Second Chosen chapter 6. Well, I think chapter 5 went off without a hitch. You know, I just realized that I need to be extremely careful with how I pace this story. I mean, sure, I'm eager for things to start picking up (Which they FINALLY are) but I don't want to throw in things too early to drag stuff on for too long. In actuality, I think Suplicium is going to be the main broker for how I can manage what happens and when. Bad guys are the mediators on things like this and shit doesn't start happening until they want it to happen. If they aren't acting, then they're planning and in those time frames I'll be able to steadily introduce more and more characters, along with more and more stories. Word of warning, a BUNCH of characters are going to be coming through in the future. Most of them are mainly going to be Pokémon but I'm not gonna be scarce about the humans either. It would take a while to remember all of these guys and even longer to remember any tiny details about them so I'm just going to have to make an info page in this story somewhere down the line. And as shit continues to progress with the characters then more info will be added to it. I feel that it'll be necessary. As usual, shouts out to The Omniarch and Krika1119 for their own contributions to this story.
Heheheheh, and sorry for the ReyXMira teasing, Cuadra. I knew it'd grate on your nerves if I did that since they won't be paired. But I have to stay real to my character here. I'd honestly would have a load of problems if I was in this position. I'd be torn between just treating Mira as my sister and being attracted to her Pokémon form and since Mira is none the wiser of this internal struggle, this makes Rey's situation even worse. He has to confide in himself that he needs to get out of this mindset but the temptation is just too real. Don't worry, this teasing isn't going to last very long anyway.
Quick Side Note: It is VERY important that you read this. I've made some edits from Chapter 2 up to now dealing with the timeline of Rey's world and jumped it ahead a year. Now it's the beginning of 2014 instead of the beginning of 2013, also making him 17 instead of 16. Why did I do this? Well after having a talk with The Omniarch I realized that my story would be able to go a bit smoother and have less unnecessary time-skips if I make it so that Pokémon X and Y along with the X and Y anime dropped. Most things in this story kind of revolve around Kalos for one (*cough* Mega Evolution *cough*), and for two, I think it would be better if I was able to slightly keep more pace at the rate we get new Pokémon material, A.K.A. Super Mystery Dungeon, ORAS, and Sun and Moon. The reason why I started in Unova in the first place is because I started this story in 2011, ergo: the time the Black and White games and anime were relevant. I may have gotten back into this story thanks to him and Krika1119 but I can't be so behind that I need to bullshit and give fake time estimates randomly to catch up. I mean there WILL be timeskips, but I should at least stay with the tops, yeah?
Two Dreams Officially Realized
Rey's (Stephan's) POV
I gave a groan as I could feel myself waking up from my sleep. Holy crap, I don't think I can remember the last time I slept so good, but that didn't mean I was wide-awake. Nope, I wasn't in the slightest. In fact, my body and brain seemed to have been having a fight for control over who gets the say so of what to do. My body wanted me to drift off once again but my brain wanted me to wake up and get ready for the day. I then stopped thinking for a moment. What day? I've got two free days of no school and all of the laziness that I could ever want was at my beck and call for today, tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday. I could always train later on so why not go back to sleep then? With a sigh, I pulled the closest thing in arms reach to my chest and began to drift away again. It was when I felt what I pulled wrap around my neck, did my eyes push back up. I gave a big yawn and glanced down to whatever the hell I was holding.
Ah…right.
Mira gave a deep breath as she snuggled to me. Her tiny form was entirely lost under the large white blanket while her head was a little bit visible. The only reason why was because the blanket was pulled low enough to show it. Well, no wonder I slept so damn good; it was with both someone else and a Pokémon at that. Who knew that just having someone else lying with you could make you feel even more comfortable than if you were sleeping alone? Though I can't lie to myself and say that while I'm enjoying the contact, it's making me feel weird. Again…and again, not in the good way, but it wasn't as bad as it was last night. Still though, I didn't want to chance anything weird happening between us that was my fault. Like, maybe, I don't know, her waking up to see that I had another hard on. Well another for me anyway. Reasons being because of the mix of her soft fur meeting my skin and her being a Mew was turning me on. So I did the best that I could to slowly remove her arms from my neck and sit up in my bed. I took a deep breath and stretched my arms up into the air before yawning again. Mira snuggled into the blanket and mumbled a bit in her sleep but she showed no signs of waking up at all.
'Maybe she's a heavy sleeper?' I hoped so since at the moment this would be embarrassing for the both of us. So I just sat there for a minute or so until I felt my 'man-pride' die down. Ugh, I can't just keep getting hard like that and not take care of it back to back. I'm going to have to take care of that later on or something. Anyway, with that minor inconvenience taken care of, I removed the blanket from my legs and swung them over the side of my bed. I then got into one of my wheeled chairs and sighed, rubbing my face of any drowsiness. Using 'Aura Perception' I checked to see if anyone else in the house was awake or somewhere else. My uncle wasn't in his room so I figured that he was at work. My grandmother was gone too, so I figured that she was busy at the workshop for today at wherever the hell she was. My grandfather, Charles, was gone too? Huh. Wonder where he went off too. Maybe to get some beer? Maybe to plan some kind of event with his veteran buddies? It seems that the only ones in the house besides me and Mira, was Crystal and Jynx, and both were sleep. Crystal in her room and Jynx, on my grandmother's bed in the next room.
I checked my phone to see that it was 9:23 AM. Whoa, that's pretty early for me; the latest that I get up on any day to myself is usually around 1:00 PM at the least. Okay, well then since I have some time to myself, why not just spend it the way I would on any normal day? I opened up my laptop, bringing it out of Rest Mode and unlocked it. 'Alright, so what do I wanna do? Write up more of one of my stories? YouTube? Fanfiction's always an option but I have no idea what I would want to try and read…' I blinked a few times before glancing at Mira and then back to my laptop, 'oh, why not check up on something Pokémon related? I can't say that I'm not ever going to be in the mood nowadays.' So I went to my homepage and pressed 'Browse' before going to the 'Game' section and of course, Pokémon is at the top of the selection with the most stories made. I think I will forever take pride in that since Pokémon has entered my life now. I click the link which brings me to the K+ through T rated stories. I've learned years back that some of the best stories can be found under the M rating, so that's what I'm gonna go for. I brought up the 'Filter' box and began to narrow down my search to a specific set of stories.
Language: English
Rated: M
Genre: Adventure
Characters (A): Ash K./Satoshi
Status: In-progress
When I had my desired options set, I saw on the gray counter at the bottom that over 500 hundred stories were listed with these specifics. I hit the 'Apply' button and waited for the page to load. Of course, I wasn't disappointed as loads of stories were uploaded in a second or two before I began to scroll through some of them, looking for anything half-way decent to pass the time. To anyone else out there who sporadically is on this site like me, you learn things when it comes to fan-made stories and one of them is most of what you see is not at all what you want to read. Most stories aren't going to be your preference in anyway, no matter how much you try to simplify your search by filtering. It just makes it easier to sort through the genres that you like reading the most and that you can easily entertain yourself with. Another negative is that usually the best stories are the ones that aren't even complete, either by the author going missing from the site, abandoning the story or putting it up for adoption. I can at least respect those who do rewrites because at least then, authors try to make an already decent story even better and easier to follow with more development and less plot holes. Plot holes being taken out entirely is near impossible but it's a lot easier to take out the more noticeable ones. That's why I usually search for the stories 'in-progress' than complete; higher chance of me finding something I could get into to pass the time with. Kinda makes me wonder how much I'll be able to attend to my own stories because of all of this Pokémon stuff happening to me now. Guess I'll just have to find the time when it comes to me.
I stopped scrolling through the stories rapidly and did it a bit slower so that I could see the titles and the summaries better. I also go by chapter length and word count too. Nothing's more irritating than reading something too short. My eyes fall to one story and…wait, what? Oh, no.
No, no, no, no, no, no. Not one of these shits.
"Oh, great, another overpowered-out-the-ass one, of course." I say as I look at the story title and summary. The title being called 'The Omega Omnisphere's Mightiest Pokémon Master-Rewrite'. I won't lie, the 'Mightiest Pokémon Master' part alone is pretty cool and it can even work for an Ash who works really hard to train his Pokémon to honestly be as best as they can be, since I don't believe that anyone can train their Pokémon to be the best by default. You can only get them to be so powerful and it depends on the methods too and what you teach them. But the summary? That is what gives away the whole OP-as-all-shit message. Literally. They all are like that, uh, those who write stories like these. I don't mind an Ash who can use his Aura with strong Pokémon. I'm even trying to get used to an Ash that's also psychic but that's not as easy for me to grasp compared to Aura. But this sounds like it goes above and beyond. Of course, saying Omega Omnisphere might have something to do with…. wait, didn't dad tell me about that or something? What are the fucking odds?
The summary reads; 'In an alternate Pokémon universe, champion level trainer Ash Ketchum One Million faces the Omnimalevolent Anti-God Pokémon in an apocalyptic war for all of totality. Features Omnipotent/Godlike Ash, with omnipotent Pokémon. An Amourshipping/Semi Harem fic, with an OC legendary Pokémon.'
…. bitch.
I have read some overpowered fics in my day but I have NEVER heard of one where Ash is ACTUALLY made to be a fucking GOD! And I see that this was recently posted today by looking at the date. A rewrite, though? Well I sure as hell wouldn't know about that…or do I? I don't know, I checked out a lot of other godlike Ash fics in the past but this would be the first one of him in Kalos I'd know about. So what I'm speculating here…is that Ash in this story is basically a god who's going to get even more godly and has all of the hoes swarming on his as usual. Limits tested? Oh, come on. We all know that in this kind of business these Mary-Sue characters don't ACTUALLY get tested to do shit. These writers just get lazy, trying to write in something grueling happening to the characters, pretend that he'll lose control over his power or doesn't want his friends to get caught in his mishaps or something before he learns that he needs to learn to live with loss, and control his power, and whatever-the-fuck else I don't care about. Not to mention these characters act the same. They're either so fucking perfect they do everything right, always have the right thing to say, are just so above killing others because they either aren't worth it, don't want to demoralize themselves, or they find some other methods to break them. The one that pisses me off the most is that they think they can just relate to normal characters. Ones who don't have powers of any sort and you think it's just so easy to fit in? That it's so easy that they'll let you in? Well it doesn't work that way, assholes. And again, this shit is set in Kalos? That's a bit surprising but not entirely. We're only about 11 episodes into XY with 'The Bamboozling Forest' being the latest episode. So even though we aren't deep into the series I guess there's enough material to make a fic with Ash starting in Kalos and ever since the reveal of Serena, people have begun shipping those two like she's the only girl in Pokémon to exist. That's repetitive too.
Anyway, not just Aura and psychic powers but he's fucking omnipotent!? WHY!? And his fucking Pokémon too!? Now that just isn't fair. Don't misunderstand. I don't naturally hate fics that are written in this format…I just usually hate them because they're all written the damn same for whoever it's done with. Ash, Naruto, Goku or Gohan, Ichigo, fuck all of that. I've honestly nearly stopped giving these kinds of stories a chance and turn a blind eye to them because I get disappointed in the end that it was the same damn thing. Main character owns and pretends to have something hard when in reality (For their world, I guess) it isn't hard. It's just a block of wood that they eventually karate chop through. Oh, and of course Ash has a harem to go with being paired with Serena. Even the profile picture to the story is the two of them hugging which is obviously artwork done by someone.
I rest my head on my left hand, wondering if I should at least check it out. The word count for the first chapter is high as hell, which is surprising but if I don't like it anyway then it'd be irrelevant anyway. Not reading any story practically makes the words a solid 0 to everyone and that story just becomes invisible. I also personally do have some qualms about OP characters in general. They are ALWAYS given ass-loads of unneeded powers and never do shit to work for them, unless its practice to see what they can do with 'em. Not the same thing, I promise. Why does anyone need all of that power!? What the fuck do you intend to be fighting!? The literal embodiment of Death? Is that what this Anti-God Pokémon is supposed to be because it's usually a reverse of Arceus that people are prone to writing. But normal humans have killed or controlled aspects of Death in their own realms and, if you didn't quite catch it just now, they weren't god-like. Just mortals. I can relate more to an Ash that's just…you know…Ash. I feel like that doesn't deserve an explanation. Seeing him just curb-stomp niggas and has more than enough power to shit on anyone without a single fucking care in the world is old; unless it's the result of training that I've seen or have been thoroughly described then don't talk to me about it.
"Who the fuck wrote this? 'The Omniarch'? Of course that's his pen name," I deadpan before I shrug and move my mouse to the title, "eh, why the fuck not? I can't lie and say I'm not curious."
And after a full hour of reading because, my god, this man can write a lot, I was reviewing the first chapter like no one's business. Reviewing because I have no FUCKING idea what the hell I just read! No, I don't mean that in a bad way, just…I don't know. I was just so damn enthralled and lost at the same time! I barely got whatever the hell this guy is selling but I understood the main part. This Ash may actually be threatened in the future! On a grand scale! Sure, he still comes off as kind of Mary-Sue-ish and even more OP than even I could've imagined for anybody to be: something I believe is unavoidable for people like him but apparently he's gonna be in for some tough times ahead! And he's even bound by rules! And he's lost battles and everything! Funny thing, I noticed; the Arceus in this story kinda said the same things dad said to me…just way over specified. Anyway, since this guy actually gave me something to look forward to, I decided to leave a pretty nice review for him.
DD: First...I just wish to say that I've always been opposed to instant OP's in stories. Reasons why is that all people who ever created one, a few, and the like in their own stories just don't UNDERSTAND how boring, ridiculous, one-sided, (un)knowingly snotty, and Mary-Sue-ish they make their characters OR story. No matter if it's a main character or an OC. Especially since those people don't grasp the concepts of what it TRULY takes to being or even BECOMING OP. But YOU...you do everything RIGHT in my definition of what it takes to have an OP character. Both Ash and his Pokémon actually WORKED for all the power they possess, they are most certainly NOT unbeatable and are capable of losing fights, learned to be humble and faced humility, and there are no kinds of douche-bags among any of them just based from the fact that they have near-absolute or complete absolute power.
Now if THESE reasoning's are in place I don't mind OP characters. It shows they're not perfect and still have a long way to go before being at their TRUE best! No one would want to see God-Ash or the like to curb-stomp everyone all the time. That's just going to give the person who wrote the story hate from others. I don't know if I can remember a previous story with Omega Ash. Maybe I did read it in the past but I swore that took place in Unova since I noticed a small few things that were similar but for some reason I feel that this rewrite was much better than the previous one. Even though I know you don't make OP's absolute I just have this FEELING that you are going to take this version somewhere that you couldn't with the original.
Omniarch, you are probably my only favorite OP writer in regards to anything. You KNOW the mechanics. I nearly felt the tears of happiness when I read them in your Author Notes and even though the prologue. I'm so GLAD that Ash had been and WILL BE truly challenged.
Going over it a couple of times to make sure that nothing was misspelled or that I didn't write something that wasn't supposed to be there, I sent it through. Well, that sure as hell got me pretty interested and I never was into that kind of stuff. Sure, like I said, I didn't get a whole lot of it, but it was nearly the same as what happened to me too! Except dad didn't make me, you know…a fucking god that could do nearly anything just by thinking about it. Hmm…was dad omnipotent? I shake my head at the thought. No, he couldn't be. I've seen some of his limits in 'The Jewel of Life' movie, not to mention he made the whole fucking…. well, my fucking Pokémon Universe with his power. I can't imagine how much that drained him and he went and created Dialga, Palkia, Giran and Mira after that. If anything, old man's sure as hell got the reserves. My old man…will that ever stop sounding so ridiculously satisfying? I looked to the arrow button at the lower-right-hand side at the bottom of the chapter, tempted to go to chapter two as I hovered my mouse over it. But, Jesus, if the first chapter was that damn long then who's to say the second isn't any better? But I can't let myself be intimidated like that. I'm very sure this guy is onto something good if he doesn't, you know…fuck it up. Dammit, is he gonna fuck this all up? Well that thought made me not get too deep into whatever this was. I'll just read some more and then wait until he updates other stuff before I can give my final thoughts on whatever kinds of stories he plans to make in the future. I saw the blanket begin to shift around a little bit making me divert my attention from the screen over to the white puffy sheet. Mira gave a light groan as she pushed herself up with her arms and forced herself to sit up. Her small body propped up against the pillow as she blinked sleepily before giving a big yawn while stretching her small arms high. She began to rub her eyes to get the drowsiness out of them as she looked to me.
"Good morning." She said in a groggy voice before yawning again. I fully turned my head to her and gave a light smile.
"Morning to you too. How'd you sleep?"
"Like a log," she replied and fully laid back against the pillow, "you were just so comfy! And so was your bed too; I love this blanket! Anyway, thanks for letting me stay the night in here. I know you didn't have to do that." Oh, if only she knew. A mix of her puppy eyes on top of me being partially aroused was just too damn much for me. I knew that if I said no then it would somehow make me look like the bad guy. I could just feel that this woman was going to become a hassle down the line.
I just go for a shrug. "Well I honestly couldn't have let you sleep anywhere else in the house. Not with the potential of any others of my family catching you."
"Hey, I can make myself invisible, you know?" She said while I backspaced out from the story that I was on. I now went to my e-mail account to see what else was there. Oh, it seems that Krika1119 sent me a few more PM's. Probably about one of the RP's that we've got going on at the moment. I click on the e-mail and read the contents while also replying to Mira.
"Yeah, I know that but can you do it while you sleep or do you already have to be invisible before-hand?" She gave a light laugh and rubbed the back of her hand. Ah, the omniversal sign of not having any kind of comeback and accepting what was previously said being the truth. "That's what I thought. Don't need anyone else having a panic attack at seeing some weird pink cat. Hell, I don't even think they'll think you're a cat since you don't really define the norm here."
She used 'Psychic' to push the covers off of her before floating over to me and floating beside me. "What? I'm not weird and I'm perfectly normal. I mean sure, I'm a very hard to spot Pokémon and all but even back home I'm not considered any of those things."
"But like I said, here is very different. Pokémon aren't really…you know, real here. If people saw you flying around a grand number of things could happen and not a lot of them are good. Just trust me when I say this Earth isn't used to anything that can't be explained with science. Pokémon are technically magical creatures; you know?" I tried to explain but I didn't really think I was doing a good job at getting my point across personally. I was never really good at giving things in detail since I'm not really one of those people who are quick on the draw with word-play. It's just a lot easier for me if someone can understand the things I describe without me having to talk about it too much. Mira placed a paw to her chin and gave a thinking face as I begin to reply back to Krika1119 and waited for her response. Or should I talk a bit more?
Nah, I'll wait.
"Okay, I can see your point." Whoa, she does? Yes!
"From what you've told me this world isn't used to anything that it doesn't understand, right? So creatures with special powers or even humans with special abilities aren't really a known thing here after all. But I'm curious…what do you think would happen if this world was introduced to such things? Things that their science couldn't explain, I mean." She asked as I was actually forced to stop thinking to collect my thoughts for a second. Geez, how would the world react to something like that? Well…
"For one thing, there would be a mass panic for sure. Everyone running around in frenzies thinking it's the apocalypse or something. Some crazy people would think it's divine intervention and that we're either being blessed or punished for something I could never guess. Scientists would be trying to explain the how's and why's but they couldn't come up with anything concrete if they don't have solid proof on how this shit happened in the first place. At least that's what I'm thinking. Seems like that's how this world would react to some kinda massive new thing like magical creatures, powerful artifacts or even super powers. Not so much so on if we discovered highly advanced technology. We'd all would just learn to utilize it and everything." I explained as best as I could. Mira looked like she was absorbed into what I told her as her face slowly grew more and more surprised. Couldn't blame her though; the Pokémon World wasn't some paradise as it did have its own big problems and even knows the meaning of war as well. People raped, killed, stole, cheated, lied and whatever the hell because no matter what Earth, people were people and I don't just mean humans. But I bet it's a lot better at accepting new and strange things than our world is. If people over there began to develop powers I think that while there would be panic and commotion, they could get over it way quicker than we could be start using those new talents to help and assist their Pokémon a lot better.
"Divine intervention? Apocalypse? You can't be serious?" She asked. I just nodded.
"I'm dead serious. I mean it…people here are crazy. This world most definitely isn't a peaceful one in any way and even the United States government, our government for those living here in North America, would only see that kind of stuff as something to weaponize and keep on a tight leash. For other Pokémon's sake, I hope that none of them ever find their way over here like you and some of the Legendaries can."
She nodded after thinking over my reasoning. "Well when you put it like that, I hope so too. But I think that the humans of this world would also have a very hard time to contain any Pokémon either. It's not like this world has any Pokéballs or anything like that. Besides cages, what does this world have for containment?"
"Uh…bigger cages?"
This just made her snicker lightly. Well, it's kind of true, right? I mean we don't really have energy fields or electrical cages just being handed out to these police stations or anything like that. That's some sort of high-tech government know-how stuff that'll only come out to play if they need to get involved. After all of the T.V. I've either seen, saw, the anime I watch and games I've played or seen, the government being involved in anything would be a big problem for both sides. Who they're protecting and who they're fighting against. All that matters are the money for 'em all over in the Pentagon or wherever else they're held up at. Mira's attention was averted over to my door a second before I heard something bump against it. God, I swear my heart nearly jumped outta my chest from the shock as I immediately thought it was Crystal who I didn't want to see Mira. But she just shook her head to me.
"Don't worry. It's not your sister. It's actually- "The door was slightly pushed open before she could finish her sentence. I turned around to see it was only Jynx as he just strolled on inside. Oh thank God, it's only him. Makes sense as to why Mira wasn't trying to hide or anything. Jynx walked over to me but stopped as his Mira caught his attention.
"Mrow." He let out a noise as Mira drifted back a little. She rose a tiny paw and gave a light wave down to him.
"Um…hi there. My name is…Mira. I'm a Mew." I couldn't help but grin a bit and chuckle a bit. I looked down to Jynx and pat my legs, making him jump up to me. He rubbed his body against my bare chest and snuggled his head into my face as I rubbed his back and scratched the top of his head.
"Mira…animals can't talk." I told her as Jynx continued to divert my attention. Weirdly enough he was making more noises than usual as he did his usual thing but I just assumed he liked the affection more than usual
3rd POV
Mira couldn't believe what Rey had just said to her. Animals can't talk? But he can understand Pokémon just like any other Pokémon. So since she's capable of speaking to the animals of this world like with those seagulls then why couldn't he do the same? Was his human half still the more dominant of the two? That could be a plausible reason. Maybe Rey's brain just hasn't fully adjusted to the change of being his Pokémon half being unlocked and it still has some hardwiring to do before he can understand other kinds of races and their speech patterns. Not saying that would work for any race, but Mira figured that to those with similar speech patterns, then deciphering their languages wouldn't be all that difficult. If only he could understand what his cat friend was saying to her right now.
("You…back the fuck off.") Jynx said as he slowly blinked at her. Mira's eyes widened as she inwardly gasped at him.
"Excuse me!?" She replied back, speaking in his mind. Jynx didn't show that he was surprised; natural cat features and all but he definitely felt it. He had no idea how this creature was doing that but at the moment he didn't care.
("Whoever you are…whatever you are, you just stay the hell away from Stephan. I'm the only one that deserves his attention. Not some freaky, pink, girl cat thing.)
Mira balled her paws into fists as she grits her teeth. If this was her world, then one would see a tick mark appear on her forehead in annoyance. But the vein that began to pulse against her forehead would have to do. She just didn't understand how this insolent little prick got off on talking to her like that. Her! Mew! Of ALL Pokémon, barring her older brothers and father or course. "Listen, you little eye-sore. I have no idea what the hell your problem is but you have no right to say that I can't spend time with Rey! Despite whatever you know about him he's actually MY family! That means that I've been there when he was born and I looked after him when he was a baby all the way into his toddler years! I'm not going to go away just because some white, non-special cat said so! And I already told you, I'm a Mew!"
Jynx gave a hiss as he opened his eyes fully to her. Rey's left hand scratched at the side of his face which made him calm down some. Sweet Jesus, those fingers were pure magic. All of those years of the two interacting this closely had allowed his Stephan to find all of his sensitive spots and then some. Places Jynx himself couldn't even reach with his hind paws alone. But that still didn't deter the pretty large white cat about the pink one in front of him. He wasn't jealous! He just felt that what belonged to him shouldn't ever be shared…ever. He's a cat after all. Cats are possessive in nature and Jynx was a spoiled cat.
Rey looked to Jynx in surprise. "Okay, you're being pretty talkative, huh? I've never heard you speak so much before." Jynx just purred and rubbed the top of his head against Rey's cheek. Rey just moved his head back some and continued to scratch his head and neck, while also rubbing his back. Jynx had shifted his eyes to a still fuming Mira and began to 'speak' again, Rey ignorant to the conversation taking place between the two.
("My problem? You want to know my problem? I can smell your weird, flowery scent all over him. That is a massive problem in itself. And you were there at his birth you say? Then how come he's never mentioned you once before or where exactly have you been ever since I got here years ago?")
"Because he's been separated from us when he was young so of course he wouldn't know! Not to mention I just found him again after all of this time so there!"
If Jynx knew how to sneer, he would be doing it at the moment. ("'Us'? Who's this 'us'? There's more of you mutant cats? Plus, you do know Stephan's a human, right? Not whatever you are. What an idiot.")
"MUTANT!? Why you insufferable, fucking piece of white…! "She gasped lightly when Rey turned to her and looked like he was about to say something but stopped once he noticed her expression.
"You okay? You look tense."
The anger and irritation didn't dissolve one bit. She took a passing glance to Jynx who was still snuggling up to Rey, before giving her a knowing look. She heard him chuckle in his mind which made her grind her teeth even harder. She tried to put on a sweet look as to hide her true feelings. "Oh…it's nothing brother. Just…thought I sensed your sister waking up or something. False alarm is all."
Rey nodded. "Oh. Well…alright. If that's what it was."
Mira waved a paw to show that there was no problem. "I mean it, it's okay. Nothing's wrong, Rey."
Jynx got irritated. ("Stop calling him that. His name's Stephan ya' damn freak.")
Mira's eye twitched as she glared at him once Rey's gaze was diverted back to tending to his cat. "Why do you have to be such an asshole!?"
("No. Not an asshole. I'm a douchebag. Don't get it twisted. And how the fuck can I not,") his eyes moved to Rey, ("I mean look who the fuck raised me for these last few years. You'd be surprised by all of the things he doesn't say or do in front of others. I promise it'll blow your mind. Shows what you know about him though. I mean you have been there since he was born and everything and he is your family or whatever.")
It was taking so much effort for Mira to not do something that she would regret later on. She really, really didn't like this cat. She just couldn't believe that Rey could raise anything to be so ungodly rude! Well, it's not like she really did know all that much about him…as much as she hates to admit that. But he's only ever been so respectful and nice towards her and he hasn't tried to say or do anything that he thought would make her uncomfortable. She hasn't seen him interacting with any other humans though…so was he just giving her the special treatment because of who she was? Or was Jynx right and that he really was someone else entirely when he was around others, like friends or family? Well…if that's the case then she couldn't be stubborn and just outright deny that to be possible. Especially when this is the third day that she's spent with him and the rest of today hasn't even really begun yet. So it was then she decided that she would get to know her brother on a more personal level instead of just a familial one.
Jynx hopped out of Rey's arms and stretched his hind legs. First the left and then the right, splaying his toes as he did so. ("Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go get something to eat. I've had my daily dose of Stephan for the moment.") Then, as if he owned the place, he strutted right out of the room and headed downstairs. For good measure, he had his tail raised high so she could get a good look at his rear-end. He just left a confused Rey as he blinked at seeing the large cat leave.
"Uh, okay then. Bye, Jynx," he looked to Mira and said, "you know, I don't think I've ever heard him speak that much. It's funny how animals can make one noise but they could be saying sentences or something."
"Or insults." Mira grumbled.
"Insults?" Rey repeated with a raised eyebrow.
Mira just shrugged. "I mean, you never know. Animals seem to be like Pokémon in the language department. Normal humans could never tell what they could be saying, right?"
Seeing the logic, he nodded himself. "Yeah. Guess you're right. Well I wish I knew what he thought about seeing you then."
Mira glanced to the side. "Well…if I was in his position…maybe not in the highest regard. I mean…we don't have normal animals back home but most Pokémon do share animal traits. I mean I'm a cat and I know that cats can be possessive about things…or people. Maybe Jynx doesn't like me all that much. I mean another cat spending a lot of time with his human and all."
"Ahhh, I see," Rey said, "well then I hope you two can see eye-to-eye if he shows signs of not liking you. I mean he's not one to play around I don't think. And he's the largest fucking cat on this whole damn street and we have a bunch of cats around this area. He must be mixed with something that's allowed him to get so big." Rey chuckles a little bit and looks back out of the door where Jynx was. "I even like to imagine what he would be as a Pokémon."
Now that definitely caught Mira's attention. Animals becoming Pokémon, huh? "How come you thought of something like that?"
Rey shook his head. "No idea. I mean I guess I just like Pokémon so much that at times I can't help but want to compare them to something or someone. Jynx is the only animal I've ever had a pretty close bond with and I've had a lot of pets as I grew up. So of course I used him as a template."
Mira giggled at the answer. Guess Rey was even more of a nut for Pokémon then he displayed back in the Hall of Origin. Even imagining other beings on this world in a Pokémon context really sounds like something out of wanting to live a fantasy. But Pokémon is super popular here so maybe he wasn't the only one who did that. "Well what Pokémon do you think fits him?"
Rey scratched his head. "I always thought he'd be cool as an Espeon. But he'd keep his white fur and the gem on his forehead would be black, just like the black fur that's there."
Mira tilted her head at the strange thought. She could perfectly picture an Espeon with such features but it was still strange to imagine one in such a vastly different fashion. "That Espeon would be the definition of a Shiny one. But it's a cool design."
Rey decided to pay a bit more attention to his laptop and wrote more to Krika1119. He could talk and type decent enough so he'll do both at once. His mouth moved just as his fingers did. "So I have another question about our version of the Pokémon World. Shiny Pokémon; do Pokémon only have one other color change or do we have others with even newer colors? Like, ones that haven't been documented or whatever. I mean you've been around for millions of years Mira, so what's up?"
Mira thought over her answer a little before replying. "Well…I'm not sure about other Pokémon universes, but for ours, we do have Shiny Pokémon that haven't been seen by mankind before. And those that have seen these other kinds of Pokémon colorings aren't usually all that numerous and it's a rare thing to see. Not to mention that Shiny Pokémon with even newer colors are more scarce to come by then even normal Shiny's of any species. And if it's not the coloring outright then it's definitely some form of marking or other."
Rey's hands left his keyboard as he made fists, lightly pumping them upwards for a show of victory. "Awesome. I was hoping that we'd have something like that. With all of the fan-art of Pokémon that I look at, I was hoping that the Pokémon World would have even more variants of Pokémon."
"You mean color-wise?" Mira asked to which Rey nodded.
"I don't know how else I could've explained that. I mean besides certain very few Pokémon, it's not like others have alternate forms or anything like that. So color-type is usually all I care about."
That just confirmed Mira's suspicions. Very few Pokémon with certain forms? He doesn't know that a decent amount of Kanto Pokémon has alternate forms, so he and the rest of the world have no idea about the Alola Region, where these forms can be found. 'It seems Pokémon information is only released in parts and pieces on this world. Well…if it's a franchise that this Game Freak or Nintendo or whatever Rey says believes they created then they haven't 'thought' of the concept for Alola. Wow…this is all both interesting and confusing at the same time.'
The furious clacking of keyboard keys was enough to jog her from her thoughts. She looked to see what had Rey so enthralled on his laptop. On the screen were bars filled with text, one being a light orange and the other green, with a big white message box below. There were also two pictures in front of both of the bars, with some form of kanji (Which Mira didn't know what the symbol even was) and a picture of a Riolu with a green scarf in front of the green bars. "Hey, what is this?" She asked.
"I'm messaging a good friend of mines right now. His penname is Krika1119 but his real name is Jakob." Rey responded as he clicked the 'Send Message' button before she saw the messages that they both wrote.
DD: Dude, are you serious!? You're moving out of state!? How come!?
Krika: Because my dad was given a new job offer that payed twice as much as the one he has right now. Both of my parents have been talking about it for about a week now and it looks like we're gonna be moving. Mom and dad said that we're going to once Summer Vacation starts for my school.
DD: Seriously? That's around the corner. How do you feel about it?
Krika: I was a little shaken up at first. I mean, it's kinda like those movies that you see where the main character or a whole cast leaves their homes to somewhere far away to start new lives for themselves. It's a weird thing to think about.
DD: (Chuckles) Dude, I never would've even thought of a scenario like that.
Krika: Hey, that's just me. But once I learned where we were moving too, I kinda didn't mind it all that much.
DD: What? Where is it you're moving too? California? Seattle…you know? Like 'inFAMOUS Second Son' and all that?
Krika: Nope. I'm moving to…Ohio! That's where you live, right!? So that means that if I'm close enough, we can ACTUALLY hang out and talk in person and stuff!
DD: (Massive gasp) O_O... OH MY FUCKING GOD, ARE YOU FUCKING WITH ME!? LEGIT!? THAT'S SO AWESOME, MAN! I HOPE YOU DO MOVE CLOSE BECAUSE IF ANYTHING I COULD COME TO YOU EASY SINCE I DRIVE! THERE'S SO MUCH THAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO DO ONCE YOU GET HERE!
Krika: Hahaha! Yeah, I know, right!? I figured you'd love to hear that! Anyway, I'm gonna have to go for now. Gonna go to the movies and then me and my parents are going out to eat somewhere. Talk to you later, yeah?
DD: You bet your ass! We AREN'T done with this conversation!
Krika: (Smirks) Yeah, I know. Later, definitely. Anyway, I'll talk to you later.
DD: Yeah, see ya'!
When Mira was finished reading she looked to Rey, who then turned to see her look at the screen. "This friend of yours is going to move over here, huh," she smiled, "I like how excited you seem when he told you that."
Rey smiled to her and took his hands away from the keyboard and cracked them a bit to ease the muscles from the typing. "I know, right? You have no idea how awesome this is. I mean me and Jakob have been talking for over a year now and sharing a lot of ideas together. Somewhere along the line, we just kinda 'clicked' and started talking on a more personal level about things. Easily the closest pen-pal that I have. But…enough about that." Rey turned in his seat and stood up before stretching his arms out to the side and groaning. "Since you're going to be staying here for a while, I think I should make the most out of it, right?"
"What do you mean?" Mira asked before Rey smirked to her.
"Well with my training, is what I mean. Sure, I've taught myself how to do a couple of cool things and all but I'm not even sure how capable I am with learning Pokémon moves. I mean I am a Pokémon demigod, right? So it should be possible." He explained to her, making Mira nod as she understood. Her being here is partially to help train him anyway, so she was going to do that with him regardless on if he asked her to or not. She figured that it was better that he wanted to better himself so much and as quickly as possible. But there was the sneaking suspicion that it wasn't for the reason he should be training; at least not entirely. Rey did know that Shadow Giratina was after him, sure but he was still more fascinated by the fact that he had powers at all, and was just thinking about how to make himself stronger just because. Not on the grounds that his life was at stake.
'Hmm…I guess that I'm going to have to change that mindset of his just a tad. Sure, he's having fun now but if he doesn't learn that he'll soon be fighting for keeps then he won't last long. So…how do I do that?' It took a few seconds of thinking but she came up with an idea. An unusual one but she was sure that it would help give Rey some much needed experience for the future.
"Alright Rey, I have just the idea to help get you the right kind of experience that you need. Though…if we're going to be taking your training up a step then I don't think those woods you like to go too so much are isolated enough. We'd still be right in the middle of civilization and if explosions started to sound off with trees falling over then someone would definitely come to check it out."
This time, it was Rey who was nodding. "Yeah, I get what you mean," he spoke as he began to put on his tracksuit and jacket, "I was thinking the same thing actually. I don't know what I'm capable of yet but if I somehow fire off a 'Hyper Beam' or something by accident, then I'd at least want it to not be noticeable. So is there any place that you have in mind?"
Mira shook her head, signifying that she didn't. "Well…no. I haven't explored enough of this world yet to know where a lot of locations are. I haven't even read anything regarding the geography of any of it-."
"Wait a second," Rey cut her off as he tied up his right shoe before moving to the other shoe, "I've seen the language of the Pokémon World a lot of times to know that its letters don't resemble anything close to any of the languages we have on this Earth. How could you read anything over here?"
Mira waved a tiny finger to him with a knowing smile on her face. "And that's where you're wrong little brother. Maybe the alphabet that the humans of my world use can't translate to anything over here…but you're forgetting about the Unown characters," the widened eyes she saw on his face let her know that he caught onto what she was saying, "that's right. The Unown and your version of the alphabet are just similar enough for me to be able to read material of this world."
Rey looked to her for a few more seconds before going back to his shoe. "Pokémon kick ass." That was his only statement as he rolled his hand to her, signaling her to continue with what she was saying before.
Getting the message, she started speaking again. "Like I was saying, since I don't know enough of the geography of this world to pick a proper place to help you train…we're just going to have to go somewhere I'm more familiar with."
Rey put on his gloves, making sure to pull the ends tightly and flexing his fingers so that they were on all the way. He felt his heartbeat pick up and he could just guess what Mira was going to tell him but he wanted to wait until she actually said it. His grin wouldn't stop growing though. "I think I like where this is going…."
Mira opened her arms. "So I figured that we can head back to the Pokémon World! What do you say?"
That did it. Rey through his hands over his mouth and practically squealed in them from the news. Nothing too high-pitched since his voice couldn't do that anymore but it was still impressive. He moved his hands away from his face and just nodded multiple times. "Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! I need that in my life! I was just waiting on when I'd actually get to go! Wasn't expecting this early on!"
"But you've been to the Hall of Origin though." Mira stated but Rey shook his head.
"I admit, that place is super large and awesome and I haven't even explored a decent portion of it yet. Can't wait to do that later on but it's not the same as being on the actual world of Pokémon! Where you just see them fly and scurry around everywhere like you'd see animals in the wild do. Except they're just many times cooler! And since I can talk to Pokémon then it'll be even more epic!"
Mira floated closer until she was hovering in front of him with a large smile on her face. Seeing him happy was making her happy and she really liked that a lot. Rey just seemed to give off nothing but powerful positive waves whenever he was really interested in something and right now he was really interested in going to the Pokémon World for real. Thinking about it, the Hall of Origin is a bit of a technicality. Sure, it's in their universe and all but it's an entirely separate realm that no one from the Pokémon can reach. Not by themselves at least, and only the original Legendaries or Legendaries who share the ability to lesser Legends can get there. It was like the Distortion World in that sense. She moved down to grab his hand in her tiny paws and rose his arm up until she was looking at him in the face. "Then let's get going already. I'm sure that we'll have a bunch of fun."
Rey scoffed but smiled anyway. "Remember, this is also for my training. Not to only have fun."
Mira let go of his hand and sat on his shoulder, still smiling. "Oh, I didn't forget. But I like when the two of us play! We're going to have to do that a whole lot more through the years. Though whatever we play…you can't beat me in it."
"Oooooh," Rey droned as he rolled his eyes before shifting them to her, "you'll get it someday. Trust. Anyway it'd probably would be smarter for me to leave the house. Just want to make sure that if my sister is waking up than she hears that I left. Everyone in this house knows that I don't leave this house early because I sleep so late. And I can't chance her stumbling onto some freaky lights going on that vanished out of nowhere and I can't be found. How could I explain any of that? If she is asleep then I don't want to wake her up. Even if I used 'Aura Perception' I wouldn't be able to tell is she was sleep or not because she likes to lay in bed and look at the TV too."
"Ohhhh. That makes sense," she agreed, "okay then. Invisibility for me." Just like that, Rey saw her just seem to vanish into thin air. There wasn't any sort of way she did it besides just fading out. He still felt her light weight on his shoulder though, which he admitted felt pretty weird since he couldn't see her. But he was done wondering about that pointless stuff. He had a whole other world to hop into and he couldn't have been any more excited than he was now. He grabbed the handle to his door and opened it up, the creaking sound allowing anyone within earshot to hear it.
"Brother?" He heard Crystal call from behind her slightly open door, before it was dragged open. Crystal walked out and rubbed her eyes a little bit before yawning. She was an 11-year-old girl with skin a bit lighter than his but not too much. Her black hair was untamed and disheveled showing a bad case of bed head, with her wearing a pink sleeveless T-Shirt and some teal pajama pants.
"Mornin' Crystal." Rey greeted to her as she just walked up to him and gave him a hug. He just sighed and hugged her back for a bit, making sure his face wasn't anywhere near her crazy Goku-like hair. Mira cooed in his mind at the show of affection she witnessed. They broke away as his little sister woke up more as she stretched.
"Where are you going?"
Rey shrugged. "Just…out. Nowhere really."
"Are you going somewhere with Jonta'e or Mohammed?" Crystal asked but Rey shook his head. He just could feel that he was going to have to explain to them what happened later. Again, there was no way he could bullshit his way out of that.
"Uh-uh. Not gonna take my car or anything this time. Just gonna go walk around for a bit before coming back here. My legs are still kinda tired and all." He felt like that was a good excuse. His sister knows how he works out and that he sometimes tells her that it helps put him to sleep when his body's energy feels used up. She just claimed that she'd never workout that much but was jealous at him all the same for it. Oh, of all the times she wished that she didn't gain anything by eating everything in front of her like big bro could.
"That's weird. You going to the forest?" Crystal asked.
Rey nodded as he turned back towards the stairs, seeing Jynx sitting on his haunches at the bottom. Crystal was right behind him as they both came down. "So will it just be me here?" Crystal asked without a hint of worry in her voice. She's had to stay home by herself quite a few times but she learned that it wasn't anything to worry over. Someone was going to be back eventually and then everyone else would follow.
"Yeah. I honestly don't know how long I'll be gone for though. Maybe I might hang out with the guys while I'm out or do something else." Rey said as Crystal headed for the kitchen to make herself some cereal. He looked to see that it was Frosted Flakes. Man, how long has it been since he's had those? Since he's had cereal in general? People really can change the lot the more they grow. Him and the invisible Mira, with Jynx in tow, headed towards the front door. Opening it and the screen door all three of them walked out into the daylight before he closed both doors. Jynx looked up to his human friend to find any trace of that strange mutant cat-thing. A Mew she called herself. He could still smell her strong scent but couldn't see her anywhere. Chalking it up as her getting even more of it on his human, he looked to Rey who knelt down to scratch along his head and neck, making him shiver in pleasure. He mewled from the feel.
("Good lord in heaven, those hands~. Ahhh, yeeeees~") The white cat moaned in his mind, with his eyes closed. He both loved and hated this feeling. Loved it for the obvious reasons but hated it because he knew that it was going to end. If he had to live his life only getting this kind of affection from his human, then he'd be content with it. He didn't want to share him with anyone. He's just that selfish and he's not afraid to admit it. Much to his ire, the inevitable happened and Rey's fingers weren't running through his fur or scratching at his skin below it anymore. Jynx opened his eyes to see Rey staring at him before he pressed his forehead against the cat's. If Jynx could blush, he'd be doing it right now. This was a second thing he loved about him. This was as close to intimacy that Rey sometimes shows him as well. He rubbed his forehead along Rey's and sighed inwardly, letting a loud audible purr escape him to show how much he loved the treatment, before Rey stood up and waved down to him.
"See ya' later buddy." Rey then jogged away from his house and up the hill. Jynx watched him leave and sighed in a small fit of depression before he laid on the ground. He could live only accepting that form of intimacy. He would prefer it if things were…different somehow but this was good enough. Maybe he'd run with the smaller cats, catch some of his own food, roam the block, anything to occupy his time. He had to get some payback on that one black cat a few houses over, for nipping some of his ear off. But he'd always return to the front of the house just to watch as his friend…his master return to him.
He'd always wait for him.
Mira picked up on these thoughts, sending her into her own. Wow…that cat really seemed fond of her brother. Maybe 'fond' is putting it lightly. It's as if he idolizes Rey in a way similar to seeing a light at the end of a dark tunnel. Rey was apparently always on Jynx's mind and it seemed his thoughts might even run deeper than that but she wasn't going to pry, no matter how insufferable he was. Maybe he just always wanted to be with Rey like how a Pokémon is always with its Trainer but it seems that's nowhere near as easy to do with animals. Maybe she'll get lucky and he'll talk about it but she wasn't going to hold her breath. Besides, there were other things to think about at the moment, like how she was going to go about helping Rey in his training. And then the 'test' she'll have for him afterwards… oh she couldn't wait to see the look on his face!
They were in the woods again but not too deep since there was no real need to be. Just on the stone path that had those pot holes the two ran over when they raced before. Mira was floating in front of him with him facing her back as she swiped her arms to the side. Just like that a magenta line of energy sparked before it ripped open into a magenta portal. Rey's eyes were fixated on the mass of energy as he moved a bit closer to it, looking at how the energy swirled with a few hints of black thrown in there. Probably too seriously symbolize 'space' in a way.
"So…I just hop on through?" Rey asked as he moved away a bit and nodded.
"Yup! Go on ahead!"
Rey took a deep breath as he backed up a little, heart beating fast again. He's been preparing his whole life for this moment. Seriously, he's been thinking a lot about if a portal opened up in front of him somewhere and he had the option to just go on through. Weird thing to prepare for but it seemed to have been paying off none the less. He gathered his courage and ran forward, leaping through with a yell of "YEAH BITCH!" with Mira following behind, making it close behind them.
Inside of the portal had to have been the most beautiful thing Rey's ever laid his eyes on as they flew right on through it. The inside was nothing but a mass of magenta like before, however there was a bit blacker energy that swirled into the mix. Inside the black energy were a load of white dots which he figured resembled stars. Tendril mists of power flowed about all around them as he was assaulted with a variety of smells he could and couldn't identify. Maybe since 'Spatial Rend' was a move that was able to connect to the freaking multiverse then some aromas from others worlds were able to seep through. To top it all off, there was a white light in the distance which probably symbolized the 'end of the road' so to speak. These were the things he noticed as he felt the sensation of flying for the first time while he twirled around and screamed at the top of his lungs in pure elation. No words, just screaming because he was too happy to even think of words. He tried to yell 'AWESOME!' with all of his might but it only came out as a 'AAAAAAHHHHHH!'.
Mira flew right beside her verbally happy brother who shot her a big grin. "You having fun!?" She yelled, flying around him in a circle. He just grabbed her by the waist as she made another loop and span them both around with his smile showing all of his visible teeth.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M FUCKING DOING THIS! JESUS, YES!" He let go of her and spread out his arms while he faced forward "I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW LONG I'VE WAITED FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN! Maybe not as I imagined but…I SERIOUSLY DON'T CARE!"
Mira just laughed and giggled at him. She had a feeling that this was going to be a common thing with him. But she didn't mind though. It was much better than him being pretty dull and boring on his outlook on life or other things. But as they neared the white space to signify they made it, Rey began to glow teal with specks of gray in the mix. They both were shocked by this as the guy in question looked to his gloved hands, seeing his power flow around him. "Rey!? What's…!?" She noticed his gem necklace glowing a little under his shirt before it was over in a literal flash. They light from his power engulfed him and in a burst it vanished…but he changed again.
Mira gasped again and said, "R-Rey! You're back too normal again!"
Indeed, the young African American was gone and was replaced with a boy of Caucasian/light tan complexion complete with brown unruly hair that spiked to both sides in the back and hazel eyes. He rolled up a jacket sleeve to see the change in skin tone and removed a glove to feel his hair. "Holy crap," he put his glove back on, "I guess…I can't keep from changing when coming over here?" Mira couldn't answer as they were already flying through the white light. In front of them another portal opened up to a grass hill, overlooking a sea of forest. The cool wind was blowing through which made Rey's hair waver in it, a feeling he's never once experience until now. A very large lake separated the forest from a large mass of plains which had its tree's, bushes and the like spread out. Rey was near speechless at the sight since he's never seen nature in this form before. At least…nowhere near on this scale and so high up.
"This way! Follow me!" Rey looked up into the sky as he heard voice. What he saw made his jaw drop, breath catch in his throat, and grip his head in both hands in that order. He could see Staravia. Real Staravia! In-the-flesh Staravia! Flying over his head! There was 5 of them flying in a triangle formation with one of them in the lead. His voice let Rey know he was male.
"Where are we headed!?"
"I found a whole new place for us to make our home at! You won't believe this massive tree once you see it!"
The boy clad in gray somehow managed to find his voice but it was nothing but a whisper. "Oh my god." He dropped to his knees and covered his mouth, feeling his eyes beginning to build up with water. Mira floated down to pat his shoulder, seeing his tears leaking onto the grass which also waved in the wind.
"Rey? Are you alright?"
"I... I just…" he wiped his eyes of tears and gave a sigh, He sniffed before he moved to sit properly on the ground. "This is just so much to take in, you know? I… finally realized one of my biggest dreams is all. I'll…be okay." He rose his head up and laid backwards onto the grass, staring up into the clouds as they sailed on by. "Just…let me have it all sink in, alright? I've just done what no one on my Earth will ever do. Mira…dream realized over here."
She just nodded with a smile, lying down on her back beside him. They were in that position for a total of 10 minutes before Rey unleashed a big spout of air from his lungs and rolled up to his feet. He groaned loudly until it became a loud shout while he bounced on his toes. Mira floated next to him. "So…I'm going to guess that you're ready to train now?"
"Hell yeah," he exclaimed with rapid head nods, "and we're in Sinnoh I'm guessing. Because of the Staravia and Starly's flying around. Why this region though? I mean…not that I'm complaining or anything."
Mira rubbed the back of her head and gave a light laugh. "Well…your friend you were messaging had a picture of a Riolu and…"
Rey grinned and rolled his eyes, stretching out his legs by crouching to the ground on one and extending the other, pressing down on the knees. "Wow," he said sarcastically, "great reason. A picture decided it." She whapped the back of his head with the tip of her tail which had him grasping it in pain and jumping around comically. Anime-style tears ran down his face as he nursed the bump that was given to him.
"That fuckin' hurt, dammit!"
She smirked and floated forward with her chin up. "Then don't get smart with me. My decisions are good ones; you know? They aren't…always based on simple things."
Feeling the bruise ease, Rey stood beside her. "Hey, simple is good. Simple is the illusion of being a genius." She looked to him with the tilt of her head.
"That was pretty deep. A quote from someone?"
He just gave her a deadpan stare which made her sweatdrop. "No, I mean really, people are dumb as fuck. They can be so fucking over complicated on everything it's ridiculous. So when a guy like me comes along and just gets by doing the basics and half-assing all the time, they all want to try and say that I'm super smart or they could never have thought of something like so-and-so. Mira…I am not a genius. I am not smart, at least not book-smart. I love accomplishing things with effort but not too much of it…except for powers. My powers are a different story. Anyway, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Simple isn't complicated. They are not the same thing. Anyway…let's do this damn thing! No more talking!"
"Okay," Mira said just going along with his way of thinking for now so they can just get to what they came here for, "let's head to those plains. There won't be any wild Pokémon in our way and we can use attacks without worrying about blowing up anything."
He nodded while saying 'yup' as he surged forward down the hill, running as fast as he could to show how still hyped he was at the moment. Mira, easily able to follow along right behind him.
Rey's (Stephan's) POV
Good lord, this is a large hill! The whole point of me jumping into a run in the first place was because I wanted to get to the bottom as fast as I could so me and Mira could get to working on what else I can do. Not to mention that even that meadow area, there was more forest at least at the very edge of it, plus the occasional bush or so. Then there is that gigantic lake that separated the two areas on different sides that was beyond crystal clear. How much so? I could see Water-type Pokémon swimming around a little under the surface! Even from the height that I was at, which I slowly descended from. So yeah, the second thing I cared about was how many more Pokémon that I could see flying or scurrying around. Though the whole point of those plains is because there will be close to no Pokémon since me and Mira don't want anything to happen to anyone of them in case we do something too dangerous. Or at least…if I'm the one doing the dangerous stuff. But that doesn't mean I couldn't see any during breaks or when I was done entirely! Oh my god, now that I'm actually in this world all I wanna do is just go out and see how many more Pokémon I can possibly meet, especially since I can hold a conversation with them! I almost hated-what the fuck am I saying? I kinda do hate that I have to go back home later on because…do I even need to explain it!? In one of the universes of my dreams here! And yes, this universe is number one.
Finally, made it down to the bottom of the hill and I'm still hoofing it. Mira easily caught up and is flying beside me, plus I'm not even winded. It's slow going but my body is seriously getting more durable. Hm, wonder why that is though. It's not like the training I've been doing lately has been too hard? No…hard is the wrong word because let me tell you, using your inner power to literally walk on water is most definitely no cake-walk. I still need to fine-tune that actually but at least climbing on vertical and ceiling-like surfaces is child's play now. So with a couple of more minutes of running we made it to the center of the meadow. I took in air before breathing it all out, actually getting a little something out of that run but not a lot. Hey, maybe I could outpace Usain Bolt for real now.
Mira floated in front of me before closing her eyes for a bit. I could easily tell that she was using her amazing powers, psychic ones probably, to sense for any other signs of life too close to us. Whatever she got had to have been pretty satisfactory because when her eyes opened back up she smiled and nodded. "Okay. We're most definitely in the clear. Any Pokémon in the area are nowhere near us and there also aren't any humans either. That's even better since it'd be pretty hard to explain seeing the fabled Mew with some random kid."
I shrugged and said, "Hey, as long as they don't have cameras I'd be good. It'd give us time for you to teleport us out of here."
She smiled and flew around me in a circle. "So how do you want to do this? Working on what Moves you can do? Or maybe combat?" I held up an arm to stop her from flying around and she did.
"Well first, let me just get my normal workout finished. I don't wanna stop that at least. It lets me see how much more I can push myself." She nodded and floated back a bit. I took a breath before I sat down, laid on my back and got to doing my sit-ups. Then after that would come the push-ups and then leg-lifts. Alright, so I've been doing 100 of each pretty well now and I don't feel as winded like when I was going only 50. Guess that just means I'll put 50 more on the number. So 150 of each while Mira just sat on the ground and watched me work with interest.
"So this is what you've been doing as a warm-up or something?" She asked me after a while. I nodded as I shifted around and got to doing my push-ups, doing my best to try and regulate my breathing. Man, my abs were really feeling this but that was how you knew it was working.
"Yup. I mean I love working with my powers and all, but I've kinda had been doing this routine for a long time now. Sometimes, if I think I'm capable, I'll add in other exercises into the mix. But now more than ever, I need to make sure that my body is as durable as I can get it. So strength and flexibility is a perfect way to start off and I do it every day." I breathed as I got through with 50 and got into the rest of 'em.
Mira nodded in understanding. "I get it. Physical capability alone is very important. I guess Pokémon naturally have good bodies to work with so I don't see all that many Pokémon exercise unless it's a training regimen of some kind for them," she placed a paw to her chin, "though I know Fighting-types sure do like it. Guess it's just a thing with them."
I waited until I was finished with my push-ups before I sat and took more breathes. Once I felt relaxed enough, I opened my legs into a near perfect split and started to raise and lower the right one 150 times. "So I've got a question. Have there been any kind of thing with Pokémon just outright fighting?"
"Hmm? What do you mean?" She asked.
"Well…I guess it's not in Pokémon Battles or anything, but has a Pokémon ever fought without using moves? Like just learning actual fighting moves, techniques, or styles?"
Mira's eyes opened up more in surprise like she never expected to hear something like that. I bet she didn't. I mean even I have to admit that sounded pretty much of a strange concept, even to me. "Whoa. Sorry but I know that I haven't heard of Pokémon fighting in a manner like that before! You mean battling just like how humans learn to fight," I nodded, "definitely not. I mean what would be the point of pure contact-fighting when Pokémon have access to powerful techniques?"
"Yeah, I see your point. Though…if I was a Trainer, I'd try to teach my Pokémon as many things as I could besides how to use more moves. Could be useful as hell and no one knows about that kind of thing yet." It seemed that Mira was considering what I said before I took got into finishing the rest of my exercise. After 20 minutes, I was done with my small bout of conditioning. I wiped the tiny spec of sweat from my forehead and got to my feet but in a crouched position. I slowly rose up and down, bending my knees to get out any creaks in my bones before I stood fully, stretching my arms all the way up feeling extra limber.
I sighed and looked to Mira and said, "Okay, I'm done with my workout. Or at least what currently counts as a workout. I'm ready to try and learn some moves." Jeez, I think I sounded a bit more excited than I actually was because big sis was giving me a very amused stare. I mean I can create a freaking 'Aura Sphere' on some Street Fighter 'Hadouken' shit, which is badass by the way. I can walk on vertical/ceiling-like surfaces, water, jump higher and run faster than any normal human. My fanboy-ness should've calmed down to a more reasonable level after bouncing off the walls for days on end. Guess it's still too early for all of this craziness to sink in. Plus, the thought of gaining more power is always a welcomed one.
"Fine," Mira spoke, "we'll get to the real reason why we've come here. Before we start though, I think it would be better to figure out which moves you're actually able to do."
"Huh? What does that mean? Wouldn't I be capable of doing a lot of them? I mean since Arceus is my dad and all…" I trailed off not really having a deep understanding of my capabilities. I mean it seemed pretty sound to me that while I wouldn't have every move being under my belt, having your father being God of Pokémon should at least give you a lot, right? Guess not since Mira was just shaking her head at me.
"I don't believe it works that way. I may not know the full extent of your abilities Rey, but I do know that you're also a human. At least you currently are since none of us Legendaries know if you're able to transform into Pokémon." Good god, I'd kill so bad to have that ability! Okay, here's to hoping that I get what Mira got! "But since that isn't the case, I think you'd mainly be capable of performing Normal and Fighting-type moves. Maybe some other moves from a few others types because of your Pokémon blood but your Aura mainly reads Normal/Fighting. Though I think it's also because your father's blood-son that I believe you're also capable of learning many more moves of your stronger affiliated types than even most Pokémon of their own types."
Normal/Fighting, huh? That's actually not a bad combination. I mean, sure, Ghost-types would fuck me over because I wouldn't be able to land jack-shit against any of them but I won't focus on that right now. If there's a chance I can gain other moves from other types, or hopefully be able to transform into Pokémon because, my GOD, I would be the absolute definition of OP in ANY universe, then not even Ghost-types would become an issue. And if I can learn a lot of moves anyway then I have nothing to worry about at the moment. So I just nodded and agreed with her. "I get ya'. Alright. Normal and Fighting-type moves for. Now. Which ones do you think I should learn?"
She adopted a thinking pose for a few moments and searched her mental inbox for what would be the best choice-moves for me to go with. She closed her eyes for a moment and gave another smile to me. "I have 3 moves that I think would fit you well. You already know 'Aura Sphere' along with learning new ways to control your Aura that's never been seen before. So a good starting set would be 'Quick Attack', 'Mach Punch', and 'Mega Kick'. That way, you would have 2 Fighting-type moves and 2 Normal-type moves to balance it out."
I grinned and leaned and clenched my fists is excitement at her choices. Those were good moves to start off with! 'Aura Sphere' alone, I'm getting the hang of more and more, and it can either be used up close or I can use it at a distance, so I don't have to worry about range. 'Quick Attack' is good for getting in close or getting far fast, which is something I don't remember seeing happen a lot in the anime. 'Quick Attack' doesn't always have to be about attacking. It can be used to dodge faster too…or to run away fast to live to fight another day if you're battling in the wild or other similar scenarios. 'Mach Punch' is like the punching version of 'Quick Attack' and strikes superfast and super hard from what I've seen Ash's Infernape do once he learned it. And then 'Mega Kick'. Hmm…got nothing to say about that one except for that it's a super powered kick that will fuck your shit up if you let it land. Makes sense since it's one of the strongest Normal-type moves on top of leg strength being stronger than arm strength. Maybe that's what Nintendo-erm-I meant dad had intended when he created that move. Or maybe not and it's just a coincidence it's stronger than 'Mega Punch'.
Or….is that strictly game-stat-logic and it was Nintendo who made it to be that way in only that format?
Fuck, this is too damn confusing.
"So how do we go about me learning them? Wait a second, would I even have the time to learn those in a single day?"
Mira balled her tiny paws up into fists and shot me a determined look. "Don't worry! I know you can do it Rey! Even though you're still very new at this, you seem to really understand Pokémon in a unique way! I'm sure you'll be able to improvise along the way and get the hang of it!"
Wow. Her courage at my ability made me give a small smile to her. How could I not? But there was still a question that I couldn't stop coming to the forefront of my mind. "Well even if I get the hang of a move, how will I know that I get what I'm working for? I mean what if I'm training for 'Mach Punch' yet I get 'Mega Punch'? Or if 'Quick Attack' becomes 'Agility'?"
Mira floated to me with another look of intrigue. "Good question, little brother! I just so happen to have the solution to that little issue!" When she was done exclaiming, she floated up and placed a tiny paw on my forehead. Hehe...her little paw-pads tickle. Then a different kind of tickling was taking place as I felt some sort of…I don't know how to describe it properly. Like my energy was...being directed and slightly twisted around in the pit of my stomach but it wasn't uncomfortable. What was she doing? The feeling then went away once she took her paw off of me so I place my hand where it previously was.
"What…was that?"
"That was my way of helping you get started in the right direction," she giggled. "I don't know how to get into detail about it but imagine that I told your Aura how to channel itself when you start practicing for these moves. It's pretty much instinctual for Pokémon to learn the moves that they're trying to work for and sometimes they just learn a new move out of nowhere. Since your abilities are still a super large wildcard, I figured that it was better to be safe than sorry so that you do gain the desired abilities instead of something else."
That sounded awesome! "Oh! Like a cheat-code to my powers! Okay! Now let's get to me getting these new attacks!"
Suffice to say, this training was 10X harder than anything I've been trying to teach myself. I never imagined that I could do anything harder than trying to walk of water, which still not an easy thing to do. I don't even think I have that fully mastered entirely yet. But a basic run down of what I had to do in order to get these moves Mira wanted was super hard. We started on getting 'Mach Punch' down first. Mira said that I had to learn to punch faster and faster while at the same time increasing the strength behind each one. Since punching air or shadow-boxing wouldn't have done anything to help get me started, she instead created 'Aura Spheres' as target practice. She would send one my way and I would have to punch them down or at least away from me. It started off simple enough; she would make normal sized 'Aura Spheres' but the power behind them wasn't much and she would throw at least 3 at a time. Punching those felt like punching wood that soaked up a lot of water, which was pretty fun to do. Then she progressively started to lay into me with those damn things. She would have multiple spheres circle around her and steadily increase the power when she saw that I was getting used to punching out the previously less durable ones. The 10mph spheres then began to travel at 20mph and finally 30 as the top speed. And if that bullshit wasn't enough, those 3 spheres turned into 10 to 15 of them at a time. Now it felt as if I was punching blocks of wood. Like…those blocks that are used as support beams in construction projects while at the same time, I wasn't an expert boxer. I got hit multiple times which didn't feel pretty at all. My clothes were either dirtied or ripped in some areas and my arms felt numb. It was only after half-an-hour of this torture that when she got ready to fire the 15th 'Aura Sphere' I channeled energy into my right fist as it got coated into teal-grey-specked Aura. Then the slightly mixed colors turned completely white which enshrouded my fist. Even though I was tired all of that training allowed me to see the speed of the energy bomb moving at me. I threw my punch and it shot out faster than even it before I knocked it back to Mira. She gasped in surprise before she swatted the energy attack into the air with a flick of her tail where it exploded.
She congratulated me on getting down 'Mach Punch' afterwards before using 'Heal Pulse' to fix me right up. Well except for my clothes that it. Dammit, and this was my best set too. Maybe she or dad can do something about that? Well I decided to think on that later since I had more important things to do. The next set of training was on how to get 'Quick Attack' going for me. This one was more of a light-hearted form of "training", if I could call it that. Mira was basically going to fly around the clearing and I had to do my best to catch up to her while occasionally focusing energy through my legs and body to speed myself up. I could see right through her ruse though. This was just an over-glorified game of tag. I should've figured that she'd somehow try to get in her playtime while we were on my time. Guess some things never change. But to be honest, though she was fast and running around to catch her was a massive pain, it was definitely easier to do then getting blasted back and forth by 'Aura Spheres'. I wish I had the energy to make a multitude of full-powered ones like that. The most I could manage was 10 full-powered ones before I got exhausted so for the moment, I go about using that move at half-power. That also makes them half the size of a normal 'Aura Sphere' which was the size of my hand but if it got me 20 shots and I could fire it faster than a full-powered one then it worked for me at the moment. Back on the training, there isn't much to go on except Mira slipping just out of my grasp when I got close enough or me having just run after her which left me sweaty again. Legs were also getting one hell of a workout, which was also the point of all this I guess. Look, to save you all time instead of hearing me bitch and moan about Mira just fucking with me on uselessly trying to catch her, I got 'Quick Attack' down after I gave an extra hard push from my legs jump-catch her.
Again. This all took 30 minutes. Can't say I'm complaining about the time frame between all of this. If we finish training in record time, then maybe I could hang around with the Pokémon in the area around here!
Once again, she used 'Heal Pulse' on me and got me back into tip-top shape. It was also then I realized that if you had the power to regenerate or at least heal fast when training is a total bitch, because you'll be forced to work harder than you're currently able without having to worry about any kind of lasting damage on yourself. God, that sucks ass. I'd kinda like a little break from a full hour of this but I was getting results so I could tough out the last session. Now it was onto 'Mega Kick' training and this had to be my favorite one of the three. I didn't get blasted or jerked around; I had to break rocks with only me kicking them. That might not sound like much but remember…this is Mira we're talking about. She doesn't make things simple apparently because the rocks that I had to kick to pieces were the ones that she herself formed out of thin air. No, literally, out of thin air. She used 'Rock Slide' and large rocks started to just drop out of the sky through some kind of ripple-like portals. She made three big rocks for me to break and they were about 3X as big as I was. So the most that I could do at the moment was channel Aura into my legs and kept attacking the first rock. I switched between kicking it multiple times in one area, getting distance before running towards it before striking or jumping in the air to get a gravity boost and came down with a hard stomp. At the very most I was only able to slightly crack it in the places that I hit so I wasn't making much progress. Mira also noticed that I favored using my right leg just as much as I did my right arm and like the training with 'Mach Punch', suggested I swap between the left and right evenly. Hey, I couldn't help but want to use my stronger leg or fist. My left limbs are more for supporting more than anything, like how I write with my left hand.
But I saw her point again. I can't have only two good limbs, let alone them being on the same side of my body. Everything had to be really strong so I could do equal damage with my left limbs compared to my right. Unlike the last two sessions, this one didn't take half-an-hour. It actually took a full one on top of an extra 15 minutes. And in-between those times, Mira helped me with 'Heal Pulse' so my exhaustion would disappear and my legs wouldn't ache anymore.
'Fucking slave driver'. I yelp in pain as I felt the tip of Mira's tail slap the back of my head. I held the sore spot and grit my teeth while glaring at her. She just looked smug and turned her head. Gah, why the hell does she have so much strength in that damn tail!?
"I heard that."
I rolled my eyes in irritation. "Of course you did. That's rude, you know?"
She just smirked while waving her paw in my direction.
(Sigh)...anyway, yeah, an hour and 15 minutes. That's the time it took for me to get 'Mega Kick' down. And the time I got it down was when I was on my third rock. The first one was me just kicking off chunks of it when those pieces grew too weak and cracked. The second one, I was doing more damage after I began to place more Aura into my legs for more damage, so I was at least leaving indents the shape of my foot into the rock which was a good showing. Still not enough to break it down until after 20 minutes. The third one took me kicking it 20 times until I jumped high and my foot glowed blue before I axe-kicked the thing to rubble. And god, did that feel amazing! Better than when I first used 'Aura Sphere' to blast that rock back home actually. Probably because it was me actually physically breaking it instead of using a blast. Anyway, I was busy lying on the ground allowed to actually rest the proper way instead of Mira using 'Heal Pulse'. I mean I have no problem with instant healing or anything but there's something about resting the proper way that feels like you really accomplished the task you were trying to do. This is just the body's way to tell you.
Mira was sitting beside me and had a big smile on her face. "You did a great job today! You managed to get those moves down without too much trouble at all!"
I just turned my head to look at her. I stretched out my arms and legs, which still ached a decent amount but didn't feel sore. Though the feeling was mainly in my legs obviously. "Well I don't know about that. Plus, you kinda let me cheat on learning them."
"Even so, sometimes it takes Pokémon the better part of the day to learn just one new move so you really made fantastic progress!"
Whoa, seriously? Well that definitely made me feel pretty special. I mean a half-Pokémon accomplished more in a single day than a full one? And that doesn't count moves learned from evolving or getting stronger. I refuse to say 'leveling up' because this is the real Pokémon World and this was no game. So no levels, no stats, and none of that "Pokémon Nature" crap. I still don't even understand how the nature of a Pokémon is important in the games at all. I'm guessing that it affects what stats are better but I'm a passionate battler. Not an analyst. And for some reason, it always got me upset that people would put a Pokémon with good potential to the side just because they didn't have the supposed nature that person wanted. It was the same thing that Paul did in Sinnoh when he would toss Pokémon to the side just because he deemed them weak at not knowing a certain move or that they wouldn't battle the way he wanted them too. So I only focused on training my Pokémon to the best of my ability as well as their own; increasing their strengths and give them moves that cover their weaknesses. I may not be a competitive battler in the games but I did fight a good deal of people who were and still won. It just goes to show that even someone like me can take down guys like that.
And some luck never hurt too.
I sat up from my position and grinned down to her. "Is that so? Guess I have more potential than I thought," I made a fist and activated the white glow of 'Mach Punch'. "With what I learned, I can probably hold my own for a while. But I'll hold off on trying to get more moves for myself. I want to practice and master the ones I already know." It just made sense that way to me. You may learn a new trick but that doesn't mean you know how to do it flawlessly or that it can only be performed one-way. Just like how it was when I was doing gymnastics and learned a bunch of different methods on how to perform different tucks and somersaults. You'd be amazed with the many kinds of variants there are. Mira floated up before moving in front of me.
"That's a great idea. Get to know how to use your new abilities better until they become second nature to you. When that happens then you can use them at their best." She floated backwards a bit and looked off into the air. "But since we're done for the day, how about you go enjoy yourself?"
Whoa. I didn't even have to ask? Lucky me. I stood up and said, "Really? I figured you would just take me back home…though I was gonna ask if I could stay here longer."
Mira grinned to me. "Well that's what I figured, myself. I knew you'd want to go and meet some Pokémon and explore the area. I don't have a problem with that. Besides, I have something I need to do anyway?"
"Like what?" I asked.
Mira just waved a paw at me. "Oh, don't worry about that. It's nothing serious. Just go have fun and I'll be back to get you in a while, alright?" She decided to end the conversation there as she flew up into the sky and vanished in a flash of pink with 'Teleport'. I stared at her previous location for a few seconds before looking towards the forest that was a straight shot in front of me, at the edge of the field. I couldn't help but smile as I jogged my way over. Time to meet some Pokémon!
"Oh, yeah. I'll definitely enjoy myself."
I found myself in the large forest a few minutes later and was just wandering nowhere. I had no idea how far I was going to go or how long I was going to be walking but I didn't care at the moment. I was very sure that if Mira wanted to find me then she'd be able to do it without any problems. I mean she is Mew after all so there is a whole lot she's able to do. As I walked through the foliage I could hear the chatter of Pokémon everywhere along with seeing them in the distance or up close! It was just so fucking AWESOME! There wasn't just Sinnoh Pokémon running around like Bidoof, Shinx, Starly, and Budew. There was also the occasional Oddish, Seadot, it's evolved form, Nuzleaf, Furret, etc. There wasn't a whole mess of Pokémon from other regions but you were able to see some here.
"Pst. Hey, check it out. Right there." I turned my head to see a male Bibarel whispering to another one as they stood on the trunk of a down tree. I'm guessing that's been there for a while since the wood had to have seen better days and it pretty scratched up with dents in it. Guess some Pokémon haven't been very kind to nature. Wait a second, those Bibarel are looking at me. "That human there? Did you see him before?"
The other Bibarel shook his head. "No, I didn't. Funny, I thought humans didn't explore this area all that much. But sometimes Trainers do, I guess. So what if there's one here?"
The other Bibarel gaped and extended his arms into the air. "Arceus, where have you been!? You haven't heard about that human somehow was able to do Pokémon attacks!?"
The other Bibarel gaped himself in surprise before looked directly at me. I didn't know what to do at the moment so I just raised my hand and waived to them. "Hey, Bibarel. What's good?" Honestly, what else could I say? That I could understand everything you're saying so chill with talking about me like I'm not here? Damn…I bet a lot of Pokémon around the world must fuck with this world's humans the same way. I mean if the humans can't understand jack-shit of what they say then do Pokémon just sometimes say the most douche-y things to people in their faces because they know they can get away with it? I wouldn't put it past them.
The other Bibarel then gave me a critical eye before he shook his head. "I don't see it. I mean how is that possible?" The first one shrugged.
Okay…well I better move on. I smacked my lips as a way to show that I wasn't going to stick around to hear what else they had to say about me technically to me, so I moved right along to another area. I caught the sight of something small falling towards me from above which had my arm shoot up and catch it. I widened my eyes in surprise when I saw exactly what the thing was. An oval shaped fruit that was purely blue and gave off a slightly sweet scent, with a gray core at the top.
"Oh my god, it's an Oran Berry. I'm holding a real Oran Berry!" It didn't take a genius to know what the first thing that came to my mind was.
What does it taste like?
Well it has a sweet aroma so I could pretty much figure what kind of taste it would have. But it was most definitely going to be a new flavor that I never thought I'd be able to ever taste in life at all. Or maybe it tastes like a fruit I already did eat before and this is just the equivalent to said fruit. Oh well. Bottom's up!
"Um…excuse me. Mr.?" I looked up to see a Starly flap down towards me and hover in my face. From the tone of voice…a young girl. I looked up into the tall branches to see two Staraptor's and two more Starly's. Their little cries sounded exactly just like young children too. So this one must have been born pretty recently.
"Um…yeah, Starly? What is it?" I asked. Can I just say that I'll never get over the fact that I'm talking too real Pokémon? I did? Okay, then how about being able to understand them? That too? I say it too much? Fuckin' bite me. This is too awesome to NOT being up!
She glanced shyly at me while I glanced up at her parents. They leaned forward on their perches and had their wings slightly opened and poised to fly down here if they thought things were gonna get too dangerous for their little girl from what I could see. Good god, that is scary as shit to look at. One wrong move and BAM! You get double 'Brave Bird' through the chest…or something. I just know it'll hurt a lot. More so than Mira's 'Aura Spheres' because I fully believe that parental rage is stronger than underpowered Legendary moves. "I…I dropped that berry. Can I…can I please have it…back?"
I didn't even hesitate. She was just too damn cute for me to do that! So I just gave a little smile and held out my hand with the berry to her. "Sure. Go ahead." She cooed in happiness and plucked the berry into her beak. She gave a muffled 'thank you' to me before flying back up to her parents and siblings. They all seemed to be thrilled at her accomplishment for doing something very brave in their eyes and succeeding at it. Hey, super hearing can be a big boon sometimes. I was about to get back to my trek when I heard, "Wait Mr. Human!"
"Hm?" I looked up to see the Starly I gave the berry back to fly towards me with something in her talon. Something small and white that I couldn't really make out. Maybe it was another berry. "Hey Starly. What is it?"
She smiled again and flapped a little closer to me. "I wanted to say thank you for giving my berry back. So…I wanted to give something to you too. My papa found it lying around and…well…we don't know what to do with it. So…you can have it…if you want."
I rose an eyebrow and held out my right hand. "Uh, sure. Okay then." She nodded and opened her talon, plopping the small spherical object in my hand. I held it between my thumb, index, and middle fingers and brought it closer to my face. It took two second to process what it was and I couldn't have given a louder gasp than I expected too. The thing that was in my hand was an actual Pokéball! And not just any Pokéball, but a Premier Ball! In my opinion, it's probably one of the most special kind to get your hands on! I don't mean to say that in this world's terms, since buying 10 Pokéball's in the game will allow you to get 1 Premier Ball for free. It's just that it's as unique as a Cherish Ball to me. Not to mention it looks cool. Though looking back at Starly, I think I confused her with my reaction since she was giving me a slightly apprehensive look.
"Uh-oh. Did I give you something bad?" She asked. I eased her nerves by giving her a smile and shaking my head. I held out my left arm to her so she can perch on it.
"No way. Actually, you just gave me something incredibly amazing Starly. I'll make sure that I put it to good use someday," I lightly rubbed her head, "so thanks!"
She gave a happy sounding coo at my touch and kind words before flying back up to her family. The bird Pokémon all gave me their fare-wells while I just waved back in reply. Once again, I picked a random direction and started walking. Though this time my attention was diverted to my new Premier Ball. I lightly rolled the marble-sized orb between my fingers, getting a feel for the smooth and metallic material. I even gave the ball a few experimental squeezes just to see how hard it was.
Very hard.
Now for the moment of truth. I moved my finger over to the button at the center and clicked it. I nearly jumped a bit with how abruptly the Premier Ball expanded from the size of a marble to that of a baseball. Or maybe it was even just a tad bigger? I haven't held a baseball in a long time. But now I used both of my hands to turn it around and observe the sphere. The light perfectly reflected off of the surface like how I see it do in the show. I clicked the button again which made the top half of the ball open up with a slight mix of a hissing sound and a pop. The four rectangular screens at the top were slightly reflective but I knew their main purpose were to create those holographic environments for the specific kind of Pokémon that gets caught in the ball. Yes, that's what the balls do when they catch a Pokémon. Think I read that on Super Smash Bros. Brawl or something.
Though I had no idea when I'd really need to use this. I live in the world that believes Pokémon are nothing but a franchise and I can't stay in this one for incredibly obvious reasons. So what would I do if a Pokémon wants to go with me but I can't let them out of the ball most of the time? The more I thought about it, the more obvious it seemed to pick the logical choice that I shouldn't catch a Pokémon. But…my desire and passion for Pokémon themselves were easily counteracting that idea. Not to mention what if I need someone to back me up when shit starts hitting the fan later on in whatever form it comes in? And what if it's a good Pokémon that would want to be my partner? I just signed and closed the top of the ball. I held the button which was my guess on how they shrink, before finding out I was right. I didn't have a Trainer Belt or anything to snap it onto so my jacket pocket worked fine. Thank God for zippers.
"Maybe when I see Mira later, I'll talk to her about it." With that thought in mind, I went on my merry way once again. As I walked, I noticed something that seemed pretty out-of-the-ordinary. I heard less and less chatter of Pokémon which shouldn't have been possible considering where I was at the moment. But it wasn't long until I was in total silence and I won't lie when I say that it had me pretty concerned, unless I was just in a pretty uninhabited part of these forests. Why would they be uninhabited, I had no clue but I had to at least make sure. I kept walking as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, extending my Aura out into the world to see it in a 3rd person point-of-view. Every tree, rock, or anything else was glowing blue as always but there were two distinct changes. For one, everything I saw wasn't a blurry mess anymore. I could perfectly make out everything in my field of vision which was the second thing, as it seemed to have increased dramatically. I would probably guess that my senses were now extended to…what, 2 yards? Maybe 3? That was a pretty decently large jump compared to my range of sensing before. But how come my 'Aura Perception' was so much better all of a sudden?
"Was it because I was training more on my Pokémon aspects?" Guess so. I mean Pokémon can drastically improve if they train hard enough so the same could be said for me too, right? And since my Aura is a mix of human and Pokémon elements than maybe it was also boosted too. My eyes opened when I found that a little section of forest wasn't where it should be. I was now standing in an area that had toppled or broken down tree's, small to medium-sized craters in the ground, and some small patches of upturned land. Because of the cleared view, I could see a large rock mountain in the distance ahead of me. "What the hell happened around here?" I had to have looked around the area multiple times before I realized that I was not going to find anything in the conventional way. So I guess I would have to try unconventional means.
I breathed and closed my eyes as I began to activate my 'Aura Perception'. I honestly had no idea what I was trying to accomplish with this but I've had an idea going on through my head. In some situations, like this you can sense the lingering energy signatures of what was previously in the area. I didn't know how good I was with this ability to try and attempt something like this but there was no reason to not try. A few seconds later, the world was a blue and black tinge with my range seeming to have surprisingly increased a good deal. I mean I was actually able to sense through the entire destroyed area and some of the surrounding forest, which I guessed was about…20 yards at best? I've stood on a football field before so I would like to think I have a pretty good estimate on what that is but the amount of range increase surprised me. Was it from all that crazy training? Back to business, I tried to sense for anything that would appear to be residual energy trails or anything along those lines.
'Now…what can I find here?' I kept the search up for a bit longer until I gasped and found exactly what I was looking for, or at least I was sure it was. A teal, wavy-ish kind of flowing trail that was leading into an open path into the forests. I focused as best as I could on that energy before I was shocked out of my 'Aura Perception' into something else entirely. I was standing in the clearing but on the opposite side of it and much lower to the ground than normal. My vision was looking directly at the ground right below me where I caught sight of a black hind paw and some light breathing coming from me…or the obvious Pokémon I was looking through the eyes of! Seriously, just what in the hell is this!?
I heard chuckling from a deep male voice as the Pokémon shifted their head up and growled lowly. The source for that negative response was a Machoke of all things. One that was cracking his knuckles and smirking as he looked down on me. Them? Us? Gah! For simplicity's sake I'll just say it's the Pokémon I'm seeing, what I'm figuring are the memories, through the eyes of! And for one, can I just say that Machoke in real-life are legit ripped as hell? Jesus, those arms! And those thighs too! Like, my GOD, I would be all over this man in a heartbeat if I was given the option! Ugh, come on, focus! This isn't the time to be checking out used-to-be-fantasy-but-are-now-reality potential mating partners! But...that didn't stop my eyes from wandering to Machoke's spandex.
I pledge to one day have those removed!
Okay…I'm done for real. Though now that I'm getting a more detailed look, Machoke seemed to have a few bruises and scratches on his body. Guess he was fighting whoever this is.
"You don't seriously think you can keep runnin' ya' little punk, do ya'?" Machoke said as he stopped in place. The Pokémon I was sharing memories with, got to their feet and took a single step back. "Where the hell is all of that shit you were spoutin' before about kicking my ass? Or maybe you ain't got nothing after all.'
"Shut the fuck up," Oh, so this Pokémon is male too but more along the teenage variety, "I meant what I said and I'm gonna do it somehow!" This Pokémon grunted. 'Tch. Easier said than done. It's hard to fight someone bigger and stronger than you are.' Whoa! Were those his thoughts!? Oh, that was awesome! I could tell because they had a slight echoing effect that you hear whenever characters on TV think to themselves! But as cool as that is, this little dude is in a pretty tough bind it would seem. Machoke could even tell that whoever this was, was full-of-it evident by that smirk.
"If that's the case…then stop running and back your claim up, kid!" Machoke then placed his hands in front of him with the palms facing each other. In a second, a blue orb of power formed which was double the size of a basketball. Holy crap, that's a 'Focus Blast'! Machoke drew his right arm back and hurled it like a professional baseball player to the smaller Pokémon, as it rushed at him at the same top speed that Mira chucked those 'Aura Sphere's at me, which was 50 mph. This smaller dude was better than I was at quick decisions, cause while I would've either moved out the way or tried to deflect, he jumped out the way. And boy, did the little guy jump high. The 'Focus Blast' blew up against the ground and created a cloud of dust and smoke before it dissipated, leaving that big crater that I saw before. The Pokémon I was with back-flipped in the air before landing. He saw the damage that had been dealt before he turned tail and headed off into the forest at top speed with Machoke shouting in anger at having to chase him down before he proceeded to do so. That was evident by his yells of agitation and anger not ceasing while the small Pokémon dodged the occasional 'Focus Blast'. Before I knew it, everything quickly faded away and I was back in my body staring at the field from my own perspective.
I blinked a bit before I placed a hand over to eye and shook off that vision. "Whoa. Talk about vivid. Just…who was that Pokémon?" I hate that I wasn't able to see that vision in a third-person-perspective like Ash did with that Riolu from Sinnoh. I could at least see just who I was looking through the eyes of if that was the case. I looked over to where he ran away from that Machoke and realized that guy might still be in trouble. If so, then I better get my move on. I sprung from my position and raced towards the make-shift path in the woods as fast as I could go, my arms in a streamlined position behind me in a Sonic the Hedgehog/Naruto fashion. Hey, why not when you're running as fast as I am? As I ran through, I noticed more craters, broken rocks, and trees. Damn, that Machoke doesn't play games, does he? Just why is he chasing that Pokémon anyway?
I jump into a slide to avoid the tree that I was coming up to and leaped back to my feet. A few more, and I decide to jump on top of the first one before front flipping over the other two, landing in a roll before getting my stride once again. I may not have learned the Pokémon move, 'Agility' but, damn, do I sure as hell got it where it counts. I was could hear a bit more explosions in the distance that progressively got louder and louder. I guess I was coming up to the area that they were currently at. But what happens once I actually get there though? I can't really fight a Pokémon myself, can I? Human bullies are in a much lower league than Pokémon ones, on the ground that they don't have super tough bodies built for battle or magical-like powers than can do nearly anything. Maybe I can just grab the smaller Pokémon and run? For some reason…a part of me didn't like that idea one bit. That part of me wanted to test my skills against this Machoke and see what I was currently capable of and in some weird way, that made sense. How else could I know that this training was worth something if I don't put it to the test?
I sighed as I felt two energies just a little bit further ahead of me. Well whatever I decide to do, I better make my choice fast. The scenery began to change when I took notice of it. There wasn't as much grass and trees as before. Those two things were slowly joined by dirt, stone, and bigger rocks. The air also seemed to become a tad dry and that mountain I saw in the distance earlier was actually pretty close now. Guess that's where Machoke and the other Pokémon stopped. I rushed past the last of the foliage and stopped to see something both expected and highly unexpected at the same time. Machoke was there, standing over the smaller Pokémon that I saw the recent memories of. And it made sense now that I saw what it was.
A Riolu, of all things but I had the sneaking suspicion that it was. What other Pokémon besides the Riolu line could connect that powerfully with Aura? However, this Riolu was completely unique. For one, the fur between his small ears was ruffled. Three tuffs were ruffled pointed downwards, which gave him the impression of having hair. Number two, uh…if Shiny Riolu were yellow…then what the hell was up with the white fur!? Seriously! The fur that was normally supposed to be colored blue was all white, while the fur that was black stayed black. So his 'mask', the top of his chest, the line of black fur down a Riolu's back, and legs were all their natural color. I don't think I've ever seen such an epic Riolu in my entire life. And he was busy avoiding Machoke's punches and kicks, which each looked like they carried enough force to put a hole through someone. Riolu, backed up into a boulder unsuspectingly and tried to move but Machoke was over him in an instant. I couldn't see his face but I could hear the large Fighting-type chuckle at trapping the little guy as he reared his fist back, it glowing red with what seemed to have been 'Rock Smash'.
"Any last words reject?" Machoke goaded as his fist glowed a brighter red.
"Go fuck yourself!" Riolu yelled back in anger while Machoke chuckled again.
"Cute. Now this'll only hurt for a second!"
I didn't know what happened next. I was…I was just moving. Moving fast. Faster than when I ran here. My body was just acting on its own as I jumped and soared at Machoke with my use of 'Quick Attack'. I clenched the end of the glove on my right hand, pulling it down some to make sure it was firmly fitting my palm. I brought my arm behind me and clenched my hand into a very tight fist before I yelled. Machoke and Riolu were surprised by the shout but neither could react as Machoke, who was turning to see what was behind him, instead was met with my fist. The blow creating a harsh impact as I punched him through the boulder, taking most of it with him while Riolu ducked in reflex. Machoke cartwheeled in the air a few times before he came into contact with the ground, forcing him to fall over his ass over and over. He then crashed into the mountain, kicking up dust and cratering inside of it. I breathed quickly as my adrenaline began to wear off. I looked at my fist, the half-broken boulder, and Machoke in that crater. His head was slightly dropped forward and seemed to be unconscious. Holy…fuck. Did I…just do what I just did?
"Holy shit." Yeah, that was the only thing I could say.
"You're telling me! Holy shit!" I lightly jumped as I looked to the white Riolu with 'hair'. He was looking up at me in amazement and confusion in his eyes. He hopped onto the broken half of the boulder to see what I did to Machoke, just to make sure that it was for real. He then turned to me, now at my eye-level, and exclaimed, "THAT WAS SO EPIC! HOW'D YOU DO WHAT YOU DID!? I mean…you're a human! But you just punched that asshole's light's out!"
"I…uh…you know?" No, that's not a good answer. Give him something more. "Let me start that over. For one…my name is Rey. And it's just…I'm kinda 'special' among other humans. I'm a LOT stronger and faster too."
Riolu's excitement dimmed a bit as he gave me a critical eye. He closed his eyes as his locks lightly wavered. Is he sensing my emotions? His locks dropped back to the sides of his face as he opened his eyes. "You're not telling me everything. I can tell. For one, your Aura-level is super high. Humans don't have Aura that strong and I don't believe that having energy like that just adds strength and speed," he crossed his arms, "what aren't you telling me?"
Ah, why the hell not tell the guy a bit more? "Well…yeah. I can use Aura too. Like I can use that to enhance my body or even use 'Aura Sphere' and do other cool things."
Riolu grinned broadly as he looked to me. "I knew it! You DO have Aura powers!"
"Not just that either. I trained to use a couple of Pokémon attacks too."
Riolu looked at me as if I grew a second head and did a double take. Yeah, guess that isn't something Pokémon expect to hear from humans. Even I'm still not totally used to all of this crazy but awesome Pokémon stuff myself. Hard to believe that just a little under a week ago, my life was as normal as normal could be. "REALLY!?"
I smile a little bit and nod. "Yeah. Plus 'Aura Sphere', I can only do four moves. I can also use 'Quick Attack', 'Mach Punch', and 'Mega Kick'. But I honestly JUST learned the last three so I have no experience in using them all that much. I haven't even used 'Aura Sphere' in battle against anyone yet. Speaking of moves, which ones do you know?"
Riolu held up his head and gave a pretty proud look. "I'd like to say…a lot thanks to all the training and fighting I've done up to this point. I can use 'Quick Attack' too! Then there's 'Double Team', 'Force Palm', 'Vacuum Wave', 'Blaze Kick', and finally, 'Agility'. I gasp in surprise at his move set. I mean how could I not? I've never heard of any wild Pokémon having six moves to use! That most definitely was a lot! Plus, he has 'Blaze Kick' too? That would mean he got it from a parent because Riolu can't learn that attack. My surprise alone was enough of an answer for him as he gave a big grin at my expression. "I know I'm cool. Don't even have to say anyth- ", he stopped and his eyes shot open when he finally realized something, "Wait a second! YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I'M SAYING!?"
Holy shit, I completely forgot how normal that is for me now. Something tells me that this is going to be something pretty constant. Before I could answer him though, the two of us jerked in shock when we heard Machoke give a shout before he broke out of that crater I put him in. He took a few step away from it and cracked his neck before his eyes trained on me. I didn't like the glare that he was giving in the slightest and my heart began to beat faster in…fear? Anticipation? Excitement? I just suddenly realized that my plan to escape with Riolu was instead wasted with the two of us talking. God, I felt like such a fucking dumbass! How could I miss a chance like that!? Now I know that I was going to have to fight!
He traced the small bruise that was left on his left cheek. "You…a…a human!? A human attacked me!?" He removed his hand from his face while he expression didn't change. Does he even feel that bruise anymore!? I put every ounce of my adrenaline in that punch! I sent him blasting through a boulder and he crashed into a mountain of rock! Maybe I should've used 'Mach Punch' for extra power? Jesus Christ, Pokémon are terrifying.
And why does he still look sexy!?
"Well…you were attacking Riolu and…" I glanced at the Pokémon in question while my words died in my voice. I was still that blend of apprehensive and excited at fighting this man. I'm pretty sure the latter feeling was going to die out quite soon. Machoke's glare then sported a grin as he looked between me and Riolu, slowly walking over here.
Oh shit.
"So you came to the reject's rescue? I can't imagine why. I mean just look at him!"
I probably shouldn't have but I did anyway to see what the big deal was. I didn't get it at first until I saw Riolu raise his right paw to grip his left arm. Wait…no, he's gripping his fur on his arm while giving it a hateful glare. I then blinked in realization and kicked myself mentally for not seeing it immediately. Machoke's talking about Riolu being a Shiny. A not just a normal one but a very special Shiny. He was weirder than the definition of weird and maybe other Pokémon made fun of him for it. Being judged by your color. Wow. If only his fur color was black and white instead of white and black and I would be calling this Machoke a massive racist.
Riolu growled lowly as his glare shot up to Machoke, with his eyes looking a little misty. "Shut up! So I'm white instead of blue! Who gives a Rattata's ass!? I don't need you and those other jerks to keep reminding me!"
I honestly couldn't help but feel instantly mad at Machoke, so I rounded on him too. "Wait, you're attacking him because he's a Shiny!? The hell is your damage!?"
They both gave me a curious stare. "Shiny? What does that mean?"
"Oh, uh…it's a tern humans came up with for Pokémon that are a different color than the norm." Now that I think about it, it makes sense that Pokémon wouldn't know that term. Plus, people in this world might not really know that either. I mean I haven't heard anyone using it but I've also never seen a white Riolu either.
Machoke just shrugged his shoulders at my explanation and continued from where I asked my question. "That's just a bonus. He just declared he could take me out and I'm just giving him the fight he wants." He walked a bit faster towards us.
Oh shit!
He looked to me. "And you must have the balls of a Steel-type to pull what you just pulled. Only cowards throw sucker punches like that. Guess you want this beat-down too!" He yelled and started running!
OH SHIT!
Riolu quickly glanced to me and held up his left paw. "Team up!?"
I nodded frantically and grasped it. "Team up! Now split!" The two of us ran at opposite directions with me going left and Riolu going right. Apparently, I was the one who was lucky enough to incur Machoke's wrath more-so since he veered right after me and I had no time to properly get away before he was in front of me with his right fist reared back, his hand in a tight with and glowing with 'Rock Smash'. Two things jumped through my brain in that moment.
One…he looked extremely LESS sexy than he did earlier, with him about to cave my face in.
Two…HOLY FUCKING SHIT!
3rd POV
Machoke managed to get his revenge on Rey for that punch earlier. He slammed the devastating 'Rock Smash' into his right cheek, with the force from the blow more than enough to knock the Pokémon demigod's brain around in his skull. The effect of the attack obviously didn't stop there. Rey's head shot to the ground and slammed hard into it while the force of the hit had him tumbling across it, making him beyond dizzy and feeling sick. It was 5 long seconds before he slowed down enough to drag to a stop, making a short trail in the dirt with his body while his motor skills left him for the moment.
Riolu's eyes widened in horror at seeing his new human friend (At least he hoped they were friends) get taken down like that. He may not have known how durable humans were but he was certain that a blow like that from a Pokémon like Machoke would've more than likely killed someone, or at least severely injured them. He just couldn't believe that after surprising him in such an amazing way, he was taken down so easily but the more he watched Rey's body twitch, the more he felt that knot of worry tighten in his chest.
"REY, GET UP! YOU HAVE TO GET UP!" He cried out, not knowing why he immediately cared so much. Maybe he felt more confident in fighting Machoke if he had help or it could've been he was just genuinely worried about the state of the human with special abilities. Machoke gave a kick to Rey's ribs, making the teen cough in pain as his eyes tried to focus on something. His vision was blurred and he saw three of everything spinning around. His face felt like it was on fire as he tasted blood in his mouth. His ribs ached from that kick but…he still couldn't move. Everything hurt too much. It was taking everything he had to not shed tears from the amount of agony he was in.
"Tch. So that was it, huh? One little jab and you're down? What a weakling!" He grabbed the scruff of Rey's jacket and pulled him up of his feet. If Rey was properly conscious, he would've noticed that Machoke was actually around the same height as him. Not 4'11 like the Pokédex of Earth Prime says his species was, meaning not all Pokémon sizes are the same as what people figured they were. "You were nothing but a fuckin' human who bit off more than he could chew, huh?" Machoke just grinned and drew back his left hand, charging it with his signature 'Rock Smash'. Rey was able to focus enough to see the attack that was ready for him but he was still too jumbled.
'Body, work with me here. Move. Move! At least let me move my fucking arms!' He tried but he was still just hanging there in the Fighting-type's grasp as he was about to get punched again.
"Blaze Kick!" Machoke wasn't expecting a flaming hind paw to slam into his right cheek from behind him. The attack sent him tumbling to the left and falling to the ground. Rey was sent tumbling out of his grip while Machoke growled in pain at feeling his right cheek get burned. Riolu breathed as the flames around his right foot extinguished before he ran over to Rey and tried to help him up by placing one of his arms over his neck. "Come on! Get up, Rey! Get the hell up! You can keep going, can't you!?"
"R-Riolu…thanks." He coughed a few times and spat some blood from his mouth to the gravel he landed in. He managed to get to his knees and placed his left gloved hand on the ground to steady himself. His vision slowly came back along with the feeling in his muscles, albeit a bit slowly. "I really…got the shit knocked outta me, didn't I?"
"What do you think?" Riolu said urgently but still gave a small smile, especially at seeing Rey get up to his feet. He wobbled a little but managed to stay standing. He then was hit with pain as he placed one hand on his cheek and the other on his ribs before groaning loudly. Riolu looked concerned and held up his paws in his direction.
"Are you okay? You hurt bad?"
"Believe it or not…I was never hurt this bad! Ever!" He glanced over to see Machoke get to a knee a wipe his other cheek as he glared at them. He glared back, feeling a spark of some sort light up in his head. The same one he had gotten when facing those idiots back home with Jonta'e and Mohammed. "But I'm gonna hurt you even more."
Machoke chuckled and stood up, looking at the both of them. "So you got up. Funny how if either of you weren't here then I would've killed the one that was. Guess weaklings stick together."
Riolu stepped forward and punched a fist in his paw. "Well these 'weaklings' are gonna kick the hell out of you!"
Both of Machoke's fists then lit up with 'Rock Smash' as he got ready to fight some more. "I'd just love to see you try!"
Rey felt that it was time to not be helpless and do his part in helping Riolu. This was the kind of stuff he had been training for and he was going to have to put it all to the test eventually. This Machoke was going to be his first real hurdle…along with some help. "Riolu…we're really gonna have to work together here. I may not be a Trainer or anything…but if I have an idea then can I trust you to follow it through right there?"
Riolu glanced to Rey and caught his eyes before nodding once. "Sure. Anything to win right now works for me."
Rey felt his heart begin to jump faster and faster again from the response. This was a serious situation but it was also going to be a super cool one, most definitely. "Alright. We'll hit him with a mix of tag-attacks and single ones," he threw his arm out to Machoke and grinned in elation, "Riolu, use Quick Attack to confuse him!" Riolu did as he promised and acted on the command. He was a bit surprised that Rey's meaning behind that statement meant to command him like the guy was his Trainer but he didn't mind it all that much. He shot towards Machoke with a stream of white light surrounding him, rushing at the bigger 'mon at crazy speeds. Machoke managed to track Riolu and threw a 'Rock Smash' punch down to where he was going to land but wasn't expecting Riolu to sharply jerk to the right, making him punch through grass and rock. He growled at he tried to punch Riolu again but he zipped under his legs and struck the ground once more.
"Dammit! Hold still!" Machoke yelled as he swung around and around but Riolu always zipped out of his reach. By the 10th miss, he was too pissed to try and do this the conventional sense so he had a plan of his own. He cancelled 'Rock Smash' and dropped to the ground with a single leg extended. "Low Sweep!"
Rey was on the dime with his command. "Jump with Quick Attack!" Riolu narrowly missed Machoke's circular leg sweep as he zipped into the air in a white flash. Riolu was a bit surprised at the command, never thinking before on using 'Quick Attack' to enhance his evade speed. He was actually beginning to have fun pretending to be a Trainer's Pokémon, seeing why trained Pokémon got such kicks out of having Trainers. The impressive battle tactics. He looked down to see he had a clear shot of Machoke's back and saw Rey throw out both arms to the side while issuing another command simultaneously. "From there, use Vacuum Wave!"
Riolu grinned as he gave a rising yell from channeling a funnel of wind around him, filling him with its energy. He crossed his arms over his chest before throwing them to the sides similar to Rey, as an arched burst of Fighting-type wind flew from him and crashed against Machoke's back. The blow made him give a grunt in pain as he was forced to a knee, from when he was just about to stand back up. Rey saw his chance and ran forward while his right fist glowed white. "My turn! Mach Punch!" Machoke caught Rey's declaration of a Pokémon move which shocked him enough to give said person the opportunity to slam the super-fast fist across his face. Machoke tumbled again but handled his blow better than Rey did. He tucked and rolled until he pushed off his arms and landed on his feet.
"He can use moves!? The fuck kind of human is this!? Is he human at all!?" Machoke thought aloud in shock but quickly got his head back in the game when he saw Rey rushing towards him again with another 'Mach Punch'. "Not this time!" He threw up his left hand just as Rey gave a battle cry and swung his energy fist at him. There was a small shockwave from the impact but Machoke caught the 'Mach Punch' with no issue before he gripped Rey's fist tightly.
"Gah! Son of a…!" Rey yelled in pain as his left fist glowed with power. His eyes shifted to Machoke's arm before he tried to punch it so he could free himself but gasped when the Pokémon caught that too, cancelling the move in both his fists. Machoke grinned at him before his muscles bulged as he applied more force to Rey's fists, which had him screaming loudly at feeling his hands slowly get crushed. Machoke began to slowly twists his arms around which forced Rey to his knees still screaming. His screams were a signal for Riolu to go and do something to help his new friend. He was nothing but a white blur, both from his fur color and his use of 'Quick Attack' as he slammed into Machoke's chest to forcefully separate him and Rey. The blow worked but Machoke didn't fall out this time: he had dug his feet into the dirt as he slid back a decent number of feet before stopping.
Riolu landed in front of Rey, who began to message his injured hands. "Rey, you alright!?"
Machoke used that distraction to bring his hands to his right hip to charge a 'Focus Blast' between his palms. "You should keep your focus where it counts, eye-sore! Focus Blast!" He threw his arms forward while Riolu caught the attack flying at him at a speed that was too fast to dodge. He could only guard with his arms cross in front of him as took the attack, but he yelled as he was launched into the air. Rey had covered his face from the force and smoke that was created when Riolu was struck. He took a quick glance to Riolu before looking back to Machoke who was already charging another blast. Without time to think, Rey hopped to his feet and mimicked his stance as Aura gathered between his palms. The thoughts of having fun and chanting 'Kamehameha' were far from his mind at the moment. When both opponents felt their attacks reach the peak of their power they released them.
"Focus Blast!"
"Aura Sphere: Fire!"
The blue and teal-grey-specked orbs fired from their palms at high speed and met in the middle, exploding violently. The ground shook from the tremors the collision between the energy blasts crated, while a large pillar of smoke arose from the blast radius. The shockwave also knocked Machoke and Rey back a decent amount from how close they were to the epicenter of where the impact took place. Rey quickly sat up while Riolu, a bit more ruffed up from that 'Focus Blast' ran next to him.
"What now?" The small Pokémon asked him, looking into the smoke.
"How good are you at sensing Aura?" Rey asked, already having a plan from seeing the smoke.
"I may not be a master yet but I like to think I'm good enough to get by."
Rey nodded and looked to the smoke. "We'll use that to our advantage right now. We're gonna use 'Aura Perception' to coordinate attacks in the smoke."
Riolu gave him a questioning look. "What was that? 'Aura Perception'?"
Rey shrugged. "Sounds cooler than saying 'Aura Sense' or something."
Riolu nodded with a small grin. "Sounds cool. 'Aura Perception', huh? Alright then."
The two nodded and closed their eyes together while Riolu's locks lightly rose. The area turned dim while Machoke's Aura was seen in the smoke as he gave off the emotions of being slightly nervous on where his enemies could be. Rey pointed to the smoke, which Riolu was able to 'see' as well. "Okay Riolu, let's make this harder on him. Use Agility to move even faster without letting him know where you are and hit him with Force Palm over and over." Riolu nodded before his form blurred away entirely thanks to the super high speed of 'Agility'. A small funnel was made in the smoke to show his indication of rushing into it, with Rey being able to see his movements thanks to 'Aura Perception'. Riolu acted on the plan immediately as he appeared in front of Machoke before he jumped up to his mid-section, and slammed his palm hard into it, which had a yellow shockwave accompany it.
Machoke gave a yell of pain before gritting his teeth to fight through the pain in his gut. "Is that you ya' little mutt!?" He slammed a 'Rock Smash' at the area in front of him, but he narrowly missed Riolu as he punched a hole in the ground. He pulled his fist from the ground before yelling as another 'Force Palm' slammed into his back which had him yell again. He whipped around sweeping his right arm at nothing, as Riolu vanished again. Machoke's side was struck next which had him stubble to the side before he fell to a knee. Machoke felt that enough was enough with this cat and mouse game. He knew that he had no chance of fighting back in this smoke which he was getting knocked around in, so that left him with a single option. "Dig!" He bent down to the ground and quickly plowed down into the soil, avoiding another strike from Riolu.
"What!?" He exclaimed as the smoke began to fade away finally. Both his and Rey's eyes opened in shock as they stared at the hole in the ground. They weren't expecting him to make a quick evade like that at all.
"He knows how to use 'Dig'!? Riolu, be on guard!" Rey exclaimed to the Shiny Fighting-type who nodded his head in agreement.
"R-right! Okay!" He barely finished speaking once the ground burst apart beside him, which had Riolu jerking terribly at Machoke's sudden appearance. Machoke didn't waste his chance of an opening for gloating and instead used it for payback. He spun horizontally in the air before his leg shot out and caught Riolu's side when he tried to evade. "Rolling Kick!" The blow was powerful as it was strong enough to send Riolu flying away towards the mountain, as he flipped uncontrollably in the air. Machoke landed and grinned at seeing him deal such a strong attack on the little annoyance that was causing him trouble.
"Riolu!" Rey screamed as he saw his new Pokémon buddy get knocked away like that. His gaze quickly shifted to Machoke, figuring that he had to get revenge for Riolu right now. Activating 'Mach Punch' he ran towards Machoke, intent on landing some good attacks on him to the best of his ability. Machoke easily noticed the charging demigod and readied himself to face Rey. Once said person was in punching distance he began to lay into Machoke with 'Mach Punch'. He tried for some punches to the abdomen but Machoke blocked the strikes with his palms. Machoke tried for a 'Rock Smash' hook but Rey's enhanced reflexes helped him to duck under the blow which gave him the opening he needed to land punch after punch on Machoke's pectorals. Even though the hits were connecting and he was making Machoke step back bit by bit, the beefier male just grunted and took the hits like a pro. That didn't mean Rey wasn't in the zone when more punches made contact.
"Bitch." (Left straight) "Bitch, bitch, bitch." (Right, left, right) He went for a hard left to the chest but Machoke managed to catch that, but Rey just used the momentum from the failed attack to swing his right arm and land a hard right hook to the left side of his face, with an accompanying "BITCH!"
Machoke glared hatefully at him, still keeping his grip on Rey's left fist. "I'm getting sick of that shit!" He yanked Rey forward by his left arm just to bring up his right knee and smash it into his gut. Rey hacked out a glob of saliva as his stomach felt like it was crushed. Machoke let go of his fist as he readied a 'Rock Smash'. "You're getting really annoying!" He sent a hard punch to Rey's left temple which forced a shriek of pain from him while sending him to the ground, slightly cratering it. It was knocked for another dizzy spell against but he forced his body to get up, his legs wobbling uncontrollably. Machoke didn't give any reprieve and struck Rey in the stomach once more with 'Rock Smash'. This time, Rey was sent into a coughing fit as he had to fight to not spit bile from the assault on his abdominal area. He somehow managed to glare back at Machoke and stumbled over to him, with 'Mach Punch' active. He sent two wild left hooks but Machoke blocked them both, feeling that he didn't even have to use moves from this point to take down this human.
Even if this human for some reason could use Pokémon moves.
Machoke just punched his right temple to pair off the damage done to the left while giving a hard uppercut, which knocked Rey's head upwards. He stumbled back as he fought to stay standing but his legs were too weak to follow through with his brains commands. Those struggling communications were shut down entirely once Machoke gave a hard kick to his chest which sent Rey tumbling along the ground a bit as he laid unmoving on his front. Machoke spat at the ground and rubbed at his left cheek where Rey struck him once more. "Damn human. Persistent as hell but just because you've got some power doesn't mean you could beat someone like me. You never stood a real chance and you better remember that."
He turned and glanced to Riolu who was struggling to stand up, and holding his left side which ached from Machoke's 'Rolling Kick'. Machoke smirked at him before glancing down to Rey, who was struggling to get up himself. "Now if you'll excuse me, I got a little piss-ant to take care of." He strolled over to Riolu who managed to get to his feet. He breathed deeply from his exhaustion piled on top of the wounds his received but he still wasn't willing to give up. He glared hatefully at seeing Machoke approach him with that smug expression on his battered face, but he still didn't look as bad as Riolu did. Though he noticed that if Machoke was headed towards him then what happened to…he shifted his eyes to the right to see Rey in pretty bad shape on the ground a fair distance away. He was trying and failing to get back to his feet with every attempt while his face seemed to contort as if he was going to hurl at any moment.
"Rey…dammit," he let go of his side and make a fist, staring Machoke down, "asshole! You're…you're gonna- "
"I'm gonna what?" Machoke stopped 10 feet from Riolu and crossed his arms, smirking. "I'm gonna lose? I'm gonna get it? From who? You!?" He jabbed a thumb to Rey who slowly got to a knee but struggled to get higher. "You talking about him? From what I see? I'm the one who's on the winning side here. You guys are doing nothing but stalling the inevitable. Just accept it. I'm too powerful for either of you."
"Well I know I won't give up!" Riolu declared as he brought his arms to his sides, ready to continue fighting despite his exhaustion.
Machoke only chuckled as he brought his palms to his right side, a blue sphere of energy beginning to form. "Suit yourself, brat. Just stand there like a good weakling and I'll make this quick."
Riolu took a step back as he watched the 'Focus Blast' gain more and more power with each passing second. He had to come up with something to get him out of this situation and turn the tables once more but he was drawing nothing but blanks. 'Dammit! Just…what can I do now!? I gotta think of something quick!'
His mind raced as he tried to formulate a plan but nothing came to mind. His body still ached from that 'Rolling Kick'. He didn't know if he could properly move because of how unsteady he felt on his legs and that any immediate movement would have them give out from under him. Riolu just watched as the 'Focus Blast' reached full power once again with Machoke grinning like a mad-mon. "This is the end of the line kid! Focus Blast!" Riolu clenched his eyes shut and grit his teeth tightly as he expected to be blasted at point-blank range. Machoke was about to throw launch the energy bomb but didn't anticipate a strong backhand to be delivered to his left cheek from behind. The attack knocked his head to the right and sent his control out of whack, as he fired the 'Focus Blast' way off of its intended course, blasting a chuck out of the rock wall.
Rey, who managed to punch and dash by Machoke with 'Quick Attack', ran to Riolu and grabbed the smaller Pokémon without stopping. He kept up the high-speed on his slightly numb legs as he put his Aura Control to immediate use by running up the side of the mountain in an arch. Riolu opened his eyes after being abruptly grabbed and yelped loudly as he clung on to Rey for dear life, as the boy ran along the side of the mountain. "WHOA! HOLY CRAP! HOW-HOW ARE YOU- "
"TALK LATER!" Rey exclaimed as he stopped for a moment and turned so they were facing the ground, specifically Machoke, who got his bearing back and looked to Rey with his mouth agape.
"What the fuck?" He said in a mix of confusion and disbelief before he shook his head and decided that wondering how the teen was standing on the vertical surface was irrelevant. It would be much simpler to just blast the both of them down. So he extended both his arms to his sides and created a 'Focus Blast' in each hand, showing that he had enough games. Rey and Riolu's eyes widened as the former took a few backward steps up the rocky structure.
"Run," Riolu said watching Machoke rear one of his arms back, "run, run, run, run, RUN!" Rey snapped out of his stupor and took the Riolu's advice. When the first blast was sent flying, he took off. The attack narrowly missed them and created a small explosion. The close proximity of the force nearly knocked Rey off balance but he managed to keep his footing while Riolu gave him instructions on where to dodge, since his focus was mainly on Machoke. "Left! Right! Back! Back some more! Holy shit, zig-zag! Go down! Go up, go up, go up!"
"WILL YOU FUCKING HOLD STILL!?" Machoke screamed at them as he readied a 'Focus Blast' that was twice the size of a normal one. Rey glanced towards Machoke and saw that he was breathing pretty heavy himself. He realized that all of the damage that Machoke had been taking, along with his excessive use of attacks, were really taking their toll on him.
'If we can just get one more powerful attack off…' He stopped thinking and looked down to Riolu in his arms. "Riolu, I think we're close to taking him down. We just need to take him down in a final attack."
Riolu didn't take his eyes off of Machoke, feeling pretty intimidated from the size of that 'Focus Blast'. "I'm open to ideas!"
Rey stopped at a pretty high spot on the mountain and looked back to Machoke, watching him closely. "We need to time this right. We'll have to dodge this blast. He'll be vulnerable right after, then we'll both hit him hard at the same time."
"And…you think that'll do him in?" Riolu asked.
"Hopefully. I mean we can't just keep nicking at this guy. We need to hit him really hard and do some real damage."
Riolu didn't even think about it as his looked became one of determination again. He nodded and got ready for whatever Rey had planned. Down on the ground, Machoke wondered what his two opponents were blathering on about since he couldn't hear them properly. They were speaking too low and were pretty high. He would've thrown his attack but he wasn't sure of his chances of nailing them when they were at that height. He tried to conceal his heavy breathing but he knew that it wasn't possible with the stacked damage that was dealt to him. Not to mention, he put a lot into those 'Focus Blasts' and this one would be the mother of those other blasts. But he didn't have to rethink a strategy on how to hit his target because Rey started to charge down the mountain at high speed. Riolu, maneuvered himself so that he was clinging to the human's back tightly but they both looked pretty determined to charge right at him. Machoke smirked at that half-assed plan and readied the 'Focus Blast' for fire but stopped when he saw Rey take an abrupt turn to the left, avoiding all of the craters that were made from the other attacks. Machoke didn't know what they were planning but didn't see it as much of a big deal, as he calculated on where the two would end up on their path. When he saw Rey about to run on the unbroken section on the mountain in the middle because two craters were on his right and left sides, he gave shout and fired the giant blue orb towards that spot.
Rey waited until the blast was close enough before he gave a shout and took a powerful leap into the air, while the 'Focus Blast, exploded beneath them. A big plume of smoke was created while rocks were blasted in all directions but thankfully none hit them. They shifted their eyes to Machoke and found that he placed his hands on his knees to try and catch their breath.
"DO IT NOW!" Riolu screamed while Rey nodded. He back flipped in his position in the air while spinning around twice as he fell back to the stone wall. His grabbed Riolu's left arm with his right hand, as the two gripped the other's wrists tightly, while Riolu removed himself from Rey's back. Rey crouched his legs as his right foot glowed a deep blue. Riolu's left foot caught on fire before Rey pushed off the wall with all of his might, leaving cracks in the stone. Rey swung his right arm in front of him, allowing Riolu to go ahead of him because of his shorter stature. Rey would compensate with his extended leg reach. They both adjusted their bodies quickly so that their lower half's were falling to Machoke first, with Rey turning to his left and lifting his right left, with Riolu turning right with his left leg raised.
"Mega…"
"Blaze…"
Machoke rose his head once he heard the starting declaration of attacks but it was too late to do anything. A flaming foot slammed into his face while a super powerful foot rammed into the center of his chest.
"KICK!"
The twin-strike was mighty. More powerful than the two partners expected it to be. There was a pretty big shockwave of air and the sound of a loud boom that accompanied it. Machoke flew towards a group or trees with the air visibly displacing along his flight path to show just how fast he was moving. He crashed into tree, after tree, after tree, not seeming like he was going to stop flying back. Rey and Riolu somersaulted once and landed in crouched on the ground, surprised by the amount of power that was behind that combination move. They could only sit there and watch as Machoke broke through a total of 6 trees before the sound of them breaking stopped. After that was the sound of them falling over and causing a loud ruckus, which had the earth slightly shake from each fallen one. The two breathed deeply themselves as they stared at that destroyed path for what felt like an hour before they moved to sit down on the gravel.
"Did…did we…win?" Riolu asked Rey, his breathing breaking up his sentence.
"I…I think so. I mean…did…did you see what we did!? No way…he can recover from…from that. Tag-teamed…the hell out…out of him." Rey said, him having the same problem when speaking. Riolu let Rey's words sink in before he began to laugh a little. It was sort of tough to get out because of his exhaustion but he managed it pretty well. Rey just rose an eyebrow and looked to the Shiny Pokémon in confusion, wondering what was so funny. "How come you're laughing?"
Riolu stopped before he smiled up at him. "It's just…I don't know. I mean I've seen and been through…a bunch of crap for as long…as I can remember. Not many Pokémon would help me just because I wasn't…normal. But you just…you came out of literally nowhere…and did something that probably not even an Aggron would've done. I've seen different kinds of humans too. Humans…who treat Pokémon like…pets. Bad humans who treat us, well, badly. Then there's Trainers who…help Pokémon grow stronger," he leaned back with a bigger smile," but you? You actually battled alongside a Pokémon! While having superpowers! If you asked me…you were a mix of a Trainer and a Pokémon today!"
Rey blushed at the praise but realized that what Riolu was saying was true. He honestly did do both at the same time when they battled Machoke. He commanded Riolu to perform incredible tactics and attacks like a Trainer would, while also jumping into the fight and taking on Machoke like a Pokémon too. The perfect mix between human and Pokémon, like how his heritage depicts him as. He felt his breath catching back up while he grinned down to Riolu. "Yeah…I guess I am pretty awesome, huh? But you're epic too. I mean you've got a pretty wide variety of moves. 6 of them right off the bat is something I've never seen before. For one, that's an extra move than that Machoke's 5 moves and I've usually only ever seen Pokémon use 4 moves at the most.
Riolu tilted his head in slight confusion. "Only 4? That's lame. I worked to learn as many as I could. I had to since I was usually a target…but enough about that crap. I need to know something," his looked became more serious, "are you a Trainer?"
Rey's eyes shot open in surprise, not expecting that question. "Why would you want to know that?"
Riolu got to his paws and knees, facing Rey with a pleading look. "Are you KIDDING me!? Haven't you heard me just complimenting you!? You…you're just…you're just so awesome! I mean you can use Aura for one! That alone is special because you can help me train me to use mine better! And once again, you can fight Pokémon and you can use Pokémon moves! So we can train together and in case we're in a tough fight then you can back me up! But most of all, you HELPED ME! A…a freak of a Riolu! No one would ever want to help me because of how different I look!" He sighed and glanced down. "Pokémon like me…aren't considered good to have around in a lot of places in the wild. Most of the time, we're considered bad luck among other things. So I never really had a home or any friends. But if I'm able to go with you then…" he gritted his fangs and gave Rey another determined look, "then I can just feel that I'll be able to reach my true potential! You said yourself that we make a great team, right!?"
Rey was at a loss for words. It was always a dream of his to be partnered with a Pokémon, mainly one of his favorites. And now, one of those favorites were literally begging to go along with him just because he noticed Rey's amazing strength and wanted power like that. Rey wasn't sure if Riolu knew just how strong he really was. Rey himself didn't particularly feel all that powerful, especially not after all of the beatings he was taking from Machoke. The only reasons he got in any attacks at all was because they were when Machoke's guard was down or Riolu created an opening for him. Beyond that, he wasn't able to really overpower the guy but, hey, a win is a win, right? But then there was the issue with bringing Riolu with him. It's most definitely not that he didn't want to because it was the exact opposite. He was incredibly elated to take him on as his Pokémon! He even had a matching Pokéball that was perfect for this Shiny Riolu! His thoughts kept going back to him having to go back to his Earth, Earth Prime if he still wanted to get technical on the universe, and having to hide Riolu away from society all the time. Only able to come out in when they were properly secluded like when no one, besides Jynx, was in the house. Or when they went to the woods near his home. He saw the anxiety was building up in Riolu's eyes the longer he took to think about his answer. The more he thought, the more the depression would hit the smaller Pokémon if he said no, not to mention the mini sob-story Riolu gave just wasn't helping his rational thinking in the slightest.
'Maybe…if I'm just extra careful. Yeah, he can just stay in the Premier Ball when he can't come out in public. Then he can be let out when it's safe.' The more Rey told himself these reasons, the more he wanted to believe he could go through in carrying them out flawlessly. He knew he was only thinking this way just to get him to say 'yes' instead of 'no' but any true Pokémon fan would still agree, regardless of the possible risks of being caught with a seemingly 'fictional' creature. Having made up his mind, he looked to Riolu and grinned, which had the white and black Pokémon widen his eyes a bit more.
"Alright! Sure! You can be my very first Pokémon!"
Riolu gasped with a big smile and hopped to his feet in elation. "You mean it!? Really!?"
Rey nodded before scratching the back of his head. "Sure. Why not? I mean…I'm honestly not really a Trainer, just so you know. But…I always did want to have my very own Pokémon partner. If that isn't enough, I really think your species is super cool. I also think you're cool too and very strong," Rey nodded once, "so yeah." Riolu gave a shout of excitement, throwing his arms into the air before he jumped to hug Rey tightly. He was a little shaken from the physical contact Riolu was giving him but it quickly wore off before he wrapped a single arm around him to return it. He just had no idea when these surprises were going to stop. He only expected to comes to this world to train and maybe interact with Pokémon. But becoming an unofficial Trainer was definitely not on his to-do list. Rey wasn't going to complain though since this was just another defining moment in his new crazy life. Only one more thing to do now.
Rey broke out of the hug and unzipped his jacket pocket, before bringing out the miniaturized Premier Ball. He held it up to Riolu's face so that he could see it for himself, which he stared at in wonder. "Alright then Riolu. If we're going to do this then we're going to have to make it official." He taped the button at the center which made the ball expand in his hand to its baseball size. Riolu lightly jerked his head back from the sudden expansion but wasn't too spooked.
"That's one of those Pokéball things? I've never seen one that color before though."
Rey light smirked. "Wasn't expecting it to be the same color as you?"
Riolu just gave a light glare. "Hey, my fur color isn't a joke."
"Alright, alright, I'll chill. But for real, this is called a Premier Ball. Nothing special about it besides it being white. I think this is gonna suit you perfectly though. So when you're ready, touch the button in the middle." When Rey finished explaining what Riolu had to do, the Pokémon didn't hesitate. His paw pressed the button in the middle which activated the catching process. The ball snapped open as Riolu was converted into red energy, which was sucked into the sphere as it closed. It barely shook in Rey's hand as it gave a *PING* with sparks flying from it that vanished. He stared at the ball for a moment as a smile slowly broke out on his face. He stood up to his full height as he tossed the Premier Ball up a couple of times.
"I caught…a Shiny Riolu. Whoa." He pressed the button and let out Riolu from the ball, who shook his head a bit from the experience.
"That was weird."
"Was it too cramped or something?" Rey asked, genuinely curious.
Riolu shook his head. "No. Just…weird, like I said."
Rey just accepted the answer before he minimized the ball and placed it back into his pocket. He smiled down to Riolu and crossed his arms. "Alright then. Besides being inside a Pokéball, since you're officially my Pokémon now, I think it's appropriate to give you a name."
Riolu an eyebrow and gave Rey a strange look to show he didn't follow. "A name? You want…to name me? How come?"
Rey shrugged. "It's just a thing with me. I always felt that names had a sense of individuality and a lot of people in the world don't name the Pokémon in their possession. I feel that you guys all deserve to have your own identity instead of just being known by your species. So I swore to myself that if I ever had my own Pokémon then they would have their own names. Does that sound alright with you?" Riolu honestly wasn't entirely sure at first but he definitely did like the way Rey worded his reason. So a name was a source of identity to him and he felt that it was important for Pokémon to have that same sense of it humans had. So Riolu nodded to let Rey know his answer. Rey did the same and asked, "Cool! And I think I have the perfect one. How does Kai sound?"
Riolu placed a paw to his chin and thought it over. "Kai? Kai…hmmm," he said, testing the name out to see how well it rolled off of the tongue. He said it one more time before he made up his mind and gave a big smile. "Kai sounds pretty cool! I like it!"
Rey clenched his hand into a fist while raising it up, and grinned himself, glad that Riolu took a liking to it. It was honestly the only thing he wanted to name the male Riolu or Lucario that he caught in his games because he felt the name would fit with that evolutionary line. However, this was no game. It was real and he was beyond ecstatic to have this happening before his very eyes.
"Then from this point on that's your name! Kai Takashi! My new #1 teammate!" Rey exclaimed, even giving the newly named Kai his last name. Kai caught that as well, feeling even more happy that Rey thought that highly of his new identity to even give him his last name too. Though their increasing bonding moment was abruptly cut off from the very last thing they expected. Their sensitive hearing allowed them to take in the sudden sound of a fallen tree being broken a fair distance from the trail of destruction that Machoke had left behind, from the combined might of their gravity and speed-enhanced kicks. The sound of another tree breaking echoed through the field, this time a bit closer.
"No way." Rey said in a low voice.
Another crack as the third tree was actually seen being knocked to the side.
"How the hell can he…?" Kai wondered with the same amount of disbelief.
Another loud crack, the sound being much closer. There was even the sound of a loud grunt of frustration that came with it. The turned their bodies fully to the path of the sounds as the finally two trees were broken down, and out stepped Machoke, more bruised and battered than before. He was actually bleeding from a few places, which were his head, lower lip, chest, and back, from blitzing through so many hard objects in his flight path. Even a decent number of big rocks got in his way. His face had a noticeable burn mark, the exact shape of a hind-paw burned into the center of his puffy face. His chest also had the indent of a foot too as he breathed deeply. His eyes narrowed to a sharp angle as he bore his teeth in utter frustration, gazing at nothing but them. Rey and Kai could unconsciously feel through Machoke's Aura that the amount of hate he harbored for them was unparalleled. The immense pain he was in didn't register to him. He ignored his exhaustion and used it to fuel his rage. He just didn't get it! How in the hell could a little runt and a human put him in this kind of position!? Do the kind of damage that they did!? He owned this side of these forests! No one was stronger than him and he proved it countless times! So…what exactly was different!?
Though that wasn't all. The three of them didn't expect for Machoke to instantly light up in a blaze of flames as he screamed from the burning pain. Rey and Kai knew exactly what had just happened.
"Holy shit! Kai, that 'Blaze Kick' dealt him a Burn!" Rey exclaimed, thinking that Burn would give them the final edge they needed to seriously put this guy down for good. Kai could only nod dumbly as he got ready to fight again. When the flames dropped, Machoke hunched over, his skin steaming and leaving some scorch marks in some places. Still, he fought through it. His bit his lower lip even more which had extra blood run down his chin to cope with it effect.
"You…the both of you…." He growled as his head turned up. He strolled forward at an even pace as his hateful expression just continued to grow on his bloody face. "I'll kill you both. This is…ridiculous. Ridiculous. GRAH! RIDICULOUS!" His red eyes began to glow a bit more as a strong red energy surged around his body. His already defined muscles bulged even more as he got ready to charge and attack. It was then that Rey understood what exactly was happening, which had him be on guard.
"HOLY SHIT! He has a Burn!"
"Yeah! So what!?" Kai exclaimed, getting on guard for Machoke's crazed attack.
"One of Machoke's two Special Abilities is Guts! If he's burned, paralyzed, poisoned, or sleep then his attack power gets a crazy boost! Don't let him hit you!"
"WHAT!?" Kai shouted as Machoke pushed off the ground and shot towards them, a crazed look in his eyes. He breathed outwardly and loudly with the strong pounding of his feet against the ground left indents of them in the mix of soil and granite. Kai stumbled back a bit from the intimidating presence. "WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THIS GUY!?" He yelled while the two of them moved in different directions so that Machoke wouldn't be able to reach them both. Machoke didn't even care who he went after and turned his sights to Rey again, intent on chasing him down. Rey wouldn't dare look back as he hauled as much ass as he could; his weakened legs and tired body not allowing him to reach his top speed. Machoke leapt in the air and came down with a stronger-than-average looking 'Rock Smash'. Rey managed to jump out of the way in time so the crazed Pokémon would connect with the ground, making a bit crater.
"Holy fuck." Rey whispered as he looked at the damage done before Machoke set his sights back on him, intent on using this moment of shock to his advantage. He surged forward and caught Rey off guard as he was about to crush him with 'Rock Smash'.
"Vacuum Wave!" It was Kai to the rescue who managed to use his only long-ranged attack to knock Machoke away with a blast of arched wind. But Machoke kept his balance and dug his feet into the ground, not going to let himself fall over. Kai was breathing more himself as he started to reach his limit in expending energy.
Rey looked to him in thanks but also worry, seeing the white and black Riolu was also at his limit. "Kai! You…!" He didn't even know what to say. He couldn't tell Kai to stay back and conserve power, especially since it took the two of them to fight Machoke evenly. Even without his Special Ability, he was a total monster. There was no way they would stand a chance against this energy boost if either fought him alone. Kai looked to Rey and the two seemed to be sharing the same thought. They knew that they had to hit him hard together, like before. One of them alone just wouldn't do.
'If we're lucky, then maybe we can come out of this alive." Kai thought to himself. He just became the partner Pokémon to someone unbelievably unique and he had every intention of learning every trick Rey had to teach. He had to prove to the world that he was strong someday! Until that happened then he wasn't going to die! He couldn't!
"Damn brat," Machoke growled, "damn, fucking, piece of shit! You're such a damn pain in my ass! I just decided that I'll take you down first!" He then did something that neither expected. He took a deep breath and leaned his upper body back a little. Wait, did he have another move in reserve that he wasn't using? That thought scared them a lot, especially since they didn't know what to expect. Whatever they thought it was, they didn't anticipate a powerful stream of flames to fly from him mouth!
"Flamethrower!" Machoke declared as the fire burned right through any grass and melted small stones. Kai could only stare in horror as the wave of fire rushed at him quickly. He felt the heat flow through his fur the closer it got while the crackling of flames filled his ears. He was paralyzed by a strange mix of fear and wonder as he awaited to be swallowed whole by the raging fire. There was an explosion of smoke and flames that erupted from the area Kai was in while Machoke exhaled a small stream of smoke at his move ending. He huffed and waited until the smoke cloud cleared away so that he could watch his handiwork. Imagine his expression as he found Rey standing in front of Kai, which his eye twitching uncontrollably. His mouth hanging open and threatening to let of a scream of pain while his arms were crossed in front of him. The majority of his sleeves on his jacket were burned to cinders while he gloves didn't look all that better. They revealed the smoking and slightly charred skin underneath.
Kai blinked in shock which caught up with him. He fell to his butt and stared at the demigod's back, not believing that he had the strength to move that fast and shield him from that attack. 'I didn't even see him move!' He thought before he spoke. "R…R-Rey. How…you just…you saved me…again. Are…are you alright?"
Rey bit back a seething hiss from the effects of the Fire-type attack and nodded, glaring at Machoke. "I…I used my Aura…to enhance my arms. But…it still hurts like…a bitch."
Machoke gave a savage grin as he looked to Rey's arms. "So you protected the runt…but you took the damage instead. You're practically giving me this win!" His hands lit up in a red glow with the use of his signature attack again. Rey dropped his aching arms to his sides and tried to clench his hands into fists. He winced when he did, feeling as if dozens of needles drove into his palms before he opened his palms back up.
"Not yet. Gotta hold out just for a bit more." He said to his body as he got ready to charge in, a bunch of different strategies going through his head. Kai got back up to his feet, having shook off his surprise and stood next to Rey.
"This is crazy. What the hell are we gonna do to take this guy down?" He asked.
"Don't worry, I'm thinking."
"Anything good?"
"I…" Rey honestly couldn't come up with any sort of plan to end this that didn't include getting in close. 'Aura Sphere' at full power drained a lot more energy than using either the likes of 'Mega Kick' or 'Mach Punch'. Kai's 'Vacuum Wave' had too long of a charge time and could be dodged pretty easily if given the time. Not to mention, staying at a distance wasn't even a wise choice anyway even if they did have the strength to use a continuous burst of their ranged moves. That 'Flamethrower' was a large problem with it having a wider range and higher speed than 'Focus Blast'. Plus, Machoke can steer it if he just turns his head to where he's spitting that thing. No, the only way to win is with a physical attack. But of course, Machoke's enhanced power from being burned was a bad thing and neither Rey or Kai had all that much strength anymore and were too injured to fight for long. "We need to end this with a combo."
"Combo?" Kai questioned. He saw Rey's eyes suddenly light up as if he had an idea. Hopefully, that was the case. "You got an idea?"
Rey glanced down to him for a bit before he took a few steps forward. "Kinda. It's…something that I've only seen been done before. I haven't done it myself but at the moment, it's the only thing I can honestly think of that I'm probably capable of pulling off to win."
"Wait a sec, why are you making it sound like you're going through with whatever it is by yourself?" Kai asked.
Rey didn't hesitate to answer. "Because I am."
"What!? No way! We both know we can't beat him by ourselves! We need to do this combo you're talking about together! Just tell me what to do and I'll do it!"
Machoke was tired of waiting as he charged right towards them, intent on punching the two of them into nothing but paste. Rey bent down a bent and got ready to face him. "I don't got time to tell you what to do! Just stay there and trust me on this!" Before Kai could protest Rey took off to Machoke, who grinned madly at the boy's eagerness.
"So you want to be the first to take a dirt-nap!? Then be my fucking guest!" He rose his right fist to get ready to punch as they got closer while Rey closed his eyes and activated his 'Aura Perception' so that he would be more capable of dodging Machoke's blows. They two were close now, close enough for Machoke to throw a punch, which Rey ducked as he saw it coming from how Machoke's Aura was telegraphing his moves a little before he made them. He didn't know how that worked but he wasn't going to question that at the moment. Rey began to rapidly move backwards while Machoke ran after him, the former dodging while the latter kept punching. "I'll teach you to fuck with the likes of me! Big mistake! And your last!"
Kai was watching helplessly as he saw Rey narrowly dodge each of Machoke's 'Rock Smashes'. His heart picked up faster and faster as he couldn't handle the pressure of this crazy plan that Rey was talking about before. 'Where the hell is this combo!? Is he trying to set up some kind of trap I don't see!? Dammit!' He closed his eyes tightly when a missed punched destroyed the part of ground Rey was on. 'I don't WANT to just sit here and let him go through with this! I WANT TO HELP HIM!'
Unknown to both Rey and Kai, Kai had linked his Aura with Rey's thanks to the human's use of 'Aura Perception'. The usual black mass of nothing Kai saw, or couldn't see, when his eyes were closed was replaced with a different scene entirely. He gasped when he found himself in a new location entirely, standing inside some form of building instead of being outside. The room was incredibly massive too. He stood on a stone floor instead of soft grass, while the craziest sight he noticed was a massive statue. At least he thought it was a statue, but what made it weird was that it was a statue of two hands joined together and creating some sort of sign. Finally, his body was completely transparent as if his spirit was dragged away to somewhere else entirely.
"What the hell? Where…where the hell am I!?"
"Grr! Hey, Sasuke!" Kai was shocked to hear the sound of someone yelling out of nowhere which made him turn around. He was met with the sight of…of people! A bunch of humans! There were two balconies with some standing on both as they looked down to the ground where three other humans were. A bruised up looking kid, some adult with a mask, glasses, and bandanna, and another adult was just right in front of him, looking between the two. Kai guessed that these guys were fighting. He had no idea that he was lucky to get a front row seat at the preliminary rounds of the Chunin Exams from the universe of 'Naruto'. "Come on, man! What was that!? And you call yourself an Uchiha!?" Sasuke turned to Naruto after he called out to him. "You're gonna let this goon walk all over you! C'mon! Stop messing around and get it in gear!"
Kai was still very confused at what was going on. He just wanted to know why he was in this weird scenario and who these other people were. He walked next to the guy who was overseeing the match apparently, but Kai found it strange that these humans were fighting. It probably couldn't have been all that entertaining anyway since there was no sign of Pokémon around. The man who was Sasuke's opponent, Yoroi, took a single step forward and grabbed his right wrist. His hand glowed with blue energy which made Kai's eyes widen at seeing this human use some sort of special power.
"What!? Can this human use Aura too!?"
It was actually the energy known as Chakra but that was beside the point. Sasuke was still looking to up where Naruto shouted at him as Yoroi ran towards him with his defense down. "I'll teach you to turn your back on me!" Sasuke got back into the fight and turned to face him. "Big mistake! And your last!"
Kai had the sense of immediate déjà vu as he saw the image of Machoke running full tilt towards Rey, who was an image from where Sasuke stood. When Yoroi got close enough he began eager to grab at Sasuke with his glowing hand but the Uchiha kept dodging and moving out of the way, again, like how Kai saw Rey dodging Machoke. It was here he found that there were too many similarities between was he is seeing and what he saw before. "Wait a second…is Rey somehow copying this fight?" If he was then Kai figured that he had to keep watching this interesting battle. If the reason he was here was to learn something to help his Trainer, then he would gain as much combat knowledge as he could so Rey wouldn't have to face Machoke alone. He just hoped that when this crazy spirit-journey was over than he would be back home and with Rey still in one piece. Sasuke dodged Yoroi a few more times before he smirked and dashed forward in a blur of speed, moving so fast that he practically vanished.
"Huh!? Where'd he go!?" Yoroi wondered aloud. Kai felt the same way. It was as if this Sasuke had just used 'Agility' and blurred away. Kai's eyes moved to the kid wearing all green, Rock Lee, who stood next to Naruto. He gasped as he saw something interesting so Kai looked back to Yoroi and gasped as well. Sasuke reappeared from his quick moment of displacement right under his opponent. He slammed his right hand against the ground and sent a powerful rising left kick to Yoroi's chin. The force from the attack was enough to send him very high into the air as flying back at the same time. Sasuke flipped over on all fours before jumping after him. All of the other shinobi, plus one Pokémon, were shocked at what they were seeing. Kai didn't know that other humans were capable of such physical ability other than his Trainer.
Sasuke flew under Yoroi, facing his back. "Okay, I admit it. I kinda borrowed that move but from here-on-in," he placed two fingers to Yoroi's back, "It's all original."
"Huh!? The Dancing Leaf Shadow!?" Yoroi exclaimed.
"Dancing Leaf Shadow?" Kai mused to himself. Interesting name for an interesting looking form. He's never seen anything like it. He was just eager to see where this was headed.
"Now take this!" Sasuke declared before he gave a shout of pain. Kai saw that some sort of strange markings beginning to crawl along his body, from his neck up and wondered just what the hell was going on to him. Even if he wasn't able to feel the Aura of any of these people he could tell that most definitely wasn't normal. After a minute though the markings began to recede until they were gone completely which had Sasuke give a near unnoticeable sigh of relief as he smirked. "Here we go." He twisted his body to the right and placed his left hand against Yoroi's back. He forcefully flipped Yoroi's body to twist to the left while Sasuke threw up his left leg to kick his side, but Yoroi was quick to block with his left arm.
"Heh! You're no match for me!" Yoroi gloated but Sasuke wasn't even half-way done with his attack. He twisted his body and spun around once to Yoroi's right. Yoroi wasn't in the position to properly adjust himself to see what Sasuke was doing but it was too late for that anyway. Sasuke was at the right side of his body before throwing out his left arm and gave a strong back-hand to his face, which had him yell in pain. Yoroi was knocked downward while Sasuke fell towards him while bringing back his right arm.
"Come back here!" He slammed his arm into Yoroi's neck and forced him to fall faster while Sasuke flipped over once, extending his left leg. "I'm not done yet!" The exact moment Yoroi slammed into the cold, unforgiving, ground, Sasuke slammed his left heel to the older ninja's abdomen with a nasty sounding impact. "Lion's Barrage!"The force from the kick caused the ground under Yoroi to crack. The upper half of Yoroi's body jerk upwards while blood was seen dripping from the sides of his mask. Sasuke was thrown off from the force of the strike, tumbling backwards and lying on his front. Everyone was silent as the two laid immobile on the ground. The proctor of the fight walked over to Yoroi, kneeling down and checking his status. He found out that the man was completely unconscious.
"Well this one's had it." Sasuke breathed deeply as he managed to get to his knees. He was exhausted but there was a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. The proctor stood and gestured an arm to Sasuke. "I'm declaring this match over. As the winner to this preliminary round, Sasuke Uchiha advances to the finals."
"WAY TO GO!" Naruto shouted down while Kai was the same.
"WOHOO! AWESOME! I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE! THAT SASUKE GUY IS AMAZING!" Apparently, this was the limit for Kai's temporary visit in this strange place with powerful humans. He noticed that his transparent body began to lightly blow before slowly fading away. "What the hell!? What's happening!?" A second later, he was gone. His eyes jolted open as he regained his senses and found himself back in the area he was before. In the same position as before and…Rey was still dodging Machoke's punches but was slowly losing speed noticeably. Kai placed a paw to his head. 'What…what was…all of that? What did I see and why?' He was just surprised that Rey and Machoke were still going at this little dance of theirs Kai had to have been in that weird area for at least over 5 minutes or a bit more, yet nothing seemed to have changed here.
He saw Rey jump a further distance away before he smirked and dashed towards Machoke forcing a 'Quick Attack', making sure to go low. Machoke wasn't ready for that burst of speed not preparing for what Rey had in store. But Kai saw it and what he saw blew him away. Rey stopped right under Machoke's guard and slammed his left hand against the ground before sending a devastating 'Mega Kick' upwards, nailing his chin. Machoke yelled in pain as he was sent flying high into the air and sailing back. Rey jumped after him.
'IT'S THE SAME!' Kai thought, standing up to his full height and watching with a much higher amount of interest. Rey flew under Machoke's body, parallel to him with a look on concentration on his face. 'The Dancing Leaf Shadow!'
Machoke was surprised as well, not expecting a tactic like that. He turned his head slightly to see Rey behind him. "What is this!?"
"Just a move I'm gonna be borrowing from someone," Rey said as he placed the twin fingers on his left hand at the center of Machoke's back, "sorry I don't have anything original. But it's always the iconic techniques that are the best to use. Now here we go!" Rey swapped his fingers for his full palm, digging his fingers into Machoke's back. He reared back his left leg with his foot glowing a deep blue. "Try this!" He forcefully flipped Machoke's body more to the left so that side of him would be more vulnerable but Machoke was quick to block the 'Mega Kick' with his forearm.
"Ha! Is that really all you got!? Like I said, you're no match for me!" Machoke gloated while Rey growled lowly in agitation.
"Not unless I finish this move!" But that was easier said than done. The two of them had begun to reach their peak altitude and significantly dropped in speed compared to when Rey kicked Machoke into the air, which Rey realized when he noticed that the two of them began to drop and he couldn't properly maneuver his body to deal the back-hand to this guy. 'I'm…losing altitude? Not now!'
Kai gasped when he saw the two of them beginning to fall. He saw that Rey was struggling to keep up the combo but he just didn't have the momentum to properly carry himself. "He can't finish it this way." He whispered to himself. Kai realized that if there was any way for this to work then he had to help! And thanks to battling with Rey, he's gained a bit of experience on how to do that. Mustering the final bits of his strength for these last attacks, he surged forward with 'Quick Attack' becoming nothing but a streak of white and he zoomed across the ground to the area right under the airborne fighters. He stopped and then jumped with 'Quick Attack' enhancing the amount of speed he traveled while allowing him to gain more air than possible. His target was Rey's right arm which he grabbed, spooking Rey with his sudden appearance but not acknowledging his surprise. Kai used the momentum he gained to swing Rey around so that he would be above Machoke when he made a round trip. Luckily the young demigod caught onto this quickly and balled up his left fist tight, which he slammed into Machoke's neck in a devastating backhand.
Machoke began to fall straight down, while Kai let go of Rey's arm. The two began to drop with Kai and towards Machoke's right and Rey falling at his left. The two shared a quick glance and a single nod. They glowed white for the last time and zoomed down with one of their arms each extended. Rey clothes-lined him while Kai punched right into his abdomen.
"COME BACK HERE!" Rey shouted. His right foot glowed a brilliant blue, brighter than before with 'Mega Kick' being enhanced with Aura. Kai's left foot was lit ablaze with the flames having grown to twice the size they normally were.
"WE'RE NOT DONE YET!" Kai shouted as the both of them flipped forward three times with their attacking legs extended. This was going to be the final blow and they would put everything they had into this combo. Their combined attack topped anything Sasuke could've done. While Rey's foot slammed into Machoke's face, Kai went for the abdomen which was set on fire from the attack. The use of enhanced speed and gravity forced the ground under to give way to a sleuth of spider cracks. The cracks turned into upturned chucks, then the chunks turned into a deep crater with Trainer and Pokémon screaming the name of their final move with all of their might.
"LION'S BARRAGE!"
The force and their speed from the attack sent them tumbling off to the side. They landed right beside one another on their backs and breathing heavily. That was it. The two of them literally didn't have anything left anymore. Their bodies ached and their hearts screamed at them to stop moving around so it could eventually properly pace itself. Speaking was also lost to them as they gathered and exhaled air to rapidly for them to form proper words, let alone sentences. Rey especially wanted to speak to Kai on how he could've known how to execute the 'Lion's Barrage' since it didn't exist in this universe. But that would have to wait for a later time because he just wanted everything to stop aching. The two opened their eyes before looking to each other with smiles on their faces. Kai felt the same as Rey did. Like total shit but he felt more accomplished then he ever did before. Soon both of their eyes began to drop as they lost consciousness.
Unknown to them, they had a spectator the entire time that watched everything that transpired here. Mira flew out from the bushes that she hid behind and went to go check on the sleeping forms of Rey and Kai. Both terribly battered and bruised while Rey seemed to have needed a change in wardrobe with how dirtied and ruined his clothes were. They two had dirt, grime, and dried blood from their injuries yet had feelings of content, even as they were out cold. She gave a sympathetic smile as them. "You two sure took a beating, huh? Guess that Machoke was really strong. Definitely a lot stronger than any Machoke I've ever seen." She flew over to the Machoke in question, lying in that crater, who looked a lot worse for wear. All of the blows he suffered were pretty visible, especially the burned imprint of a hind paw on his face and a foot imprint on his chest. He was burned, bruised, bleeding, swollen in the face and chest while his breathing was haggard. Mira thought back to that last technique the two used to take him down. She had never seen such a combo like that before and it amazed her to be honest.
"…Though…if I was a Trainer, I'd try to teach my Pokémon as many things as I could besides how to use more moves. Could be useful as hell and no one knows about that kind of thing yet." She thought back to what Rey told her earlier and had to agree. She definitely did not see something like that before and she had to admit, she definitely liked that uniqueness of the combo! She rose up a bit more into the air to get a proper look at the battlefield that looked like it was pelted with meteorites. There was a vast number of craters around of varying shapes and sizes. Even in the part of the mountain that Rey and Kai had used to evade those 'Focus Blasts'. Then the one where Rey punched Machoke into. Many rocks and boulders were destroyed. A large, wide, trail of burnt grass, a path of destroyed trees leading into the forest, etc. Mira was completely blown away with how much destruction the three of them had caused.
A boy who barely scratched the surface of his abilities.
A very special Shiny Riolu with a decent set of moves.
A Machoke that was about 2 times as strong as the norm.
"Mercy on anyone who has to face either of these three when they actually get stronger." She said to herself before flying back over to Rey and Kai. She looked to Rey first and smiled before looking to Kai. They might not know it yet but the two of them just demonstrated just how interlocked their Aura's are. A bond like this isn't created easily and not just with anyone either. Not to mention, she found it funny that Rey became a Trainer by accident to the one Pokémon they mentioned lately. And a Shiny on top of it. "I better get the two of you some proper help." Mira's eyes glowed with psychic energy before her, Rey, and Kai vanished in a pink flash of light.
If there was one thing Mira had to admit, it was that she was glad she didn't go through with her earlier plan or turning into something like a Tyranitar and forcing Rey to fight her. She doubted she could've had him produce the same results that Machoke had him accomplish.
Rey's (Stephan's) POV
Ugh…fuck, my head was killing me. There was a sharp throbbing in it and nothing but darkness in my vision. That throbbing feeling slowly stopped to a more soothing one for some reason but I wasn't going to question why. However, I did notice that I apparently wasn't lying on a mix of grass and rock but a fluffy mattress. I didn't have to have my eyes open to know that much. But where? How? I was fighting Machoke…and Kai passed out beside me and-
'Kai!' I mentally exclaimed while sitting up, pushing the covers off of my upper body. I looked around to see that I was in a pretty dim looking bedroom that didn't have much in here. The windows were a pretty large size but the curtains covered it entirely so no light could get through. There was a nightstand next to the bed, a small closet, and a desk across the bed too, but not much else. Well, not if you count the closed door at least. I looked down to see that I wasn't wearing anything on my upper body except bandages and my jeweled necklace, with its continuous slowly shifting teal light, with a hint of grey. Though the light was pretty dim now. I also had bandages on my arms and hands as well. Weird. Did somebody find me and patch me up? And again, where the fuck is Kai!?
Just then I was interrupted by a snore beside me, which had me lightly jump. I turned to the left and looked down to find…what I saw made me smile broadly. It was Kai. He was lying in bed with me, though he didn't seem to be injured anymore. Least he didn't look it from what I could tell. He was in a deep sleep as he curled himself into the soft blankets. He mumbled something incoherent but smiled afterwards, his Aura coming off of him in gentle, soothing, waves. Huh. I wonder how I can sense his Aura even though I'm not using 'Aura Perception'. Guess I must be getting better with the skill than I thought.
I heard the faint sound of footsteps from outside the door and turned to it, waiting a few seconds before it opened. When it did, I was surprised to see that it was…a Nurse Joy!? And one of the more retro ones too that was seen in Kanto through Sinnoh. Unova and Kalos got newer, and in my opinion, better looking versions. But since this world is real, it would make more sense to say that the Nurse Joys and Officer Jennies of the latter two regions must be distant relatives of the ones in the first four regions. Back on track, I'm looking at a Nurse Joy! Not as cool as everything else that I've done up to this point but it will still become a very memorable thing.
She gasped when she saw that I was awake. "Oh! You're finally up! That's good to see!" She walked closer which made me see that she actually had a box of first-aid in her hands. She turned on a lamp that lit up the room more and placed the box down on the night-stand beside me. Kai grumbled at the light and threw the blankets over his head to try and block it out which made me chuckle a tad but went back to focusing on her.
"I…I'm…how did I get here? Am…I in a Pokémon Center?" I asked still very confused.
"Yes, you are. Hearthome City's Pokémon Center to be exact," she said before pulling up a chair to sit in beside the bed. She opened the box and got some kind of healing remedy in a bottle, "a girl came over with her carrying you and your Riolu, saying that the two of you got into a conflict with a pretty powerful Machoke. I couldn't believe just how injured the two of you were. Your Riolu, I can understand but you?" I grunted and rubbed my face which still felt numb. Nurse Joy opened the cap to the bottle and dabbed a swab in there. Dammit, I really wish that I could read the language of this universe because I didn't even know what that was, and that irritated me. Alcohol? "Try and hold still." She leaned the swabbed forward and dabbed my face with it, leaving a stinging sensation. Yup. Alcohol. Though it stung, I didn't flinch. I don't believe that I had the right to flinch at something so meager anymore. I was hit with punches that could break sturdy rocks. Kicked so hard that any normal man's ribs would've broken entirely. Got blasted with a large torrent of flames that seared my arms and hands.
The fucked up thing about all of that though…is that it looks so awesome in anime or on T.V., or in video games. Seeing people or creatures taking or giving beatings of that kind of magnitude and it looks like they shake it off while continuing to fight. That one battle gave me reality in its finest.
Those people and/or creatures in anime, T.V., or video games? Yeah, those guys get hurt. Like really hurt. The only reason they get back up is because they can't afford to lose said battle, especially if something is on the line.
That mindset isn't awesome.
"Let's just say that Machoke didn't like it when I helped Kai. But we beat him in the end."
Nurse Joy slightly rose an eyebrow. "Kai?"
"Riolu. I named him Kai when I caught him. Speaking of which," I turned to look back at him sleeping, "how come he's sleeping here with me? And that girl you were talking about before…"
Nurse Joy went back to smiling and went to treating my other cheek with the Alcohol. "She said she was your big sister. Told me her name is Mira…and yours' is Rey, right?" I nodded. "Even though you both were injured, the Pokémon Center is a place where we mainly treat Pokémon, so it was quicker to take care of Kai's injuries. Mira told me that she would help you for a bit until I could get to you so I told her to put you here." She looked to the bandages on my chest and arms. "She's the one who did that, not me. Like I said, I was tending to your Pokémon. Anyway, once Kai was healed, Mira got him, saying that he would want to see your state himself. I didn't know that Kai decided to sleep with you though." She ended with a laugh which made me laugh too.
Kai gave a loud groan of irritation from the noise but I paid it no mind. In fact, I grabbed the blankest from over him and pulled them down then shook him. "Come on. Get up."
("Nooooooo. Don't make meeee.") he slurred, waving a paw at me to stop but I didn't.
"You might as well. I'm not sleeping anymore and Nurse Joy is here to check up on me. I, for one, don't like it when someone talks while I try to sleep." Kai gave a groan as he slowly picked his upper body from the blankets. He yawned and opened his eyes to stare at us groggily which made Nurse Joy giggle at how cute he had to have seemed. "See? Isn't that better?"
("No.")
"Well you'll be up in no time anyway. Besides, you're already healed. I'm the one who should be resting." Though I didn't feel as bad as I did before. I wonder if I have some sort of healing factor? Naw. If that was the case, then all Pokémon would have that. I'm sure it was Mira who did something to ease the pain. "Hey, Nurse Joy? You know where Mira is now?"
"Right here, of course." Said a familiar voice from the door. Mira, in her human disguise of course, walked over and sat on the bed with a bright smile on her face. "Nice to see you're finally up, Rey! How are you feeling?"
I shrug and smile at her being happy to see me okay. "Better. Still sore and everything but…better. Thanks for getting me and Kai here after that accident."
Her smile deflated to a smaller one as she nodded. "No problem. I was happy to help," she looks to Nurse Joy, "don't worry Nurse Joy. I'll be able to take care of him from here. Then we'll be on our way afterwards."
Nurse Joy gave me a critical eye as she looked over my bandages. Obviously, any sane person wouldn't let anyone who would have to wear this much protective wrapping out of any properly established healing facility. Even though Nurse Joy specialize in Pokémon medicine, I would imagine that they are still nurses and should have a certain degree of knowledge on human treatment. I just held up my hands and put on my best acting face. "Don't worry Nurse Joy, I'll be fine. What happened was nothing but a freak accident is all. If anything happens, my sister has a very strong Pokémon to help us out."
That Pokémon being herself, of course. I have a feeling Mira knew that with how prideful she was looking at the moment. Mira nodded to Nurse Joy too as to emphasize she could keep us safe with me in my "feeble" condition until she gave up and sighed. "Okay. If you promise that you'll be nothing but absolutely careful then I suppose you can be let out. But please don't try to overexert yourself Rey."
I gave a sly smirk and looked down to Kai who stretched his arms high above his head and yawned. "Me? Overexert myself? No way." Least I don't try too. Ever since Mira came into my life that's kinda been changing as the days go on.
Mira stood up and grabbed the med kit from the night stand. "I'll take care of anything else that's wrong with him. You go tend to any Trainers that'll come by. When we're done, I'll leave this here so you can pick it up later." Nurse Joy smiled again and nodded in agreement and got up. She wished me well before leaving to go do her job. Mira then closed the door to the room and sighed. She placed the med kit back on the table and sat in the chair Nurse Joy sat in.
Kai got his bearings enough to properly take in her presence before patting my arm. "Hey, who's the girl?"
"I'm Rey's big sister, Mira. And you're Kai! Rey's first-ever Pokémon that he caught!" She exclaimed while Kai seemed surprised that she answered him so directly. She looked to me in a confused manner while I just shrugged at him. Maybe it was better for him to grasp what I kinda dragged himself into here.
"I know what you're thinking and yeah. She understands what you're saying too, just like me."
"And why's that? I mean if she can do that then…does she have some kind of special powers too?" He asked, while Mira and I shared a glance. She nodded while I did so too, in understanding. Guess we'll have to come clean right now to the little guy.
"Alright, I'm gonna need you to follow me on this because it's all crazy. You know I can speak to Pokémon. You know that I can also use Aura and can use Pokémon moves. Mira here can so the same thing and there's a reason for that. See…I'm only half human." I said while Kai's eyes jumped open as if he was never tired in the first place.
"HALF human!? So then…what's the other half!?"
"Well…Pokémon. My mom is human and my dad is a Pokémon."
"Humans and Pokémon mate!?" He yelled in shock, jumping up to his feet on the bed. His height now allowed him to properly stare me in the eye. "Since when!?"
Mira shrugged and said, "It's actually a lot more common than you would think. People and Pokémon who do get together like that are just really good at hiding it. Probably one of the more unnatural things in this crazy world of ours."
Kai pointed a paw to her. "So you're just like Rey! Whoa!"
Mira laughed and shook her head negative. "Nope! Rey is definitely one-of-a-kind! But I'm not human at all actually. I'm a full Pokémon." While Kai was busy getting shocked and blown away over and over, I was sensing if anyone was close to this room with 'Aura Perception'. That or if they were in ear-shot because Mira is kinda not filtering her volume here on the things she's saying. Hopefully, she had the same Idea as me and is sensing for presences that would potentially come within ear-shot. Oh yeah, and to prove her point to Kai, she flashed pink before turning back into her natural form.
"M-M…Mew? Y-y-you're…y-you're Mew? MEW!?" Kai said shakily, which just had Mira giggling in her paws.
"You know, saying that multiple times isn't going to make it any less believable to you. Plus, call me Mira Takashi if you please." She said properly introducing herself to Kai as she floated over and extended a tiny paw. He gaped a bit at the gesture before smiling as shaking it in his larger one.
He looked to me and said, "This is crazy. You know Mew…and you call her your sister?"
I rose a finger. "On technicality, she's my sister. We're actually not really related at all but we sorta have the whole family dynamic going and I won't lie…I think it's pretty neat."
"And this Pokémon…who's your father? The father of both of you, I mean. Who…is…"
I give him a nervous look. "You, uh…ever hear about the Legendary Pokémon, Arceus?"
Kai blinked before his legs grew weak. He plopped on his behind and rubbed his head. "Holy crap…this is getting way too crazy too fast. So…let me see here. Rey…you're half human and half Pokémon. But your dad…is Arceus. And your sister is…Mira."
"Aaaaaand every Legendary that dad personally created himself too. So…veeeery big family."
Kai scratched all around his head as he couldn't handle the info dump. He fell to his back and groaned. "That is all so complicated. What the fuck did I get myself into?"
I nodded in total understanding of his situation. I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, believe me, I was living a totally different life than I am right now. I was just in the same boat as you and when I wake up every day, I still can't believe my life now. It'll hopefully mellow over time."
He groaned as his paws slid down his face before sitting up. He gave us both a serious stare and asked, "Anything else I should know about? Like is the moon going to fall or whatever?"
God, I'm a little scared to tell him anything else. I fear that if I did then his head would blow the hell up. But…he's taking this WAY better than I did! That's a definite! "Well…I live in a literal other universe. A different version of Earth with no Pokémon to speak of. People know about them but they kinda aren't real on that Earth…and that's where I was raised."
"That's also where you'll be spending a lot of time!" Mira chimed in.
Though before Kai could give his thoughts on how ridiculous that sounded, I did have my own questions too. So I asked first. "But besides that, how come you're sleeping here with me?"
Kai gave a light blush and turned his head to stare at nothing. "Uh…I…"
Mira laughed and floated near him, starting to playfully poke at one of his cheeks. "When he finished healing and I told him you haven't properly recovered yet, he nearly demanded to come see you. So I told Nurse Joy I would bring him in here so he can watch over you. I left after that myself but it seems instead of watching he did the next best thing~!" She exclaimed in a sing-song voice. Kai's blush got noticeably deeper as he took a paw to slowly push Mira away from him.
"Well maybe I was still tired after that fight! I mean I've never been a battle so tough before, okay!?" His embarrassment was more than noticeably and Mira looked like she was going to keep teasing him. Imagine my surprise when I saw that she actually backed off. Guess even the embodiment of playfulness knew when to cut it quits sometimes.
"Well if the two of you are done with the questions," she started, "I think that I should properly heal you Rey. You must be feeling pretty uncomfortable in those bandages. Heal Pulse." She directed her paws at me as waves of pink energy flowed over my form and rejuvenated me entirely. I gave a comforting sigh as the healing move did its thing before it stopped. I rose my arm above and brought it back down, testing my muscles. I got out of bed, thank fully still wearing my boxers at least and stretched in a variety of waves. Heh. That 'Heal Pulse' really did what it was supposed to do. No pain anywhere. Not even a single scratch. I ripped off the bandages completely as threw them to the ground before looking to Mira, who threw them in the trash by using 'Psychic'.
"Thanks for that. Best medicine ever."
She looked away and waved a paw. "Oh, that was no problem at all. 'Heal Pulse' does a lot more than people think, especially if an incredibly strong Pokémon uses it. It can even help heal broken bones a decent amount but it can't cure every aliment. Like recovering a lost limb or anything that serious."
Kai had a look of amazement in his eyes from the display. He looked to Mira and said, "But that's still a very useful move! I wish I could do that!"
"Well you actually can learn 'Heal Pulse' but only as a Lucario."
"Oh." Kai said slightly dejectedly before he crossed his arms. "Damn. It'd be a nice move to have if I need a pick-me-up in a tough fight."
"Boy, who you tellin'?" I said having the same thoughts. Sure, I've only seen that moves used on others but why couldn't you heal yourself with it? Definitely something I would do. "Mira, where exactly did you put my clothes." She gave me a look of slight disgust as if I had picked my nose right in front of her.
"You can't honestly be expecting to want to put those tattered things back on, right? I mean your jacket doesn't even have sleeves anymore." I just shrugged, not knowing how to respond. Besides, they were the only clothes I had. Mira just sighed while shaking her head. "Boys will be boys, I guess. No. I've got something even better while you were sleeping." She flew over to the closet, opening it up with 'Psychic' before using the move to levitate clothes onto the bed. My eyes widened a bit more when I saw what she had got me to wear. Another grey jogging suit like I always wear, except the pants had a thick black line that traveled down the opposite sides of each leg, while the black line wrapped around the waistband. The grey hoodie was sleeveless like my old one but had a small stylized Riolu 'mask' on the top right. Kai remarked how he liked that little design as I got to the leather jacket. All in all, it wasn't all that different from my other one except the pretty noticeable Pokéball that was etched onto it. It was entirely white and showed only the top, the button, and the bottom half. So no, none of the pieces were connected, which in my opinion would've made it look pretty out of place. The design made me think about my Premier Ball, which she also had placed on the bed, bringing it from the drawer in my nightstand. Finally, were the black gloves. There were actually…the same as my old ones! Well, mostly. The only change being that these had a small white Pokéball design on the back of them too.
I grabbed the jacket and looked at the Pokéball design, mystified by having such clothes. No, it wasn't anything super fancy or very different. I mean people back home could make something like this if they wanted but just knowing that these clothes came from this world and that my big sister, the Legendary Mew, had got them for me made them immediately better than my old ones.
"Mira…thank you." I began to put them on starting with the pants.
"Don't mention it Rey. We were happy to help."
"We?" Kai asked, beating me to the punch.
Mira smiled and said, "Well me and daddy, of course! He knew that you two got into a pretty nasty fight. He's actually been watching you ever since we got here Rey and he's impressed with your rapid progress. Anyway, he called me home after I brought you both here and gave me those, asking me to bring them to you. Even when he's not here he's still looking out for you, you know?"
"Whoa. So it was dad who made me these!? Old man already knows my preferred tastes." I exclaimed as I finally got on the jacket. I grabbed Kai's Premier Ball and placed it in my jacket pocket which also had a zipper.
Mira scoffed and said, "How can he not? You've made it openly obvious how much you like grey."
I just gave a dumb giggle as I started putting on my shoes. Least those having changed. I tied the shoe straps tightly and put on my gloves, finally feeling like myself. I stood up and rose my arms to the sides, letting the two see the outfit completely. Kai gave me a 'thumbs up' and said, "Looking good, man!"
"I agree. Much better than what you had on before." Mira said. I just sighed and rolled my eyes. Girls will always be girls too, apparently. Honestly, it's not like I was wearing entirely different clothes. I mean the new Pokémon-style designs were awesome and the black that it mixed into my pants were cool too but…you know, I'm just going to stop and be grateful here. Kai got off of the bed and walked towards me smiling still. I did the same and took out his Premier Ball, bringing it to full size.
"So you're fully on board with all of this?" I asked him.
He shrugged. "Well I kinda got no choice now, right? I mean I stand by what I said. You're the real deal, Rey. More-so than I thought before. You know…I have a dream I want to work towards," he placed a paw on his chest, "and that's to be the strongest Pokémon in the world. All I've ever been told was how small and weak I was. I didn't have anyone to help me get better or teach me things on how to survive. So I had to do everything myself just to get by. Sure, I like my results but after what happened against Machoke…now I know I need to keep getting stronger and stronger and stronger! I want to always improve myself so that I can be ready for anything that's thrown at me!"
I grinned a bit, inspired by his drive. "I like that, Kai. Cool goal. You know, I feel the same. I nowhere near to being as strong as I could be yet. I'm still new at all of this and I have a long way to go too. But I know that if we keep working at it then we'll definitely become the strongest team ever," I held his Premier Ball out to him, "so you ready to start this crazy adventure together?" He made a fist with his paw and tapped the top of the ball, nodding to me.
Again…dream…realized!
"Okay!" Mira exclaimed catching our attention. "This was such a productive day! We got a lot more accomplished then we intended too! A Pokémon to call your own plus learning some moves!? We're off to a great start here Rey! But I think it's time that you both headed on home. It's 4:12 PM and you don't want your human family to worry about you, right?"
I scratched the back of my head at how I nearly forgot about that. "Yeah. Guess you're right. Everything just got away from me." I looked to Kai. "Remember how I said I live in a universe with no Pokémon?" He nodded slowly. "Well…that's where we're heading. So I'm going to need you to get into the Premier Ball for a little bit. When it's okay to let you out then I will."
"Okay, I get it. At least I think I do. I'll just wait for you to call me back out."
"Alright. Return." The command had the Premier Ball shoot a beam of red energy at him, which sucked him into the ball. I took a deep look at the ball, still not fully believing that this was mine. My own Pokéball with a Pokémon to perfectly fit it. I can't wait to see what kinds of heights we're going to be climbing in the future. I minimized the Premier Ball and placed it in my pocket before turning to Mira. "Okay. I'm ready to get going. Hope we get to come back here a lot more."
"Well of course we're coming back a lot more! I think that besides training, it would be nice to get to understand your birth home on a more personal level. Not to mention, I can only take living in a world completely void of Pokémon for so long." She turned to face an open space in the room. She channeled magenta power into her arm and swiped at the air, opening a portal between worlds with 'Spatial Rend'. The two of us jumped into it before it closed behind us. After flying through the rift for about 20 seconds we exited into the woods near my house, at the exact place she opened it in the first place. The portal closed behind us before Mira glowed pink. She channeled her powers to me which had me glowing the same color before we teleported away and reappeared in my room. I sighed and plopped into one of my swirly chairs, practically drained from the crazy day that I just had.
"Well, here you go. Home sweet home." Mira said as she flew around the small space one time.
I sighed and removed my shoes and gloves. "I don't know. The Pokémon World kinda grew on me super-fast."
She smiled and said, "But you didn't do much. You trained, possibly mingled with Pokémon, got kicked around the forest and woke up in a Pokémon Center."
"And it is sad that all of that was the most excitement I have ever had in my entire life. Well…besides meeting you guys of course." I used 'Aura Perception' to see who was in the house and caught three signatures. Crystal in her room, my grandfather Charles downstairs watching T.V., and my grandmother Stephanie cooking dinner. Jynx wasn't in the house so I'm going to have to let him inside. This power is going to be super handy in finding him compared to how I used to call out for him and hope he came around. That cat must have a life of his own that we don't know about.
"Well I'm glad that you managed to enjoy yourself. Though if you'll excuse me, I'll be on my way." She said.
"You're leaving again?" I asked.
"I just think it'd be best if I knew more and more about this Earth. So that includes visiting a lot of places!"
I smirked and took out Kai's Premier Ball. "You could just read books."
Mira crossed her arms and pouted at me, which made her look too adorable. "Now that sounds like something Mewtwo would do and he can be so boooooring sometimes. Exploring is a lot more fun to do. So if you don't mind…" then she just warped out of here to go do whatever she did for fun. Honestly, as long as she did get caught I didn't care where she went. I honestly shouldn't have been worried about that though since she's lived on Pokéarth a lot longer than humans have been on it and only a literal handful of humans have seen her. So I guess she's a true master at hide-and-seek. I placed Kai's Premier Ball on my desk and removed my knew jacket, placing it on the back of my other chair. I picked up my phone that I left here and saw that I had gotten some missed calls. Seven in total. Five from Mohammed and two from Jonta'e. Dammit. I knew exactly what they wanted to talk about. The fight with those niggas most definitely.
Honestly though, I didn't want to have to deal with that noise today. Not after the shit that I just went through. So I figured that I'll handle that tomorrow. And something tells me that I'm going to have to also let them know about what's been going on with me lately. I was serious when I said that I couldn't hide anything from Jonta'e no matter how much I tried to seem believable. He has lying down to an art-form and I don't. He'd know I was hiding something the instant I tried to hide it but he's at least considerate enough to not pry into my business if I don't want him too. I have a feeling that he knows I'd eventually let him know anything that was wrong with me. That's not to say Mohammed isn't clever himself. They both are my best friends for a reason. Jakob too.
I guess I kinda do have one in my Performing Arts classmate, Exceniter, but he's another story entirely.
I sighed and placed the device down before I went to go turn on my lamp, letting light illuminate the room. I pressed the button on Kai's Premier Ball and let it snap open with him bursting out in white light, standing on the ground in front of me. He looked around the room before looking to me and jerking back terribly. He was about to cream in shock before I rushed and threw my palm over his mouth, which he yelled into. "Kai, calm down, it's me!" I yelled in a whisper to him while his breathing slowed down a bit. Shit, guess I forgot to tell him how I change when I go back and forth between both worlds. That should've been the thing I told him after I said I lived in a Pokémon-less world. "Are you calm now?"
He blinked before nodding a few times. I removed my hand from his mouth while his eyes wandered around mine. Then his paws to probably see if I was real.
"Holy shit…Rey?" He whispered in shock. I nodded. He removed his paws from me and stepped back a few steps. "Why…what is…huh!?"
"Shhhh!" I said which had him throw his paws up to his mouth. "Be quiet. We're in my room in my house. My sister is in her room right across from mine. I don't want her to know anything about you being here. And unlike Mira, they won't be able to understand you." Kai nodded one more time, slowly removing his paws. "Sorry I didn't tell you about this…cosmetic change I go through. Again, complicated. To make it simple, let's just say that I kinda have two bodies. The one you saw first is what I look like in the Pokémon World. But in this world…I look like, well, this. It's strange, I know."
"Super strange, no doubt." He replied while I got up to my feet. I walked over to sit in my chair and opened up my laptop. I glanced to Kai to see him looking to me and around the room in curiosity. This was actually the perfect time to ask him something that was bugging me ever since I thought back to our fight.
"Hey, Kai?"
"Uh…yeah?"
"When we beat Machoke back there. I intended to finish him off with the 'Lion's Barrage' and you helped me do it."
Kai got a questioning look on his face as he walked up to my second chair and hopped in it, while I went to check my email. "Yeah? What about it?"
I looked through my inbox to see that I had a couple of messages waiting for me. One was from Jakob, which I couldn't wait to read. Probably about his moving plans to come here to Ohio, or maybe it was about us getting back into the RP we were doing. A few were from YouTube and Facebook…but then I saw a message from someone new. 'Omniarch? Oh, he replied to my review on his story?' I clicked it and focused my attention back on Kai. "Kai, how did you learn about that move?"
"Uhh...what do you mean?"
"What I mean…is that the 'Lion's Barrage' is a technique that I've only seen from an anime, which is an animated T.V. show from a far off country in this world. And that specific show doesn't at all exist in the Pokémon World. Yet you executed the last steps of the move exactly and even said the name of the technique along with me. All in all, you've left me super curious here and I seriously want to hear you answer on how you knew it."
Kai crossed his arms and closed his eyes, giving an audible 'hmmm'. I figured he was thinking on how he could tell me he knew a move from 'Naruto' of all universes while I focused on my Fanfiction. Specifically, this message that Omniarch sent me and holy fuck. That was a bunch of text. Before I could read it, Kai told me his answer.
"Well, if you want me to be honest, I have no idea how I knew it. I mean I saw that you were taking on Machoke when he was powered up by his ability and I closed my eyes. When I opened them I found myself in a weird place with two humans fighting and other humans watching. One of them was a guy with blue hair that was called Sasuke fighting some other dude." His comment made me focus my attention on him entirely. "Then I saw that Sasuke was avoiding this guy who could use Aura in his hand and kept trying to grab him before Sasuke did the 'Lion's Barrage' on him. When I came too after that, I saw that you were trying to do the same move the same way but you couldn't get it through all the way. So I figured…since I knew the move…why not help out?"
"Holy shit." Was all I could say. Mainly because I was thinking of that fight while fighting Machoke. But Kai is telling me that he saw that battle himself? Did he…did he see it through me like how I used my 'Aura' to see through his eyes? Good god, Aura is no joke whatsoever.
"Is…something wrong? You don't believe that answer?" He asked in a slight dejected tone. I shook my head and placed a palm on his, riffling through his locks of hair.
"No, that isn't it. It's just…Kai, I think you saw that battle between Sasuke and Yoroi through me. Because I was the one thinking about it before I actually did it. And just so you know, you know how I found you and Machoke? Well I accidentally used my Aura to connect through you and saw your memories from your perspective. I saw where he chased you and followed you. Guess…we're a lot more connected than I thought we were."
"Whoa." Kai said in a light tone. "Hey…do you wanna watch Naruto?"
"The kid with the orange clothes?" Kai asked in surprise while I nodded. I was using my laptop…so I decided to use my PS4 instead. I grabbed the controller and turned it on along with the T.V. "What's that?" He asked once it turned on.
"My PlayStation 4. It's a video game console."
"A what?" Oh…what a poor uneducated Pokémon.
"Kai…as long as you stay with me, there are a whole bunch of things that you'll have to learn." I went on the internet and went to an anime website before going to Naruto. "Have fun with binge watching."
"Binge what?" He asked but I already clicked the 'play button' and started episode one, moving his chair so that he sat in front of the T.V. while it played. I also made sure that I had the episodes' cycle after the previous one was done so that he could keep watching without me having to do a thing. I saw him lightly jerk as the opening 'Rise' began playing. Alright, now that he was occupied for the moment…what does Omniarch have to say?
Omniarch: Ha-ha, thanks man, I can't tell you how awesome it is to finally have a review from someone who understands all that. I absolutely love OP characters but have seen so very few stories where they are written well, and I do agree that just because he has absolute power does not give him the right to do absolutely whatever he wants. For starters, he limits his infinite skill level in any and all fields, because he is all about fair play and does not wish to have any unnatural, unfair advantage against other Pokémon Trainers in the heat of battle. His omnipotent deification happened over a year prior to the story and he's had time to adjust and customize his powers accordingly to suit everyday life and everyday battles, he is not one to think of himself as being absolutely flawless in every sense and for all his perfect power, he still has imperfect personality flaws and can still make mistakes.
Ash Ketchum One Million is sort of like Yami Yugi in his design in a way, at least where his Pokémon battling skills are concerned. He has never truly lost in a battle but has to work his ass off for each victory and has even dueled some trainers to a tie, and though a lot of his victories were prior to his deification that is actually why he limits his skill level now, because even the Elite Four, the regional Champions, and his own father, Red, would be almost effortless for him to win against and he does not wish to have a complete lack of challenge in beating any one of them. Some could argue his abilities give him an unfair advantage, so that's why he does things the way he does them, limiting his level of skill to what it was prior to becoming one of the most powerful beings in the totality of existence.
He also limits his knowledge base for the same reason, the thrill of discovery, so he is just as clueless about his own future as the rest of the planet, and even though he possesses the ability to use Omni-Chronal perception, or the ability to perceive infinite futures and timelines, he does not use this power and actually limits it to the point of almost not possessing it at all. No matter what happens in the story he will be sticking to his self-created limitations when in battle with his Pokémon, and all of his Pokémon have worked their assess of for the powers they now possess. Fully trained Pokémon are actually technically at a level value of infinity, but for simplicity's sake I capped the level value at a hundred for all Pokémon with above a certain stat total, which in my stories is a googolplex, the largest number known to mankind.
Anyways, if you want to know all the mechanics of my story, they're written in my bio page, which I plan to update with each new capture Ash makes in my story. I even have another story in the works on a version of Ash known as Ash Ketchum 10. From his number, you should be able to tell, or at least I hope you do, that he resides in the 10th removed Pokémon Universe from the Prime Pokémon World in the UV. Honestly man, I love OP characters and wished to change their bad rep because I TRULY believe they have the potential to be amazing characters, they just have to be done right. Also, Ash being tapped into all the present day information and emotions throughout the Omega Omnisphere means he is going to be quite eccentric and nuttier than a shit-house Rattata half of the time, because as I said, there is a limit to how much knowledge someone can have before they're driven off the edge of sanity. Ash Ketchum One Million may not be completely omniscient, however he is a somewhat nigh version of it, though that doesn't mean he can't make mistakes, it just means he has infinite cosmic awareness and perception and is very much aware of things no other human in his world can ever hope to be.
Anyways, that's about it man, just remember that in Pokémon battles or even against someone like Omninoir, Ash is far from unbeatable, he will win most of his battles but he will have to work his ass off for each and every one of them. So don't be expecting him to win without losing a single Pokémon, because that is not going to happen so long as his skill level is limited, and trust me it will be limited with each and every battle he fights. He has a sense of morality and a purpose, and he feels like reaching his objective without having to work for it would render the end result meaningless, so that's why he does things the way he does them. That is why he can lose, why he can be beaten, because any power he has that makes him fundamentally unbeatable and perfect in every sense is limited, either severely or to nigh limitless levels depending on the power. I don't like having OP characters that are unbeatable in every sense and aspect and I think it wouldn't be too far-fetched for a character like that to limit some of their powers in an effort to find meaning in every endeavor they undertake, Ash Ketchum 1M is no different.
Whoa. Okay. Maybe I knew a lot less about this guy's stuff then I thought I did. Same for his characters. So apparently, this Ash has all the power that ever exists and he limits it to properly face challenges that aren't equal to his own ability? That has to probably be the definition of a good sport if I ever saw one. Though there were a few things in this message that I definitely never heard of before, like the term 'googolplex'. I'm assuming the first word that shouldn't pop into my head is 'Google' right? If that's a number term, then I'll have to do a bit of research on that to properly understand as well as look up Omniarch's profile later on. From the story I read and from what he just told me, he's really going to take this whole 'too fucking OP thing' seriously. Even though I said he was writing a good story and I like the way his Ash is turning out, that doesn't mean I'm still entirely comfortable about characters with power like that. I'll just have to read more into what this guy is selling before I can make a final judgement on all of this. Ah, fuck it. I'll check out the profile right now.
It took 10 minutes for me to properly read through everything this guy had written down. First was the little bio of himself at the beginning (With his real name being Thomas) and that he lived in Canada. Everything else was just…practically mind blowing. While Kai's eyes were glued to watching 'Naruto' in the background, I was reading up on how this dude, Thomas, was an Omniverse Theorist! Well…theorist in his mind because I was the only one on this planet who knew it was real. But still! That didn't stop the excitement. This guy truly believed that it was real, just like I did and he was real enthusiastic about it too. I could only have conversations with Jonta'e, Mohammed, Jakob, and Exceniter about the Omniverse, yet this guy was the exact same. He then went on to talk more about how Pokémon in this…Ultra-Verse he called it, functioned. And…and just…holy fuck. With as much power as these 'level infinity' Pokémon have, they might as well be omnipotent themselves. I mean, what kind of world can just accept creatures who has that kind of power so easily!? Any one of these guys can blow up the damn planet with a single punch if they wanted too! And they were fucking invincible! So how are they regulated around the world!? I shook my head of those thoughts. I'm getting worked up over nothing. Heh…these are just stories from an overzealous OP-obsessed guy, right? And I've definitely never heard of anything called an 'Ultra-Verse' before. Only Multiverse and Omniverse were in my definition. However, I did catch one phrase that he used to describe the Omniverse.
Omega Omnisphere.
The exact word my dad said. That alone blew my mind, because this made Thomas the second person I've ever heard that phrase from.
DD: Hey! I checked out your profile like you said! First of all, I'm so HAPPY that you TRULY believe in the same concept of the Omniverse that I do! I mean...I speak to a very small FEW of my friends about alternate universes...but never about the Multiverse/Omniverse. Though you're the second person where I've heard the term 'Omega Omniverse'. I looked it up...it's basically the same concept I had of the Omniverse.
And FULLY knowing what an OP Pokémon of the caliber you're getting at is capable of...at least in this Ultra-Verse, is kinda terrifying. Knowing that ANYONE is possibly capable of possessing a continent, or even planet busting Pokémon if trained right, I mean. Though I understand no one is that irresponsible and both Trainer and Pokémon need to have the Pokémon control that strength along the way.
After I sent my message, I turned around and began to watch the ending of the first episode of 'Naruto' with Kai, who nearly lost his shit when he saw Naruto make over 100 'Shadow Clones' and surrounded Mizuki.
"That's like…a massive 'Double Team'!" He exclaimed.
"Except 'Shadow Clones' are completely solid. So Naruto has the power to make a one-man army."
"I want to learn how to do that with 'Double Team'. Whoa."
Whoa. Wait a second…was that possible? Could 'Double Team' form solid clones? Well…guess I know one thing we're going to be training on along with me teaching Kai how to walk on walk on any surface. Maybe I should do the same for 'Rasengan' too. Pretty soon the second episode began to play I heard a *ping* from my iPod and saw that I had a new message from Thomas. So I went to my laptop and checked the new message.
Omniarch: Hahahaha, yep that's why fully trained Pokémon are considered so potentially dangerous and why the Pokémon League actually restricts their powers when in their Pokéballs. Only Trainers who show great responsibility and care for their Pokémon and the environment are permitted to exceed the more than four moves limitation, along with the limiter that keeps a captured Pokémon from using its full power in battle. Ash actually had his limiters lifted since before his journey even began, his father Fredrick Ketchum, the current world champion arranged for it all beforehand, knowing his son would be responsible with all the powers he'd one day possess and not wanting him to go into battle with any handicaps, especially against all the enemies he'd inevitably make. Red actually knew about Omninoir and the prophecy of the three Chosen Champions all along, which is partly why he went into hiding, but I don't want to give too much away.
About the Omega Omnisphere and your concept of the Omniverse, I was actually a full believer in the Omniverse and believed to be everything you thought it was until I came across the Omega Omnisphere term my friend, and I figured since it was literally everything and anything, and that absolutely nothing existed outside of it by definition, so even the Omniverse isn't all-encompassing. I mean, it is true that it encompasses infinite amounts of time and space, as well as infinite universes, alternate realities, and multiverses, but it doesn't encompass any of the God-Verses or any realm beyond all time and space. God-Verses are basically the realms that are inhabited by each Omniverse's supreme Deity and creator, basically the Omniverse is a gigantic portion of totality, and each one was created by an omnipotent deity almost as primal as the Omega Omnisphere itself? Basically, I wanted a version of Ash Ketchum that truly cannot be topped, who would be the most omnipotent Pokémon master by his fundamental nature, and calling him the Omega Omnisphere's Mightiest Pokémon Master was the best and only true way for me to do that. He isn't just the strongest Pokémon Trainer in my own personal Pokémon multiverse you know, he's the strongest in every multiverse and Omniverse in the entire Omega Omnisphere. He is literally the One-Above-All in Pokémon Master form, or the like. He is the personification of Omnipotence and supremacy itself, hence his title.
But yes, not just any Pokémon Trainer can have a fully trained Pokémon and use them at their full power, otherwise any Trainer with a Champion Level Trainer who gets a really high level Pokémon as a present from his or her dad like Ash did can have a really high level Pokémon right from the start. The planet busting strength of fully trained Pokémon is only accessible to Trainers who have proven themselves worthy of the League, otherwise the Pokéballs limit the strength of such Pokémon, and for damn good reason.
That's kind of why Pokéballs were invented in the One Millionth Pokémon universe, 'cuz in the time of the aura guardians high level Pokémon were truly, utterly terrifying to behold. Sir Aaron's Lucario for instance was powerful enough to hold its own against all three Regis, and that kind of thing. Anyways, in my Pokémon universes high level Pokémon are basically gods, supreme paragons of their species, and the Pokémon League regulates them and their powers whenever a Trainer is being less than perfectly responsible with that kind of power.
Ash Ketchum One Million is the most powerful incarnation of Ash Ketchum anyone can possibly imagine, and quite possibly in the unimaginable category as well, I actually based him off of Superman Gold Prime in the DC One Million comic book, who is the most powerful version of Superman ever created. So yes, most powerful version of Ash, and the strongest version of Pokémon as well, every Pokémon species in the One Millionth universe has the potential to become infinitely powerful examples of their species, to become immortal, to possess near flawless indestructibility and absolute levels of strength, speed, stamina, offensive and defensive powers, and infinite potency in all their attacks, abilities, and their various powers. For example, any fully trained Mewtwo in the one millionth Pokémon universe has absolute willpower or the will of God as it is more commonly known. This affords them the ability to usurp all of creation from its creator and remold it in any way Mewtwo wills, in other words it can exert its infinite willpower over the entire Omega Omnisphere, and since they are fully trained, both of Ash's Mewtwo and Red's Mewtwo have this ability as well as infinite teleportation powers and countless other legendary abilities, such as an infinite skill level in any and all fields of combat, and other epic shit only it and certain other legendary Pokémon have when fully trained.
I only gave the readers a general idea of what each and every Pokémon species is capable of when fully trained, and for simplicity's sake I capped the level value at a maximum of level 100, even though fully trained Pokémon are technically level infinity. And by the way, it's called the Omega Omnisphere, O-M-N-I-S-P-H-E-R-E, remember that, it's an all-encompassing, infinite sphere basically.
...wow, um…okay. That sounds a bit too OP. Also, did he really have to type that out in the end? So I'm not used to using that term? So what?
DD: Omnisphere, Omniverse, same difference. I'll stick with the plain-old Omniverse since I'm more accustomed to it. I also believe that Pokémon are capable of becoming infinitely stronger. Obviously nowhere near One Million universe paced...but it's still the same concept. Hey, do you think that in some cases if one were to travel to another universe they'd have to abide by that universes laws? Like how humans aren't allowed to exist in Mystery Dungeon and are always transformed into Pokémon? Or in the games/manga on how a Pokémon's strength is truly based on level? I think that's pretty cool. But it doesn't happen to EVERY universe.
If anything, I hope I never go through any of what this guy is offering for real. Sure, someone in the Multiverse can also get stronger infinitely but I wouldn't want to have that kind of strength! I mean, god damn! I barely mastered the powers I already got! I watched a bit more Naruto with Kai before I got notified with another message.
Omniarch: Well, in some cases yes, but not in Ash Ketchum One Million's case, he can travel to any universe, any point in the Omega Omnisphere, or Omniverse as you call it, without having to abide by that universe's laws and able to hold that portion of reality together in one piece with his mind in spite of him outright defying it. If Ash Ketchum One Million were transformed into a Pokémon in the mystery dungeon universe, it would be of his own choosing and most likely he'd become an Arceus or a Mew from the One Millionth universe, with all the omnipotence, powers, abilities, and attacks of the real deal. So, even though he doesn't have to abide by any universe's laws, he can if he chooses to and even when he chooses not to he can keep that universe from collapsing on itself from the sheer mechanics involved in his outright defiance. Now you have just given me a new idea for my second story mate, and I thank you for that.
Imagine this, Ash Ketchum One Million in the mystery dungeon universe as a fully trained Mew from his universe, leaving Serena and the others in the one millionth universe to deal with Omninoir alone. It's brilliant, Ash gets caught up trying to help the characters of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Explorers of time and darkness stop a modified version of Primal Dialga and rescue the entire stinking planet. Even despite dealing with a lot in his own world, Ash Ketchum One Million believes in Serena's ability to lead in his stead and would never turn his back on another world in need of his help, especially since he is destined to do exactly this sort of thing, and ultimately his willingness to fight for countless other realities as if they were his own is what transforms him into the Omega Omnisphere's greatest Pokémon master. I think this is a story pregnant with possibilities my friend, and I thank you for giving me yet another idea to work with.
The fuck is he talking about? I wasn't trying to…this guy can be pretty long-winded, huh?
DD: I was just…asking a regular question.
Omniarch: I'm sorry, I guess I got a little carried away there, the rate at which I pick up new ideas is nuts man, believe me, just roll with it, okay? Lol man, your reaction to my eccentricities just made my day, no worries dude, contrary to popular belief I am not crazy or insane, I just believe that the world, the universe is a much bigger place than most people believe and that infinite possibilities may lie beyond it. So I take my ideas where and when I can get them, and I like the fact that you have just given me another possible way to keep this story going, so thank you, and again I'm sorry if I came off as a little overzealous, but seriously man, you just gave me a totally epic idea and I am currently in the process of kicking myself for not thinking of it sooner.
Huh. You know, the more I talk to this guy, the more he's starting to sound pretty alright. Definitely weird and everything but…not bad. Though he says he's not crazy he sure does sound like it. I didn't know that I would be speaking to Thomas a lot more throughout the day, while Kai watched Naruto and exclaimed his excitement over the sight of humans using jutsu or the concept of ninjas. Then there was the time I had to let the current amount of my family know I was in the house and got us food that my grandmother cooked.
And I was none the wiser of how this single interaction would become another massive turning point in my new, strange life.
Uuuuugggggghhhhh. How long have I been working on this chapter? (Looks at watch) Hmmm…I guess…two months. Two fucking months…this one chapter. Over 44,000 words. Honestly, there were a few complications when working on this. Complications that I don't even care about anymore because I'm finally finished with this now and I got out everything I wanted to get out. I've just been dying to introduce Rey's #1 Pokémon, Kai Takashi! The Shiny white Riolu! And if the ending didn't let you know, Kai is slowly on his way to becoming an otaku, just like his dear-old Trainer, which will make training him in all things other-worldly that much easier. Sure, I could've started him on Dragon Ball and then Dragon Ball Z since there is some unspoken rule in the anime committee on how that has to be the FIRST anime you EVER watch, but the whole 'Lion's Barrage' thing got away from me.
Speaking of which…if you don't watch Naruto yourself, yet are curious about the scene that Kai saw, then there is an EASY way to see it. Just go on YouTube and type in "Sasuke vs Yoroi Full Fight" without the quotations obviously. The video is about 8 minutes long. I feel that you can truly appreciate a battle is you can actually see what's happening in at least some aspects instead of always having to visualize. Though there is nothing wrong with visualization, there is also nothing wrong with watching something either.
Hey, I introduced two of my best friends on FF in this one chapter! Krika1119 (Jakob) and Omniarch (Thomas). I suggest that you should check these guys out and check out the stories that they're giving to the community. Though since I mainly focused on Thomas a tad more, you can understand that his stories are a tad crazy. And OP. And…well you saw what he messaged Rey in this chapter. But it's all interesting and I suggest that you take a look. Anyway, yes, these two will also be making appearances in this story if your context clues are on point and will become pretty integral in their own ways along with Rey's (My) friends.
I'm kinda glad for the length of this chapter because I've been neglecting my other stories a bit and I've done decent work on this thing in the past few months. So I'm going to go on a hiatus on this story until January rolls around. Once January hits, then I'll get back into writing chapters for this but until then, read my other work. And read Thomas' and Jakob's work too. Those guys could use the love. Now if you'll excuse me…I have a 15-page draft that I need done by the beginning of the week starting Thanksgiving Break.
Rest in pieces until January!
