"Miko." His tone unnerved her.

"Demon." She replied. Two can play this game.

"You cannot possibly be arguing with me about this. You know for a fact I am right." He stood in the doorway as if she was about to escape at any moment, which was nearly impossible by the way she was sitting.

Her frown became deeper and deeper as he insisted, her arms crossed so tightly he could swear she was holding back and was nearly combusting in rage.

This won't do.

"Your heart is beating too fast. This is not good for you or-" Kagome cut him off before he could even finish his sentence.

"Well, excuse me for wanting to help and be useful. Nothing is going to happen, why don't you trust me?" Her blue eyes turned away from him, clearly hurt.

Sesshomaru sighted approaching her, he had to fall for the most stubborn miko to ever walk this land.

"You know that is not true, Kagome." He spelled her name in the softest of ways, a side only she was allowed to see. The demon crouched before her and rested his hands on her tights. "You also know you are not on your best judgment at this moment and it is not your fault." His hands caressed her thighs in a soothing movement.

"I know." She muttered quietly. Kagome knew she was being unreasonable and she knew the demon was only thinking about her welfare but damn, she couldn't help but feel caged and it annoyed the living hell out of her.

"So?" He needed to hear from her lips.

"I love you but for fuck's sake you're testing me." She snapped at him, her eyes moist with the turmoil of going through such a vast range of emotions in such a short period of time.

Sesshomaru didn't even flinch at her fit, he was growing accustomed to this new phase and fate permitted, it was going to happen a few times yet.

"I'm sorry." She said almost immediately, her hands went to the sides of his face quickly. Kagome was beginning to recognize her own bursts of mood. "I'm such a mess."

He stayed in the same crouching position, just listening to her talk.

"I just keep thinking how useless and lazy I'm getting, there's so much to be done in a short period of time, I'm worried something will happen and delay us, you know with the luck we have a meteor could hit this village or a youkai could attack I don-" She only stopped talking to breathe again, which made her realized she was pouring out a stream of endless anxious

possibly way too far-fetched scenarios that were in the very least improbable. Kagome sighed heavily then.

"I don't know what's happening but my brain feels like it's a smushed baked potato."

Her thumbs made soft movements on his magenta markings taking in his warm loving gaze.

"How can you put up with me?" Her sagged shoulders made her look so exhausted.

His lips curved ever so slightly. An authentic Sesshomaru smile.

"It is of no consequence." The demonlord clawed hand reached for her swollen belly. "You are not to be blamed." The heat of his hand reached her skin through the clothes.

"Man, this kid better be cute." She added in a jokingly annoyed tone.

His amused chuckle vibrated through her filling her chest with warmth and in that moment her belly reached back, his startled hand retreated as if afraid of hurting the being growing inside her.

"I think you woke him." Kagome beamed, her tearful blue eyes watched his wide amber ones.

Sesshomaru's hand carefully touched her stomach again, their child couldn't stop kicking now and it filled him with a pride no victory or title could possibly compare with.

They sat in silence feeling the evidence of the relationship they built with such dedication give the first signs of life.
