(A/N: I do not own Paw Patrol, enjoy!)
"Hey Marshall?" Everest said sweetly, looking up at one of the Dalmatians she was snuggling.
"Yes Eve?" Marshall replied, looking back down at her.
"Did any of your plans involve Cinder?" Everest asked.
Cinder looked up at Marshall from her spot in the snuggle pile at her brother, curiosity dancing in her eyes.
"You mean better than what I actually did?" Marshall said with a laugh.
"What you did was fine, if poorly executed," Cinder softly teased.
"Less confusion would have been nice" Everest agreed.
"I think I had an idea that fits that description," Marshall laughed.
Twin Entanglement - 100
"I don't know what to do Cin" Marshall said with a sigh.
"You should have told her as soon as you came back" Cinder softly chastised her twin, "instead, you only told her we were twins."
"That seemed like the important part at the time" Marshall tried to defend himself.
"It was" Cinder softly conceded, rubbing her head against Marshall's, "but it was only half of the important part."
"More important of the two important parts?" Marshall cajoled.
"Fine, yes, telling her that we were twins and not lovers was probably the more important of the two" Cinder softly huffed, "but If you were waiting for the opportune moment, that was it."
"I know" Marshall whined, "but now that I missed that opportune moment, I have to make a new one. And I need your help."
"My help?" Cinder softly scoffed, "you have a whole book of good ideas."
"But with both of us, I know we can come up with an even better idea" Marshall pleaded.
"Fine, I'll help" Cinder softly acquiesced, "but I expect to compensated."
"I'm sure I'll figure something out that will knock your spots off Cin" Marshall promised. And so the twins put their thinking spots on and got to work.
Everest was laying out under the trees at the lookout. The other pups were playing her favorite game, freeze tag, but the husky didn't feel like playing. She felt like moping, so that was exactly what she was doing. At least Marshall and Cinder aren't dating Everest thought to herself, so I've got that bright side. But that would also be super wierd now knowing that they are twins. I wonder why Marshall never mentioned her before, he is so big on us being a family that it seems strange that he would never mention his own twin.
"Hey Everest!" a voice softly called.
Everest lifted her head to see Cinder trotting over to her. At least assumed it was Cinder, she was having a really hard time telling the two of them apart. The only real giveaway was that they had different voices, but they could also perfectly immitate their twin so even that couldn't be trusted. And Everest was not about to go checking between their legs each time to verify which one she was talking to. That would be super wierd, but probably also amusing the first few times she chucked to herself.
"Hi Cinder" Everest responded as the lithe female Dalmatian laid down beside her.
"So, what are you doing out here by yourself?" Cinder softly asked, "I seem to remember Marshall saying you loved playing freeze tag."
"I do" Everest said with a sigh, "but I just don't feel like it today."
"Is something wrong?" Cinder softly asked, putting a caring paw on the Husky's shoulder.
Everest opened her mouth to answer but caught herself just in time. That would be great, admit to Marshall's sister that I love him just so he can pluck the thought from her head. He doesn't seem like he feels the way he did before he left anyway. "No, I'm fine" Everest said instead.
Told you that you missed the opportune moment Cinder thought to Marshall, and now you've got her out here, by herself, moping. You, sir, are a…
We've already established that sister dear Marshall thought back quickly so as to cut her off, just stick to the plan, please, so we can fix it.
"So" Cinder softly returned to the conversation, "I have a proposition for you."
"What's that?" Everest asked forlornly.
"Well, you are one of Marshall's best friends, so why don't we hang out together and get to know each other" Cinder softly said, "show me what a perfect day for you would look like down here at the Lookout."
"I guess" Everest acquiesced. For some reason, resisting the insistently sincere Dalmatian seem futile. "Let's go hop in my snowcat and take a drive."
The two pups walked back to Everest's pup house. Everest changed it into her snowcat with a bark and jumped inside, leaving enough space for Cinder to hop up beside her. Then the two of them drove off.
This isn't going to work Cinder thought to Marshall as they drove down the driveway.
Yes it will Marshall thought confidently back, just go for it.
"So Everest," Cinder said softly as they crossed the bridge, "what is your idea of a perfect date?"
"I'm sorry, what?" Everest asked in surprise.
"What is your idea of a perfect date?" Cinder softly repeated, "I've found that you can learn a lot about another pup's character and what they value by finding out about what they want in a perfect date."
Everest was quiet for a moment.
She isn't going for it Cinder thought to Marshall.
Wait for it Marshall thought back
"I guess that makes sense" Everest said slowly, "and I don't suppose it could hurt anything, this is all theoretical anyway."
Cinder said nothing, patiently waiting for the Husky to continue.
"I guess the first thing would be that they spend the day with me doing the things I like" Everest said.
Well, you nailed the first part Cinder thought to her twin.
Great, so do everything she wants while you glean more details from her Marshall thought back.
You owe me so big for this Marsh Cinder thought.
Add it to my tab Marshall replied with a mental laugh.
And so Everest began telling Cinder about her idea of a perfect date. And Cinder relayed that information to Marshall who began making preparations.
Everest arrived at the beach and the two pups hopped out of her snowcat. "Do you know how to surf?" Everest asked as they walked along the sand.
"I do" Cinder softly replied, "but I don't have a surfboard."
"That's ok," Everest replied, "you can use Marshall's." The two pups grabbed surfboards from the beach lookout tower and paddled out.
"I love surfing" Everest said as they waited for a wave, "it is basically the summer version of snowboarding. I'll always love snowboarding more but when there is no snow, and the day hot as heck, surfing is the next best thing." Cinder nodded in understanding.
Everest caught the first wave. "Woohoo!" She yipped happily as she rode the wave all the way to shore. as she turned to paddle out, she stopped to watch Cinder ride her wave.
Everest marveled at Cinder's perfect and graceful form, which was the complete opposite of Marshall's wipeout centric form. The Dalmatian rode the wave all the way in and jumped off next to Everest.
"That was amazing" Everest stammered, "I would never have guessed that you and Marshall were related based on that; your form was perfect!"
"I wouldn't say perfect" Cinder replied softly, "and while we may look alike and be alike in many ways, we are different pups."
"I'm beginning to see that now" Everest replied with a smile. The two of them spent the rest of the morning surfing. They traded tips and tricks and had a wonderfully relaxing time just riding the waves.
They stopped around lunch time when they got hungry. They returned the surf boards to the beach lookout and went to grab a bite. They decided on smoothies and hot dogs from the beach snack shack. The two pups laid out on their towels to soak up some rays while they ate.
Everest and Cinder talked about all sorts of things while they ate and basked. Cinder was enjoying learning about Marshall's crush and Everest was enjoying learning about Marshall's twin sister. All the while, Cinder was relaying everything to Marshall. Most of it was stuff he already knew but there were occasionally things he didn't know that he then took note of.
After lunch, the girls basked for a bit longer. "So, what else do you want to do?" Cinder softly asked after awhile.
"Well, do you want to go for a quick hike?" Everest asked.
"Absolutely!" Cinder softly cheered.
The two of them took quick dip to get the sand out of their fur, shook themselves dry and then hopped into Everest's snowcat.
Everest drove to a trailhead just on the edge of town. As they started walking, Cinder finally broached her other important topic.
"So, do you have someone in mind to go on your perfect date with?" Cinder softly asked.
"Umm," Everest tried to dodge the question, "maybe."
"I don't want a name" Cinder softly assured the Husky.
"I thought I did" Everest replied with a sigh, "but now I'm not so sure."
"Why is that" Cinder softly asked.
"Umm" Everest stalled again, trying to find words that wouldn't give her crush away. "More like just a gut feeling than anything else."
"Well, I hope it works out for you, you deserve to be happy" Cinder softly said, making Everest blush slightly.
You really missed your opportune moment Cinder thought to Marshall, she is starting to doubt you.
Fortunately, that will change shortly Marshall thought back. Whenever you are done, bring her back and send her up to the control room. I'm ready for her.
You better be Cinder thought, I do not want to pick up the pieces if you mess this up and break her heart.
The rest of the hike went well, with less touchy conversation topics. Everest was actually sad when they came back to the trailhead as she was quite enjoying herself. Aside from the few slightly odd questions, Everest thought it was perfect, almost. Now if only it had been with Marshall instead she thought to herself and they jumped back into the snowcat and headed back to the lookout.
"I had a great time today" Cinder softly said as they jumped off of the snowcat and Everest turned it back into her pup house.
"Me too" Everest replied. "Thank you for spending the day with me, I really needed to unwind."
"My pleasure" Cinder softly replied.
"Hey Everest" Chase called as he walked over, "Marshall is looking for you."
"Oh, ok" Everest said, slightly confused, "do you know where he is?"
"He said something about going up to the control room" Chase replied.
"Ok, thanks Chase" Everest said, "see you later Cinder!"
"See you soon!" Cinder softly replied. Smooth Cinder thought to Marshall.
I thought that would be more inconspicuous than you magically knowing that she needed to go to the control room Marshall thought back.
You are probably right Cinder mentally conceded.
Everest wasn't sure what she expected to find, but what she found was not it. The entire floor of the control room had been covered in soft white felt, giving it almost a snowy look. The normal lights were off, but a bevy of candles ringed the edge, culminating at a pup table set for two on the balcony overlooking the bay.
The delicious scent of liver steak wafted through Everest's nostrils, making her lick her lips involuntarily. There was also a hint of evergreen, Everest's favorite smell for…Marshall!
Everest watched the handsome Dalmatian make his way towards her. "Hi Everest" he softly greeted her, "would you stay in for a date with me?"
"You know Marshy" Everest cooed, "you didn't need Cinder to ask me what a perfect first date would be because you already knew."
"A little confirmation never hurts" Marshall replied with a shrug.
"How did you know?" Cinder asked her brother softly.
"Give me a little credit sis" Marshall replied, "I spent a long time thinking up ways to ask Eve out. This is one of two or three plans I rated as a 100% chance of success."
"That doesn't answer the question" Cinder softly noted.
"I wouldn't have been a very good friend if I didn't know what Eve did and didn't like" Marshall explained.
Everest and Cinder exchanged a wink. "I guess you know what happens next…" Everest said teasingly. Something about the way she said that made Marshall think twice about the accuracy of his prediction.
Everest looked at Marshall with a look that could only be described as loving as she stepped closer to him. "I would love to date…" her lips were poised to kiss Marshall, his eyes closed in anticipation.
"Cinder?!" Everest said. Her muzzle brushed past Marshall, followed by her head and tail.
Marshall's eyes snapped open in surprise as he turned to follow the Husky.
Cinder was poking her head out around the corner of the balcony, watching them.
"What are you doing here? Everest asked in surprise.
"I wouldn't miss this" Cinder softly smiled.
"You are amazing" Everest said lovingly before wrapping her paws around Cinder's neck and kissing her passionately.
Marshall froze in shock at the sight of his crush kissing, and then making out with his twin sister.
"I told you she was a lesbian" Super Spy Chase dropped down from the ceiling and whispered in Marshall's ear.
"Good call" Marshall said, stunned. "Wait, you never said that before, Chase" Marshall said as he turned to his brother, but Super Spy Chase had already disappeared.
"Hey" Everest yipped, getting Marshall's attention back on her. "I'm not a lesbian" Everest continued as she strode confidently back over the Marshall.
"You're not?" Marshall replied, confusion evident on his face.
"No," Everest said, bringing her muzzle up to Marshall's, "I'm polyamorous." With that, Everest hooked a paw around the back of Marshall's head and pulled the stunned Dalmatian into a kiss. Marshall's brain imploded as Everest forced him to the floor on his back and began hungrily making out with him.
"Love seems like the perfect compensation" Cinder softly giggled as she joined them.
"I think you broke him Eve" Cinder softly giggled. Marshall was frozen with a look of mixed confusion, shock and something she couldn't quite place. His mind was also uncharacteristically and totally blank.
"Oh well, I guess he'll just have to miss out on all the fun" Everest said with a sly wink as she looped a paw around Cinder's neck.
"What just happened?" Marshall softly asked, his eyes blinking slowly as his brain rebooted.
"Well, you and Cinder together gave me the best date day ever in your plan" Everest explained as she released Cinder, "you both clearly love me so being in a relationship with both of you makes perfect sense. And you love each other as well so there would be no jealous issues."
"Eerily accurate" Cinder softly giggled.
"Don't worry babe" Everest said, looking into Marshall's eyes but sliding a paw around Cinder's middle, "you are the only one for me." Something still seemed off to Marshall as Everest continued, "I'm just having a bit of fun messing with you." Then Everest winked at him, or was it at Cinder?
"Let's go get a bite to eat" Cinder softly suggested.
"Spaghetti and meatballs to share?" Everest offered as they got up.
"Sounds perfect" Cinder softly agreed.
"Do I get a vote?" Marshall softly teased.
"No" Everest and Cinder replied softly.
"We already know what you want" Cinder softly continued as the girls walked out paw in paw.
Marshall probed Cinder's mind as he followed them to see what they had in mind. The image he got was was of the three of them around a giant spaghetti bowl with giant meatballs, just like any other time. Except this time, both he and Cinder had a single noodle in their mouth that they were eating while Everest had two noodles. Or maybe she just had the middle of one long noodle as all the noodles kept getting shorter and shorter in all directions, bringing the three of them closer and closer together.
What have I got myself into? Marshall thought to himself.
I guess you'll have to tag along and find out Cinder's laughing reply danced through his mind.
A/N: Got an idea for a plan? Let me know!
A/N: Sooo this idea was not on my list of plans to do, it just came to me one day and so I wrote it, I hope you enjoyed Everest and Cinder messing with Marshall's sense of reality. I still have 5 plans that you, my inspiring readers, have suggested and I need to write. I usually do them first in, first out but I may swap that around. Stay tuned for more zany antics (hopefully amusing ones)!
