Chapter 2

Herman staked out the Ruby Corp. warehouse for the rest of the week. He parked his car a mile down the road and walked through the brush to the back of the building. He set up a camera with a lens looking around the corner and recorded various types of delivery trucks coming and going each day.

Fresh food arrived early, at six a.m. every morning. They transferred the food directly to the Ruby Corp truck; it would take off, be gone for about two hours, and return empty. He assumed the perishables being delivered were for the research facility. With the daily amount of eatables, Herman calculated that a few hundred people must live at the facility. Many materials were also regularly delivered: construction, scientific, medical, office, etc. It was a busy place.

He discovered that they stored other Ruby Corp business trucks inside the warehouse. One day, a purple Land Rover drove up, and four people got out and punched in a code to open the front door. A little later, one of the other garage doors opened, and a Ruby Landscaping Chevy van drove out, towing a trailer with landscaping equipment.

On another day, two women drove up, entered the building, and emerged with a magnetic sign that they placed on the side of their SUV. It read Ruby Maid Service. There was also a Ruby Construction Company, Ruby Computer Services, and a Ruby HVAC Service.

They organized everything through the Santa Margarita Canyon facility. Why would a research establishment have all these different types of businesses coming out of this one location?

He decided to discover as much as possible about this Santa Margarita Canyon facility. He purchased camouflage clothing and a camo tent. He ordered high-powered binoculars, a telescope, and a night vision scope. He already owned an excellent still camera and video camera.

After acquiring all the items, he drove as close as he dared, parked in a hidden location behind two massive boulders, pulled his large backpack containing his equipment and camping items, planning for a few days of exploration, and started hiking toward the Santa Margarita Canyon.

He had been an Eagle Scout and had won his badge in navigation using maps and a compass. Reaching the Ruby Corporation ten-foot chain-link fence took him several hours. He followed the barrier west and used the binoculars to search for any buildings. He followed the paved road with the binoculars and the Ruby truck as far as possible, but the vehicle disappeared behind a hill. He couldn't determine where it went from the fence. He hiked to a higher location and further west.

At last, he detected a glint of light from the bottom of the valley. He went a little higher and set up the telescope. He detected several buildings and even what appeared to be a housing project under construction. One of the buildings was five stories high. The facility contained a pool with lounge chairs around it, a basketball court, a tennis court, and a baseball field. A whole community lived here.

A second ten-foot chain-link fence surrounded the community with another gate. Outside the inner fence, an enormous excavation was in progress. The hole that was being dug must have been multiple levels deep. But the weird thing was that no cranes or excavators were present, just red-suited workers everywhere.

It was becoming dark and getting hard to see. He set up the small, camouflaged pup tent and continued to surveil the facility. Lights around the compound could be seen through the building's windows. No power cables were visible extending into the compound. However, several unusual solar panels were on the most prominent roof. This must be where the power came from.

He attached the night vision scope to the telescope to observe the compound that night. An orb floated from behind a hill near him. It was so bright that with the night vision scope on the telescope, it almost blinded him. The orb was about seven feet in diameter. It landed in the courtyard and disappeared.

A man in a strange suit with a cape walked away from where the orb landed. He couldn't tell the actual color, but it reminded him of what the flying, red-suited man wore that he saw when he was little. Oh, my God, they were real. He scrutinized the compound all night, but nothing else arrived. He fell asleep, and when he woke, it was 7 am on a Monday.

He got up and went behind a bush to relieve himself. While performing this personal task, a red-costumed man flew nearby toward the facility. He finished, returned to his hidden location, and recorded the early morning activities of the Ruby Corporation Research Facility. Red-outfitted people flew in from all over. One flew right over his spot; he could hear the guy on the phone as he moved by. Some were even carrying children with them.

There was a whole community of red-outfitted flying people. It was real. He removed the video camera from its carrying case, hooked it to the telescope, and started recording.

He determined that some of the individuals came in later inside orbs. What was the difference between those who flew with orbs and those who didn't? Some seemed to touch something at their waist. The red suit would disappear, and everyday street clothes would replace it in a flash of light. This was just amazing. Were these all aliens? He didn't see a spaceship anywhere.
