times, nor did he have striking features- He was burly and portly, not muscular, and athletic, but that mattered hardly to her, not when his mind was sharp enough to pierce through her allure and his heart full of kindness and infinite love.
"What?" He laughed.
"Nothing." She shook her head, twisting her lips, before taking his hand and standing up, beckoning him to do the same. Their friends looked up from the grass where they were organizing a picnic as she led him a short distance away from them, and placed her arms around his neck. She closed the distance between them, laying her head on his chest and started humming.
Her husband, finally getting a hint to what she was doing, reciprocated without any objection, gently holding her, their bodies swaying against each other, locked in a dance that celebrated their love.
Their friends started to laugh and cheer, and the other couples joined them too.
Nature itself lent a helping hand… a soft breeze blowing against them, and pink flowers showering over them from the canopy that arched over them.
Lyra was happy.
She had everything she had ever wanted.
All she wanted was this dream to last forever.
Yes, I know.
ANOTHER Mystic Force story, but the muse hit me yesterday and I could not stop thinking about it.
This story is unconnected to my other series and will be standalone or may be the first in its own series, if I get more ideas for this universe, but for now, hope you guys enjoy this story and please review.
