"I would die for you." He said with the most serious tone she had ever seen on him.
"Yeah, I know that." She'd let out a sigh softening her expression. "Painfully aware."
Kagome stared at his wounds and bloodied silks.
"But would you live for me? Would you stop for one second and realize that I don't need you to bleed for me, I don't need you to prove anything. What I need from you is for you to be happy, to be healthy. I want you to treat yourself the way you treat me. How would you feel if I selflessly took a hit for you? Without considering any other possibility?"
Sesshomaru, who up to this moment was ready to reply and refute her logic, let his face rest.
With a low growl he answered.
"This One would be absolutely furious at you." Unnoticeably his fists whitened at the pressure that came on them with the thought of Kagome getting hurt for his sake.
"And what makes you think I would be fine with that? What makes you think I wouldn't close my fists in rage too?" She watched his porcelain pale bloodied tight knuckles become loose and pink again at the implication. "What makes you think I would like to be the widow of a heroic daiyoukai?"
Her voice rising once again, she was hurt and so unbearably mad at the demonlord's denseness and actions that cruel words left her lips so very sneakily.
"You claim every time you can that you are not your father, yet you are eager to follow his path and become a great skeleton in rusty armor." The last word came out so emphatic she just realized what was said. "Maybe I can put your grave in your son's eye too!" She laughed humorlessly throwing her hands up.
The growl that vibrated through the tiny cave was a small warning of his speed.
"Miko." Sesshomaru's tone was dangerous as the word came through his bared teeth.
The magenta marked scarlet dirtied hands grabbed her arms soiling her once white pristine priestess garments.
Kagome's glossy blue eyes dared to stare back at him in defiance, they would never back down from his glare, they never did.
This time it was her teeth that were bared, he had never seen her so irate.
"What makes you think I could stand to lose you?" The miko's tears broke down as her voice followed that same pattern.
"What makes you think I could live with that guilt?" She was openly sobbing now. "Is it so easy to give yourself up for honor? To leave us behind?" The pleading in her voice painfully obvious.
Sesshomaru's hands slid from her arms and came around her in a tight hug, her figure trembling and fragile stung him deeply.
"Never." The demon stated resting his chin on the top of her head, closing his eyes.
"This is not healthy, Sesshomaru." His name a weak whisper she expelled mid-sobs. "I need you now more than ever."
The lord's amber eyes flew open.
"What did you mean by 'leave us behind'?" The question was almost rhetorical as he picked up the clues she left during the fight.
"You know what I mean." Kagome sniffed loudly as her tears dried slowly.
His embrace became considerably tight.
"I am sorry." The words still sounded alien coming from his mouth.
"We forgive you." She sunk in his arms.
