Ch10: Son of Stone

Somewhere over the skies of Montana, Flash Gordon flies cuts through the cloudy sky with his rocket ship as they fly to the coordinates Batman has selected. The Dark Knight has gathered Luke Cage, Chell, and the White Canary in cockpit to discuss who the next person they are recruiting.

Batman: Alright everyone, listen up! Somewhere in these mountain ranges is a portal to another world and that is where we'll find our next operative.

The Dark Knight then presses a button on a computer terminal and projects a hologram of a Native American from what looks pre-colonization of the United States. The man in the hologram has long black hair down with a feather in the back of, an old leather vest, and a bow & arrows strapped to his back.

Luke: Wait, I've heard of this guy. Are we looking for Turok?

Batman: Correct. For those of you who may not know, Turok is a legend in the Mandan culture. The legend goes he found his way to a "Lost Land" and became it's sole champion. Intel provided by the Network has revealed that his adventures depicted in these legends are not only real, but has saved the universe from reality warping tyrants repeatedly.

Sara: I have a question, you're the "world's greatest detective" right? Why are we chasing after fairy tales?

Batman: Johnny, wrote him out on his list.

Sara: Oh Johnny Cage right... the idiot we're trying to save. How does Johnny even know about him if none of us do?

Batman: Johnny works closely Raiden and other sorcerers who are much aware of what goes on in the world than any of us. Besides...

Batman presses another button on the computer terminal, this time pictures of Turok fighting various monsters in the modern day appear. In one picture he's fighting alongside XO-Manowar and in another picture Turok is fighting alongside the world's heroes in the Battle of Metropolis against the Secret Society of Super Villains. Flash then interjects says "We're getting close, only a few more miles!". The rocket jets off dispersing clouds around it as the heroes go deeper in the mountain range.

Somewhere in the Lost Land, A thunder storm blots out the sky and lightning cracking and dissipating just as quickly rages on. A man with long dark hair is in an intense fire with four Slegs. The man is using the trunk of a tree for cover and peaks his head to shoot an arrow at one of his attackers. The arrow goes right between the Sleg's eyes causing the reptilian soldier to fall like a wet noodle, the man takes his chance and charges the remaining three. The sunlight illuminates the man revealing himself to be Turok. The Dinosaur Hunter lets out a blood curdling scream as he throws his tomahawk at another Sleg leaving only two standing.

Turok pants heavily while looking at the two Sleg. The two reptilian soldiers look at each other and make a run for it. Turok trails behind them, taking one of the laser rifle from a defeated Sleg taking one out as it runs. The Sleg ruins out into a clear with several large rocks all around and a small watering hole with one large rock the size of a house sticking out from the middle of it. Turok begins to tread carefully bad he quietly wade through the water, he feels that someone is standing behind him so he turns around quickly and almost lets his arrow flies until he sees someone that looks like him. Turok is breathing heavily and realizes who this is, the warrior shaman of the Matoka… Nightwolf.

Nightwolf: Son of Stone, your presence is required on Earth.

The Sleg then jumps out from the rock in the middle of the watering hole only to be struck by a lightning bolt called down by Nightwolf. Turok then turns to Nightwolf with an almost bitter expression on his face.

Turok: The four of these Sleg were trespassing on my land, you are doing the same. I suggest you leave.

Turok begins to walk towards the body of the fallen Sleg solider. As he walks away Nightwolf replies "Our people are allies.", this comment rubs Turok the wrong and looks over his shoulder as he stands over the Sleg soldier.

Turok: Were. They WERE allies. I have been home since discovering this place, I know our tribes are not what they once were.

Nightwolf: You have fought alongside Nightwolves before. You have fought alongside the heroes of Earth before, what has changed?

Turok then picks up the Sleg warrior and begins to walk out of the water with him over his shoulder and on his way out of the water he looks at Nightwolf saying "Yes, I have but my duty is too protect this realm". Turok then exits the water and Nightwolf follows behind him.

Nightwolf: This evil that is coming it doesn't just affect Earth. If they conquer the Earth they will bring their armies to this realm and enslave these people too.

Turok: When this great evil comes, the people of the Lost Land we will be waiting for it, ready to fight to the last man.

This comment seemingly angers Nightwolf so he strikes Turok with a blast of green energy. This catches Turok off guard, he turns to fight the shaman but sees that the landscape had completely changed. The jungle is on fire, the watering hole has dried up, and the field is filled with bodies of various races of creature that call the Lost Land home such as Dinsoaurs, Slegs, Neanderthals, various tribes of human, and various alien species of aliens. Turok watches as he sees himself holding the dead body of his descendant Joshua Fireseed lifeless body yelling "Wake up Joshua! Wake Up!". Turok looks up in the sky to giant worm like monsters flying in the blotted out sky shooting meteorites out from their mouths. From the burning trees hordes of the undead and various monsters from the Dark Aether slowly begin to pour into the clearing.

Leading this horde of the undead is Turok's longtime friend who's now zombified, Andar. Large energy blasts come from the sky and the vision of Turok from the future looks to see on top of the rock is Nightwolf wearing a helmet, face covered in Black war point, and armed with a war club. Standing beside the Matokan warrior is the the Akomish conduit Delsin Rowe who's wearing a sleeves vest with no undershirt, skinny jeans, and Mohawk. The two Native American heroes jump down from the rock and begin hold off the horde of monsters. The Turok of the future gets up and joins his allies in the fight.

Future Nightwolf: Matoka, Akomish, and Mandan! We shall stand together!

Future Delsin: Let's just focus on surviving before we comment on how unified we are!

The future version of Delsin is rapidly firing smoke at the undead while Nightwolf takes a Margwa head one. The future version of Turok takes Joshua's assault rifle and joins Delsin is spraying zombies. Turok feels a zombie grab at his right leg, he looks down to see a zombified Andar with his legs blown off grabbing onto Turok's leg. Turok looking down with pitty in his eyes says "I am sorry brother" and shoots Andar directly in the head.

Present day Turok watches this fight unfold and feels the hand of present day Nightwolf grab his shoulder seemingly pulling him out from the vision of the future. Turok looks shellshocked as to what just happened so the warrior Shaman tells him, "Return to the Earth. Mighty heroes who have defended the Earth time and time again are waiting for you at the entrance of a cave". Nightwolf waves his hand and parts the watering hole revealing a stairway that descends. Turok with nothing but his bow, arrows, and two tomahawks walks down the stairs and into a cave where he sees a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Naturally Turok goes toward the light, outside that light is Flash Gordon's rocket ship with Luke Cage, Flash Gordon, Chell, Batman, and the White Canary all prepping to enter another dimension.

White Canary: Alright so dinosaurs, aliens, time displaced humans from any given point in history… Anything else we should worry about?

Flash Gordon: I think that about it covers it. Batman, how far into the Lost Land do we have to go to find him?

Batman responds with "Not far.", the group turns to see Turok standing at the mouth of the cave just observing them. After a moment of silence Turok says "You must be the great warriors I was told of. I am Turok, son of stone. This is-" Turok turns thinking Nightwolf would be right behind him but he is nowhere to be found.

Luke Cage: You good?

Turok: Yes, and I am ready to help you on your journey.

The group now has their archer and are now on their way to California to recruit the rest of the rescue team!
