It was a frigid January day in Peace Valley. Yet it was warm and toasty at the local hangout, "Waverly Gyros." Sitting in the back corner were two teens, roughly seventeen and fifteen. They're both dressed warmly and have a warm look to their eyes. Everyone knew the girl as Ceci Masters, the eldest child of Vlad and Maddie Masters. They're the town oddballs as they're ghost hunters.
As for the black-haired boy, they knew him to be Danny Jackson, a distant cousin of Ceci's. Or that was the cover story when Danny Fenton visited his older half-sister's reality. Yet, neither ever thought to use the half part. To them, a sibling was a sibling. Furthermore, their bond mattered more than who their parents were. Each of the siblings had recently celebrated their birthday.
So Danny was wearing the new jacket his friends had created for his birthday. Ceci was sporting a unique locket with a photograph of her entire family. One side was her parents and younger siblings. The other side was her best friends, Danny, Jazz, and her younger brother's best friends. Danny and Jazz had given it to her for her birthday.
"I know our work is far from done, little brother," she said as she sipped her chocolate milkshake.
Danny quickly swallowed the huge bite he had taken of his gyro. "I know. I'm getting weirded out by how similar your adversaries are to mine. However, I got a question I've been meaning to ask you."
"Sure, Danny, shoot. What's your question?" Ceci asked curiously.
"You wouldn't happen to have a human opponent with a supernatural talisman? In my world, we've got this nutcase called "Freakshow," who enslaves ghosts for his traveling Gothic-themed circus using a mystical crystal ball. Even I wasn't unsusceptible to the influences of his crystal ball. So, since our worlds are so similar, I wondered if you had someone like that?"
Ceci chewed her lip for a moment before nodding. "Lady Belladonna," she whispered with a shiver.
"Who?"
Taking a deep breath, Ceci recalled her initial encounter with Lady Belladonna. "Lady Belladonna is a gorgeous woman who works in the traveling Carnival of Doom. Despite being as ravishing as Aphrodite and having a silver tongue? She's only got a drop of magical blood inside her veins. One of her ancestors in the Dark Ages was a halfling."
"Halfling? Do you mean like a demigod?" Danny asked, thinking about the Disney + take on Percy Jackson.
"Well, she isn't a descendant of a half-human half-god. Her most prominent ancestor was the Queen of the Fairies, who had an affair with a handsome mortal to spite her husband after they quarreled. Shakespeare wrote a secondhand account of it. His celebrated "Midsummer Night's Dream." But again, considering that it's been more than a millennium since the Dark Ages?"
"I'm guessing any magic she has is exceptionally weak," he finished, to which his sister nodded.
"She can only arouse her sorcery through a magical talisman called Seal of Titania. It resembles the "Eye of Odin" from the 90s Gargoyles. Either way, it helps her awaken her ancient magic."
"So, if I'm following this correctly and my own experience with Freakshow? She can cast spells, including mind control?"
"Yep, and like you had a spell cast on you? I had a spell cast on me. It took a lot of research and ultimately ringing an iron bell to fight off her spell. I've only encountered her a few times after that. But let's hope Paradox doesn't recruit her and Freakshow for the coming showdown we both feel."
Both siblings shivered as they quietly finished their meal. Both knew they'd have to ask the Ancients about this the next time they saw them. A sense of overwhelming doom was fast approaching. Both half-ghosts wonder if they could save all the loved ones or if the multiverse would be doomed.
