Singularity F: Chapter 1
Singularity F: AD 2004-
You know, if I had known things would go down like this, I might have considered taking a retail job instead.
-Oliver
"Kyu…. Kyuu Fou… Fou… Fou…" Scott's eyes twitch, hearing Fou yapping in his ear and tagging it. When he wakes up, the scent of smoke, alongside. assaults his nostrils. He immediately awoke, sitting straight up. Fou yelped and clung to Scott's shoulder as he arose upon his feet. When his eye adjusted, he saw hell. Buildings were scattered. Some that stood were broken like dead trees. Cars that were smashed, beaten, or turned, as if all of them seemingly tried to flee but failed too. Streets were covered with deep cracks, dirt, and ash. Fires roared in the distance. The city they were in burned as he stepped out from behind the destroyed car.
"Senpai!" Mash calls out to him. Snapping out his thoughts, Scott turned to her. "Mash you're alright, and, uh…" Scott trails off seeing Mash's new outfit. She was wearing skin-tight black and purple armor, carrying a massive shield with her, "What are you wearing and where did you get that shield?" he asks her, confused as all hell.
"... I'll explain later. First, take a look around you, please." Mash told him. Scott looked around and spots that down the street, reanimation skeletons were walking around in a daze. He ducks down along with Mash, with Fou still clinging to his shoulder.
"Enemies." He hissed; his nose twice sniffed the undead. He peeks out from behind the car and counts three of them. They don't seem all that smart, as they bump into things and rattle their bones. Which begs the question–if they were undead, then where was the necromancer(*)?
"How should we go about this Master? Mash ponders, hovering over him and looking at the monster.
Scott turns to her with an eyebrow raised. "Why do you call me that, Mash?"
Mash blinks in confusion. Then she makes as face as she realizes something.
"Sorry, Master, I forgot to tell you," She points at his hand, "I become a Demi-Servant(*) and you are my Master." She then points at his hand. Scott glances down. His eyes widen slightly as red tattoos were on the back of it.
Scott looks at her in surprise, eyes slightly bulging.
"I thought the experiment was a failure," Scott remarks, remembering hearing that Demi-Servants were humans fused with servants' spirits. Mash was one of these experiments and the only partial success. Well, kind of…rumors said the servant that was fused with Mash went quiet and didn't show their powers or wisdom to her.
And now it appears she's gained at least some of it. Somehow.
Mash looks downcast at the remark. Scott flinches as he realizes he probably shouldn't have said that. Before he apologizes, Mash explains to him
"I still don't know of the True Name of the servant, even at the end. He gave me his combat abilities and then vanished. I don't even know whose Heroic Spirit I am…Nor what kind of Noble Phantasm(*) I hold. At this point, there's too much I don't know."
Scott looks at the skeletons, "I don't think we need a Noble Phantasm at this moment. These guys look and smell weak."
"What's the plan, Master?"
"Hit them fast and hard." Scott narrows his eyes. "They don't seem that smart or strong, but I want to get this over and done with, so we get to HQ, and find out what the hell is going on."
Mash nods, "Right, Master." She holds out her shield and is to step out. However, Scott stops her for a second. "Master?" She looks at him quizzically.
"I just want to apologize for saying anything that might hurt your feelings. I'm not… good at this kind of stuff," he says, looking down.
Mash shakes her head, "It's ok, Master! I know I have a long way to go, but will you accept me as your Servant?" Her hand extends toward him.
Scott takes it. "If you'll have this poor excuse of Master," he tells her, smiling a bit, which she returns. With that, they both narrow their eyes and leap out of their hiding spot to attack the skeletons.
"AHHH!" Mash lets out a battle cry as she swings her massive shield at one of the skeletons, smashing it to pieces. The bones scatter across the street. The other two skeletons notice and pull out their swords.
"Gi—GAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" One skeleton strikes its weapon at Mash, who blocks it with her shield and pushes the sword away, leaving the skeleton wide open. Not skipping a beat, she slams the skeleton in the chest with enough force that it breaks apart.
Other skeletons rush with their swords to stab Mash, but Scott stops them. He was using magecraft to grow claws and grab the wrist of the skeleton to make it drop the sword. With his other hand grabs the head, its neck is exposed, and Scott's teeth grow larger and sharper. He sinks his fang into the neck bone of the monster's. Pulling back he rips the head off as torn off the neck bone and pushes the body to Mash.
"Mash!" He shouted, and Mash's lavender eyes darted to him. Without a word, she swings her shield and sends the skeleton's bones to scatter across the street. Scott feels the wind blow past his face from her strike. Just in time, it covers his face from the raging cloud of dust. When it was clear he saw Mash smiling at him but then… her eyes widened.
"Master, look out!" Scott saw a shadow loom over him. A skeleton sneaks up behind him with a sword up.
Shit, shit, SHIT! He panics as everything goes into a slow mode for him. Mash was too far away, but still, she tried to make it. Can he turn quickly enough to rip it to sheds?
No, too quick. Shit. Does he have to use that?
Beads of sweat drip down his face. He doesn't have a choice. He needs to use that or lose his head. Maybe Mash won't notice it. The hair on the back of his neck grew-
Slash!
"GAAAAAAAA!" The skeleton let out a death cry as it was slashed to pieces before fading.
"Huh?" Scott turned around while Mash stopped behind him and looked behind him. Her eyes widen and then she smiles.
"Senpai!" She cried out and Scott relaxed. He got up and turned to his team leader
Susie put away her pocket knife and rushed to Scott's side. "You two are alright?" She asked, checking over him.
"I'm fine," Scott said.
Susie breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank goodness." She turned to Mash and was about to say something, but her eyes widened at her appearunce.
"What on earth happens to you, Mash?" She asked in disbelief.
Mash avoids her gaze on Susie. "I can explain Senpai, but first we should get into contact with the Command Room and I can explain from there.
Susie blinked, "Oh right! Sorry," She said, pulling out her watch and clicking a button, and then a hologram appeared in front of her. Romani's face was one screen who breathed a sigh of relief seeing their faces.
"Right, I finally got through! Hello? This is the Chaldea Command Room? Do you read me?" He shouted.
Susie flinched at the loud noise, "Read loud and…very loud Doctor."
"Sorry," Romani replied sheepishly, "I want to try to get into contact with you or anyone else for a while." There is another beat sound coming from Romani's end, and he looks down at his computer, "Oh I'm getting another call." He clicks on a button and the second window appears revealing Olga, Haelth, and Oliver.
"Huh?! Why are you running the show, Romani? What about Lev? Where's Lev? Put Lev on!" Olga demands.
Romani was taking a back, "Waaaahhhhhhhhhh! D-Director, you're alive? And you're unharmed? What the…" He was cut off by Olga.
"What's that supposed to mean? Where's Lev? What's the head medic doing in charge?" She demanded. Haelth stepped forward and put a hand on Olga's shoulder
"Olga calm down, let Romani talk," Haelth told her.
Olga brushed her side, "Ok, ok," She took in a deep breath, "I need a static report. What's going on and…is that Susie?" Susie straight up with Mash and Scott beside her.
"Yes, this is Susie Hanover, leader of Team B with Scott and a member of Team A Mash." She said to her, "Where is your location Director?" She asked her.
"We are in the northern part of the city. Where are you? And how did you get here?!" Olga asked her.
"On the eastern side, I say." Susie told her, "And I think we all Rayshift when at the Command Room when we were checking if anyone was safe at the Command Room." She explains to her.
"Are there any lard marks where we can meet up?" Olga asked Susie and then she turned to Romani.
"Also I want that static report, Romani!" Olga ordered him.
"Oh right!" Romani snapped his attention and Scott got up on the roof of a car while Romani gave his report, "Currently, the surviving full-time staff of Chaldea is less than twenty people, including me. The reason I'm in charge of operations is that there's no one runked higher than me who survived. Dr. Lev was supervising from the Command Room. There's no way he could survive that blast."
Olga's mouth is gaping and her eyes widen in horror.
"No way—Lev… No, forget that, wait… please wait." She trembles and Scott gulps. Less than 20 people survive.
How?
Why?
Who did this?
Those words race around in Scott's mind. Glancing down at Susie's and Mash's expression they too feel the same way.
Olga snapped back into the leadership role and asked Romani, "Less than 20 survivors? What about the Master candidates...the coffins?"
Romani's face was grim, "...47, all in critical condition, and we're short on medical supplies. We might be able to save a few, but all of them might be—"
Olga cut him off, "Don't be ridiculous! Cryopreserve them immediately. Think about reviving them later. Your top priority is to make sure they don't die!" She orders.
Romani's eyes widened as he stood up.
"I forgot the coffins had those functions! I'll get on it right away!" He hangs up.
"...That surprises me. Cryopreservation without prior consent is a crime Yet you made the decision right away. You put human lives ahead of your reputation as the director." Mash comment.
Olga's eyebrow twitched at that, "Don't be stupid! If they're not dead, I can explain myself later - why else?" Her expression fell a bit and looked so scared, "In the first place, 47 lives… There's no way I can carry that burden! Please don't die… I'm begging you… If only Lev were here!" Susie's heart did go out for the Director. It did, but it was Haelth who tried to comfort her.
"Don't worry I'm sure Romani can save them." Haelth put a hand on Olga's shoulder and brushed her off.
"Don't dare pity me! And where is Umber who is their scout report." As if on cue Umber flew in and landed on Haelth's shoulder.
"I spotted a bridge south of us that crossed the river. What did I miss?" They asked.
Before anyone can answer them Scott replied.
"I see it too," He told them.
Olga nodded, "Then we all meet up there. Don't be late Susie." She said to her and Susie nodded.
"Understood we meet you up there," Susie said, clicking off her watch. Scott climbed down from the roof of the car and run catch up to her
"Let's head out and Mash be a dear scout ahead of us to make sure there is no danger?" She asked her.
"Roger that." Mash took off looking for any threat that might come their way. Once she was out of sight Susie turned to Scott.
"We need to talk," She pulled him to the side with a serious expression, "Overheard a from the income that Melody might also Rayshift with us." She told him, which shocked Scott
Scott looked confused, "I thought they were locked up?"
"I thought so too, but I heard the speakers say they're real name," She told him.
Scott frowns, if Melody was here then they might be in trouble if they do not tell. But if they told Olga then Melody would get into trouble.
"What do you want to do?" He asked her.
"I say we keep an eye out for now." Susie told him, "Don't tell Mash for now but we will look for them before we meet up with Olga. I want to ask them something…"
Unknown to her, a paper shikigami was watching them behind the car. It drifts away in the wind before either one can see it.
Olga clicks off a button on her watch and the hologram disappears. She sighs as Umber lands on Haelth's shoulder. Oliver sticks close to his side as he is still kinda mad that Olga slapped him during a meeting. It's not his fault he was dead tired. It was a long flight!
They were in an abandoned broken suburb where the houses were broken and burned. There are no cars in the streets as they all drive. As if they were running from something.
"Well this is just great," Olga rubbed her temples.
"Ummm…not to sound stupid but what's with Mash's outfit?" He asked them. The two ladies and demons look at him in disbelief.
"Well a Demi-Servant is kinda a new concept," Haelth smiled sheepishly, "Basically, Heroic Spirits(*) used people as vessels." Umber snorted in amusement and Olga rubbed her temples.
"There's more to that, but we don't have time to explain it. We need to move," She anxiously glances around the area, "We're too open here. We need to get to the bridge and regroup with Susie's group." She told them. Haelth, Oliver, and Umber nodded.
Haelth picks up Umber from her shoulder and holds them out with her hand.
"Umber scout ahead to make sure there are no enemies," She told him.
Umber nodded, "As you wish." They took to the air. It was hard to spot them because their black feathers blended into the smoky night sky. But Haelth also seemed to know where they were. She took the lead followed by Olga and Oliver.
Oliver was still confused about what was going on. The bomb, meeting them, it happened so fast. So he caught up to her and asked her a few questions because Olga seemed to be in a mood. Though with everything that happened, he can't blame her.
"What happened to the city? And what is a Servant(*)?" He asked. Haelth blinked in surprise, but before she could answer him Olga did.
"This is why I don't want citizens getting involved," Olga rubs her temples. Oliver jumped in surprise at how quickly she caught up with him.
"Just as I thought. It can't be helped. I'll tell you as we move." She said as the group walked down the street, "Think of a Servant as the highest-runked familiar in the magical world—various historical heroes. Noble acts. Concepts. They're all summoned as spiritual bodies. Whether or not a hero truly existed, he or she is still 'information that was produced on Earth,' right? To summon a Heroic Spirit is to convert the information stored on this planet into something for the good of mankind. People today have the right to use legacies of the past, and with that right, the duty to leave behind a future. Do you see? What you made your contract with is greater than a human, and yet is a tool to serve humans. That's why they're called Servants. Even if they're gods, they exist only to serve their Masters." She explained to him.
Oliver blinked, "Sounds like…slavery." Olga made a face while Haelth laughed.
"That is the quickest way that you can get killed if you treat Servants like they are your slaves. Servants are stronger than people and Magis as well. One spill up, and you can puddle in the ground." Oliver gulped as she made that joke.
Olga smacked her on the back of her head.
"Hey!" She huffed.
"Don't 'hey' me! You freaking him out." She points at Oliver, "You need to think before you speak. We talk about this."
Haelth held up her hands, "In my defense, I thought it was funny."
Olga rolled her eyes, "Whatever."
She turns to him, "I'm only going to say this once, so listen up. Chaldea observes the future through an Earth model called Chaldeans. At the same time, a familiar called Laplace compiles records. You can say it is Laplace's job to gather data on history that wasn't made public and information that was buried in darkness that no one knows. According to Laplace's observations, an unusual Holy Grail War was confirmed in this city in 2004."
"The Holy Grail?" Oliver questions as they walk down the street to what looks like more of a city. They keep away from the burning buildings and stick close to the shadows, "Like the one in the church?" He asked.
Olga shook her head, "No. The one magical chalice that is the root of all magecraft. It grunts any grunt its holder's wishes"
His eyes look at her in shock, "Like True Magic(*) stuff?"
Olga shook her head, "If I want that, but it's a tall order. But back on topic." Olga brings them back to explain the situation.
"Near-Future Observation Lens, Sheba was made by Professor Lev. Well, I guess you can say we both worked on it. Anyway, this is where Servants come from. Seven Servants fought here, and in the end, Saber was victorious. The town wasn't destroyed, and the Servants shouldn't have been noticed by anyone, but… Now this is happening. We should assume that the outcome changed due to the Singularity. The anomaly in 2004 altered human history; as a result, we're no longer able to see 100 years into the future. That's why it's our job to repair this anomaly. Somewhere here is the reason history has been disturbed. Once we analyze and eliminate it, that will complete our mission. All of us will be able to return to the present." She explains to him.
Oliver waved his hands, "Wait! Wait! How can something as history change like that? And what's more, who could have done it?" He asked her.
Olga blinked and her eyebrow twitched.
"… Does the word 'Singularity'(*) mean nothing to you? The singularity we found doesn't exist in any of our observation records. It's like a hole that just appeared out of nowhere. The hole itself is cut off from the proper temporal axis. The 2004 singularity exists apart from the past and future. There's no need to connect it to our present. It's more stable than regular time travel, and whatever happens, the timeline can still repair itself. Singularity F is like a tiny stain on the dress that is human history. It ruins beauty just by its presence. Your job is to extract it. That's what will return humanity to its proper, observed course of history." She told him.
"Also we don't know who's behind it." Haelth adds, "But we hope after finding clues what causing this."
Suddenly Haelth looked at the distance and her body language was teased. Olga and Oliver took notice and scanned the before them.
"W-what is it?" Olga asked, cowardly. Haelth looked in her head, there were cars down–she saw nothing yet.
"I thin-"
"GuOOOOOOO!" Skeletons rush out of the shadows with swords glittering in firelight.
"AAAAHHHH!" Olga screams and hides behind Oilver, "Kill it! Kill it!"
"Umm! Um!" Oliver looks around for the weapon while Haelth holds up her arm using the other one to hold it steady and the other to keep it steady. Sparks dance on her fingertips and a bolt of lightning hits one skeleton. There was a flash and turned ash leaving behind armor and its sword.
The rest of the monsters didn't care that their fellow monster was slain and rushed to them. A black blur flew down and kicked the skeleton's body so hard that it shattered. While the other one dodged and headed straight for Haelth. Only for Umbra's form to shift into a snake so big that it swallows it whole.
"LOOK OUT!" Olga screamed and Olga grabbed Oliver to pull him away. His pink eyes widen as a dragger bush passes his head. If Olga hadn't pulled him away he would have lost his eyes.
He lands on his butt, Olga screamed and saw that he lost his balance and the monster was still coming after them. Thinking fast, she held her hand up like Haelth was but instead of lighting it was pure black energy that shot out and destroyed the skeleton.
"You idiot! Keep your balance or you get killed!" She scolds him as she helps him up, "Don't you know any magecraft for attacks?"
Oliver got up and shook his head.
"N-no, I don't know any!" He answers her.
Olga cursed, "Damn it! We need to head back-"
"AAAHHHH!" A scream of pain from Haelth cut off Olga's orders. Oliver watched in fear as the skeleton cut her back. Haelth leaped away before it could take her life. But drips of blood on the ground and a white uniform splash of red on the back. Haelth growled along with Umber. Who melt in the shadows and crawl up on Haelth's leg and then arm to form a shadow claw.
"HIIISSS!" Haelth swung her shadow claw at the skeleton and tore it to pieces. Olga tensed up but Oliver didn't get the warning, got up, and walked over to Haelth.
"Thank god you were he-" He was cut off as Haelth pounced on him. He yells and pushes her back as she snaps her teeth at him. Going for the throat.
What the fuck. He tried to get her to stop by pushing her back and calling out to her.
"Haelth! Stop! What's wrong with you?!" He screamed as she growled. He looks into the curse mage's eyes and sees that wild like an animal. The whites in her eyes started to turn red and her pupils turned into slits.
"ENOUGH!" Olga howled and chained, pulled Haelth away from him, and tied her up, "Control yourself!" The young mage snapped and growled but the chain tightened around until she moved. Olga's face grimaces as she holds the chains. Oliver immediately backed away and rushed to Olga's side.
"What's wrong with her?!" He didn't mean to yell but almost getting attacked by a coworker would do that to you.
Olga sighed as Haelth stopped moving because the chains made it impossible.
"I have to tell you something."
"To begin, Umber isn't just familiar–they are part of Haelth's soul. While it gives Haelth a power boost and takes hits a lot better than normal people she gets… bloodthirsty and feral." Olga explained to Oliver while they rested in what seemed to be a church. Haelth has passed out and Umber is next to her in chains. While bond Olga didn't go near them and kept her distance as she was explaining to Oliver as she set up a Bounded Field(*) by drawing symbols on rocks and causing them to glow.
"So she likes a half-demon?" He asked.
Olga rolled her eyes, "Kinda…but it's more complex with that." She had to explain more but it was Umber who answered his question.
"What the Director said is true." They spoke up causing the other two Magi to look at them, "How souls are bonded, making both human and demon in a way," Their red eyes flicked over to Haelth's form, "While she has some of my powers it comes with bloodlust and rage that goes along with it."
Oliver scanned their faces to see if they were telling the truth but it was hard because of their smokey black humanoid form. But they sound like they're telling the truth but they were a demon. Demon lies, like all the time. So who knows?
"Why didn't I teach her how to control it?" He asked.
Umber laughed, "Now why would I do that?" Their laugh sends chills up Oliver's spine, "It's like wolves being asked to teach their pups to hold back against prey." They narrowed their eyes at him, "Our nature is to kill, and while I did teach her how to hold back I'm still learning about being human myself. In the end, it's all up to her." They let the words sink in.
Oliver didn't know how to help Haelth and judging by Olga's expression neither did she. There was more to this story than what the demon was saying but the young man didn't know how to ask them.
Before he could make an ask Haelth woke up.
"What happens?" Haelth grumbled, rubbing the back of her head.
Olga steps forward, "You lose control again and nearly attack Miller." She stops in front of Haelth. Who gulps looking up at her. There was silence between them as Olga glared down at her while Haelth couldn't look the Director in the eye.
After a while, Olga spoke, "I have to say Haelth I am disappointed in you." Haelth flinches as if she is slapped and Umber almost looks like they wanted to murder Olga for saying that.
Oliver just looks back forward between them. Wondering what happened between them. They have some history with each other as Olga knew all that stuff about Haelth. And Haelth spoke to Olga like they were friends. Before he could ask Haelth looked over at him.
"Sorry, Oliver… I shouldn't have done that. I should've been in more control-" He cut her off by raising his hand.
"Look it's all good. Let's just forget about it." He said. Olga nodded and pulled out a box. She opened it and all chains that wrap around Haelth and Umber get sucked in. Haelth rubbed her wrist and Umber shifted into a raven and landed on Haelth's shoulder. Who smile and search their chin.
"Ok," Olga, pulling out chalk from her pocket, "It's time for you guys to summon a Servant. I make a summon circle."
Haelth nodded, "Sounds like a plan."
Oliver was confused, "Summoning a Servant? How does that work?"
Olga sighed and rubbed her temples while Haelth and Umber looked at him in pity.
"Just let me do my work." She turns to Haelth, "Haelth go explain this to him."
"Righto boss," She said while Olga walked over to an open space and started to draw on the ground. She keeps going at it until she creates some weird sort of design that has a large hexagram in the middle, decorated with a few strange sigils. At the center of it, Olga throws down a handful of colorful prisms that possess an almost ethereal glow.
"Servants are heroes or legends from history or myth. And we are going to summon one." Haelth told him, in an excited tone.
Oliver watches as Olga draws a circle in the ground.
"Ok…But how does it work?" He asked her.
Umber explained, "We using the Leylines(*) to use the Mana(*) of the planet to be used as a fuse and do the heavy lifting to summon a servant." They explain.
While Olga was setting things up Oliver leaned in and whispered to her.
"She taking this better than I thought." Haelth covers her mouth and whispers to him.
"Well she is stressed out so we need to support her," She said looking serious, "She is trying her best given what has happened."
Oliver looks over the white-haired woman and feels bad for her. She can't be older than him and all this just happened to her. The bomb, nearly dying, putting up with him. It's…a lot. But there was something about Haelth's and Olga's actions toward each other that made him raise an eyebrow. They most likely have history but it's muddy or something. Before he can ask, Olga claps her hands.
"Ok it's done," She said as she got up and turned to them. Olga points at Haelth, "Haelth you go first because Miller probably doesn't know what he is doing."
Oliver feels another blow to his pride. Even if she wasn't wrong.
"Righto!" Haelth said, cheerfully and walked to the circle. Olga stepped aside and backed away to give Haelth more room. Haelth holds out her hand and without skipping a beat Umber sweeps it with their talons over the palm of her hand. Blood drips in the center of the circle, causing it to glow. The air picks up and wipes Oliver's and Olga's hair back and forth.
"Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Repeat five times. But destroy each when filled." A blinding white light engulfed the colorful prisms in the center of the circle, morphing together to form a snake. The markings covering it glow in an eerie red light.
Oliver feels his heart pounding at the sight. As the light brightens he covers his eyes. When the light died down he uncovered his eyes and saw a very tall woman where a snake was. She has long purple hair with a blindfold.
"...You have strange preferences. If you require a sacrifice, do feel free to command me as you wish." The woman said.
"Cool," Haelth replied nonchalantly which surprised the Servant and made Olga and Umber facepalm at her nonchalant attitude, "I'm Haelth and you are..?"
"Rider… Medusa(*)," Oliver's eyes widened. He heard the name Medusa as she was a famous monster from Greek myth. A woman with a snake in her hair turns people into stone. He gulps looking over her. While the blindfold was there, she didn't have to. But she didn't have a snake in her hair. Maybe it's a different person?
"Miller," Olga called out to him and that snapped him out of his train of thought, "You're turn."
Oliver gulped as he took Haelth's place in front of the circle. Look around for something sharp as he remembers that Haelth has to cut herself and say a couple of lines to get it working.
He turns to Haelth, "Do you something sharp that can us-AAH!" He yelps as Umber darts forward and scratches his hand.
"Oh, I do," Umber said cheekily and Haelth quickly grabbed them by the neck.
"HUURK!" The demon yelped as Haelth cut off their air supply.
"Bad Umber! Bad," She scolds at the demon before looking over Oliver in concern, "Are you alright?"
"Never better," He hissed through his teeth, "Let's just get this over with." He said holding out his hand like Haelth chant like her.
""Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Fill. Repeat five times. But destroy each when filled." A blinding white light engulfed the colorful prisms in the center of the circle, unlike Haelth the lighting transformed into the form of a bloody leaf before the light intense fire. He had to close his eyes. When he opened up again, he saw a skinned man with long spiky hair and a glowing scar on his chest.
"Saber, Siegfried(*). I have come in response to your summons. Please give me the order."
Dictionary
Necromancer: Using dead body parts in their magecraft. They can make zombies but can't fully bring back someone as that lies with True Magic or Third Magic. Some talk to or even fight spirits.
Demi-Servant: These are conceptual humans who have taken the Saint Graphs of Heroic Spirits into their bodies, functioning as Servants. Making a vessel and depending on the servant or person one can dominate the other.
Noble Phantasm: Noble Phantasms make up part of the existence of Heroic Spirits, the anecdotes about their prowess and weaponry all becoming part of the very "symbol" of their existence. As the "ultimate Mysteries" and embodiment of the heroes, they are trump cards carried by each to be used at an appropriate time.
Heroic Spirits: Heroic Spirits are beings of a higher existence, becoming categorically closer to Elementals than Wraiths. Differing from how Elementals are "power" grunted from using human imagination as a container, they are entirely woven from the ideals of people throughout.
Servant: Servants are Spirits made into special Familiars of the highest runk, referred to as Ghost Liners by the Mage's Association, that are bound to the Master. Typically, Heroic Spirits under most systems, can also sometimes be Divine Spirits, Phantoms, Wraiths, and living people depending on various circumstances.
True Magic: Magic is attained by reaching the Swirl of the Root, but not touching it like those who are said to have disappeared from the World upon touching it. Moreover, to acquire Magic, the Magus must be the very first to travel through a specific path to the Root; even if the same theory and method are used to reach the Root, those who came after the first Magus using a certain path cannot acquire Magic.
Singularity: Singularities are unobservable regions that do not exist within Chaldea's recorded history. It's as if a hole has opened up within the timeline, a hole that is separate from the regular temporal axis. If Human History is thought of as one long scroll, Singularities are like stains that weaken the scroll by contaminating the history around them
Bounded Field: "Bounded Field" originates from Buddhism. The Concept that repels people is something much more basic than Magecraft, a fundamental function of the human brain, so Magecraft is not needed for a place to naturally repel people without the need for external, mysterious powers. Bounded Fields are always something that isolates an area from the outside world, but it has come to represent techniques by which a Magus protects his or her body.
Leylines: Are mana 'veins' cross the globe.
Mana: The meaning of which is approximately the same as that of Polynesian culture, is the greater Magical Energy found in the atmosphere of the world. Mana is the breath of the Planet filling the world and nature.
Medusa: The Gorgon from Greek mythology. Rather than being a regular Heroic Spirit, she is an existence closer to a Divine Spirit, but her actions have made it better to categorize her as an "anti-hero closer to a monster." With her older sisters Stheno and Euryale, they made up the three Gorgon Sisters who inhabited the Shapeless Isle. She was known as the "woman who dominates", an anti-hero who became such due to the dark thoughts of humans. Differing from a couple of other heroes she is said to be one of legends born by the gathering of belief. The legend of Medusa is different from her actual life. She was said to be a half-human, half-god female beast often portrayed in the form of a snake. Originally she was an Earth Goddess. While all originally beautiful women, she and her sisters were hated by Poseidon's wife because of his love for them. Athena, jealous of their beautiful hair, transformed them into demons. Secluding themselves in a lightless temple on the Shapeless Isle, they only attacked humans for a reason. Eventually, as a victim of the gods' unreasonable actions, she was to have her head cut off on their whim. Defeated by Perseus by reflecting her petrification at her with his mirror-like shield, Pegasus, the son of Poseidon, was said to have sprung from the blood of her headless neck.
Siegfried: the Dragon-Blooded Knight and the "Dragon Slayer" who defeated the evil dragon Fafnir with the holy sword Balmung in hand. He is a great national hero of Germany who has many different depictions in the various legends attributed to him. His most famous role is his introductory appearance in the German epic poem of the Middle Ages, the "Nibelungenlied", portrayed as its main character. He is a character in a tragedy that had spread throughout Europe concerning dragon slaying and the Rhinegold, and his character became established with the ancient epic "Nibelungenlied". However, Siegfried is not the main character of the "Nibelungenlied". The real main character is his wife Kriemhild, and this epic is the tale of the most terrible revenge brought upon by her despair and hatred after his death. Siegfried's legend came into existence around the 5-6th Century and had spread to many lands. At nearly the same time as the "Nibelungenlied", the story of the hero Sigurd, the "Völsunga saga", came into existence.
