Summary: Ruby Rose and her friends along with a couple enemies sit down and watch the story of Marvel's Daywalker, Blade. Who knows, they might gain new allies along the way. This is a response to Katana of the Blade's challenge to have some of the characters of RWBY react to other Marvel properties besides the MCU. Read her RWBY Watches the MCU fics for more context.
*Chapter 1*: PrologueA young woman was sorting her shelves while humming to herself. She pulled something off of her shelf and looked at it in confusion. "How the hell did that get up there? Set it aside for later." She gave it to a crimson red fox tail with an ashen gray tip that put the object onto a table. The woman was a female kitsune with short fire red hair along with several matching tails and two fox ears on her to match her tails, she was wearing loose black sweatpants and loose grey hoodie. "Now where the hell…?" She jumped as several people landed on her couches. "Andraste's tits! Warn a girl before that happens!" She was holding a hand to her chest as she tried to calm down her beating heart.
She looked at the group that had landed in her viewing theater before groaning. "Right, reactions. Did Katana even send me a text about this or even what films she wants me to handle?" She brought her phone, which was an older iPhone 4 with a badly cracked screen, out and checked it, seeing that she had received several warnings from the Yuki-Onna, who she jokingly calls Frozone, along with the usual text to stop calling her that. "I'll stop calling you that when you stop calling me a Delphox, besides Ninetales is more accurate. Now, what films does she want done? Blade trilogy and X-Men series, huh?"
She shrugged her shoulders. "Haven't done a reaction before, let's see if I've got what it takes." She approached the group of 10 teenagers and three adults. "Welcome everyone to….what in the everloving fucknuggets happened to you four?" She started to greet them before seeing Yang, Neo, Cinder and Ruby's situations. "Hmm?" Her phone went off again as Katana sent her a quick explanation for her. "'Ship happens', really?" She shrugged her shoulders. "Not the first time that's happened and certainly won't be the last." She was about to continue her greeting before stiffening and gaining a very heavy blush as someone was stroking one of her tails. "P-Please stop touching my tail."
Surprisingly the one who was touching her tail was Velvet, who immediately let go upon seeing the Kitsune's blush. "Oh, sorry. They just looked so fluffy that it was hard to resist." Velvet went back to beside her team leader and partner, Coco.
"It's okay, they're really sensitive so just ask before you touch them next time. Now, as I was saying. Welcome to my humble abode." She noticed that there was a new member to the audience. "Oh, it appears we have a new guest with us. Hello, young Emerald. Let me catch you up to speed on what's going on." She snapped her fingers before Neo, Cinder, and Emerald groaned from their sudden headaches.
The vixen chuckled a bit. "Memory magic, gotta love it." She clapped her hands to get their attention. "Now, I know Katana has you watching the MCU but she has challenged that someone handles some other Marvel properties. Luckily, I happen to enjoy two of those properties." She chuckled as she summoned an intricate looking katana. "The Blade trilogy. And a series that I have a feeling you all will enjoy." She carefully sheathed the katana and put it down on its stand before holding her hands close together at an inward angle. They were curious as to why she was doing that until she suddenly clenched her fists and three metallic blades came out from between her fingers on each hand, forming a large X between her fists. "The X-Men franchise."
Ruby's eyes were twinkling from seeing the kitsune's sword and metal claws. "So awesome. Can you teach me how to do that?"
The kitsune chuckled at the little reaper's enthusiasm. "Perhaps, but it will take time as it took me a few years to get it right." The metal claws went back into her arms before she smacked her forehead. "Oh, but where are my manners? For now, call me Skyguard. If you become comfortable with my presence during or after the first film, I might tell you all my first name. Also, I'm a kitsune or fox demon."
Cinder was looking at her palm after seeing what Skyguard had done as she wondered if it was possible to learn more advanced forms of her semblance. "Which are we watching first, Skyguard?"
"Blade. Fair warning though, this trilogy is very bloody so I will have self cleaning buckets ready for anyone that feels squeamish." She used her magic to change her outfit to tan cargo shorts and a black shirt that had a girl in a sailor uniform sitting on a crescent moon. "Much better. Now sit back and relax as we begin one of my favourite films, Blade." She brought up a remote and hit the play button as the lights turned down. "And just think of the food or drink you desire and it will come to you." She had a slice of pizza and some water as the film started.
Weiss looked around as she noticed that they were missing three people. "Wait! Where are Professors Goodwitch and Ozpin and General Ironwood?"
"Oh, Glynda might join us for X-Men. As for Ozpin and Ironwood?" Skyguard shrugged. "To put it simply, I don't trust them. Ozpin basically takes over someone else's body until the person's original personality no longer exists. I mean his next reincarnation was going to be a kid, a fucking kid! Who he would force to run away from his home, from his fucking family without leaving so much as a fucking note!" She was clearly getting angry as Ozpin's actions and choices really pissed her off. "As for Ironwood, he decides to go behind his supposed friends/allies' backs and brings a fucking army to a peaceful celebration which will, instead of bringing happiness, make people panic and attract Grimm thus likely getting dozens if not hundreds of civilians killed. So they will not be joining us at all, but Glynda is a possibility though." She sighed. "Not to mention she shares a voice with a certain badass in black." The group looked at each other in concern as she had a point about Ozpin and the General, they sat back and watched the movie.
*Chapter 2*: Blade: Part 1Holy shit, dudes! Barely over a week and I'm already at 57 faves, 63 follows and 13 reviews!
This means so much to me and I hope I did a good job of making a transcript of the movie and getting the characters' reactions down.
Now, for continuity sake, this takes place just after the prologue for Katana of the Blade's Thor reaction so I won't be making any jokes about the MCU version of Thor being Nora's father.
Review Response:
Batthan the Dark Knight: First off, holy shit, dude! Haven't heard of you in ages, how you been, man? And secondly, good guess.
Dario Soto: Not exactly MCU but it did get the ball rolling for the modern superhero craze and thanks for the tip. Hope I did well.
OmniUIShaggyOverexaggerated: Yup, that's the plan. Thank you for understanding and you never know.
Critical Darling, Shane Ishler, kingofheroes906, : Wait no longer!
Diamondgod77777777, edboy4926, masterbroly: Ask and ye shall receive.
Guest (August 5th): For Ozpin, if he's being forced, why was he afraid of Teams RWBY and JNR finding out the truth. And thank you for agreeing about Ironwood.
Drake G. Reaper: Glad to see another person that likes Blade Trinity.
Guest (August 6th): That's very understandable as I have trouble dealing with gore myself. And yeah, that's going to be tricky as I haven't faced that and don't want to come off as an SJW.
Also for a better idea of what Skyguard looks like, I updated the Cover image. And for her voice, Jennifer Hale aka FemShep.
Welp, with all that said. On with the show! And sorry for any grammatical errors, I'm rather rusty at story writing.
Blake raised an eyebrow at the lack of a Marvel logo like they had seen with Iron Man 1 and 2. "Why didn't Marvel get a logo this time?"
Skyguard fixed her sitting position before answering the cat faunus. "At the time, Marvel wasn't really an established movie studio yet as they only handled comics with most of their non-comic materials being TV specials and of course tv shows that haven't aged that well. Hell, they were constantly making so many outdated decisions that, in 1996, they actually filed for bankruptcy. That's two years before Blade came out. So when New Line Cinema bought the rights to Blade and 20th Century Fox buying the rights to X-Men, there was a small fraction of hope that it would do enough to keep them afloat." She groaned as she stretched a bit. "When Blade premiered, it made over 130 million dollars versus a 45 million dollar budget. With that big of a success, it reinvigorated the production of the X-Men movie and the rest is history. So you can thank Blade for bringing us the MCU."
1967
After the red credits we open up to a hospital before the doors are pushed open and we see medical staff pushing a gurney with a pregnant woman who was bleeding profusely from the neck. "Police found her in the street. Looks like she was bitten. Some kind of an animal."
They quickly brought her to an operating room where one of the staff noticed that the woman's clothes were soaked around her legs. "Jesus. Her water's broken. She's going into uterine contractions. We have to do a C-section." They were trying their damnedest to save the baby, which they thankfully did, but as they took the baby away to be cleaned up the mother sadly died from the blood loss while she was reaching out for her baby.
BLADE
Pyrrha looked slightly shaken at how quick the opening went by. "W-Well, that's one way to grab someone's attention."
Skyguard was smirking as she thought to herself. "You ain't seen nothing yet, Pyrrha."
NOW
We jump ahead 30 years to 1998 Los Angeles as we see a woman driving to somewhere before she glanced down at her passenger's crotch. "What you got down there, little man?"
Her passenger grinned as he thought that he was gonna get laid tonight. "Oh, that's my heat-seeker."
"I'll bet it is." She reached down and squeezed his crotch making him squeal in delight from the feeling while she laughed.
Yang groaned. "Gods, that's such a lame line. 'That's my heat-seeker'. Oum, I can't tell you how many times guys would try to use something along those stupid lines when they tried to get a one night stand with me."
Skyguard chuckled and gestured to her clothes. "Why do you think I dress like this? Less chances to have someone hit on me by showing how much of a geek I am." The girls all gave her a look that said 'Bullshit!' as they looked at her body. "Well, that and I don't dress as provocatively as some of you do."
Velvet looked at some of her underclassmen and nodded in agreement. "She's right, guys. Look at Blake's outfit for example. It looks like you're walking around in just your undergarments."
Weiss raised her arms in relief. "Finally someone says something!"
Yang just shrugged. "I just thought that she was something of an exhibitionist."
Emerald patted the feline faunus's shoulder as Blake was trying to hide away from the world as her embarrassment grew. "Hey, we won't judge you if you are, Blake." She leaned down and whispered in the faunus's ear. "I'm actually something of a nudist since it feels both refreshing and helps me train my semblance." She winked at Blake and giggled when she saw her blush increase after hearing Emerald's little secret.
"So, where we going?"
"It's a surprise, baby."
"Yeah, I like surprises. Yeah." The woman gave him a disgusted look as though she didn't want to even be in his presence. They arrived at a butcher shop and he was following his possible date through the shop's meat freezer. "Whoo. Oh, my God. What the fuck are we doing here? Whoo. Look at all that." He laughs a bit nervously after seeing some meat being hauled away. "What the fuck is that?"
Velvet's eyes widened. "Was that a human corpse?!"
Skyguard raised an eyebrow. "Oh, did I forget to mention that this is an action-horror series? Cause this is an action-horror."
Weiss somehow looked even paler than usual. "Why didn't you mention that earlier?"
"You guys never asked and I did say that there were self-emptying buckets for the squeamish."
Yang shrugged. "She's got us there."
The woman called out to the bouncer. "Hey." Her and the bouncer conversed in a Slavic language, much to the man's confusion.
Penny tilts her head in confusion before looking at Skyguard. "What language was that, Miss Skyguard? It sounded Slavic."
The kitsune chuckled a bit. "Please, just Skyguard, Penny. I'm not that big on formalities. And as for your question." She smirked and spoke with a bit of a British accent while tapping her nose. "Spoilers."
"What did you just say?" She pulled him into a rough kiss before the bouncer opened the door to a secret dance club while smirking. 90's club music was loudly playing over speakers.
Yang was nodding her head to the beat. "Now this is my kind of music. Much better than the modern garbage they play at clubs now."
Ruby groaned a bit and held her head. "What's with all of the crazy flashing, Skyguard?"
She sighed and shook her head. "It was the 90's, they were really experimental with their film editing. Thankfully you won't see that kind of editing after this film." She gave Cinder an aspirin and some water. "If it looks like she's getting worse, give her that and it should help."
Cinder nodded as she had seen Emerald have similar problems. "I'll keep that in mind but give some to Emerald as she gets migraines from stuff like this sometimes." Emerald blushed lightly at Cinder remembering that fact.
Blake held out her hands as she was given an aspirin and some water as well. "I'll handle that, if you're alright with that, Emerald."
Emerald scratched her cheek a bit and tried to look everywhere but Blake. "S-Sure, Blake. I don't mind."
Skyguard smirked at their interactions while sneakily taking a photo of Emerald and Blake before sending the photo to Katana, with the photo was a text saying, "Cat Burglar is a go~ I'm starting to love this job, Frozone." She included the emojis for a black cat and Joker's mask from Persona 5 in the text.
When the man entered he was trying to look cool but was failing miserably. "Wow. Hey, what's up? Oh, man. Whoo! All right. Yeah. Whoo!" He laughed at seeing his date with another woman and grinned. "What's happening?" He grunted as they pushed him away before someone roughly brushed past him while glaring at him. "Hey, man. Fuck. Fuck, I need a drink."
Right as he mentions that, a couple droplets of some red liquid fall onto his left hand. He rubbed his right index finger against it before tasting it. It was blood! Adding to his fears, the clubbers raised their hands before the sprinklers began releasing nothing but fresh blood onto everyone, revealing to him that the entire club was full of vampires. "No. No."
One of the vampires smirked at him and asked him if something was wrong before she hissed at him. He started screaming in terror. "No!" The vampires were growling and hissing at him. "Oh, no." He fell to the floor and quickly crawled away before stopping and looking up at a newcomer to the club. Maybe this man was his savior as all of the vampires started backing up in fear.
"Is that him?"
"Jesus, it's him. It's Blade. It's the Daywalker."
Weiss raised an eyebrow at the name. "Daywalker? Blade? What kind of names are those?"
Skyguard sighed. "It's because he's able to walk in sunlight without dying and he was likely given the name, Blade, by a caretaker."
"But why would they call him the Daywalker….unless…"
Skyguard nodded. "You caught on quick, Weiss. He's a Dhampir."
Yang tilted her head in confusion. "What the hell's a Dhampir?"
This time Blake answered for her. "It's a term used for half-blooded vampires. Which means that the woman who died in the opening was likely his mother." Everyone looked to the kitsune who nodded solemnly.
"Unfortunately, Blake's correct in her assumption. Due to being attacked so late into her pregnancy, it forced her to go into labor and forced Blade to undergo changes to his genes." She noted some of the audience's confusion. "It's explained better in the film but essentially, he has all of their strengths and none of their weaknesses." The audience turned back to the screen as she looked at her right hand while slowly clenching and unclenching it. "None, except for the thirst. Which they will see firsthand soon."
As the vampires backed away we got a full view of Blade the Daywalker. Blade was wearing gloves, body armour, combat boots, military pants and a trenchcoat. All of his clothes were black along with his shades. On his back was a sword and even though he was showing no emotions, it was clear that he was glaring at all of the vampires in the room.
The vampires tried to surround him but he slowly grinned menacingly as he approached them before one of the vampires tried to be brave. "Come on, Daywalker!" He was quickly disposed of thanks to Blade's shotgun, a modified Benelli M3 Super 90. Vampires were screaming as Blade was killing them with ease. The vampires were disintegrating until there was nothing left but ash.
A woman started approaching him. "Hey! I'm gonna rip your fucking head off!" She was promptly kicked in the face and executed before Blade spun and slid his shotgun along the wet floor which tripped a vampire.
Ruby groaned into her hands. "That was a perfectly good shotgun! Why do they always throw away their guns when there's still more bad guys coming?!"
Skyguard smirked. "Well there was a reason for it, which you are about to see." She looked at the audience. "Everyone that uses swords as their main weapon or as part of their style, you might wanna pay attention to this part."
Blake's attention grew as she leaned forward. "So he's finally gonna put that sword of his to use?" The kitsune could only grin as she resumed the film.
A vampire grabs Blade's shoulder only for the fool to be jabbed in the throat, flipped and ultimately killed via a silver stake. He continues killing any vampire stupid enough to attack him while a couple guards try to push past the escaping vampires. "Look out! Hey, out of the way! Get out of there!" The guards and a female vampire started shooting at Blade, only for Blade to bring out his modified MAC-11 and fire back, killing the guards but the woman had escaped.
"Why are you shooting at where she is?! Shoot at where she's going to be!" Coco groaned at Blade's waste of ammo.
Blade killed the DJ before a man came out from behind 20 guards and pointed at Blade with a pocketknife. "That's him! That's him! Get him! Fuck him up! We're gonna jack you up. Make him hurt bad. Whoo!" Blade unsheathed his sword and slowly drew a line in the blood before the guards charged at him. He looked up and cut down the two vampire guards that charged at him before he flipped into a large shower stall.
Blade began slicing up all of the vampires that charged at him before jumping up onto the ledge. The main vampire charged into one of the stall's entryways before stopping in fear as Blade brought out a glaive. Blade gave the vampire a grin which made him duck before three guards rushed in and were about to shoot Blade.
Blade quickly threw the glaive around the stall and caught it with ease just as quickly. Right as he caught it, the guards disintegrated from being decapitated by the silver glaive.
Blake looked at Skyguard. "Was that a glaive?"
She nodded. "Yup."
"Why didn't he just use it earlier?"
"Well…." Skyguard was actually stumped at Blake's question. "Shit, that's actually a good question."
Qrow had a hand on his chin in thought. "Maybe he enjoys the thrill of the hunt and doesn't want it to be over so soon."
The man charged at Blade only to be knocked down by him. The man got up as Blade casually picked up his shotgun. He yelled in agony when Blade bolted his shoulders to the wall. Blade even did a little fist pump while the man was likely cursing the vampire hunter in the Vampiric language.
Blake looked at the screen in surprise. "Why didn't he turn to ash like the others?"
Skyguard double tapped her shoulder. "Non-vital area. Well, that and I think Blade's a bit of a Sadist when it comes to Quinn."
"That's his name?"
"Yup."
Blade approached Quinn as the lone human hid in a corner by the stairs. "Quinn...I'm getting a little tired of chopping you up." Blade brought out a timed explosive. "Thought I might try fire, for a change. Give my regards to Frost." He dropped the explosive which immediately set Quinn aflame and all Quinn could do, was scream in agony.
Their eyes widened in shock in Blade's brutality. Cinder was slightly shaking at the sight of Quinn being burned alive. "O-Oum above. You weren't joking about him being a sadist." She looked at Pyrrha, who was trembling slightly in fear as she glanced back at the Faux-Maiden. "Is that what I would've become? A sadistic Grimm-damned monster."
Unbeknownst to the others, except for Cinder, Skyguard heard her thoughts and mentally replied to Cinder with a somber tone to her voice. "Emphasis on Grimm, young one. You would've lost yourself to Salem's parasite that she attached to your arm. Don't worry though, it was killed while you all were in transport. Though be cautious when speaking to young Nikos after this film. Remember, they know what would've happened if Katana had not intervened."
The human tried to run but Blade stopped him and checked his neck for bites. "No, please. Please don't." Blade quickly left when he heard police show up. The cops had firefighters casually put Quinn's body out while the paramedics checked on the scared human. Unbeknownst to them, Blade was walking away from the crime scene to his car.
"How's that for an opening?" Skyguard looked around and chuckled as she saw that they were all shocked at what they had just seen. "Yeah I had that same reaction when I was six but I'm glad I watched this film." They all looked at her with wide eyes.
"You were how old?!" Winter looked at the fox demoness in shock who just shrugged like it wasn't that big of a deal.
"Six. It was early in the morning and my family was still asleep. I saw the case for the VHS and thought it looked cool so I popped it into the VCR. The funniest thing was that it didn't really scare me. I managed to watch the whole film without my parents knowing for years." (1)
Weiss raised an eyebrow at her. "What's a 'VHS' or even a 'VCR'?"
Skyguard's eyes widened before she looked down as she slowly put her fingers on her temples. Qrow patted her back as her eye twitched. "How the fuck do you not know what a VHS is, Weiss? Christ, I feel old now."
A little while later, Quinn's body was brought into a hospital's morgue by two nurses. "Got a charred cadaver here for you. It's still warm too. One, two, three." They lifted the body bag onto the operating table before opening it up to reveal Quinn's fried corpse.
The medical staff in the morgue, a man named Curtis, recoiled and covered his nose at the god awful stench of fried flesh. "Oh, Jesus, that's rank."
"Paramedics said he was still screaming when they found him, stapled to a wall."
Curtis sighed. "That's very pretty." We cut to a woman, Karen Jenson, overlooking a blood sample that Curtis had given her. "Did you check the chem panel? Blood sugar's three times the norm. Phosphorus and uric acid are off the charts."
Karen looked at him in shock. "You took this off a D.O.A.?"
Ruby tilted her head in confusion at the medical term. "What's a D.O.A.?"
Cinder looked at the girl in her lap. "For bounties or police work, it means 'Dead or Alive'. But for medical terminology, it means 'Dead on Arrival'. So Quinn might actually be dead."
Emerald looked at Blake and smirked. "20 lien says that Quinn's alive somehow and is just playing possum."
Blake grinned at the illusionary thief. "40 lien and the loser has to take the winner to a restaurant of their choosing." She whispered something into Emerald's ear which made the greenette blush crimson before offering her hand.
"Oh you're on." Emerald grinned as she shook Blake's hand while thinking to herself. "Looks like Mercury's wallet is gonna be even lighter than usual if I'm wrong."
"Yeah." Curtis said as he sat beside her.
"But this doesn't make any sense. The red blood cells are biconvex, which is impossible."
"Look at the polys, they're binucleated."
Nora leaned forward for a closer look at the screen before she nodded her head. "They're right. None of that should be possible as it would make it hard for the person to have lived into their 30's, let alone their childhood, since the red blood cells would have trouble flowing through the spleen but we're okay as our red blood cells are normally biconcave so they flow without that much of a problem."
Everyone looked at her in surprise as Skyguard voiced their question. "How in the fu…?"
Nora blushed a bit and nervously scratched her cheek. "I took some medical courses before Ren and I arrived at Beacon. I'm actually still taking them with Professor Goodwitch's permission."
Karen sighed and looked at her watch. "Okay, Curtis, it's 3:00 in the morning…"
"This is not a joke. I've got the body sitting in the morgue right now."
"I thought you promised to give me some distance."
"I just want you to come down and take a look."
"Okay. Show me the body. And I don't wanna hear a word about us."
"Done. We've had that conversation." They left the medical lab and headed to the morgue.
Winter groaned as she had seen this happen many times in the Atlesian military, especially from a certain midget with a superiority complex. "Leave your personal relationships outside of the workplace."
Jaune rubbed his chin in thought. Pyrrha looked at her partner, now new boyfriend, in wonder. "What is it, Jaune?"
Jaune looked at her before looking back at the screen. "Call me crazy, but I think they're giving us a false sense of security."
"How do you mean?"
Jaune just shrugged. "You see it a lot in comics where you believe the civilians or hero is safe, only for the big bad to surprise them and take them down with ease."
Karen looked at the corpse in surprise. "You haven't started on the internal organs yet?"
"No, just a blood sample through the pericardium."
Karen observed Quinn's lower jaw. "The maxilla looks a little deformed. There's some odd muscle structure around the canines."
Curtis grabbed a scalpel before he started cutting open Quinn's chest. "I'm gonna go ahead start the Y and check the tracheal mucosa."
They all looked at Nora who shrugged. "Haven't gotten that far in the course yet. We start on autopsies next month, actually."
Jaune looked at his teammate in concern. "Is that why you seem so tired lately and why Professor Goodwitch has been taking it easy on you for falling asleep in her classes?"
She nodded and rubbed the back of her neck. "Yeah, in a way, she's kinda like the mom I wanted to have while growing up. Strict but caring and knowing when to separate her job from her family time."
Skyguard smiled a bit and quietly summoned Glynda, without notifying the others, before she gave the professor some adoption papers, whispering to her what Nora had said to them. "Just requires your signature and she'll officially be your daughter." Once Glynda signed them, Skyguard sent the papers to the right people before motioning Glynda to join them and gave her the finalized paperwork.
Glynda walked up behind Nora and gently put her hand on the ginger huntress's shoulder causing Nora to look at Glynda in shock. "Is that true, Nora? Do you want me to be your mother?" She smiled softly as Nora nodded nervously before Glynda knelt before her student. "Then I have only one thing to say to you, young lady." She smiled softly at Nora. "Call me, 'mother'." She showed the adoption papers to Nora who teared up when Skyguard said that they were real.
Nora hugged Glynda tightly and cried into her shoulder. "Mama! I-I'll make you p-proud of me."
Glynda hugged her daughter and gently rubbed her back, smiling softly. "You already have made me proud, my little warrior." She looked at the demoness. "Would you be alright if I joined you for these films?"
Skyguard nodded. "Sure, fair warning though. This trilogy is rated 18A back home so there will be swearing and gory scenes." Glynda sat down beside her newly adopted daughter who leaned into her side.
Ruby tilted her head in confusion. "18A?"
Skyguard smacked her forehead. "Oh, that's right. I forgot to mention that, unlike Katana, I'm Canadian."
"Oh, you're from the country that Justin Hammer made fun of in Iron Man 2?"
"That's the one. A little sad I didn't get to join you guys since that's my fave MCU film but this more than makes up for it." She snickered a bit when she remembered Tony's joke during the final fight. "Hammer-roid. Gods, that was a good j-" She stopped what she was saying as she glanced around. "One sec." She gets up and grabs a random boot from her closet before grabbing a sheet of paper along with a pen and writing something.
Cinder raised an eyebrow at demoness. "What on Remnant are you doing?"
"Sending a message." She folded the paper and put it inside the boot. "Boot to the head!" A horizontal portal opened up beside her. She dropped the boot into the portal, which closed after the boot fell through, before getting back to her seat. Everyone was looking at her. "What?"
He looked at her. "Let me ask you something. Honestly. You ever have second thoughts about us?"
Karen sighed. "Sometimes. But then I remember how much of an asshole you were."
"You wanna cut me some slack here? You asked for some time off, I gave you some time off.
"Look, Curtis."
"I'm trying. Really, I am."
"It's over." Quinn shot up and bit Curtis before attacking Karen when she tried to run away. One of the medical staff quickly called security as Karen saw someone approaching her and the reanimated Quinn.
Blake sighed as she gave her money to a smirking Emerald. "Lucky guess."
Weiss looked at them in shock. "How are you not affected by that?"
Blake shrugged. "I've had to deal with my mother, a literal cougar faunus, when she was having an off day. And I've read a lot of books. You do the math."
Emerald just pointed her thumb at Cinder. "Cinder and I have to deal with Mercury on a daily basis and the dumbass thinks that it's a smart idea to keep stealing Cinder's supply of cookies. You do not wanna see Cinder when she sees someone eating her precious cookies." She shuddered.
Yang and Qrow chuckled at that before Qrow spoke up. "Sounds like what we have to deal with when Ruby finds out that her cookies were oatmeal raisin cookies instead of chocolate chip cookies."
Ruby and Cinder raised their fists in anger. "Death to the false cookie!" They looked at each other in shock before looking away with light blushes.
Quinn looked up in surprise at seeing Blade right before Blade decked him. Blade was rightfully pissed off as he didn't have his shades this time. "Came back to finish you off."
Quinn yelled at Blade. "Get out of my way, you freak!" He tried to hit Blade with a fire extinguisher only for his arm to be chopped and land in front of Karen, who looked on in shock as the arm turned to ash.
Security finally arrived and called for them to freeze. Blade turned around only for them to immediately shoot at him, thankfully he had his bulletproof vest on. He looked at them like they were stupid. "Motherfucker, are you out of your damn mind?!" The two security guards fled after Quinn ran away.
Ruby snorted at Blade's response to being shot. "Reminds me of when I tried out those dust rounds with Weiss."
Weiss chuckled a bit as Ruby being flung back from firing the gravity dust was kinda funny. "Well thankfully, you weren't hurt too badly but you were insane for not having Crescent Rose in Scythe mode before firing off that gravity round."
Glynda looked at Ruby in shock. "So that's why I heard Bartholomew complaining about all of his coffee flying out the window last week."
Quinn dove through a window and fell into an ambulance before fleeing like the cockroach he was.
Nora's jaw dropped. "Who puts a morgue that high up in the hospital?!"
Skyguard shrugged. "Not the one where I live, thankfully."
Blade moves towards Karen, who was twitching after being bitten by Quinn. He looked down at her before he started to walk away until he remembered his mother and how he couldn't save her despite being a baby. He picked her up and ran as several cops called out to him before shooting him immediately.
Ruby looked shocked at how quickly the cops were shooting Blade. "Why are they shooting at him? He hasn't done anything!"
Blake sighed. "There are cops that are trigger happy and prefer to shoot first, ask questions either later or never."
Skyguard nodded. "Sadly, she's correct but there are good cops too. It's just that the trigger happy assholes are the ones that people see the most instead of the ones actually doing their damn job."
Blade rushed to the window that Quinn dove through and saw a tarp covering dozens of cardboard boxes. Seeing no other alternative, he threw Karen to the other building and she thankfully landed on the boxes but bounced a bit before she landed onto the cement of the rooftop. Blade looked back when the cops all bursted into the room, he smirked and chuckled at them before jumping to the building and grabbing Karen when he landed.
The cops immediately opened fire on him as he took Karen and ran for cover. Making sure that she could stand, he tried to glance around the corner for an escape route. Karen could barely speak from the pain. "My shoulder...it's dislocated." Blade felt up her left arm before getting a good grip and gave a quick tup. She yelped in pain as Blade quickly gave suppressing fire before grabbing her and escaping through the roof access door. They got through just in time too, as right as they ran a cop started firing an assault rifle at them.
Skyguard looked at her guests. "So, what do you guys think of it so far?"
Nora stretched. "I liked the medical parts. Maybe there's some stuff that I'll learn more about in my classes."
Glynda tapped her chin. "From what I saw, Blade doesn't seem to have that much regard for the safety of others."
Winter chimed in. "His swordsmanship leaves much to be desired, though he does have quite an array of weaponry to dispose of vampires."
Neo nodded in agreement. "I just hope none of them sparkle like a disco ball from being in the sun." Everyone shuddered in disgust as they remembered that trainwreck of a series.
Skyguard sighed in relief that none of them wanted to deal with those sparkly idiots. "Thank gods that it ended years ago. Hmm?" Her phone was going off before she checked to see what the alert was. Her eyes widened in horror. "Oh you've gotta be fucking kidding me! Who asked for that?!" (2)
Blake raised an eyebrow at the kitsune's response. "What? Is the series returning and being shown from his perspective or something?" Skyguard transferred what she was sent from her phone to the main screen. "I was kidding!"
"L-Let's just continue and pretend that it isn't coming back." They all agreed and she resumed the movie.
So, what do you all think? Please leave a review, but no flames and don't constantly ask me to update as that doesn't help me.
(1) - Yup, I actually did this when I was six years old and somehow it didn't scare me.
(2) - Sadly, the Twilight series is returning and will be told from Edward's perspective. This was my exact reaction. Can 2020 just piss off already?
Anyways, sorry it took so long for chapter 2 to come out. I won't have an update schedule in place so that I don't have so much pressure put on me when I write this story and the next one. So the next chapter will be out when it's done.
Stay safe everyone and I'll see you next time.
*Chapter 3*: Blade: Part 2Sorry this took so long, guys. Started a new job so it will be even longer before I can get new chapters out. Thank you so much again for the follows and faves.
Now onto the reviews:
Critical Darling: It's definitely one of the best.
edboy4926: Thanks man.
Batthan the Dark Knight: Thanks man and it will be very interesting indeed.
Chronosign: Yes! Someone else knows it!
Maximum Rhapsody: Are you asking if I'm having them react to other Marvel properties? If so, no, as I am only doing the Blade trilogy and X-Men franchise. And for your idea of RWBY seeing other versions of themselves, I have something in the works but it won't be out until I'm done X-3 The Last Stand. But for MHA, sadly no as I'm not well-versed with the series.
mastergamer14: Persona I know barely anything of. Dark Knight however, very interesting of an idea to have them see Marvel's "rival".
OmniUIShaggyOverexaggerated: Yes it was and yup, he is a Dhampir. Nope, not the new Batman movie but an actual new novel from Meyer that tells the story of the first Twilight book entirely from Edward's POV.
FinchFlyingAce: See, that I didn't know as I lost interest in the show when Yang got framed, watched 4, barely watched 5 and haven't watched it since then. Most of my knowledge comes from other fics so this can be considered more of Emerald flirting with Blake, who is considered a pervert in a lot of fics I've read.
Katana of the Blade: That means a lot from you and I'm glad you approve of what I did for them so far.
jaron delgado: Glad you liked it and sorry if it seemed like I didn't respond to your review, FFN really hates usernames that have dots in them.
Vld: Oh don't worry, I address him in this chapter. And sadly like I told Shaggy, the dumbass has returned and her writing is apparently just as bad.
Blizzard Blood Wolf77 & Jlargent: Weird how we don't get scared from stuff like that until we get older.
Nicdragon8: Holy shit, really!? That's amazing to hear, man! Hearing stuff like this really makes me happy and reinvigorates my writing juices! So glad I got you interested in the Blade trilogy. Did you watch the theatrical or unrated cut of Blade Trinity for your marathon?
Guest (Chapter 1&2 Aug 22): Meh, I'm fine with it. Plus it's a hand-me-down.
EvaShinobiKaiserKnight: Actually Blade is a Dhampir, he's half-Vampire which is a Dhampir.
Now, thankfully I have the next two days off so I should get the next chapter done a bit faster. Anyways, without further delay. Here we go!
Lex chuckled while they heard a faint shout of 'DELPHOX!' when she resumed the film. "Love you too, Frozone."
Blake nodded in appreciation of the silence as Blade drove. "Smart move to avoid using dialogue. Allows the audience to absorb what just happened and think more about the implications of what this could mean."
Blade drove back to his safehouse before he exited his car with a barely conscious Karen. An old man was working on something while he had classic rock playing on the speakers.
Qrow nodded. "Bad Moon Rising. Not a bad choice."
Skyguard smirked. "Glad to see that you were shown some real classics."
Blade called out to the old man. "Whistler. Whistler."
Whistler stopped working on a tool and turned off his music before looking at Blade. "Bringing home strays now?"
Blade brought Karen to a table before laying her down. He looked at Whistler as the old man approached him. "She's been bitten."
"Should've killed her, then."
Neo raised an eyebrow at Whistler's response. "Wow, aren't you a big old ray of sunshine."
Skyguard shook her head. "There's a reason why he said that." Everyone looked at the vixen. "In this universe, being turned into a vampire is a very painful process. You noticed how Curtis was twitching violently after Quinn bit him?"
Winter nodded. "Yes, it almost looked like…" Her eyes widened as she looked at the screen. "Oh dear gods."
Skyguard nodded. "Like he was having a seizure. Your body feels like it's on fire and there's nothing you can do to put out the flames as your body is in too much pain to move." Everyone was shaken up by that revelation. "That's why Whistler said that Blade should've killed her. It was so that she wouldn't have to endure the pain of being changed into a vampire. And from here on out, call me Lex or Lexious." (1)
Blade sighed as he took off his shades. "Yeah, I know...but I didn't." Karen whimpered in pain as Whistler looked down at her before looking at Blade.
"You watch her close. She starts to turn, you finish her off." He turned on a lamp just above Karen. "Or I will." He grabbed something before checking Karen, whose whimpering was getting worse. "She's borderline. Another hour, she'd be well into the change." He looked at her ID badge before grabbing a syringe full of something. "Dr. Karen Jenson, listen close. I'm gonna inject you with allium sativum. Garlic. This is gonna hurt, a lot."
"It was Quinn."
"Frost's little errand boy? You get a lead on him?"
"No."
"Too bad." Whistler injected the garlic into Karen's neck which caused her to let out a grunt of pain. He looked to Blade. "Hold her."
Qrow chuckled at how Blade lazily put his hand on Karen. "Good to know he's taking it seriously."
Blake shook her head. "One of the legends about vampires is that they gain enhanced strength, so he's barely putting his strength on her so that he doesn't accidentally kill her."
"I give her fifty-fifty, if she makes it through the night." Whistler walked away as Karen writhed in pain from the garlic fighting the change to her DNA.
We cut to a man looking through several photos taken from the aftermath of Blade's attack on the night club. This man was a vampire named Dragonetti. He shook his head at the results of the massacre. "Blade, the Daywalker, still pursuing his ridiculous crusade. How many died?"
Another vampire looked at him. "We don't have an exact count. Apparently, he used a lot of silver. We're having difficulty…"
"Send in Frost."
A man was sent to the lobby where a single vampire was waiting. "Deacon Frost. You can come in now." The vampire turned around to reveal a very pale man who took an unlit cigarette from his ear before putting it in his mouth and lighting it.
Emerald groaned. "This guy has the word 'douchebag' written all over him. Hell, he reminds me way too much of Mercury." She looked at Lex pleadingly. "He's not gonna join us, is he?"
To the greenette's relief, Lex shook her head. "Hell no. The guy didn't give two shits about Cinder, he only cared about himself." Emerald nodded as the vixen held her chin in thought before looking at Emerald and Cinder. "Cinder, Emerald. After this movie, we need to talk about something. Ruby will join too due to a certain fire demon's spell." They were confused about what she needed to speak with them about but figured it had to do with their future. (2)
One of the vampires in the room, a vampire Elder, leaned forward and began chewing out Frost for his actions in the vampire tongue. "You are a disgrace to the vampire nation, Frost. If we break the treaty, if we gather in numbers, the human politicians will make our lives very difficult. You would understand this if your blood were pure. Don't we have enough trouble with Blade?"
Cinder held her chin in thought which made Ruby look up at her. "What is it, Cinder?"
Cinder looked at the youngest member of their audience before looking at the screen. "I think, and I might be pulling this out of my ass, but it looks like the vampires have their own version of the council."
Winter looked at the faux maiden in surprise before she thought about it as well. "You may be onto something, Miss Fall."
Ruby cheered a bit. "Yeah, I got myself a smart chair!"
Cinder smirked at Ruby. "Oh, I'm a smart chair, Ruby?" She wiggled her fingers. "Well, can a smart chair do this? Tickle tickle tickle." She began tickling Ruby's sides while the poor girl could do nothing but laugh while trapped in Cinder's tickling clutches as Cinder started to have a genuine smile from hearing her captive's adorable laughter.
Unbeknownst to everyone, except Emerald and Yang, Lex took a video of the cute and lighthearted moment between the two before sending it to her fellow demoness. "Definitely loving this job, Katana." She made a quiet gesture to Yang and Emerald after sending them copies of the video as well before resuming the film when Cinder and Ruby calmed down.
"These nightclubs of yours are dangerous."
Frost looked at the council like he didn't give two shits what they thought as he smoked. "Are they?"
"They draw needless attention to our kind. You know our policy."
Frost smirked like the arrogant shitstain he was. "Your policy, not mine."
Dragonetti glared at Frost. "Our livelihood...depends on our ability to blend in and our discretion."
"Maybe it's time we forgot about discretion." Frost scoffed at how the council was choosing to hide in the shadows. "We should be ruling the humans, not running around making back-alley treaties with them. For fuck's sake, these people are our food, not our allies."
One of the council members glared at him. "You're out of line, Frost."
Frost raised an eyebrow. "Am I? Or maybe I'm just the first to say out loud what we've all been thinking."
Glynda shook her head. "And that, children, is how one starts wars."
Lex looked at her. "Actually it depends on the reasoning, Glynda. Someone like Deacon Frost or Adam Tauros, definitely. But someone like, say, Velvet or Blake? It would be less of power and more of wanting to be accepted and not bullied just because their DNA is different."
Winter nodded. "That is true. But sometimes, those in power let it go to their head, Lexious." She spoke to Lex as if the vixen was younger than her sister.
The kitsune leaned forward as she narrowed her eyes at the woman. "How old do you think I am, Winter?"
"No older than Miss Rose or Miss Polendina, you are no more than a mere child thinking that she is qualified to do more than what the adults tell her to do." She wasn't frightened by the demoness while Qrow's eyes widened as he realized that the soldier had messed up big time.
Lex growled at Winter and showed her teeth while her tails flared up in response as she stood up, her features becoming more feral at Winter's attitude. "I'm old enough to be your great-great Aunt on young Willow's side, young Winter." She noticed that Ruby and Velvet were trying hard to not look scared from her growling and look before she took a deep breath and sighed before glaring at Winter. "You need to learn that just because you have a high-rank in the military, it doesn't mean that you have authority over everyone here. So take that pole out of your ass and try to remember the difference between military life and civilian life."
Some of the audience were shocked at her response to Winter's attitude while Qrow just shook his head before looking at Winter, who was feeling like she was a new recruit all over again. "You were poking an Ursa, Winter."
Lex sat back and took several deep breaths to get back to normal while Glynda and Qrow made mental notes to not piss her off. Lex resumed the film while grumbling to herself. "Fucking got an attitude problem worse than most Turians." (3)
Blake and Velvet looked at each other and raised their eyebrows as they mouthed to each other in confusion. "Turians?"
Dragonetti glared at Frost. "We have existed this way for thousands of years. Who are you to challenge our ways? You're not even a pureblood."
Frost scoffed. "Like it matters."
"I was born a vampire, as was every other member of this house, but, you, Frost, you were merely turned."
"Wow, blood status in a Vampire society? As if Atlas and Jacques weren't bad enough." Weiss looked at the screen in surprise.
Winter looked at her little sister in concern. "He had you stay within that prison when I left, didn't he?" Weiss looked at her sister before hesitantly nodding, Winter hesitantly looked at the vixen as she was worried she might anger her again. "Is there a way to get the evidence needed to have him put away?"
Lex looked at the soldier and tapped her chin as she had a feeling of who Winter was talking about. "I think there is. I'll need to consult with Katana and see if we can get what you girls need to not only put him away but to help Willow divorce the scumbag." She looked up at the Schnee sisters before gesturing to Cinder, Ruby and Emerald. "Come talk to me after this film and after I speak to these three, okay? I can't promise anything but I'll see what we can do."
"The world belongs to us, not the humans. You know that."
Dragonetti brushed off Frost before looking at the other members of the council. "Do we have any other business to discuss?"
The vampire from earlier looked at some papers. "Well, there's the matter of our offshore accounts. We're having difficulty…"
"And have you made the transfer?"
Frost glared at Dragonetti. "Gitano, you may wake up one day and find yourself extinct." Dragonetti nodded as it may happen but he didn't care much for Frost's threatening.
We cut to a medicinal shop as Blade enters. The man running the store looked up at Blade in surprise as Blade picked up a jar full of liquid garlic. The man was a fellow vampire hunter. "You're a week early."
Blade nodded and gave the man a black package before following him to the back. "Yeah. Whistler says I'm building up a resistance to the serum."
Nora looked at the screen in confusion. "Serum? Doesn't he need to…" Her eyes widened. "Oum above, he's trying to battle his instincts, isn't he?" She looked at Lex in concern while the kitsune sadly nodded.
Lex sighed. "What do you all know about vampires?"
Glynda was curious about her daughter's concern over Blade's serum. "That they drink blood to survive and that, if they're not careful, they will turn anyone that they bite."
"Good, that makes this easier to explain. Blade's vampiric instincts create a bloodlust called 'The Thirst' and he has to take a serum to suppress it. But, like Blade said, he's building up a resistance to it so the dosage isn't lasting as long as it usually does."
Nora shook her head as she couldn't imagine something like that happening to her friends or her mom. "Brothers, he's had to become an addict just to stay alive and not lose control to his urges."
"Yeah, I figured that might happen." He sighed as he gave Blade a new bottle of serum before they gave each other a brotherly hug. "You take care, all right?"
Some time later, Karen woke up in a bed within the safehouse. She felt her neck and looked around in confusion as this wasn't her home. She wandered around the room and saw a meditation area before coming to a wall of weapons and a thin sheet covering something. She removed the sheet to reveal Blade's sword.
Lex looked at Ruby. "No Ruby, you are not adding this to anyone's weapons."
The youngest audience member looked at her confusion. "Adding what?"
Karen touched the handle before bringing it back in confusion as the sword's security feature was activated. She tilted her head as a dial slowly rotated until four hidden blades sprang up from the handle making her jump back in shock.
Lex pointed at the screen. "That."
Coco carefully whistled at what just happened. "Nice security feature, Blade."
Lex nodded. "It's a really hands-off approach."
Everyone groaned except for Yang who grinned at seeing a fellow pun maker and made finger guns at her. "Ayyy!"
Blake groaned into her hands. "There's two of them now! Why?!"
Lex dramatically raised her fist. "Nothing can stop the power of puns." She brought it down and shrugged. "Well, that and being a mother to a pun-loving daughter helps too." She smiled softly as she thought of her little girl.
Whistler was putting together the ingredients for Blade's serum. "I must be getting soft in my old age, letting you bring home a stray like that. It was damn stupid of you. You might have lucked out though. I checked her background. Turns out she's a hematologist. She might be useful to us."
Ruby looked at Nora. "What's a hematologist?"
Nora held her chin as she tried to remember. "I believe it's someone that specializes in studying blood. Which would explain why Curtis gave Karen that blood sample earlier."
Blade scoffed. "I doubt it."
Whistler strapped in Blade's wrists to a barbershop seat as Karen snuck around and watched her supposed kidnappers. "I'm serious. I took a look at that notebook of hers. She's on to something. I had to increase the dose. It's over 50 milligrams now. That's getting dangerous."
Nora was taking a drink of water before doing a spit take. "I'm sorry, how much?!"
Weiss looked at her in confusion. "Is that bad?" She started unconsciously protecting her butt when she saw Glynda's unamused expression.
"Is Blade trying to overdose? Because that's how you get to overdosing!" She looked at Weiss before noticing what she was doing. Nora was confused about Weiss's actions before she looked at her mom and saw that she had accidentally hit her with the spit take. She nervously laughed and offered her mother a glass cleaning cloth. "Umm, sorry, Mom."
Glynda took off her glasses and cleaned them up before Lex dried her off with some fire magic. "Next time Nora, be mindful of your surroundings before I have to make you go through Sex Ed." She put her glasses back on but the light hit them just right to hide her eyes. "With Professor Port." All of Beacon's students shuddered at that threat.
Lex, meanwhile, was struggling not to laugh as she thought to herself. "No way in! Now way out! Now way in! No way out!" She struggled even more when she recalled one of the best moments of the Mad King's reign. "'You don't understand, Edgar is the one in the hole!' Gods, do I miss those days. Ray was definitely the best part. Freaking R&R connection for life, dude!" (4)
"Just do it, old man." Blade glared at Whistler after he put a mouthguard in Blade's mouth before holding his hand and injecting him with the serum. Blade's reaction was immediate as his body struggled from pain while Whistler looked away as he hated seeing this happen to someone who was like a son to him.
Nora looked at Lex. "And he goes through that every time he takes his serum." Lex silently nodded at this before Nora looked back at the screen. "Gods help him."
Blade opened his eyes and stared at Karen causing Whistler to realize that she was awake before Karen tried to run away as Whistler gave chase before catching up to her. "Wander off the beaten path, doctor?"
Karen slowly backed away from him. "Who are you people?"
"My name's Abraham Whistler." Blade silently dropped behind her. "You've met Blade."
Yang grinned. "Oooh, he's silent but deadly, huh?" She was met with groans and a cake in the shape of a boot to the head courtesy of Lex. "Et tu, Lexious?"
Lex shook her head. "That pun was bad and you know it, young dragon."
Whistler turned on a gas pump before putting the hose into Blade's car. He haphazardly lit a cigarette.
Glynda raised an eyebrow. "Brothers, and here I thought you were reckless with your drinking, Qrow."
Qrow just chuckled. "No arguments here, Glynda. Glad I'm leaving that life behind me, thanks to Katana."
Lex sent a letter through a portal before looking at the two hunters and nodded at seeing them agreeing for once. "About time you two stopped arguing...or am I mixing up universes again?" She shrugged. "Probably. Still, thanks for doing what you did for Qrow, Katana. Hope she likes her gift." She looks at where Blade's sword once was and had a small smirk as she replaced it with a replica while the real one was being given to her fellow demoness with no one being the wiser.
Karen looked down while Blade put his gear together. "So am I a prisoner here?"
Whistler blew some smoke when he looked at her. "Not at all. We just had to take certain precautions before we let you go. You gotta understand, they're everywhere. Vampires. The Hominis Nocturna. We hunt them, you see. Moving from one city to the next tracking their migrations. They're hard to kill. They tend to regenerate."
"And I'm supposed to believe all this?"
Blade added in his two cents. "Well, you already met Mr. Crispy at the hospital. What do you think?"
Blake and Emerald laughed while Lex snorted at Blade's nickname for Quinn. Yang just grumbled at them laughing at Blade's joke more than hers. "It wasn't that funny, guys." Neo gently patted her head in sympathy.
"So, what do you use, then? Stakes? Crosses?"
Whistler smirked at how naive she was. "Crosses don't do squat."
Blake looked at Lex in surprise and she answered the girl's unspoken question. "It was something that one of the scriptwriters brought up and it was a good question. They said 'What if the vampire was Jewish? Why would the cross work on him?'" (5)
Qrow nodded as that was a good question. "Smart question."
"Some of the legends are true, though." He brought out a large lamp. "Vampires are severely allergic to silver. Feed them garlic, and they go into anaphylactic shock. Then, of course, there's always sunlight, ultraviolet rays." He turned it on and quickly shone it on Karen who only closed her eyes from the sudden light being flashed in her eyes. It was a UV lamp. "I got this sucker running. You wanna give it a try tonight?" He handed it to Blade who just looked at him.
"It's still heavy." Blade said even though he was holding it with ease.
"Well, you're so big." Whistler said jokingly.
Qrow chuckled at that. "I used to say that to Yang when she complained during her weight training at Signal."
Yang smirked and flexed her muscles. "It definitely paid off though." She enjoyed getting an excuse to show off her well earned muscles.
Neo blushed as she actually got a better look at the blonde brawler's toned arms. "I'll say it did. You're starting to make me glad she stopped me from killing you, Yang. Especially with those boobs, that beautiful mane, those buff arms, these muscular legs that go on for..." She blinked at what she just thought. "Wait, am I falling for her?" She looked at Yang's arms again before glancing at her face and immediately looked towards the movie with a heavy blush. "Yup. Neo, you're falling for the brawler with the short temper."
Blade and Karen walked to Blade's car. "If you wanna live to see another day, you'll be out of town by nightfall."
Karen couldn't believe her situation. "So where am I supposed to go?"
Blade looked at her. "You've been exposed to them. One way or another, somebody's gonna take you out."
Whistler walked up to her. "There's a war going on out there. Blade, myself, a few others, we've tried to keep it from spilling over onto the streets. But sometimes, people like yourself get caught in the crossfire." He offered her a coat.
Karen took the coat. "I have blood samples. I can go to the police."
Whistler shook his head. "They own the police. You have to understand, they're everywhere. Chances are you've seen them yourself and didn't know it. On the subway or in a bar."
Everyone looked at the screen in shock at that revelation while Lex just nodded. "Yup, the cops at the club and at the hospital were likely on the vampires' payroll."
"So that's it? You guys just patch me up and send me on my way?"
Whistler handed her something. "Here. Vampire Mace. Silver nitrate, essence of garlic. You keep your eyes open. Be careful. One other thing, buy yourself a gun." He took out another cigarette. "If you start getting sensitive to daylight, if you find you're thirsty, regardless of how much you've had to drink, then I suggest you take that gun and use it on yourself. Better that than the alternative."
Nora held Ren's hand as she remembered how many times he came close to going over the edge, he smiled softly at her and gently placed his forehead against her own. Qrow held his nieces, which coincidentally included Neo and Cinder thanks to their predicaments, and kissed their heads. "I'll always be proud of you two, I know Summer would too. Tai might not say it, but you two are the only reasons he keeps pushing forward with each day." The sisters smiled at their uncle before hugging him back.
Cinder's eyes briefly widened at hearing the name of Ruby's mother. "Ruby is Summer's daughter? Oh gods, the woman who taught me how to fight was my enemy's mother." Cinder felt a fire burning within her as she realized just how badly Salem had tricked her, she unconsciously held Ruby closer and more protectively to herself. "You won't get your hands on her, Salem. I won't let you destroy this family again, you heartless witch!"
We cut to Dragonetti exiting an elevator before heading towards a white room with Frost sitting on the floor listening to some dance music through his earphones. Dragonetti glared at Frost as he slowly approached the younger vampire. "You have been warned before. These archives are restricted to the members of the House of Erebus." He looked at a computer terminal to see that it was translating the book of Erebus, he scoffed at the futile effort. "You are wasting your time. It's a dead language. The ancient texts can never be translated. You wouldn't even understand them." Frost just stared at him while he lost his patience. "Damn it, Frost, I'm talking to you!"
Frost took out his earphones. "Shh. Keep your voice down, Gitano." The music stopped when he turned off his walkman before he stood up. "We're in a library. You don't need to shout."
Dragonetti had enough and smacked Frost hard in anger. "What are you up to, Frost?"
Weiss stiffened and held her cheek. Winter pulled her into a comforting hug. "It's okay, little sister. He won't hurt you. He can't touch you anymore."
Frost sighed and looked at him in defiance. "What are you gonna do, hmm? What?"
"You bore me." Dragonetti left while Frost went back to listening to his music as the program continued to translate.
Cinder's eyes narrowed. "What the hell is he translating that would require him to be there despite Dragonetti's warnings?"
Penny noticed something as the camera zoomed in. "Lexious, can you please pause and go back a couple frames." Lex was confused but complied. "Stop! Look on the right!"
Everyone's eyes widened, even Lex's as her jaw dropped. "Holy shit! I never noticed that before!"
Blake leaned forward, mouthing what was translated before looking at the screen in worry. "It's a prophecy!"
"Talk about a 'blink and you'll miss it' moment. And no, that wasn't a joke."
Later on, Blade and Karen pulled up to an alleyway close to where she lives. As Karen got out Blade rolled down his window and spoke to her. "Remember what we told you. You keep your eyes open. They're everywhere."
Karen was confused as he drove off. "But it's daytime!" She soon entered her apartment building and waited for the elevator. While waiting she noticed a man and woman in front of her had the exact same tattoo on the back of their necks.
Ruby looked at Penny in worry. "Penny, are those the same symbols we saw being translated on the computer?"
Penny nodded. "Unfortunately, Ruby, they are." Ruby's worry increased as Cinder rubbed her back reassuringly.
The ride up the elevator was tense as they were staring at Karen the entire time. As she got off the elevator they followed her while she gave a quick glance and prepared to bring out the mace that Whistler gave her. When a buzzer went off she quickly turned around and aimed the mace, only to see that no one was there.
Karen quickly ran to her apartment and closed the door before checking to see if she had any messages. She was soon packing up as many clothes as possible after changing her out of her previous ones.
A man showed up in her apartment. He greeted her before she started to try to escape as she was rightfully on edge. He tried to calm her down. "I'm sorry. Whoa, whoa! Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. I'm a police officer. I'm sorry, okay? Police officer. I didn't mean to scare you. The front door was open."
Neo narrowed her eyes. "That is bullshit and you know it. We clearly heard her close the door."
Emerald nodded. "She's right, so he's either impersonating a cop or..."
Cinder looked at her. "Or what, Emerald?"
"Or Whistler was right about the vampires owning the cops."
Karen was slowly moving her hand towards the vampire mace. "What are you doing in here?"
"I'm just here on a routine check."
Blake and Velvet scoffed. "Routine check, my ass."
"Look, I'm Officer Krieger, 42nd Precinct. You're Karen Jenson, right?"
"Yeah."
"Your co-workers at the hospital said that you were kidnapped last night. Are you okay?"
"What happened to the other doctor I was with?"
"Curtis Webb, he died. No, look, don't worry about that right now, okay?"
"Why?"
"Because you're dead too, bitch." Krieger immediately tried to pull out his gun only for Karen to spray him with the mace. He groaned from the taste. "Son of a bitch, what is this? What is this, garlic?"
"Yeah, well, he said it would work against vampires."
Krieger scoffed and aimed his gun at her. "Vampires? Who said I was a vampire, huh?"
Thankfully, Blade was right behind him and knocked him down to the ground. "Nobody. He's a familiar. A vampire wannabe. If he's loyal enough, and he proves himself, maybe his master will turn him."
Blake looked at the kitsune. "So those cops who shot at Blade and were so nonchalant about Quinn being on fire were familiars?"
The vixen merely shrugged her shoulders. "It's the most likely scenario."
"What about the two people that were following Karen?"
"Oh, they were definitely familiars."
Karen looked at Blade in anger. "Wait a minute. You used me as bait?"
"Get over it."
Karen couldn't believe how much Blade was beating Krieger up. "Is all that necessary?"
Pyrrha winced. "He doesn't like familiars, does he?"
Lex thought her answer over before speaking to Pyrrha. "It's stated in Blade Trinity that he hates familiars which likely hints that several hunters became familiars and betrayed him in some form or another."
Cinder and Emerald looked at each other as they realized that, in a way, they were Salem's familiars. Cinder looked at Lex. "You said that the Grimm that Salem attached to my arm would take control of me and that I would lose myself to it. Do I lose the Fall Maiden's power in the process?"
"Worse. You crave for more power." Cinder's eyes widened as she realized that she would become addicted to the Maidens' power. "Back home we have a saying, 'Absolute power corrupts absolutely'. Abandon Salem's path of destruction and you will find yourself again, little flame." She gave a motherly look to Cinder as she telepathically spoke to her again. "If I gave you a way for you and Emerald to have a family and be sisters in blood as well, what would you say?"
Cinder eyes began to tear up at the thought of having an actual family. Ruby looked up at her in concern. "What's wrong Cinder?"
Cinder quickly wiped away her tears. "It's nothing, Ruby." She mentally replied to Lexious. "I would say, who would be our mother?"
Lex gave Cinder a soft motherly smile. "That's what we'll talk about after the movie, okay? Don't tell Emerald though, I want to hear her own unbiased opinion on you two having a family."
Blade pulled down the back of Krieger's collar to reveal a mark on the back of his neck similar to the couple that Karen saw earlier. "That's a glyph, a vampire cattle brand. It means Officer Krieger here is somebody's property. Another vampire tries to bleed this little hooker, then they have to answer to his owner." Blade recognized the mark all too well. "Deacon Frost. We've been tracking him for a long time. All right, Officer Krieger, you gonna be a good little bloodhound, huh? Tell us what your master's been up to?" He began searching Krieger's pockets before taking off the familiar's watch.
"Great, now you're robbing him. You gonna rob me too?"
"How do you think that we fund this organization, huh? We're not exactly the March of Dimes." He held the watch and knocked out Krieger. "It's fake." He tossed the watch down to Krieger.
We cut to Blade opening the back of Krieger's cruiser to reveal several blood bags. "Well, looks like our friend here's been blood running."
Karen read the name of where the blood came from. "Hillburn Clinic. I know this place, it's a blood bank."
"Owned by vampires, and there's one in every city. And they always deliver. So where were you taking it?" Krieger tried to act tough but Blade wasn't having it.
"Look, take it easy."
"I'm only gonna ask you one more time. Where were you taking it?"
Krieger scoffed. "Go fuck yourself."
Blade brought out his gun. "Fuck me? No, you suck this." Karen tried to stop Blade from shooting him but it only ended up with her letting Krieger escape, much to Blade's frustration. Blade looked at Karen in anger. "You better wake up. The world you live in is just a sugarcoated topping. There is another world beneath it, the real world. And if you wanna survive it, you'd better learn to pull the trigger."
Emerald slowly clenched her fist with her knuckles cracking loud enough for Blake to hear. The feline faunus gently put her hand on the greenette's and whispered to her. "You okay?"
Emerald looked down. "I don't feel comfortable talking about it. It's something I wanna forget."
"I understand. I won't force you to talk about it, but know that I'm here for you if you need someone to talk to."
Emerald smiled a bit and blushed lightly when she unclenched her fist to gently hold Blake's hand. "Th-Thanks, Blake." Her smile grew a bit more when Blake gave her hand a reassuring squeeze and smiled back.
"You're not alone, Emerald. Not anymore."
Lex looked at the two and had a motherly smile at their interactions before smiling a bit more when she noticed Cinder having a small sisterly smile while looking at the two teens as well. "So Cinder really does look at Emerald like she's her little sister while Emerald was looking for approval from Cinder, who is like a mother or older sister to her." Lex looked at her tails before nodding. "The readers might not approve but I don't care. Neo's got Roman as her brother/father-figure while Cinder and Emerald only have each other. After this movie is done, I'll do for them what Glynda did for Nora. Consequences be damned."
Blade walked to his vehicle but Karen followed him. "Wait a minute. I'm coming with you."
"You're useless."
Karen looked at him as she entered his car. "I have to stick with you. It's the only way that I'll stay alive long enough to find a cure for myself."
Blade put his keys in the ignition. "There is no cure."
The audience looked down solemnly until given a spark of hope when Lex spoke up. "Yet." She smiled softly. "There is no cure yet."
We transition to night as Karen is eating some Chinese take-out while her and Blade wait for Krieger to return. She shook her head. "He's not gonna come back. Nobody's that stupid."
"When you understand the nature of a thing, you know what it's capable of." Sure enough, Krieger returned to his cruiser. Blade grinned at her before he immediately lost it and started his car while Krieger started his.
Krieger drove while not knowing that Blade was following him. He called on the radio. "It's Krieger. I'm at 16-0-0-9."
A man responded "Yes?"
"Get me Pearl."
"Pearl is feeding."
"I got a delivery from Frost here and I just had a run-in with Blade. We've gotta clear out that clinic on Hillburn now."
Ruby groaned badly as she held her head. Cinder gave her the pill of aspirin and helped her drink the water. Ruby gave the older woman a thankful smile. "Th-Thanks, Cinder." She gently leaned back against the faux-maiden who had a light blush.
Cinder gently held Ruby as she mentally admitted that Ruby's smile was too pure for this world. "Don't mention it, Ruby. Just let me know if it gets worse, okay?" Ruby nodded as Cinder gently rubbed her head.
Blade pulled up to a stop in an alley and saw a red symbol. "Looks like we hit pay dirt. That's a vampire mark. It means there's a safe house around here somewhere. A place they can go if dawn is coming. See the valets over there? They're vampires. So is the doorman and the whore on the corner."
Karen looked across the street in surprise. "How can you tell?"
Blade went to his car to grab his gear. "By the way they move. The way they smell."
Blade got her attention before tossing her the UV lamp which she thankfully caught."It's like a bad dream."
"There's worse things out tonight than vampires."
"Like what?"
"Like me." He sheathed his sword.
Blake nodded in approval at how Blade sheathed his sword. "That takes practice to sheath it like that. Took me months to get Gambol Shroud's sheathing just right."
Nora smirked. "Helps that he had a badass line before doing so."
Blake chuckled and smirked back at her friend. "That too."
Weiss looked at Blake. "Think you can teach me how to sheath Myrtenaster like that?" Her team looked at her in surprise which caused her to blush lightly. "J-Just out of curiosity."
Blake nodded. "Sure, Weiss. I can teach you, but it may be a bit trickier since your sword of choice is a rapier."
"I welcome the challenge."
Lex looked at the trio and thought of who to bring in for X-Men. "I wonder how Blake will feel about Ilia joining for the rest of the films we'll be viewing. Would be interesting to get two differing views of the White Fang. Actually that can be perfect since Blake is basically Charles while Ilia is definitely Erik due to the different ways that they've been treated by humans and what they've done in the White Fang. Hope Katana approves." She sent a text to Katana with her idea and asked if she likes her new sword.
Blade and Karen walked toward the vampire safehouse. "Okay, Vampire Anatomy 101. Crosses and running water don't do dick, forget what you've seen in movies. You use a stake, silver, or sunlight. You know how to use one of these?" He handed Karen a Glock 26 loaded with silver bullets.
"No, but I damn sure learn quick."
"Safety's off, round's chambered. Silver hollow-point filled with garlic. Aim for the head or the heart. Anything else is your ass."
The Bouncer stopped them. "Do you have an invitation?" Blade took a deep breath and took off his shades while Karen looked at him.
"Winter, Cinder, Glynda?" The mentioned three looked at Lex in confusion when she paused the movie. "Vanity Fair." They quickly covered Weiss, Ruby, and Penny's eyes respectively while the kitsune snuck several tissue boxes to Blake and Velvet. She spoke quietly enough so that only the two faunus girls could hear her. "Thank me later." She quickly resumed the film.
Blade threw the poor bastard through the door before he and Karen walked into the safehouse. In the club were dozens of Japanese vampires watching two women wearing skimpy schoolgirl outfits that barely hid their panties while waitresses served them in the same outfits as the women on stage. The women on the stage were rapping in Japanese.
The vampires noticed Blade and Karen entering the club until Krieger saw the duo and ran with them following him along with Blade taking out any guards that tried to get in his way. Krieger called out someone named Kenji while he ran. The bartender tried to take out Blade but he was taken out with ease.
"Pepper Potts." The three guardians took their hands away from their charges' eyes. Lex looked at Velvet, who made a little puppy from her tissues but if one looked closely you could see that she had a small amount of blood coming from her nose. Blake on the other hand? She was completely knocked out from what little she saw of the singers' panties while Emerald helped clean up the feline faunus's nosebleed. "Uh, Qrow, could you?"
Qrow chuckled and used his emergency smelling salts to wake up Blake. "Way ahead of you, kiddo."
Lex smirked. "If you didn't have a cool voice I would've been offended at you calling me that." (6)
Blade punched Krieger into the kitchen before Blade started interrogating him. "Where's the entrance?"
Krieger was rightfully scared. "I can't tell you that, man."
Blade threw him into a shelf of cooking dishes. He held Krieger by the ear, painfully. "I'm gonna ask you one more time. Where's the entrance?"
All of the guys and some of the girls held their ears in sympathy. Lex shook her head. "Never think that someone is being too rough on you during an interrogation." She slowly brought up a kunai and gave a creepy smile. "Because we have more ways to play." She giggled creepily before shaking her head and putting the kunai away. "Whoa, maybe I should look into some vacation time."
Neo immediately shot over to Lex with stars in her eyes. "Teach me your ways!" Unfortunately, she forgot that she was still attached to Yang's legs, thus Yang was dragged on the floor after hitting her head on her chair due to Neo's rushing over to the kitsune.
Everyone else looked down at Yang who was groaning. Ruby gently poked her sister with a random stick. "You okay, sis?"
Yang spoke with a bit of a crack in her voice. "HELLO RUBY did you do your homework, 'cause if you don't Pyrrha will KICK my ass!" (7)
Ruby nodded. "Yeah she's fine." Everyone shrugged and went back to watching the movie after Lex put Yang and Neo back in their seat.
Krieger shakily pointed to the freezer. "Okay. Look, it's in the freezer." Blade just gave him a look before beating the piss out of him again. "Come on, man, I told you! It's in the fridge! Okay."
Blade opened the fridge door to reveal a hidden entrance. He glared at Krieger. "You give Frost a message from me. You tell him it's open season on all suck-heads." He pushed Krieger who ran away while Karen entered the kitchen and saw the mess that Blade made. They made their way to an elevator and went down into a server room.
Penny was awed by the amount of servers Blade and Karen walked past. "Your world required that many servers for one system?"
Lex shrugged. "It still does. Even though some tech gets smaller, other tech gets bigger. Hell, before I got my phone I used to use a flip phone." She brought out her old flip phone. "Texting on these phones was always a pain in the ass. But I didn't have my own phone through high school and turned out fine."
Penny nodded and looked at her hands. "Would it be possible to upgrade myself after this movie, Lexious?"
"Only if that's what you want, little one. And remember, you are definitely a person."
"Some kind of archive. This must be where they keep most of their records."
"Isn't this just a little high-tech?"
"They've got their claws into everything. Politics, finance, real estate. They already own half of downtown."
We cut to a skyscraper where Frost was throwing a party but his guests were wondering where their host was.
Frost was in front of a computer looking over the translation of the prophecy while a woman approached him and told him to not keep his guests waiting for him. Shortly after she left a man called Frost to let him know that someone was there to see him.
Blake put her hand over her mouth in shock. "Oh no."
Emerald looked at her in concern. "Blake, what's wrong?"
"I think that was Blade's mother we just saw." Everyone's eyes widened as they looked at the screen in horror. "She didn't die, she became a vampire."
Krieger was following Frost, trying to get his attention. "I gotta talk to you, Frost. I'm sorry. I had to come here. It's a mistake going to Pearl's. I know that. Dumb fucking me. I know you're disappointed."
Frost looked at the idiotic familiar. "Am I that transparent?" Quinn was flirting with a couple of Vampire groupies that wanted to meet Frost.
"Fuck. Frost." A female vampire tried to seduce Krieger.
Quinn looked up and smirked at his buddy. "Deac, Deac, I've been telling these bitches all about you, man. They've been dying to meet you. They are so psyched, these badass bitches. I met them...Deac?" Frost walked past them.
Krieger was still trying to get his attention. "Frost, it's about Blade."
Quinn looked at the groupies. "He's busy. When he's focused on something...he doesn't have time to fuck around." Krieger walked in front of a girl watching a movie.
Pyrrha recoiled in disgust at the sight of the strange creature briefly shown on the tv screen within the movie. "Oum above, what was that?"
Lex groaned a bit. "I was hoping that nobody would notice that." She sighed and summoned an arcade cabinet of the original Mortal Kombat trilogy. "That was a movie adaptation of this game franchise. Mortal Kombat, one of the bloodiest game franchises that only gets more grotesque with each installment. It was really bad."
Yang piped in. "So bad it's good or Oum awful?"
"They made it PG-13, or in my country's case, PG." Blake winced at that as it sounded like when they adopted one of her novels into a horrible made-for-tv movie. "Yeah, they tried to market it to teens but forgot that MK is really violent and brutal. Like more violent than Blade or even most horror movies." She gave everyone buckets before the screen changed to show a man in a blue ninja outfit tearing the head off of a man in a similar yellow outfit from the first Mortal Kombat.
"Subzero wins. FATALITY! Flawless victory!"
Nora's jaw dropped. "That was brutal? Who even were those two ninjas?"
"That was from the first game, Nora, and at the time it came out, that was pretty graphic. As for who they were, the blue one is Subzero and the yellow one is Scorpion. Now, this is from the latest game with the same characters." The screen now showed a fully detailed Scorpion igniting himself before diving through an equally detailed Subzero's abdomen leaving the latter's spine exposed.
Nora's eyes widened as several audience members turned green. "Holy shit." Scorpion unsheathed his sword before decapitating and kicking Subzero's head away, Subzero's head was quickly speared by Scorpion's chain with an explosion of blood. "HOLY SHIT!"
"Scorpion wins. FATALITY!"
Various audience members began vomiting into their buckets, the exceptions being Velvet, Coco, Nora, Ren, Qrow and, surprisingly, Ruby who helped Cinder hold her bucket while the latter vomited violently.
Lex nodded as she waited until everyone was done and cleaned up while she just ate a slice of pizza. "Like I said, brutal." The screen switched back to the movie once everyone gave her the signal to resume.
Krieger caught up to him again. "Frost, this is important. Blade was waiting for me. Look, they're using the girl as bait." Frost lit up a cigarette.
A vampire sneered at the human. "And you were stupid enough to take it."
"Shut up, bitch. I didn't know he was gonna be there. It was a trap, see? But don't worry, it's no problem. We can still get the girl." Frost immediately bit down on Krieger's neck and killed him. Quinn got up as the partygoers became excited upon seeing the familiar dying for his failure.
Frost began making out with his mate after pushing Krieger's corpse into the water. "Forget the girl. I want Blade."
His mate moaned. "I know you do."
"You hear me, Quinn? I want him alive."
Quinn was confused. "What? Wait a minute, man. You want him alive?"
Lex looked at her audience. "So, thoughts?"
Cinder looked at her while gently stroking Ruby's hair. "This film is very interesting and has given me some ideas about what I will do with this knowledge." She noticed some of the group was glaring at her. "While I have not fully abandoned Salem yet, I am having doubts that she was being truthful to me when she offered me power."
Emerald looked at Blake before looking at Lex. "It definitely isn't giving us a dumbass who has to constantly be rescued or screams a lot."
Blake nodded in agreement. "I'm really glad it isn't going with that annoying cliche. And it has gone against some of the most common religious lore about vampires which I'm really grateful for."
Glynda stretched a bit. "I appreciate that Blade was willing to save Karen's life."
Ren held his chin in thought. "I'm mostly concerned about that prophecy and why Frost was so keen on translating it."
Lex smirked. "Well, let's not keep you dudes waiting." She resumed the film and checked to see that the spell was almost undone.
(1) - I know what I said last chapter but honestly, this makes it easier on me.
(2) - Yeah, honestly, Mercury should've fucking died during the Fall of Beacon or even at the Battle of Haven.
(3) - Seriously, Winter sees Weiss for the first time in possibly years and her immediate response is to treat her like she's a private at boot camp? She's a student, not a fucking cadet! And yes, I love Mass Effect since I chose Jennifer Hale as the voice of Lexious Skyguard.
(4) - If you're confused, look up "The Story of Edgar" on YT. It's from Achievement Hunter's early years. Still sucks that "X-Ray and Vav" was cancelled after Ray left.
(5) - Yeah, I was surprised by that fact. Thanks GoodBadFlicks for that piece of trivia.
(6) - Yup, since this is before V7, Qrow's VA is Vic Mignogna and if you have a problem with that, the door is on your right.
(7) - Sorry, I couldn't resist when that scene popped into my head.
Welp, after a couple weeks, I am so fucking glad to be done with this chapter. So, like I said, it'll take a bit longer for the next chapter as I'm working now. Thankfully, I have the next two days off so I can get started on the next part faster.
Leave a review if you liked it, if you want, but no flames please.
Stay safe everyone!
*Chapter 4*: Blade: Part 3Jeez, almost a month since the last update. This has taken some time mostly due to being so tired from work but I hope you enjoy it, nonetheless.
First, let's go through the reviews:
Khoashex: Thanks for the warning. Katana recently got a scare as well so we've been putting our stories on Quotev as well, just to be safe. You can find me on there with the same username as on here.
The Keeper of Worlds: Glad you love it.
keybladelight: Actually someone has done that, look up "RWBY Watches Classic Movies" as they've had some of the RWBY characters react to Episodes IV and V along with some other films. As for more of the cast, I'll address that during this chapter. And yeah, RIP Chadwick.
Guest (August 31): Some of it can be good but as an adaption it wasn't that great.
Critical Darling: Yeah, he's really good at what he does. Maybe I'll have them look at his vid on Blade after the movie.
Katana of the Blade: I'm doing better at the shipping? I'm just going with what comes to mind for what I would hope to have in a relationship someday. And glad you approve of the adoption plan and for bringing in Ilia. But should it be before or after she enters the White Fang is the question now.
Vld: I think I addressed that this is them before they actually started watching Thor so the events of what's happening to them here doesn't affect Katana's version of themselves. Basically, time travel shenanigans. And we might not go that far for dealing with Jacques as that would be letting him off too easy.
Batthan the Dark Knight: Let's find out shall we?
Thanks again to Katana for the shoutouts in her stories. Now, onto the show, dudes and dudettes.
WAKANDA FOREVER!
We cut back to Karen and Blade looking through the archives. She recoiled at an awful stench. "What's that smell?"
We see an impossibly obese vampire talking to Frost. "Study the image carefully, Frost. You will need 12 purebloods to make the ritual work. Krieger, is that you?" The vampire started to freak out at the sight of Blade. "He's here. He's here."
Blade looked unimpressed. "This must be Pearl, the record keeper." Pearl farted in fear which made both Blade and Karen recoil in disgust.
Winter groaned. "Really, toilet humour?"
Coco's jaw dropped at how obese the vampire was. "I thought their race survived entirely on blood. So how is he so fat?!"
Lex growled after she looked it up. "The fat fuck got that way from eating the hearts of humans, his favourites were those of children and infants." (1)
Glynda shakily took off her glasses as she started to look green again. Nora quickly gave her one of the self-cleaning buckets before holding her mom's glasses and hair, she gently rubbed Glynda's back while her mother threw up again as Jaune did the same for his girlfriend, Pyrrha.
Yang clenched her fist in anger while holding a shaking Neo as Cinder did her best to calm down Ruby, who was trying her best to look brave for her teammates but was trembling badly in fear. Emerald looked at Lex. "Tell me that this bastard suffers."
Lex grinned evilly as she remembered what happened next. "You're gonna love what they do to Pearl."
"He's going to kill me. You need me, Frost. You need me."
Frost sighed. "Pearl, you're history. Have the good grace to die with some fucking dignity."
Lex snorted. "'What's dignity? Is that something you eat?'" She did her best to lighten the mood and it thankfully got a couple chuckles from the group.
Pearl whimpered. "Frost. Ruthless bloodsucker."
Frost smirked as Blade turned the screen to see the arrogant prick was cleaning up Krieger's blood from his pale face. "Congratulations, Blade."
Blade glared. "Frost."
"I hear you've been looking for me. I'm flattered."
"It'll pass."
Frost turned off the transmission in anger. "Fuck."
Blade snapped his fingers before Karen took out the UV lamp. Pearl looked at it in fear. "What is that?"
Blade looked at Pearl. "That, biscuit boy, is a UV lamp. We're gonna play a little game of 20 questions. Depending on how you answer, you may walk out of here with a tan." He pointed at the screen beside him. "What's that?"
"Oh, that? Oh, it's nothing. It's routine research. Actually, it's a video game." Blade snapped his fingers and Karen turned on the UV lamp before briefly shining it on Pearl who screamed in agony.
"That must have hurt."
"It's a fragment, a piece of the prophecy!"
"What prophecy?"
"Oh, I'm not really sure. There's so many. How could I...?" Blade just looked at Karen who shone it on Pearl again.
Lex just laughed at Pearl's pain. "I love how he just looks at her without saying a word."
Qrow looked at the kitsune. "You have issues."
She just shrugged. "Ehh, I learned to live with them."
Pearl began ranting in the Vampiric language. "La Magra is coming! The Spirits of the Twelve, will awaken the Blood God!" He spoke in English again once Karen stopped shining the lamp on him. "And there is nothing you can do about it, Daywalker!"
Blake groaned into her hands. "Of course, there's a Blood God." She raised her hands in frustration. "Why wouldn't there be a prophecy about a fucking Blood God?!"
Emerald raised an eyebrow at Blake. "Sounds to me like you need a break from books, Blake." Everyone leaned back in shock when Blake actually hissed at Emerald for saying that.
Lex sighed and reached between her own cleavage before pulling out a book and tossing it to Blake. "Catch." Blake caught the book before holding it close and nuzzling the book, she even started to purr loud enough for Emerald to hear. "Yeah, never get between a bookworm and her stories." She rubbed her neck. "Trust me. I love my wives but you take them away from their stories and they won't hesitate to fight you to get back to reading." She shuddered when she remembered her fellow interrogator threatened her with going raw the next time she interrupted her reading time.
Emerald blushed as she saw that Blake was nuzzling her personal copy of 'Ninjas of Love VII: Wargames'. "Holy shit! That's my autographed copy she's holding! Does...Does Blake like my scent that much?" Emerald blushed even more as she remembered how lewd that book was and what she had done sometimes when no one else was around. "M-Maybe after this, I'll ask her out on a date."
"Is that so?"
Pearl whimpered. "Well, that's what Frost says."
Blade took the drive that contained the translated prophecy. "Then you won't mind me borrowing this for a while, will you? If he moves, fry him." He looked at Karen before going towards a sealed door. "What's in here?"
"Nothing. It's a storeroom. But you're wasting your time. There's nothing of importance to anyone."
"Then you won't mind if I take a peek." He began placing explosive gel around the door.
"No!"
Karen immediately fried him before stopping when Blade looked at her in surprise while Pearl whimpered in pain. Karen looked at Blade like she did nothing wrong. "He moved."
"Damn, Karen." Emerald was smirking. "You weren't kidding when you said that we would love that. That was very satisfying to see him suffer like that."
The kitsune chuckled at Emerald's enjoyment. "Back on Earth, we have a word for what you're feeling, Emerald. It's called schadenfreude."
The others looked at Penny who translated for them. "Schadenfreude, it means to find joy in someone else's suffering." (2)
Cinder scoffs at the word's meaning. "You just described Tyrian Callows. The damn psychopath."
Blade detonated the gel before the door comically fell down. They walked past the computer that Frost had used earlier and entered a room with at least a dozen scrolls of papyrus.
Pyrrha looked at the screen in wonder. "What are those things being held up in the glass cases?"
"Papyrus, it's what we used to use on Earth before we started using paper. Funnily enough, papyrus has lasted longer than paper."
Karen looked at them in curiosity. "What is this?"
"These are the pages from the Book of Erebus. The vampire Bible. It contains everything, their entire history. La Magra must be one of their legends."
"Why is Frost so interested in La Magra?"
Blade told her to be quiet as he heard someone running around. He followed the sound until he came across what he thought was a child and offered his hand to her. "Give me your hand."
Quinn entered the room and chuckled. "¡Hola, amigo!" He held Karen hostage as a female vampire threw the UV lamp onto the ground, it was destroyed. "Do you remember me?" Blade turned around as he realized that it was a trick only to be pushed back by the childlike vampire, Blade was pushed back through one of the displays before taking her down until he was knocked down by several vampires while Quinn cheered. "Give it to him! Hey. Hey!" Quinn approached them and grinned. "Nice one. Well, well, well. You took my arm, man. Remember? But it's cool." He took off his glove to reveal his slowly regenerating hand. "I got a new one. Think I'll ever play piano again?"
This time both Nora and Ruby looked visibly green at the disgusting sight of Quinn's hand. Thankfully Ren and Cinder gave them buckets and rubbed their backs along with holding their hair as they vomited from the grotesque sight.
Lex looked at them in concern. "If this is bad from them, I wonder how they'll handle the Deadpool films when we get to them."
Quinn laughed as he put his glove back on. "You can slice him, you can dice him, but the Quinn man just keeps on coming."
A vampire was holding Blade's sword. "Check it out. I've got his pigsticker." The security system activated and destroyed the dumbass's hand completely.
Everyone recoiled in shock at seeing the vampire losing his hand. Ruby nodded in agreement to what Lex said earlier. "Yup, definitely not adding that to our weapons." She didn't notice everyone quietly sighing in relief at her agreeing with Lex's earlier statement.
Quinn laughed. "You're a fuckup, Crease. You're a fuckup. 'I got his pigsticker.' You're just full of surprises, ain't you, chief?" He punched Blade before holding Blade's head. "Stay with me, sweetness, because I'm not finished with you yet." He pulled out one of the silver stakes. "Lookie here. Silver. Nice craftsmanship, huh? Probably cost you a pretty penny. Now, this here is a man who takes his job, just a little too seriously, don't you think? Come to think of it, Blade, I owe you one." He stabbed the stake into Blade's left shoulder before grabbing another stake. "Actually, if you wanna get technical, Blade, I owe you two." He noticed Blade had started laughing. "What's so funny, bright eyes?"
Blade grinned. "I'm expecting company."
We zoom in on Blade's ear to see a small earpiece before the wall blew up to reveal Whistler. "Catch you fuckers at a bad time?" He started shooting at the vampires to give Blade and Karen covering fire. Quinn immediately started shouting for them to hold their fire and to focus on capturing Blade alive while none of them noticed that Whistler had dropped his bag.
Neo, Nora, and Lex raised scorecards of 6.5, 8.3, and 7.9 respectively at Whistler's entrance.
Yang grinned. "Damn, I gotta remember that one the next time we run into Adam Tauros's White Fang cell or even some Grimm."
Nora giggled. "I'll bring the explosives."
Glynda looked at her daughter. "Nora!"
"What? I was gonna use that explosive gel that Blade used, not C4 or Dynamite, mom."
Glynda sighed. "Just be careful, alright?"
"I've been making my own ammo for years, mom, don't worry."
"It's my job to worry about you, Nora."
Nora smiled and hugged Glynda. "I know, mom, and that makes me happy to know that you care about me." Glynda smiled and hugged her daughter back.
Whistler, Blade and Karen were escaping through a tunnel. Karen looked at the old man. "You've been listening the whole time?"
Blade grunted. "Radio contact."
Whistler scoffed. "Think I'd let him run loose without a chaperone?" The tunnel led to a subway tunnel. Whistler winced as they leaned against the walls. "Christ! I'm too old for this. Somebody get me a goddamn wheelchair." Whistler's bag had timed explosives that went off but some of the debris knocked him down to the tracks while Karen called out to him.
Ruby whimpered. "Oh no! Please don't die, Whistler!" She barely noticed that she could freely move her legs again as she curled up in Cinder's lap while the older woman held Ruby and comfortingly rubbed her back.
Cinder smiled reassuringly at her soon-to-be ally and maybe even future girlfriend if she played her cards right. "He'll be okay, Ruby. We saw that he's a tough man." Ruby nodded but was still worried about the old hunter.
"He can take care of himself. Jump!" They jumped over the train tracks but Karen lost her footing and slipped, thankfully Blade grabbed her and brought her up to the other side right as another train approached. Quinn jumped and the train missed him but it hit several vampires that tried to follow him. Karen slipped and landed beside the train, Blade reached for her but Quinn grabbed him and pulled out his sword.
Blade realized what Quinn had done and kicked him to make the vampire drop the sword. The sword landed in front of Karen and she saw that Whistler was indeed okay as he went through a hatch that led to somewhere below the subway tunnel.
Cinder looked at Ruby. "See? He's tougher than he looks, Ruby."
Ruby nodded. "I just don't like seeing people I care about dying." She held Cinder closer while the older woman gained a light blush as she realized she was becoming one of the people that Ruby cared about.
Lex did her best to hide a wince at Ruby's reveal. "Oh boy, that means that Blade Trinity and X-3 are gonna really hit her hard." She held back her tears as she thought about the films down the line. "...And then there's Logan and Days of Future Past, not to mention what happens to Erik in Apocalypse. Oh yeah...forgot that happens in Dark Phoenix but meh, not that big of a loss plus the trailers practically spoiled that part." She wasn't a big fan of Apocalypse as it basically destroyed how imposing the mutant was supposed to be and didn't watch Dark Phoenix as it looked like another poor attempt at adapting that storyline to the big screen but had seen every X-Men film whether at home or at her local theater. (3)
Lex blinked as she realized something and texted Katana her realization. "Didn't think about it until just now but, we're showing them two different series that have time travel in their films. Granted, one is through mental means while the other is basic technological time travel. Wonder how the two versions of Blake will handle them. Not to mention they'll be seeing parts of WWII at least 4 times in the X-Men franchise." (4)
Blade started beating the piss out of Quinn. Karen started climbing up before stabbing Blade's sword into Quinn before Blade shoved the bastard's face against the train which tore off some of his skin. Karen tossed Blade his sword which he used to sever Quinn's other hand and Quinn screamed in pain before running away.
Blade helped Karen up and moved her closer to the wall as he reached out his hand while several vampires were approaching. She looked at him with worry. "What are you gonna do?"
Jaune's eyes widened. "He's not gonna do what I think he is, is he?"
"Oh, my God." Karen realized what Blade was planning.
Qrow nodded. "He is, kid."
Sure enough, Blade grabbed the bar on the back of the train before he and Karen got inside. Blade leaned against the wall as his right arm hung limply, Karen quickly ran over to him. "What's wrong?"
Blade gritted his teeth. "It's dislocated."
Glynda shook her head. "That's what happens when you do something insane like that."
Qrow chuckled. "She speaks from experience, kids. Trust me, she wasn't always the strict teacher you know her as."
Glynda blushed and threatened Qrow with her riding crop. "Say anything and I'll tell them about the incident."
Qrow's eyes widened. "You wouldn't."
Glynda grinned at him. "Try me, Mr. Bottomless." (5)
Needless to say, Qrow backed down much to his nieces' shock while Lex brought out a little notepad. "Glynda ten, Qrow three."
Nora was in awe of her mom. "Can you teach me how to do that, mom?"
Glynda whispered to her daughter. "Only if you promise to not drink the entire school's supply of syrup for one week." Nora blushed but accepted her mom's challenge.
Karen put her hands on his arm and he snarled at her. She looked at him. "Let me help you." She pulled on his arm and he groaned in pain. He took out a vial of his serum and held it in his mouth. Karen tried to help him but he got up and went to the other side of the train car before he injected himself with the serum. Karen looked at him cautiously. "You're one of them, aren't you?"
Blade grunted. "No. I'm something else."
We fade to black before cutting back to the safehouse as Whistler was bandaging himself up while he spoke to Karen about what Blade was. "I found him when he was 13. He'd been living on the streets, feeding off the homeless. His need for blood had taken hold at puberty. I took him for a vampire at first. Almost killed him too. Then I realized what he was. Blade's mother was attacked by a vampire while she was pregnant. She died, but he lived. Unfortunately, he'd undergone certain genetic changes." He lit up a fresh smoke. "He can withstand garlic, silver, even sunlight, and he's got their strength. By this time tomorrow, all those wounds of his will be healed. He still ages like a human, though. See, vampires age slower than us. Unfortunately, he also inherited their thirst."
Karen was confused. "I thought the serum was supposed to suppress that."
Whistler sighed. "Time's running out. His body's starting to reject it. So far, all my efforts to find a cure have failed."
Nora looked at Lex. "You said 'there was no cure yet', right?" Lex nodded. "So if Whistler hasn't been able to find a cure, maybe Karen will since she's a hematologist?"
Lex smirked. "You're learning fast, young warrior." She soon spoke mentally to Nora. "Now don't freak out, Nora but I'm speaking to you telepathically right now. I know you and young Lie are the sole survivors of your village and while you may have learned to use that memory to help push you, it can also hinder you just as it will him."
Nora glanced at her boyfriend before mentally replying to the kitsune. "Are you saying that Ren's going to lose himself to vengeance, Lex?"
"Unfortunately, he comes close when you, him, Jaune, Ruby and Qrow encounter that abomination at the ruins of your village but the one that got him to snap out of it was you, Nora. So, what I'm offering you two is training simulations against it. It can happen either before or after we watch X-Men. Don't worry about time as I will be using a special chamber designed by one of my wives to help you two come to terms with what happened when you were children."
"Can it be after X-Men, please?"
"Of course, young warrior. Just know that I will be in the room with you two just in case things start to go too far, alright?"
"C-Can my mom join us?"
"Yes, she is allowed to join but she will only enter combat if I deem it necessary, deal?"
"Deal. Thank you, Lex. I think both Ren and I need this."
Karen looked at him in curiosity while he took a swig of whiskey. "Why do you hunt them?"
He shakily fixed his leg brace. "I had a family once. A wife, two daughters. Then a drifter came calling one evening, a vampire. He toyed with them first. Tried to make me decide which order they'd die in. We kill as many of them as we can find, but it's getting worse."
Qrow, Glynda and Winter held their respective loved ones who held them in return as they couldn't imagine the thought of going through what Whistler went through. Lex looked at the screen and shook her head a bit. "That's a retcon that Blake's probably gonna be pissed at in Trinity. Looking at it now, he didn't exactly say that they all died but instead, implied that they died."
"Because of Frost."
"There's something happening in the vampire ranks. It's something big...and I'd stake my life that son of a bitch is at the center of it."
We cut to Blade sitting in a chair, facing the wall. Karen cautiously entered the room before leaning against a desk. "Blade? Whistler told me what happened. He told me what you are."
Blade sighed. "You don't know me. You don't know anything about me. I'm not human."
"You look human to me…"
"Humans don't drink blood."
"That was a long time ago. Maybe you should let that go."
"I have spent my whole life looking for that thing that killed my mother and made me what I am. And every time I take one of those monsters out, I get a little piece of that life back." He glanced at her. "So don't you tell me about forgetting."
Nora held her boyfriend close to her as she knew that this was what he was thinking everytime he killed a Grimm. She didn't want him to be consumed by vengeance or else he would never feel whole again.
We cut to Frost's penthouse where his mate, named Mercury, and Quinn were arguing as Quinn shouted at her. "My fault? He took us by surprise!"
She scoffed. "Two of them against your entire security force?"
"Don't put that shit on me, you were there too."
"I'm sure Deacon will appreciate-"
Quinn's arm was being wrapped up in gauze. "...Stabbed in the balls for it, all right?!" The vampire bandaging him bit into his arm making him yell in pain. "You little skeez."
Mercury smirked. "The amputee lifestyle really suits you."
Quinn threatened her with his arm stump. "I should put this stump through that shit-eating grin of yours."
"Face it, angel. You were sloppy. You got what you deserved."
Blake looked nervously at Yang. "W-Was I that bad, Yang?"
The blonde brawler looked at her partner. "You were getting pretty close to that level, Blake. But you thankfully reined it in for your date with Sun to the dance after we talked."
Blake blushed lightly. "Thanks for talking to me, Yang. I don't think my mom would be particularly proud of me for doing that."
Neither of them noticed that Lex slowly gained an evil smirk when Blake mentioned her mother. "Oooh, three mothers to embarrass their daughters? Lexie, you little devil." Lex looked at the young feline faunus. "Oh Blake, you just gave me an idea. An awful idea." Her smirk slowly morphed into an iconic smile, the Grinch's smile. "A wonderful, awful idea." She mentally laughed like a villainess while Blake felt a chill run down her spine as if something embarrassing was going to happen to her soon. (6)
Quinn saw Frost. "Deac, let me take this guy out, man. Look what he fucking did! He took my hand again!"
Frost looked at him. "Listen to me. I want him alive."
Quinn was really confused now. "What the fuck are you talk...? You want him alive? We've been trying to kill this motherfucker for years. Are you out of your fucking mind? You want...?"
"Shh. Big guy, relax. Be patient. We got a lot to do here. I need you, man. I need you." That seemed to calm Quinn down enough.
Lex sighed. "Vanity." Thankfully they were ready to cover Ruby, Penny and Weiss's eyes again.
We cut to Frost and Mercury applying lotion to their faces while also making out before we see that they had kidnapped Dragonetti.
"Pepper." She sighed. "I'm so glad that we won't have to do this again for a good while after this film. Wait...is there a scene with lewdness in the next Blade films?" She quickly brought out her secondary phone to check IMDB and mentally sighed in relief. "Oh thank Primus that there isn't. But I'll definitely have to do this for the Deadpool films and for the earlier parts of Logan. I hate my life."
Frost smirked as he removed the bag over Dragonetti's head. "Good morning. How you feeling?" He took off Dragonetti's tie while the pureblood started looking uncomfortable, like he was in pain. Frost pointed towards the horizon where daylight was starting to peak out.
Emerald eyes widened as she realized what Frost was doing. "Oh shit. He's gonna kill him, Frost is gonna murder one of the council members!"
Blake looked at her. "But wouldn't Frost also be killed?"
"He would unless…"
They looked at each other before speaking at the same time. "He's found a way to survive being in sunlight long enough!"
Lex smirked. "They're learning fast just how much of a threat these vampires are in this trilogy."
"Look at that. Whew! Getting a little toasty out here, huh? When was the last time you stopped to appreciate a good sunrise?" Frost looked at Dragonetti as the elder vampire started smoking while the pain was getting worse. "That's right, you were born a vampire, so you never had the pleasure, have you? That's okay. It's all right. Least we're here together." Frost was enjoying this as Dragonetti's face was getting more red by the minute. "Share the moment. Which means a lot to me by the way, really. I mean that. Cause actually, you know, when you get to know me, I'm a fairly sentimental type of guy. Bit of an innocent, you might say."
Dragonetti gasped in pain as Frost took his coat and started to unbutton the elder vampire's shirt. "Do what you want, Frost. Doesn't make any difference."
Frost became angered and ripped open Dragonetti's shirt which made the vampire's body release more smoke thanks to more of his skin being exposed. "You just don't fuckin' get it."
"You're never gonna be a pureblood."
"Hold him."
Dragonetti struggled against his captors while Frost took out a pair of pliers. "You will never rule us." Dragonetti groaned in pain as Frost pulled out his canines.
Everyone winced and Ruby whimpered as she held her mouth as it looked incredibly painful.
"Jesus Christ. Have a nice day." They put on black leather gloves and helmets with heavily tinted visors.
Quinn smirked. "Sorry, you old dog. You just got a little too long in the teeth." He laughed at his bad joke. "What, man? That was funny. "Long, tooth." It's funny, man. Did I tell you the one about the leprechaun...?" Dragonetti started screaming in agony as his skin tore apart before his body became engulfed in flames and he violently exploded to their shock.
Glynda leaned back in shock at the Elder vampire's death. "To borrow something from your world, Lexious…Jesus Christ!"
Lex nodded at her reaction. "Understandable. I was shocked too at how explosive his personality was."
Yang smirked at the kitsune. "Really? I just thought he got a little hot under the collar." Despite everyone groaning at their bad puns, they were thankful at their attempts to lighten the mood.
We cut to the council who looked at Frost as he entered the room. One of the Elders questioned him about Dragonetti before they were stunned in silence at seeing him toss a pair of fangs onto the table. Frost sat down in Dragonetti's chair. "Let's get down to business, shall we? I need 12 volunteers."
We cut back to Karen carrying something out of the back of a truck. Blade approached Whistler and gave him some papyrus. Whistler looked at it before giving it a quick sniff. "What is this? Smells like a vampire wiped his ass with it."
Blade had a feeling Whistler would know what it meant. "I took it from the archives."
"It's written in blood."
"It's from the Book of Erebus. I think it's what Frost has been working on."
That got Whistler's attention as he translated what he could. "It's something about the blood god, the Spirits of the 12. I don't know. I can't make out the rest of it."
Pyrrha was confused. "How was he able to figure that out?"
Jaune cleared up some of Pyrrha's confusion. "Whistler's the old mentor, so he's likely been studying more than just the habits and tactics of Vampires during his years of hunting them."
Blade gave him the hard drive containing Frost's translation. "Well, maybe this'll help."
"We'll figure out something."
Blade followed Whistler and saw that Karen had some medical equipment set up. "So, what's all of this?"
Karen was setting up a display. "Took a trip to the hospital last night, borrowed some equipment."
Neo smirked. "I like the way she thinks. It's not stealing, I'm just borrowing it." She flipped a strange two-headed coin that was red on one side and blue on the other.
Right as Neo was about to catch it, Lex grabbed it from her and glared at the former mute. "Take this from me again, and I will bend that umbrella sword. Am I understood?" Neo was shocked at how fast Lex moved, she didn't even see her get up from her chair. "I said. AM. I. UNDERSTOOD?" Neo nodded furiously as Lex smiled sweetly. "Good girl." Everyone looked at her in confusion. "It was from my husband. He warned me to not flip it inside the house." They nodded but were only more confused about the warning.
Lex held the coin close to her chest as she took several breaths to calm down. "It's not really the one he gave me but it helps keep me calm. That coin he gave me is in the more secure section of my armory. At least Neo won't take it from me again."
"For your miracle cure?"
Karen sighed before showing him a silver container. "This is EDTA. It's an anticoagulant. We use it to treat blood clots."
Nora's eyes widened before she started grinning and giggling. "Karen, you clever woman. This is gonna be good." Glynda looked at her daughter in concern.
"Look what happens when I introduce it onto a sample of vampire blood. Take a step back. The reaction's energetic." Karen stepped back while Blade thought nothing of it as he looked through the microscope. Nothing seemed to happen until the blood quickly exploded and broke the glass.
Whistler chuckled while Blade looked at her in disbelief. "Some cure."
"I didn't say EDTA was a cure. But maybe you could use it to explode some vampire heads."
Glynda looked surprised. "Well, that's one way to get payback, I suppose."
Blade was about to walk away but Karen stopped him. "Wait a minute. I need a sample of your blood."
"Later. I gotta go downtown. I need some serum."
Whistler made him stay put. "Serum can wait. This is important."
Karen brought Blade to a chair while Whistler walked away, the older hunter started coughing badly. Karen looked at him in concern while she took a sample of Blade's blood. "Is he sick?"
Blade barely held himself together. "Cancer."
"You have a lot of love for him, don't you?"
"We have a good arrangement. He makes the weapons, I use them."
Karen smirked as she saw through him. "You know, my mother used to say, 'A cold heart is a dead heart'." Karen left him while he looked at Whistler, the old man was like a father to him and he could barely handle the thought of losing him.
Everyone was letting that information sink in and Nora looked at Neo. "Neo, how often does Roman smoke?"
Neo was surprised that Nora asked that before she took a sniff of her sleeve and noticed that it smelled like one of Roman's cigars. "Once, maybe twice a week."
"How long has he been smoking?"
"I think maybe 5 or 6 years now, but he only smokes cigars. Why, is that bad?" Neo was getting worried about Nora's questions.
"See if you can get him checked into a hospital after these viewings, okay?"
"You think he might have cancer?"
"He might but you might get cancer from secondhand smoke so make sure you get checked too, alright?"
Neo nodded while noticing a bit that Yang held her close. "O-Okay, I don't wanna lose him so I'll do that, Nora."
Lex carefully changed Yang and Cinder's seats into two seat couches. "Girls, you can move about freely now."
Yang carefully lifted Neo from her legs and sat her on the empty cushion, she still held Neo gently. "Better?" Neo nodded and moved closer to the blonde before resting her head on Yang's chest, she wasn't in a talking mood as she was worried about Roman since he was her big brother. "It'll be okay, Neo. Vale has some of the best medical equipment on Remnant, even Atlas gets their equipment from us."
Penny nodded. "It's true, they're even working on technology to detect cancer at earlier stages in hopes to eliminate it completely before it fully develops."
Ruby had gotten up from her spot on Cinder's legs and walked over to Neo before hugging her tightly. "We'll be here for you, Neo. And even though Roman stole from that Dust shop, he didn't take the money or even hurt the owner, so maybe he's a good guy but took a different turn to help keep you safe."
Yang nodded. "She's right. We may have started off as enemies but I wouldn't mind getting to know you better, Neo." She smiled softly at the former mute. "Plus, now that I can look at her properly, she's actually kind of cute. I wouldn't mind dating her if she swings that way." She mentally chuckled. "Hell, we could even play some good pranks on Weiss and maybe she could show me some new moves."
Lex looked at them and gave them a motherly smile before combining Cinder's couch with theirs and Ruby sat back down beside Cinder before cuddling with her. "Oh my, looks like Ruby's already accepted that she might be falling for Cinder while the faux maiden looks to be slowly warming up to the idea of being with her. Hopefully Ruby likes foxes since she might have a hanyou for a girlfriend if Emerald agrees to be adopted with Cinder." Lex waited until everyone was ready before resuming the movie.
(1) - Again, thanks to GoodBadFlicks for this info. While any hints were taken out of the film, it was still in the script that Pearl favoured them.
(2) - I actually found out about this word thanks to the late Robin Williams when he mentioned it in his final comedy special, "Weapons of Self-Destruction". And we can agree that it really does fit Tyrian, at least from what I've seen, anyways.
(3) - Yeah, I didn't see Dark Phoenix and from what I'm hearing, New Mutants is a train wreck too. From the trailers you would think it would've been over two hours but nope, only 94 minutes which is the shortest for the movies.
(4) - If memory serves, the ones that feature WWII are X-Men, First Class, Origins: Wolverine, and The Wolverine. I don't recall if Apocalypse actually shows it but Erik does destroy Auschwitz in the film, which was where he was kept in WWII.
(5) - This is in reference to the prank that Tai pulled on Qrow that Tai, Oobleck and Port talked about in Volume 4.
(6) - Originally it was gonna just be Ilia but since some people are hoping for more people to show up, I'll be bringing in Ghira and Kali for X-Men. Plus, from what I saw of Volume 5, Ghira definitely strikes me as the RWBY equivalent of Charles Xavier and from what I've seen in other fics, Sienna Khan is Erik Lehnsherr.
So this chapter ended with a bit of a downer yet hopeful note since Whistler having cancer hits close to home for me as I've lost family to cancer, both of my mom's parents died from cancer before she even graduated high school and she lost her brother only a few years ago from cancer as well.
Now I don't know the full medical situation for RWBY but I like to think that they'd take something like cancer more seriously than some other countries do here. But yeah, you've been given a more concrete hint at what Lex plans to do if Emerald agrees to being adopted by the demoness. Plus if you've read my latest story, you know that she does accept also some more shipping progression in this chapter for our three blooming couples.
Anyways, it'll be some time before the next chapter but I'll try to get the next chapter of "RWBY's Science and Magic Lessons" out soon. For those that know Mass Effect, here's a hint of what they'll learn next: "Does this unit have a soul?"
Stay safe everyone. This is church2550 signing off 'til the next time. I'll see you then.
*Chapter 5*: Blade: Part 4 (FINAL)Guest posing as "unCAGEDgamez": ...seriously? "Fuckboi"? What are you, 12? Get a life. Also I had to look up who that guy is as I have never heard of him before.
Guest (September 20th, chapter 3): I'm okay with the games, not a big fan of the 90's movies.
Caine13: It's more of the fact that I really don't like Mercury and this is only volume 2 Cinder so we haven't reached "Grimm-abomination" Cinder yet. Plus the way he handled the books in Volume 2 really pissed me off.
Guest (September 19th, chapter 4): Thank you for understanding.
Guest (September 16th, chapter 4): Well, I know Ozpin, Salem and Ironwood aren't happy if that's what you're asking.
Katana of the Blade: Thank you, though what points were those? And yeah, if we bring her in from her time in the White Fang that means she'll have her crush on Blake but if we bring her in before she loses her parents then she won't have her crush on Blake, at least I think she didn't get her crush on her until after she joined the White Fang. Plus who's to say that it can't be changed to have her parents alive but in comas.
Vld: Ask and ye shall receive. Yeah, it sucks that it's never used again but it was likely due to either budgetary reasons or studio meddling.
Dragonmasterlex: Tells you how long it's been since I watched these movies if I forgot about that part.
Greer123: You're welcome and thanks for the well wishes.
The Keeper of Worlds: Thanks and that's a good question, I'll see what Katana thinks about that.
Critical Darling: Well I might be doing that in a bonus chapter, you never know. And for your question about the X-Men films, just about every film up to Deadpool 2, but for Apocalypse I'll only show Wolverine's cameo and the credits scene from it. I won't be showing them Dark Phoenix or New Mutants, so I've got a long way to go. But thank you for asking about which films I'll handle.
We cut to Karen looking at the bite wounds on her neck before Whistler saw her. He sighed as he approached her. "You don't look so good."
Karen tried to play it off as she started to look pale. "I'm just a little tired. You know, we've been working all night."
Whistler held her head to the side and saw how the bite wasn't healing. "I guess we didn't catch it in time. You got another day, two at the most. For what it's worth, I'm sorry."
Karen looked at him in disbelief as he walked away. "You make it sound like I'm already dead."
Later on that day, Blade was walking downtown until he spotted Frost holding a little girl across the street.
Lex growled at seeing the little girl being held hostage while she slowly clenched a fist with her knuckles cracking loud enough for everyone to hear. "Fucking coward has to kidnap a child just to get Blade's attention."
Glynda looked at her fellow parent. "I'm guessing you're daughter is around that age, Lexious."
The demoness nodded while rubbing her thumb on the blue side of her coin. "You are Paragon, not Renegade." She mentally chanted to herself as she slowly calmed down.
Frost smirked. "How you doing, chief?" Blade moved to bring out his sidearm but Frost pulled the child closer to him as one of his nails sharpened into a claw that threatened to slit her throat. "Easy. Wouldn't want our little friend here to wind up on the back of a milk carton, now would we? It's nice to finally meet you, man. Had my eye on you for years. I know all about you. Your serum, Whistler, everything."
Blade figured out how he was standing in the daylight. "Sunblock."
Blake's eyes widened. "Shit, no one would question how pale you look if you're wearing sunblock!"
Emerald shook her head. "But it wouldn't last forever, plus they would need one strong enough for even an hour and direct sunlight from a sunrise would still be deadly to them since they wore biker outfits and helmets when they killed Dragonetti."
Blake nodded. "True, but since they have the influence, they can manufacture it until they make one that lasts for months, maybe even years."
Cinder cleared her throat. "It's nice that you two are getting along but you're kinda scaring Ruby."
Ruby was looking at her with a raised eyebrow. "No they're not. Plus they're flirting is kind of cute, Cinder."
Blake and Emerald blushed badly at that. "W-We're not flirting!"
Ruby smirked. "Then why are you blushing?" Blake and Emerald didn't respond as they blushed even worse and hid their faces in their hands while Ruby snuck a low five to Neo. "That's for hiding my cookies from me and not hiding your filth, Blake."
Frost smirked. "Hey, it's a start, right? The goal, of course, is to be like you. The Daywalker. You got the best of both worlds, don't you? All our strengths, none of our weaknesses."
"Well, maybe I don't see it that way."
"Oh, so it's back to pretending we're human again? Come on. Spare me the Uncle Tom routine, okay? You can't keep denying what you are, man." Frost scoffed at how Blade was denying his vampiric blood. "You think the humans will ever accept a half-breed like you? They can't. They're afraid of you. And they should be. You're an animal."
Blake and Velvet were shaking at what Frost was saying before they shouted. "WE'RE NOT ANIMALS!"
Lex paused the movie before taking the faunus teenagers out of the room for a while. "We'll be back in a bit, guys. My maternal instincts are going off big time."
Glynda got up and joined the demoness. "I'm coming with you. I've known Velvet longer than you have, Lexious."
Lex nodded. "I'll take all the parental help I can get."
Lex led the three of them to a room with two beds and she gestured to them. "Take a seat you two. We need to talk." Velvet sat on one bed while Blake sat on the other, Glynda took off her glasses and put down her riding crop while Lex took on her human form, which was her regular form but without her fox ears and tails and a bit less muscular than usual. "Now, mind telling us what the hell that was about?"
Glynda gently put her hand on Velvet's shoulder while the Rabbit faunus flinched. "We're not mad at you, girls. We're concerned that something happened during or before your time at Beacon."
Lex knelt in front of Velvet and spoke softly to her. "It wasn't just the cafeteria incident, was it?" Velvet's ear drooped which told Lex everything as she pulled the girl into a comforting hug and soothingly rubbed her back as the girl's shoulders shook while she cried into Lex's shoulder. "Glynda, you need to do something about Team CRDL. Specifically that bastard, Winchester."
"I can't do anything to them if they were only verbally assaulting her, Lexious."
The demoness looked at Glynda with maternal anger. "They pulled on her ear to, and I quote, 'prove that they were real'. The fact that they did it to a fellow student is bad enough but they did it to an upperclassmen, if I was teaching at Beacon I would've called for their expulsion. Bastards like them will only get civilians and other hunters killed." (1)
The Headmistress's eyes narrowed at that as Ozpin neglected to inform her. "You know what, fuck Ozpin's constant bending of the rules. If he's going to allow bullies like them to stay at Beacon then I won't stand for it. If I need to, I'll convince the council to replace him with me." She took a few deep breaths to calm down before she looked at Blake. "Now, Miss Belladonna, will you tell us what caused you to have an outburst like that?"
Blake looked down in shame. "Growing up in the White Fang before it became violent showed me how bad we were being treated, as if we were nothing but scum under one's shoe. I kept being called a freak and an animal throughout my life and it kept building up until near the end of the first semester when Sun showed up and it reached the boiling point for me. W-Weiss and I got into an argument about faunus that revealed my faunus heritage and I just ran away because I was afraid that they wouldn't accept me for who I am."
This time Glynda sat down and brought Blake into a motherly hug. "Blake, it's okay to be afraid. But you can't let your fears control you either." She smiles softly. "You know, Kali had the same problems that you did when she first showed up at Beacon." Blake was shocked that Glynda knew who her mother was but let the woman continue speaking. "You know what she did when she became afraid of what others would think of her as a faunus?" Blake shook her head. "She faced her fears head on and soon met Ghira after graduating Beacon and joined the White Fang when he was still the head of it." Glynda gave the teenager a photo. (2)
Blake's eyes widened when she saw Glynda, her mom, and two other women in the photo. "You were on a team with my mom? How come you never said anything?"
"Would you believe me if I told you during your first semester, Blake?" Blake's ears folded back as she realized that she would've thought that the Headmistress was lying back then. "Tell you what, after X-Men, I'll tell you some embarrassing stories about her if you promise to come talk to me or your friends about anything that's bothering you, okay?"
Blake nodded. "I-I will, A-Aunt Glynda." She hugged her mom's former teammate who smiled softly at being called an aunt and hugged her niece back.
Lex smiled softly at them while she comforted Velvet and she waited several more minutes before helping Velvet up to her feet. "Ready to head back, girls?" She smiled softly when both teenagers nodded before Glynda put her glasses back on and grabbed her riding crop while Lex changed back to her demoness form.
The four of them returned to the theater room and saw everyone else was waiting patiently. Lex sat back down in her seat while Glynda, Blake and Velvet did the same. Emerald and Coco held the latter two close respectively. "Shall we continue?" When everyone nodded she pressed play.
"You're a fucking maniac. Look at them. They're cattle. Pieces of meat. What difference does it make how their world ends? Plague, war, famine. Morality doesn't even enter into it. We're just a function of natural selection, man. The new race."
"Looks like your mascara's running."
Frost rubbed a small bit of sunblock from his cheek and saw that Blade was right, so he decided to hurry it up. "I'm offering you a truce. I want you with us."
Blade glared at him. "What, do you think I'm stupid?" Blade spoke to Frost in the Vampiric tongue. "The Spirits of the Twelve will awaken La Magra."
"You're familiar with the blood god."
Blade spoke to him in English. "Frost, you're nothing to me, but another dead vampire."
Frost was pissed. "You're an idiot, you know that? I came down here offering you an easy way out, and you spit it right back in my fucking face."
Neo made a mini version of Frost that was throwing a temper tantrum and whining about not getting his way like a toddler would at the store. Everyone laughed at the accurate representation of the vampire currently. Lex even gave Neo a strawberry shortcake popsicle as a treat, which the little thief enjoyed thoroughly after thanking the demoness. (3)
Blade slowly reached for his gun only for Frost to lift the little girl by her head. "Careful."
"What do I care? They're nothing but cattle, just like you said."
Frost scoffed. "If you wanna take the hard road, be my guest, pal, but I promise you, by the time this is over, you're gonna wish they never cut you from your mother's-" Blade immediately brought out his gun and tried to kill the bastard but Frost threw the little girl into the street.
The girl was almost hit by a bus but Blade thankfully saved her before telling her to go home and the girl nodded before running away.
We cut back to the safehouse where Karen was talking to Whistler as she continued working on her cure. "It's simple. Why do vampires need to drink blood?"
Whistler spoke to her while he was running the translation of the prophecy. "Because their own blood can't sustain hemoglobin."
"Right. So it's a genetic defect just like hemolytic anemia. That means that we have to treat it with gene therapy. Rewrite the victim's DNA with a retrovirus. They've been using it on sickle-cell anemia." She prepared her arm before injecting herself with a sample of her cure.
Nora translated for everyone before they even asked. "The red blood cells are destroyed faster than they're being made. Easiest way I can describe it is that, if someone has AIDs, then they'll likely have hemolytic anemia."
Glynda rubbed her daughter's back and gave her a soft smile. "Good to see that you're taking your medical studies seriously, Nora. Maybe I'll make you the school's nurse, you would likely look cute in the uniform."
Nora blushed heavily at the thought of Ren seeing her in that outfit before hiding her face in her hands in embarrassment. "Mooom, stop it. You're embarrassing me."
Glynda giggled at Nora's reactions. "It's a mother's job to embarrass her child, to a certain degree anyway." (4)
"Are you sure that's safe?"
"I have no idea, but I don't have a choice, do I?"
Whistler got up and walked over to her. "You actually think this could work?"
Karen sighed. "On me? Yes. On Blade, I'm not so sure. See, he didn't contract vampirism from a bite like I did. He was born with it. It's part of his DNA. I'm sure I can cure his thirst, but it's gonna take time."
Whistler pointed at the translation. "We're out of time. You saw what was on that disk." His eyes widened as they heard Quinn laughing, Frost had found their safehouse. He grabbed a shotgun while Karen grabbed her gun that Blade gave her. "Damn. Get out of here." He started to move a bit while he and Karen checked their surroundings before they shot a couple familiars. He turned and yelled at her. "I said, get out of here." Quinn managed to take him down with a bullet to his bad knee while Mercury snuck up behind Karen.
Frost quickly approached the fallen hunter. "Nice place. Took us a while to find it." He punched Whistler who looked up at him in defiance.
"Bite me and get it over with."
Frost smirked. "I ain't gonna bite you." The prick took several cheap shots at Whistler and spat on him before patting Quinn's chest while walking away. "Do your thing." Quinn approached Whistler with malicious intent.
Lex looked at Cinder and mentally spoke to her. "Little flame, hold Ruby close now!" Cinder gained a sense of dread from the demoness's words but complied and held Ruby closer which Yang noticed and did the same for Neo as her big sister senses were going off.
Sometime later Blade arrived back at the safehouse and noticed that something was wrong when he called for Whistler and saw the body of a dead familiar. One of Deacon Frost's familiars. He slowly moved through the safehouse until he came across a clear tarp covering something, he looked away as he slowly removed it to reveal Whistler.
Ruby gasped and teared up at seeing Whistler's body. "Whistler...n-no."
Cinder hugged Ruby tightly and gently rubbed her back. "It'll be okay, Ruby. He's tough, remember?" Ruby knew that Cinder was trying to protect her but she still turned towards the faux maiden and hugged her back while quietly crying into her shoulder. Cinder looked at Yang who mouthed 'Summer' to her and Cinder understood instantly and gently rubbed Ruby's head while they continued to watch the movie. (5)
Blade glanced at him before looking away in anger that he couldn't protect him before looking at him again when Whistler spoke. "Frost took her. Listen to me. The disk, we decoded it. Frost is trying to trigger a fucking vampire apocalypse. There's some kind of vampire god he's trying to resurrect."
Blade was barely keeping it together. "La Magra."
"You're the key. He needs your blood. The blood of the Daywalker. You're the chosen one. Listen to me, Blade. You can't go after him."
"Bullshit."
"If Frost gets his hands on you, it's all over. There'll be armies of the motherfuckers." Whistler groaned as he could feel the change beginning to take effect. "Shit. You're gonna have to finish me off. Don't want me coming back."
"We can treat the wounds."
"It's too far gone. You know that. Give me your gun." Blade refused him. "Give me the goddamn gun." Blade relented and gave his father figure the gun. "Now walk away, you stupid son of a bitch. Walk the fuck away." Blade quickly turned and walked away as he could barely keep his emotions in check. We hear a gunshot before the gun is dropped from Whistler's limp hand.
Blade was watching the video left behind by Frost. It was a message left by the arrogant vampire. "By the time you watch this, your friend Whistler should be dead. If it makes any difference to you, he put up quite a fight. You can find us at the Edgewood Towers." We see Blade preparing for the final battle before he lifted up the plant he and Whistler kept and cut off its roots.
Everyone was silent until they heard someone muttering something. Cinder looked at Ruby. "What was that, Ruby?"
Ruby looked up at Cinder with angry tears. "I said, I hope Blade kills that fucking bastard." Everyone was stunned at hearing her swear but Lex silently nodded. "Good." Ruby gained a light blush and whispered to the faux maiden. "A-And thank you for c-comforting me, C-Cinder." Cinder smiled softly and gently kissed Ruby's forehead which made the little Grimm Reaper blush even more. "Fuuuck, I have a crush on an older woman. I hope Yang doesn't tease me about this."
Yang however gave Cinder a thumbs up to let her know that she approves and smirked to hint that she will tease Ruby about it until they get together and maybe even after.
We cut to Frost's penthouse as he spoke to Karen. "You seem a bit tense. A bit pent-up maybe, like you need to release something." Karen smirked and shook her head as she saw through his game. "No? Blade not...giving it to you maybe? I don't know, I just, I see such a beautiful woman. Great skin. I'd like to see you happy, that's all."
Karen glared at him. "Is this the part where you offer to turn me?"
"Well, it's either that or a body bag."
"Go ahead. Bite me. I'll just cure myself. I did it before, and I can do it again."
Frost looked at Mercury before looking at Karen. "There is no cure, baby."
"There is if you've been bitten. If you were once human." She smirked. "How'd you get that scar, Deacon? A born vampire would have the power to regenerate from birth. You must've gotten scarred before you were turned. Isn't that right?" Frost was getting agitated. "Vampires like you aren't a species. You're just infected, a virus, a sexually-transmitted disease."
Frost was angry now. "I'll tell you what we are, sister. We're the top of the fucking food chain. The blood god's coming. And after tonight, you people are fucking history. He's a hurricane, an act of God."
Neo smirked. "Touched a nerve, did she?"
Emerald smirked. "Considering how pissed he was at Dragonetti for telling him that he would never be a pureblood, I'd say she more than just touched it, Neo."
"Anyone caught in his path will instantly be turned. Everyone you've ever known, everyone you've ever fucking loved. It won't matter who's pureblood and who's not. How you gonna cure the whole fucking world?" He stood up and walked away. "And Blade's blood is the key." A guard came to alert Frost of an intruder in the building.
Several guards readied themselves to fight Blade. They were on edge after seeing the elevator doors close and the revving of an engine could be heard all around them.
Quinn was trying to warn Frost. "Deac, I don't think you understand. I mean, this dude is fucking bad. He had 20 guys around him. I was there, man. He's got shit he throws at you."
Frost nodded and mocked him. "He's got the sword and shit. Yeah, he can throw it in the air, catch it underneath. Yeah, shut the fuck up!" He communicated to the guards. "Make it happen, all right? It's one guy on foot."
Sure enough, Blade proved him wrong as he drove his motorcycle through some glass before he started to take out the guards.
Frost was confused as he heard the gunshots through his earpiece. "Why am I hearing gunfire? Huh? Did I tell anybody to start shooting? I need him alive." A guard tried to beg for his life but Blade still killed him without hesitating. "Jesus Christ. Lock this place down." A guard went and did just that as Blade continued through the penthouse before two vampires approached him.
Blade quickly took them out before injecting them both with EDTA, one in the chest and the other in the eye, and walked away as the vampires screamed in agony until they literally bursted into bloody messes.
Yang jumped a bit from the way the vampires died. "Holy shit! Talk about explosive personalities."
Neo rolled her eyes and smashed a pie into the blonde's face while Lex shrugged. "Meh, 2 out of 10, plus I already used that joke earlier, Yang. I would've gone with 'I've heard of bursting a blood vessel but this is ridiculous' or even 'That's what I call an eye-popping experience'." Everyone groaned at the kitsune's poor attempt at humour. "Oh come on, I thought it was funny."
Blade entered a white room and approached the computer before the coffin bed opened to reveal a woman, his mother was alive. She looked at him in surprise. "Eric?"
Blake's eyes widened. "Fuck! I hate it when I'm right about this stuff."
Blade was in disbelief as he slowly approached her. "But you died."
"I came back, Eric. That very same night. And Deacon welcomed me into his arms."
Before Blade could question her, he started grunting in pain as Frost tased him before his guards continued tasing him.
Frost smirked and kissed Blade's mother before looking down at the hunter. "Jesus Christ. I thought you'd be happy. You're finally being reunited with your mother, and you act like this?" Blade's mother was doing nothing to help her son.
Glynda glared at the woman. "He's your son! Help him, you stupid bitch!"
Lex looked at her in surprise. "Glynda's maternal instincts are coming out in full strength tonight." She stroked her chin in thought. "Makes me wonder how she'll react to Bobby's so-called family in X-2." Lex tapped her chin while looking at the headmistress. "I gotta see if I can get her some armour after this film is over. Maybe see if she can handle medium armour or maybe even heavy armour if we're lucky."
"Blade, give it up. It's over. She belongs to me, buddy. Don't look so surprised. You spent your whole life looking for the vampire who bit your mother. Well, here I am." Frost tased him again and ended up knocking Blade out. "Who would have ever guessed you'd survive your mother's death? But you did, and here we are, one big happy fucking family."
Sometime later, Karen and Blade woke up in the back of a vehicle. He looked around and was breathing heavily. "I need my serum. Maybe when we get out of this, I'll take that miracle cure of yours."
Karen looked at him. "There's one catch. If it works, you'll lose your strength and your ability to regenerate. You'll be completely human." Blade silently contemplated the pros and cons of taking her cure.
Once the vehicle stopped, they were taken out of the back and brought inside of a building. They grunted in pain as they were dropped down a ladder without a care before being dragged to Frost and his posse.
Everyone was shocked at the sheer size of the building. Qrow leaned back. "Damn, they don't build temples like that anymore."
Lex mentally scoffed. "Too bad they actually got worse back home. Fucking hypocrites and their 'Super Churches'." (6)
Frost had his back turned to them while he was standing carelessly on the ledge. "Blade, Karen, glad you could make it."
Quinn smirked as he was wearing Blade's shades. "Hey, man. Thanks for the shades."
Velvet rubbed her hands together. "Just one little push and bye-bye albino fuck."
Qrow looked at Glynda in surprise. "I'm surprised that you're not reprimanding them for their 'language', Glynda."
Glynda smirked. "One word: Raven."
Qrow chuckled. "Fair enough."
Frost sighed. "Our ancestors called this place 'The Temple of Eternal Night'. Nice, isn't it? Apparently, these geniuses forgot it ever existed." He slowly turned and approached his captives. "Fortunately for us, I'm what you might call a student of history."
Jaune groaned and chuckled. "Oh gods, he's monologuing!"
Blake and Emerald chuckled with him. "He really is monologuing!"
Blade was struggling against his urges, against the thirst while Frost continued to monologue. "Why are we here? This temple was built for one glorious moment: This night, for the blood god." Quinn punched Blade when he thought that Blade wasn't paying attention. Frost glared at Quinn who thought that he did nothing wrong. "Thanks."
Emerald rolled her eyes. "Fucking dumbass."
"Let's see this sword of yours." Mercury approached her mate and gave him the sword. Frost looked it over while Blade waited for him to lose his hand. "Titanium, right? Acid-etched? I could get used to a weapon like this." He held it in front of Blade before turning off the security system much to Blade's shock.
Everyone's eyes widened as they all thought one thing. "Oh shit, that's not good!"
"What? You look surprised. I told you, Blade, I know everything about you. Hold out your arm, Quinn."
Quinn was surprised. "Why, man? Because they're, like, all better."
Frost glared at him. "Hold out your arm. Now."
"Deac, I…" He held his arm in fear before Frost patted his chest.
"Just kidding."
Quinn laughed off his fear. "He was fucking with me, man. He was, like, fucking with me."
Karen was trying to get through to Blade but he wasn't responding. Frost smirked. "He can't hear you, honey. The thirst has got him now." Quinn gave him the syringes of EDTA. "What do we have here? The precious serum." Karen recognized the blue liquid immediately but didn't say anything. "How long's it been since you shot up? Twelve, 13 hours maybe? I bet you're just dying for a drink, aren't you?" He taunted Blade by holding one of the syringes in front of him. "What's it feel like? Is your blood on fire?"
Blade glared at Frost. "Try some. You might like it."
"Thanks, but I prefer the real thing. In any event, I don't think you'll be needing these anymore." Frost threw the syringes off the ledge.
Everyone shouted 'No!' before Velvet and Blake's ears twitched. Their eyes widened but they saw Lex gave the signal to not say anything.
Blade was forced to his feet as Frost turned to him. "It's a shame, you know? When I think of what you've become, what you should have become. I guess I don't blame you. I mean, with everything that's happened, it's the human side of you that's made you weak. You should've listened to your blood."
Blade was struggling more against the thirst. "Say what you want, but I promise you, you'll be dead by dawn."
Quinn laughed at Blade's threat while Frost just didn't care. "Get him out of here. Get these fucks downstairs. Now." Blade was taken away as Mercury obeyed her mate and got the elders downstairs while Frost and Quinn took Karen somewhere else. "Don't worry, sweetheart. We haven't forgotten about you."
Quinn smirked. "Oh, no, baby. We got something real special planned for you." They brought her down a hall. "That surfer boy had a nice ass. I sucked him dry. And you'd figure he'd turn, man."
"Yeah, but he didn't turn, did he? No, he turned into some kind of zombie. It happens sometimes, cutie."
Quinn imitated a zombie or Frankenstein's monster. "He was fucking tripped out."
"Pathetic."
"Yeah, these guys are complete scum, man. They'll eat anything. Animals, rodents, corpses, and sometimes, they'll even eat vampires."
Blake's eyebrows shot up. "A ghoul." She gulped in fear for Karen.
Karen was brought to a pit and glared at her captors. "That's a plus."
Frost looked at her. "And bearing that all in mind, I'd like you to meet an old friend of yours." He pushed Karen down the hole and she fell into some kind of pit. "It's too bad. I kind of liked her. What a waste."
Karen slowly stood up before a decaying man stood up."I don't know what's happening to me. No pulse. And, of course, there's the question of lividity."
Karen couldn't believe her eyes. "Curtis?"
"Oum above! That's what happened to Curtis?!" Nora shouted in shock.
Blake silently nodded. "He's become what's called a Ghoul. A human that wasn't fully turned into a Vampire but now has a constant need to feed on other beings to satisfy their neverending bloodlust."
Curtis looked at her in surprise and slowly approached her while she backed up in fear. "Karen? Karen. I never thought I would see you again. Tell me, Karen, do you ever have second thoughts about us?" Karen immediately kicked him and escaped while Curtis called out to her.
Blade was brought to a sacrificial chamber and stripped of his shirt before being put into a casket meant to drain his blood. His Mother looked at him. "Poor child. You're so sick. So thirsty."
Blade glared at her. "Don't touch me."
"Eric, look at me. Vampires are my people now. I'm one of them."
"Can't be."
"Yes, I can. Try to understand, Eric. Your mother died a long time ago. I've hunted. I've killed. And I've enjoyed it. Haven't you?" She smirked. "I know you have. Sooner or later, the thirst always wins." She walked away and pushed a button with her heel before the casket closed loud enough to be heard in the temple below.
All of the elders were becoming fearful of what was going to happen while Mercury grinned. "Come on. Spread them out. One on each glyph, under the towers. Make it perfect." Each elder was placed on their house's respective glyph as Blade's blood was beginning to drip into the temple.
Frost saw that the ritual was ready and smirked. "Bring the elevator up." While everyone was paying attention to the ritual, no one noticed Karen escaping from the pit.
All over the city there was a storm quickly brewing due to the ritual. Meanwhile Karen had managed to make it to the sacrificial chamber and was still wielding the bone she used to escape the pit.
One of the Elders glared at Mercury. "You stupid girl. What do you think is going to happen? La Magra? The blood god? That's nothing more than a fairy tale for pretty little vampires."
Lex facepalmed at seeing Mercury's coat back on despite having seen her with it off less than two minutes ago. "Fucking continuity errors. How the hell do you miss something like that in the editing process?" (7)
Mercury sneered as she approached him. "Then why are you sweating, Pureblood? Are you afraid we're gonna steal your soul? Your pureblood spirit? You should be. Read the prophecy. It's time you fucks contributed something to the cause."
Another Elder tried his luck to get the ritual to stop. "Even if Frost is right, you really think he cares about you? You're gonna die, just like the rest of us." He was promptly killed by Mercury who stabbed him with Blade's sword and kicked it hard enough to be embedded in a wall behind her.
Karen managed to figure out how to open the casket after examining it and freed Blade before trying to wake him up.
Frost and Quinn were riding down the elevator and Frost looked at Quinn. "Tonight, the Age of Man comes to an end. No more compromises."
Quinn grinned. "We're gonna be gods."
"Of course we are."
Quinn laughed. "Yeah. I'm gonna be naughty. I'm gonna be a naughty vampire god." The ritual was almost complete.
Karen looked at Blade's wrists before checking his eyes. Blade was trying to speak. "Gotta stop...Stop…"
Karen sighed. "Save your strength."
"Blue."
"You're hypovolemic. You're bleeding to death."
"Need...serum."
Karen saw how addicted he had become to his serum before taking off her bandages and pulling him close to her neck. "Blade. Blade. Listen to me. I want you to take some of my blood." Blade tried to refuse her. "Look, just do it."
Down in the temple, the Elders were being forced to look with one of them telling them to take their hands off of her. Frost grinned as the blood began to drip onto the Elders' heads. "Is everybody thirsty? I hope you're all very fucking thirsty."
Karen was panting as she begged for Blade to not stop drinking and even moaned in pleasure.
Everyone was blushing at Karen's sudden moaning. Lex cleared her throat and was blushing just as bad as everyone else. "W-Well, never noticed that before." (8)
Ruby had her hood covering her face to hide her massive blush while Cinder cleared her own throat. "L-Let's just pretend that never happened and m-move on." Everyone agreed.
Blade finished drinking and roared before seeing his mother approaching him while the ritual continued. "How was it?" She and Blade were about to fight before lightning struck the temple and all 12 pureblood sacrifices were equally struck by the lightning as Frost grinned at the sight of them in pain.
Karen escaped while Blade fought his mother. Karen slowly approached a vampire guard that had Blade's shotgun while Blade quickly picked up the broken bone that Karen had dropped before pinning his mother to the wall. Karen managed to get the shotgun and killed the vampire in the process but the ritual was getting close to completion.
Neo whooped. "Hell yeah!" Emerald and Cinder rolled their eyes with a soft smile as they knew how much Neo enjoyed moves like that in movies and shows.
Blade's mother was trying to lull into a false sense of security. "Eric...I'm your mother. You wouldn't hurt your mother...would you? Come here." She pulled him close.
Unfortunately for her, that's exactly what Blade was hoping for. "I must release you." His mother screamed in agony after he used the bone as a stake and pierced her heart, he held no remorse as she disintegrated before his eyes.
The 12 pureblood sacrifices had their souls forcefully leave their bodies that immediately disintegrated as the souls flew up before flying into Frost and his eyes fully turned blood red. Frost stood up as his mate called out his name in worry. "Not anymore." The ritual had been completed, Frost had become the vessel for La Magra the Vampire Blood God.
Blade growled before charging into the temple, he landed on the bottom floor and glared before shouting in anger. "FrrooOOOOST!"
"Kill him."
Quinn brought out a switchblade. "Wait. I owe you, man. I got two new hands, Blade. I don't know which one to use to kill you with!"
Unseen by Quinn, Blade readied silver razor wire before quickly decapitating the chuckle fuck and grabbing his shades midair. He slowly put his shades on before taking on Frost's guards. "Frost." He wasn't giving two shits about the vampires in his way, he even ripped out the throat of one vampire and threw it in another's face.
Yang's jaw was on the floor. "Damn! Look at Blade go!"
Qrow and Glynda smirked before the Headmistress looked at her brawler of a student. "Perhaps now you'll take my suggestions of finding new fighting styles more seriously, Miss Xiao Long?"
Yang could only nod while Neo smirked and closed Yang's jaw. "I'll help you with your footwork, Yang."
Blade kicked a vampire into a sandpit before launching several kicks to the vampire's balls. He roared in anger before giving one more powerful kick to the balls that actually launched the vampire several feet in the air. He immediately proceeded to kill the rest of his guards with a shovel.
This time Nora, Neo, Blake, Coco, Emerald and Yang all gave 10's for the way Blade killed Quinn and his follow up fights with Frost's goons.
Yang was grinning. "Now that's what I call a badass!" Neo nodded in agreement to her growing crush.
Lex, however, was holding her groin in sympathy as if she felt those kicks. "Never get between Anko and her dango when she's having a bad day from work. Definitely made me her bitch for a month after that." There was a reason she wore baggy bottoms besides how toned her legs were and it's one that only her wives and husband knew about. (9)
Mercury spotted Karen and began to make her way to her but Karen also spotted the blonde bitch and began to open fire upon the vampiress. Unfortunately, Karen missed all of her shots and Mercury ended up kicking the shotgun away.
Mercury grinned as she thought she had an easy kill while Karen quickly grabbed something from her pocket. "I'm really going to enjoy this now." Mercury lunged forward to bite Karen but Karen had managed to get out and used the vampire mace on the bitch, with her getting it inside Frost's little toy's mouth. The vampiress screamed before her head promptly exploded from the amount of mace she had swallowed.
Lex smirked. "Hey Emerald." The greenette looked at the vixen. "The bitch who just died? Her name was Mercury."
Oh, Emerald was grinning at that little fact. "That just made my day and this movie a lot more enjoyable."
Neo eyes lit up as she started giggling at the thought of their unfortunate teammate getting his comeuppance at the hands of her big sisters. "Yes! Torture the bastard who ate all of my ice cream!"
A couple more guards tried their luck against Blade but he quickly subdued them. He spotted his sword and made his way over to it, taking out all of the guards that got in his way before he pulled his sword from the stone slab. Frost shortly called out to him. "Hey, Blade." Blad glared at the Blood God's vessel and saw that he had a sword of his own. "Let's do this."
Blade charged at the bastard and two began to duel. Blade's longsword against Frost's sword, there were many close calls before Blade finally got the upper hand and cut off Frost's right hand along with bisecting him at the waist. Frost cried out in agony for a little while before blood shot from his waist and reattached itself to his torso. Blade stopped and turned around at the sound before mouthing 'What the fuck?' at the sight before him.
Frost grinned. "You're too late, Blade." He showed Blade his hand as it fully healed itself." Blade quickly tried to cut him up again but it was proven useless as Frost easily dodged him. Frost smirked. "My turn." The vampire sped around before stopping inches from Blade, who leaned back in shock at Frost's speed and Frost decked him hard enough to send him flying back.
Frost laughed and began toying with Blade while the dhampir was doing his damnedest to stay alive. Frost scoffed after having knocked down Blade. "Look at you. You're a little bitch." Blade looked and Frost smirked after spotting what caught Blade's eye. "What, your serum? Can't help you now, stud." Blade dodged Frost for a bit before tossing his sword up and the handle landed within the crack. "Nice shot."
The security blades for his sword activated and freed the EDTA, Blade expertly caught them before quickly throwing one at Frost. Frost thought nothing of it and quickly swatted it out before trying to pounce on Blade. Blade used Frost's cockyness to his advantage to inject five more into Frost, who stopped from the pain. Blade held the final syringe as he glared at Frost. "Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill."
Yang looked at everyone. "All in favour of using that against Adam Tauros?"
Everyone, even Glynda and Winter, raised their hand in agreement. Qrow looked at Glynda in surprise, while she tightened her grip on her riding crop. "The bastard decides to slaughter and threaten the lives of innocent civilians whether they're human or not, including my daughter. He's a psychopath that must be taken down before it happens."
Cinder looked at the woman in shock. "He does what?! I never gave him the go-ahead for that!"
Lex sighs, making the faux-maiden look at the kitsune. "Cinder. He doesn't care about your mission, all he cared about was hurting Blake, even if it meant killing her."
Cinder eyes widened in horror as she was shaken to her core at just who she decided to have as one of her allies for Salem. "I…I never knew that h-he would."
The kitsune gently put her hand on Cinder's shoulder. "After this movie we'll have an intermission while I talk with you, Ruby, and Emerald. Is everyone alright with that?" Everyone else nodded in agreement with their host. Lex looked at the screen and grinned as she paused the movie before she looked at Penny. "Penny, did Katana give you some of the memes from our world?" She cleared her throat before speaking in Japanese after the gynoid nodded. "Omae wa mou shindeiru."
Penny tilted her head with her eyes wide. "Nani?!" Everyone else was confused as Lex resumed the film. (10)
Blade kicked the final syringe into Frost's head. Frost could only look at Blade in shock until he screamed in agony before violently exploding into a bloody mess, Blade had defeated the vessel for La Magra. Karen looked down at Blade and called out to him. Blade looked back up at her. "Let's get out of here."
Blade helped Karen out of the tower before she looked at him as the sun was rising on a new day. "I need to get back to the lab if I'm gonna cure you."
Blade looked at her. "It's not over. You keep your cure. There's still a war going on, and I have a job to do. You wanna help? Make me a better serum."
MOSCOW
Some months later, we were now in Moscow as two people were seen walking towards somewhere.
Weiss looked at the screen in surprise. "Huh, I know we saw some of it in Iron Man 2 but Russia almost reminds me of Atlas and Mistral."
Lex smirked. "You're not that far off actually as Russia is so far north that it is constantly in a state of winter." Her smirk became a frown as she growled slightly. "But, like Atlas, it is very backwards in its thinking. It's an incredibly homophobic country."
The Schnee sisters and Cinder looked at each other in surprise that there was somewhere worse than Atlas in its thinking. Cinder looked at Ruby and held her close before gently kissing her forehead. "I'd rather live on the streets of Atlas than live there."
The woman looked to her date. They were both speaking in Russian. "It's cold. Where are we going?"
The man smirked. "It's a surprise."
"Surprise? I like surprises."
Emerald blinked. "Huh, a little callback to the beginning of the movie. Not bad."
"Then you'll like this." He lunged at her and held her by the throat before grunting as something caught his attention, the man was a vampire.
We cut to Blade holding the hilt of his sword as he spoke to the vampire in Russian. "Catch you at a bad time, comrade?" Blade took out his sword and the movie ended.
Everyone soon got up and stretched before Lex looked at them. "Okay, I'll need Penny, Ruby, Cinder and Emerald to come with me. Qrow and Glynda?" The two teachers looked at her. "You're in charge while I'm gone."
Velvet cleared her throat a bit. "U-Umm, Lexious, if it's not too much to ask."
The kitsune smiled softly. "You want to see my armoury." Velvet nodded with a light blush before Lex gave her a lanyard. "Alright, this will give you limited access to my armoury, Velvet." She gave another one to Coco. "And this will give you access to my wardrobe, Coco. You can look, but don't take anything without authorization."
Velvet looked at her camera nervously as she wanted to take photos of any weapons that she saw. "Is it alright if I take a photo of any weapon that catches my eye, Lexious?"
"Sure, just be careful with some of them." Velvet nodded as she and Coco left the room after being given maps to their destinations. "Now, I need the four I mentioned to follow me." Ruby, Cinder, Emerald and Penny looked at each other before following Lex to a door that led to a chamber. Once everyone was inside, Lex locked the door and looked at Emerald. "Okay, Emerald. I have something to ask you."
Emerald was nervous as the four of them had been isolated from the others. "W-What is it?"
Lex smiled softly. "How would you feel if I offered you the chance to have a family?" Emerald blushed badly as her mind created several lewd scenarios, Lex facepalmed. "Not like that, little gem, I mean to have Cinder as your biological sister."
Emerald's eyes widened. "Y-You mean that I could have parents with Cinder?" Lex nodded. "C-Can you give me some time to think about it?"
"Of course, take as much time as you need. I'll be helping my wife upgrade Penny into an improved body." She led Penny away from the group while the three went into separate rooms in the chamber.
(1) - Seriously, if they're going to do that to an upperclassmen just because they're a Faunus, who's to say that they won't do worse when/if they graduate and the client is a Faunus. Something like that should not be brushed under the rug just because "they're still children".
(2) - I know it's likely not canon but for a moment like this, it just popped into my head and it really fits to me for some reason.
(3) - Yes, those are a real thing and they tasted so fucking good.
(4) - Embarrassing your kids at home is fine but doing so by revealing their insecurities is going too far.
(5) - It may have been years ago but something like losing your parent or family member isn't just something you move on from. It affects you both emotionally and mentally.
(6) - Seriously, why are they building arena/stadium-sized churches instead of homeless shelters? Sorry, but shit like that pisses me off especially since I grew up in a catholic house.
(7) - How do you miss something like her coat being on and off during the editing process?
(8) - Yeah, that's something you don't notice until you're older and after doing multiple viewings like I had to in order to get this movie done.
(9) - Here's a hint, she's not trans. She's just packing extra heat. If that bothers anyone, you are free to leave but don't flame me for my character.
(10) - Vld requested it and I delivered it.
Alright Blade is done, but we have two more chapters to go in this story before it's officially done. The epilogue and a bonus chapter need to be done and then I can move onto the next story in this reaction series.
Anyways everyone, this is church2550 signing off 'til the next time. I'll see you then.
Stay safe out there, Guardians.
*Chapter 6*: Bonus ChapterSo fair warning, this bonus chapter is set just after the third chapter of RWBY's Science and Magic Lessons. I established who Lex's wives and husband are in the beginning of the third chapter of their lessons so if you see a character or one is mentioned that wasn't there or spoken of before, that's why.
Since some people aren't looking at Lessons, this is who Lex's current family is:
Cinder Skyguard (Fall) - Blood Adopted via ritual, Hanyou Kitsune (RWBY)
Emerald Skyguard (Sustrai) - Blood Adopted via ritual, Hanyou Kitsune (RWBY)
Mei "Angel" Fairlight Skyguard - Firstborn daughter, youngest child, Hanyou Kitsune and Half-Changeling Anthro Pony (Friend's My Little Pony OC)
Sunset Skyguard (Shimmer) - First Wife, Anthro Unicorn Pony, has Demonic and "Angelic" forms, Artist and Dimensional Liaison if needed by her wife (My Little Pony: Equestria Girls Friendship Games)
Tali'Skyguard (Zorah vas Normandy) - Second Wife, Quarian, Medical Technician (Mass Effect 3 - Quarian death choice)
Skyguard (Nico) Robin - Third Wife, Human, Archaeologist and Historian (One Piece - Post Timeskip)
Anko Skyguard (Mitarashi) - Fourth Wife, Human, Interrogator (Naruto Shippuden, Post Fourth War but Boruto hasn't happened)
Bass Glitch-Skyguard - Only Husband, Anthro Changeling Pony, DJ (Friend's My Little Pony OC)
Lexious Skyguard - Kitsune, Head of Skyguard clan, Dimensional Archivist (Personal OC)
There we go, now hopefully people won't be confused going forward. Now let's see those reviews:
chilled monkey: Dude, the fact that you solely looked for this fic after giving Katana a scare says that you're fear mongering and I would like it if you could please stop it with this and let people enjoy the stories they like.
OmniUIShaggyOverexaggerated: Glad you're enjoying the chapters, dude. And not quite as I don't wanna jump headfirst into the sequel right away.
Chronosign: I PM'd you and thanked but please, if you or anyone is willing to help, don't send it in via review. Send your transcripts to me via PM. Also, you're transcribing an old script for the movie.
Guest (Oct. 7th): Yeah, I will admit that scene did catch me off guard the first time I saw it.
Vld: Glad you liked that and yup, she was the only girl that really stuck out to me in the series. Trust me, I really hate that asshole too.
keybladelight: Yeah, those ideas just came to me while I was writing those chapters and thanks for understanding. Oh god, yeah, it's really gonna hurt everyone when that happens.
The Keeper of Worlds: Thank you and glad you're loving them.
pittsacee: Considering I went to a catholic school for 8 years of my life, I can definitely agree with that since my entire class was nothing but assholes to me.
Critical Darling: Glad you enjoyed it and wait no longer!
Katana of the Blade: Yeah, like I said to you in a PM, I didn't want to overload it with reactions about every five seconds. I did that once before and hated it.
GojiraFan455515: Glad that I can make it enjoyable and I'll do my best. Yup, that'll be fun for sure.
Dragonmasterlex: Well, happy belated birthday! Yuppers, love that girl plus she's voiced by Laura Bailey!
Mrsiri: In due time, don't worry.
Now with the reviews done we can start this chapter but first, I know that I said that I would have two bonus chapters done for this but I decided that I would save the epilogue chapter for a story I'm working on that will show snippets of the RWBY crew during their stay at the Skyguard clan's estate.
Anyways, with that being said, let's finish up Blade with some behind the scenes facts!
Everyone was confused when Lex brought them to a large theater room. Emerald blinked. "Umm, Mom? I thought you were bringing us to the armory to try out some weapons."
Lex smirked. "I will bring you there but first, can any of you explain the theory of timelines and alternate realities?"
Blake perked up at that. "The theory of timelines and alternate realities is that every choice we make creates a new timeline, like one where Penny was never upgraded and Lex never adopted Emerald and Cinder." Her eyes widened as she realized something. "That's why you shouted to Katana after she thanked you! We're in a different timeline and/or reality!"
Lex chuckled. "You and Robin would definitely get along, Blake." Blake blushed lightly at hearing that one of Emerald's mothers would get along with her while Lex nodded. "She's correct. Tell me, what was the last thing you remembered before dropping in on my domain?"
Winter held her chin in thought. "We were just about to start watching Thor before we started falling and we met you."
"Give a prize to the woman in uniform!" Lex bursted out in laughter when a big plush teddy bear landed on Winter. After she calmed down, she helped the soldier up. "Now, you're right. You…" She blinked as she never really counted them before now. "...4, 8, 11, 13…" She muttered before continuing. "13, will be receiving the memories of your other selves instead of making you watch it since I have a feeling that you're all kinda tired."
Everyone nodded as they had been watching movies for a good while now. Emerald looked at her mom in confusion. "Wait, you said 13 and not 14. I wasn't part of Katana's group, Mom?"
Lex shook her head. "No, but I will give you and Blake the same memory, okay?" Despite Emerald's blush, the young hanyou nodded. "Everyone ready?" They all nodded and braced themselves as Lex snapped her fingers, but they were surprised as they slowly received their memories of watching Thor. (1)
Nora teared up and looked at her Mom, who was surprised that she had received some of her daughter's memories. "Even if I was adopted by a literal God in that timeline, I'm so happy you adopted me, Mama." Mother and daughter Valkyrie hugged each other tightly. (2)
Glynda kissed her daughter's forehead. "I will never regret becoming your mother, my little warrior."
Qrow looked at them and smiled softly before looking at Lex. "I thought that it was a rush job for new memories, Lex."
Lex shrugged. "Katana was on a tight schedule but I, however, like to take my time. Less of a migraine on the receiver, plus you're gaining memories that already existed, Qrow."
Everyone soon took their seats and Cinder decided to ask what was on their minds. "So, will you be doing that everytime our other selves finish an MCU title?"
"Maybe, this is more of a test to see how well the dimensions hold up. Now though, I'll show you guys one video before showing you to your rooms." She smirked and decided to have a little fun. "And yes, before anyone asks, the rooms are soundproof for any couples that wanna spend the night together." Needless to say, most of the audience blushed at that along with her daughters crying out 'Mooooom!' while Lex just chuckled. "You guys make it too easy."
Glynda shook her head before looking at the adult vixen. "So, what is it that you're going to show us?"
"Well, some of the information I've given you about Blade actually came from this video from a man that goes by GoodBadFlicks." (3)
"No, 'How it Should Have Ended' this time?"
"Nah, not a big fan of them unless it's for bad films. Also they didn't make one for this film." Lex sat down in her own seat. "Now, is everyone ready?" Once she was given the go ahead, she started the video.
The video immediately started off with the channel's intro. "Good! Bad! Flicks."
Yang smirked. "Catchy theme. Short and straight to the point."
Lex nodded. "A lot better than his older intro that took at least 20 seconds to get through."
We immediately see a comic panel of what Blade originally looked like. "The character Blade first appeared in Marvel Comics' The Tomb of Dracula No. 10 in 1973. He was a supporting character whose appearance was based on various black actors of the time like Richard Rountree and Jim Brown." As he said this, we were shown the respective actors that inspired Blade's appearance. "As his popularity grew he got his own solo story in Vampire Tales No. 8 in 1974."
We see various covers of different Marvel comics. "In the years that followed he appeared in Ghost Rider, Morbius, Night Stalkers and, finally, in 1994 he had his own series, Blade the Vampire Hunter."
Blake blinked in surprise. "20 years before he got his own series?"
Jaune looked at her. "Actually, it's not that uncommon for characters to start off as minor roles before gaining their own official comic series." Blake nodded as she started to gain a bit more respect for comic books and graphic novels.
"Since the early 90s, New Line Cinema had been doing very well adapting lesser-known comic series to film." We see posters for both The Mask and the 90's TMNT movie. "They were approached by director Ernest Dickerson who wanted to make a film based on the character Blade. David Goyer, who'd been a long time fan of the character, wrote the first draft of the script."
Jaune nodded. "Huh, not often that a passion project is treated with actual respect. Most of the time it's either a bad fanfic or the studio meddles with it and it becomes a butchered mess."
Nobody heard Lex's low growl as she thought about what Jaune said. "Got that fucking right. Really hope those films are no longer considered canon, except for Rogue One. Now that was an actual Star Wars film! Hmm, maybe I should show them Alita: Battle Angel sometime since that was a passion project and actually did really well at adapting the source material." (4)
"New Line met with Marvel, who had already spoken at Dickerson, and they wanted LL Cool J to play the lead." We see an image of a man holding a boombox. "Dickerson left the project to work on something else and New Line brought in Steve Norrington as a replacement." We see the director of the film working on an animatronic of a Facehugger from the Alien franchise. "Norrington had a background in special effects and just finished working on the ambitious sci-fi action film, Death Machine." We see a poster for said movie.
Ruby nodded in approval. "A director that knows how to do special effects? They have my respect."
Lex winced. "Hate to tell you this, Ruby, but...sometimes that's not always a good thing."
"What do you mean?"
"Sometimes they'll care more about the effects than the actual story. We got lucky with Blade." (5)
We see a cover for a comic of Black Planet. "Wesley Snipes was working on a film adaptation of Black Panther at Columbia and was frustrated the production stalled. He received a copy of the script for Blade and left Black Panther which ended up never coming together anyway."
Lex smirked. "Until now. Rest in Peace, Chadwick Boseman. Wakanda Forever."
"He liked Blade so much, he not only agreed to star but also became a producer." We see a clip of Goyer talking about something. "Now with Snipes on board Goyer returned to refine the script. He worked with Norrington to update the Blade story to current times and keep the darker tone of the comics."
"While the script kept some things from the comics, they worked on a new vampire mythology." We see Blade explaining to Karen what to use against vampires. "For example, they got rid of things like crosses and holy water being used as weapons. They said 'What if the vampire was Jewish? Why would a cross work on him?'. They wanted to give it just a little more foundation in reality for something so outlandish."
Qrow nodded. "Like I said during the film, that's actually smart."
Blake nodded in agreement. "It was one of the weirder parts of the mythos. Then again, Old Remnant was heavily religious."
We now see some concept art for the movie. "Since Norrington had a background of visual effects he worked closely with the production design team to make sure they got the right look for the film. He didn't want the gothic romantic-style vampires of Anne Rice, he was looking for a meaner, sort of modern vampire."
We see a photo of Snipes standing beside his martial arts teacher but his hair was looking like it was dyed blonde.
Emerald raised an eyebrow. "Um, Mom? What's up with his hair?"
Lex looked at her in confusion before chuckling when she saw that some of his hair was blonde. "Oh, that must have been from when he was filming 'Demolition Man'. A 90's action comedy that has surprisingly aged just right."
"Snipes had been training in martial arts since he was 12 years old, he was a 5th degree black belt in karate and was fluid in many different styles. He loved Hong Kong action movies and since Blade would have numerous fight scenes, he wanted them to be more like that than typical hollywood action." We see two men practicing sword choreography. "Snipes brought in his longtime friend Jeff Ward to do the fight choreography. They met on 'Streets of Gold' in 1986 and worked together many times since." We see a photo of Jeff Ward. "Ward's done an insane amount of stunt work, one of my personal favorites being his work on 'The Last Dragon'."
"With the production further along they began casting Stephen Dorff was hired to play the villainous Deacon Frost. He read the script and liked it but the character was written to be much older and somewhat cliche."
Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Older?"
Lex nodded. "Yup, think a much older and British Professor Port and you have the comics version of Deacon Frost."
"Well colour me surprised, usually actors have no say in how their character is written. They just have to deal with it."
"Trust me, sometimes it's better when actors don't influence the film too much." Lex mentally growled. "Fucking crybaby bitching about his character being killed in the first act and then fucking ruins how intimidating Apocalypse is meant to be. I mean you go from being taller than Yatsuhashi to being four inches taller than me! And I'm fucking 5'5", goddamnit!" She hated being considered short, especially with how three of her wives were taller than her, though she didn't mind some of the advantages that came with her height. (6) (7)
"He worked with Norrington and Goyer to make Frost a younger, incredibly arrogant villain. In a meeting discussing the character of Frost, Snipe stated he was the kind of guy who would ice skate uphill. Goyer and Norrington loved it and insisted on putting it into the movie."
Blade was holding the final syringe as he stared down Frost. "Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill."
The narrator continued. "Norrington was a fan of 'The Prisoner' so he wanted Patrick Magoohan for the part of Whistler. When that didn't work out, they decided to go with Kris Kristofferson. They designed his character as the grungy grandfather, the modern day Van Helsing that could still easily kick ass if he had to."
Cinder nodded. "And we saw that he was just that stubborn."
Ruby giggled. "Sounds like a certain kitsune I know."
Cinder blushed and pulled Ruby into her chest. She mentally spoke to her. "You're lucky you're cute, Ruby or I'd roast your rosey ass."
Ruby mentally giggled and nuzzled Cinder's chest. "Love you too, Cinder."
"They hired N'Bushe Wright to play the leading lady Karen, Donal Logue as Frost's sidekick Quinn, and Udo Kier as Dragonetti. This was the third time Kier played a vampire, he was even Dracula in 'Blood for Dracula' in 1974. Logue originally had a much smaller part, but was so funny on set they expanded his character and let him ad-lib a good portion of his dialogue."
Yang smirked. "Huh, explains why most of his dialogue felt so natural."
"Spanish model Arly Jover played Mercury, she had very little acting experience but Norrington loved her look and thought she'd be perfect as one of the lead vampires. Late in pre-production, the producers suggested bringing in Traci Lords to play the small role of Racquel, she had the right amount of arrogance and sex appeal to make this very minor character memorable."
We cut back to Goyer in an interview. "Goyer was having trouble with the third act of the film, he felt the first two were solid but wasn't completely sold on the ending. He wrote a dozen different endings and finally narrowed it down to the one he thought would work best. After a long pre-production they started filming."
"The movie was shot mostly in and around downtown L.A., the hospital scenes were shot in an abandoned hospital in Long Beach. In the scene where Quinn fights with Karen he fell and immediately started screaming. Because of the way he fell he massively dislocated his jaw, they rushed him to a real hospital where they thought he was there for severe burns since he still had the prosthetic melted skin from the shoot. After relocating his jaw, Logue explained he broke his jaw in a motorcycle accident years ago and if it gets hit the wrong way it unhinges and locks in place."
Yang winced at hearing what happened to him. "Neo, if I ever let you ride Bumblebee, you have to wear a helmet, okay?"
Neo nodded and cuddled with Yang before whispering to her with a light blush to her cheeks. "I-I know that we're not d-dating b-but I was wondering…" Yang put a finger on Neo's lips and nodded with a soft smile, she whispered back something that made Neo's blush even worse. "She's lucky I'm falling for her. Though I do get some boob pillows so that's a plus."
"Goyer and Norrington fought the studio over a very unusual scene, towards the beginning where Karen's talking to an ex-boyfriend at the hospital. The scene intentionally drags on, they called it the 'Melrose Place' segment." We see the logo for the TV series called Melrose Place. "They purposely want to inject this dull romantic drama to lull the audience into a false sense of security, then when Quinn leaps up to kill the guy it's a surprise. The executives tried to get them to cut the scene but they argued to leave it in and when they showed it to test audiences it got one of the biggest reactions."
Jaune fist pumped. "Yes! I knew I was right about that scene!"
Pyrrha giggled and kissed his cheek. "Maybe you can show me more of your knowledge later, Jaune?"
Lex cleared her throat. "Save it for the honeymoon, you two." Both teens blushed badly at that. "Those two really make it too easy."
"The design team worked with Norrington on the character of Pearl, the Vampire Keeper of the Scrolls. Originally designed as an androgynous Japanese man, Norrington pushed to have it this morbidly obese vampire. The original design had Pearl sitting in his own filth surrounded by dozens of dead children that other vampires had brought him to feed on. The studio thought that was an incredibly poor taste so they removed any notion of dead kids."
Winter shuddered. "Thank Oum that they did that. I don't believe I could handle seeing something like that."
Pyrrha shivered as Jaune held her comfortingly. "N-Nor could I."
"They had to build the set around the monster, it was something like 700 pounds of latex skin that had to be moved with a forklift. It was controlled by five actors, four puppeteers worked the arms and legs and one was the head. They had hoses that pumped fresh cold air into the body while the monster was essentially a giant animatronic puppet, they still added some CG to enhance the skin."
Velvet blinked. "That whole thing was an animatronic? Wow, and this was before Iron Man, right?"
Lex nodded. "10 years before Iron Man kicked off the MCU."
"There was another part the studio had issue with, when Karen first arrives at Blade's lair she finds a jar with a vampire baby Whistler had been using for weapons testing. That part was cut because the studio said it was too horrible."
Everyone winced at that as seeing something like that would have made it very hard to root for Blade and Whistler.
"It was Snipes' idea to have the entrance to Pearl's lair be through a walk-in freezer. He also suggested the young martial arts kid, Eboni Adams. He wanted a completely unexpected moment in the film where this girl seems helpless and then proceeds to kick Blade's ass. Adams was a young martial arts prodigy who was trained under Billy Blanks and took time off from her competition schedule to be in the movie."
"For the subway scene the train car was all CG. They bought three subway cars and used the interiors of them for certain shots, but the exteriors were CG."
"That was all CGI?!" Glynda's jaw dropped in surprise.
Lex nodded. "The 90's were when CGI was really beginning to take off. And it'll slowly get better as the years go by."
"To add some humor and a lot of insanity to the film they added the sequence where Blade goes to a vampire club filled with Japanese businessmen watching the pop punk band Shonen Knife." We see an album cover for the J-Pop band before seeing a vampire from the car chase montage. "That's director Stephen Norrington in a cameo as one of the vampires."
"Director David Fincher did one of the rewrites of the script. He told Goyer in the film Blade needed to kill his mother, his father and Buddha. So in the film he kills his mother, he kills Frost, who technically was his father since he turned his mother into a vampire, and Buddha was Whistler, his mentor."
"In an earlier draft he kills Whistler but in the final version his fate was uncertain. In one version of the ending it's Whistler who's the vampire getting ready to kill the girl in Moscow."
"Uncertain?! We heard the gunshot!" Ruby was confused at that.
Cinder smirked. "But did we see him actually shoot himself or did we just assume that he did?"
Ruby's eyes widened and she gasped. "He's gonna be okay!"
Lex hid her wince. "For now, anyways."
"They shot a few different endings for the film." We see the original planned ending. "The first one was partially conceived, Frost becomes La Magra and unleashes the blood tide which washes over the city and turns everyone it touches into a vampire. They ended it with the vampires winning and causing the vampire apocalypse."
"They set it up so, in a proposed sequel, Blade and Karen would travel around, sort of like 'Mad Max', raiding and destroying vampire food storage areas."
"What's 'Mad Max', Lex?" Neo was confused at the random title drop.
Lex looked at the little thief. "Post-apocalyptic film series where a man loses his wife and child to a gang of bikers before only caring about himself and his car. Honestly didn't understand the hype about them, as a series they kinda suck and on their own they're kind of okay, I guess." (8)
"Since they weren't sure if there would be a sequel they went with the original proposed ending of Frost turning into the blood god and Blade fighting him."
"They screened the film for test audiences who loved the movie all the way up to the final fight. They hated that Frost was the villain and then, in the end, Blade was fighting against a giant CG blood tornado. They went back and re-shot some scenes, adding Frost coming in and out of the blood taunting Blade. This tested even worse."
Yang and Neo laughed at the horrible effects for the original ending of Blade. Emerald snickered. "'Oooh! Can't catch me, Blade! I'm a champion at peek-a-boo now!'" Everyone started chuckling at that.
"They realized the problem was the audience wanted to see Blade fighting Frost, not a visual effect. They asked the studio for more money and worked on an extended fight sequence between Blade and Frost. Goyer remembered from the screenings the scene where the vampires exploded from the EDTA Anticoagulants got a huge reaction every time. He worked that into the ending so now, when Blade fights Frost, it ends with him exploding."
Blake nodded after calming down from Emerald's joke. "Good thing too, that final fight was actually enjoyable to watch." The other sword wielders in the audience nodded in agreement with the feline faunus.
"Months later they screened this version and the audience loved it. So it shows that test audiences aren't always a bad thing." We see a test audience review sheet that only said 'SUCKED'. "The movie was in production for over two years and finally released on October 21st, 1998. It was a huge success spending two weeks at the number one spot and pulling in 131 million versus its 40 million dollar budget. An X-Men movie was already in the works at Fox but with the success of Blade, it reinvigorated the production and made the studio take it more seriously."
We're shown two teaser posters for X-Men. "X-Men was released on July 14, 2000 and made almost 300 million dollars. This overwhelming success kickstarted the next wave of superhero films which is going stronger than ever today."
They were almost shown the poster for Civil War but Lex made sure that it was very heavily blurred out.
Nora looked at Lex. "Hey! Why can't we see that?"
Lex looked at Nora. "Because it's a massive spoiler for the MCU." Thankfully, everyone accepted that. "That and I definitely don't need Katana riding my ass after I got mad at her for that slip-up about Thanos."
"The importance of Blade can't be understated. It was a serious comic book movie that was released in a time when comic book movies weren't being taken seriously. Blade started a franchise that was even more successful with Blade 2 and the series came to a crashing halt with Blade Trinity."
Lex rolled her eyes as she enjoyed Trinity way more than 2. "Blade 2 sucked. Blade didn't need a fucking love interest and it was a fucking family arguement that spiralled out of control. Not to mention the horrid use of CGI." She really didn't like Blade 2, even when she was a kid she hated it. "Hell, the sequence in Trinity of Dracula just walking in broad daylight amongst a crowded street is terrifying as he can easily blend in and become anyone with no one the wiser until it's too late and he kills you." (9)
"There was even a short-lived tv series with Kirk 'Sticky Fingaz' Jones in the lead role. In 2015 at the San Diego Comic-Con, Snipes was in talks with Marvel about making at least one more movie. Blade is outstanding. It's got the right mix of action, humor and a great deal of world building."
"Norrington said the movie was an ode to Sam Pakenpaw and at its core, it was a western. It crammed a lot of story into two hours without it feeling overloaded. Snipes nailed the character and while I'm sure eventually Marvel/Disney will reboot the series."
Nora looked at Lex in excitement. "Blade's gonna be part of the MCU?!"
Lex shrugged. "Honestly, who knows at this point?"
"It's going to be tough to find somebody who can match his performance. The only downside to the movie now is some of the CG is dated, it doesn't detract from the movie overall, it's just some of the scenes stand out in a bad way. Still, at least they made the smart choice to change the ending. If they didn't, it's possible that people would have laughed at Dorff's blood tornado, the series would have never made it past part one and we, potentially, would not have the massive comic book universes we have in cinema today."
As the video ended, everyone got up and stretched while some of them yawned. Lex stood up. "Okay, everyone. Follow me and I'll bring you to your rooms for your stay in this reality." Everyone followed Lex to their respective rooms and turned in for the night.
While everyone was going to bed, Lex went back to the archives and sighed as she sat in her chair. She soon went back to work on studying and watching different realities both canon and non-canon. It would be another long night of work for the archivist kitsune and she knew it but she smiled softly at the photo on her desk that had her hugging her three daughters and all of them were smiling happily. "Okay, let's get back to business." She went back to typing her reports. "October 11th, 2020. Katana and I have made contact with Remnant-0481…"
(1) - A little something that I'm trying out. If this isn't to your liking, Katana, I'll drop it.
(2) - At the end of Katana's Thor reaction, Nora was adopted by Thor and became Nora Thorsdottir after she was able to, surprisingly, wield Mjolnir.
(3) - I forgot to mention/credit him back in chapter 2 but yeah, almost all of the background stuff that Lex was mentioning to them, I had learned from GoodBadFlicks.
(4) - I managed to see Alita while it was still in theaters and in 3D. It was such an amazing film that I got the 4K version since it's the only way I was able to get the 3D version.
(5) - AVP: Requiem is the biggest example of that. That film was god awful.
(6) - Yeah, Poe Dameron was originally supposed to stay dead in the first act of Force Awakens when the TIE Fighter exploded but Oscar Isaacs complained about barely being in the movie that they put him back in with no explanation as to how he got back to the Resistance so fast nor how he was still alive and had left Finn for dead.
(7) - Yeah, I gave Lex my real height of 5'5". Her wives from shortest to tallest: Sunset at 5'0", Anko at 5'6", Tali at 5'8", and Robin at 6'2". And yeah, Oscar Isaacs is 5'9".
(8) - Yeah, I don't really understand the hype surrounding the films. I've watched all four and they were very meh. If you like those movies, that's fine. But please understand that I just don't like them.
(9) - Again, this is my personal opinion. Blade 2 just didn't feel right to me, the best version of Trinity though is the unrated version.
And THAT is a fucking wrap. Honestly I wasn't expecting it to take so long but what with me getting a job so shortly after starting this and being so damn tired from said job, it really drained my writing energy.
Now, while the plan was to go right into X-Men after Blade, Katana and I started talking and I think you'll enjoy the film they'll be looking at next.
"Where's my supersuit?"
Not making any promises on when the prologue will be out but you'll know when you get notified.
Anyways everyone, this is church2550 signing off 'til the next time. I'll see you then.
Stay safe out there, Guardians.
