Chapter 7: Training complete. A dark day for planet Earth.
All the mages had finished their break and sat down to react again.
"Did everyone enjoy their break," asked Malia politely.
"Yeah, we sure did," said Lisanna with a smile. "After we had a bite to eat. Me and Lucy checked out some of the other statues."
Lucy nodded. "Yeah, they sure were interesting. But there is one thing that I'm quite curious about."
"And that is," asked Malia.
"Well, how come every other hero has only one statue? While Goku has two."
Malia chuckled. "Well, that is mostly because my creator is a big fan of Goku. You also could say he is a good friend of him too."
"Oh, I see," said Lucy with a nod.
"Good. Now, let's continue the reaction."
They all eagerly nodded.
The screen showed a couple of scenes of what happened last time. With the storyteller in the background.
"Last time. Goku completed his journey down snake way to reach King Kai."
Wendy nodded. "That's true. It certainly took a while for him to get there. But it all worked out."
Erza nodded with a smile. "That it did."
"But before his real training can begin. Goku must learn to overcome the intense gravity on King Kai's planet by chasing a monkey."
Lisanna smiled when she saw Bubbles. "Oh, he is just so precious."
Mira nodded in agreement.
"Only 158 days remain until the Saiyans arrive. Will Goku be ready in time? His quest continues, now."
The screen showed Goku, who was apparently taking a lunch break before he continued with his chase for Bubbles. The mages had their eyes and mouth wide open at the speed that Goku was stuffing his face. It looks like he doesn't need to chew his food. He just swallowed it down.
"Oh, god," said Lucy with a disgusted look. "Goku's table manners are even worse than Natsu's."
"What incredible speed," said Erza with fascination. "How does he do it?"
Natsu grinned. "Wow, look at him go. I bet that even I will lose in a food challenge against Goku."
Happy nodded. "Aye, that's true."
King Kai stood next to the Saiyan from Earth.
"I can't believe how this boy just wolfs it down. What horrible table manners," thought the overseer of the north quadrant.
He was holding a plate with rice balls. Well, not anymore. Goku took them in a blur.
"Hey. You're going to eat me out of a house and home."
Goku smiled. "No, I'm saving that for dessert."
King Kai laughed. "Saving it for dessert. Bwahaha, that's a good one. Wait, you're kidding, right?"
"I don't think he is," said Mira with a giggle.
Goku patted his stomach in satisfaction.
"Those really hit the spot. Not very tasty. But pickers can't be choosers."
Each mage sighed at Goku's words. "Really Goku," said Mira. "At least be a bit less blunt about how you express yourself."
"Well, that's gratitude for ya. You could at least show some respect. You are a guest in my home you know."
Lucy nodded at King Kai's words. Both Goku and Natsu could learn some better etiquettes if you asked her.
After a while. Goku resumed his training. But King Kai told him to wear his weighted clothing.
"But King Kai. I can barely run as it is. If I put those clothes back on, I won't stand a chance."
"Well, would you like to know a secret? The world where the Saiyans came from had roughly the same gravity as here. To them, what I asked of you would be a walk in the park."
Goku was shocked at King Kai's words.
"Well, I guess that explains their strength," said Gray with a frown.
Juvia nodded at her boyfriend's words.
"How else do you think they buffed themselves up? Not to say that's all there is to it of course. You see, Saiyans are born with an innate ability to fight. Almost a six sense for battle if you will. That's what makes them so remarkably dangerous."
Erza was amazed. "A six sense for fighting? My, that's quite impressive."
"No kidding," said Gray. "Having such an ability during a fight could easily give you a huge advantage."
Goku smiled. "Hey, that's okay. After all, I'm a Saiyan too."
After saying that Goku continued his chase of catching Bubbles.
"He has a point," said Lucy with a grin. "Even though Goku doesn't like his race, which I totally understand. Having the same innate ability as his opponents will even the odds."
"That's true," said Laxus with a frown. "However, that only works if his opponents are on the same level as him."
"True enough," said Gildarts.
The screen changed towards a familiar wasteland where Gohan and Piccolo were having a sparring session. After defending himself from a series of blows. Gohan countered, and delivered a strong jab on his left cheek.
The mages cheered.
"Wow, that was amazing," said Wendy with a smile. "Gohan finally landed a blow."
"He sure did," said Mira with a proud look.
"Nice little jab there," said Piccolo with a chuckle. "But who said you were done."
Piccolo struck Gohan with a right punch that made him fall in the river below.
"GOHAN," yelled Mira worriedly.
The boy was holding on to a rock. Gohan reached toward Piccolo.
"Help, please. I don't know how to swim I'm going to drown."
Piccolo grabbed Gohan's hand and pulled him out of the water.
Everyone sighed in relief. But that didn't last long.
"Believe me, drowning is the least of your worries," said Piccolo.
He began to attack Gohan again with a series of blows that made him fall into the water again. Luckily the boy managed to grab the river's edge.
Mira clenched her fists in anger. But she remembered her master's words and tried to calm down.
"Damm, Piccolo certainly doesn't hold anything back when training Gohan," said Elfman with a gulp.
"His training methods are far too harsh," said Lucy with a frown. "Especially towards a young boy who's only four."
Levi nodded at her friend's words. "Yeah, I agree with you there."
"So far his true power only shows itself under a full moon. Which means I'll have to push him even harder."
All the mages were worried for Gohan's safety when they heard Piccolo's words. But there wasn't anything they could do about it.
The scene changed again. It was the middle of the night. And Gohan and Piccolo were sitting at a campfire. Gohan had bruises all over his body. You could see the boy was in pain. But he didn't let out a single tear.
"Poor, Gohan," said Mira with a concerning look.
"Hmph, well it would seem that the last six months have run the crybaby out of you at least," said Piccolo.
"Well, you can't deny that," said Gajeel with a grin.
Gohan chuckled at Piccolo's words. "Hey, is it really true that you and my dad used to fight each other a long time ago?"
"That fight is far from over, believe me. Once the Saiyans are defeated, if they are defeated. I intend to pick up where we left off."
All the mages frowned at Piccolo's words.
Gohan smiled. "Yeah, but my dad used to tell me. He said ever since you were reborn you're not nearly as bad as you used to be. He said you're now more grumpy than evil."
All the mages chuckled at that.
Natsu nodded his head. "Yep, I think so too."
"I don't know. I think he's kinda right. But, I mean my mom is still totally scared of you and all."
Piccolo was taken aback by Gohan's words.
"Stop blabbering and go to sleep. If you think today's training was hard just wait until what I got in store for you tomorrow."
"Yes sir," said Gohan nervously and went to sleep.
Piccolo frowned. "Impudent little brat."
Mira clenched her fists. She was getting more doubts about Piccolo turning good because of Gohan.
But Marakov smiled. He could see the change in Piccolo's eyes. They held no ill intent towards the boy. He just didn't know how to react to Gohan's words.
The scene changed again towards King Kai's planet.
"And so it was. That three weeks of intense training came and went. Seemingly in a blink of an eye."
All the mages saw how Goku finally managed to catch Bubbles thanks to some quick thinking.
"He did it," said Levi with a grin.
Lucy nodded with a smile. "Yeah, he sure did. That was some strategy he pulled off."
Goku cheered as he jumped into the air. "I did it. I caught the monkey."
Erza chuckled at Goku's happy attitude.
"His energy is truly amazing this one. In practically no time at all. The gravity of this planet has become nothing to him. If he keeps this up, it's possible he may even master the Kaio-ken technique," thought King Kai with an exciting look.
The mages were confused.
"Kaio-ken? What kinda technique is that, said Erza curious.
All mages shrugged their shoulders.
Malia chuckled. "The technique called Kaio-ken multiplies the user's ki for a heartbeat. It increases the user's power and speed and enables them to inflict serious damage to opponents who are considerably stronger than them."
"Wow, that sounds incredible," said Lisanna with a smile.
Gildarts frowned. "Yeah, maybe. But using such a technique will no doubt have some side effects."
"Yes," said Malia seriously. "The downside of the Kaio-ken is that it takes a heavy toll on the user's body. The enormous stress of the technique can result in increased blood pressure, popping out veins, and swelling of the user's muscle mass. The technique requires the use of Ki control to handle it properly."
"That sounds like a risky technique indeed," said Marakov with a worried look.
"Yes, but with training, the length of activation can be increased. While the Kaio-ken is already a useful technique in its base form. The technique's true potential is in its ability for the power multiplier to be stacked, from doubling of the base Kaio- ken to a tripling, quadrupling, and even further. The limits of the multiplier are linked to the user's body toughness in addition to experience."
"Amazing," said Erza with a smile. "Does Goku master this technique in the near future?"
"Yes, he does. But you will all find out for yourselves soon enough."
The mages all nodded.
The next training exercise that Goku had to do was chasing a grasshopper called Gregory. And try to hit him with a huge mallet.
Lucy sweatdropped. "King Kai's training exercises sure are strange."
Gray nodded. "Yeah, chasing a monkey. And now trying to hit a grasshopper with a mallet."
Mira chuckled. "Yes, they might be silly in appearance. But they are certainly great training exercises. Gregory might be even faster than Bubbles."
"Yes, and if Goku manages to overcome this obstacle. His speed and strength will rise even higher," said Laxus with a grin.
"Once you manage to hit Gregory with that mallet. You're training with me will truly begin. How does that sound," said King Kai with a smile.
"Now you're talking," said Goku with an exciting grin.
"Alright," said Natsu. "Let's hope that Goku will hit that grasshopper soon. I really want to know what that Kaio-ken technique looks like."
"Yeah, I got to admit. I'm quite curious about it too," said Gajeel with a grin.
"Hmph. This two-bit rookie couldn't catch a cold let alone someone as quick as moi," said Gregory with a superior tone.
The next few scenes showed how Goku tried to hit his speedy opponent. But unfortunately, the swings missed their target by an inch each time.
Though, Goku did manage to hit something though. King Kai's beautiful car.
"Well, at least he has the right attitude," said North Kai depressed.
"Poor King Kai," said Lisanna with a light chuckle.
Bubbles tried to comfort his owner by giving him a handkerchief to wipe away his tears.
"Thank you Bubbles."
The battle between Goku and Gregory continued.
"I will become stronger than the Saiyans," thought Goku with a determined look.
He vanished with amazing speed and tried to catch the grasshopper off guard. But Gregory noticed and managed to dodge the hit by an inch.
"Too bad," said Gray with a frown. "He almost had him."
Erza nodded. "Yes. But I'm confident that Goku will overcome this trial soon. His movements are getting quicker by the minute."
Mira smiled. "That's certainly true. The training he did with Bubbles certainly paid off. It will only be a matter of time before he hit Gregory."
They all nodded at the takeover mages' words. The scene changed towards the lookout where Kami and Mr. Popo stood before the Z-warriors.
"I am pleased to confess that there is nothing left for us to teach you. Without a doubt, you have far surpassed both Mr. Popo and myself. Return now to your homes. And hone the skills you have learned until that fated day of conflict is upon us. The future is in your hands."
"Right," they all said.
"So they finally finished their training under Kami and Mr. Popo," said Wendy with a smile.
"They certainly look a lot sturdier than before," said Charla.
"Uh, hey. Can we get out of these heavy clothes now, or what," asked Yajirobe.
"Yes, you may do as you wish," said Kami.
"Yajirobe certainly hasn't changed much, has he," said Lisanna with a light chuckle.
Erza sighed. "Unfortunately not. It's such a shame really."
"I say we go and put the finishing touches on," said Yamcha with a grin.
"Yeah," said Krillin with a nod. "At this rate, I feel we can power up forever."
"We're invincible," said Chiaotzu with a smile.
"They certainly aren't lacking in spirit," said Erza with a chuckle.
Natsu nodded. "Yeah, and it looks like Krillin has become a lot more confident in his skills."
"If we're invincible. I can't wait to see what has become of Goku," thought Tien with a smile.
The screen changed again towards King Kai's planet. The mages could hear the storyteller's voice in the background.
"Meanwhile, after two weeks of lugging an enormous hammer around."
The mages saw how Goku finally managed to hit Gregory. He threw the large hammer towards the flying Gregory with enormous speed. And ran in the opposite direction. When the mallet passed the grasshopper. Goku appeared and caught the object in midair. And hit the startled grasshopper right on his head.
"He did it," said Wendy with a cheer. "What a smart and ingenious move."
All the mages nodded.
"If I whacked you as hard as I could. You would be smushed," said Goku with a grin.
"Hah, dream on, ape. My body is as tough as marble I will have you know. Good luck with the Saiyans if that's all you got."
Goku smiled. "Really? So, that bump was already there?"
Gregory held his head in pain while Goku laughed.
"Well, he had it coming," said Gajeel with a chuckle.
"Oh dear," said Mira with a chuckle. "Poor Gregory."
"Excellent," thought King Kai. "And still 118 days left. Could he really be the one? The student I have been waiting for to master my techniques."
All the fairy tail members smiled at Goku, who was still laughing. But with both Gregory and Bubbles by his side.
"Not only does he possess the strength to master the Kaio-ken. He has the purity of heart required to wield my most powerful attack. The Spirit Bomb."
"The Spirit Bomb," said Lucy curious. "That sounds like one heck of an attack."
"And it sounds so cool," said Natsu with a grin.
"You're still going to keep your promise won't you," asked Goku.
"Make no mistake boy. This training will be more strenuous than you could possibly imagine. Are you ready?"
"You bet I am," said Goku with a determined look.
All the mages grinned at Goku's answer.
"YEAH. NOW THAT'S A REAL MAN."
"Very well, Goku. Expect nothing less than yourself to be the best. I want you to aspire to greatness you hear, greatness."
Goku clenched his fist. "It's a deal."
Laxus smirked. "Now, that's determination worthy to be in the thunder god tribe."
"Yes," said Freed with a grin. "That's for sure."
The scene changed towards Kame house. Master Roshi and Bulma stood before a short old woman who wore a tall pointed hat and a dark one-piece gown. She appeared to be sitting on a floating crystal ball.
"That must be that fortune teller, Baba," said Juvia.
"Yeah, I guess so," said Gray with a curious look. "I must say, she certainly looks the part of a fortune teller."
"Sister, I really appreciate it if you would tell us the future of the Earth."
"Their brother and sister," said Lucy shocked. "I didn't expect that. They look nothing alike."
"Except maybe the beard," said Happy with a chuckle.
Everyone snickered at the exceed's words.
"Sure, no sweat. Easiest thing in the world," said Baba.
"You don't have to look that far. Just the next year."
The short witch jumped off her crystal ball. "Fine then. But you're going to owe me."
The woman began to chant some incantations. All the mages were waiting in anticipation of the witch's prediction.
"Does she really know how to tell the future," said Juvia in disbelief. "I really don't buy it."
Levi nodded. "Yeah, me neither."
Canna frowned. "My predictions also don't come true most of the time. Sometimes I can't predict anything at all."
Baba, after a while, looked confused at her crystal ball. "That's odd. Either this thing is on the fritz or the Earth has no future."
All the mages were shocked at the woman's prediction.
"Oh, no," said Wendy worried. "That isn't good."
Gildarts snorted. "Please, you don't have to take whatever she says so seriously. Prediction the future truthfully is almost impossible."
Laxus nodded. "Yeah. Besides, Goku is still alive. So we both know the Earth survived. We just don't know how."
Gray nodded at that.
The scene changed. This time towards Gohan and Piccolo. Who were clashing with each other with incredible speed.
"Yes, that's right. Focus your strength. Learn to control your power," said Piccolo.
Everyone smiled at the progress Gohan had made in such a short amount of time.
The scene changed again towards King Kai's planet. Where Goku was having some kind of race with King Kai. The speed at which they were moving was incredible. They both rushed through rocky pillars that broke down on contact.
"AWESOME," said Natsu with stars in his eyes. "Goku looks so awesome with that white glow around his body. Is that glow that Kaio ken technique?"
Malia chuckled. "Yes. Though, when he truly masters it the aura becomes crimson in color. Almost like he is on fire."
The others were impressed.
Erza smiled. "I wonder how much stronger Goku has become?"
"I rather not spoil it for you. You will all find out soon enough."
The scene changed again. They were still on King Kai's planet. But Goku was standing in front of King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory. His clothes were ripped in all kinds of places. And definitely had seen better days. But Goku's physical build had certainly increased.
"Well, this is it. The last day of your training with me. I wish we had another month to hone your comedy skills. But other than that. I taught you all you need to know how to succeed."
Lucy sweatdropped. "Yeah, I don't think that's necessary."
Everyone chuckled at the blond mage's words.
"Why don't we review what you have learned? Just to be sure."
Goku nodded.
"First up, Bubbles."
The monkey took his place next to Goku.
"Ready, Go," said King Kai.
Bubbles took off with incredible speed. But Goku caught him immediately.
"Point 8 seconds," said King Kai amazed. "That's a new record."
"Incredible gain of speed," said Marakov impressed.
"Yeah, he certainly improved a lot," said Gildarts with a grin.
"Next, Gregory."
The grasshopper began to glow and moved with fast speed towards Goku when King Kai gave the starting sign. But Goku easily disappeared in an instant and appeared behind the dumbfounded grasshopper. He easily hit his target.
"1.2 seconds. Astounding," said the North deity.
Goku chuckled at the praise. "Hey, thanks"
"Okay, next let's try the Spirit bomb."
"I've been waiting for this," said Goku. And he began to concentrate.
All the fairy tail members were at the edge of their seats. They wondered what this so-called Spirit bomb would look like.
White energy began to cover Goku's body. He lifted his right arm and began to gather the energy in his right hand.
"It looks so beautiful," said Lisanna with a smile.
"It looks awesome," said Natsu with a grin.
Erza marveled at the technique. "I wonder if it's his own energy that he gathered. Or something else," thought the scarlet-haired beauty.
"Okay, King Kai. Whenever you're ready. Let it rip."
King Kai nodded and began to create a brick. And let it fly at incredible speeds.
"Does he have to hit that," said Elfman surprised. "No way. That's way too fast."
"Maybe there's a trick to it," said Mira in deep thought.
They all saw how the brick began to move even faster than before. Goku began to concentrate. After a while, he widened his eyes and let his attack loose. It hit the target and exploded. The force of said attack made fierce winds that were felt throughout the clearing.
King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory had to shield their eyes from the harsh winds that blew in their faces.
"WOW, THAT WAS SO COOL," said Natsu with stars in his eyes.
"Aye," said Happy in agreement.
"SO MANLY!"
"He was able to hit a target that was moving at such high speeds," said Erza with amazement. "How did he do that?"
"I think he did it by using his senses," said Gildarts with a smile.
"I can't believe it," said King Kai in astonishment. "Well done Goku. To be perfectly honest. I didn't think you would be able to handle the Spirit bomb so skillfully."
"It wasn't easy," said the Saiyan from Earth.
"Goku," said King Kai seriously. "You mustn't forget. The energy used to form the spirit bomb is gathered from all forms of life."
The mages were shocked when they heard this.
"Energy from all lifeforms," said Lucy surprised. "That is one heck of a technique."
"Yeah, imagine being able to gather all the Ethernano in the atmosphere and earth," said Grey.
King Kai continued his explanation. "From trees, from animals, from plants. Even the particles of energy that make up the air in the atmosphere. Contribute a small share of energy to the bomb."
"Incredible," said Erza with a smile. "I didn't know that such a technique existed."
"Me neither," said Mira also in amazement.
"Therefore, you must be very careful. You see, you have mastered the Spirit bomb here on this small planet. But the Spirit bomb that you will form on Earth with his enormable life forms will have immense power compared to this small one."
Levi nodded in agreement. "He makes a good point."
"And if the sun happens to be up when you form the Spirit bomb. You'll be harnessing and trying to control a power of indescribable magnitude. That could easily destroy the Earth if even the slightest error is made in handling it."
"Damm, that's not good," said Gray with a worried look.
Lucy swallowed nervously.
"If possible. I like you refrain from using the Spirit bomb. But if you must, use it only once. Understand?"
Everyone could only agree with King Kai's words.
Marakov smiled at the deity. "He is certainly a wise teacher. Despite his funny appearance."
Mira chuckled. "That is true, master. Just like you."
Marakov chuckled nervously with an embarrassed look.
"Got it. I stick to the Kaio-ken technique. That should do it," said Goku with a determined look.
Erza and Cana smiled at their crush's words.
"Well, I'm afraid the time has finally come to say our goodbyes," said King Kai. "The Saiyans will arrive on Earth tomorrow."
"You know, I wonder how Goku is going to arrive on Earth in time," said Lucy curious.
Natsu shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe that King Kai guy will teleport him. He is a deity after all."
Marakov suddenly had a feeling of dread. He hoped it wasn't true.
"OH NO," yelled King Kai suddenly. "WHAT HAVE I DONE."
All the mages were a bit surprised at the sudden outburst from the deity.
"Wow, hey. Done what," said Goku confused.
"Uhm, so, don't lose your head. But I may have forgotten to factor in how long it would take you to get back home."
All the mages had their eyes widened in shock.
"HE WHAT," they all yelled.
Marakov smacked his head. Of course, his feeling of dread had to be right.
"How can King Kai make such a mistake," said Lucy with an annoyed look.
"But, King Kai. I thought you were going to send me back. Can't you teleport me?"
King Kai shook his head.
"You mean I have to take snake way all the way back? It took me six months to get here. I can't make it by tomorrow," said Goku worried.
"No, but you're faster now. So it won't take you as long. Maybe two days at most. And I'll have Kami meet you at the end and take you the rest of the way."
"Two days is still too long," said Lisanna with a frown.
"No, I don't have two days. They're almost there now. Everyone is gonna die," said Goku in a scared tone.
Everyone gave a sad look at the Saiyan's words.
"Poor, Goku," thought Erza.
"Quit being such a baby. I messed up. Don't you think I feel bad enough already?"
"Goku is just worried about his friends," said Wendy with a pout. "No need to call him names."
"Now, it's important we get in touch with your friends back on Earth, fast. Tell them to wish you back to life immediately."
"Yes, that is indeed the best course of action," said Evergreen. "They have to act quickly."
"Yeah, I know. But how is Goku supposed to contact his friends," said Elfman confused?
"How? I know you don't have a phone. Unless I missed it."
"There's no phone. Now listen carefully. You're going to put your hand on my back and think as hard as you can. And your friends will hear you."
"Oh, so that's how," said Lisanna with a smile. "That's convenient."
"Really," said Goku surprised.
"Yes."
"Here," asked the Saiyan as he put his hand on King Kai's back.
"Yes, now hurry up and think."
"Hey, master Roshi. It's me Goku. If you can hear me say something okay? Please. Are you there old timer?"
Gajeel chuckled. "Old timer. That's a good one."
Laxus grinned. "Hey, gramps. That's a good nickname for you."
Marakov gained a tick mark on his forehead. "Kids these days. No respect I tell you."
Mira giggled at two.
The screen suddenly changed to kame house. Where Master Roshi was reading a magazine…. While he was taking a dump.
All the mages were responding differently. Some of them laughed or chuckled. While some of got disgusted by it.
"Really, Malia. Did you had show us this," said Lucy annoyed.
Malia giggled. "Maybe not. But I just wanted to see all of your reactions."
When Roshi suddenly heard his star pupil's voice in his head. He began to turn his head left and right. "Goku? Is that you? Where are you?"
"Hey, it's really him. He can hear me. I'm here with King Kai. Kami send me to him. He's the one who I have been training with for the last six months. He's helping me talk to you with my thoughts. Cause I'm still here in other world."
"Mmm, it reminds me of Warren's telepathic ability. But on a much higher scale," said Erza in deep thought.
"Yes, that's true," said Mira with a nod. "Warren's telepathy, unfortunately, has his limits."
"Oh, okay," said Roshi a bit dumbfounded.
"How's it going with the Dragon Balls? Have you guy's found all seven yet?"
"We sure have. Had them for a while now. We didn't rest until we had them all in case you were ready to come back early."
Everyone sighed in relief.
"That's great news. Okay, I need you to do me a favor. Use the dragon balls to summon Shenron and wish me back to life as soon as you can, okay? The Saiyans are close and moving fast. They'll be there tomorrow."
"WHAT! Impossible. They can't be here tomorrow. It hasn't been a year yet. They are a month early."
"Wait," said Lucy in surprise. "You mean they arrived earlier than expected?"
"Looks like it," said Gray with a frown.
"Oh dear, that's not good," said Mira worriedly.
"No, it's not. Goku's friends will be caught completely off-guard. There is no time to warn them either," said Erza with clenched fists.
"Yeah, I know," said Goku with a concerned look. "And I won't make it back until the day after. Somehow the others have to hold on until I get there."
Marakov nodded sadly. "I'm afraid that's the only thing they can do."
"Yeah, you're right master," said Gildarts with a frown. "But against those odds."
Laxus gritted his teeth. "Those Saiyans won't show them any mercy. Especially that Vegeta guy."
Natsu pouted. "But Malia did say that Vegeta will turn good."
"That may be true, Natsu," said Erza with a stoic look. "But she also said that won't happen until much later. The Vegeta we will now see on the screen is pure evil. And has no mercy against his enemies."
Natsu nodded in understanding. "Yeah, that's true."
"Not so hard, Goku," said King Kai who was laying on the ground thanks to the Saiyan's strength. "You're suffocating me."
The deity began to turn red in the face.
"Whoops, sorry about that," said Goku with a nervous look.
"Oh dear," said Mira with a smile. "Looks like Goku doesn't know his newfound strength yet."
"Looks like it," said Erza with a chuckle.
"We can bring you back right away. You say you have been training. That's great. We have been training hard too."
Natsu snorted at that. "Yeah, right," the pink-haired dragonslayer thought.
"So how's it going? You think you're ready to take on the Saiyans?"
Goku nodded. "Absolutely."
"Oh what a relief. Hearing that makes me feel a good ten pounds lighter."
"Eww," said Lucy with a grossed-out look.
Meanwhile, in the living room of Kame house. Bulma, Turtle, a flying cat (which made all the exceed smile), and a pig were all looking at the toilet with a concerned look.
"Uh-oh. You think he's okay? It's not a good sign when old people start talking to themselves in the bathroom," said the pig.
Everyone had a good laugh at that. Well, except Marakov.
"Why those youngsters. No respect I tell you," said the small mage with a grumpy face.
"That's weird even for him," said Bulma.
They suddenly heard the toilet flushing. And Master Roshi came out of the bathroom with an urgent look. He didn't even put his pants on properly. He was still holding them up with one hand.
"Listen up. Get the dragon balls ready to go. We don't have much time."
The mages were laughing at the old man's state of clothing.
"Oh, man," said Grey. "This is hilarious."
Juvia chuckled at her boyfriend's words.
The screen suddenly began to show Goku again.
"That was neat. Thanks, King Kai. I can't believe I got through to him."
The deity chuckled. "Easy as pie."
"Oh man," said Natsu with a hungry look. "Now I'm craving for some pie too."
"I'll be more than happy to give you pie during your next break, Natsu," said Malia with a chuckle.
The dragonslayer smiled at that. "Thanks, Malia. You're awesome."
"For me fish please," said Happy with a grin.
"But of course, Happy," said Malia.
"I get to be alive again," said Goku with an exciting look.
"That's right. Now, while we wait for your friends to get those dragon thingies ready. Let's do something about that raggedy training outfit of yours. Whaddaya say?"
"Yeah, that's a good thing. Goku's clothes have seen better days," said Canna with a chuckle.
"Really," said Goku with a smile.
"Watch," said the deity.
King Kai pointed his antenna at the Saiyan from Earth. And in a flash, they were good as new.
"Wow, what a handy technique," said Lisanna. "Piccolo has that ability also."
Yeah," said Elfman with a nod. "Reminds me so much of Erza's Requip magic."
The red-haired beauty in question nodded at that. "Yes, a little bit. But it's much faster. And it doesn't need any chant."
"Hey, thanks. It's really light."
"I thought you might appreciate that," said King Kai. "But it's not just light. It's made out of incredibly strong fabric. It can even repel attacks. Small ones."
"Great," said Wendy with a smile. "Now Goku will have at least something to protect himself from those Saiyan meanies."
"Yes, that's true," said Charla. "Even if it is only against small attacks. It still will be useful."
"Thank you so much, King Kai. Aaah, check it out. You left the turtle emblem. Neat. Although I was hoping since I've been training under you. I get to wear your symbol now, you know?"
"Look at the back," said the deity.
"Aaah, the back." Goku turned around. "hat's there, I can't see it."
"Nice," said Laxus with a grin. "World King. That's sure is a badass kanji."
"Yeah, gotta agree with you there," said Gajeel.
"Your former master's symbol is on the front. While mine is on the back."
Goku looked at King Kai's glasses and saw the new symbol in its reflection.
"Great," said Goku with a smile.
The screen changed towards Gohan and Piccolo. The young Saiyan was in the fight of his life. Dodging Piccolo's energy beams.
"Wow, that's some harsh training," said Elfman with a nervous look.
Lisanna nodded at her big brother's words.
"Stand your ground. You have to counterattack. Don't just evade," said Piccolo sternly.
"Easy thing for you to say," said Lucy. "How is Gohan supposed to do that?"
Erza chuckled. "Don't worry Lucy. I think by Gohan's look we're about to find out."
The young Saiyan in question had a determined look on his face. He suddenly began to dodge each attack with incredible speed.
"Fine," thought the boy.
Piccolo was surprised by the boy's sudden speed. He tried to hit Gohan with two of his blasts. But the boy vanished before they could hit him. He then reappeared in the air to land a dropkick on his teacher.
"Yeah, that's the way, Gohan," said Natsu with a grin.
Erza nodded. "Yes, very good."
But Piccolo counterd first. And struck Gohan with an eye laser attack that shocked the hell out of him.
"GOHAN," yelled Mira worriedly.
"Damm, that has to hurt," said Gajeel.
When Gohan didn't move at first. Each mage suddenly saw Piccolo's expression change. Was that... concern?
"Are you alright? I may have gotten a little bit carried away there. You're not going to die on me are you?"
"Aaaw, he's worried about Gohan," said Lisanna with a smile.
"Well, it seems you were right about Piccolo all along master," said Mira with a soft smile.
Marakov chuckled. "It comes with experience dear. Don't worry. You will get there too someday.
Gohan slowly stood up. "No fair," the boy said with a pout. "You promised you wouldn't use your eye beams thing."
"So adorable," thought all the girls.
"AND WHAT IF I DID," yelled Piccolo. "YOU CAN NEVER TRUST YOUR ENEMY. ESPECIALLY IN A FIGHT!"
Everyone frowned at that. Though Piccolo made a good point. There were a lot of people out there who would use anything to win. Cheating was one of them.
"Yeah. Well… but you're not the enemy," said the boy quietly.
"Aaaw, he sees Piccolo as his friend already," said Lucy with a smile.
Wendy nodded. "Yes, that he does. I believe that's why Piccolo became so attached to Gohan. He might never have had a friend before because of his appearance. Gohan is maybe the first person who ever treats him normally."
All the mages suddenly got a sad look on their face.
Gajeel clenched his fists. He knew what that was like. He wasn't exactly good-looking. And his appearance frightened many people. That's why he joined Phantom lord so many years ago. They didn't care how you looked. Only your strength mattered in that guild. And for a long time. Gajeel thought that having great power was all that mattered. That changed however when he first fought Natsu.
The dragonslayer snorted. He still needed a re-match with that Salamander.
Anyway, he lost terribly. Natsu had something. Something he hadn't. At first, he didn't know what that was. And it took a while to find out what that was. After he joined Fairy Tail, thanks to a certain old man. He finally figured it out. Though he didn't want to admit it at first. It was a bond between friends. His family. And the reason to protect them. Gajeel gave the person who was sitting next to him a soft smile.
How this shorty found a way in his heart. And why she even fell for him in the first place, he would never understand. But, Gajeel understood this. Fairy Tail was his family. And he would always protect it. But, Levi was someone he would protect to his dying breath.
Levi suddenly noticed Gajeel looking at her with a soft smile.
"What's wrong," said the script mage confused.
"Nothing Chibi," said Gajeel with a smile. The dragonslayer held her girlfriend close. "Nothing at all."
Levi blushed at the sudden affection. But smiled and laid her head against Gajeel's shoulder.
Canna, who was sitting behind the couple, sighed sadly. She really needed a boyfriend in her life. Cuddling together like that looks so great.
The screen changed towards seven glowing orbs that were glowing with a golden light.
Natsu got excited. "Finally, we'll get to see and hear that cool dragon Shenron."
"I must admit. I'm very interested to see it too," said Erza with a smile.
"Now, Shenron, come forth," said Roshi.
Though after he said it. The old man got a bit scared and ran back to Bulma and the rest.
Everyone sweatdropped at that.
Dark clouds began to form in the sky. The screen showed Gohan and Piccolo, who were also witnessing this phenomenon.
"It got so dark. And it's still the middle of the afternoon," said the boy in awe.
"Wow, awesome," said Natsu with a grin.
Lucy swallowed nervously. "Yeah, it sure is."
At the beach of Kame house. Everyone was getting antsy. The pig suddenly grabbed Bulma in fright.
The woman gained an annoyed look on her face. "Hands of creep."
Canna smirked. She liked Bulma. She had spunk.
"This never gets any easier," said the Pig who Malia said was called Oolong.
"What a wimp," said Laxus with a snort.
Suddenly, a golden stream of energy came out of the seven orbs. It began to take the form of the green dragon that they saw in Goku's childhood memories.
"Shenron is so beautiful," said Wendy with a smile.
"And majestic," added Lisanna.
Mira nodded in agreement at her sister's words.
"Amazing," said Juvia.
Gray grinned. "Awesome."
The green dragon roared. "You who have gathered the seven dragon balls. Speak your wish now."
"He sounds scary," said Happy who was hiding behind his best friend.
Natsu patted his pal on the head. "Don't worry buddy. It can't hurt you."
"Well," said Oolong nervously. "What if we asked Shenron to destroy The Saiyans before they even got here? That way we won't even need to fight them."
Everyone frowned at the pig's words.
"And let Goku stay dead. How dare that hamlet even think that," said Erza with an angry look.
A red and dangerous aura began to surround Titania. Gray and Natsu held each other in fright.
"What kind of stupid idea is that? What about Goku? You just want him to stay dead," said Bulma angrily.
Oolong looked offended. "NO, that's not what I meant. I figured it would be easier. Besides, we can always wish Goku back next time."
Erza cracked her knuckles. "Mira, if we ever meet this piglet. Remember me to give it a good punishment."
The takeover mage giggled at Erza's words. "Sure thing."
"Oh that poor piggy," thought Gray and Natsu sadly.
"You have requested an impossible wish. I was created by the guardian of Earth, Kami. I cannot grant a wish that exceeds his power."
"Mmm, so there are limitations on these dragon balls," said Marakov with a thoughtful look. "Interesting. But that's probably for the best."
Gildarts nodded. "Yeah, can you imagine? Wishing orbs with no limitations whatsoever. That sounds dangerous."
Malia chuckled on the inside. "I better not say anything about that. Don't want to spoil too many surprises."
"Well, in that case. Forget about the Saiyans and just bring Goku back."
Everyone smiled at Roshi's words.
"Very well old one. It shall be done."
Shenron roared as his red eyes began to glow.
The screen returned back to Gohan and Piccolo. The lightning began to turn even fiercer than before.
"It seems Goku's resurrection is underway." Thought Piccolo. The green demon suddenly had a shocked look on his face. "But that can only mean one thing. The Saiyans will arrive on Earth sooner than we expected."
Yeah, you guessed right I'm afraid, said Lucy with a frown.
The screen changed again towards King Kai's planet. Where Goku's halo suddenly disappeared.
"Oh, yes. Your halo has disappeared. That means you're alive."
"Whoohoo," cheered Goku with a smile.
All the mages chuckled at Goku's happy attitude.
"There's no time to lose," said King Kai seriously.
"Right," said Goku.
"Remember, the Saiyans are as evil as they are powerful. Don't underestimate them. You can't let your guard down. Not even for a second."
All the mages nodded in agreement at King Kai's words.
"And try not to end back up here. Next time it's forever," said Gregory.
"I'll do my best. Thanks, Gregory. I know the dragon ball can't bring me back to life twice. So I guess I just have to win."
"That's the spirit, Goku," said Laxus with a grin.
"Hell yeah. Now that's what a real man would say," said Elfman.
"Thanks again for all that you have done for me, King Kai. I'll visit you next time I'm dead. I hope it's not for a while though."
Everyone laughed nervously. "Yes, let's hope that also," said Mira.
"He acts so casually about dying. Sometimes, I get the feeling Goku isn't afraid of anything," said Lucy with a sweatdrop.
Erza chuckled. "That may seem like it at some times. But remember. He was afraid of facing those other Saiyans when he fought Raditz."
Lucy nodded at that. "Yeah, I guess that's true."
"There is nothing wrong with that," said Marakov with a wise voice. "As I said before. Every mage no matter how powerful they are. Experience fear at some point in their lives."
"Couldn't have said it better myself master," said Gildarts with a smile.
Goku said his final goodbyes and ran in the opposite direction where King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory stood. But after a few seconds had passed. You could see Goku returning with incredible speed. The deity and his pets moved out of the way as Goku passed them. And with a high jump, Goku landed back on Snake way.
"Well, there he goes," said Gray with a frown. "Let's hope he makes it on time to safe his friends."
The mages nodded.
King Kai, who was sitting flat on his butt(thanks to a certain Saiyan reckless running) was in awe.
"I wouldn't have believed that someone of his level of strength existed. Or that someone could have such a pure heart without witnessing it with my own eyes. We're not likely to run into anyone like him again."
Erza smiled. "Yes, Goku is one of a kind for sure," she thought.
"Goku is even stronger than you now, isn't he," asked Gregory curious.
King Kai stood up. "Stronger or not. He'll never be able to compete with my comedy. I mean, did you hear those jokes of his? Do they even hold a candle to mine?"
Everyone sweatdropped at that.
"They all were bad," said Gajeel with a snort.
Levi chuckled at her boyfriend's words. "Oh c'mon, not all of them were bad."
Gajeel gave Levi an are you joking look.
Bubbles began clapping at King Kai's performance.
"Oh shut up Bubbles. Just shut up," thought the deity with an embarrassed look.
Lisanna pouted. "You don't have to be so mean towards Bubbles King Kai. He was only trying to cheer you on."
Mira chuckled at her sister's pouting face.
Meanwhile, on snake way. Goku was running back to Earth. And was jumping for joy.
"I still can't believe how light these clothes are. This is awesome. I feel like I really need to concentrate from floating off into space."
"I'm happy you're enjoying your new clothes Goku," said Erza with a worried look. "But you really need to hurry back to Earth. Your friends are counting on you."
Everyone nodded at that.
And just like Goku had heard the scarlet mage. His eyes widened during a mid-jump.
"Wait a sec." He began flying with incredible speed. "This is no time to be goofing off. I've got to hurry," thought Goku with a serious look.
All the mages smiled at that.
"It's almost looked like he had heard you, Erza," said Lucy sly grin.
Erza blushed at the blond's words.
"I can't get over the fact that Goku could increase his speed by this much. He's like a comet," said Gray amazed.
"Yeah, he's like a different person," said Freed with a smile.
They all suddenly heard the storyteller again.
"Even as Goku began his return along the million miles snake way. Elsewhere, the Saiyan's year-long journey across the Galaxy was nearing its end. And the following day. At 11:43 am. Terror descended upon the Earth."
All the mages frowned as they saw how the two pods of Nappa and Vegeta crashed into a huge town. All the people screamed in fear.
"Oh no," said Wendy with a terrifying look. "All those people."
"Dammit, let's just hope that building was empty.
"Wow, what was that," said a middle-aged man with glasses.
"I'm scared," said a woman who was sitting beside the man.
"Oh, that poor woman," said Mira sadly.
A crowd started to form around the two Saiyan pods.
"Did you see that," said a guy towards his friend.
The friend responded. "I don't believe it. It just fell out of the sky. What in the heck is that thing?"
"How am I supposed to know? It came out of nowhere," said his friend in a frightened voice.
"There's one over here too," said a young woman.
"They need to get out of there," said Lucy in an urgent voice. "They don't stand a chance against those brutes."
"Yeah, that's true. But remember. They don't know that," said Laxus with a frown.
Erza clenched her fists in frustration. "I feel so powerless. There's nothing I can do to stop it. Since it's only just a memory."
The space pods began to open. And not soon after, Vegeta and Nappa climbed out of it.
Natsu gritted his teeth. "They finally arrived, huh?"
His rival nodded. "Yeah, looks like it."
The screen began to show images of Z-fighters. Who by the looks on their faces. Could feel their enemy's presence.
"Well, it seems the Saiyans are here," said Piccolo with a frown.
"And they're stronger than we are, aren't they," said Gohan a bit scared.
"Gohan," thought Mira worriedly. "Be strong little one"
As the two Saiyans began to levitate out of the crater. The screen began to show the shocked looks of Tien and Chiaotzu.
The little boy began to tremble. "Tien, I'm scared."
"Dammit, they aren't supposed to be here yet. There a month early."
"Poor Chiaotzu," said Juvia with a sad look.
The screen changed again towards Snake way. Where Goku was traveling with incredible speed.
"The Saiyans ought to be getting there right now. I've gotta hurry. Hold on guys, I'm coming."
"You can do it Goku," thought Erza.
"This isn't looking good," said Bickslow with a frown. "Goku still has a long way to go before he arrives at the check-in station."
Evergreen nodded. "And if he keeps traveling at this pace. He will eventually run out of stamina. He needs to conserve his energy right now."
Gildarts frowned. "Maybe so. But, the only thing on his mind right now is getting there in time to save his friends."
Marakov nodded. "Yes, you're right. And although that's a noble thing to do. I'm afraid when he reach his goal. He will be completely worn out."
Gray clenched his fists. "In other words, he won't have enough strength left to face those Saiyans."
Every mage frowned sadly.
Malia chuckled. "Don't worry about that. Goku will be in top condition when he fights the Saiyans. Thanks to the Sage Korin and his Senzu beans."
Everyone looked confused.
"Senzu beans," said Lucy confused. "What could beans possibly do to help Goku?"
"These Senzu beans are not your typical type of beans. They have magical properties that restore the consumer's wounds and strength. Also, consuming one bean keeps your stomach full for ten full days."
The mages were dumbfounded. Flying clouds, wish-granting orbs, and now magical beans that restore your wounds and strength? Not to mention keeping you full for ten days? Goku's world was truly something else.
"That's amazing," said Wendy with a smile.
Natsu smirked. "So that means Goku will be at full power when he reaches the Earth. Those Saiyan's won't know what hit them."
Marakov nodded with a smile. "Yes, at least he has a fighting chance."
The screen changed again towards the two evil Saiyans who landed in front of the scared crowd with evil intentions in their eyes.
The storyteller could be heard again in the background.
"At long last. The day of reckoning has come. The Saiyans have arrived. The fight for the survival of Earth begins. Next time."
"Oh, man," said Natsu excitedly. "I can't wait to see what happens next."
"Yeah, you and me both Salamander," said Gajeel with a grin.
"Well, you won't have to wait long. We will be reacting momentarily after you guys had some food and some rest."
They all nodded and went towards the dining hall.
