Chapter 7
Herman quickly explained to Ralph, "The green others camouflaged their suits to look red, but there are slight differences, so you must inspect the details to tell that they are wrong." Ralph picked up an energy beam gun. He slid a deactivation rod into his belt, and they headed out the door. Herman likewise slid a deactivation rod into his belt. Ralph telepathically called Eric but received no response.
Ralph said, "I tried to call Eric, but he is not responding. He is either unconscious or dead. Let's hope it is only unconscious."
"Can't you send a telepathic message to everyone that the green others are in the compound?"
'Yes, but this may alarm the green others when everyone starts acting warry. I will turn invisible and go around and warn the appropriate people."
"What about telepathically warning the security team that went into the hills? They could go invisible and sneak back in and capture them."
"Good idea, Herman." Ralph stood, closed his eyes, and sent the telepathic message and information to the security supervisor.
Ralph said, "You stay here and guard the school; I'm heading for the admin building. They are trying to remove the two prisoners in the cells." Herman nodded and found a location undercover where he wasn't easily detected and could spy in multiple directions.
The First turned invisible and moved across the courtyard to the Administration. He noticed Quinn Anders approaching down the walkway and telepathically called to him. Quinn stopped, stood over to the side, and pulled out his phone as if he had received a text message.
Ralph told him, 'Large Green Others are raiding the compound, and I can't reach Eric.' Quinn thought back, "Got it. What do you want to do?'
Ralph answered, 'Follow me.' The two walked around the corner, and Quinn turned invisible. He followed the First, and they both headed for the holding cells.
Percy Meyers and Stephan Turner, the explosives experts in the Large Green Other special forces team, rushed up the stairs, taking them two at a time. They came through the door and entered the fifth-floor hall just as Eric Thornton exited his office and strolled down the hall toward Ralph Hinkley's office.
Eric glanced up and saw two Heroes coming up the hall briskly. Something was wrong with these guys. Then he noticed the deactivation rods in their hands and thought, 'Oh shit, Herman was right.' He turned and started to run down the hall in the opposite direction. Percy pointed the rod at the running Hero and hit him with the purple deactivation beam. The director stumbled and fell to the floor unconscious.
Stephan and Percy picked the Hero up, entered the nearest door, rushed in, and threw him on the floor, not knowing that it was the Hero League Director they had just manhandled. They were in Ralph Hinkley's office, and Judy Wilds jumped up with a yelp as they tossed Eric to the floor.
She didn't have her suit on. Stephan pointed the deactivation rod at her, and the suit ring deactivated, returning to its complete full-size configuration. It crumpled in a pile at Judy's feet. She shook her hand, feeling the instant change like an electrical shock.
Percy opened a door; it was a closet. He pushed Judy inside and pulled the door shut. He heated his hand with his super suit power and melted the door lock, thus preventing it from being released.
Judy banged on the door and yelled, "Let me out." They went to the other door in the front office and entered Ralph's private office. Ralph wasn't there.
They moved down the hall and proceeded to deactivate the suits of every Hero they encountered and placed people without suits or not wearing their suits into closets, melting the door locks. The two found the roof access stairs and ascended to the roof. They removed the explosives and detonators from the small backpacks under their capes and assembled the charges and detonators at strategic locations on the rooftop.
Maurice and the rest of the unit descended the stairs to the basement, where the holding cells were located. Two Hero guards sat at a desk laughing. The alien group walked up, and the guards smiled at them, "Can we help you?"
Maurice smiled and said, "Yes, you can." He pulled out the suit deactivation rod from behind his cape and pushed the button.
One guard went down. The other stood in shock, looking at his friend on the floor. One of the other military force aliens used his deactivation rod on the second guard, and he also went down. They pulled the unconscious guards over to an open cell, tossed them in, and closed the door. It locked automatically. Maurice could hear the scientists yelling in their language from down the hall.
He went to one of the cells and said in their language, "Are you guys done with your vacation?"
"Ha, Ha, aren't you funny. Get us out of here right now." The scientist said in a commanding tone.
Sherman Douglas, the security supervisor, got the telepathic message from the First. He telepathically informed the security team, 'The compound has been invaded; the non-suited guy was right. The invaders have suit deactivation rods and energy beam guns. Everyone, be extra careful not to be hit by one of these rays. Now, turn invisible and move out.'
Sherman ordered five guards to the school area. He told the guards, "They have already tried to take over the schools, probably for hostages. Ensure everyone is okay and set up perimeters to ensure no one can enter." The team took off for the school.
He ordered five guards to the roof of the Administration building. "From there, you can move down the floors and ensure no green others occupy the building. Take them out if you have to." That unit flew up to the roof of the indicated building.
"The rest of you with me." They headed for the Administration building.
