Chapter 2: Heartbeat at the Beach

On a warm summer day at Askran Beach, Catherine and Shamir lounged lazily on their towels, the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore providing a soothing background melody.

"Ahh... Blue skies, clear water, white sand... If this isn't heaven, I don't know what is," Catherine remarked, stretching her arms out wide as she soaked in the tranquil atmosphere.

Shamir adjusted her sunglasses and nodded in agreement, a small smile playing at the corners of her lips. "Indeed. It's a rare moment of relaxation amidst our busy schedules."

Catherine's eyes twinkled mischievously as she scanned the beach, her gaze settling on a small rock formation jutting out into the ocean. "Hey, Shamir! See that rock over there? How about a little competition? Want to swim over there to see who's the fastest?"

Shamir raised an eyebrow, considering the offer for a moment before shaking her head. "No thank you. I've waited too long for some R'n'R and wasted it with even more training."

Catherine pouted, disappointment evident on her face. "Aw, aren't you a spoilsport? Come on, swimming by myself won't be nearly as fun."

"What if we had some stakes to it?" Catherine continued, a mischievous glint in her eye.

Shamir arched an eyebrow, intrigued. "Stakes?"

Catherine grinned, her competitive spirit reignited. "If you beat me, I'll treat you to a drink or something. Whatever you want. And if I beat you, then... well, same deal. Not bad, right?"

Shamir considered the proposition for a moment before shaking her head. "Pass. I'm not a child - if I want something, I can buy it myself."

Catherine's expression softened, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "Oh, come on! Then what would you want?"

Shamir hesitated for a moment before answering. "If I have to say... some peace and quiet."

"Got it! Then if you win, I'll go swimming by myself. Does that work for you?" Catherine proposed, her eyes sparkling with determination.

Shamir paused, processing Catherine's words before sighing in resignation. "Wait a sec... Are you saying I have to win them to spend time away from you?"

Catherine chuckled, nudging Shamir playfully. "Yes! We are partners after all."

Shamir shook her head in exasperation. "But that's just work and... sigh Arguing won't get me anywhere."

Catherine grinned triumphantly, clasping her hands together. "There we go! Now, if we're doing this, you'd better take it seriously! Let's go, partner!"

Shamir smirked, a competitive gleam in her eyes. "You're on!"
