Chapter 1
As Percy steps out of the portal, he finds himself in a vast black throne room. He glances around in awe, taking in the imposing surroundings, while Nyx observes him with a hint of amusement. Nyx releases Percy's hand but remains close by, attentively watching as he explores the room.
However, Percy's exploration is abruptly interrupted by the sound of a man's voice slicing through the silence. "My love, who is this?" Percy turns toward the voice, his gaze locking onto the figure of a man. He bears a striking resemblance to the man he had encountered earlier, but there is a maturity and authority in his demeanor that tells Percy this man is not the same one.
"My dear, this is Percy. I found him running through the forests of Greece while I was strolling through it. I can tell he's a son of Poseidon, but clearly, his father wasn't watching over him because Percy was thrown out of his home by his caretaker and was being chased by a hellhound," Nyx explains, offering a smile to the man.
The man's eyes narrow slightly at Nyx's explanation of Percy's predicament, but he softens as he crouches down to Percy's eye level. "Percy, do you know who we are?" he asks gently.
Percy shakes his head in response, uncertainty flickering in his sea-green eyes.
"My name is Erebus, and the woman who found you is my wife, Nyx," the man introduces himself, his voice carrying a reassuring tone. "Do you know anything about the Greek's beliefs?"
Percy nods slowly. "A little bit," he admits. "My mom told me, but she didn't get to teach me much."
Erebus nods understandingly before continuing, "Well, Percy, I am the primordial of darkness, while Nyx is the primordial of night. You are in our home in the void."
Percy's eyes widen in astonishment. "What am I doing here?" he asks, a hint of fear creeping into his voice. Nyx approaches, crouching down beside Erebus, her presence offering comfort amidst Percy's fear.
"You don't need to be afraid of us, Percy. We're not going to hurt you," Nyx reassures him, her voice gentle and soothing. "I brought you here to be raised away from the cruel world you were brought into and abandoned in. You may be the key to saving our home."
Percy nods, trying to absorb Nyx's words. The idea of being a savior seems daunting, but he trusts Nyx and Erebus's intentions, even if he doesn't fully understand them.
"How old are you, Percy?" Erebus inquires.
"I'm eight," Percy replies.
Nyx smiles warmly before turning to Erebus. "Do you want to tell him, or should I?"
Erebus chuckles before turning back to Percy, who looks on with confusion.
"Time moves differently here, Percy. The void operates at a much faster pace than Earth. By the time you're ready to return, you'll be much, much older than eight, even if you don't appear to be," Erebus explains gently.
Percy listens with wide-eyed wonder before responding with a simple, "Oh."
Erebus and Nyx share a soft laugh before rising to their feet. "Percy, would you allow Erebus and me to adopt you? You would gain many incredible powers, and instead of being a demigod, you would become a demi-primordial," Nyx proposes, her tone warm and inviting.
Percy is taken aback by the offer, but the prospect of having loving parents fills him with excitement and joy. He eagerly nods his head in agreement.
Nyx smiles tenderly before she and Erebus extend their hands toward Percy, their expressions filled with warmth. Together, they speak in a language that Percy doesn't understand, but he senses an air of solemnity and care in their words.
As Nyx and Erebus complete their ritual, shadows begin to coil around Percy's body, enveloping him completely before releasing him a few moments later. Percy looks up at them in astonishment, feeling the surge of power that accompanies his adoption as a demi-primordial.
Nyx summons a handheld mirror, offering it to Percy to observe himself. As he gazes into the reflective surface, he is met with a startling transformation. His eyes, once sea-green, have darkened into swirling vortexes of black, pulsing with newfound power. His hair has taken on a deep, space-black hue, and his skin has tanned to match the complexion of Nyx and Erebus.
Percy stares at his altered reflection in wonder, marveling at the changes that signify his newfound status as their adopted son.
Nyx extends her hand, and Percy hesitantly grasps it. "Come, Percy, let us show you your new home," she says warmly. Percy nods eagerly, filled with a mix of excitement and curiosity. With Nyx leading the way and Erebus following closely behind, they leave the throne room behind to explore Percy's new life as a demi-primordial.
(A few hundred years later on earth)
Nyx sat regally upon her throne, silently watching over the Greek world. With a harsh gaze, she witnessed the birth of new Olympians and the fading of old deities, their essences joining her in the depths of her realm. Her attention was drawn to a disturbance unfolding at the garden of the Hesperides, where a demigod sought to steal an apple.
In a surge of anger, Nyx watched as the demigod exploited a young Hesperide to obtain the coveted fruit, callously discarding her when she pleaded to accompany him. Fuming, she bellowed, "Percy!" Moments later, the shadows in the chamber coalesced, and Percy emerged from their depths, appearing as a twelve year old.
"What is it, Mother?" His voice reverberated through the room, a presence that seemed to encompass every corner. Nyx rolled her eyes, unimpressed by his theatrical entrance before retorting, "Cut the theatrics. This demands your attention."
Percy nodded as he replied,"Sorry Mom. What's going on?" in his normal voice. Nyx beckoned him over before waving her hand in front of his eyes so he could see what she was seeing. He watched confused for a few moments before his expression turned to one of rage.
"Remedy the situation now. And take the girl to Artemis," Nyx commanded. Percy nodded in acknowledgment. "I'll take care of it," he assured her before melding into the shadows, reappearing a few paces ahead of the demigod, who was callously walking away from the sobbing girl.
Blocking the demigod's path, Percy materialized in the middle of the road, his features shrouded in darkness. The demigod halted, eyeing him with confusion. "Who are you?" he demanded.
"Your worst nightmare, child," Percy retorted, a glint of determination in his tone. The demigod chuckled dismissively. "I am Heracles, son of Zeus, the greatest demigod alive. You don't scare me."
Percy's grin widened as he replied, "Perhaps you should be scared. You're going to pay for what you did to that girl back there."
Turning to glance at the sobbing Hesperide, who sat in the road sobbing, Heracles shrugged indifferently. "I considered taking her along for amusement, but I thought better of it. Wouldn't want to upset dear old Dad," he boasted arrogantly.
Percy's smile twisted into a mask of rage as he manipulated the shadows to wrench the club from Heracles's grasp, delivering a punishing blow directly to his face. Heracles howled in fury, attempting to seize the weapon, but Percy deftly kept it out of his reach, driving it mercilessly into his abdomen and then launching it upward in a vicious uppercut.
With a resounding thud, Heracles crumpled to the ground, subdued by Percy's relentless assault. "Pathetic demigod," Percy muttered under his breath as he strode past him. His steps carried him to where the distraught Hesperide stood. "What's your name, young one?" he inquired softly.
Through her tears, the girl managed to respond, "Zoe... Who are you?" Percy's smile softened as he replied, "I'm Percy. My mother sent me to take you to a safe home with Lady Artemis." Zoe's expression clouded with confusion. "But why would your mother want to help me?" she asked incredulously.
Percy's grin widened as he responded, "Because she has her reasons. I can't disclose them, but I trust her judgment." Zoe nodded in understanding. "Okay. I'll go to Artemis. I can't return home, so anywhere else is probably better than here."
Percy nodded in agreement, extending his hand. Zoe tentatively took it as Percy enveloped them both in shadows. Emerging from the darkness, they found themselves in an unfamiliar forest. Though unfamiliar, Percy could sense the presence of the hunters nearby.
"Head in that direction. If anyone asks, just say a man rescued you from a difficult situation and brought you here under his mother's orders," Percy instructed. Zoe nodded, giving him a quick hug before setting off.
She paused, looking back at Percy. "Will I see you again?" she asked, her voice tinged with hope. Percy's smile softened. "If fate allows it. Good luck, Zoe." With that, Percy faded into the shadows, leaving Zoe to make her way toward the camp, smiling at his departure.
