Chapter 6 - Bella POV

When I opened my eyes, I was surprised to see that Jasper was still beside me. But yet he wasn't. His clothes were different, meaning that he'd left at some point during the night to most likely go hunt. So he clearly took a shower when he came back. Most likely because he didn't want me to get freaked out if there was any blood on his clothes. Even though Jasper and I had talked some the night before I knew that we needed to talk some more. Char had been worried about him and there was clearly a reason, but what was it?

Lifting my eyes slowly, I could see that Jasper was reading. I found myself intrigued by wanting to know more about my…mate. Once he realized that I was awake, he close his book sitting it beside him on the nightstand. Then he turned to look at me. "Good morning." He said.

"Good morning. Did you hunt last night?" I asked him, sitting up.

He nodded. "I did. I didn't want to chance bloodlust especially since it'd been a while since I last hunted." Jasper said.

Leaning against the headboard, I reached over and grabbed Jasper's hand, "Jasper, what happened?" I asked him. He sighed and ran a hand over his face. I quickly climbed into his lap so that I was straddling him and cupped his face with my hands. "Please tell me Jasper."

"Carlisle helped Edward and Alice keep you away from me." Jasper told me.

"What?" I said, leaning back in disbelief. "That can't be right."

"I'm sorry Bella. I know that you were fond of Esme and Carlisle but Carlisle is just as bad as Edward." Jasper told me.

"Then what…" I trailed off.

"When I found out what was going on, I confronted Edward first. He obviously denied that anything was going on. I don't think that he or Carlisle knew the full extent of what Alice was doing. But it didn't make things any better. After your birthday, I felt so ashamed of myself. I had never wanted to hurt you, that's when I should have known that you were my true mate. It kills me to hurt you. But it wasn't until after I got here that I found out the extent of everything that had happened. Rose called me. She and Emmett were worried about me. When I told them that I hadn't been able to find you in Forks, they were concerned. That's when they told me what happened after I left." Jasper said.

"And what was that?" I asked.

Jasper let out an unnecessary sigh. "That first day at school, Alice had a vision. She lied to everyone. The vision wasn't that you were Edward's mate. The vision was of you as my mate and Edward's singer. Alice knew that you'd take me from her, that's why she kept us apart." Jasper said.

"Alice and Edward?" I asked, I couldn't believe everything that I had learned in the last 24-hours.

After sitting in silence for a while, Jasper gently squeezed my hand. "Are you okay?" He asked me.

I shrugged. "I don't know. I'm quickly learning that everything that I thought I knew about the Cullen's was a lie." I said.

"I'm sorry Bella." Jasper said.

I shook my head as I looked up at him. "It's not your fault Jasper. Your just as much a victim in this as I am."

He nodded. "Now what?"
