(A/N: I do not own Paw Patrol, enjoy!)
"What is the deal with this plan?" Everest asked, pointing to one with what looked like a snow globe.
"I think you'll like it" Marshall replied.
Frosted Rose - 85
"Rocky! I need your help with something!" Marshall called out.
"Sure, what is it?" Rocky inquired, "something technical, something mechanical, electrical, my uber l33t hax?"
"All of the above" Marshall replied, bouncing from paw to paw.
"Ok, ok, you've got my attention" Rocky laughed. "Can I assume that this has something to do with a certain lavender husky?"
"What makes you think that?" Marshall asked, still bouncing on his paws
"Very few things make you quite this…animated" Rocky laughed.
"Well, I guess you have to help me to find out, brother greyest" Marshall replied with a smile as he started to bounce towards the lookout.
"I must say I'm intrigued" Rocky revealed as he walked beside the bouncing Dalmatian.
"I just hope you are up to the challenge" Marshall teased as they walked through the glass doors.
"You know me Marshall, I laugh in the face of a technical challenge!" Rocky replied confidently as they disappeared inside.
Days passed. Rocky busied himself with the preparations. Despite his initial confidence, what Marshall was asking him to do was in fact difficult. Difficult, but not impossible. A recording was made, a hidden cubby built with active camouflage, a remote control assembled from scrap, and everything had to work together just right when activated. Rocky poured his best into this project to help Marshall. By the time Saturday morning rolled around, it was ready.
Chase and Marshall arose at their normal time to watch the sun rise and were joined by Rocky.
"Everything set?" Marshall asked nervously.
"All set, nothing could possibly go wrong" Rocky replied confidently.
"Well, Marshall could choke, someone else could make it to the elevator before them, she could say no" Chase pointed out.
"Are you saying you can't handle your part?" Rocky pushed back. "I thought you were supposed to be good at herding? Slowing down a few pups should be child's play. Do we need to call Silvia to come do it?"
Chase puffed his chest out. "No, I'm good. I'll make sure only two pups make it to the elevator."
"Just make sure it is the right two pups" Marshall laughed. "I could be really awkward otherwise…"
All three of them laughed as they got up and walked back towards the pup houses. "Ruff, megaphone!" Chase barked. "Wake up pups! It is weekend warrior time!"
Groans answered him from every pup house. "Dude, that was tewwible" Zuma said as he joined them.
"Yeah, just once can't you wake us with good news?" Rubble asked. "Something like 'workout canceled, we are skipping straight to breakfast!' would be perfect."
"Silly Rubble" Skye giggled. "Do you want to know the reason I enjoy working out?" Skye asked as she leaned closer to the bulldog.
"What could that possibly be?" Rubble asked suspiciously.
"So I can eat whatever I want!" Skye laughed as she padded into the grass.
"Nevermind what it does for her figure" Chase whispered to Marshall who tired valiantly to suppress a giggle of his own at his smitten shepherd brother.
"I guess that is a reasonable reason" Rubble admitted as he followed Skye onto the grass.
Tracker and Everest pulled up right behind each other and raced to catch up to the rest of the pups.
Chase was convinced someone slipped Skye coffee this morning because she seemed intent of putting them all through the ringer. Yoga had gone well, evidenced by his back feeling better than any other day recently. But the cardio she was demanding of them was off the chart. Rubble was still panting hard, having called it quits barely ten minutes into the workout. The rest of the pups were still giving it their best, which was realistically mediocre. Marshall was the only one who seemed unaffected other than sweating just a bit through his paw pads.
Finally, 20 minutes in, Chase couldn't take it any more and he slowly down slightly to let Rocky catch up to him. "Anytime would be great bro" Chase panted quietly.
"I thought you'd never ask" Rocky panted back, hitting a button grafted onto his pup tag.
"Paw Patrol, to the lookout!" Echoed from all their pup tags.
"Ryder needs us!" All the pups barked as they turned to ran toward the elevator. Chase immediately saw a problem and took off as fast as he could.
Marshall, Skye and Everest were racing to see who could get there first. "I'm going to beat you slow pokes!" Skye laughed as she pulled ahead.
"Not today Skye!" Everest yipped as she ran hard to beat her best friend.
Suddenly a brown blur cut across their path. "Chase!" Skye yipped in surprise as her paws became tangled with the police pup's and they tumbled.
Everest howled as she ran unopposed towards the elevator door. Then a black and white blur cut across her vision.
"Marshall!" Everest yelped as the pattern repeated, with Everest's paws becoming tangled in Marshall's. However, instead of skidding to a stop, they rolled head over tail into the elevator.
"Yes, we are first!" Marshall barked before they slammed into back wall.
"Yes!" Rocky barked as he skidded to a stop and hit another button on his collar. The elevator door slammed shut and the lights went out.
"Wocky!" Zuma yelped as he slid to a stop next to him. "Something went wwong, we have to get in there and up to Wyder!"
"Ryder didn't call us" Rocky said with a laugh, hitting another button causing the glass on the elevator to being to frost over, making it difficult for anyone from seeing inside.
"¿Qué quieres decir? I heard him clear as day on my pup tag!" Tracker said as he skidded to a stop.
"It was all part of the plan" Chase said, grinning ear to ear."
"Was crashing into me part of the plan too?!" Skye yipped, grumpy at losing the race because of Chase. "Wait, where are Marshall and Everest?"
Everypup looked around sure enough, neither Marshall nor Everest was with them. Then they noticed Rocky and Chase, wearing snug expressions, pointing at the elevator where the glass had now totally frosted over, preventing anyone from seeing in or out.
"I'm good" Marshall said as he peeled himself off the glass. "You ok Everest?"
"I'm good too" Everest said, flashing Marsh a grin. Then she noticed something. "Wait, where are the other pups? Why are the lights out? And why can't we see anything outside the elevator?" Everest started moving around the elevator, looking for answers.
Marshall was doing the same, or so she thought. The Dalmatian was actually scrambling to complete his one task before she could notice.
"We are trapped!" Everest yelped. "Everyone else must be trapped outside. We have to figure out how to get this thing moving. We have to…" Everest turned around and her jaw dropped, "do something? Marshall?"
Marshall was sitting there facing her, a red rose in his jaws, smiling broadly at her. "Ryder didn't actually call us, I really just wanted to get you alone."
"Sooo, there is not emergency?" Everest asked cautiously as she took a step towards Marshall.
"The only emergency is in my heart which…"
"Stop right there" Everest said, putting a paw on Marshall's muzzle.
"Why? I'm just getting to the good part." Marshall said, shaking her paw off. "I have this whole long speech and…"
Everest put her paw on his muzzle again to silence him. "My turn…" she whispered in a voice that made Marshall quiver all the way to the tip of his tail.
Marshall never finished; Everest pounced him before he could even finish whatever cheesy line he had been about to say. The two of them tumbled a short distance across the floor of the elevator. Marshall landed on his back, with Everest on top of him. Her paws connect with his shoulders, pinning him down as the rose was ripped from his jaws and replaced with Everest's lips. Marshall's brain exploded as he became the recipient of his first ever romantic kiss, from the pup of his dreams no less.
Before Marshall's brain cells could finish processing that turn of events, Everest turned up the heat. Marshall's eyes rolled back in his head as Everest poured everything she had into snogging Marshall with more than just her lips…
Outside, the pups were interrogating Rocky and Chase. "Wait, so this was all a ruse to get Marshall and Everest alone together?" Skye said slowly.
Chase and Rocky nodded, smiles plastered on their faces.
"But, how did you get it to broadcast the summons then?" Rubble asked.
"I just initiated a group call with all of you and played a recording" Rocky replied. "Now, don't we all have somewhere else to be?"
"Heck no dude!" Zuma said excitedly, "We need to see if it wowked or not!"
"You don't want to just walk away and wait for them to tell us later?" Rocky asked curiously.
"No!" Came a chorus of replies.
Rocky looked at Chase. "It either worked or it didn't" Chase said with a shrug. "Either it did and they won't notice us taking a peek or it didn't and Marshall is so distraught that he forgot how to let Everest out in which case we are saving her from that mess. I guess we can spare a peek."
"Ok" Rocky said, hitting the button to clear the glass again. As the glass cleared, every jaw dropped.
"¿Están jugando a la etiqueta de las amígdalas?" Tracker gasped, "Soy demasiado joven para ver esto…"
"AH! MY EYES, IT BURNS!" Rubble screamed as he turned to run away. "My innocence is ruined, I'm scared for life!"
"Wow, that is one wet pash dudes" Zuma said in a awe-struck whisper.
"I guess it worked, eh Chase?" Rocky smirked.
"Maybe a little too well" Chase said with concern. "We might need a hose to separate them, what do you think Skye?" There was no answer. "Skye?" Chase turned to the cockapoo standing next to him. Skye was panting quite heavily. "Are you ok Skye?" Chase nudged his covert crush.
"I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!" Skye exploded, startling all the remaining pups. "I'M SO WOUND UP AND THEN EVEREST GETS HER WAY WITH MARSHALL; I'M NOT WAITING A SECOND LONGER!"
"Skye? What are you talking abo-ah!" Chase yelped as Skye tackled him to the ground.
"TIME FOR OUR DREAMS TO COME TRUE CHASE!" Skye proclaimed before she assaulted his face with kisses.
"AH! IT'S CONTAGIOUS! SKYE CAUGHT WHATEVER EVEREST HAS!" Zuma shrieked as he turned to flee.
"¡Huid por vuestras vidas!" Tracker screamed as he too took off.
"Two for the price of one, love must be on sale today" Rocky laughed as he hit the button to re-frost the elevator glass and then ran off to give the four pups some privacy. And maybe find the other guys and help them clear their minds of what they just witnessed.
"Aren't you glad I stopped you?" Everest smirked at her boyfriend.
"I didn't even get to say my speech about how much I love you" Marshall whined, "I put a lot into writing it to make it perfect for you."
Everest giggled, "oh silly Marshall, as much as I love your voice, I don't need to hear your speech to know how much you love me…" Everest wrapped her paws around Marshall's neck, "how about instead listening to your speech, we do something else…"
Any argument Marshall may have had was forgotten when his brain cells check out for real as Everest demonstrated the exact kind of kiss she had just described. It was even better than Marshall imagined…
(A/N: Special thanks to MarshalB for this idea! Keep your ideas coming, good or bad because we all know not every plan works as intended…)
(A/N: No, neither couple went any farther than some Frantic French kissing, it just shocked the younger pups so much to have it happen so suddenly right in front of them)
