"Henry!" Emma's mind had flashed like lightning. It felt like thunder rolling through her head as her terror fired off every single inch of her brain, temporarily striking her blind.
When the demons had called her name, her first fear and thought was not how they may drag her to Hell. It was only of her son.
"HENRY!" Regina's voice was pure agony as she lit herself on fire, summoning all of her magic to try and find the boy, too much at once. Snow frantically began to slap the flames out of Regina's sleeves. If Emma was terrified, then Regina was terrified by powers of 100. She had been the one to raise Henry from a tiny baby, after all.
"Swan? Swan, hey..Hey...We will save the boy. We will...you needn't worry. Swan? Shh, I'm here...see...Can't you see me? It's Killian. It's your Killian, love, look at me, please..." Killian's voice cracked through Emma's blazing mind. He was patting her cheek trying to get her to snap out of it.
"Oh my God, oh my God! What's happening to her? oh my God..." Snow was chewing her fingers behind Killian. Killian gulped noticing this and wondering if Emma was dying. His heart felt for a moment as if it would explode.
A moment of blindness passed. Emma heard a muffled voice.
"Allow me..." an unfamiliar voice, but one she had heard maybe once or twice before came closer.
Emma felt sudden immense calm. A surge of magic passed through her and her eyes opened.
"Shh, it's alright. They won't hurt the boy." Merlin smiled as Emma came back to them. She had been turning to stone from the Fear Spell of this demon horde.
"H-How do you know?" Emma looked into Merlin's eyes, and saw that they were glowing again.
Merlin touched the coin at his throat. It was burning with a white light.
"I can feel him. I know where he is..." Merlin laughed.
"Where?" Regina pushed Emma aside and grappled Merlin by his coat.
"Shh, it's alright, Regina. He's with Arthur." Merlin smiled.
"How do you know?' Regina shook him.
"Arthur has the other half of this...I don't know how I know that, but I do. I can-I can feel his life force, if that makes sense. Like a magnet pulling me. It's pulling me toward him. I know where he is..." Merlin nodded.
"Come on...if we get to Arthur, your son is there with him fighting the armies. Arthur has the Sword of the Stone with him. He can kill these things for long enough until you are ready to summon your magic and command the Spell of Hindrance..." Merlin looked sharply at Emma as if she should know that.
"The what of who?" Emma stammered, falling into Killian's arms a bit.
"You are the Savior...aren't you? I recognized you when I felt your life force. That makes you the Apprentice, my Apprentice. Your magic came from me, dear. And because of that, when the time comes, you will inherit the power to know." Merlin laughed at Emma's bewilderment.
"Come on, we can't dawdle. They are surrounded." Merlin put his hands out to either side. A fire licked up in a thin line, blazing across the forest. It hit the trees and caught them on fire in paths of ghost blue flame, leading the way. Demons covered their eyes and cowered in the wake of that blue light.
"What?!" Regina gasped when she saw this happen.
"Dark magic cannot overcome Light magic. They are two sides of a coin...All magic is born anew and kept alive when Darkness and Light share a soul bond...I am Darkness, born from the Ether of magic itself, and so I can command dark spirits, such as dragons and demons. Arthur is Light, and the virtue of all courage-born magic. Out of the bond we shared, we created the kingdom of magic, of Albion infinite..." Merlin eyed Emma.
"That bond is what created the truest believer magic at the root of all you are. It draws its strength from the power of unconditional love...True love is how you came to be. You are the Savior of Albion because you are the product of thousands of years of love and darkness, of courage and loyalty born to die and be born again. You are the perfect balance of that magic, Emma Swan..." Merlin smiled.
"This way..." He nodded ahead. Quiet, startled, they followed after him, Killian half carrying Emma and speechless at what he'd just heard.
