"You up for a trip?" Fury asked Dr. Stephan Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme and Earth's primary defender against magical threats.

"Did your investigations turn up anything new in Los Angeles or with Wolfram and Hart?"

"A little in the case of both. The first hotspot he tracked down he got some pictures of the remains of some sort of decomposed demon in a uniform. The decomposition really messed up the uniform but Fritz, one of our techs is real good. He was able to find a pattern that indicates it may have been worn by a member of the Scrouge."

"Pure blood radical demon group that wants to wipe out humans? I've heard of them. Fairly new on the scene. Most demons aren't organized in any way, aside from vampires."

"True, the second spot might be a little more interesting, at least as far as you're concerned. Harris is a bulldog when it comes to an investigation. He identified every building with a street facing security camera within several blocks of the second spot and found one that shows a van and a fancy car both approaching and exiting the area. The van doesn't have any license plates on it, but the car does. Once again Fitz worked his techno magic, which isn't actually Magic for the record and got the license plate number. It's registered to a Holland Manners, a lawyer for Wolfram and Hart. Circumstantial evidence at best, but still I'd like to get an explanation as to why they were only blocks away from a mystical event that resulted in several dusted vampires, a dead demon and a severed human hand."

"As would I, but as you said circumstantial at best and not enough for questioning."

"We ran the DNA from the human hand but it's not in any database, so nothing there for now."

"So where do you want me to go?"

"A supposedly peaceful little city two hours from Los Angeles that has been magically hidden from the world for a century."

"What, like Shangri La? Or other supposedly magical places hidden from the rest of the world."

"As I understand it, in Shangri La people supposedly don't age. No, this is a very different situation. Sunnydale, California was magically hidden to hide the fact that it was deliberately built over a mystical convergence and the convergence itself."

"And who did such a thing and why?"

"As to why, it may well lead to a literal Hell and because it pumps out energy that attracts demon breed vampires that makes them stronger. The guy who did it was the Mayor of the city, the only Mayor for a century. He not only hid the city, he imposed a spell over the whole city that kept the population ignorant of the outside world as well as kept them from seeing the vampires."

"That would make them easy prey for the vampires." Stephan said grimly.

"Which is why the Mayor built Sunnydale to have a lot of attractions and advertised really low real estate prices in order to draw more people in. A steady supply of victims."

"What was his goal? Surely there must have been a reason he did such a thing! Thousands may have died, there must be a reason or he's just a madman."

"Oh, I'd say it's safe to say he was definitely insane. His goal was to turn himself into an Old One, also known as an Elder Being. And he was about a year and half shy of his goal when he was stopped. Rather finally."

"How was he stopped? A SHIELD investigation?"

"Nope, a group of teenagers who managed to over come the spell and set out to figure out who and why it was set. They were already aware of the vampires and had been trying to do something about them, themselves. They became aware of the outside world when two of the members of the group were affected by terrigenesis last Halloween. They were also affected by another spell that was happening that night. A Chaos worshiper changed everyone who bought a costume from him into their costumes for a couple of hours. The kids affected by the terrigenesis somehow also absorb their costumes and acquired attributes of those costumes."

"Not everyone who undergoes terrigenesis is stable physically. Are they alright? Should I evaluate them as well?"

"They had the Magic evaluated by a witch from a coven in England and protections put on themselves, but for the record, yes I want you to check them out as well out and the convergence. And then get yourself to Cleveland because there's a second, much smaller one there. It seems there are a total of nine of them worldwide. The others have been shut down at one time or another."

"And how is it that I never knew about these convergences? The Ancient One never mentioned them to me!"

"She may not have known. I have to interview the kids now. I'll make sure you get a transcript of the interviews. There may be more things for you to investigate."

"I'll leave immediately."

'And I may get drunk after I'm done.' Stephan thought. 'An Elder Being! Stopping such a creature would have cost an enormous amount of lives! Have we not lost enough lives fighting aliens, not to mention the mutants killed by the Terrigenesis Mist and the others that became sick? The efforts to stabilize the world in the face of the fear all of that has caused, has caused damage as well. For once I am grateful a human has died, how many died for his insane quest?!'
