A/N: Hey guys I hope you are all enjoying the story so far. I'm working on the third chapter now. Sorry if there are some typos, the software that I write in doesn't really merge well with the Fanfic site so I have to look over it once its published. Also any feedback you may have would be awesome. Thanks

Chapter 2 Nightfall
It took almost 15 minutes to get to my new "house". It was true it was an old StoneTech warehouse that I had renovated to be a loft apartment to suit my needs. The building was adjacent to a river and it had a dock, though I wouldn't really use it. I hit the garage door button that had been placed in my car. The large metal door opened up to reveal the garage area of the space. I took some inspiration from some large shop houses that I had seen online. I wanted a space that I could tinker and make material deliveries easier to haul in. Most of my free time would be spent in this new shop area. I would have to look up some R&D projects so I wouldn't lose my mind in this dull town.
Trish had been right, all my stuff, well everything that I wanted to take with me was in place. Trish took it upon herself to furnish the space with pieces that suited my style. There was a dark leather L-shaped sectional in what was the mainroom of the house. There was an accompanying obsidian coffee table. I glanced over to the kitchen area. I wondered if Trish had taken it upon herself to stock the fridge. I went to the new stainless steel refrigerator and opened it, and sure enough Trish had it stocked with my favorites. I smiled to myself. I grabbed a water and walked up to the bedroom loft. The king size bed was in the middle of the room. There was a large painting above the wall that the bed was up against. The painting was one of my favorites, a Jackson Pollock I had acquired a few years back. It reminded me of order within chaos. I sighed after realizing I had been lost in thought for more than 10 minutes. I went to the master bath I had installed and decided to take a hot shower to relax, it had been a rather busy day. I had only been in the state of Washington for only about 14 hours at this point. As the water hit me I couldn't stop thinking about how that redhead, Edith, acted in our Biology class. I couldn't understand why she had acted so crude. It made no sense the girl didn't know me and had know idea about anything of my past or who I was besides what the tabloids would decide to run in their ridiculous articles, more for the clickbait than actual truth. They would often paint me a rich playboy that liked to party and spend my time in clubs. I was known to party from time to time. My age didn't matter, with my connections i d didn't matter and a bribe here and there never hurt.
I finished my shower and stared at myself in the mirror. I saw myself and I looked just like I had yesterday and the day before that. My face was still rough with my facial stubble. My dark brown hair was longer than I normally kept it, almost covering my viridian eyes. I looked down at my scarred and tattooed chest. Each scar told a story, as did each tattoo. Most of the tattoos had some kind of purpose like the crest symbol that lay above my heart, to symbolize my rank and commitment to the Order. I wasn't self conscious of my scars or tattoos. For the most part most people wouldn't ask but would stare at them. When I was asked about them I would say a motorcycle accident or some ridiculous act that they would believe, thanks to the persona that the media had created dangerous hobbies were right up my alley.
I went into the room and put on some joggers and a charcoal grey long sleeve shirt and decided to work on the computer system that would help to operate the house and assist me with whatever projects I decided to do while I was stuck here for two years. I didn't trust any of the I T department with my personal servers, so I was the one that would install the equipment and get the software running then import the base file that would build itself. I call the program TAV. It was an acronym for Tactical, Artificial, Virtualization. It was an A I program that was self learning and could perform multiple operations both digital and physical. TAV was basically an advanced Alexa system. It would take TAV about a week to fully interface with the system, meaning glitches here and there and no full scale projects until sometime next week.
As I put the final bits of code in, that redhead kept dancing in and out of my thoughts. Dammit why was this happening. This girl was nothing to me, and she obviously didn't like me for some unknown reason. As I thought about it more I started to analyze the girl and her family. I had never seen anyone that pale before. They were adopted so a biological illness wouldn't make any sense. Mikayla had mentioned that they were previously from Alaska, maybe that's why they were all so pale. But something still wasn't right about them. They just seemed so perfect. They looked like they had been painted into this place by the world's best portraitist.
I shook my head. Why was I even worrying about this and these people? They weren't of any importance so why did it matter. I knew I would soon grow bored with this train of thought as I would this place. Though the latter was probably the most likely to happen first.
After an hour and half TAV was going to start booting up. I checked the time and it was about 7:39 pm and I decided it was time for dinner. I was just about to settle for a frozen pizza when the doorbell rang. Who would be here, I was new to the town and didn't know anyone,
I answered the door and there was a kid that I recognized from school today. He was dressed in a shirt that indicated he worked for a restaurant and he had a paper bag in his hands. I pulled a fifty dollar bill out of my pocket. "Here, keep the change." I took the bag and the kid's face lit up when he realized what the bill was. "Thanks man." The kid said with enthusiasm. "No problem." I said as I shut the door. I walked over to the couch and put the paper bag down on the coffee table. I could tell it was a warm meal. Right as I began to open the bag my phone went off.
It was a text message from Trish.
"Jax I hoped you had an ok day. I know this isn't ideal but you will get through it and be able to go back. In the meantime just go with it. Have some fun. A perk of being in this small town there isn't much press, so you can have somewhat of a normal experience. Anyways I ordered you your favorite, a philly steak without peppers and some onion rings. Hopefully this place has good food, it was the only diner in the town lol. Talk to you later. -Trish"
I smiled. Trish really was the best
"Thanks Trish I appreciate it. -Jaxon"
I opened the bag and started to eat the sandwich and it was really good. Almost as good as the one I would get from this hole in the wall back home. At that thought I started to think about home and I decided it wasn't a good use of my time to dwell on something out of my control.
I sighed and ate the rest of my sandwich. I turned the television on and watched a Raiders game before deciding to call it a night.
I slept restless like I do most nights. I don't dream much but I kept getting this cold feeling that would wake me up. My alarm finally went off at five a m. School didn't start until 8 so I had about two hours to get my routine back on track.
I went downstairs and went to the weight equipment that I had ordered to be installed. I did a chest and back workout and ended the workout with a run. I decided to run outside. The warehouse backed up next to the river and to no surprise the endless forest as well. I ran in the fenced in compound that made up this property. There were two other warehouses that I would figure out something to do with eventually. The air was cold and to my surprise it wasn't raining but the clouds still blocked out the sky. It was almost dawn. I finished my run after fifteen minutes and went back inside to shower and get dressed for school.
Instead of moving all my clothes, Trish just bought me a new wardrobe that would suit my taste. I mostly wore dark colored clothes. I found some faded black jeans and put on a grey t-shirt with a dark grey button up shirt to wear over it. I also put on a pair of brown laced up boots. I figured the boots would keep my feet dry better than sneakers would. I decided to wear a Patek Philippe watch with a brown leather band to match my boots and belt. I was aiming for subtle and less flashy.
I went down to the kitchen to eat something for breakfast. I ended up eating some fruit that was in the fridge. I checked TAV's upgrading progress. It would take till about the time I would return home for the program to be in its base function to operate. I checked my company email and there was nothing new. I also went into the StoneTech servers to find a project that I might take from the R & D department. I saw the blueprint for a new type of drone that created a swarm cloud. I had many ideas about this. I sent the team working on this an email to send me the prototypes and notes.
I checked the weather before leaving, though I knew it was going to rain all day everyday. I checked the time. It was 7:37 a m. It was about time for me to be leaving for school. I walked over to the garage area of the space. I had selected to bring 12 vehicles with me from New York. Two were project cars that I was tinkering with. 4 were classics. I had my street bike here and my Harley. Of course there was the McLaren that I had driven the previous day. That left my Mercedes-AMG, a corvette stingray and a Huracán. Most of these cars were a little flashy to drive to school. I might do it every once and a while but they were mainly here just for me to have fun with. I decided on the AMG, it was a little more subtle but would still draw a small crowd at this high school. I grabbed the key and my bag and started my drive to school.
The drive was rather relaxing and the forest was starting to grow on me. I was a little anxious about this second day. For one I doubted if anyone would mellow out about going to school with me. That would take some time and it would be annoying to have to endure it but it was possible. I was also thinking about if Edith was going to be in that mood she had been yesterday. I would soon find out. I pulled into the parking lot at 8:50.
I grabbed my bag and the rain jacket that I would have to carry with me everywhere here. I was determined to be the first person in that class just to prove to Mrs Mason that I was punctual. But as soon as I got out of my car McKayla and three other girls surrounded me. They had ambushed me with selfies and useless chatter. I was polite but this was annoying and I hoped this didn't become a pattern. I made it to class with five minutes to spare. Mrs Mason greeted me kindly and I nodded to her. There were copies of Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens on the desks. We were going to be reading this story and breaking it down into different interpretations based on our own viewpoints. This exercise was meant to develop personal reflection and the ability to examine hidden meanings.
The rest of my day was similar to the previous day. People staring and asking for photos. It was starting to begin to slow down. It wouldn't be normal for a while though. In my trigonometry class the teacher informed me that the class was going to be taking a unit exam. I had the option of not taking it but I wanted to. It was rather easy, it took me all of ten minutes to complete. The rest of the class however took the entire time.
When it was lunch time I sat with the same people. I had brought some fruit from home. Again the students asked me questions. Some like the coolest celebrities I had met or if I had done certain things. I told them the coolest actor I had met was Will Smith and the coolest country that I had been to had to be Saudi Arabia. Most of them just gawked at me for being so nonchalant about it. I wondered to myself how they would react if they knew I had Will's number in my phone. I couldn't help but be amused. Being famous doesn't Make you any different, it just means you have to watch what you do because you are constantly under the public's eye.
I glanced over at the redheads table. Her siblings were all accounted for, but she was missing. Part of me was relieved that I wouldn't have to deal with her attitude. But another part of me was wondering where she might be. I sighed and returned to the conversation that had migrated to Will's best movies.
The day went by slowly, when the final bell rang I rushed to my car so I wouldn't make a repeat of yesterday. As soon as I got into my car the crowd of car enthusiasts started to gather. I could see the redhead's Volvo from my spot but her blonde brother was driving it. I still didn't have a reason to justify thinking about this girl, why would I care about where she was, I didn't even know her. We were strangers. Was it how she acted towards me. I doubted that, many people acted rude. But this was different. I couldn't get my head around it and was starting to get frustrated with it.
The next two days that passed were almost mirror repeats. I talked to the same people, only the conversation topics differed. People were still freaking out about going to school with me. I did the same thing, sitting in complete boredom. The teachers only called on me a few times. I always gave the right answer to whatever question they had asked. In fact Mrs Varner, my trigonometry teacher stopped calling on me after she called on me to do a problem on the white board. I had done the problem in my head as I walked to the front of the room to the board. I wrote the answer on the board and turned around. She stopped me before I got back to my seat. "Mr Stone, can you explain how you came to this answer?" I sighed and explained to her how I came to my answer. Her mouth fell open as I explained how I came to the solution. It became obvious to me that she wasn't able to solve math problems in her head like I did. It was easy for me, math was just another language and had outcomes that were either right or wrong. This math class was supposed to be an advanced level but the information being taught was stuff I had learned when I was eleven. Since then she stopped calling on me to answer questions.
Like the second day the redhead, Edith was absent. Everyday I would glance over at her sibling's table. I would think about her. I was growing increasingly frustrated day by day because I couldn't stop thinking about her. I kept yelling at myself in my head that this was ridiculous, she's just a nobody.
But then on Friday things changed.
